Mako looks as if she wanted to say something when she sees Ami leaning into Eldric's side, and Mai leaning into you.

Mai: "Ned, move over here..." -she scoots over so she's sitting next to Ami, making room for you, so Mako can sit on your other side.

Eldric: "Where did you find such a large couch?"

Mai: "Made it myself. Can't go to town that often, and can't let a delivery truck I don't know up here, so I didin't had much of a choice."

Eldric: "was there a reason to make it this large, or do you have some foresight power?"

Mai: "It's not that large. Its just large enough for two"

Eldric: "?"

Mai: "Laying down" -she smiles.

Both Eldric and Ami blush rather red. Mako doesn't seems to, and the night goes on nicely.

A flower on each hand, you laugh and enjoy the Bad Movies night.

The following day its announced as a beatdown extravaganza, with almost all of your fighters having schefuled matches.

From the Silver league to Omega, there are twenty fights scheduled in total, and the streets are virtually empty past 7, when the XWF transmision begins.

Of course, it varies depending on local time zones, but for a evening, planet earth is mostly peaceful as its population enjoys some wholesome family violence, as Rick likes to call it.

By monday, you feel quite good about your life by the time you spot Aritsu waiting for you at the XWF lobby.

Aritsu: "Did you have a good weekend, sir?"

Ned: "Quite. Did you rest well?"

After exchanging some pleasantries, you start walking together towards your office, as usual, with Aritsu telling you about different business in order of importance, when a sudden, absolute black orb wraps up the both of you for a moment.

You surprise yourself, your mind and your backup mind going into hypermode to figure this out.

Certainly, none of your friends would play a joke like this, so it must be something bad. You turn around and wrap an arm around Aritsu's waist at the same time, pulling the two of you out of the ... whatever that is.

Just half a moment afterwards,. everything still inside the orb dissapears. A small crater on the floor is all that is left. One of the flower pots got partially caught on it, and it looks as if some strange giant had taken a bite out of the plant foilage, the pot and the earth on it in one chunk.

A document that flew off when you threw yourself and your secretary out of it, is also missing half ot it.

The alarms trigger almost immediately after a sudden surge of quantum in the office building, and XWF security staff start flooding the hallway with excellent response time.

Aritsu: "Wh- ?"

Ned: "I don't know, stay down, alright? let security do their jobs."

Whoever it was, it got away. Thankfully, noone was injured.

One of the cars in the parking lot was stolen, and later found a few miles away

Aritsu: "Boss?"

Ned: "Yes?"

Aritsu: "You can let go now"

You are kneeling over her, covering her with your body as you hold her by the waist. She is holding from your shoulder with a hand while keeping her documents and datapad close with the other, her carefully arranged golden hair sligthly messy, with a few strands over her attractive face.

Ned: "Alright, here we go" -You stand up carrying her to her feet. She lost a shoe in the orb and it is gone for good, but it's otherwise uninjured.

Guard: "Sir, are you alright? please come with me to the infirmary."

Tne guard is quite nervous. More so than his peers. Also, there is no informary. The XWF has an excellent, if small, clinic, with one of the best nova doctors in the world.

Also, his badge is a mirror image. The picture is on the wrong side, and all the text is reversed.

Guard: "C'mon sir. We need to give you a once over."

Either he's a nova and we can't jump him, or he's not a nova and he'll be doomed

The man is taken by surprise, and the dozen or so guards manage to overpower him.

As it turns out, the man was a backup, an infiltrator, not a fighter.


Man: "Fuc-!" -the guards shoot his powers out him, whatever they were, and tackle him.

The XWF security staff is well equipped to deal with rampaging novas. Their guns have depowering drug darts, which, while not 100% effective (and some rare novas, like Python, are completely immune), certainly do the job when a dozen or so hit the same guy.

Of course, they take the man into custody and notify the police.

You are taken to a safe room, and the doctor is summoned to check on you and Aritsu.

Ren: "This won't hurt a bit." -she says right before giving you a shot

Ned: "Aaah! you liar."

Ren: "Sorry. Would you have preferred if I told you it was going to hurt?" -the attractive doctor makes sure your vitals are firm, then checks her datapad to receive data from her nanobots inside you.

Aritsu: "A minute please..." -she answers an incoming call. The police want to interview the two of you, but the staff isint letting them through until the doctor gives you both the all clear.

With Brass and Okaba in the room, you feel a lot better about meeting the officers.

They take your testimony, and ask you to go into their protective custody, but you decline politely, and they have no choice but to agree,

A few minutes later, the police comes in to take your testimony, and it becomes evident that the first group was a fake. Hopefully, it will be the last attack(?) for today.

Brass: "I think you should take the day off and go to see Mai. Her place is as safe as they come, isin't it?"

Okaba: "Or Lyann. Not a bad idea to have 200 nova martial arts masters between you and whatever is going on. I will try and get in contact with the local Utopia agents and see if I can get someone to go to you."
