After that it is simply a matter of moving through the city in a very set manner. You guide Er Yin through the city easily, telling her where you will be leaping to, holding hands, letting her hold onto your shoulder, and once allowing her to gently grip your belt as you walk along a wall between two districts. When you reach the isolated set of apartments – completely walled off from everywhere else – you carefully lift Er Yin into a princess-carry, which she allows, though she wraps her tail about your waist for good measure (the thing is so freakin' long!). Hopping off the wall, you end up inside the gate to the tiny community, and gently set her down again.

“People who aren't accompanied by a resident or who jump down on their own without a token like I gave Akari wake up the guardian,” you explain. You pay a great deal to the landlord, and she makes sure each and every one of her tenants is kept safe and private. You're going to have to give him a present of some sort, so she doesn't allow your lease to lapse for having extra visitors. But it's the only thing you could do.

As you guide Er Yin up the stairs you see your door is open, and the figures of the others standing in the doorway. Your heart sinks, and you're not sure....

You are supposed to be protectign Kiki-hime!” You try and keep the plaintive note out of your voice, but they're all so overwhelmed and shocked it's difficult to do. “I know it's awful, but please understand....” You usher them deeper inside so you can shut the door behind you. Er Yin places her hand against the wall, her tail searching the floor around her and making the lay of the room familiar a few feet at a time.

Miko-Kiku has both sleeves over her mouth, and her tail is lashing wildly, struck dumb by the horrific sight before her. Akari's voice wafts to you as you walk up behind them. “I could never have imagined aniki to be this way.” Yui's legs seem to have given out and she's looking around the room, utterly aghast.

Kiki-hime's voice is small and your cheeks heat up immediately. “I can see....why she would hide this from....well, from everyone....”

“I just wanted a place that was....well, my very own and safe for me. I couldn't help myself, it was just so....so....it was perfect, you know? I realize it's an awful thing to have to deal with, but please understand, it was very special to me....” Your halting explanation isn't enough you're sure, but you could never adequately explain all THIS.

Your explanation causes Kiki-hime to turn towards you, her eyes wide and her expression shocked. “Ryu-chan....” Your blush deepens and you shake your head, not quite ready to cope with it. “Do you....have a....a...thing about....pastels?”

The deep, plush carpeting is a shimmering shade of pearl white. The walls are a light shade of sea-shell pink, except at the top and bottom, where a pearl white is laid. The soft pastel blues and pinks of the Western style couches and cushions is strangely complemented by the stainless steel and soft blue-green glass of the modern end tables, coffee tables, and dining set. The kitchen's eggshell white is trimmed in pastel yellows, while the lightly honey-stained wooden cupboards are windowed in amber. Elegant watercolor paintings of various simplified landscapes decorate the hallway and living room, while the single window has curtains of a very pale blue tint..

You bite the inside of your lip. “I think they're very....nice....”

Everyone is staring at you except Yui, who can't tear her gaze away from the soft, ethereal colors. You can't help but squirm, the distinctly Western look and the choices of colors you have never let anyone see you anywhere near in your entirely life looming around you.

Yui cranes her head to look up and back at you. “Aniki, you're so totally gay.”

Dead silence fills the room for a few seconds before Kiki and Kiku start giggling softly, and Akari lets a long suffering sigh loose. Your cheeks are burning and you start pushing everyone towards the seats can couches. “OKAY! There's important stuff to talk about!”

“This must truly be something to see,” mentions Er Yin mildly, and Miko-Kiku replies, “It's best that you can't, Gin-Gin, you would never be able to look at that baka-dragon the same way ever again.”

You serve tea – in a more traditional tea set and manner – as Er Yin cuddles with Kiku and Kiki and Akari move away from each other on the couch, clearly expecting you to sit between them.

Except before they move closer, which they start to do simultaneously, you reach down and grab Yui, and pull her into your lap, much to her surprise. You sit down and she relaxes slowly, which is good because breathing is nice. Kiki-hime giggles and immediately starts stroking her hair, while Akari leans into you and strokes the oni-chick's muscular thigh gently. You scoot so Kiki-hime can lean against you as well, and Yui slowly relaxes. “Hasn't anyone pulled you into their lap before, Yui?”

You slide your hand under Yui's very loose shirt, and stoke her abs. Despite the layer of softness, you can feel the rock hard, polished smooth muscles of her abdomen, and she inhales, a tiny gasp-like noise of shock. Her cheeks darken significantly, and you smile.

“I am very glad that I have all of you – all my family, closer than my blood relations, my true family to guide and protect me in my time of need.” Your voice is soft, and you look significantly at Kiku-chan, who blushes and looks away. More importantly you slides your tail around the ends of Kiki-hime's and Akari-chan's, locking them together and squeezing lightly. You pull them close, along your back, and snake your tail about theirs, not really forcing them to embrace but encouraging it.

And by the Kamuy, they actually do so, their tails curling around each other as well as with yours. You don't even have to look to see their eyes meet as they glance at one another between Yui and yourself, their expressions clearly saying, 'Ryukusa belongs to us both, and we belong to her together.'

You still own every battlefield.

Akari's hand settles over yours, and you both rest your hand on the oni-girl's belly, letting her feel all of you, together, with her. You politely ignore the wetness in Ryuu Yui's eyes.

Er Yin is smiling to herself, those dead eyes once again fixed upon you without seeing you, and Kiku-chan is smiling a little as well despite the unpleasant truth revealed to her. Her golden eyes are distinctly softer, warmer, seeing you keeping your family, your loved ones happy and close. You know it will hurt her more to hear what you have to say next, so you sigh, and begin.

The explanation of what you found takes very little time; the revelation of Hinata assisting Hidesato and Kushinada, or at least hosting the duel, makes Miko-Kiku turn her head away and put the sleeve of her blood-free kimono over her mouth. Er Yin strokes her hair, but that only seems to soothe her a little. “Hidesato seems to have some skills. Demigods may not have as close a link to the elements as we do, but I would say she has some tie to the Void at least.”

“It is telling to me that while she was the one who made the possession possible it was Kushinada who possessed the mukade youkai, and not Hidesato herself.” Er Yin's comment seems to make Akari thoughtful, but no one else seems to get it, and Miko-Kiku is too despondent to be interested. “Hinata-hakase could have made the possession much more powerful or done something much more dangerous.” Her cadenced voice is harder to follow, just a little; Kiku-chan's emotional state worries her a little, it seems.

“I still can't afford to trust her. Even if she's impartial, I doubt she'll want to stand up to two demigods at once, even in her own temple.” You sigh and shake your head. “And I can't be sure she'll be able to stop Hidesato from cheating, or even know if she'd want to.”

“She has to be impartial for a duel, Ryukusa-aniki,” says Miko-Kiku, speaking very softly. You look at her seriously. “The youkai of the Temple of Forgotten Stones and Flowers demand that she honor every bargain she does make. She wouldn't dare break any kind of oath, either in spirit or in literal wording.” You smile and nod, taking her at her word. She's in enough pain, and you wouldn't doubt her word in any case.

“So if Hidesato tries to cheat or harm anyone, Hinata-hakase will have to stop her. That's a big help.”

“But Kushinada still has the Grass-Cutting Blade, Ryu-chan....how can you win?” Kiki-hime asks in ignorance of what Akari and Er Yin know about your hand.

The obvious answer is that you're a lot stronger than you were before and you're healed and expecting the fight....but she's right. One demigod put you out of commission for almost five days, and two – a sorceress and one armed with Ame-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi – could do far more than just hurt you.

You reach up with both hands, and slide them along her hair, your thumbs caressing her horns.

“Hai, Kiki-hime. I will take care to not have it come to that. But I will do as you ask. Because if it Is Ryuu Kiki, then it can't be helped otherwise.” She smiles, a brilliant, warm, loving smile, and you pull her into a kiss, giving as good as you got.

You are both breathless and she is more than a little discomfited by the time you are done with her. She is blushing deeply, and you smile, gently. She finally lets you up – though she obviously would much rather ravish you right there, audience be damned, and Kiku-chan has her sleeve over her mouth and is blushing quite a bit also.

“Er Yin is on the porch outside, ecchi-dragon.”

“Thank you, Kiku-chan.” You watch as Kiki joins Akari in the kitchen, and then realize that leaves Yui in your bedroom.

Are you not as precious to me as Akari, or Kiki, or Yui?” You lightly kiss the soft cartilage at the lower edge of her ear, and you feel the rush of hot air along her skin, your face, her hair wafting in the breeze she creates.

“Please, my priestess....please trust in me, to take care of you both now.” You open your lips as she shivers delicately in place, and you squeeze her hand....and then softly blow warmth into her ear.

Someone with slower reflexes wouldn't have caught her. I mean, jeez, she just went DOWN, like a sack of rocks, her eyes fluttering, her body quivering, her tail tip twitching. Laying her gently on the love seat, you give a finger-wave to Akari and Kiki, who are looking at you curiously, and slip out onto your porch.

Your porch, on the second floor, faces the fifty foot tall wall that surrounds the building. It's a strange place, a secret place, and you only stumbled upon it by accident, following someone you thought might be interesting to follow. It actually kind of helps that she is in that soft, white and silver and sapphire dress; and that you are in that classy, noir-chic suit. It somehow feels right.

[X] Strange as all this is, I think it's stranger that Kiku thinks perverted things about us.

You look at the strange, dangerous looking dragonette sitting demurely before you. You have little doubt she could hold her own in a fight – those strange, solid claws, that monstrously powerful tail, her lean, firm body. Being blind doesn't mean too much difficulty for a dragonette, and a Void dragonette....well, they probably sense the future in addition to having incredibly keen senses. And since she can see chi, if it breaths, she can see it.

Still, there is a vulnerability to her, a strangely fragile, delicate quality. You reach up slowly, and lay your fingertips along her brow, parting the hair that partially obscures her face, and the dark scat that form an X between her eyes. “I think Kiku-chan is under the very odd impression I'm your domme, Er Yin.”

Er Yin tenses slightly, but doesn't move away or allow her tail to curl over threateningly. She allows you to trace the scar on her face, and slowly, very slowly relaxes into the soft, gentle touch. “It would be difficult for me to accept such treatment, even from my master. Even from you. But....I do not think that is how you would treat me.” Her tail slides around her legs, and curls across your thighs, and then back towards her. “I think, as much as you would dominate my Hougyoku-chan against your nature, you would treat me as an equal, which is also against your nature. At least in matters of lovemaking.”

You slowly rise up, and take both hands, moving all the bangs from her face, baring those strange, dead eyes, that dark, wide scar. She starts to lower her face but you gently press up, your fingers brushing her twisted horns, making her face you. “I don't understand why you are doing this. You seem to care enough about me to risk your life, even risk your beloved Kiku's life despite my ignorance. And I haven't thought about you in the same way as the others. Yet....”

It is a movement of supplication. “Please, Ryukusa. Please save us.” Tears form in those unseeing eyes, and she lets you gaze upon her bared, scarred, hopeful face.

Er Yin shakes, her soft voice speaking in that weird language she shares with Kiku – Ainu, it must be – and you kiss her horns, feeling the faintest of tingles along your lips. You slowly lift her face, look into her dead eyes. “No one will hurt any of you ever again and not face my wrath. My wrath – not Horobi's, or Ryujin's, or any other ancient gods. Mine and mine alone. How can I refuse, when you have all suffered for no reason? No more suffering, no more pain inflicted by others with power, no more running in fear.”

She sniffles softly, and you take out your handkerchief, and gently wipe her nose. “Yui will give you the strength, the strength you need to become what you were meant to be, master. All that I can give you....it is yours. My lover, my life, my power....”

You laugh softly. “Then give me your smile, Er Yin Long.” She can't help but laugh, and you trace her lips with gentle fingertips, let her know you see that smile. “That is what I wanted most of all,” you whisper to her.

That's incredibly accurate. The elemental powers aren't truly part of Horobi's power - they're part of being a demigod.

Youkai-born and demigods aren't as bound tightly to the elemental nature of the spirit-children, though demigods often have ties to one or another element they're not as tightly controlled by it, which is why demigods are so touch to beat (most of the strengths, less of the weaknesses).

Kiku is a veritable power inside Hinata's temple - she knows all the secrets, all the rules, and all the people and things there. Hinata will respect her and accept her as a holy person and so will everything else there. But two demigods is dangerous, and Hinata is an unknown quantity to everyone. Kiku can guarantee Hinata's neutrality in the duel, but not what other deals have been made.
