Old thread boards.4chan.org/tg/thread/33487742

You are Sireyi Valyenya, 18 years old, you are on your first quest.

You have retrieved the Horn of Alzurad: a legendary artefact that can call dead heroes back to fight for the holder of the Horn. But now you’re lost on another plane, trying to find your way home.

You are trying to figure out the dark and troubled past of your captor.

“Thank you for helping us” you say. Gendric doesn’t respond, lost in his own memories.

“You want to talk about it?” you continue. He’s silent for several minutes then says “You ever have something happen to you that no matter how much you try to run away from, it always follows you?”

>What happened to you?
>Can’t say I have, no
>Well I was ordered to marry an evil king once

Well, I was ordered to marry an evil king once. His court wizards captured me and tried to mindwipe me.

Guys, it was an experience that was only relevant to the revolution sidequest.
>>
>>33491862
I'm pretty sure backstory is important... and it did set up our future self I'm still proud of my 20 and rules lawyering
>>
>>33491862

Well, now it's kind of relevant again. We've resolved the issue successfully eventually, though.
>>
>>33491862
More like it was an experience that has lasted from the time it began to like a month or two ago. Thats actually massively relevant.
>>
>>33491887
>>33491893
Would you really describe the debacle as haunting, though?
>>
>>33491789
>Not in the way you're speaking of, no.
>What happened?

The king is a thing we might bring up, but it's not the same thing as what he's talking about.
He's likely referring more to his own mental trauma from the event, and Siyeri wasn't very traumatized at all.
>>
>>33491930
well it did drives us to onto the path of being a Paladin, but no, not haunting in the traditional sense.
>>33491937
This anon does make a good point. He really is more asking about trauma more than anything. So it may be better to just go no, not really and ask him what happened.
>>
>>33491930

It haunted us enough that we got a fangrill out of the deal and a bitter enemy (now deceased).

I guess it's also a question how sympathetic he would be to someone who runs away from nobility rather than being exiled from it somehow. But I'm sure Sireyi can spin that to her advantage - had she gone through with the deal, she would be as she is now - a captive, just with subtler chains, and separated from her ideals.
>>
>>33491789
>What happened to you?

Ask him what happened first. Then Sireyi can attempt to relate to him when he opens up.
>>
“Well, I was ordered to marry an evil king once. His court wizards captured me and tried to mindwipe me.”

He smiles very briefly, not looking at you “So how’d that work out?”

“I resisted their mind-control” you say, not wanting to get into the whole thing “and when I was older I went back and helped overthrow the government”

“And the king?” he asks

“Was put on trial an executed” you say.

“Hmm” he responds

“What happened to you?” you ask

He takes a while before answering “I was an acrobat in the circus, the master of acrobats was a vampire with a taste for children, no one in the circus seemed to know or care. Eventually I ran away.”

>That sounds horrible
>If there’s anything I can do to help...
>What happened to the vampire?
>Not all demon-blood are noble born?

>>
Eh. It doesn't really compare. It's not something that followed us, so much as something that we ran away from and then went back to and made right.
>>
>>33491962
So if anything, that experience had a positive impact on Sireyi.
>>
>>33492002
>That sounds horrible
>What happened to the vampire?
>If there’s anything I can do to help...

The last one feels a bit...uncaring?
It doesn't feel like a sympathetic response at all, and I don't feel comfortable choosing it.

>What happened to the vampire?

>>33492011

which is why it might serve to motivate the guy to emulate us or even team up.
>>
“That sounds horrible” you say “If there’s anything I can do to help...” you leave your offer hanging
“I wish there was” he says with weary resignation “But there isn’t, I’m just a demon-blood who gets through life as best I can, and when I die I’ll be doomed to the pits of Hell, because I didn’t curry the favour of the demon lords.”

He has a rather...gloomy outlook on life.

“What happened to the vampire?” you prompt

“When I ran away” he says “I was taken in by an old human bounty hunter, a pure human” he dads significantly “taught me everything about tracking, and used up what little money he had to have a wizard teach me how to use my own magic. I owe him a lot, he raised me. When I was ready we hunted down the vampire together.”

A grim smile plays over his face “I still remember the look on the old bastards face when I put that silver knife in his heart.”

What do you talk to him about now?

>I thought all demon-bloods were noble, why did you grow up in a circus?

“Bullshit” he ripostes “Heaven is a myth, there’s no such thing, the old gods that some worship don’t exist.”

“If they don’t exist” you say “Then how do you explain me?”

“A sorcerers experiment” he says truculently, though you can tell he doesn’t believe what he just said.

“Well what do you plan to do now?” you ask, trying another tack

“The plan hasn’t changed” he says, suddenly all hard edges again “I’m still selling you to the priests of the demon lords. Even though a few others made offers. The Priests of the Demon Lords have the true power.”
“Demons are not invincible” you say “And even Demon Lords can die.”

He stares at you “You must be mad to think such a thing.”

Lol who says I've forgotten? We've just got to get the fuck out of here so we can redeem everyone and turn them into paladins.

I really only wanted Gendric to become one at first but now that everyone is talking about it part of me wants to make everyone a paladin.

I think it would be fantastic if we showed up while Ninver thought we were dealt with.

"And here's the bounty hunter he hired to catch me. Don't worry, he's turned a new leaf."
>>
“The only madness is believing the Demon Lords are invincible” you insist “If they truly cannot be beaten, why do they go to such lengths to insist the gods are not real? And wasn’t there three Demon Lords originally, and now there’s only two?”

He mulls over that one, he doesn’t have a counter-argument

“Sorcerers experiment? That’s a lie, I can sense evil, I expect your own senses tell you what I truly am.”

“I can sense weaknesses” he says “Well, more like I can look into the core of someone and see what they are truly like, what do they hate, what do they fear, in battle this gives me a seconds notice before they strike. And I can smell, better than a demon-hound, it’s part of what makes me a good tracker. Every person has their own scent, that tells me who they are”

“And what do you see when you look at me?” you ask “What do I smell like?”

“I see...purity, compassion, love, a soul so pure I am ashamed of what I’ve done.” He says quietly “A soul too pure for this world. And you smell of clean air with nothing tainting it, of home, of...forgiveness.”

“Let me tell you about the Goddess Velya....” you start reciting some of the basic doctrines of compassion, of joy, of personal choice. Jal is listening with rapt attention too.

Once you finish, he is silent, thinking about what you’ve said.

“What offers?” you ask, curious as to who wants you.

“Oh those” he says absently “One of the Mistresses of Flesh, the owner of a gladiator arena, a wealthy collector of ‘exotic’ animals, and a sorcerers guild.”

“Of all of them, the Mistress of Flesh offered the most, five times the 150,000 gold the priests offered me. I think the rebels may be funding her.”

Agreed. It really needs to keep getting higher. I still am not sure though which halo we should get
>>
>>33493009
I don't think that'll work, since skill levels (might?) cap out at the governing skills modifier.

>>33493058
I just finished rereading it and I'm tempted to agree with you. If it was broader than just 'invoking our authority" I'd prefer it because I like the flavor, but its hard to say no to a +10 to willpower where spells are concerned.

"No," he says, and keeps the two of you locked in the cage for the rest of the trip. He finds the piece of metal Jal was planning on using, and discovers that she is a girl. The two of you reach the slave auction without much trouble and are sold to a wealthy pig demon as pleasure slaves. And then you both got Pig AIDS.

the end
>>
>>33493118
Not to mention, the +10 effective willpower also applies to spell-like abilities, as OP confirmed Wednesday.

So our Lightning Bolts, Lightning Storms and Windblasts all get the effects of that bonus.
>>
“Mistress of Flesh, that’s like a Brothel madam right?” you ask

“Sort of” he says “they’re sorcerers with a focus on mind-control and alteration magics, their...girls are all conditioned to be addicted to their jobs, and are often altered physically to suit the clients tastes” he notices the look you’re giving him.

“I had to hunt a client who was hiding in a House of Flesh ok? I had to find out about them.”

“Rebels?” You ask

“Yeah” he says “you don’t think an Empire as big as Drache doesn’t have people unhappy with it?” We’re in one of the outer provinces and the army is here, so you won’t see much here, but if you go to the rotten core of the empire you’ll see some strange shit.”

“Supposedly one of the rebels key figures is a member of some noble house that defected to the empire from one of the human kingdoms Valvenva or something and” he continues “that she’s the daughter of one of the two Demon Lords, good propaganda machine the rebels have, but a bit too far-fetched.”

“Selling me isn’t the only option” you say

“It’s the only option I can see” he says almost apologetically “I’m a bounty hunter, this is what I do.”

“It doesn’t have to be” you say “redemption is for everyone, forgiveness too”

“I don’t know if I deserve redemption” he says “If I am worthy of it, and even if I am, will I still be me, will I be changed by it?”

“The only way to find out” you say gently “Is to try it.”

>Success, he’s cracking

Final argument, please pick only one

>You have defended the weak before, now you can do so on a larger scale (Protector Path)
>The Demon Lords made this world what it is, strike back against them (Avenger Path)
>If you are to be forgiven, you must forgive (Redeemer Path)

QM Note: There will be a final roll after picking the last option, the DC will not differ no matter the vote. No Gendric cannot be a paladin, he’s (in class terms) a Ranger with Half-Demon/Sorcerer powers.
But the path you pick will alter his future powers to suit that path, and by converting him to worship Velya (as you are doing), even his demonic powers will shift to become more divine in theme than hellish. Think of it like a prestige class.

the question becomes, do we immediatelly take on the slavers or not.
If not. we could have him swap our power suppressing bracers back to the non. rest for a day to recover our powers. then the two of us take on the slavers together....

Actually wait better plan, try to "escape". then him and you kill the hounds away from the slavers. they have 2 weeks until they reach their target. we can use hit and run tactics to kill them all.

teleporting out to safety and back in to fight every day after a good rest
>>
>Success
“You have defended the weak before, now you can do so on a larger scale” You say, spending the rest of the day telling him about the more martial doctrines of Velya (protecting people from harm is about as violent as the creed of Velya ever gets).

That night, Gendric lets you and Jal out of your cage and returns your equipment to you, asking you what you want to do. He also removes all of your restraints.

As you are now within one of the provinces of Drache, it simply isn’t practical to care for all these slaves, but if you let them go, they may have a chance - provided you take care of the slavers and demon-hounds first.

>, even if it would pose little to no danger with Gendric on our side
they still pose a great danger and have a pack of demon dogs.

He is individually stronger. but we are completely out of juice. and if we get recaptured now they will horribly abuse all of us and we will NOT escape again, it would be game over.

We should use hit and run tactics and manage our magic so we could always escape, recharge, and return the next day
>>
>>33493479

>Wake the slavers one by one or in small groups and give them opportunity to surrender
>deal with the demonhounds first though.
>>
>>33493528
If we do this, can we do it to each of them individually somehow, making sure they don't wake the others, to avoid 30vs2.5?
>>
IF we are going to be absolute retards about it and wake the slavers to give them a chance, we can AT LEAST try to kill the demon dogs first (just animals) AND at LEAST try to use the sleep powder on a bunch of slavers first so we can free the slaves first and tie up as many as the slavers before they awake

I would like to point out that considering the slavers having been raping the prisoners daily, we would pretty much have to fight the slaves if we want to spare the slavers
>>
>>33493561
wait! I just had idea! how about instead of waking the slavers we go and gag and then redeeming touch them?

there are a LOT higher chance of it working this way and they will be out for days if it fails!

waking them up otherwise is utter stupidity
>>
>>33493479
I want to decoy out the Inuyashas by pretending to flee, kill them first, and THEN offer the slavers a chance to end this peacefully.
>>
>>33493578
well, to do that we should just "escape" normally, the slavers will unleash the hounds on us and then we kill the hounds as they come after us... THEN we deliver ultimatum. if they refuse we can fight them, if it goes south, we escape, rest, and try again the next day
>>
>>33493537
We could try and stay in captivity for a day/night to gain back our powers, big G could get us some normal chains and such, then hit at night.
>>33493577
Yes, I was thinking something similar, though I don't think we have enough juice for 30 redeeming touches.
maybe jump them, tie them up/gag them, take them out into the woods, offer an ultimatum.. or just leave them tied up in the middle of the woods, seperated from each other.
>>
>>33493597
>though I don't think we have enough juice for 30 redeeming touches.
do as many as we can, then go back to cage with fake chains.
slavers won't know what caused it.

>>

Y'know, I think it's best if we let the slaves decide what to do. It's the same thing we did with the Evil King and the citizens.
>>
Can we get a numbered vote?
I don't particularly feel like having to redeem a bunch of dickbag slavers just because a pair of newfags think that paladin = moralfag.
>>
>>33493659
The slaves will want them dead, what with being raped and abused nightly for 2 weeks.
And honestly, I want them dead too
we redeemed the only one of them that was not beyond redemption
>>
>>33493629
I think if we try to fight, then we should at least take out the leader beforehand, either by sleeppowder/chains/etc. or RT if it could actually work, that should sap their morale somewhat.
Or just kill him, but, you know, paladin and all.
>>
>>33493479

I would like to point out that most off the plans for the redemption are
>I think this is a terrible idea

How many people are even for trying to redeem the slavers?
>>
>>33493642

Except that most pureblood demon apart from the dogs is already siding with us.

At any rate, we need to deal with the hounds first regardless of what else we do.
>>
>>33493710
we have sleep powder... for hounds, why don't we lace some meat with it and throw it at them?
easier than fighting them and takes out the slaver's major weapon

Also, our elf is a thief, she can probably sneak and release a bunch of the slaves quietly
>>
Can we just fucking kill them? Holy shit, they are evil to the bones, they are evil incarnate. There is absolutely no fucking reason to risk ourself AND THE HELPLESS slaves by trying to do the "good/honourable" thing.
>>
>>33493682

Technically none of them is beyond redemption, it's just very impractical and risky to do it by magical means.

Well we can always do it the old fashioned way:
"Mr. Lipwing, do you believe in angels?"
>>
Let's tie them up while they're asleep / fight any who are awake, then let the slaves decide their fate.
>>
>>33493687
Here's a better idea:
Wake them up.
Offer them a chance to surrender.
They refuse.
We use lighting storm to instantly kill 10 of them.
Repeat for two rounds.
End fight.
>>
>>33493709
We could wait 1 day, try and get G to drug their dinner with sleeping powder, then let the slaves out and leave?
>>
>>33493739
>Also, our elf is a thief, she can probably sneak and release a bunch of the slaves quietly
and arm them

oh, and our halo is an AoE buff to allies and malus to enemies

Why use the simple way if you can do more complicated stuff that will lead to tons of chaos?

I for one would just leave. Perhaps steal some valuables, because those are useful and stealing from slaves is ok.
>>
>>33493812

you made a typo but essentially that is what we would be doing if we want to let the slaves out, giving them access to slaver gear is the way to go.

>I for one would just leave.

Wouldn't that go against our code though? I agree on complicated shit though. We should just try to kill as many as possible without raising the alarm.
OR, we could leave, gather our strenght back and hit them at full power. This is probably better idea
>>
>>33493888
Thing is, we are already following a plan to (hopefully) end all demon-slavers in this realm. We can't stop every time we encounter helpless people and evil rulers. It would slow down the overall plan.

>>33493812
We could also just kill all slavers and give their stuff to the slaves so they have a chance at pretending not to be freed slaves. Anything that doesn't take too much time.

Whether the slavers can be redeemed is for the salves to decide. Besides, there's always another way they can be redeemed...
>>
>>33493888

What about this course of action

1) sleep the slavers
2) sleep the dogs (permanently)
3) free the slaves, pur slavers in their cage
4) after that we can decide if we stick around and redeem the slaves few ones a day or just leave them to mob justice.

>ntnHigh arguments
>>
In the interests of avoiding an argument for the next hour (fun though that may be), lets narrow it down to:

Please pick only 1 from each category.

Overall Plan
1 Wake slavers, fight
2 Wake slavers, parley (then maybe fight)
3 Leave Quietly, don't return
4 Leave Quietly, perform hit and run
5 Remain hidden in camp, pretending to still be a captive

Demon-Hounds
1 Kill Quietly (only way to avoid noise is kill in sleep)
2 Give drugged food
3 No special actions

Slaves
1 Release pre-parley/fight
2 Release afterwards
3 Don't release (only if leaving quietly)

Redeeming touch everybody goes under leave + hit and run - because it will take so long

Post as much explanation as you want, but please put 3 numbers at the top of your post, i.e.

Order is: Overall, Hounds, then slaves

1 2 3
text

So I can see them clearly, hopefully I've covered everything
>>
>>33494029

I personally wouldn't mind that either as a simple solution but it would feel a bit hypocritical after our lecture of forgiveness and redemption.

We take 2 DE per storm and kill 4-6 slavers each time.
They have only 21 slavers left, and they'll probably start fleeing after another round or two of lightning.
By that time, Gendric will be finished with the dogs and we can take Irigo, easy.
We aren't low on DE, and Sireyi's AC makes her damn near invincible most of the time.

We're using MINIMUM power lightning, as in 2 DE.

The slavers scatter, trying to avoid your thunder, but they cannot, although they do avoid some of its effects, only 3 of those you target drop, (DE 8/27).
2 of the hounds lunge at you, neither hits you.

Irigo, flings that thick whip at you and misses.

Mindful of hitting those locked in the wagons, you wrap the power of the lightning around yourself, bringing down those in your vicinity in a haze of discharged lightning, some of it hits you, it feels....good (DE 6/27).

Irigo, flings that thick whip at you, as in, literally throws it at you. Or maybe he just snapped it a bit too hard.
His whip goes flying off amidst the wagons and with a wail, he runs after it. critfail

Gendrics swords bite deep into the hounds harassing you; they turn their attentions to him, one manages to leave a bite wound on his arm (HP 36/46)

5 slavers attack Gendric, two hit, scoring minor wounds (HP 32/46).

The remaining slavers are cowering near the wagons. Two of them locate Jal and drag her from her hiding place, kicking and screaming all the way, holding her between them – hitting them with a lightning power would hit her too.

The remaining slavers look ready to panic. The demon hounds are in a kill-frenzy and will be difficult to call off.

With a calm and soothing voice you convince the slaver to release Jal, he flies whilst she runs into your arms and hugs you hard, crying.

Gendric slashes Irigo with one of his swords, leaving a wide gash on his chest, Irigo falls fack clutching at his injury “I surrender, I surrender!” he screams.

It seems the fight is over. All that remains is to determine what to do.

You have just under 150 slaves with you, and a dozen (former) slavers plus Irigo.

Slavery is perfectly legal in the empire and Irigo is a legal slaver, so taking them to the authorities isn’t an option.

You and Gendric and Jal could spend another 11 days going back the route you came, but these slaves were convicted of crimes in their home town – they’d just be made slaves again.

You could simply let them all go to fend for themselves, giving them the slavers supplies.

Unless you protect Irigo and the slavers from the former slaves, they’ll probably kill them. You could let one group (slaves or slavers) leave well before the others to avoid them crossing paths.

And whilst you decide that...

General XP 8 (can be spent upon anything)

Isn't slavery illegal in the storms nation? we chould bring all the slaves and slavers there and hijack a boat to do so.

that being said, they will try to escape and raise a warning. since we cannot summarily execute them we should just use intimidate and tell them to run.

If the slaves later complain we can justify it to them with "my magics were exhausted, we were lucky they surrendered when they did, it was a bluff basically".

Some might try to hunt down the escaping slavers for revenge... good for them.
the rest we help escape.

Oh shit, I just realized, remember some of the slaves themselves are murderers and rapists.

>>33497394
We've got other methods, and we're doing all the sub-quests, regardless.

>>33497433
Lightning Halo improves our pre-existent spell-like abilities by a greater margin than LM3.
>>
>>33497496
I have to disagree.
Mainly because Titan's Endurance is 10 experience, not six, so we'd only be able to save one for spells.

Also because I think it's kinda bad, due to the high DE cost to ignore any damage that would've hurt us in the first place.
>>
>>33497496
Actually, if we have the possibility of buying spells which prevent Scrying, I think that would be an excellent investment either currently or in the future.

I...anon the whole reason we almost got magical realm'd this time is due to poison.
Remember? He slipped us a knockout drug and that's the only reason we didn't regain consciousness before him?
>>
>>33497543
>Actually, if we have the possibility of buying spells which prevent Scrying, I think that would be an excellent investment either currently or in the future.
holy shit that is good point
remember that TWO priests have hired this bounty hunted to get us without ever hearing about us.
they merely sensed our existence in this world and then scryed upon us!

Another HUGE reason to invest heavily in sorcery is that if we can take down the ward then not only are our powers better, but we can get other people trained as paladins AND we can use the HORN!

If we use the horn we could strike massive blows to the enemy.

Oh, and we could get the rest of the party back from our world into this one.
>>
>>33497561

Believe what you want. Although if magical realms scare you that much, I question if this quest is for you, since they are
>implied
on fairly regular basis.
So far we've been for the most part capable of not driving the threads to the ground and I'd like to believe we can keep doing that. Having power to help our friend bring a baby to the world faster than normal is unlikely to change that. OP was never particularly graphic either btw, so you don't need to worry about that.

use it to buy "dragon magic" power

as a bonus, this will accelerate the familiar's growth

I can back that, and I'm the guy that made the other list.

>>33497703
Ha, no.
Save for sorcerer's magic level 3, it's way more useful and *also* boosts Ebby.
We only have 1/3 powers needed for her next growth level for now.

>Save for sorcerer's magic level 3, it's way more useful and *also* boosts Ebby.
sorcerer counts too? I thought it was only dragon powers (remember, we had sorcerer talen before the dragon bond)

Ok, thread over, thanks to everyone for playing, and sorry about the mistakes I made – such as only posting half a post at one point, that’ll teach me to keep my pre-written paragraphs in the same file as my on-the-spot stuff.

You didn’t end up going to the undead circus and seeing the skeleton clowns performing an abbott and costello sketch. This may appear as a non-canon story at some point.

Feel free to discuss XP options in this thread, I’ll check the archive tomorrow.

Next thread is 12 BST tomorrow – 12 hours 40 minutes from now.

Autism Anon, please feel free to post error list, I thank you for your efforts and will check archives in the morning and make corrections.

I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did, and please make one last Intelligence check 1d20+1 – you may have spotted something OOC anyway, but if not I’ll point it out IC, since its important.

Next thread begins dark sister quest. It has the most pitfalls of all 3 quests, prepare your paranoia.

>>33497822
what does int actually do? and willpower?
that is, are we going by the "modifier" as per DnD? where a 16 gives +3 and a 18 a +4?

in which case raising will from 16 to 18 would cost 6 points (4-1+4-1) and give us.... a +1 to all will rolls?
mmm, seems a bit low.
then again, some will rolls are not about casting a spell at enemies which is where most our will buffs are.

Keep in mind, some of these are suggestions and you don't *have* to take them OP.

Autism Rising

Rules formatting error:
Some abilities display only unpurchased ranks, while other abilities display all ranks and sometimes have '(already possessed)' after acquired ranks. Please decide on which you would prefer to make universal. (I'd prefer only displaying unpurchased ranks, myself)

Rules formatting error:
>Angelic (elemental) Powers
Should be:
>Angelic Powers (Elemental)
To fit with the formatting of other Angelic powers

Rules formatting error/suggestion:
>Raising a stat by 1 costs 1 XP, to a maximum stat of 12.
>Once you’re at 12
>Raising a stat by 1 costs 2 XP, to a maximum stat of 14.
>Once you’re at 14
>Raising a stat by 1 costs 3 XP, to a maximum stat of 16.
>Once you’re at 16
>Raising a stat by 1 costs 4 XP, to a maximum stat of 18.
Should be formatted as:
>Raising a stat by 1 costs 1 XP, to a maximum stat of 12.
>Once you’re at 12 raising a stat by 1 costs 2 XP, to a maximum stat of 14.
>Once you’re at 14 raising a stat by 1 costs 3 XP, to a maximum stat of 16.
>Once you’re at 16 raising a stat by 1 costs 4 XP, to a maximum stat of 18.
Possibly include commas after 12/14/16, but I don't think it's necessary.

Rules error:
>Both cost 1XP per point purchased until you double your base points, then the cost rises to 2XP per point. Base HP is currently 9, Base Divine Energy is 12. Bases may change in future.
Base HP is 56, 16 (I think) if Giant's Endurance doesn't count as a base increase. Divine Energy has 14 as it's base.
I realize that it says 'bases may change', but that's no excuse for leaving fraudulent information just lying around.

Rules formatting error/question
>Angelic Powers (warrior)
The w in warrior would look better capitalized.
Instead, could we just get the (properly capitalized) name for the angelic warrior caste put in there?

Second half of the error dump to follow.
>>
>>33497703
changing this vote to sorc 3 saving. because its better.
we will get this later though, since this is an awesome ability which we really do want.
>>
>>33497890

Intelligence help with knowledge, investigation and finding information checks, and it's pretty weak with us (since we have no passives to enhance it, I expect there will be some draconic ones available sooner or later)

Willpower is used to spell offense and defense
>>
if we could only afford to save up to
>Angels Magic: As the child of an Eladrin, your mystical powers are particularly strong.
>3 - You add +4 Willpower, and gain 30 extra Arcane Energy, you reduce the XP cost of learning new spells by 3.
before spending any more XP on spells

Autism Rising: Part 2

Rules formatting error/suggestion:
Formatting is weird between levels and extrapolatives sometimes.

For readabilities' sake, it should universally be:
>Ability: Description
>Level 1 - [R1 Description]
>Level 2 - [R2 Description]
>Level 3 - [R3 Description]

>Extrapolative 1: [E1 Description]

>List-Type Extrapolative (i.e. Titan Peripherals): [Description]
> [Capability 1]
> [Capability 2]
> [Etc.]

>Extrapolative 2: [E2 Description]

Sanctuary is a good example of this style formatting, and the way Divine Warrior extrapolatives are listed right now is a good example of why this formatting should be universal.

CS error/suggestion:
Arcane and Divine Energies both have their bases displayed so we can know what base*2 is, HP, however, does not; I don't know if the HP added by Giant's Endurance counts as a base increase or not for the purposes of increasing HP with XP.
Either way, base HP is something that should be displayed.

CS error:
Divine Warrior is still listing both the first and second ranks. Only the second rank should be displayed, listing both is redundant since we can't 'downshift' the power.

Once again, everything is still amazing, you are amazing, nobodies going to judge you over these errors or formatting weirdness that only I really care about because muh autism, etc.
>>
>>33497936
I meant mechanically, does it basically give +1 to roll per 2 ability points?

Does raising will / int increase our spell points?
>>
>>33497951
I would love if the taken/not taken note was at the begining near the level number for ease of parsing

Speaking of investigation, how are we going to prove that that noble asshole set us up?
We got a witness but he is the one who captured us
>>
>>33497951
>List-Type Extrapolative (i.e. Titan Peripherals): [Description]
> [Capability 1]
> [Capability 2]
> [Etc.]

Shit, that didn't paste right.
Those spaces next to each [Capability] are supposed to be the kind of indentation you get from hitting the tab key, but evidently 4chan hates those.

Oh well, question dump inbound.

>Raising a stat (text)
Should be formatted as:
>Raising a stat by 1 costs 1 XP, to a maximum stat of 12.
>Once you’re at 12 raising a stat by 1 costs 2 XP, to a maximum stat of 14.
I actually prefer the QM's current style with this. It's less of a wall of text a numbers. It helps those who don't wade through numbers regularly (unlike you or I) to understand what they're seeing.

I think the AE formula is (Willmod + 10 + Bonus)
So in our case, (4 + 10 + 20) = 34.

>>
And now for some questions/requests/other autistic bullshit:

Can peripherals that can be chosen multiple times only be chosen an equivalent amount of times to the number of ranks you have in their parent skill, or can you just select them over and over again infinitely?
The former is far more balanced, because if it's the latter, then Blessed Toughness makes regular health purchasing totally obselete.
Not to mention other multiple time peripherals like Intense Lightning.

Does Intense lightning have a 1/2/3 x2/x3/x4 kind of doubling, or is it x2/x4/x8?
Again, the former is better because it doesn't result in game-breaking amounts of damage.

Do skills have any kind of cap to how many times they can be taken?
Like the modifier of their governing skill governing how high they can rise or capping out at 5 ranks.

The Favored of Velya discount only appeared after we got our full suite of powers, but was this intentional or was it that the idea of discounting powers aligned to our god only occur to you later?

I'm typing these up on Thursday, and I'm going to check the CS and Rules before posting to try and make sure they're all still valid.
However, I might still accidentally leave one or two things that you've already corrected in, in which case I apologize for wasting your time.

I had no time-consuming commitments Thursday, so I just stayed at home and read the character and rules sheets 37 times.

>Next thread begins dark sister quest. It has the most pitfalls of all 3 quests, prepare your paranoia.
Wait what?
Don't we still need to finish off the last bits of IoS?
Or is that going to be wrapped up in the OP of next thread?
Because I was really looking forward to the scene where we make our return known to the Regency Council.

Also:
>You didn’t end up going to the undead circus and seeing the skeleton clowns performing an abbott and costello sketch.
I regret everything.

See you next time OP, thanks for the thread.
>>
Just so OP can easily find the list when he wakes up amongst the minor debate about powers:

>Lightning Halo -6 AXP -2 GXP
>Blessed Health 2 -5 PXP -1 GXP
>Dedicate remaining 5 GXP towards Sorc Magic 3

If you could *actually* put that XP down as being dedicated to SM3, that'd be great.
Just so nobody next thread gets confused as to why there's 5 unspent GXP, something that's never happened before.
>>
Oh yeah, thanks for that picture of the guy wearing the santa hat, goggles, and tiny car. I thought it was an interesting form of praise.
>>
>>33498084
I'm just reading the pastebin. Must be how my mind is structured.
>>33498084
I'd highly suggest something that stop scrying, then. Maximizing gains is one thing, but we have to have some reasonable abilities to hold off our enemies while we're doing so (and since the spells here seem similar to 3.5, getting scrying & anti-scrying up is key).
>>
>>33498444
Well, the ability to *disrupt* scrying is actually a level 3 spell called False Impression, though we may be able to get an artifact of some kind, like what the IoS nobles have.
But yeah, that's the #1 L3 spell on my list once we get SM3.

There is a L2 spell to *detect* scrying, but that's not as useful without being able to disrupt it.

Also, note that I said Angel ability, as in purchased predominantly with Angelic XP.
Usually.
>>
>>33498518
Getting Detect Scrying would be quite useful, as it would allow us to tailor what we talk about and how we talk about it.
