You stand surrounded by chunks of pulsating flesh with a grin on your face. More of the pink mass gushes from your fingertips as yet another pleasant wave of mana runs through your body.
It shifts; mouths and eyes opening on its surface as it consumes everything in its way.
You laugh as you watch your creation cover the world.

Then you wake up.

You are the heir of Aaflyn bloodline and a mage with affinity of flesh. You discovered this only yesterday when you got your grandfather’s inheritance, the most important of which is a grimoire containing all your bloodline’s magical knowledge.

You take a look at your surroundings. You are lying on your old friend’s couch, the television is showing news about an explosion that happened in some apartment downtown and your host is sitting on the floor next to the bed staring at you.
> What do you do?

[] Get up, eat breakfast.
[] Stare back into the abyss that is your old friend’s eyes.
[] “What are you doing?”
[] You’re still high on mana, just lie down and enjoy it.
[] You get a feeling you forgot something….

[X] When you gaze into the abyss…
You turn your attention to Cecil as she keeps staring at you with her usual unreadable expression. You lock eyes with her and stare intently.

You see your own reflection surrounded by darkness on her pupil. For a moment you wonder the philosophical meanings of such but your trail of though is interrupted by her intensifying stare.
You refuse to allow mere mortal to overcome you and stare back!

It takes all your willpower to not avert your eyes sooner as you can almost feel her stare. In the end you are forced to give in, for you are no match for she-who-looks.

While her expression remains the same, you swear it somehow feels smugger than before.

[X] Breakfast!
For a moment you feel like throwing yourself at her and gobbling her up but you decide against it, no matter how delicious she looks...

Now that you think about it, you do feel hungry. The last time you ate anything was… yesterday morning.

“So, what do you want to do for breakfast?” You ask innocently.

She thinks for a while before going to the fridge, opening it just to find it empty, then proceeding to look through every cabinet until finding a porridge packet with label saying ‘just add water!’. Food is food, you suppose.

She boils some water, pours some into a coffee pot through a filter and adds rest to two bowls with some of the porridge powder in them.

You add some sugar on it and it tastes edible.

[X] Convenience store.
“You know what, I’m going to get something from a convenience store.” You say and put down the plateful of gruel you were handed.

Cecil just nods and takes it back as you grab your key and leave the apartment.

On your way you stop by your apartment building to find the whole street closed by the police and no matter how much they try to hide it with tarp, you can see people scrubbing something red and pink off the walls of the opposite building.
There are also news crews and ambulances present.

Other than that, the trip is rather uneventful.
You arrive to your destination; a decent sized convenience store within walking distance from your apartment.

You enter the store and decide what you want to take.

[] A frozen breakfast pack; you can use seasoning to make them decent.
[] Fresh ingredients for breakfast, you could throw together some bacon and eggs or pancakes…
[] Grab a sack of cheap rice and noodles along with frozen vegetables and some meat while you’re at it; enough for a cheap dinner for two for at least the next few weeks.
[] Spare no costs, fresh ingredients for the two of you.

[X] Food.
You take enough cheap food to last for a while. It’s not more expensive than what you usually eat, though the fact that you’re buying for two means your funds for the month are almost spent.

rolled: 85=Fine

As you’re heading back, a huge ball of fiery death strikes the road before you and while you do manage to steer your moped out of the way, you lose control of the vehicle.
Barely avoiding a streetlight, you lose balance and fall off.

Quickly getting back on your feet you look for the source of the fire. A tall man you estimate to be around 30 years old stands on the road blocking the direction you were heading to.
Flames rise from his hands as he begins to cast.

>Available spells:
>Conjure flesh: You can conjure fleshy substance out of your hands.
>Bolt: Launches a ball of fleshy mass at high speed. Rather sticky and can be used to glue objects to one another
>Shield: Creates a wall of flesh, protecting you from an attack.
>Calling: Requires preparation. Series of fleshy appendages rise from the ground and try to grab anything nearby.
>Endure: Makes an object more durable. Can be used on conjured things.

You feel the heat through the shield burning your fingertips slightly as the flames strike your shield with the smell of burning flesh surrounding you.

“I live here and I do so without suddenly throwing fire at somebody.” You answer the man’s question.

“Is that so? I’m quite sure I would know if another mage had built a sanctuary within this city.” You have no idea what he’s talking about, but you guess it’s a mage thing.

“I awakened just recently. Also, why the fuck is your first instinct to throw fire at people? Have you considered talking BEFORE attacking?” He winces, probably realizing his mistake.

“Well, if you found leftover mana at the same place as bunch of human meat hanging from a goddamn building, maybe you too would be a bit more jumpy.”

Your mana high is starting to settle down.

“Look, kid, it’s considered polite to pay local mages a visit before moving into a town just to avoid this shit.” Before he has time to say more you hear his phone ringing. “Excuse me.”

As he pulls it out and checks the screen his eyes grow wider.

“Something came up. Take care and don’t do anything stupid, okay?” He says quickly before floating away.

[X] Back to the apartment.
You decide to ignore the mage and get back to the apartment. You haven’t even had breakfast yet.

You return to the moped. Fortunately, neither the vehicle nor the food seems to have taken too much damage. The trip back to the apartment is uneventful.

You knock on the door and Cecil opens the door for you. She gives the food sacks a strange look as you carry them into the room and set them in the kitchen corner. You hand her any perishables and she puts them in the fridge.

She looks at the food and then gives you a questioning look. “This is?”

“Well, I figured that if I’m going to freeload here for now I might as well get us some food.”

“I can’t cook.” She mumbles as you dig through the kitchen cupboards looking for a pot and a pan.

“Oh, don’t worry about that, I can put something together.” You say as you put water on the stove and move to get some rice.

Satisfied with that she turns to watch the TV. They’re showing some nature documentary.

You finish cooking, having made rice with some pieces of meat and a cup of coffee. Sure, you burnt the meat a bit but it’s nothing some seasoning won’t cover.

You decide to try something as you grab the book that is still floating at your hip. You make sure the cover with the eye is clearly visible and facing Cecil. “Hey.” You say, trying to get her attention.
She turns to you, completely ignoring the book with a huge eye checking the room, and gives you a questioning look. Well, that’s interesting.

Feeling slightly embarrassed you quickly come up with something to say. “What are you doing?”

She turns her phone’s screen towards you, showing that she’s reading something in the internet before continuing what she was doing.

You too decide to do your thing.

“Casting methods.
There are many ways to use magic.
Those of the arcane bloodlines are capable of tapping straight into their inner mana and making it manifest. While this is considered the superior method, it does not always get the best result.

Other common methods are alchemy, the art of mixing mana of two or more objects, rune casting, the art of using pre-made runes to manifest new magical effects, and ritual casting, the art of shaping mana in certain ways to manifest new effects.”

With that, you are finished with the first chapter of the book.

[X] Barriers
You have trouble deciding what you want to know next.
In the end, you end up turning to the chapter devoted to barriers.

“Barriers are be used to protect or separate objects or places.
They are usually built in layers, each protecting against a different thing.

An example of layered barrier would be a one in which the first layer is built to keep out any uninvited person, the second to keep out foreign objects and the third to keep out any uninvited magical effects.

Most mages establish a barrier network called a sanctuary which completely separates an area - most commonly a building, though some have been known to turn cities into their personal sanctuaries - from the rest of the world, allowing the mage to do their experiments in peace.

Common barriers:
Shield, 1st circle, sometimes considered pure, a simple wall of magic prevent objects from passing.
Reject, 2nd circle, certain uninvited objects are pushed away from target.
Hide object, 3rd circle, target can only be perceived by certain individuals or under certain circumstances.
Protection from X, 4rd circle, creates a bubble which keeps something away from the target.
Sanctuary, 5th circle, used to separate an area from everything surrounding it.”

After that there are tens of pages of lists and notes, none of which you can make any sense of.

[X] Phone call.
You let the book fall back to its place at your hip and take your phone out of your pocket.
You know you’re going to have to do it eventually so you might as well do it now.

You select the number and after few beeps, an old man you recognize as your landlord picks it up. “Gary from City apartments, how may I help you?”

“Hi. I’m the resident from apartment 40-“Before you can finish the sentence, Gary interrupts you. “What the hell happened? Why did the fucking police call me before you did?”

“There’s an explanation for this. You see, I was out when it happened. I was at a friend’s place. I slept here too so I didn’t know about it until just now, though now that I think about it, there was this strange smell…” You hear your landlord sigh at the other end of the line.

“So you’re saying it was gas then? I hope the insurance company agrees, for your sake.
By the way, you may want to drop by the police station sometime soon, before they pronounce you dead or put a warrant on you.”

“I’ll keep that in mind. Have a nice day.” You hang up and let out a sigh of relief. That went better than you expected.

>Continued.
You leave the apartment, giving Cecil a quick goodbye to which she responds with a wave of hand.
You get on the moped and leave for the police station.

As soon as you enter, an older woman in uniform greets you and takes you to a small dark room in the back with two chairs and a table.
You should have seen this coming.

Soon another officer, a man closer to your age, arrives and takes a seat opposite of you.

“What happened last night?" He asks.
>What do you want to tell them?

[] Get your story straight (write-in).
>>
>>33448155
We already told our landlord that we were spending the night at a friend's place, and that we had been noticing a strange smell around the apartment.

Quick, did we meet anyone that could invalidate our alibi?
We should have told Cecil what to tell the police when they call her.

Did we go any place yesterday before we messed with the G. Tears that could support our alibi?
>>
>>33448155
Wait. Shouldn't I have a lawyer for this?
>>
>>33448232
I guess we need to think back and note what the MC did yesterday before he found the inheritance package.

>>
>>33448242

>>
>>33448296
Aslo, the problem with that is you don't have any idea what their preconceptions were.

For all we know someone that looked like us was seen doing crazy shit all day.
>>
>>33448359
Then what do we say? We've got no alibi and 15 hours where we have no idea what we were doing.
With all of the cameras in modern society, if we say that we went to any shops, the police will ask for the security tapes to check if we were actually there.
That's not getting into the investigators that the insurance company will bring to check to see if this claim about a gas leak is legit.
>>
>>33448402
That's why lawyering up is the sensible option when we have no idea what level of suspicion we're dealing with.

Maybe "I don't remember much except I found my apartment missing a roof, so I stayed at a friend's", at most. It's better to admit we lied to the landlord to assuage his feelings than to contradict what Cecil would say.

Followed immediately by "Am I being detained or am I free to go?" and/or lawyering up if detained.
>>

“What does that have to do with anything?” You keep feigning ignorance.

[X] Magic practice.

You want to spend some time practicing magic but first you need to find a secluded location.

There are few places that come to mind.

There’s bunch of old abandoned warehouses at the outskirts nobody has used in years. You actually used to go there to play as a kid whenever your parents had something to do in the city. Last time you checked they were still standing, albeit just barely.

There are also some more in the harbor which are closer to civilization and while they’re less likely to collapse, the chances of being seen are also greater.

You could also go to woods, though you’d have to leave the moped at the side of the road and walk for a while.

[X] Woods.

You head to the outskirts, passing the old warehouses, and continue further away from the city. The paved road ends as you start navigating old dirt roads until you feel like you’re far enough.

You leave your vehicle at the side of the road, marking the location on your cellphone’s map application, and continue even further away from civilization.
After about fifteen minutes of swift walking you find a small clearing with enough room for you to work in.

>cont.
>>
>>33453275
You focus on the mana flowing through your body, just having it materialize for a while, allowing streams of flesh flow from your fingertips as more and more mana gathers in your body. You swing your arm and the squishy substance bleeding from your fingertips strikes a tree, breaking some of its branches.

You temporarily stop the flow, focusing on a larger area before waving both of your hands in front of you, forming a wall of meat in the air. Once you stop feeding it more mana it falls to the ground, forming a squirming pile.

Next you draw a circle to the ground with your mana and fill it with seemingly random lines. It remains as is until you give it the final push with your will, making several tentacle-like appendages rise from it.
They flail wildly for some time, grabbing onto branches and tree trunks before another wave of your mana causes them to explode, scattering more of the flesh into your surroundings.

Yet another wave of mana runs through you, making you grin in delight.

You form a think line of mana, going through the trouble of carefully weaving it into a whip. You grab it and lash at a three, the mana in your body making it move faster and with more force than should be possible. Your weapon warps around it, the sheer force leaving tracks on its trunk. You let out a small giggle as the five meter three falls.

> New spell: Whip of flesh, 2nd circle.

[X] On mana high.

You remember the feeling you get whenever you begin to cast magic, the feeling of invisibility as more mana flows through you and get slightly worried.

Hanging your jacket from a branch, you take a seat on a mound of meat and grab the book from your hip.

Before you can even voice your question, the grimoire gives you a satisfied grin before opening at a page titled “Mana”.
Most of it is written in jargon you can’t quite grasp but you do manage find the information you’re looking for.

Apparently, the mana high is a mental effect most people who are not used to it suffer when being imbued with enough mana.

It’s described to be closer to a power trip than a chemically induced high, being the result of the heightened senses and physical capabilities rather than mind-altering substances; the writer actually goes to great lengths to explain exactly why it’s not harmful at all and one shouldn’t be afraid of it, as it’s a natural part of growing as a mage.

You close the book, noticing more birds have gathered to feast. You manage to brush the squishy flesh off the jacket, though there are still blood stains on it.
> You know the drill.

reasons for crowbro

Crow seems to win unanimously.

I'll eat something, then start writing.

cool, maybe even a murder of crows
see if we can see out of their eyes, saruman this shit
>>
Are we going to be able to go full Geneforge mode and Shape? Or are we limited to biomass?
>>
>>33455883
i assume we will get more finesse the more we practice, even make temporary doubles of ourselves, as diversions, so we could run away

[X] Crows.

You grab some meat from the mound and try offering it to one of the crows.

It turns to look at you as you approach it and lets out a loud “Kaw”. You keep slowly moving closer until the bird takes flight, going to a slightly higher branch and eyes you with suspicion.

>Move on to another crow
>>
>>33455967
Don't try to force the issue, just hold out the flesh for any crow willing to come close
>>
>>33455967
quickly scan the book about familiars, see if there is a way to bond the crow to us
and keep offering it meat
also look on vanishing summoned stuff, so we can remove the crows other food options, and evidence of our practice sessions
>>
>>33455967
Hold out the flesh, and when they come, attempt to infuse their beings with some of your mana.
>>
>>33455967
try to think calm thoughts and think about friendship and project them out into an aura with our mana
>>
>>33455883
For now, your abilities are limited to making blobs of flesh, though with practice you can learn to do finer things that require more precise control like magical nerves that allow you to control stuff remotely (or mundane nerves you can connect to someone), the stuff about eyes and mouths you dreamed of in the OP is also something you can learn to do.

When it comes to magic, if you can think of it you can probably learn to do it.

We need a spell that melts peoples face

Haven't you played Mortal Kombat?
>>
Lets throw human shaped dolls and clothes off of buildings and make it look like huge mass suicides
>>
>>33456645
I think we need to work on our understanding of human biology before we can make working ones that the media won't report as "human shaped flesh bags thrown from buildings, police looking for clues"
>>
>>33456685
All we need is to create some organs and flesh then mash them together throw into bag and then then off the roof

[X] Familiars.

You keep holding out the flesh on one hand and grab the book with another. It once again flips open without having to say anything, this time at a page in chapter of ‘masters’. Your eyes naturally fall on a line with a spell on it:

“Binding, 3rd circle, creates a link between the mage and another being that can be modified to serve various purposes.
Casting: Mark the target with the caster’s mana-infused blood, draw a large circle with it, set an object related to the target in the middle of it, draw a smaller circle around it and connect the two circles with exactly eight lines equal in length at even intervals. The target must be in the space between these two circles when it is activated.”

The crow has flown to a slightly closer branch.

Yeah do that one.

Assuming mana infused blood is as easy to make as it sounds
>>
>>33457212
May take a good deal of effort, but it's worth a shot. Might have to snag a feather too?
>>
>>33457212
Crow would good to have as a familiar, though the spells looks complicated enough that I think it's supposed to be used on willing targets. Then again, the word binding makes it seem more unwilling...
How long until the consensus becomes to bind Cecil with this spell?
>>
>>33457355
we are totally gonna bind cecil with magic and by magic, i mean our dick
>>
>>33457355
Not like there's limit on times used

>>

We should check the book to see if human binding is forbidden by other Mages. The last thing we want is to be targeted by a wizard SWAT team.
>>
>>33457492
Deja vu?

Yes.

What if we combine Cecil and Crow for flying and loyal waifu minion?

Consensus seems to be trying to befriend the bird and start preparing the circle.

[X] Friends and rituals.

You make eye contact with the bird and pour some more mana into the meat you’re holding. It immediately comes back to ‘life’ and begins to pulsate, catching the bird’s attention. The crow flies closer once again to inspect the bait.

You wince as you bite the burned skin of your left index finger and infuse mana into the dripping blood.

The animal looks at you curiously tilting its head.

Conjuring some more flesh you feel mana washing through you. The bird moves a bit closer and you lower the bait closer to the crow that is now standing on the ground just few meters away from you.
With slow, careful movements you pour some of the mana-infused blood on the piece of meat and set it on the ground in front of you.

The crow’s eyes alter between you and the bait few times before it takes it. Your mana-enhanced reflexes allow you to snag a feather from the bird as it’s preoccupied by the food before it can react.

You get up from the ground and squeeze more blood out of the self-inflicted wound onto your other hand as you begin your work.

It takes you a lot of mana and almost two hours to get the circle prepared. For the whole time the crow has observed you from a nearby tree, one well within the circle, as you throw it an occasional piece of meat.

Finally you finish the last line, throwing yet another piece of flesh on the ground. You quickly will the circle to activate, pouring some mana into it.

>cont.
>>
>>33458505
The circle hisses as the lines shine, turning into fleshy appendages. They grab the crow just as it tries to take flight and pull it to the middle, pinning it against the ground where the feather was. You feel a slight tug within you as the tentacles cover the bird.

The process itself takes half a minute, after which you feel an invisible, string-like connection between yourself and the crow that has now been released and is standing where the center used to be.

Crow and fleshomancer leaving reams of flesh on stuff for it to eat is pretty metal.
>>
>>33458679
neat, gonna make 1 tonight?
is there a way where we could become a sort of 'biomancer' , warping our own flesh to be stronger, faster etc, I saw that mana can make your reflexes faster, but could we go further?
building on that, could we make complex flesh sculptures, people, animals etc?
>>
>>33458679
What would happen if we followed fire guy?
Do dragons exist?
Would we need to team up with some fire dude to create dragons?
Is combining Cecil and Crow possible?
Can we make Cecil capable of using magic?
Does our magic require that we wont lose virginity?
