The curtain of fire blocks your line of sight, but if Meckor hasn’t moved, you don’t need eyes on target. You drop Waldric and step forward in front of Ro, and aim your gun at about where you remember Meckor being when you last saw him, and start shooting. After a few shots, you feel more or less like now’s the time to rip his throat out, so you drop the gun.

Rowan senses what you’re about to do before you do it. “No!” you hear her say from behind you. and sprint forward under the guidance of blind instinct, directly into the heart of the inferno.

It’s like running up a waterfall. The fire envelopes, singing off the condapede blood that’s splattered on you. Your clothes smoke and burn against your skin, though they don’t disintegrate like they should. You feel some other kind of power, not your own, resisting the destruction meant for you. You lean forward into the blaze and force forward.

It’s hotter than you thought it would be, and your skin tingles painfully. You feel that weird, otherworldly energy around you contest actively against the incredible heat, but it’s weakening. You can feel the power fracturing around you.

But then your head comes out of the fire, and you find yourself face to face with Meckor, his boney visage contorting into one of detestation at your surprise appearance. He has no time to react.
>>
>>33403440

You spring forth from the flames and tackle into him, biting, clawing, and screaming mercilessly at him as you try to tear him apart at the seams. The fire flowing off of him doesn’t even register as a problem.

The ferocity and intensity of your antagonism catches Meckor off guard. To be honest, it catches even you off guard. But this is the guy responsible for all kinds of stuff that makes you mad. Like Trevon burning down your pad and getting your friends killed. Or when Nabuth tried to kill you, and you wound up hurting Ro and killing some random guy you still don’t want to think about. And when that freaking demon tried to hunt you and Rowan down when you were both hurt, and kidnaping people for slaves, and just a couple of days ago when you almost drowned – in this moment, everything in the world is his fault, and you make him pay for it.

Trying to kill this guy focuses you in a way that you haven’t felt focused before. He’s evil. You can kill him and he deserves it. (-15 Stress: 41/100) (+2 Sanity: 96/100) You feel his power surge into you even as your claws rake across his face, catch in his fatigues, and scrape over his breastplate. (+6 PP: 23/26)

And yet, you feel that something isn’t happening that should be. There’s no blood. No panic. And Meckor’s not struggling as much as he should.
>>
>>33403487

This thought crosses your mind a second before Meckor grabs one of you by the wrist mid-strike, and delivers the strongest punch to your face that you’ve ever been punched with before. Like, bar none. (-2 HP: 15/26)

You jerk backward long enough for Meckor to get a boot in your gut, and he kicks you off of him. You hit the road a second later, slightly dazed, but not too shaken to pop back up to your feet.

Meckor twists on the ground and gets his feet under him, looking up at you with flaming eyes, unscathed by your assault. He doesn’t have a scratch on him. Not even his fatigues are torn. (Lord General Meckor: 20/20 HP)

“Power without sustenance,” he says derisively to you, though you think he may be more of talking to himself at this point. You feel a surge of hidden energy in the air. You don’t have much time to counter whatever he’s about to do. With the focused, passionate hatred with which he stares at you though, you be it can’t be good.

But he’s so distracted with you that he’s given Ro the time she needs to grab the gun from where you dropped it and bring it up to bear on Meckor. The ground between them steams and smokes, the asphalt melted where the fire had passed over it. Then Roawn flares with glorious light. Her gun turns gold, and she fires a tight burst of thunderbolts right into the demon’s shoulder.
>>
>>33403517

He’s knocked backward into the front of Vikrama’s car, and leaves a big dent when he shakes himself uses the bumper to push himself back to his feet, only slightly phased by the wounds in his arm. (Lord General Meckor: 17/20 HP) He gives a seething look at Rowan. “And the brood of butchers closes ranks with the corrupted fruit of the Imperiate's womb,” he says flatly to himself, almost shaking with pure, unadulterated loathing. His eyes turn from their yellow glow to a bright blue. The flames coating him follow a second afterward in changing hue, leaving him covered in such intense heat that it causes the road beneath him to crack.

Rowan stares at him, wide eyed. She has no more bullets, and you can see the waves of heat pulsing out from the general are painful to her. She grabs Waldric and starts dragging him away, trying to shield her face from the heat with an off arm.

And then the flames disappear as does the heat, and Meckor forgets Rowan to turn his attention to you. He begins walking toward where you stand, eyes fixed to your own, keeping his arms low and to the sides.

Corrupt: Focuses hate into a nearby object, imbuing it with tainted energy and causing it to become untouchable for a duration of time. This effect has visible effect. Hellions probably also have an ability that lets them regen PP faster, being the most mage-like of all demon bloodlines (that we know of).
Probably comes at the cost of him not being able to get any really good forms of Infernus regen, like that +3 HP/turn that Trevon had.
>>
>>33404462
>Probably comes at the cost of him not being able to get any really good forms of Infernus regen, like that +3 HP/turn that Trevon had.
I still want Sierra to get that. That's just a lower priority at the moment (seriously, HP is almost never our limiting factor currently) than getting more Belphagoran stuff to deal with tanks and other physical powerhouses - like Meckor/Ranthix.
>>
>>33404321
Do you think Rowan can cast that holy thing on our claws? Because that would be really handy right now.

This is bad. You’ve thrown everything at him. Nothing does anything. Rowan couldn’t do anything. And Meckor doesn’t want anything from you, either. It’s not like you can talk your way out of this. All he wants is for you to be dead. You can’t fight him. You’re pretty much powerless against him.

To top it all off, you’re afraid.

You make use of your fear and press it together before you. It’s a hasty move, but you fling at Meckor anyway – you need to buy yourself time. (-5 PP: 18/26) (+5 Stress: 46/100)

Meckor raises a hand at the unseen force of negative energy, catches it, and crushes it into nothing in his fist. “Four hundred years gone to waste, hellborn filth,” he says, his voice carrying with it a disconcerting cadence of something that hurts to process. (-1 Sanity: 95/100)

You whip out your other hand and summon an imp into existence at your fingertips.

When your imp spirals down to nip at the back of Meckor’s head, he twitches his neck and the fire within the small creature turns blue, then green. The imp spirals out of the air with a pathetic yowl, and is consumed by its own fire before it touches the ground. “A lifetime in the cause of glory, despoiled,” he says, his words searing into your mind. (-2 Sanity: 93/100) (+7 Stress: 53/100)
>>
>>33404992

You’re running out of tricks. You try to muster up the hatred necessary to corrupt the approaching demon’s armor, but your concentration is breaking, and it fizzles out before it even does what you wanted it to do. (-2 PP: 16/26) (+1 Stress: 54/100)

Nothing works. You have to run. You turn around and run fast. You don’t take the time to look behind you at the thing pursuing you. In the reflections of windows, however, you see crooked lines of lightning, and you can feel a hard electrical charge in the air.

And then your muscles freeze up painfully, and you collapse mid run to the ground, seizing up with a fire that burns all of your nerves at the same time. It feels like an eternity, but just as abruptly as it begins, it ends, and you’re left twitching on the ground, smoke rising from the surface of your skin. You feel like you’re going to throw up. (+25 Stress: 79/100) (-4 HP: 11/26)

You see a pair of boots step up to you, well out of arm’s reach. You feel another charge of electricity building nearby, and manage to look upward and Meckor, who points a finger at you, while a tongue of live lightning snaps and jolts about the length of his arm.

Still twitching from having been electrocuted for who knows how long, you fight to get to your feet, but manage only to kind of get into a sitting position. You can taste your blood in your mouth. You look around, hoping to see somebody coming your way, but then you look behind you and see an unpleasant face.
>>
>>33405017

“Ah you found her,” says Philostrathus, suddenly behind you somehow.

She seems shaken from her experience with you earlier, but that doesn't stop her making up any more of those damn centipede snake things. A couple of them are crawling out from behind her back as she speaks. She smiles blissfully down at you, far enough away not to be someone you can reach easily.

Meckor ignores Philo, and keeps his attention on you. “Your foul little life mocks her memory no more,” he says in a low growl, pointing his lightning-infused arm at your heart.

You’ve… you have to do something. Anything.

“Well you’re the one mocking her memory now, you fucking asshole,” you shout at him. But then an idea comes to your mind. You laugh in his face. “I get it now,” you say, feeling giddy. “It explains everything. Human stole your girl, huh? So’d you ever like, hit on my mom then?”

”I should have executed him,” says Meckor. “Before he made her weak. Before you made her weak. I’m so sorry, my Queen,” a vague look comes over him, and his arm tenses, ready to bolt you with lightning.

And then you explode. (+10 Stress: 89/100) (-8 PP: 3/26)

Philostrathus explodes into sparks as she is wont to do, while her snakes are all reduced to ash.

Meckor stands firm against the explosion, and when it’s over, he glares down at you, breathing heavily. (Lord General Meckor: 16/20 HPElectricity arcs everywhere as he powers up to fry you from the inside out. “It finally ends,” he says.

But your exploding has hidden from him the sudden appearance and approach of something fast.

A series of footfalls in creccendo pounds along from the side, and a massive form charges out of your peripheral vision. Ranthix lunges at Meckor with the speed and weight of a pickup truck, his hide smoked, cracked, and bloodied. (Ranthix: 19/51 HP) “LONG LIVE THE IMPERIATE,” he thunders. “MAY SHE REIGN TEN THOUSAND YEARS!”

Then then he collides with Meckor, and the two go tumbling off into a ball, like cats fighting.

The distraction gives you more than enough time to get back to your feet, and remember how to move again. The peril of unavoidable death lifted, you’re feeling pretty good. (-15 Stress: 74/100)

Hipster guy comes sprinting up the road from the direction Ranthix came from, putting you between him and the huge Infernus. He has odd, segmented skin, like the leathery armored plates Ranthix has, but less thick and more subtle, and he has fine, pointed horns, short, small, and sharp. Add to that a pair of black claws, and that’s actually getting somewhere worthy of your consideration. “Lord General!” he yells.

Meckor breaks free of Ranthix’s headlock long enough to speak. “Kill the hellborn!” he says, just before Ranthix seizes him by the horns and heaves him through the front of a jewelery store, setting off like, a jillion alarms.

“TREASON!” Ranthix says, bursting into flames as he leaps into the store after Meckor. “ALL OF YOU ARE TREASON!!”

“Ranthix you idiot!” shrieks Philstrathus, walking out from behind a parked car as if she’d been there all along, three, four condapedes slithering out from her form. “You can’t commit treason against an empire that doesn’t exist!”
>>
>>33406462

“Let Meckor deal with the traitor,” says the hipster, focusing his attention on you. A trickle of blood runs down his face from his nose, which is slightly scewed to one side. He smiles, and flexes his claws. “Try it again. I dare you,” he says.

With the Hipster and Philostrathus focusing their intention on you. Unfortunately, both of them are between you and where Rowan is. Or maybe that’s a good thing? If they’re with you, they’re certainly not killing them. Unless they killed them already. You try to stop thinking about that. (+5 Stress: 79/100)

You shake out your fire whip. (-2 PP: 1/26) “You guys know Meckor’s insane, right?” you ask, circling around the Belphegoran as you edge toward Philostrathus and her snakes.

“The Lord General is a brilliant man,” says the hipster, wary of possible attack. “It doesn’t shock me some backwater bastard doesn’t grasp the methodology.”

You snort, keeping an eye on Philo’s approaching serpents. “Do you, even? This whole invasion shtick, it’s not going to work out,” you say. “Why do you think Waldric bailed on you guys? Like, he’s an ass, but he’s not stupid! Meckor’s having weirdo flashbacks about how him and my mom were never a thing back in the day and boy, he’s got some serious issues – I mean, maybe he used to be good at conquering and stuff, but that’s the last thing on his mind now.”

One of Philo’s snakes comes at you, and you crack your whip across its face. Its head explodes, and its body goes limp. Its master, however, laughs ruefully at you. “You may be blind to it, but the majesty of Meckor’s dreams are on the cusp of reality!” says Philostrathus. “Chthonia will rise from the ashes with twice the splendor, for I have seen it, and it is beautiful!” She begins laughing wildly, in elation at the vision of it, which no doubt plays before her eyes at this moment.

Well, you’re just about close enough, so you lay an exploding lash onto Philostrathus, cutting her frenzied laughter short as she explodes into nothingness. “Man, you guys are just as bad,” you say to yourself.
>>
>>33407833

You feel it more than you see it – a surge of negative energy, kind of like what you’ve been tossing around all these years. Except, it’s not yours. It’s building up with Hipster guy. You turn on him and start whipping at him, running sideways to outpace the remaining condapedes that Philostrathus has left behind. Seriously, it’s kind of gross how many of those things are crawling out around her all the time.

The Belphegoran dodges your whip strikes, and you dodge a couple invisible blasts of energy. You carefully avoid eye contact with the demon, not wanting to have a rehash experience like what you had with Cordeliate, and keep up the pressure. You see an opening, then, when he steps next to a park car, under which is more than enough shadow to accomplish what you want.

You narrow your eyes with him and prod the shadow with your will, it becoming an extension of your awareness. The shadow gushes out and wraps around Hipster’s skinny jean clad legs, gumming him up enough with the last vestiges of your power to get at least one solid hit on him. (-1 PP: 0/26)
>>
>>33407862
Yeah remember those guys who said we had enough PP to skip passives?

The lash crashes down on his shoulder and explodes, staggering him and setting his jacket on fire. The side of his head, neck, and part of the front of his body is charred from the blast. (Hipster: 18/24)

The jewelry shop is now fully aflame, and you can’t tell what’s going on in there, but whatever it is it sounds loud and violent. As much as you’d love to stick around and see who makes it out, you also don’t want to do that at all.

So while Hipster vampire is busy ripping off his jacket, you head for the hills. You doubt he can keep up with you now.

You run, noticing that your clothes still smoulder gently in the night air. You're getting tired, and you're not sure how much longer you can keep this kind of crap up.

You get a head start, but the Belphegoran is hot on your heels, and he’s a lot fresher than you are. Still, you’ve claimed a minor victory, and it makes you feel in control of what’s happening, even if you’re not. (-10 Stress: 69/100)

You force yourself to keep up speed, and grind your gears into hiding away your freaky features. If you can find people, you can get more energy for more fighting. Luckily, your running has been toward a main street, and even if it is in the middle of the night, there’s bound to be people someplace.

The only place you can think of, though, is maybe a bus stop or something. You wrack your mind for city knowledge, and recall that you’ve been in this part of San Fransisco before, a few months back. If memory serves you correct, you just need to turn onto that street and…. You round a corner and see it up ahead, the bus station sign. Between all the 24 hour stores, there are at least some people out here late at night, and there’s three at the bus stop. Jackpot!

You sprint at the people. A big fat guy and a couple seedy looking dudes look warily at your rapid approach, but even they aren’t expecting what happens when you run up toward them, clothes singed, tights torn, and cuts and bite marks on your arms and legs. “High fives!” you say, holding out a scraped up hand for the masses, not even caring if they see your fire whip.
>>
>>33408537

Almost reflexively they comply, holding out their hands for you to slap as you sprint by. Three rapid, stinging slaps later, and you’re getting somewhere. (+6 PP: 6/26)

“Dude, get me some of whatever she’s taking,” says one of the guys behind you, as you skid around a corner and dodge out of sight down a side road.

Philostrathus greets you. “This is an exercise in futility,” she says, snakes snapping up at you.

But you just jump the insect snake things and run by, and she doesn’t do much to stop you.

And then, a bright point of light forms in the air. You mistake it at first for a passing jet or something, but then fucking Meckor sails out of the sky out of nowhere and lands a stone’s throw in front of you, burning with bright yellow flames once again. He doesn’t look any worse for wear after his brush with Ranthix, but boy does he look pissed. (Lord General Meckor: 16/20)

You flip Meckor off and turn to the side, and run to the front doors of some building you think is residential. It’s locked, and you heatedly blast the lock with the darkness within to break it open. (-3 PP: 3/26) You barge inside and take off down the hall of doors, even as you hear pounding boots behind you as Meckor makes pursuit and ignites everything into flame as he goes. The flames almost immediately trigger the sprinklers, and all of his roiling fires are extinguished, as is his ability to produce lightning. You’re able to turn and weave enough to hold off any effort he makes at doing anything magical, but it doesn’t give you any real time to evade. Before you know it, you’re running out the back door of the building and into another side street.

You go to leap of the edge of the stairs that lead down the sidewalk when you feel a hand seize your jacket. You effortlessly slip out of it and jump forward and out of Meckor’s grasp, and into the middle of the street. You see a crooked little passage almost straight ahead, and you make a break for it, it being your only real way out of this mess.

You round the corner and see only one thing. Snakes. Fucking snakes everywhere, like, two dozen of them. They spill out before you, impossible and ugly and chittering. You almost get the feeling you could walk on them they’re stacked so high, but at the last second you dare not risk it. These things are bad news.
>>
>>33410059

And then you’re seized and grabbed by the neck, and hoisted into the air. You can feel his power going into you as Meckor’s skullface glowers at you, but it’s too little, too late. (+4 PP: 7/28) He shakes you violently with both hands wrapped around your neck as you struggle to break his grip, to tense your neck so he can’t cut off your windpipe or snap your neck. If it wasn’t for the pressure of shadows pressing back out against his grip, you have no doubt he’d just wring your head off or something.

“You stole her life!” he yells in your face, his bones dull without the glow of the flame to them. He’s still soaking wet. “You stole her from us!”

You feel pressure building in your skull. You’re going to pass out or explode or die or something. Your vision is swimming, and your claws just slip uselessly off his fingers. Fucking magic. (+17 Stress: 96/100) (-7 HP: 4/26)

As you’re about to pass out, something happens, and you’re dropped to the ground like a bag of rocks. You gasp for air and cough at the same time, which doesn’t really work, and you quickly regain your senses.

Meckor has fallen to a knee, and a glowing gold crossbow bolt sticks out of his side, right out of his breastplate, burning with smoking white mist that hurts to look at. (Lord General Meckor: 7/20 HP) “The butcher,” he breathes, looking to the source of the attack.
>>
>>33410077

Isaac walks confidently toward you as he feeds another bolt into his crossbow and starts reeling it up. The bolt starts smoking white as soon as its settled in place. “Meckor, this ends tonight,” he calls out, a gold halo fixed above his head. It’s not a ring of light so much as it is a solid gold band, glowing hazily in the night air.

Snakes pour out of the alleyway along with Philostrathus, and you see the Hipster come out of the door that Meckor pursued you through. His eyes widen at the sight of Isaac. “No,” says the Belphegoran, wincing at the pain speaking causes him with half his face burned off. “The demonbane is here!”

“Now is the time!” says Philostrathus. “Kill the heir!”

Meckor, however, is backing off from Isaac, and away from you. “The advantage is not ours,” he says. “We will avenge all when the time is right.”

“The time is right! The time of her doom is nigh!” Philostrathus yells. “It is now!”

The General, however, turns away and runs, picking up speed. Water steams off of him as he builds up heat – whatever he’s trying to do, the water’s keeping him from doing it.

Isaac takes aim at Meckor’s back.

The Belphegoran makes a beeline toward Philostrathus. “Run! Meckor commands it!”

“If he will not kill her, I will!” Philostrathus screams at the Hipster dude. And before you know it, a literal boiling mass of fucking condapedes is bearing down on you, faster than you can move or think. Oh no. (+4 Stress: 100/100)
>>
>>33410099

Stay calm – snakes, they’re no big deal, you reason with yourself as you see the nightmare roiling toward you. (-3 Sanity: 90/100)

You look back at Isaac – this is all almost over. But when you look at him, his aim is wavering at a point between Meckor and Philostrathus.

You see Isaac’s aim on Meckor waver at the sight of your impending doom. You probably won’t be eaten by snakes, but there’s not a chance in hell you’ll be able to go through that kind of crap without losing it.

While Philostrathus cackles at your impending doom, Meckor’s getting away – you’re not in mortal peril, not actually (maybe), but this could be the good guys’ team only shot at Meckor, and who knows what other BS he’ll cook up in the meantime if he escapes?

But what if you do lose it, and you wake up to some other dead guy? Or like, multiple dead people? That… you don’t know if you can handle that, not again.

Isaac seems torn between targets, but if he hesitates too long, it’ll be too late to take either shot.

>>33410133
>Shoot the bastard!

We don't have enough spare stress or PP to use Flare, which sucks, but we can probably cut a swath through them with our whip, hopefully enough to retreat and not splode.
>>
>>33410133
Use shadow to spring ourselves out of danger.
>>
Maybe, just maybe, seeing a golden bolt appear in Meckor's thrice-damned black heart will make us feel better about the impending flood of condapedes.
>>
>>33410133
>Shoot the bastard!
>Other
Do we have enough PP for a Flare right now?
>>
Okay, just so everyone knows, this is a really, really big deal. Barring some ultra crit roll, you're not going to worm your way out of the consequences.

>>33410273
Well if Isaac hadn't hesitated, he could have shot Meckor then helped us. I think everyone here is pretty certain what Sierra would say, Languid.
>>
>>33410273
Oh shit this is trading Meckor for Isaac isn't it!?
>>
>>33410273
Let's take the risk.
>>
>>33410133
>Help me!
>>
>>33410273
Well, fuck. I guess tell him to shoot the snake bitch, then.
>>
>>33410312

It's a crossbow. He can't load and fire two bolts fast enough to get Meckor and save you.

>>33410316

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but Isaac's not in danger. You are.

Anyway, it was your guys' crazy rolls that lead you to have this choice in the first place, so this is a good thing, kind of.
>>
>>33410329
Going with this.
>>
What if we used our Fire Whip to latch onto something and swing ourselves away?

Or, of all else fails, we corrupted ourself?
>>
>>33410273
>consequences

/tg/ is shit at dealing with consequences. But let's do it anyway.
>>
>>33410273
It'll probably end terribly.

But it's gets rid of the biggest threat we know of, and he probably won't be able to stop the swarm of murder-insects coming at us, so in all likelihood we're going to stress explode no matter what.
>>
>>33410273
Snake bitch it is then.
>>
>>33410363
>>33410312
But he could have shot Meckor immediately then used anything else he had to help up.
>>
>>33410390
Except he has nothing else.
>>
>>33410363
Well shit as long as poppa angle's okay lets go for it.
>>
>>33410376
I like this idea too but I think we don't have the time to pull ourselves away to safety here.
>>
>>33410376
>Corrupt ourself

Do it
>>
>>33410380

Unless Isaac fails horribly, he can help you. This isn't one of those, you have only one real decision and one outcome things.

>>33410390

He's far away, and there are too many snakes to deal with in any other way than doing something to Philostrathus.
>>
>>33410413
If we survive this, it might be an excellent time to remind him that carrying a firearm just in case is a really good idea.
>>
>>33410133
>Shoot the bastard!
>Inb4 we roll a nat one and get away scot-free
That probably won't happen, but oh well.

>>33410437
Covering ourself in hellfire might be a better idea.
Suffusing ourself in raw hate doesn't seem smart when we're this close to a breakdown and we're immune to fire.
>>
We have some pp, explode the snakes.
>>
>>33410475
We have 7.

We need 8.
>>
>>33410475
Explosive flare needs 8 pp and would shoot us up to 110 stress.
>>
>>33410416
>angle
He sure is obtuse
>>
>>33410466
We currently have 6 pp. We need 8 PP + 10 stress (could possibly push ourselves and spend Sanity for it). So one melee and we have it. So we prepare the fire to the degree that we can, melee one centipede for it's PP, then use the absorbed energy to release the fire.
>>
>>33410492
Now I'm saying this is a bullshit idea but could we summon the familiar and corrupt it so it explodes or something?
>>
>>33410450
Just out of idle curiosity, could our teeth have done anything to Meckor?
>>
>>33410513
Can we even Dark Heart the snakes? I remember we touched them before and I don't think it worked.
>>
>>33410133
>Shoot the bastard!
SHOOT HER!
>>
>>33410133
>Shoot the bastard!
I'm so going to regret this
>>
>>33410535
Yes, we can.

>>33410450
I think you might want to do a number vote on this.
>>
Is hipster in range to whip? Maybe we can drag him to us.
Alternatively we're in an alley. Maybe there's a dumpster?
Or we can just suck it up and get mauled by a ton of fuckoff snakes.
>>
>>33410533

You couldn't even tear his shirt with your claws. Your teeth weren't going to do anything.

>>33410513

You can't decide to spend sanity or stress. That happens as the character demands. Right now that'd be stress.

And for all of you who voted
>Shoot the bastard!
Which one are you talking about? I assumed the consensus would be that it would mean Meckor, but I think there's a lot of you that wanted it to mean Philostrathus.

Also, your whip can't grapple, it's made of fire.
>>
>>33410617
And if hipster is close enough to even knock down and dive on, we can drink a bit too.
Maybe.
>>
>>33410597
Number vote? Why? It seems pretty unanimous that everyone wants Issac to shoot Meckor.
>>
>>33410133
Do we have enough shadow around to stop the snakes? Like make wall or something?
>>
>>33410500
I have shamed myself and my ancestors.
>>
I think this might be a quest ending scenario.

>Congratulations! You died, but at least Meckor did too and LA is saved!
>>
>>33410636

We'll probably do a number vote on this. We'll do one in five minutes at the 40 mark, so be there. You have been alerted.
>>
Inb4 end of quest because Sierra is kill. Or we start again as Nevada

>>33410636
Meckor.

You're ENTIRELY CORRECT.
>>
>>33410726
That was me, sorry. I want him to shoot Meckor. I was just referencing Jurassic Park. I apologize for any confusion I've caused.
>>
>>33410273
>the consequences
Are you of the QMing school of thought that the MC should be able to die at any time or are you one to keep them alive to prolong the suffering?

2. Kill Philostrathus.

Here's my argument for crying out for help.

Guys. We got a lot of information tonight. We know what Meckor is capable of and as well his lieutenants. They even given us a name of who they're trying to bring over here. That's big, guys. We'll be able to fight it since we know its name. Tonight has been very profitable despite our beaten body. Also, the only reason why he wanted us dead tonight was to release us from our landline. He can't summon Godzilla without that landline. Us being alive and mentally sane is being a major thorn in his plans.
>>
1
>>
1
>>
Seems like a landslide victory for Meckor, so far
>>
2
>>
>>33410850

So, why the fuck are we doing this number vote? There was a clear consensus for telling Isaac to shoot Meckor.

Meckor is literally running for his life, Isaac is in no way any danger.

The remaining demons gaining some sort of respect for our potential power
>>
>>33411024

I voted for 2. Since it looks like we're going with number 1, well, I'm interested on the aftermath now.

Welp. I look away from the quest for a bit and this is what's happening when I look back.

And man, just how much stronger than us is Issac? We can't even damage Meckor and the second Issac shows up he's totally fucked.
>>
>>33411191
We attacked Meckor so that Ro could escape and get Waldric to safety while she's at it.
If she stuck around out of 'concern' then I have no idea what to even say to that.
It'd be ridiculous, we intentionally drew Meckor and his goons away from her, and she stuck around?
What kind of logic is that?

>>33411267
Magic Crossbow bypasses all Meckor's bullshit defences.
>>
>>33411267
It looks like one bolt did 11 damage. Isaac strong.
>>
>>33411267

It's more about choice of weapons than comparative power levels.
>>
>>33411267
Well, he has a ridiculously badass artifact weapon and all kinds of holy powers built specifically around fucking up creatures of darkness and ignoring their defenses.

I think it's more that he's exactly suited to this very situation.
>>
I'm surprised he doesn't have a sidearm, but he's the one that's been doing this for 80 years or however long it was. He probably know how it do.
>>
>>33411267
We would actually stand a pretty good chance on a fight with Issac, especially in a dark forest or something like that.

But his Crossbow levels the playing field by not giving a fuck about armor and magic defenses.
>>
>>33411323
Basically this. We're great at stealth stuff and basic melee combat. Isaac has a ton of experience and has top-tier weaponry.
>>
So how many of y'all voted for this because you think it will get us kicked out of the Hallow's house and open up glorious husbando Ranthix route?
>>
This is it. But to you, there never really was an option. You’re the good guy. Sometimes, the good guy has to make sacrifices.

“Shoot the bastard!” you scream at Isaac.

Isaac’s eyes flicker once to you, sadly, and then he takes aim and looses a bolt.

Meckor flickers with fire, the water vaporized, and leaps from the ground. A white crossbow bolt strikes him in the back, a second later. His flames quit out, and his arc fails to take him into the sky. Instead, he falls to the ground a second alter in an unmoving, smoldering heap. (Lord General Meckor: 0/20 HP)

“General!” shouts the Belphegoran. “No!”

And then you hear Philostrathus’s laugher as you’re buried in snakes. This is kind of like swimming. (+55 Stress: 155/100) SWIMMING IN SNAKES. YOU HATE SNAKES AND YOU HATE SWIMMING. YOU HATE EVERYTHING. LIFE IS PAIN AND EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BURN. ALL THE BLOOD IS YOURS AND IT WILL FLOW FREELY.

Stress: Exhausted
Sanity: 90/100
Bloodlust: Satiated
HP: 20/26 HP
PP: 7/26 HP

You come to, facing the sky. You’re lying on concrete, and above you is the dark sky, tinged with the vestiges of dawn. How long have you been out? You sit up, and are greeted by the sight of a burning car. You are on a road. Scratch that, you are on an elevated freeway.

A car horn is going off, somewhere, and you can hear sirens nearby. There are several wrecks around you, some on fire, and some otherwise wrecked and also on fire. You can see the silhouette of a burning form in the driver’s seat before you.

The tantalizing taste of burned flesh and boiling blood fills your nostrils.

You look to the source of the sirens, and found they’re closer than you anticipated. Then you see it. There’s a police cruiser several paces behind you, and two scorched, torn bodies nearby.

You look around you. There’s blood on the ground, mingling with gasoline, and bodies. Unidentifiable corpses.

You the sound of an approaching helicopter, as well as a chorus of sirens in the distance.

Uh oh.

What >>33411739 said.

I want to know exactly how Sierra pulled this shit off with nearly-dead levels of HP and just a handful of PP.

Do her stats shoot through the roof when she flips out? Does she only get a minor boost, but that little bump + hungry for death = tons of healing from blood drinking random people and just as much PP from Dark Heart? Does she suddenly git so gud that the levels of sheer gud overcome any obstacles in the way?
>>
>>33411660
Woohoo, best Halloween ever!

But seriously, we need to get out of here. Stick to the ground, we're probably covered in blood so find someone whose clothes we can steal to blend in. Drain PP from people if we can. Lying low for a couple days would be a good idea, the Cobras would probably let us crash with them.

And then make our way to the Hallows, no matter what we do we're going to want our dog.

...yes, and? It's still worth it. We stopped thousands, tens of thousands, maybe more innocent people from getting killed by Meckor's army.

All it cost us was our life - figuratively or literally, we have yet to see - and the lives of those people who crossed our path in this episode.

In a world with no good ends, this seems like the best end.

>>33412237
Nope, fuck jail.

There are two big things to consider, first, Sierra could not fucking stand imprisonment, she'd go fucking bonkers, second, no normal prison could possibly hold her. If they stuck her in jail it would just be a matter of time before she carved her way through the populace and melted a way out.

The other non-lethal alternative is with a magic prison, probably meant for 1 person. Which she might very well hate more, and isolation like that will drop our Sanity to zip within weeks if not days.

It won't work. Their feasible options are kill us or let us go.
>>
>>33412330

Ranthix threw you out of a window. A minute later, there's a huge explosion that takes out half the building. Next time you see Meckor, he has no trident. Next time you see Ranthix, he's charred over all of his body.

>>33412281

Not with what you could do. And definitely not without more support.
>>
>>33412398
Ok. I guess it exploded, then.
>>
>>33412291
Wolfgang knows we're going Meckor. The night he dies, a demon rampages through town. Not suspicious at all.
>>
>>33412398
Did this go better or worse than you expected?
>>
>>33412398
So Ranthix broke it.
>>
>>33412398
What was he even? Enchanted armour with massive damage reduction? Some kind of hellion ability?
>>
>>33412435

Certainly what I expected to happen, didn't happen.

>>33412449

He was a 400+ year old demon general from hell.
>>
>>33412435
I don't think he was expecting us to pick to kill Meckor.
>>
>>33412449
Armor fit for a demon general combined with age and experience, most likely.
>>
>>33412497
Would Blood Curse have weakened him enough that we could have gotten at least some damage through?

Did he have any buffs on?
>>
>>33412507
I don't think he expected us to end up in that specific situation at all
>>
One thing I do see Sierra possibly doing is isolating herself from others after this. Her one night of not feeling like a monster has ended with her probably feeling more like a monster than ever.

I wouldn't be surprised if she expects the Hallows to put her down if they see her. And I don't think she would blame them either, with the number of innocent people who end up dead just because she tries to help.

It would be interesting if Ranthix is now trying to find us and get us to safety, while the Hallows are looking for us to try to figure out what to do with us, and some other factions are suddenly out to kill us or to get a hold of us for some political reason.

Imagine them all tipping over each other to get to us.
>>
>>33412435
Honestly? This stuff is the very essence of tragedy. Sierra is so desperate to be a good person that almost fucking hurts. But no matter how hard she tries, she cannot escape the simple fact that she is a walking engine of destruction.
>>
>>33412594
>implying the Hallows won't welcome us back with open arms
We killed innocents in these rages before and they never gave a shit even after we straight up told them.
>>
>>33412594
We can't avoid the Hallows entirely, we need to get our dog back.
>>
>>33412594
>>It would be interesting if Ranthix is now trying to find us and get us to safety
I'm 100% certain that Ranthix is dead. Meckor left his first fight with Ranthix at full health and Ranthix heavily injured, and left his second fight at full health again.

If Ranthix is still alive, I'll be utterly fucking shocked.
>>
>>33412538

If you were more magically able, you may have been able to drain his PP. If you had Blood Curse, you would have been able to do some damage, though he would still be armored. Stain of Sin would have also given you some opportunity to do damage to him.

There would be some situational ways to do him in during the boss fight, but you don't have to worry about that.

>>33412547

You kept upping the ante through good rolls and the decisions you made.
>>
>>33412665
Yeah, but he also lost his trident. So I'm hopeful the big guy is still alive.
>>
>>33412547
This. The dice rolls most likely necessitated us being knocked unconscious, and thus being captured.

>>33412665
He's probably just unconscious, Meckor was too focused on killing us because his waifu never loved him.
>>33412672
Upgrades to consider, then.
>>
>>33412672
Did we level up, gain any new abilities, or pick up wings while we were in our psychorage?
>>
Every time Sierra does one of her rampage things the MGR OST comes on in my head and Sierra just goes full Jack the Ripper.
>>
>>33412649
>>33412651
I don't doubt that they would be willing to give us a chance. After all, the damage we did to kill Meckor is nothing compared to what he would have done. But judging from Sierras past experiences with foster families it would not surprise me if she convinces herself that she fucked up again, this time big enough to alienate the only understanding family she had been with.
>>
>>33412758
Pretty sure she doesn't target prostitutes so much as anyone who has blood in them.
>>
>>33412783
Go check out Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Back to the Revenge 2. The main character's codename is Raiden, first name is Jack, was known to be psychopathic soldier at one time.
>>
>>33412780
I certainly don't want to just ditch out on the Hallows, I like them too much.
>>
Ranthix is, in his own way, the most loyal knight a princess could ask for.
>>
>>33412783
No, that's what Raiden calls himself when he goes full edge

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uc_js2iB3-s
>>
>>33412672
It seems to me that every time we rage, we gain a new meter, signifying that Sierra is shifting away from her humanity. How many more times can we rage before she stops being human at all?
>>
>>33412758
Sierra would probably be happy to be Raiden. Raiden can control his Ripper Mode.
>>
>>33412891
But this Ripper mode was caused by getting heap loads of damage and stress on us by the snakes.

Kind of like how Jack's ripper mode activated from him taking tons of mental stress and getting stabbed.
>>
>>33412855
I wonder if that's the consequences Languid was talking about. Not character deaths, but an irreversible loss of humanity?
>>
>>33412780
Boy there's going to be a lotta angst in the next few threads.
>>
>>33412594
I imagine Sierra calling the Hallows just to ask if they even want to see her again
>>
>>33412989
And them saying of course, because they are cool like that
>>
>>33412934
>I wonder if that's the consequences Languid was talking about
Wouldn't surprise me in the least.
I wonder if Sierra's mother was also prone to fits of uncontrollable, psychotic rage, or if it's just Sierra...
>>
>>33413014
Maybe its a side effect of the redecorating Dad did in our head.
>>
>>33412947
Well, teenage MC.
>>33413003
I think Issac is going to have LONG a talk with us, and his colleagues, about whether we should be a deputy if it's going to put us in situations like this where we run the risk of losing control.
>>33413014
Remember what Isaac told us about Infernus/Verwelkin hybrids being prone to explosions?
>>
>>33413003
I just hope they don't give Sierra the Old Yeller treatment
I don't think they'll do it unless we killed Rowan or Isaac
>>
>>33413074
>The meters aren't Sierra breaking, their appearance is the damage getting fixed
>What? You expected a normal demon to be mentally the same as a normal human?
I can see it.
>>
>>33413105
I'd actually fucking love if that was the case.
>>
>>33413080
>>33413085
Why would Isaac do that exactly? Yes, shit got crazy, but given we sacrificed ourselves to end Meckor I'm thinking Isaac will give us a bit of leeway
>>
>>33413243
'Leeway' is letting us live. 'Leeway' is not sending us to prison. 'Leeway' is not letting us remain a deputy after this.
>>
>>33413085
>Rowan has to put us down
>We don't resist
>All she can think about is the girl who had nightmares and was scared of scissors
>Who protected other kids from bullies
>Who made magic shadow puppets and liked to draw
>Who wanted to accepted for what she was
>Our last words before she pulls the trigger are "You were right when we first met."

I vote on killing Sierra. End the quest when it happens, and we can finally say that someone has finished their quest in /tg/ without the QM eventually quitting.

Guys. The lawn is going to beat us. Let's finish it before the lawn finishes our QM.

I'd fund it.

Isn't that basically what Isaac said happened with that other hellborn he let go one time? The one he warned us about? The one who got too tired, couldn't hold himself back anymore, and was ready to finally end it when Isaac came for him again?

...this is fucking sad as hell.
>>
>>33413384
There are quests that reach an end, though they are rare.
The only one I can think of atm is the original Valkyrian Mercs and the first Five Nations
>>
>>33413384
Much as some might want this (and I think it's one thing that could be done), I think our fortune from the tea leaves suggests the possibility of otherwise.

Languid probably would have something to say about this as well.

I sure as fuck don't. Look at what Meckor did in reaction to us. Going to Hell would be absolute fucking suicide on our part.
>>
I'm imagining what our next conversation with Rowan is going to be like.

"Superman was right, you know. When he made that speech about everything around him being made of paper? About having to be careful all the time. I'm not Superman. I don't have that control. Maybe I should stop trying to be a hero."
>>
>>33413956
Or going to hell would be like the ending of Lion King
>>
>>33413874
/tg/ ain't cutthroat enough
>>
>>33413975
I seriously doubt it.
>>
>>33413966
We definitely need to use a superman analogy to go with her batman fetish.
>>
>>33413989
I am actually working that into the quest I am working on.

Mostly because I am frustrated by the stupid good players that surround me.
>>
>>33414025
Rowan won't quit as long as she can still draw a breath. None of the Hallows will. Me? I've got a different problem. I feel like I live in a world made of cardboard. Always taking constant care not to break something. To break someone. Never allowing myself to lose control, even for a moment, or someone could die.
>>
>>33413966
That's awesome
>>
