Recap.

You're in your apartment, alone for the weekend, wearing nothing but a pair of underwear and the demonic hellforged gauntlet that you accidentally summoned with a satanic spellbook after a disgusting 3D whore from somewhere deep within the seven Hells kissed you deep, with tongue, awakening within you the power to speak an unholy, long-forgotten language. You got accosted at a party by fraternity brothers who are presumably guarding similar ancient forbidden knowledge, and barely escaped with the help of your friend Jay, who dragged you into the whole thing hoping to get you macking on real women instead of your daki.

Fuck Jay. Girls' love is pure.

So, it's the morning after shit went down, and you're sitting on the couch rubbing one out to the critically acclaimed hentai anime, “Super Galaxy Love Whore 120%”. You haven't been able to get the Calamity Gauntlet off, but you don't really care, because it feels like it's someone elses hand and that's kind of nice. So, right as Toujou is going full-on doki-doki kimochi on her nii-sama's ochinchin while getting railed by a tentacle that's ribbed for her pleasure, some bitch blows open the lock to your door with fire sorcery and busts in while you're all dangling out there at about half-staff.

You take a moment to size her up. Fair skin. Long, deep red hair, a pair of baggy jeans, and a jacket worn over a form-fitting black sleeveless shirt. A little bit shorter than you. Not too bad, for 3D. Your mack sense isn't all that good, but you can tell one thing: she doesn't look happy.

“Seriously?” She growls, shaking her head at the unpleasant scene before her. “They sent me here for -this-? You best believe I'm gonna have some choice words for the higher-ups when I'm done with you.”

“Who are you?” You're not sure whether to stand your ground, or run. Or whether to protect the Calamity Gauntlet, or use it to cover your manhood. “W-what are you doing in my apartment?”

“That artifact's continued existence in this plane will have unpleasant repercussions in the future.” She grins, then gives a sudden, spunky kiai. On cue, a swirling wall of flames erupts from her body, hiding her form briefly; you're buffeted with force, and stumble back a bit, almost tripping back onto the couch. When the smoke clears, her outfit has been replaced by a black miniskirt and tube top, and a white, tall-collared cloak with intricate golden designs running its length; the clothes fit loosely, and flutter dramatically despite the complete lack of air flow in your apartment. A katana dangles loosely at her waist, and she steadies it with one hand, sparks bursting from the blade's base as she draws it about a quarter of the way from the sheath. “I'm here to put it back where it came from. Hand it over.”

“I can't, uh.” You look at the television—Toujou is currently being spit-roasted by a pair of tentacles, with a third wrapped tightly around her bare midriff for support—then to your underwear, to the gauntlet, and back at the woman. “I can't, uh, ehehe, get it off.”

“I... you... ugh, fuck.” She looks over her shoulder at the scene, and appears briefly overwhelmed and visibly disgusted. A frown, as she closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, before assuming a battle stance, red-hair whipping about like wildfire at her back. “I'm just gonna take your whole goddamn arm, then.”
>Curl up in a ball and cry.
>Stall. “Who and what even are you? I don't know what's going on!”
>Escape. Punch out the screen door to the balcony, and hope you make the ten foot fall to the pavement.
>Fight. Activate the Calamity Gauntlet, and borrow more power from the Demon King.

You've already established that you're not a fighter. You're definitely not hero material. A little out of shape, and you kind of close your eyes and tense up whenever something comes remotely close to hitting you. But god damnit if you're not going to defend your apartment with all you've got. When you invoke the Calamity Gauntlet's power, you feel as if it drains away your weaknesses; you become strong, commanding, everything you're not. But at what cost?

“This is your last chance to come quietly.” She levels her sword at you—you'd feel more confident, honestly, were she wielding an inferior Western blade—and grins.

“Power of the Demon King, I open the first gate to Dark!” Your voice echoes, and everything not nailed down in the room is sent further into a flurry.

“Impossible! There's no way you could know how to use it already!” Time slows to a crawl as she lunges forward, swinging her blade wide.

She's too slow. “Calamity Gauntlet, grant me thine fury, so that I might smite my enemies!”'

There's a bright flash, when her blade meets your armored palm inches away from your face. Light bursts out from the point of impact, and you hear the sound of glass shattering. She looks surprised, but steels herself, as flame erupts from the base of her blade, exposing your pasty flesh to immense heat. You react quickly with a clumsy sidestep, then reel back and slam your clawed fist into her forehead with all the strength you can muster.

She's sent flying comically backwards through your broken window, and you hear her cry out as she tumbles out of sight. Meanwhile, Toujou is just moaning away. You're not even sure what scene you're on anymore.
>Fuck, that was awesome. Jump out the window and punch her again.
>Based on what you've seen so far, she's probably not even hurt. Survey the damage.
>Finish up with Super Galaxy Love Whore 120%. How dare she interrupt you?

“See you next fall!” You call to the window.

Best you could do on short notice. Might want to be thinking of a better one for next time you smack someone's shit for getting all up in your biz.

Welp, glad that's over. Time to get back to something important.

God damnit, the credits are about to roll—this is all so unfortunate! You scuttle over to your laptop, still nursing your excitement from earlier. You're not ashamed in the slightest, as this anime hits you in all the right places. Maybe that's why no one else likes it; it was made for your enjoyment alone. You click a little bit too far back, then accidentally back to the opening credits. God damnit, this is such a boner-killer.

Alright, show's back on. You skip ahead to where Toujou and her best friend from her class are bouncing up and down on top of—

“I underestimated you, naked bastard!” You glance over your shoulder. This girl is relentless! She's on your balcony now. A wheel of fire is swirling around her feet, and her hands are pointed toward you, forming a triangle with her fingers. “And I won't make that mistake twice!”

“Ahaha, what?”

“By fire burning deep within, rising in my heart, I hereby pledge to end this fight before it even starts! Let this foul servant of the Demon King be bathed in our righteous flames!” Now, you notice it—the crystal, cupped in gold, dangling loosely around her neck. It dims slightly, as she draws power to form a growing ball of flames between her hands.

The Calamity Gauntlet pulses softly. You feel like you could be powering up!
>Talk her down. Seriously, let's just be reasonable here. No need to get all worked up.
>Get out of the way! Last thing you want is for her to burn you and your apartment to the ground.
>She'll probably just go away if you ignore it.

(( That was actually my mistake, sorry. I was going to do a tiebreaker roll, got sidetracked, and read the three greentext votes as the same option when I came back as you can see in my post. Wasn't intentional, but I'm still not doing too well with it. Hopefully, it won't happen again! ))

God damnit, you can't have her just shooting fire all over the place. The window is already one maintenance request that you're probably going to end up paying for when it comes down to it. Who are you going to call if she burns the apartment complex down, and what are you going to tell them?

You leap over the couch in a burst of hot-blooded, naked fury.

“Phoenix...” She begins to yell, but you dive low and sweep up from beneath her outstretched arms, throwing her aim toward the open screen door.

“Oh, hell, no you don't!”

“...Fire!” You sidestep again, as a white-hot flame in the approximate shape of a bird erupts from her palms. Heat singes your back as it crosses just over your head, and it clears the screen door, scorching the walls on either side before curving skyward and disappearing from sight. Now in melee range, you throw another savage punch for her forehead—and are surprised when she tilts to the side to avoid it. “Not this time!”

You catch a glimpse of her hand on the sheathed katana at her hip. “An iaijutsu attack!?” Lightning quick, she pulls the blade free and swings it diagonally. There's a searing pain as it gashes your naked abdomen, cauterizing the wound behind it as it continues diagonally across your chest and onto your neck before you stumble backward and tumble over the couch onto the floor.

You don't know where you find the strength to pick yourself up—maybe you're afraid of the inevitable coup de grace—but you manage to do it pretty quickly. You watch, body trembling, as the Demon King's power suffuses your form. Bands of flesh cross the gap in your abdomen, slowly stitching you back together. She scoffs, returning the katana to its sheath. “Damnit, looks like I can't stop until there's nothing left to burn. Looks like you're keen on protecting your belongings, though. Could that be your weakness?”

“Perhaps, but I've already identified yours. I just needed more time to study my opponent.” You say, then give a pained, heaving breath as you pull yourself upright, pointing a quivering finger toward the red crystal that dangles loosely across her chest. “Is that gem on your neck... the source of your power?”

“W-what?!”

The Calamity Gauntlet's power radiates strongly. When it is sufficiently bathed in the heat of battle, strike down your foes with the Calamity Flare.
>Calamity Flare. Cause, y'know. You want to yell Calamity Flare.
>Get back in the fight. Be more cautious, this time, and unleash the Calamity Flare when the time is right.

Red light collects in the palm of your right hand, the Calamity Gauntlet. It swirls between your fingertips, growing into a wreath of black and orange flames. You can't help but laugh. What have you gotten yourself into?

“What?” She draws her blade, assuming a fighting stance; you think she's just trying to put something in between the two of you. “You shouldn't even be able to use magic, let alone—!”

“With the hand of the Demon King, I will strike you down!” You're borne forward at an immense speed by an unknown force, and twist clear of her katana's reach as you draw within proximity. With a fast half-turn, you slam the attack into her bare midriff; there's a dull, flatulent pulse of force, then an eldritch explosion of darkness that wracks the room. “This ends now! CALAMITY FLARE!”

Air rushes in to fill the vacuum as your opponent falls limp, and smashes into the wall hard enough to leave a man-sized system of reticulated cracks in the paint. She lands on the ground in a crumpled heap, and is showered in paint chips and motes of dust, the garnet crystal wrapped 'round her neck glowing dimly. 3D be damned. The intoxicating flavor of Sonia's lips hangs in your mind, accompanied by a web of blood-red strands and a system of strange symbols.

“F-fuck... this power...” She speaks weakly, and her clothes revert to normal in a flash of light. “W-who are you?”
>Explain. “Why didn't you just ask me that instead of attacking?”

(( Just gonna do a bit of both. ))

“I should be asking you that.” You flex your clawed fingers, finding your body exhausted as you revert from Dark. Still, you find a confidence now that you doubt you could have mustered before. “Just who and what are you?”

“Maya.” She pulls herself into a wall-sit, then to her feet, using her sheathed blade to support herself. “Maya Kawashima.”

“You don't look Japanese.” You tilt your head.

“Yeah, that's what everyone says. Dad's side, familial shenanigans, none of your business.” She pouts.

“The hell was that magic show?” You fold your arms.

“I'm a sorceress. Get over yourself.” She looks over at the television, still mildly disgusted. “Can you turn that off?”

“Nah. Sorceress, huh? Like a magical girl?” She had a transformation sequence, and everything.

“If you really want to call it that...”

“And that red thing is your Soul Gem.”

“It's called a phylactery over here.” She shakes her head. Confidence appears to be returning. You definitely took a lot out of her, but she looks to be recovering. Maybe you just got lucky? “I'm done shooting the shit. Who are you, and how did you get that artifact?”

“Why didn't you just ask me that, instead of attacking?” You respond.

“I thought I'd be dealing with a demon, instead of a naked asshole. Something more cut-and-dry. That's what we do.”
>Give it up. She wants to know, so maybe she can help you out.

Feels like explaining our side more will end the conversation without getting info we desperately need.
>>
“You fight demons, huh?” You sit down on the couch. The conversation stalls, and she joins you after a few seconds of silence, keeping her distance by sitting on the couch's arm, watching you from the corner of her eye. Feels like the fight isn't quite over yet, or she doesn't trust you not to throw another Calamity Flare her way. After that first punch, she's not going to underestimate you again.

“We're conscripted to take on all sorts of magical threats, as well as make sure nothing like what you've got on your arm ends up in the mundane world.” She responds. “You can draw a parallel between us and demons in that we're both sort of unionized. We gain our powers by snuffing out these threats, and are effectively immortal as long as we can keep it up.”

“And... the other guys?” Demons is starting to sound silly.

“They're like, forces of temptation. They get all juiced up from deceiving people, and cash that in for evil powers.” Maya rolls her eyes, and sighs. “In short words.”

“Mm, so they tempt people to sin?”

“They used to, a long time ago. They've started defining sin more loosely in recent years, though. Now they just sort of make people do stuff. It can be whatever, and you probably won't even know what it is until you finish, and they whip out the wings and horns and are like, psyke, you've just been punked.” Another awkward pause, filled by a wet squishing noise and a sultry 's-senpai~' from the television. “Why... why is she so... moist?”

“It's a work of art, isn't it?”

“Stop trying to distract me, you naked fuck.” She begins to rise, then grunts in pain and sits back down. “How did you get that Gauntlet?”

“I think I got played by a demon.” You sigh, embarassed about the whole incident. “This girl named Sonia did something to me, and I started having headaches and saying weird stuff. I got tricked into reading from some book in an ancient language I suddenly knew, and it just sort of popped up.”
>>
>>33304317

“That's odd, unless... Was there any scenario in which she could have touched your tongue?” She asks. Your head sinks, after about a couple of seconds. “Oh, gross! How desperate are you?”

“I'm not! I was trying to get out of there the whole night!”

“So, you're just some guy who was in the wrong place at the wrong time?” Maya doesn't seem terribly happy about her defeat at your hands.

“Yeah. Am I going to be alright?”

“Well, you're fucking cursed. If you couldn't tell. So, maybe.” She looks pensive for a moment. “Do you still have the book? I bet there's a way to unsummon it, or at least get it off of your arm.

“Nope, it's at a fraternity house. So I'm SOL.”

“Hey, I wasn't done. It could also have something to do with this Sonia girl. If she's cursed you, she can probably release you from it. You shouldn't even be able to use magic anyway, so it'll probably just fall off. If she's a demon, she'll probably be difficult to find. She could even have retreated back to the—“

“She works at the library. Jay and I are going to go see her later.”

“Oh, well.” Maya responds. “Well, she might be just spreading mischief, but it's more likely that she's cursed you for a reason. What if she doesn't release you?”

You flex the Calamity Gauntlet. “I guess I've got this. And Jay will be backing me up, too.”

The Calamity Gauntlet allows you to invoke the power of the Demon King. Upon traversing each of the seven Gates to Dark, you will unleash new and greater strengths.
>”So, sorceresses and demons? What does that make me?”
>”You fight demons, right? You should probably come with us.”

“Sorceresses and demons, huh? What does that make me?” You ask.

“There's a little of both in you. You appear able to use some magic, thanks to the demon's curse and that artifact.” Maya responds. “I've got an unfortunate feeling that before we see it gone, you're going to cause a lot of hell for both parties.”

Suitable. You continue. “It doesn't look like you have much power left. Are you gonna be alright?”

“I, uhm.” She clears her throat, then frowns. “I haven't won a fight in a while. My Phoenix Fire spell is one of the most powerful in my arsenal, and it took most of the rest of my power to prevent your Calamity Flare from destroying my body. My familiar...”

“Tsukaima?”

“Sure, whatever. She's already bailed me out once, so I'll just have to clear my head and take down a demon with the last of my strength. No sweat.” She responds, nodding.

“Fair. It'll be good to have a little bit of backup for once.”

“Plus, you seem to be a little bit worried about the demon killing thing.”

“N-no way!” She folds her arms, pouting. “I'm just in a slump. Don't look so damn smug.”

“Alright. How should we prepare for the trial ahead?” You ask.

“First of all, get dressed.” She rises from the couch and wanders toward your bedroom before she can warn you. “You'll need to—oh God, is that a body pillow?”

“Just give me a minute.” You decide to just wear your clothes from yesterday and change in the closet, shoving her out of your room to hide your shame. Damn, just when you were starting to get content in your nakedness. After a moment, you present yourself. “There. That better?”

“Oh, hell no. Is that a grey polo shirt?” She asks. “What brand even are you wearing?”

“If we survive today, we're going shopping. You're not going to wield the power of the Demon King unless you look the part.”

“How is that important at all?”

“I'll tell you later. Won't matter if we get ourselves killed before then, will it?” She says, now bracing herself against a door frame.

“I guess you're right.” You sigh, taking a seat on the couch. “Jay will probably be over here soon.”

“Alright. So, now what?” She asks. There's another awkward pause, and you put Super Galaxy Love Whore 120% back on. She starts to say something, giving a half-disgusted look, then limps around front of the couch to join you. “Oh, fucking... fine.”
