YOU ARE LOLI,

Having accepted another supply run - this one further afield - from Beard, Kris, Dave, Viktor and Ice departed the safety of the boat a few moments ago. From the barge's deck, Vasa leans on the rail watching them leave. When Kris looks back, she smiles and waves.
With Kris forging ahead confidently, Viktor and Ice walk together a few yards back. They talk quietly, though judging from what you could overhear of them before, they're probably both still lamenting their terrible luck recently. You're not sure what exactly they've been unlucky in, and no-one seems to want to tell you.
Dave lingers near the back of the group, fiddling with something he found on the floor and paying no apparent attention to anything else around him. You hope they'll be back safe soon.

The moment they climb over the ridge to the road out of sight, Vasa turns to you. "Right then. Let's get you warmed up first. Five laps around the boat. Go."

Your face creases into confusion, "but I've never had to warm up before," you complain. "Why do I have to-"

She cuts you off with a glare. "I wasn't asking. Go."

[ ]Complain harder. You don't need to warm up!

You pout, "I came to the Zone to have fun, not run laps." Vasa's glare turns icy, but before she can respond, you hop off the wreck and start jogging around it.
Five laps later, you hate to admit it but you're actually feeling your heart start to pump now. You're not used to running this far. Usually you just need to sprint for a few paces until you can stab something.
As you finish your fifth lap, coming back to the split in the hull where Vasa waits for you, you find her stretching out.

"Good. Almost like you've been running from something for a bit. Now, time for a game. I'm going to be the chimera trying to eat you. You're going to be the little girl. You need to touch my chest with your right hand. I need to touch you anywhere with any part of my body. Got it?"

You try to protest through your heavy breathing. "Wait, that doesn't sound f-" She lunges at you.

You duck to the side, slipping easily under Vasa's outstretched arms. She's left herself open now! You quickly reach in to try to poke her in the chest, but she sweeps her arm downwards to a deflecting motion. Wait, that would count as her touching you somewhere! You pull back as her arm sweeps past where you were going to be. She grins at you, pleased.
Then lunges again. Stepping back out of her reach, you circle and try to keep her at distance. "This is so unfair!" you complain at her. "How am I supposed to win this?"

Vasa shrugs, "how do you win against a chimera?"

You stop, staring at her. "Well, I didn't let it hit me until I stabbed it in the chest." While you're stating the obvious, she takes two rapid steps forewards and sweeps a leg at you. You hop over it, and while you're in the air, she reaches out to touch you. Shifting you weight midair, you barely avoid letting her scrape you and fall on your ass. The mud of the bog quickly soaks up through your pants.

"Exactly," she states in a calm voice. "So now you need to do that, except without getting torn up. If I touch you at all, the chimera just broke your bones or tore you to bits."

You grimace, shutting out the cold discomfort and right yourself, ready for her next advance.

The way her legs are moving, she seems to be favoring her right side. You cut in, as if going for a jab, then skip back out of her range when she tries to counter, noting her motions. More specifically, she's trying to keep her entire left side as steady as she can while she attacks you. Using this, you hop in once more and roll under her attempted grapple towards her left side. She swivels around in the opposite direction, her hand coming low and almost catching you as you pass her. But now she's vulnerable. You double back before she can recover, slipping behind her.

Yes! You're behind her! She shifts her left leg slower than she needs to move, trying to keep balance. You slip your hand up beneath her armpit. She can't stop you now!

Her loss imminent, Vasa twists her entire body to the right, pulling her chest away from you and letting your hand glance over her side instead. As she does so, though, her face contorts in pain and her leg gives out on her and with a grunt, she falls to one knee, right hand gripping her side as her left hand stays at the ready.

Stepping around to her right side, you gently tap her chest before either of her arms can cross to meet you. "I win! Are you okay? Did I hurt you? I'm sorry. Should I get the Doc? Are you okay?" Vasa grunt something that almost sounds like laughter, then grabs your shoulder, using you to heave herself back to her feet.

"Good," she states. "Always kill the threat before checking on your friends. That's good. And no," she grimaces.
Straightening up, she addresses the guard above. "Hey, call the Doc out here."

The guard shrugs, then pops the door behind him open and shouts something into the barge. Then closes the door again and goes back to staring into the distance at nothing in particular.
"Okay. Round two."

"What?"

She kicks at your ankles.

You stumble back away from her foot, barely avoiding tripping over as you do.
Vasa comes on at you, forcing you further and further back. This time, she's onto your plan of trying to turn her, and spreads her arms wide whenever you try to circle her. Instead, she forces you back again and again, finally managing to push you to the hull of Skadovsk. With nowhere else to go, you prepare to try and stab your way out of your confinement. Except as you coil yourself ready to spring, Vasa collapses onto you.

Her weight brings you both crashing to the mud, but you manage to break her fall in the descent. "I win," she breaths.

Lying together, you realize just how much pain she's in, how pale her face is. A panic grips your heart. "Vasa? Vasa-neechan, are you okay? DOC!"

The resident medic is already storming out of the boat, turning the corner towards you.
"Oh for Christ's sake! What the hell are you two doing?" He carefully extricates you from Vasa and sits her upright against the hull. A little fumbling later, "yup. Ruptured the tissue. Good job, idiot," he scolds Vasa, despite

"Doc? Will she be okay, Doc? Please tell me she's okay!"

He shushes you with a raised hand. "She's fine. But tearing up healing flesh is stupid, dumb and utterly moronic." He looks her in the eye. "You're gonna be in a lot of pain now, and you deserve it. You want somethin' for the pain? I'll charge ya double for being an idiot. Or I can get some booze from Beard."

Vasa pushes him away. "I don't need anything."

He nods acknowledgement. "Booze it is. Be right back." He retreats towards the bar, leaving the two of you alone again for a few moments.

"Sorry," she mutters at you. "Didn't mean to stop your lessons like that."

Godamnit Kaleun. I'm still sitting here, trying to cope with what we ended up doing to Vasa and Kris. It's not working.

I feel like the degraded scum of society for joining the /u/-boat and egging for lesbians, the cold fact that we made a girl lose her virginity in a one-night stand for a chance to have her affections returned by her same-sex crush is going to haunt me for a long time.

I think I can get hooked on this brand of suffering.
>>
>>33268965
You shake your head. "I don't mind waiting for Vasa-neechan! But you need to stop hurting yourself! What would Kris say if she was here now?"
Vasa stares at the floor, troubled. Her face clears when you try to help lift her back to her feet. "Let's go inside, where it's safe and warm." She wiggles away from your grip, though.

"No, really I'm fine. Just let me sit for a bit. I know, how about a sneaking game? I count to ten while you go and hide out there," she nods towards the bog, "then you try and sneak up on me."

If yshe doesn't want to be helped by anyone, fine, for once we won't push her. But she's still our bestest friend, so if she's in pain we'll stay right here with so she can pretend she isn't.

Topics to choose from aplenty after all. Like, if Kris told her what she's looking for in the zone, what she thinks is up with dave and his weirdness, or just tell her about home because nobody ever seems to ask Loli about that.

Does it help your conscience to know that you (probably) never actually did such a thing? The jump from "tell her how you feel" to Kris practically daring Vasa into it by the "she's lesbian so she must be afraid of penises!" logic is pretty far.
>>

"If you don't want to go inside that's fine," you tell her, "but you're one of my only friends. If you're staying here then I'm staying here, too."

She gives you a funny look, "Loli..." She doesn't finish whatever she was going to say, instead gazing up at the sky, the sides of her mouth curving upward a little. The two of you sit in silence for a few moments, before you bring up something you've been thinking about.

"What do you think about Dave? He's really weird."

Vasa grumbles back, "you tell me. You brought him along. He seems okay though, for now."

The addition makes you curious. "For now?"

She shrugs, "he's planning, you can tell. Planning lots. Way more than we'll ever know about, I'll bet. How're you supposed to trust someone like that?" She catches herself, considering what she's just said. Then starts spewing a torrent of words "I mean, well, you can trust someone like that, because you have to trust to love, and so you definitely can trust someone even if they're planning things you don't get, and that's okay because you trust that they're doing it for you, right? Or at least it's something that really needs to be done, but they can't tell you why until they've done it but it's fine because they really wanted to tell you, they just couldn't because there was something else stopping them. Right?" She glances over to you, seeing if you're still following her.

You blink.

"What?" A rosey tint takes to her cheeks.

You blink again. "I've nver heard you use so money words before." She colors further.

"Anyway. I- I don't trust him."
