For someone who’s supposed to be on her best behavior; Yura’s still being an incredibly large nuisance. You’re honestly not sure why you spared her life the first time and again when you defended her despite all she’s done, but now she’s your responsibility.

You take a deep breath and stop in your tracks as the two continue to fight. Inuyasha eventually reaches behind him and gets a good grip on Yuras waist, easily prying her free before flipping her over his head and throwing her to the ground in front of him.

“AN’ KEEP YER CLAWS OUTTA MY HAIR YA HARPY!”
“How rude! You… YOU BRUTE! IS THAT ANY WAY TO TREAT A LADY?!”
“SHOW ME! SHOW ME THE LADY! Where is she? I don’t see her!”

Your brow furrows at the continued childish aggression on display. Reaching up, you quickly grab the tip of one of Inuyashas animal-like ears and tug down on it, eliciting a yelp as he struggles to keep his head as close to your hand as possible.

“OH A PARTY! I ADOOOOORE A GOOD BALL!” Yura beams, now upright and clasping her hands like the time you’re sure you would have had someone invited you to the prom. You nonchalantly release your grip on Inuyashas ear and he quickly begins rubbing his head.

“I mean it! You two are already on thin ice.”

“Well if Inuyasha would stop resisting so much and let me slice him up a little, we wouldn’t have such a problem.” Yura coos, stroking Inuyashas chest. “Although I could say the same about you.” She adds in a harsher tone.

“Drop it.”

Her eyes narrow and her demeanor shifts into something far less flirtatious and more “formal” if not dangerous.

Kaede and the Monk are still in the middle of the road up a ways (about 40 yards); however it seems as though they just finished chanting or something. It’s a bit too far away to tell.

Inuyasha seems pretty set with his equipment as-is. Perhaps we should purchase the sword we got so that he can have a sidearm in case he needs to focus his attacks into one point or if he really needs a sharp piece of metal around.

Yura might need some armor and another stabby implement. Something fairly light but protective so she can still slink around without making too much noise.

Inuyashas eyes go wide as soon as he figures out what’s going on, as do Yuras.

“Oh real nice! Like I even get a say in this after doen’ yer chores for ya!” your partner in red protests.

You barely register it in time, but Yura attempts to take off for the woods, however Inuyasha leaps after her and grabs her by the ankle, causing her to crash into the dirty well trodden forest path.

Mushin begins chanting as the necklace glows.

Yura looks back to Inuyasha bearing her teeth, small beads of tears forming at the corners of her yes as she swiftly unsheathes her katana and hacks at her ankle to try and escape, however Inuyashas speed is far greater. He pulls on her foot, yanking her towards him and captures her in a firm bear hug, locking her arms to her sides before the blade makes contact.

“AW NO YA DON’T! IF I HAFTA GET PUT ONNA LEASH I AN’T THE ONLY ONE!”

Kaede follows suit and begins chanting as well.

“WAIT!” You yell, holding your hands up in protest. The two demons behind you are too busy yelling at one another to hear much of anything else.

“Sure he has his problems… mostly in the thinking and reasoning department, but he’s a good guy Lady Kaede! He’s done nothing but help me since I saw him at Kikyos tomb!” you pleade “I’ve never seen someone so sad in my life!”

Kaede scowls and stops her chanting with a sigh, “Aye, I suppose ye two would take a shine to one another like ye did before…”

“And Yura…”

Too late. Mushin’s prayer beads explode into a series of small glowing purple orbs that make a b-line for Yuras throat; she screams as they near before finally resting on her neck.

Inuyasha begrudgingly releases her and she falls to the ground on all fours. She pauses for a moment as if to assess the situation before leaning back and sitting on her legs. She throws her head back and a maddening laugh erupts from her gullet.

“How dense can you POSSIBLY BE monk!?”
“Your mind must be going…” she adds, as she holds her own blade up to her throat and grabs the prayer beads to draw them taught. With a smile she begins slitting her own throat with the prayer beads hooked around the blunt end of the blade, drawing them through her neck until it’s through the other side and off of her. The now bloody ring of prayer beads in her hand.

“What? No applause? That’s quite rude, it was a very nice trick.”

“Yer gunna say I missed kuz yer a totem demon er somethen’?” Mushin retorts, taking a swig from his gourd. “Because I don’t miss missy.”

The beads in Yuras hand begin glowing again before shooting into her hand and burrowing through her arm and out of her back; spiraling along some unseen path until it reaches the inside of Inuyashas jacket.

A series of black beads with what look to be white fangs between them appear on Yutas neck in a flash of light. A small red skull charm makes up the front most bead. She tries to tug it free, however she can’t seem to get it through her neck or over her head. Inuyasha removes the skull from his cloak. There appears to be a similar pattern scorched around the top of it.

“QUICKLY! A WORD OF COMMAND BEFORE THE BARRIER BREAKS!”

Her legs give out from under her and she tumbles forward in a heap, her momentum eventually comes to a halt and she tries standing again.
“Relax!”
She instantly falls to the ground again with a groan.

Huh… it looks like it does what you thought it would… complete body paralysis. With a single word you can turn her into a limp little rag doll. That could be interesting…

Inuyasha walks past you to collect the hair demon, stopping for a moment to eye Kaede before moving on.

“I must warn ye; do not make the same mistakes ye did in the past life child…” she hands you the prayer beads “If ever ye suspect Inuyasha… simply will it, and he too shall be collared.”

You feel your face redden a bit and you open your mouth to speak but you’re cut off. “It will work on no other demons. Kikyo sampled his yōki (demonic energy) Before he killed her so that artifact is bound to him…” she adds

“I see… And what about the vill- Relax-agers?”

“I tried, but I am only the village elder. They do not trust demons and your arrival has heralded much violence and death. Your life is cursed to suffer that same fate as long as ye hold the Jewel… Just as Kikyo did before ye.”

You feel your face flush again as Inuyasha offers to act as your escort without a second thought.

You gather your old PJs from Kaede’s house and march down to the river, tiptoeing around the stones on the shore until you’re ankle deep. Inuyasha continues to stare at you from the shore until you hold your finger up and do a spinning motion. He sighs and turns around, taking a seat next to Yura as you proceed to clean yourself off in the night chilled river in silence.

“So… why’d ya stop her?” the dog demon finally speaks up amongst the constant chirping of crickets.

“You’ve been through a lot today and you’re a totally different person than when we first met. I don’t inherently trust you, but I think you’re a good person at heart.” You reply without hesitation; submerging your head in the water.

“And what makes ya so sure I an’t faken it?”

“You’re not the type… you’re far too impatient to plan like that.”

“Pah… what do you know about me anyway?” He scoffs at your remark and the three of you continue to sit in silence until you finish. Inuyasha switches places with you and washes himself off as well, however it’s far less thorough.

Clean and refreshed, the three if you head to Kaede’s house and enjoy an abridged supper before retiring for the night. You dream of an immense darkness taking shape around you. Something solid, yet ethereal. A pink spark ignites. Then another. You can hear it speaking to you, but you can’t understand it. This sort of crap doesn’t even surprise you any more.

The sound of chirping birds rouses you from your sleep. You roll over, a little disappointed the dream ended. A strange wave of loneliness crashes over you for a second. Looking out the window, you see the sun is just starting to break the horizon. Inuyasha is already up, clumsily throwing plants in a pot trying to make tea or something. Yura still lays sleeping on the floor and Kaede seems to have left.

Getting up with a stretch, you excuse yourself and step outside into the crisp morning air. The sun breaks the horizon, blinding you momentarily. You raise your hand to cover your eyes, but something else blocks it out.

“Good morning Ms. Kagome… I'm sorry to hear you go, but if you'll hear me out, I have a business proposal you might find interesting...”

Two weeks. You have been tracking and reporting on this mark for two weeks now and you finally received your orders this morning. A team of five. Embarrassingly small for someone of your caliber. Embarrassingly unalert for someone of theirs.

You reach behind you and pluck out an arrow from your quiver, nocking it with utmost care. You hold your breath and swivel ever so slightly to the right to account for the wind. You let fly.

Three. Two… You launch your second ranged attack with a thrown weapon. The arrow finds its mark. Move. You sprint from the saw grass, ignoring the lacerations. The thrown weapon hits, grinding into number twos back shattering his vertebrae.

You unsheathe your blade slicing through number threes kidney with ease as you run, stopping at his side. Poor armor quality.

Number four turns to look at you, now aware of the situation. You plunge your blade into threes heart and spin for momentum, whipping yourself to a kneeling stance on the ground with an arrow nocked and promptly fire, forever silencing number four.

You roll forward and disembowel four for good measure with your backup dagger. Number five finally turns around. He has made the mistake of seeing your face. You throw the dagger. A temporary distraction as you lunge for your thrown weapon. You grab its handle and spin yourself on your free hand knocking him to his back. Using your momentum again you let your weapon direct your flow back up into an upright position, then crashing down onto his skull with a sickening crunch. Five.

You're a wind of destruction. You're the best at what you do.
