>So what is this, anyway?
A quest set in the Gundam franchise's Universal Century, UC 0083.

>How does voting work?
You'll have 15 minutes to vote on a course of action, and roll if that's required. The first three rolls for the winning course of action will be considered, with higher rolls being better. Write-ins are encouraged, and may end up worked into an update in some form. This is especially true for dialogue.

NEW THIS THREAD: Rolls will be 1d100 from this point onward to better reflect the increasing number of variants and improvements to both your mobile suits and others in the setting.

>How can I get caught up?
I have just the thing for you:

>Neat. So when do you usually run?
Saturdays and Sundays, starting at 10pm UK time (5pm EST; 2pm PST).

>Do you have a Twitter?
Sort of. You can find me at @QMKingofHearts, but I don't use Twitter aside from announcing threads.

The date is April 17th, UC 0083, and the time is currently 08:15. You are Lieutenant Commander Dominic O'Hara, mobile suit ace and 19 year-old veteran of the One Year War. In the last thread you interrogated a captive Haman Karn, and apparently managed to convince her to follow you and your team... at least for the time being. You also received a message from the Regent of Axis - Haman's father, Admiral Maharaja Karn, who requested that you watch over his daughter while she remains with the Federation. However your discussion with Admiral Karn and Commander Aznable left questions about the long-term political fallout of your successful mission, and to this point several of your team members have expressed concern over your orders so far.

When you awaken, you find that the sisters have already gotten up and left without disturbing you: possibly for an early breakfast. You can also feel that the rooms next to yours are empty, which means that Commander Joshua, Reiko, and Audrey have already gone to work as well. Haman, on the other hand, is still sound asleep.

The day is yours to deal with as you see fit, though you probably only have time to handle one major issue before your team's scheduled exercise session for the day... which according to your watch is about 45 minutes from now, at 09:00.

Yay, caught the beginning of a thread! Can you announce them on twitter/provide a link when they start?

Leave a note for Haman informing her where we're going. Something with a bit of snark.

>Find Karen and Reiko, register a few of your companions' concerns with them

Karen isn't going to be able to answer our concerns, because if she's been dumped with a newtype squad, they don't think too much of her, and won't tell her anything.
>>
>>33068194
> Find Karen and Reiko, register a few of your companions' concerns with them
Lets ask them about the whole situation on Haman and the data we've decided to keep for now.

We can leave a note behind for Haman. She can sleep in - she's a civilian, after all.
>>
Since we're going the FEELINGS route, page Audrey and ask her to get started on the maneuvering research package. Keep quiet so as to not wake Haman.
>>
Next vote breaks the three-way tie.

Since Haman is our charge, we must make sure that she stays healthy and active. That includes Breakfast and morning training...
>>

I think its

>leave note for Haman
>send page to Audrey to get started on research
>register concerns over Breakfast with Reiko

Decent compromise?

While you may be inclined to let Haman just sleep after all she's been through recently, it makes just as much sense to get her used to your team's schedule if she's going to be around for a while. She also happens to be your responsibility, and you'd like to make sure she's up before the galley closes.

"Hey, Haman," you mutter, nudging her on the shoulder. In response she rolls over and mutters something incoherent that sounds a lot like "my first".

So you nudge her again, but this time much harder. "Haman, you're gonna miss breakfast, or what passes for it here."

Suddenly, the young redhead awakes with a start and yelps as she bounces off the ceiling. For a moment you feel disorientation and panic, but Haman quickly realizes where she is and manages to catch her breath.

"What do you want, O'Hara?" she snaps. "I was having such a lovely dream, and you had to go and ruin it..." Strangely, it seems she's blushing slightly.

"We run on a tighter schedule than you may be used to," you explain. "I wanted to make sure you got something to eat."

Haman nods, apparently satisfied. "Then thank you, O'Hara. I will be ready shortly," she tells you as she floats towards the bathroom.

In the ten minutes or so it takes Haman to freshen up, you send a brief message to Audrey asking to prepare a list of possible mobility enhancements she can perform with the parts and materials you have available, as well as a message for Karen asking to meet with her later to discuss the new data retrieved from Schnee Weiss. Finally, once Haman returns, you show her out the hatch and make your way towards the galley.

Sure enough, the sisters are already there with a meal ready for you.

>>33068856
"Hey, Dom," Catrina greets you. "I thought you were going to let sleeping beauty do her thing this morning?"

"Nah, I figured she could use some food," you explain. "Haman, the serving line is right there, should be empty."

As Haman nods and drifts towards the counter to feed herself, Carya catches your attention.

"Hey, Dominic?"

"Yeah?" You can feel a bit of tension radiating from the sisters, which means that whatever comes next is going to be serious business.

"The funeral service for the GM pilots killed in action at Axis is right before lunch... we were wondering if there were any plans to attend."

You shrug. "Why wouldn't we?"

Carya merely points behind you, and you turn to see a table of angry-looking EFSF regulars. Some are eying your table suspiciously, where others are glaring at Haman as she returns with her food. Now that you know what you're looking for, their anger towards you, her, and all of your team is apparent.

>Your response? Attending could cause problems, but so could not attending.
>>
>>33068971
We're going, of course, it's only right.
>>
>>33068971
Of course we're attending. We'll probably have some hard questions directed at us, but not showing up is only gonna reinforce any antagonism.
>>
>>33068971
Well, it'd be disrespectful not to go.

Though we should probably clear the air with the pilots beforehand.
Did we even give our condolences?
>>
>>33068971
We should go, we're the commander of the unit so we are duty bound to. I'd probably suggest that Haman and the Sisters not. I'd almost suggest telling the other soldiers that Char was piloting the Mobile Armor, it might re-direct their anger.
>>
>>33068971

Stare back at the pilots' table and say, "We'll attend - Haman will attend. People will be human and hate no matter what we do. All we can do is show respect for the dead and deceased and hope to further minimize casualties next time."
>>
>>33069196
>Haman will attend.
nope. You're just asking for undue problems.
>>
>>33069196
Nah man, they're grown men who just lost friends, preaching at them isn't gonna help. Haman probably shouldn't come.
>>
>>33068971

"Attend obviously. Not much we can do for the dead but send them on their way."
>>
>>33069196
I think this is too antagonistic, we've got to spend a month with these people, and all it takes is a shank in a corridor.

It also seems a bit too "UNDERSTANDING". We're not exactly Jesus Yamato or !gundam.
>>
>>33069232

>undue problems

We're on a tin can hurtling through the vacuum of space with a Zeke pilot running lose on the ship. It's only a matter of time before HAPPENING.
>>
>>33068971
"I think we should go," you tell her as Haman takes a seat next to you.

"Go where?"

"The service for the four GM pilots who died yesterday." And just like that, you could feel Haman's guilt surge back to the fore.

"It might be best if you don't attend, Haman," you continue. "We could leave someone with you and go."

"Might wanna leave Reiko," Catrina offers. "Low profile enough that nobody'd miss her."

You nod back at her and take a swig of vile, reconstituted "orange juice". "That'd be good, I think. I also might want to arrange something with the remaining GM pilots after our gym session. Try and defuse any antagonism there."

Carya shakes her head. "It's up to you, Dom, but I'd give it some time. Their friends' deaths are still fresh in their minds."

After finishing on that rather sombre note, you decide to finish eating and meet with the rest of your team. The three of you wolf down the last of your waffles, which might have actually have been good if you could have poured syrup on them, and dispose of the containers before adjourning to the exercise room.

As usual, it's only you and your team in here at this time slot: which you find has been shortened due to the funeral being held later. Karen and Reiko arrive not much later, and finally Audrey rushes in just after the wall clock hits 09:00.

Commander Joshua stands at one of the resistance exercise stations and begins setting up the resistance bands for a full-body workout, then ties back her dark red hair into a bun to get it out of the way. Since you figured you wanted to talk to her anyway, you did the same. It always amuses you to see that despite being a bit smaller than you, she sets the resistance bands at the same settings you use.

"I have... something... to tell... you... ABOUT..." you grunt as your arms strain against about 200 pounds of resistance.

"Yeah?" she grunts back. "I'm still... not... into... younger... MEN..."

"It isn't that," you manage, switching briefly to squats and making it easier to talk. "It's about the data... from Schnee Weiss."

"Oh?" she replies as she performs a leg lift. "What about it?"

You take a moment to switch the position of the pulleys to start tricep push-downs. "It's a simpler version of the software used by other psycommu-equipped machines."

"And?" she grunts as she works on her biceps for a second set. "What... abboudit?"

"I'd like to hang onto it. Keep it under wraps for now."

Karen stops briefly to look at you. "Dom, you know what you're asking me, right?"

>>
>>33070326
Seems a bit over the top, if they were going to cut out our brains they would have done it previously. Personally I'd just mention the fact that Zeon's experiments on Newtypes weren't always humane and you want to ensure that the data goes to someone who won't abuse it.
>>
>>33070421

>someone who won't abuse it

Only leaves us with The Good Doctor. Unless we want to jump ship and drift/starve to death on our slow jaunt back to Axis.
>>
>>33070326
"Yes, Karen," you tell her, no longer even pretending to be focused on your exercise. "I know it's asking a lot, but I'd rather keep it under wraps. I still have this nagging feeling that advancing the Federation's Newtype research too much too quickly ends in me and Carya's brains getting cut open to build a smarter gun or something."

Karen winces, and you can tell something you said struck a chord. "That's right... it's personal for you."

"So what would you do in my place?" you press.

The Commander sighs. "I don't know, kid. But I guess you've made your point. Tell Audrey you have my permission to hang onto the data yourself, and hope nobody decides to poke into it."

You nod. "Thanks, Karen. I appreciate it."

"Sure, Dominic. Just hope to God it ends up being for nothing."

For the next half hour or so, things go smoothly. Your team switches between strength-building exercises and treadmill running in a familiar sort of routine made no less familiar for having an extra participant. But speaking of extra participants, you get the feeling of a group of people approaching... and you can tell the sisters and Haman have noticed it as well.

It takes mere seconds for several EFSF regulars to let themselves into the training room.

"We have the room reserved," Karen explains to them, clearly sensing trouble. "I suggest you leave."

One of the men eyes you, cracking his knuckles threateningly. "No."

"I take it you're not here to use the machines," you observe wearily. "Fine. If you want to settle things, there's a ring right here if it suits you."

I'm going to assume until told otherwise that the 47 and 40 are Reiko and Haman. Support staff and civilians have excuses for not being super awesome in a fight. The actual combat hardened members, though, kick all the ass. I'd assume Audrey gets the 71 since she's the least experienced of us, Carya/Catrina gets the other 88 because they're in sync with Dom, and Karen gets the 93 because she is and always will be the most beast of female Gundam characters.
>>
>>33071689
>(yeesh)
In battle there are three kinds of people: noncombatants, allies, and enemies. These soldiers may be EFSF, like you are, but they've chosen to attack you and your unit anyway which makes them your enemies.

You elect to deal with the first fighter quickly. You never learned that much in the way of technical capoeira, but what you do know gives you an advantage. First of all, it lets you land a vicious asfixiante on him, and the force of your punch buries your knuckles in his esophagus. That should put him down for a while.

Now free, you take stock of what's going on around you: Audrey has taken a hard hit to her nose, which is now bleeding freely. It doesn't look broken, though, and her attacker is worse off. Carya and Catrina have teamed up, and in their anger at having seen Audrey so badly bloodied they've already torn through their assailant and joined Audrey's fight with a series of uncommitted chain punches that have freed Audrey up to help out.

Karen has elected to not even bother maneuvering. She's currently got a hand around her opponent's neck and is beating his face in with her other hand. The man's trying to protect his face and failing magnificently.

Reiko and Haman are in a bad way. You can feel that Reiko is dizzy and disoriented, having taken an even worse punch than Audrey. A cloud of blood droplets are drifting along with her while Haman faces off against both her assailant and Reiko's, having made little or no progress.

To your side, the sisters are pushing their opponent backwards with a continuous barrage of punches, straight from her centerline to her opponent's. Behind them you see a trail of blood... and what looks like a few teeth.

Karen takes a vicious hook to the temple from her would-be victim and loses her grip on him. It looks bad... until C.C.'s punching bag slams into him from the side and they both end up pinned against the bulkhead by a rain of punches. This might have been the moment when Catrina might have gone in for a quip, but instead the two can only manage an inarticulate scream of rage as they continue to beat on the soldiers who DARED to attack your team.

For your part, you manage to put the momentum from your spin to good use: a hooked rasteira sweeps the legs out from under the bastard who floored Reiko, and your continued spin puts you in perfect position to strike at the man's head with your knee. For his transgressions, you've repaid him several times over.

Haman takes advantage of the situation and strikes her opponent in the groin, which sends him bouncing off the ceiling. As for Audrey, you spot her as you cartwheel to slow yourself: she's using the line to the bridge to call the MPs.

Before C.C. manages to kill her opponents, you drift to her and catch her wrist. She looks at you strangely, as if struggling to recall where she is or what she was doing.

"That's enough," you tell her. "Enough people have died already." As you turn to leave her, you can feel a surge of guilt and humiliation from the sisters at their loss of control as their minds separate again and they return to their senses.

Your emotions, however, don't fade. The senselessness of it all, the injury done to your friends: you feel angrier now than ever in your life. Karen stops checking on Reiko, who seems to have recovered a little, and Audrey helps pull Haman's assailant away from her, which is made easier by the man having ceased fighting to back away from you.

"Stop," you order them in a familiar surge of energy that reminds you of A Baoa Qu. "I have no idea what you're here to do, but you've failed. So just STOP."

"That bitch killed four of our..." one of the more or less conscious men begins before you silence him.

"I don't care what you think about her," you explain. "She's alive for the same reason you're still breathing: because I am ALLOWING it. She is MY responsibility."

"I... understand, sir," the soldier replies weakly. It seems to be taking every effort for him to keep from running.

"Good," you tell him. "And if you or anyone else aboard this ship tries to take matters into their own hands, they won't find me as 'agreeable'. Understand?"

"Yes, sir."

The MPs and medics arrive moments later to take the regulars into custody. The troopers give you a particularly wide berth as they go about their business as they go about their duties.

The sisters have broken a finger, which gets a splint, and Audrey's nose is bandaged to help promote clotting in the freefall. Haman is badly bruised in some places, but seems more or less okay. After a bad shot to the side of the head, Karen will be taking the day off, but seems to have avoided a concussion. Reiko, who had received the worst of it, will be joining her: her nose was broken, and one of her ribs has been cracked. You managed to come out with a black eye, a cut on your head, and a strained wrist: when you took those hits, you couldn't even tell.

Your attackers are much worse off: those who won't be spending the whole trip back in the sick bay will be in the brig.

"What in the GODDAMN HELL happened here?" the Captain of the Kyongju asks you as the last of his men is carried off.

"We are currently holding prisoner the pilot of the Newtype-use mobile suit captured during our mission. As she is a civilian I thought it improper to confine her fully and decided to allow her limited mobility around the ship provided she is accompanied by a member of my team at all times. Some of your men, resentful over the fact that she killed their friends, took issue with this. I was sympathetic to their frustration, having been in similar situations myself before, and offered to let them work out their stress in a spar. Instead, they turned it into an all out brawl. I did what I felt was needed to restrain them and protect my team and charge."

"Sir. Some of your men attacked my team during our scheduled exercise regimen. Lingering resentment over the battle at Axis, most likely."

The man peers at you from beneath bushy, salt-and-pepper eyebrows, and frowns. "I suppose I can sympathize with both sides, Commander. I will deal with my men, and increase security around your team's areas of the ship."

"And in return, I'll deal with our unit's affairs, sir," you reply.

"It's a deal, son," the Captain agrees. "I may not like it, but it's the best we're going to do. Now get on your class-a's, I'd like to see at least two of you at the service."

"And the rest of the crew?" Carya asks quietly.

"They won't be a problem," the Captain tells her. "If I could feel your friend's frustration, I doubt anyone on this ship couldn't. Those who didn't know about the attack beforehand have probably figured it out."

It takes a few minutes to prepare for the funeral service. Karen wishes you luck before collapsing into Audrey's bed. Reiko mumbles something along the lines of "Noin Balzac" before passing out. Audrey and Haman offer to stay behind and ensure that your Commander and secretary are well cared-for, which leaves you and the sisters as the sole representatives of your unit.

"Alright," Catrina mutters as you find a place in the assembly. "At least they're not ALL staring."

There are four caskets on the hangar bay floor, by the doors to the launch ramp. Each is draped in an Earth Federation flag, and each is empty inside. None of the deaths yesterday would have left a body fit to be buried, so the whole exercise is more a formality than anything else.

A gray-haired chaplain in black robes begins the ceremony by reading from the Book of Common Prayer, reflecting the protestant leanings of the four pilots killed.

"Unto Almighty God we commend the souls of our brothers departed," he begins, "and we commit their bodies to the deep; in sure and certain hope of the Resurrection unto eternal life, through our Lord Jesus Christ; at whose coming in glorious majesty to judge the world, the sea shall give up her dead; and the corruptible bodies of those who sleep in him shall be changed, and made like unto his glorious body; according to the mighty working whereby he is able to subdue all things unto himself. Amen."

The assembly mouths "amen" in unison, before the Captain rises to speak.

"Today, we commemorate the lives of Ensign Zachary Zancuto, Ensign David Webb, Lieutenant Junior Grade Kenn Locke, and Lieutenant Jonathan Beele... and mark their passage."

"As soldiers, it is expected that we will face death at some point. It's a part of our job, a part of our duty, and we do it willingly in the belief that when we have discharged our duty, our home and our loved ones will be safer for it. The four pilots whom we are gathered here today to remember were soldiers who faced their deaths with courage. They will be missed not just by ourselves, but by those whom they left behind at home, and who they served to protect, and who cherished their lives. Let us not forget those who have survived them, and let us hold them in our prayers as well this day."

(2/3)
>>
>>33073998
"But," he continues, "let us also not cling to thoughts of vengeance. Ours is not to exact Earthly justice, and to do so would bring nothing worthwhile. Instead, we must each of us find ways to ensure that those who perished in the line of duty did not do so in vain, and that the peace and security they fought to protect does not die alongside them."

"That, not revenge, is the best way to honor their sacrifice."

After the Captain is done speaking, the pipes play, and the assembly salutes. Finally, after saying the Lord's prayer, the chaplain dismisses you all, and you find your way back to your team's quarters.

"So, Haman," you ask the young Newtype. "Are you holding up okay so far?"

You can feel another little wave of guilt wash over you. "It's my fault that Commander Joshua, Audrey, and Reiko were hurt," she says. "If I weren't here, there wouldn't have been a problem."

"And so what?" you retort. "Should I have killed you?"

"I... no, I suppose."

You shake your head. "The Captain just said something surprisingly wise: he said that it's our job as the survivors to make sure the dead didn't die in vain. I think one way or the other, a lot of us feel that way. I don't feel like bringing you in was a mistake at all."

Carya nods, and puts on a tired grin. "I know I don't, either. Don't get so down on yourself."

With a sigh, Haman maneuvers herself towards your room. "Thanks. Both of you. I think I needed to hear that."

Audrey follows you into your room as well, and turns to Haman. "Sorry, but I'm going to be sharing your bed for now. I want to give Reiko some space, and I'd rather not make Karen move."

Haman nods. "I'm fine with that, Ensign. So long as it's a short-term thing."

Eventually, the rest of your team begins to lose steam after the day's events. Partway through the "afternoon", you notice that Haman and Audrey are both asleep, and the sisters are dozing. Content to simply call it a day, you curl up with them and close your eyes as well.

No, we're going to Earth itself. We're taking her to the Oakland Newtype Labs (don't panic, Oakland was where they did the humane Newtype research. Augusta and Murasame were the mad science labs). "So that speech yesterday got me thinking... none of you have ever really talked about your families before."

"And so now you;re curious?" Audrey asks.

"Kind of," you admit.

"Well, I have two parents, and a couple of siblings back on Earth," Audrey tells you after swallowing some powdered egg. "We've never been very close. Both of my folks are in business, and they don't really approve of my career choices. I miss my siblings sometimes, though. If I can get some leave, my older brother lives in San Francisco, so I'd like to visit him."

You smile. "My dad's a businessman, but my mom's a school teacher. My older sister is a mechanic. They live on Londenion, so I sometimes got to talk to them when conditions for a long-range satellite call were clear enough."

Haman leans back against the bulkhead and sips at some sort of juice. "My mother passed a few years ago, and my older sister died on the way to Axis. That left my father, whom you've met, and my little sister, Serrana. We were also meant to care for Mineva Zabi, Dozle Zabi's daughter."

"You don't seem worried about leaving them," Audrey observes.

Haman shuts her eyes. "My father is a powerful man. He'll see to their safety... and if worst comes to worst that jerk Char may even lend a hand."

"And you, Carya?" Audrey asks. "What's your family like?"

"The Flannigan Institute preferred to work with orphans," Carya explains. "My sister and I are all we have."

"I... wow." Audrey shifts her weight awkwardly. "I'm sorry, I didn't know it was like that."

"It's nice," Audrey replies. "I don't think my brother would mind a group visit."

"We might also check out the Oakland labs themselves," Carya offers. "See what they're up to."

"Speaking of which," Audrey asks, "are we still going to hold onto the Schnee Weiss data?"

"Yeah, at least for a while. Karen gave her blessings when I asked her."

"So..." she continues. "I don't suppose anyone would mind if we isolated the psycommu hardware and scrounged the rest of the machine for parts?"

You stare at her for a moment as she explains. "There's a 1190kW reactor there, cooling equipment, an abundance of thrusters, and a LOT of titanium... so we could fabricate a few test models en route to the Earth Sphere."

"And get rid of evidence," Catrina adds, to which Audrey merely nods affirmative. "I like it."

The rest of the team doesn't know Carya and Catrina are fused though, right? So do they think her sister's just not part of the military, or do they think Carya's crazy and hallucinating the presence of Catrina? She has been using the plural to refer to herself an awful lot, after all.

Also, wow, Haman, coming right out there with the Mineva. Did not expect that. I guess that destroying and then rebuilding a young girl's worldview helps a lot to earning her trust.

>Take what you need
Leave enough that there's still a discernible mobile suit there. Our orders were to bring in the Schnee Weiss and we'll fulfill them. But we can take some things. My suggestions would be to leave at least one of any remaining bits intact, as well as the frame and the main power systems. But the thrusters, cooling systems and any auxiliary power systems (E-Caps as well as any secondary heat exchangers or MHD coils) can be taken. Maybe a few non-critical pieces of armor, as well.

>>33075493
>Leave nothing useful

So I'm a pleb and am unfamiliar with pretty much all things Gundam, having only seen a smattering of episodes from both the Wing series and 8th MS Team.

Could someone kindly elaborate Newtypes from Oldtypes? I think I have the gist of it, but having it spelled out would be quite nice.

Also, where would one start with watching the Gundam shows?
>>
>>33075712
Space psychics that have fast reflexes, little bit of telepathy and prediction of the next few seconds in the future. Also allows them to telepathically control drones with special systems.

Stronger ones attract people, terrify people, or kill them with mind bullets.
>>
>>33075712

Newtypes are spess born psykers without the whole daemon possession issue.
Oldtypes are mundanes from earth.
>>
>>33075761
>>33075787

That's about what I had gathered. Thanks for the confirmation.
>>
>>33075712
www.anilinkz.com is a good place to start. The official Gundam Info youtube page used to have all the series, but for some reason they took down everything but Build Fighters and the SEED remasters.

As for the difference between Oldtypes and Newtypes? Oldtypes are just regular human beings. Newtypes are...something different. It's not clear what causes someone to be a Newtype, though it's been theorized that spending significant time in microgravity speeds the process. It's kept pretty vague just what the extent of their abilities are, but low level clairvoyance is a common one. They can also communicate telepathically with each other, and occasionally Oldtypes if they're particularly strong projectors. When they do this they tend to have hallucinations of each other naked and illuminated in bright neon colors. Finally, since Newtypes can communicate telepathically properly-formatted control systems can receive this. This means that Newtypes can gain better control over their mobile suit or direct remote weapons despite jamming.

Any other powers are usually unique to individual Newtypes. It also helps that later models of Newtype mind-machine interfaces didn't just receive their powers but also enhanced them. For example, when Kamille Bidan synchronized with the biosensor unit in his Zeta Gundam, he could actually summon the souls of the dead to boost his machine's power output.
>>
>>33075712
What constitutes a Newtypes is left pretty ambiguous, but they've been shown displaying telepathy, telekinesis, and weaponized mind rape. They tend to have a limited form of prescience that just looks like super fast reflexes too, but possibly the most telling sign is the ability for two newtypes to instantly 'understand' where the other is coming from (their motivations and experiences ect), so newtypes can form pretty significant bonds very fast.

As for what series to start with, Mobile Suit Gundam, the first one is ideal, but it hasn't aged that well, especially visually. If you can find the three movies they chopped it into, they'll get you mostly up to speed.
>>
>>33075712
Newtypes are individuals with heightened spatial awareness and mental sensitivity, largely having arisen from the needs of living (and particularly fighting) in space. Essentially, their brains work differently, even to the point of being able to control weaponry from a distance or (like Scirocco) damage people's minds directly.

Best place to get a feel for the UC timeline are the original three: Mobile Suit Gundam, Zeta, and ZZ. 08th MS and War in the Pocket are nonessential, but interesting depictions of the One Year War from alternate perspectives. Stardust Memory is pretty to look at, but none of the events, machines, or characters matter in the long run aside from the very end.
>>
>>33075893
>Stardust Memory is pretty to look at, but none of the events, machines, or characters matter in the long run aside from the very end.
Sad but true. People claim that Stardust Memory is important for setting the stage for the Titans to rise to power, but honestly they had such momentum that they would have managed that even without Operation Stardust panicking the Federation leadership. No matter how much we derail the plot, we're still probably going to have to deal with the Titans eventually.

The one thing nobody else covered is that most easily pinned down definition of Newtype is space psychic, the term originally got coined by Char's papa Zeon Deikum, who used it describe the next stage of human evolution who'd bring in an era of peace and prosperity for mankind through their inherent understanding of one another. It hasn't exactly panned out that way yet. It's also worth noting that Gihren Zabi, the guy whose own dad compared him to Hitler, hijacked the Newtype philosophy to justify the inherent superiority of Zeon.

The psycommu system for Schnee Weiss is still rather massive. Its next generation replacement, Tusche Schwarz, would have used a smaller psycommu system, but Axis was doing their program on a shoestring budget so producing said system was going to take a while. The operating system being tested in Schnee Weiss when you captured it would have helped allow for the final miniaturization.

You'll have four 2,000kg thrusters, nine 1,000kg thrusters, and two 22,000kg thrusters to work with. We'll get into that later today.

Hmmm.... depending on the power requirements for the thrusters, there is a potential for massive single direction movement, or omni-directional thrusters allowing for massive jinks in attack runs...

I won't say anything about possible future developments until later tonight, but the Lilium already has four 20,000kg thrusters on its back positioned in an X, which allow for very quick maneuvers.
