YOU ARE LOLI,

You are staring out across the open ground behind the building, at the horde of "zombies" coming to reoccupy the building you're currently hunkered down in. On the other side, a handful of bandits still litter the area between you and the rest of your team. The gunfire between the two sides is rapidly growing more sporadic, but they're still definitely trying their level best to murder each other.

One of the bandits' rounds sails through the doorway, clipping the way to ricochet past you, snapping the air as it passes by your head. The noise cuts you from your trance, and you drop in to a crouch beside Dave, casually leaning back in his chair. Apparently infected by his mood, Doggy waddles over and rests his chin on Dave's knees. Dave ruffles Doggy between the ears, looking to you as if your action-ready pose were the strangest thing he'd ever seen.

[ ]Whatever. Give up and wait patiently with Dave.
[ ]Bah! You're not sitting around like this. Blow your way out and clear away the bandits before the zombies get here.
[ ]Formulate an actual plan. (Write-in.)

Fuck Dave. Fuck his shit. We're not doing his idea because fuck his condescending smart ass. And now he even tries to steal Doggy.
>>

>[X]Bah! You're not sitting around like this. Blow your way out and clear away the bandits before the zombies get here.

You grumble your dissatisfaction at Dave, "Well I'm not just going to sit here. Doggy, come on!" Dave shrugs and remains seated, but Doggy obediently lifts his head and pads to your side. You move to the doorway and poke your head out. There are still a few bandits keeping down in cover, but there's only two of them between you and the bridge where Eliza is waiting.

They seem to have realized they can't engage her effectively, so instead they're seeking cover either where she can't bring her gun to bear, or can't fire without the risk of the shell skipping up into your building. Kris and Ice are only firing on those who lift their heads, and so they've taken to blind-firing back at them. The one bandit closest to you has his eyes and gun trained on your doorway, and seems ready to shout a warning to his comrades if you try to make a break for it.

[ ]Engage them from here. Fire on the bandits in the open from you.
[ ]Take the fight to them. Take out the one watching you first then rush the ones with their backs turned.
[ ]Just try to break out. Blitz through the middle and rush the bridge.

Plan set in your mind, you check the magazine in your Empi, and it's a good thing, too! It weighs almost nothing, meaning it's probably empty. You switch it out for the last magazine you have that's still full and ready yourself against the corner. Peeking out and keeping your eye on the man watching you, you wait for him to look around again. Wait, wait... There. The moment he takes his eyes off you to glance around the area, you spin out the door, drop to one knee and bring your gun to your shoulder.
Two rounds in his chest, the third kicking high and blowing through his face. You immediately roll back into the doorway, drop your gun, letting the sling take the weight and pull it your side and draw the silver pistol from your chest holster in your right hand, and one of your combat blades from your belt in your left.

You lean out again, making sure no-one else has reacted to you yet. They haven't. You take a deep breath, look Doggy in the eye and count down out loud.

"Three, two, one," You don't even get to shout GO! before Doggy leaps out the door ahead of you, charging for the closest meatsack. You leap into action after him, bringing your pistol up as you charge for the second-nearest group.

You fire on the run, rounds hitting square on your first target and knocking him flat. You pull your gun across to the second man, ready to bring him down similarly before he can react. And then you trip. Your foot lands awkwardly in a crack in the concrete, all your weight shifting over. Feeling it coming, you instinctively cut all strength from your leg and allow it to crumple under you without spraining your ankle. Still, you hit the ground hard, the side of your face scuffing along the ground as your roll to a stop at your opponent's feet.

"Oh sh-", he jerks around to bring his weapon down on you in a brutal clubbing motion. Before he manages though, you kick upwards, your foot connecting with his crotch. A squishy pop under your heel tells you the man's suffered irreparable damage and he stares at you in horror for a half-second before keeling over on top of you, squealing in agony and gripping his injury.

[ ]Finish him off.
[ ]Leave him be.

You take a moment to asses your new situation. The dip in the uneven ground means you're sort-of in cover from all directions, but it's certainly not a great place to be. The tumble's scratched you up a bit and your ankle feels a little sore. But more importantly, the precious few seconds of delay mean the rest of your foes have noticed your presence and are now facing you instead of concentrating across the river.

Meanwhile, Doggy has finished mauling his prey and is a short run from the bridge.

Without another thought, you slip your knife under him and hack through his throat in a single slice. He rolls over, gargling helplessly at you, eyes pleading for his life far too late. Once he's done passing on you stay low, slipping your knife back into its sheath and instead drawing the blackened pistol from your leg holster.

Sensing a lull in the fire from the group, you pop up and open up with both pistols, spraying down their position with both guns. After what feels like a healthy burst, you drop back into cover and admire your work. Two of the bandits are dead, the third is hit in the leg. He crawls desperately away from you, trying to get to the other side of his bushline from you. Of course, the moment he reaches the end of the cover, Ice puts a bullet through him and he crumples lifeless to the ground.

As if on queue, the horde of zombies behind you reaches the building and begins firing in your general direction. They're definitely wanting on the accuracy front, rounds flying wildly into the dirt yards away from you. Not exactly a comfortable position to be in, but you don't feel in danger of actually being hit at this range.

You quickly run your hands over the two men in the dead ground with you. You find a few rifle and pistol magazines, though you're not sure if they're useful to you. You pocket them anyway, intending to let Kris check them for you later. You also take a moment to rifle their pockets and take their wallets.

The wild firing is starting to grow closer and closer to your position, so you decide it's about time to leave. With a hard burst, you throw yourself over the lip and sprint for the bridge. Doggy matches your pace with ease, staying a few steps in front of you until you reach the safety of Eliza. As soon as you pass her, she kicks into gear and reverses steadily along the road. Ice and Kris break from their positions beside the river and pull back to you behind Eliza. She keeps herself between you and the zombies until you've back all the way up the hill, out of sight of the mill where the freed hostages are waiting for you.

You grin happily at them in greeting. "You're safe now, we freed you!"

Their reaction is not what you expected. The one on the right stumbles back, falling on his ass. The left drops to his knees, holding both hands out in surrender to you.

"W-we don't, don't have any ch-chocolate on us," he stammers out at you. "P-PLEASE DON'T KILL US!"

Ice and Kris come up behind you, looking in bewilderment at the man. "What the f-" At the sound of Ice's voice, the man crumples to the ground, both hands covering his head in terror. "Uh, what the heck did you say to him?" He looks at you in amusement.

"I didn't say anything!" You protest, pouting at Ice. Turning back to the prostrate figure, "why would I kill the people I just saved? You're being silly." You reach down and gently lift him back to his feet, then wrap your arms around his waist in a comforting hug.
"There, there. You're safe now." You can feel his heartbeat still hammering in his chest. "Don't worry about the chocolate, you can pay me back later."
Ah. That seems to have done it. His breathing rapidly steadies, and you can feel his heart calming at the same time.

"R-right. Yeah, that's good. Heh... heheh. Yeah. So, uh. Thanks, I guess. For saving us. So uh, what's happening now?"

"Well," Kris says cooly, "we're going back to the station to get paid. You can do what you like!"

The two men look blankly at her, before offering to accompany you back. Then Ice speaks up. "Hey, uh. Where's the freak?"
Good point. You shrug.

"He said he had a plan to get out, so I left him there."

Ice frowns for a second, then shrugs. "Well, no loss if he doesn't make it out." He starts to wander off along the road ahead of you.

"That's cold, Ice, even for you." Kris jogs a few paces to catch up. "Would you say the same if it was me?" Despite the morbid question, there's a playful tint to her tone.

"'Course not," he grumbles. "I like you." She flashes him an overjoyed grin, then focuses her attention outward as the rest of the team falls in behind them.

You're over the hill and descending down into the dried riverbed when a rustling from the bushes ahead causes you all to freeze, attention fixed. A few seconds later, a figure appears from the brush, Dave saunters out and stops a few paces ahead. An amused glint flickers through his eyes as the tension drains from the team.

>[X]Ask him how he got out.

You stare him down for a long few moments, then ask him the obvious question. "How did you get out of there? You were surrounded."

He tilts his head, as if you'd asked the silliest question. "Ie took the back door, off course. Hkow else?"

You look blankly at him, blinking a few times trying to comprehend how that was an answer. "That's not an answer," you tell him. How did you get past them without getting shot?"

He shrugs. "By not, getting shot."

You're about to yell at him to be serious, but Ice cuts you off. "Hey Dave, I ever tell you I don't like you?"

"Ie don't, believe yhou did."

"Well, I don't like you."

"Duly noted," Dave replies with a smirk. This elicits a giggle from Kris. Then he turns around and walks away towards Skadovsk. Ice grumbles to himself, but falls in behind him regardless. Kris gestures for you to follow on, too.

You reach the wrecked ship without further incident. Inside, you're met with a chorus of cheers, everyone gathering to welcome the hostages safely home. They also insist on shaking Ice and Dave's hands, patting them on the back and generally throwing words of thanks about. One of the older loners even ruffles your hair. Kris slips through the crowd, though, aiming straight for the bar. You can see Beard greet her, and the two start talking in quiet tones.

You carefully extricate yourself from the attentive crowd without trying to draw too much attention, directing what you can to the guys. Once clear, you hop up to the bar beside Kris. "So that's anti-radiation meds sorted, at least. And enough food and water to last us another week."

Beard nods, "you've still got enough for a solid rifle. Or a ballistic vest if you'd like. And," he glances at you, "possibly something more practical? While I'm making a boatload from the pictures, that's no good if my star ends up dead in Pripyat."

Kris nods thoughtfully, staring straight ahead. "Ammo's low, but we're not desperate for now. I'd like to get us some gas masks, enough for everyone, so I guess we'll need some more work for that." She looks down at you. "What d'ya think, Loli? Want a real outfit for once? Or should we get a present for Vasa instead?"

Vasa is already the greatest at shooting things but her plot armor keeps malfunctioning.

Also, check if he has things that are NOT practical, like pretty things. Those make the best gifts because they aren't just like "hey you get shot a lot so I got you this so we don't have to drag you out of there every time you get shot."

>>
>>33065128
Fact 1) Bad things always happen in the vicinity of Loli (totally not our fault though, seriously!)

Fact 2) The moment we have enough gear we will leave and head north.

It stands to reason, given the above, that the sooner Loli leaves, the less damage will be caused to his interests.

Please don't actually say this though, I'm just throwing it out there as a joke. There's absolutely no way to even say that without making it sound like a threat.
>>
>>33065128
>or offer an argument as to why he should give it all to you and expect you to survive long enough to pay him back.
Okay then;

We are a very high return rate/low risk investment for him, we get where we need to go and do our thing and everyone profits, and guess what, Beard is our friendly neighborhood merchant with a stranglehold on the market, he gives us the gear which we will repay over time and we will let him have first dibs on getting set up and doing business up north, as well as first dibs on all the juicy artifacts and gear we find that we can't use ourselves.

What does he have to lose? A few grand's worth of gear if we die, then he'd just send mercs to recover it from our corpse and sell it to the next Stalker who thinks his a hotshot.

The very future of his business remaining profitable and competitive depends on our partnership with him and us getting through the north alive, which we need that gear for.

Sure, he takes a loss in the short term, but keeping us alive with that gear secures his future in The Zone.

He can either not give us the gear and we can go be buddy buddy with another merchant or he can corner the market on all goods going into and out of the north.

Alright, hows this, that gear allows us better chances of survival and better chances of victory over whatever opposes us in our future, which means we keep doing business with him and further help his business expand in the north when we break through, its a toss up between a small profit from selling one item versus a short term loss of stock/profits in return for a long term increase in revenue and further expansion and avenues of income as well as much much rarer and more valuable artifacts and gear to be found, bought and sold through his shop and his network of traders.
>>

>[X]"I think she's prefer some armor for a change."

"She likes the gun she has, right? Maybe she'd like some armor for once. Let's get her for the vest!"

Kris smiles at your logic, "that's true. Okay, do you have a vest in, uh, girly sizes?" She looks hopefully at Beard, who simply raises an eyebrow back at her.

"I only stock one size here, the one standard size that everything military comes in: 'One Size Fits No-one'. Take it or leave it." He steps away from the counter, grabs an olive green military vest from his shelf and drops it with a thump in front of Kris. She pouts, but takes it anyway.

"Well, we're not going anywhere without those masks. So, I guess we still need some work around here at least. You got anything we can-" She stops talking mid-sentence, instead pulling her PDA from her vest pocket. It's lightly vibrating, and she quickly answers it while stepping away from the bar. "Vass?" A wide smile splits her face, "how are you? Feeling better?" Beard sighs, and turns to you instead.

dude, we have a tank and we know how to use it better than its previous owners

besides, he'd just anger the little knife demon and would end up with a LOT less customers (from us killing all the people he would use to defend himself) and a LOT less business from us and the work we do, the people we save, the loot we find

he has a one in a lifetime chance right here, it would be stupid to try and screw over Loli

>Both revolve on the idea of you leaving for the North like, right now. But you're waiting on Vasa and Viktor, which Beard is clued into. He'd just point this out and ask you to keep working for him until you're ready to go. If you'd like, you can barter for this agreement to get a few gas masks BEFORE this next job, and take the rest on delivery.

>Vasa should be back in action, (enough to travel unaided) within a few days, and if you haven't made enough to cover what you need by then, you're more than welcome to pitch the idea instead of hanging around for more work.

right then, so we take some jobs to get the cash for the gear and see if we need anymore when Vasa is ready for travel and ADVENTURE

and then we swindle the fuck out of Beard anyway
>>
>>33065327
Have we even brought him THAT much profit by means other than the photoshoots? We've only done a few jobs and haven't actually brought in a lot of loot, mostly just a few barely functioning weapons we didn't want to use ourselves. We never go hunting for artifacts either, so we've sold him a grand total of zero in that department. So really, as far as he's concerned Loli is more like a model who occasionally wanders off to shoot things because she gets bored.

You shrug off her sudden departure, and listen in to Beard's brief. "Well, there's not much for your 'skill-set' right now. But if you want to try branching out, I've got a few clients looking for certain artifacts. They're willing to pay handsomely, meaning I'm willing to pay you." You hmm in interest, and wait for him to continue. "Other than that, I guess you could run a few shipments for me. Some of the Stalker camps nearby need food and ammunition supplies, they'd appreciate you bringing it out to them instead of having to come pick up the delivery."

"More importantly," you interject, "do you have anything I could frame a photo in?"

"Wha-? Uh, I'm sure I've got something around here." You hand him your PDA, switching it to display the picture you snapped of Kris in the maid outfit. He growls under his breath, cursing something about switching everything back on, then stalks into his back room with your PDA.

You wait patiently for a few minutes until at last, he returns and hands you back the PDA, along with a small portrait picture with Kris in all her maidenly glory. You thank him, storing it safely in your pack. "Also this," he hands you another small item. You take it, finding it to be a small silver locket. Popping it open, the inside has a framed picture of just Kris' embarrassed face. You squeal in delight.

"It's perfect Beard, thank you!"

He chuckles, "don't worry about it. Now, do you want one of the jobs or not?"

Clearly our bartering skills and argument shall revolve around our modelling. Promise next time to do lewder poses with the girls, like cuddling, hugging or being on top of them while holding hands in various states of undress. Loli wont understand much, but its what the guys like so shell do it. Kris would get a kick out of it, and Vasa can be convinced since shell get some good skinship with Kris.
>>
>>33065528
Yeah, but everyone does jobs and such to get their money so it's not that special. Really just the latest job has been something that none of his guys were willing to do, rather than just whatever he had lying around. On top of that, he's actually been pretty helpful all along. Loli had less than nothing when she came to him and he got her back on her feet, helped her out by trying to spread a good word about her, has actually given her seemingly fair deals despite her not knowing what she was doing (unlike certain other merchants) so all in all he really doesn't owe us anything he hasn't made up for.

>[X]"Sure! Which pays the most and isn't suicide?"

"Yeah, okay. Which one pays the most and won't get us all killed?" Beard shrugs in response.

"Well, if you're not stupid, artifact hunting will get you the most quick cash. But you'll need to be prepared for it." You frown, thinking about it.

"We'd need gas masks to be prepared, right? But we don't have any now."

Beard pauses before answering. "I could lend you a pair, I guess. I doubt you'll all get yourselves killed on the first try at least." He hands you two old, dirty masks. You inspect them, then look at him indignantly.

"Why's there blood on them?"

He shrugs again, "they're second-hand. Don't worry, they're still sealed. Anyway, there's an artifact known as the 'Fireball'. They usually manifest in the flame anomaly areas around here. Either the burning farmstead or the Boiler. There's also an underground cavern in the hill under the farm that apparently has flame anomalies, though I've not had reports of Fireballs being found there. Where you get it doesn't both me, though it's worth noting there's been reported increases in mutant activity around the Boiler and farmstead."

As he finishes his brief, Kris ends her call and steps back over to you. Her cheeks seem a little flushed, but her face seems serious. "Okay, what's the plan?"

>>
>>33066293
>[X]Ask Kris' opinion on the options.

You reiterate the choices to Kris, and ask her opinion. Which should you go for?

"The Boiler is in the middle of a killzone. We can't get the tank in there thanks to the bog, so we'd have to go in completely on foot. But we could have overwatch positions from the hills surrounding it, and only send one or two of us in. It would also means if we come under attack from humans, we'd potentially be surrounded by attackers on high ground."
"On the other hand, the farmstead has a road all the way up, so we can ride the tank right to the doorstep. But it's a confined space, so if anything's up there we wouldn't have fire lanes. Also means no ambushes though."
"And the caverns, well. We haven't been there so I don't know. Though I imagine the anomalies itself are going to be our only issue down there, which would be nice, I guess."

After the thorough assessment of the options, she raises both hands, "it's your call, none of them sound appealing. But if they were, everyone would do it."

"Oh! Well, you don't have to kill for it! Hehe! It seems like Beard wants to keep doing it alot, and he's got someone making more clothes for me! I bet he'd love to make clothes for you two as well!"

The two share a look. Kris genuinely seems to be considering the option, while Vasa has taken a look of utter disgust at the proposal.

"Hmm," you ponder to yourself out loud, "do you think he'd pay more for naughty pictures?"

"Yes," is Vasa's reply, not a moment of hesitation. "But are you really willing to degrade yourself like that?"

"Well I guess we'll hit the farmstead then. Ride Eliza all the way up, then we're in close where I shine, right?" You grin at Kris, and she nods in reluctant agreement.

"Alright, I guess we should head out then." She nods farewell to Beard, who wishes you the best of luck. You grab Ice and Dave and head out once more.
Outside, you turn to Kris. "How's Vasa-neesan?"

"She's, uh," a rosy tint lightly colors Kris' cheeks. "Good. She's good. Recovering. She said she'll be ready to travel in the next few days. She said her and," she pauses, her cheeks tint even redder, "her and Viktor can come out and meet up with us. The guys there said they can walk her in." You nod in satisfaction and mount up.

It's a short trip to the burnt-out farmstead. You dismount right at the edge, where you can already feel the sweltering heat passing through the air from the burnt wood.

"Uwaah," Kris fans herself desperately while pulling at her collar. Ice drops from the other side of the tank, keeping eyes and rifle outward. Dave remains seated atop Eliza's turret, watching on in interest.
"This is horrible," Kris moans lightly, "and we're not even in there yet!"
She pops two buttons on her jacket and looks to you. "How d'you want to do this? One of us go in? Two? I think you're going to be best in there, but I guess I can go in." The uncertainty in her voice belies her words.

"I'll go," you tell her. She visibly relaxes. "You guys stay here. Doggy, come." Doggy barks once in acknowledgement and bounds to your side.

With him in tow, you circle all the way around the area. As you circle, you notice there are points where the heat pressure on your face lessens. The heat stops entirely a few feet away from the 'edge' of the farmstead, where the blackened ground becomes fertile green grass. Everywhere else, it's so oppressive you feel like you're stepping next to the open door of a huge oven. After a full loop, you think you've determined the best place to enter the area, where the gap in the heat waves is least. It's on the far side of the farm from the others, but they can still mostly see where you are. You prepare yourself, ready to step through when Doggy steps out ahead of you and wanders straight through a winding path right through the farm. He hops at once point, but otherwise walks in a relatively simple path.
Huh. That could prove useful.

He stops in the middle of the burnt area, and places his paw a few inches above the ground. Then wags his tail, looks to you and barks expectantly. After a moment, you realize his paw isn't above the air, but is actually resting on a distorted space. After a heartbeat though, the distorted space rolls off to one side, and Doggy whines at it without moving.

>[X]Try to follow Doggy's path exactly.

You're pretty sure you memorized the route perfectly, and you take a few steps forward. The heat suddenly begins pressing you on all sides, but it's not so bad that you need to stop. You press on, between your memory and the scuffs in the ash, you're confident in your steps.

Doggy suddenly barks, and you freeze in the spot. He's starting at a spot a few inches in front of your feet. You both stand, perfectly still, for many seconds, before suddenly the ground erupts in a gout of flame.
After the initial shock, you recover and wait a few more seconds for it to die away. When it does, Doggy's frame relaxes and he begins wagging his tail once more. You continue forward until your face hits a wall of heat. You squeal in shock, stepping back instinctively as the pain races through your skin. Doggy makes a gesture, lowering his head and you try it, ducking as you move forward and find the lower space perfectly accommodating.

Finally, you reach the spot where Doggy jumped, and throw yourself through the air to land beside him.
Just in time for the small spacial distortion to roll back to Doggy's feet. He bats it once toward you and your detector suddenly blares its tone, the small red ball materializing before you.

Great, now to get out agai-
"CHIMERA!" Ice's shout from behind Eliza tears your attention from your own situation outwards. At the base of the hill, in the bog, even from here you can make out the form of a huge beast dashing towards you at a terrifying pace.

Eliza's cannon immediately begins rotating her turret, Dave keeping perfectly balanced atop her, and fires her cannon down the hill. The chimera leaps into the air right as the shell lands, easily dodging the explosion and continuing its bounding up the hill. Ice and Kris both open up, letting out a long stream of fire at it, but it continue getting closer by the moment.

"Doggy, quick! We need to get out of here!" He tilts his head at you as you speak, then barks twice before bolting directly for Eliza, breaking to the left for a few paces then leaping through the window of the farm house.

Well, this is going to be interesting to keep up...

You drop to your hands and scrabble after his exact path. Forward, left three paces, up. Over. You land inside the house hot on Doggy's tail, keeping pace as he dodges and weaves between the charred remains of the furniture and out the other side. With a final roll, the two of you burst clear of the anomalous area.
Kris has run dry and is frantically switching magazines. Ice is still firing in accurate bursts. Eliza is tracking the thing but clearly doesn't have a shell ready yet, nor is able to fire at this range.

You pocket the Fireball and pull you leg pistol at the exact moment the monster down the hill leaps twenty feet into the air, screaming down towards you. No-, wait it's going to land on KRIS!

You don't even hesitate. "KRIS LOOK OUT!" She looks up, following your voice prompt. Her eyes stretch wide as she realizes just what is about to happen. But that's okay, because you're already reacting. You smash into her, bowling her over and out the way of the Chimera's descending claws. Fortunately, you also manage to slip cleanly between its implements of death. But not out the way of its bulk. It smashes into you with full force, hurling you backwards.

The gravel path tears through the skin of your face as you tumble to a stop, blood gushing down and stinging your eyes, making it difficult to see.
[Pain Threshold]
You don't even grimace, heaving yourself back to your feet. Apparently the monster didn't expect Kris to have moved either and also took a tumble. It scrambles upright at the same time as you, facing off with you a few feet away. Well within knifing distance.

Behind it, Ice is frantically reloading now and Kris is pulling her rifle up to get a shot out.

See, the tricky thing here, choosing to shoot at it also means that if it doesn't die right away and gets up, it'll pounce us and we'll be defenseless. But if we knife, we'll have a defense in the form of knife and dodging. So it totally makes sense.

With one of your pistols lying on the ground behind you, you opt to draw two blades instead of one pistol. In the fraction of a second it takes you to do so, the beast turns to the attack, roaring as it swipes its claw in what would be a fatal blow if it landed. You jerk back, letting the swipe pass harmlessly past you and lash out with one hand, scraping it across its limb. Your knife comes away clean, and the chimera steps on, swinging at your again. You barely dodge out of the way of this one, and when you do it rears back on its hind legs ready to smash down on you from above.

[ ]Leap in, try to stab its chest.
[ ]Dodge out again, keep evading.

That's an opening to attack, but the fucker's big enough that even if we hit it fatally, the fact that it'd still come crashing down is pretty bad news.

>>33071032
Probably because they don't want to shoot us. And because this is awesome. Don't worry though, we still have one dude just sitting around watching the whole thing who isn't going to risk losing his macguffin.
>>
Why didn't Eliza spray this thing with her machine gun earlier? No ammo?
>>
>>33070927
>[X]Dodge out again, keep evading.

While it's momentarily stationary, you jump back again, giving yourself some space and circling around to its side. It comes crashing down in the spot you just occupied, but you're now on its flank and out of Kris' line of fire. She opens up with a point-blank burst of fully automatic fire, emptying an entire magazine into the thing. It stays prostrate on the ground, paws over both its heads, simply weathering the damage as Ice joins in as well. As soon as Kris runs dry, it pulls itself around to keep its back to Ice while aiming between you and Kris together. Its arms spread wide, it's about to charge you both at once!

>[X]Counter charge! Stab it first!

Before it can take even a single step, you throw yourself forward into its waiting arms. Both knives forward, you thrust as deep as you can into its chest. The beast roars in pain even as it closes its arms around you, claws tearing across your back.

One of its head cranes down to bite at your face, so you smash your forehead into its face instead. It reels back, and you pull one of your knives out while twisting the other, slashing the now-free knife into the second head. With a growl, it tears its hand away, pulling the flesh of your back away as it does so.
You stab once more, into the neck space between the two heads and with a final low grumble, the strength leaves the beast, and it topples forwards, crushing you into the floor.

In the moment of silence that follows, you can hear distant cackling, then Kris' voice. "Loli! Loli, are you okay? Talk to me, Loli! LOLI!"

"I'm, fine," you breath through what little space you have. "Can you get this stinking thing off me?"
