You are Zhu Xing, from the city of Xu Chang. After conquering the city of Jian Ye, Lu Bu declares himself Governor of Yangzhou and plans to conquer the remaining Southlands. You are given command of one expedition to conquer Wang Lang's territory, while Lu Bu moves to subjugate the Bandit King, Yan Baihu and the Shanyue. Character Profile: http://pastebin.com/UTDjnUuXPast threads: http://archive.foolz.us/tg/search/subject/three%20kingdoms%20quest/
The foggy winter of the South passes and warm Spring comes. Lu Bu manages to gather a strong host of troops with his fame and promises of glory to the young men of Jian Ye and the outlying towns and villages. You are paid your salary (+75 gold) and make preparations to march out as Lu Bu hands you half the army to conquer Wang Lang. Before you march out, you decide to check the markets. You have 185 taels of gold on hand, what do you wish to purchase?>Gliding Spear: 100 gold (+2 War)>Reinforced Iron Armor: 150 gold (+2 War)>Rattan Armor: 150 gold (+1 War, Very strong and light against blades and arrows. More injuries from fire however, and you look like a barbarian)>Black Blaze: 100 gold (Horse, slightly fast and strong)>Champion: 150 gold (Horse, +1 Lead, slightly fast and strong)>White Mark 200 (Horse, +1 War, fast and strong)>Family Banner: 100 gold (+2 Pol, People recognize your clan better and your fame grows slight better) >Treaties on the State: 150 gold (+5 Pol) >Art of War: 200 gold (Lea +2, Int +2)>On Stratagems: 150 gold (Int +2)>Trickery and Deceit: 200 gold (10% roll when doing plots and ploys)>Public Works: 100 gold (Pol +1, better city improvement)>Army Banner: 75 gold (Lea +1)>General's Fan: 75 gold (Lea +1)>Silk Robes: 150 gold (+3 Cha) >Gold Medallion: 100 gold (+2 Cha)
>>33052053>>Trickery and Deceit: 200 gold (10% roll when doing plots and ploys)We need this desperately, but goddamn it not enough gold. Buy: >Gliding Spear: 100 gold (+2 War)>Army Banner: 75 gold (Lea +1)
>>33052053>>Silk Robes: 150 gold (+3 Cha)We ideally need to capture the leader or get him to join us.We have high war and lead, cha will help us in our attempts to convince him
>>33052053>Family Banner: 100 goldThe only thing we need right now.
>>33052053>Family Banner: 100 gold (+2 Pol, People recognize your clan better and your fame grows slight better)For Glory
>>33052053>>Gliding Spear: 100 gold (+2 War)Time to finish our war ensemble
>>33052053>>Gliding Spear: 100 gold (+2 War)Pol is the least useful skills and our fame is high enough anyway
>>33052053>Family Banner: 100 gold (+2 Pol, People recognize your clan better and your fame grows slight better)>Army Banner: 75 gold (Lea +1)We need those stats desperatly
>>33052053>>Gliding Spear: 100 gold (+2 War)
>>33052253Leadership, yes. Why do we need Pol again?
>>33052251>Family Banner: 100 goldthis!
>>33052268So we can fall into the multiple attribute dependency trap and be useless at everything.
>>33052053>>Gliding Spear: 100 gold (+2 War)>Army Banner: 75 gold (Lea +1)
>>33052053>>Gliding Spear: 100 gold (+2 War)We're a warrior.
>>33052045>>Silk Robes: 150 gold (+3 Cha)
>>33052053buy reinforced iron armor for 150sell iron armor for 70buy gold medallion we have 5 gold left overThis increases our war and our charisma, makes us die less and is just all around suited to fucking lingqi and fighting which is what we've been trying to do with our character.
>>33052291Yeah, I'm just not seeing why we should buy Family Banner here. (1) We are famous already and it's going to have a marginal benefit. (Check the Pastebin)(2) Pol's our dump stat because it's pretty useless to a fighting general. Charisma's pretty meh as well, but at least it's more useful than Pol.
>>33052316>fucking lingqinot in this lifetime
>>33052282>>33052315Which one are you voting for? We can't buy both.
>>33052313And we use Cha a lot right now>>33052333sorry,really drowsy right now, copied the wrong comment im voting for silk robes,
Supporting this >>33052316
>>33052053>>Silk Robes: 150 gold (+3 Cha)We need char and its our worst stat.
>>33052053>>Gliding Spear: 100 gold (+2 War)None of this CHA horseshit.
>>33052053>>Silk Robes: 150 gold (+3 Cha)Because I really think we shouldn''t buy anything and save money . Alas, anon won't let that fly.
>>33052363We are going on a massive campaign to conquer the South. WAR, INT, and LDR takes priority for me over CHAR bonus. I say we buy CHAR boosters after our we get our bonus from the conquests. Right now, we need to up our chances of a successful conquest.Reminder that we took Jian'ye through INT and not CHAR
>>33052404so instead you pick the worst option. I like it.
>>33052376We need leaders and we need to get the generals and magistrates to capitulate instead of fighting to the death.Imagine our losses if we had to take our current city and kill Taisi Ci.
>>33052053>Gliding Spear: 100 gold (+2 War)
>>33052329We should probably stop trying to go after her, every time we try we embarrass ourselves.Plus it effectively takes away two potential political marriages for Lu Bu's group
>>33052416Just love making you mad.
>>33052439>implying i didn't vote for the robesI'm here for suffering and failure, anon.
>>33052425That was an INT ploy, not a CHAR check.
>>33052413Yes, by a choice of options. One of the options to let the leader to suspect Taisi Ci was a cha option. And now that Raian is no longer having the stat affecting the option be shown, we might choose a cha option
>>33052430I doubt Lingqi would allow herself to be married off for political reasons and Lu Bu is like the biggest pushover ever when it comes to her.
>>33052430Indeed, we need to start sucking Chen Gong's cock in a non-figurative way.
>>33052430Telling /tg/ to give up on their waifu is a futile effort.
>>33052413We don't have to conquer the South we can try to peacfully Annex through diplomacy while sending Lu bu to wreck shit up Cao Cao's way.
>>33052473A false letter ploy.We won't always have the opportunity for this.Likely, it will be a face to face meeting where it will becoming an int+cha or cha+pol check.
>>33052503Oh god, are you the idiots that were voting for letting go the guy talking shit to us last thread? Being proven objectively wrong once was not enough for you?
Selling a previous item will be at 50% price. Otherwise you'd be able to buy whatever you want, sell, and buy something else without consequence.Gliding Spear is bought as it has most votes. -100 gold, 85 left. Do you wish to buy anything else or move on? Note that gold isn't only just for items; you can use it to bribe people, and situation events may come when you may want to use it.
>>33052476The choices are pretty obvious though.>>33052503That's dumb. This is a military conquest, we aren't going to be a diplomancer in the Three Kingdoms warlords era. Also, why would we attack Cao Cao? Yuan Shu is a better target. We don't even share a border with Cao Cao. It's Liu Bei, Yuan Shu, and Liu Biao that we share borders.
>>33052519Hes partially right.Sun Ce used force and then got foes to capitulate as much as possible so as to add their troops to his.Diplomacy is an option that should be used.
>>33052519punishing offenses to your honor =/= Making vassal statesNot even one of those guys but what the fuck are you on about?>>33052533Lets move on.
>>33052519>>33052545Fine you want to be revilled as Brutes go ahead.
>>33052564Sun Ce used force first, and then use diplomacy from a position of power. We aren't going to just convince people to give up their power bases without force. We have to negotiate from a position of power for these targets since they have to be completely subordinate to us. This province is our power base, we need tight control.Diplomancy like with Liu Biao? Yes, that's great, but with weak targets, we need to show them our power first.
>>33052576>brutesNigga, we have 68 int, better than our leadership
>>33052533buy the army banner, lead will be useful for the upcoming battles and it sounds cool
>>33052565I'm on about people trying to cripple the character by raising all our stats to mediocre rather than, for example, taking war to a level where we stand a fighting chance against Lu Bu and working on leadership or int from there to be a fighting general.
>>33052610Yes we do.And we already have very strong war and decent lead.We needed to boost the cha stat for the coming dialogues so a bad roll doesnt screw us over.
>>33052533Raian, shouldn't our WAR be at 89?Gliding spear was +2 WAR, not +1 WAR. Unless I'm missing something here.
>>33052639Honestly, we're pretty damn good with War, and since we're pretty much the main field thinker, it helps to balance out Lu Bu's wrecking ball state.
>>33052639Allright acceptable for the moment, but after this campaign can we start raising our other attributes so they are not mediocre?
>>33052533Raian, heads up. In the store, gliding spear is listed as +2 war. On the character sheet, +1 war.
>>33052661We don't have a very strong war stat.Play ROTK, anyone worthy of note is literally 90+.>>33052685We should focus INT if anything, pol can remain terrible.
>>33052678We're clearly still weaker than Taishi Ci, Zhuang Liao and Lingqi. We need to address that first, since it's the core of this character.
>>33052617and that means jack shit if we are going to Ravage the as of now untouched south, remember that up till now the fighting has taken place in northern china, If we do go fighting in the south we will be making more enemies than we need to and prolonging this conflict.Better to bring friends to the table than enemies anyway & any that refuse can be killed by our good friend Lu Bu.
>>33052685Well need cha and int definitely.Pol we can push on the backburner.>>33052703Still overkill compared to whoever we're going up against now.We have time to bring it up but the negotiations for this campaign are going to happen without a chance to bring them up.
>>33052639Then make that argument instead of spouting off some bullshit like you diplomacy doesn't work because it's notable era of war. That doesn't even make the smallest amount of sense and you sound like an idiot.Fucking wannabe smart guys on the internet. I don't even.
>>33052731>Still overkill compared to whoever we're going up against now.Not really.Taishi Ci we literally fought last session.
>>33052721>muh benevolenceshu pls go and die in a hole like you're good at
>>33052661CHAR is fine, but not now. Our conquest will involve primarily conquest, and the three main stats for that are INT, LDR, and WAR. In-town management is definitely focused on INT and CHAR, but that's not going to be for sometime. I won't support pushing up POL. We can't focus on all the stats and POL is for our advisers and brother.
After buying your new spear, you bid farewell to your family and ask Zhu Yang to take care of things while you are gone. You make your way to the southern gate of Jian Ye, where the army host has been gathered and split in to two divisions. On the southwestern side, you can see Zhang Liao, Lu Lingqi, Gao Shun, and Song Xian waiting ahead of the army, while Lu Bu and the rest of the other officers are at the other side. You have a chance to talk with one of the other army's entourage before leaving; do you choose to do so?>Go to your army and start marching>Go speak with Lu Bu or one of his members first (choose)
>>33052721Even peaceful annexation was a dream for Liu Bei.We have to conquer, that's a fact.
>>33052762>Benevolence>Not Pragmatismsure bud whatever, continue to enforce the Idea that Lu Bu & all who follow him are nothing but Brutish warlords that live for blood.
>>33052721The South hasn't been untouched. There's been frequent raiding by the barbarians and there's a lot of independent warlords and Yuan Shu being Yuan Shu. If anything, unifying the South will bring the common people peace in the long run. We need to fight in the South because we don't have a powerbase. We pacify the South because it belongs to us.Our friends are other warlords with power, not inconsequential insects.
>>33052780>>Go speak with Lu Bu and his officersWish them good hunting and the best of luck.Offer our respects to each officer, even down to the lieutenants.
>>33052780>Go speak with Lu Bu or one of his members first (choose)"Lu Bu! Let us spar next time we meet! I'll make sure I hit you at least once!"
>>33052780>>Go speak with Lu Bu or one of his members first (choose)Gao ShunI know I'm going to be outvoted but goddamn it I'm going for it
>>33052780Go speak with Taishi Ci.
>>33052828Why Gao Shun?
>>33052811>You may have one blade, one spear, one ranged weapon, and one horse; having more of the same type of item listed will not stack. Other items of the same type not listed may be stackedWe have Whispering Blade and Gliding Spear. Those stack as you can see in the Pastebin
>>33052828Anon.You will be outvoted because Gao Shun is riding with us.
>>33052780>Go speak with Lu BuMay he bring swift destruction to his enemies.
>>33052849Oops, my zeal for Gao Shun overtook my reading comprehension. Apologies. >>33052780>Go speak with Lu Bu or one of his members first (choose)Lu Bu I suppose then, not in the mood for a long conversation with Taishi Ci
>>33052780Listen up you shufags, we're going to talk to Taishi Ci before we march.
>>33052780>>Go speak with Lu Bu or one of his members first (Lu Bu)Tell Lu Bu that if he finds someone really strong to try and recruit the. NOT just cut their heads off.
>>33052821Seconding this.Recently caught up on this (and just started playing RoTK XI) so I'm pretty excited for this quest. Keep up the good work Raian.
>>33052917>>33052821This combined with >>33052824 with >>33052913
>>33052780>>33052821Supporting this. Will save us time and it's a good gesture
>>33052913This combined with >>33052821
>>33052950>save us timeI don't think you understand what giving respects to every officer above lieutenant entails, anon.
>>33052780>>33052877Changing my vote to>>33052821
>>33052913Don't say that to Lu Bu. ESPECIALLY INFRONT OF THE ARMY.We'll be putting him down.Give that advice to Zhang Liao to relay to Lu Bu when the time comes.
>>33052964I get the feeling this is one of those people calling everything sycophantic last thread being ironic and it blowing up in their face.
>>33052964I meant quest time, I didn't want to get into a multi-choice conversation with an officer before we left. >>33052993Zhang Liao is our deputy commander, anon. You mean Taishi Ci?
>>33052993Zhang Liao is with us though, but yeah I agree just talk to Lu Bu and wish him luck/glory
>>33053014>Zhang Liao is our deputy commander, anon. You mean Taishi Ci?My bad, anon. Yes.
>>33052993I figured it's implied that anything we say would be put tactfully. Then again I can totally see Raian playing it strait and then saying it's our fault even though he knows no one meant it to go that way.
>>33053078>Expecting a GM to do work for you
Raian, get a twitter!
>>33053119No, it's more expecting a GM to not try and actively fuck you.
>>33053141I feel your pain.>mfw I got in and we just charged uphill at an entrance army
>>33053119Not to go down this path of discussion but hes already converting our options into outcomes.Converting them with a positive spin or converting them with a negative spin, either way hes still taking what we say and making a story out of it.I mean i don't think we should have to write "With utmost respect..." before every. single. option to avoid pissing people off.
>>33053178Not really. It's expecting a GM to work for you, read your mind, and make everything work well with minimal input from our end
>>33053119>do work for youWay I usually do it is if it's not in quotes the tone fit's into what would usually be expected for the conversation. A QM who doesn't is most likely a shiteater.
>>33053178Nah, what we want to do is an objective. How we do it is a plan, and for that, we need to write it out.Hell, otherwise at the meeting we could have just chosen, 'calm lingqi down'
>>33053200>read your mindOther way around, anon. We can only guess what the GM is thinking, as thread 3 demonstrated.
>>33053195He always announces the next thread time at the end of the thread. He hasn't been off so far.
>>33053200When there are probably 10-20 people all floating options around in multiple different manners you can't exactly create an eloquent even handed response given three 10 line options dude.
>>33053226Even though multiple people in the thread guessed what has happened?
>>33053227People forgot. A twitter notification popping up is very helpful.
>>33053247Yes, those hypothetical people that don't actually exist as shown by the votes being near unanimous.
Given your friendship with Lu Bu, and that he has even trusted you in command of the other expedition force, you think it is only obvious courtesy you should go see him off and wish him well. You whip the reins of your horse, and move toward Lu Bu who is at the helm of his force.Lu Bu is donned in fine and new polished armor that gleams in the sun. It seems that now he has become a lord and has even taken the title of Governor, he is keen on presentations. With his strong stature and smile, he does look powerful and commanding. The phoenix headdress that he always wears is still on his head; likely a habit he will not give up.He turns to with a bigger grin when you arrive."Zhu Xing," he says with a good gesture. "Should you not be preparing to march out?""I only came to wish you the best of luck in your endeavors," you reply with a smile and bow. "You will be facing numerous foes and enemies.""Bah, they are nothing to me and my elite cavalry," Lu Bu responds with a dismissive wave of his hand. "And I have Chen Gong with me should anything go wrong. Once we conquer the Southlands, we shall have a drink together Zhu Xing. I will give you command of a city and your own authority to raise armies. Soon enough, the entire world will be trembling at our might.""You humble me with your generosity," you say with a nod. "Take care, Zhu Xing. And mind that damn daughter of mine doesn't bring trouble to the rest of the army."With that, Lu Bu raises his hand for his army to start moving. Chen Gong and Taishi Ci nod to you as they march off along with Lu Bu. You head back to your own command where the other generals are."Well, you certainly took your time," Lingqi says with a frown as you trot your horse in front of your force. How do you respond?>Explain you only wanted to wish Lu Bu farewell>Shrug the remark off and tell her Lu Bu has high expectations of her>Just ignore her
>>33053324>>Shrug the remark off and tell her Lu Bu has high expectations of her
>>33053324>My friend is worth every second of my time. On that note however, my friend also has high expectations of you, his daughter
>>33053324>Shrug the remark off and tell her Lu Bu has high expectations of hercombine with >>33053355 prehaps as a casual remark.
>>33053324Wait, Lu Bu is the commander?Who decided that?
>>33053324>dWe're going to be spending weeks together. A few minutes to wish a friend good luck doesn't seem extravagant to me.
>>33053383You would deny Lu Bu command of the force?
>Explain you only wanted to wish Lu Bu farewellBasically, tell her her father is like a brother to us so its only right to see him off.she already know what people expect of her, no need to rub it off.
>>33053383Lu Bu did.You know, the head of his faction and our boss?
>>33053324shrug the remark off and tell her Lu Bu has high expectations of her
>>33053417>>33053409Why is he head of the faction?Goddamn, that's a stupid move. At very least it should be Cheng Gong/Us/Lu bu
>>33053383Lu Bu of course, are you gonna argue with him?>>33053324>Shrug the remark off and tell her Lu Bu has high expectations of her
>>33053417Also the guy with plans so catastrophically bad they lead to instant defeat. Hopefully Chen Gong will be able to babysit him in our place.
>>33053324I think what we should do is shurg the remark off and tell her Lub Bu has high expectations of her
>>33053431Considering he could squash us like a bug, hes in command.Plus, with him in direct control hes less likely to get bored and turn on us for sport like hes prone to.
>>33053431Lu Bu is the head. For all strategic purposes, he defers to our judgement until he gets drunk or too headstrong.
>>33053431What? We've been Lu Bu's subordinate for basically forever. The hierarchy was always established to be 1. Lu Bu 2. Us. Chen Gong is an adviser and outside of the military hierarchy.
>>33053453>Considering he could squash us like a bug,We've actually sparred with him, and we ended up as equals.>hes less likely to get bored and turn on us for sport like hes prone to.He's never been prone to that. We're also like Liu Bei to Guan Yu with him.
>>33053440That's why Chen Gong insisted on going with Lu Bu. It's also why we sent Taishi Ci with him
>>33053480With good rolls.
>>33053480>You are sweating, and short of breath. Lu Bu only drops a bead of sweat, but otherwise, his condition is much better than your own. You did well, but if this had been in a real duel, you would have been too tired to continue and surely killed. Yeah, that's not true.
>>33053480>ended up as equals.I'm not sure what spar you're remembering, but it sure as fuck wasn't the one where he broke two of our spears and had us completely winded while barely breaking a sweat.
>>33053480>We've actually sparred with him, and we ended up as equals.Because we picked counters. In that fight, we rolled shit and even then Lu Bu dominated us physically. He'd wreck us in a real fight.
>>33053487Whenever lu bu leaves, he needs to have Chen Gong and either Taishi Ci or Zhang Liao with him.
>>33053480>We've actually sparred with him, and we ended up as equals.Socially? yes Martially? Hell fucking no.
>>33053480Raian said that Taishi Ci and Zhang Liao are slightly stronger than us. Lu Bu is stronger than Taishi Ci, you see where I'm going with this?
>>33053514>>33053511Of course. But it's more about appearances. We were equal due to no one landing a hit, this is also reflected in how Lu Bu views us.We're a capable warrior in his eyes, not a weakling. Which is why he wouldn't turn on us like that.>>33053531We're about 10-15 stat away from him in war.
>>33053550We're 15 away. At a minimum, since Lu Bu probably breaks the 100 stat cap.
>>33053550If we relegated him and took command, especially with him viewing himself as stronger, which he undoubtedly does, he would betray us. Hence why he is in command.
>>33053480>He's never been prone to that. We're also like Liu Bei to Guan Yu with him.I hope you are saying that we are Guan Yu to his Liu Bei and not the other way around. It would still be a poor analogy, but Lu Bu has never indicated that we are superior or even his equal. Zhu Xing and Lu Bu are good friends and he respects us as a warrior, but Zhu Xing is clearly the subordinate here. The best subordinate, but not equal.
>>33053579Lu Bu in XI goes for 105 with his base equipment.>>33053584It's more about us sharing command rather than just fully under him.
>>33053550>We're about 10-15 stat away from him in war. That's pretty massive since we are already at the high end of WAR. >>33053584It's not betraying. He would be well within his rights as our lord to have us punished for insubordination if he pleases.
>>33053625Im saying, if we were the top dog, he would undoubtedly betray us for being weak and just subsume command.
>>33053602Lu Bu's the general in chief, he can do what he wishes and as long as we serve under him, we are nominally bound by him.The keyword is under. But honestly, we are going to be leading independent armies most of the time anyway. Lu Bu trusts us to carry out independent campaigns just like we are doing anywayThis is a moot issue as long as Lu Bu is surrounded by capable advisers when he's leading an army.
>>33053669Problem: Lu Bu's downfall resided around him IGNORING his advisers.
>>33053669And kept away from the fucking wine
>>33053683So we arrange some trust falls and slumber parties, make him trust everyone around him, keep him out of desperate situations as much as possible, and hope for the best.
>>33053683Which is why we surround him with capable warriors and intelligent advisers. Lu Bu is liable to ignore eggheads but he's less likely to ignore advise from warriors he respects. Zhang Liao, Taishi Ci, and us are the three that he respects right now. Also because he was never in that strong of a position honestly
>>33053738I wonder if he'd get along with Zhuge Liang.
>>33053738Also... We need to keep on an extended war footing.Too much peacetime makes him more likely to get drunk.
>>33053743If by 'get along' you mean 'impale on his spear and use as a warning to others', then yes.
>>33053762Actually yes, you're right. In the siege just before his downfall he started drinking and eating massively and became ill because of it.>>33053769A dude with 100 INT should at least be able to keep the peace between the two.
>>33053762We're in the south so we can sick him on bandits if worst comes to worst.
>>33053769Lu Meng might be more his style
>>33053789We could just organize extravagant training sessions with other commanders.
>>33053789Or barbarians. Seriously internal issues were always a thing in the Three Kingdoms
>>33053762I say send him raiding North especially if one side gets the upperhand against the other.the Two forces up north are Yuan shao & Cao cao right?
>>33053355Seconding this, but maybe with more polite tone"My friend is worth every second of my time, He is wishing you the best of fight and have high expectation of you My Lady"SNIDE REMARKS ONLY WORKS ON MODERN GIRLS GUISE
>>33053324>Shrug the remark off and tell her Lu Bu has high expectations of her
>>33053827Gongsun Zan is still around, is he not?
>>33053827We should focus on Yuan Shu first, as well as Liu Bei's inevitable turning on his family
>>33053827There's 5 I think. Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Yuan Shao, Gongsung Zan, and the 4 Prick Generals (to Northwest)But they are not our immediate neighbors, except for Liu Bei in Xu
>>33053851We're going to be dealing with the Sun family before any of those.
>>33053835I'm with this anon
>>330538514 prick generals are gonna be the first to get got if all goes well in this thread. That way we should be able to reclaim the emperor and have a stronger right to exist / Liu Bei alliance.
>>33053846Yuan Shu is really the only logical route after our Southern Conquests.Liu Biao is our ally so we can't go there. Our remaining two neighbors are Liu Bei or Yuan Shu. Liu Bei only holds half of Xu and it would put us into conflict with a powerful Cao Cao too soon. Yuan Shu holds rich lands and would give us the power to match Cao Cao
>>33053431He's been the head of the faction from the start. It makes sense in some ways seeing as he's the really famous one
>>33053835>"My friend is worth every second of my time, Reposting my replyHe is wishing you the best of fight and have high expectation of you My Lady"SNIDE REMARKS ONLY WORKS ON MODERN GIRLS GUISE
>>33053835Lingqi is a strong independent women who doesn't need no man.Seriously, she's so anachronistic it hurts.
We really need a map.
You glance at Lingqi, and simply return a smile at her remark. It seems clear that there is a hint of jealousy from her that you are getting so well along with Lu Bu. Despite her abstinent refusal to listen to Lu Bu back at Chang An, it's certainly clear she holds her dear father in high regard.“The Governor just wished to say a few remarks of you before you we departed,” you reply.“Hmm? What did he say?” Lingqi responds with a slightly surprised look.“That he holds high expectations for you and hopes you do well in this campaign,” you respond slyly. “I hope to see you fare well in our future battles as well. As the Governor's daughter, you are an integral part of our force for now and the future.”“I... I see,” Lingqi says with a nod, appeased, and then with a smile. “Give me opportunities, Zhu Xing, and I will not disappoint.”You nod, and turn your horse to begin the march. Zhang Liao has the slightest of smirks on his side, knowing full-well the way in which Lingqi was appeased. It seems you relationship with Lingqi has improved.
>>33053842>>33053846>>33053851I think we need a map with details of each Factions current holdings.regardless if we send Lu bu raiding it will help prolong the northern conflict and gives us time to prepare and get our shit together regardless of if we peacefully or forcefully annex the north.
You take a look at your army. A lot of your men are well-trained and veterans from the previous battles; though there are some new recruits in your ranks who need experience. Your supplies are currently plentiful, with a thousand more bushels added from when you spent time gathering supplies before you took Jian Ye. You can always wait for more supplies from Jian Ye and Yan Jun, but that may take some time and you need to halt the army to guard supply lines,Looking at the territory you have to take, you expect that this campaign could last a year or so. The enemy has a couple thousand troops guarding the towns and villages while ten thousand troops guard the city of Hui Ji which is your main objective. Wang Lang is unaware of your attack force currently, so you have the advantage of taking his territory and guard forces before he marches out his main force. Taking too long may mean Wang Lang gathers more of his troops together, but marching too quickly may also mean tiring your army out and not taking more firm control of the territories you hold. You need to decide and balance things out well.>Troops: 7000>Equipment: 2000 horses, 5 Catapults, 3 Ballista, 3 Siege Rams>Food: 4000 >Morale: Average>Fatigue: Low(Troops will eat Troop#/10 a month. So in this case, 700 units of supplies a month)In any case, you begin your march. Your army travels at a steady pace for a week before you finally encounter the first small town at the distance. You send a scout out, who checks the area and informs you the town is being guarded by a thousand troops and is lightly defended. How do you do your attack?>Blitz in quickly and take the town>Siege the town with your weapons and fire catapults from a distance
>>33053919> Based Raian
>>33053939>>Blitz in quickly and take the townSmall town and lightly defended, let's quickly take this town before they know what hit them.

>>33054005> Taking too long may mean Wang Lang gathers more of his troops together

>>33054184Come on, anon. We'll try to recruit survivors after the battle and we will obviously minimize damage to the peasantry since they are our economic base. We are not losing the element of surprise by asking them to surrender before the battle. That's counter-productive.
>>33054184This is a REALLY stupid idea.Absolutely no one defects in ROTK unless they've been friends for absolutely years. And even then you need gold, time, and be in a FAR more suitable position than the enemy.

>>33054136Hmm... if we make it look like a bandit attack that could work., though they'd need to do more than taunt. Will it be more beneficial than charging at them before their defenses are set though? They'll likely only send out about half of their force leaving the other half to defend. Unless there are too many men in the distraction force that is, at which point they won't leave and just turtle up and send out a rider for reinforcements.
>>33054240Fuck them up to the point where they don't want to fight anymore. Out of 1000 i'd imagine with 600-700 dead the remaining 300 would be quite interested in whatever option doesn't lead to them dying the fastest.
Fine fine I will stop trying.
>>33054184Guy that suggested Diplomacy before, now is not the time for Diplomacy or half actions.
>>33054253Indeed.We have two options though:We recruit the survivors, then embed them individually in individual units.Spread them out so that they'll be less able to do rubbish. >>33054264probably even less than that honestly. Once the initial shock of the attack passes and they realize they're heavily outnumbered they will likely surrender even if they've only suffered a few hundred casualties. Depends on who's in command.

Should we delegate the charge to anyone by the way? Like >>33053973 suggested or someone else?
Speaking of overcoming troop numbers, we should start thinking about the terrain a bit.Flood attacks were superb in nearly every situation, but especially sieges.Utilizing boulders is great against an advancing foe, which we could use to our advantage if the enemy tries to hunt us.And last of all, Fire attacks are useful in sieges, ship battles, destroying enemy supplies, the list goes on.Troop tactics is another point, pincer attacks were wide spread and used massively, most likely due to the effects on enemy morale.Considering we have 2000 cavalry, I suggest we use their mobility to our advantage to start using pincer attacks.Using the Ballista and Catapults for ambushes would also be a good idea, however that would require some exceptional circumstances.
>>33054401I still say we collect kettles from every village we conquer.Grand General of Flying Kettles.
You order your forces to go in battle formation and spread your troops to attack from all sides. Your men move quickly and silently, and when you give the signal, they all charge forward. The enemy is caught unaware. Only a few men can go atop the walls and fire arrows before ladders are placed and your troops start climbing in. Song Xian orders covering fire with the archers, and in a quick fashion, your infantry are in the walls mowing the enemy down. About an hour in to the fight, Zhang Liao and Lingqi with a squad of men manage to open the gates to the town. Gao Shun and yourself, leading the cavalry, charge through the gates and rout the remaining enemy troops. The battle is quickly over and the town taken with minor casualties. As you take control of the city, Song Xian remarks how he is happy to soon take the spoils of war from the town. However, the remark troubles you and you think taking from the populace might not be a good idea...>Let your troops take some spoils, but make sure they don't take too much and commit murder/rape>Command your troops no looting whatsoever may take place>Appease your men with your own money(Roll 1d100, best of three first)

Restraining our troops to only taking a little is probably the best choice. We have a small reputation as an honorable general and it'd be good to uphold that but we can't stone wall the troops from plunder either. Drawing a line in the sand for murder and rape is probably the best compromise until we get a corp of truly loyal followers.

>>33054632>Liu Bei's son was a retard.Liu Shan knew when to give up. I'd say he knew what he was doing.
>>33054658Shu doesn't exist yet. One of Liu Biao's sons helped Liu Bei, the other surrendered to Cao Cao. Liu is a family related to the Han emperor (the Han emperor at the current time is a Liu - I believe Liu Bei is a distant uncle)
>>33054632I like to think that in reality it wasn't Liu Chan that brought down Shu, but Jiang Wei's constant Northern Campaigns that drained the countries resources.
I trust our own troops to limit their destruction.Assuming it all goes well, I say we should do this before we leave:We find a condemned prisoner from the jails, gag him, tie him up, cover his face with a black bag and dress him in our army's uniform. We present this man to the cities' assembled populace and our armies as a man of our force who raped and slaughtered. We then kill him ourselves infront of them as a warning.
>>33054690So we're still in a better place in terms of diplomacy between Shu / Liu Bei than just being some rampaging warlord given that we're still loyal to the Han.Or is the Han fully imploded by the time Shu / Wu / Wei show up?
>>33054658Shu doesn't exist, and won't until Cao Pi is made Emperor. Lie bei protests by naming himself Emperor of the Han, and Sun Quan eventually gets into the act as well.Liu Bei attacks and takes over the lands of Liu Biao before this cause >muh benevolence.
>>33054658Jesus no. Shu doesn't exist yet and it probably won't in this timeline. Liu Biao is part of the Imperial Clan, the Emperor's last name is Liu as well. Liu Bei claims to be the Imperial Uncle, i.e. a distance relative. There's a good chance he made that shit up to gain legitimacy and political backing. Liu Bei is famous for stealing land from his own "clansmen". From Liu Biao's descendents and from Liu Zhang of Yi province.
>>33054658Shu isn't really a thing yet IIRC. The seeds are there but Liu Bei hasn't come into enough power or recognition to make Shu into the force it later becomes.
>>33054722I don't know about that. If our own trips heard and genuinely believed such a thing occurred I don't think it would work out well
>>33054548This. Completely backing this.
>>33054696I like Jiang Wei, but the man did not know when to fold them. Seriously. By the time you hit your 'Seventh Northern Campaign', it's time to give it the fuck up.Liu Shan was known for being a little too trusting, though, and his advisors too timid. Still, I don't think he was wrong to surrender to Wei, because honestly by that time the Han was long dead, Shu had next to no chance, and ending the chaos was the most humane thing to do.>>33054735By the time they were fully established the Han had basically disintegrated. Cao Wei was actually founded by Cao Pi - Cao Cao maintained his position as a minister over the Emperor, who he held captive, much like Dong Zhuo (he was much cleverer about it, though - he observed all official respects and treated the Emperor very well, but it was all a show to keep him from protesting his treatment and making Cao Cao seem like a rebel)
>>33054737That's a terrible plan and you should feel like an idiot for even suggesting it.
>>33054751Wu might not become a thing in this game if we can hold off Sun Ce's eventual invasion. Or rather we are the Wu of this game.
>>33054751>the force it later becomes.Guys stuck with the poorest provinces fruitlessly bashing their heads against the walls of Wei over and over again?
>>33054751You know, we are stomping out the seeds pretty fast. Liu Bei maintained political relevancy in part because he was a valuable tool for Cao Cao in his battle with Lu Bu in the Northern Plains. There's really nothing stopping Cao Cao from rolling up the rest of Xu Province, taking out Liu Bei, and consolidating his gains.
>>33054761>if our own TROOPS

You tell Song Xian to inform the troops that they make take some spoils, but murder and rape will be strictly outlawed and punishable by death. You inform him the looting should be done only in small amounts and the army should not take everything away from the peasants. He nods, and carries out the order. The populace is slightly grumbling, and it's obvious they don't appreciate your force. However, no riots or the like will likely happen. You order your men to rest until the morrow, where after then you may decide to march out or stay at the town to gather strength and control of the town.As the day turns orange and in to evening, you spot Gao Shun standing guard near the gate with his arms crossed, and his large body upright. You walk up to Gao Shun, and place a hand on his shoulder with a smile. Gao Shun bows to you when he turns to see who you are."General," you begin. "You did superbly in battle. I commend you being able to swiftly taking the enemy with the cavalry. I would like to thank you for your efforts today, and Lord Lu Bu will surely raise your status once this campaign is over."Gao Shun simply bows again."Tell me, why do you stand guard here while the other rests? You should take a break for the day and feast with the other men. Though I commend you for standing guard, even now."Gao Shun shakes his head."The town is taken, but law and order must be maintained by our troops. If the leaders are resting and feasting, it will set a bad example for the rest of the men," he replies"Hmm," you reply with a nod. "I have also heard that you refrained from taking anything. Tell me, what do you think of the decision I made? I would like to hear your advice."Gao Shun makes a slight frown. You are taking a bit of time with all your remarks and questions, and he seems he just wants to simply return to his duties."It is... not my place to question the decision of those in command. But I do not believe troops should be stealing from the populace. They are paid for by the government and authority, and do not need any riches beyond what they are given. An army that would riot from being withheld profits is an undisciplined mass and obviously holds no true loyalty or honor. A true leader can lead men, even when he makes decisions that may not always sound right by his men."You nod, seeing Gao Shun's viewpoint, though you may not necessarily fully agree with it. You bid him farewell as you depart to rest.Morning comes. Our army might be an undisciplined mass that holds no true loyalty or honor for all we know. What's important is that we preserve morale until we get to the big battle. >>33055613Because acquiring more soldiers against an army that nearly doubles ours is a bad idea.
>>33055539Since Gao Shun didn't participate in the looting, wouldn't it be best to have him help repair the city? It's likely a Pol action which we're garbage at. Instead we should be recruiting people ourselves, so they can see who they serve first thing.
>>33055591The practial side of me says march but reading this makes me want us to stay and have all those who looted help restore the town, till fields etc. Say that if they are to be paid by the town it is only fair they do work for the town.
>>33055511>March outWe're not likely to have any volunteers here and helping out after looting seems it won't achieve much at the cost of time.
>>33055667Gao shun to help, we, lingqi and zhang liao call for volunteers?
>>33055658Here's what's actually going to happen - we waste time dicking around in a nameless, worthless village and give the enemy troops time to both hear of our arrival and assemble. So our next fight is super hard, we lose and lingqi thinks we're a horrible person.
>>33055618Then recruit some troops at a town we didn't loot. Press our advantage while we can, regroup and recruit after we gain some material advantages. This is how blitzkrieg works. We have to destroy as much of Wang's troops and authority while we have the element of surprise. We recruit AFTER they hole up like rats.
>>33055658More than that, we could risk running out of food without their help/ if they cut off our supply lines

>>33055732>no wrong or trap optionsHAHAHAHAHAHAAH
Could we leave 1.9k men / Gao Shun to recruit and repair while the bulk of our forces continue the crusade?I mean if we leave him for 3-7 days that's really not that much lag time while we go on ahead. Even if we come against equal amounts of soldiers we can try using some tactics on them, or even just wait till our remaining and possibly bolstered troops meet up with us?
>>33055690They have the superior numbers, if we fly around like this we'll lose the numbers advantage, the food, and support of the people.Meanwhile, he'll come out of the castle with half of his troops and squash us since we're so weak.
>>33055754He has superior global numbers, we have superior local numbers. You're trying to make sure we have superior nothing because you have a boner for Shu.
>>33055754Their troops are scattered, and we need to destroy them before they unite. They have 10,000 troops in the city alone, but they have thousands outside in towns and villages. We can recruit after we destroy elements while they are easy picking and not holed up in a castle.
>>33055746Leave with him a guard contingent of 1k men?And to leave to join us in a week or two?
>>33055746Our enemy has 10,000 men BEFORE he goes on high alert and brings all his forces to his capital.
>>33055771No, I simply want to recruit some troops to make up for our losses, and improve our image.Meanwhile, due to the extended nature of the campaign, this shouldn't be too much of a problem.
>>33055798>thinking the early stages aren't the most vitalI'm so happy I'm not in any sort of military situation with you commanding.
>>33055774But then we have to go back to all of the villages to gain any sort of number. And with our already low food, that means we can't expect any more numbers.
>Having weak supply lines>Not having any public supportI sure hope you guys don't do this
>>33055798You are thinking it the wrong way.It might be an extended campaign, but think of what phase of the campaign we are on. We are blitz and annihilating the scattered enemy before they regroup and reunite under city walls. Only after a successful blitz should we consolidate our gains and recruit since that's when we'll enter into siege and wait mode.
>>33055798If we lose the momentum & surprise we already have we are thoroughly up shit creek.
>>33055819We need a sustainable war, not blitzkrieg. If we have hugely superior numbers, I would agree with you. However, we need to snowball towards the enemy, not allow them to chip us down.
>>33055832err, won't the guy just march out with his superior army and swat us down either way?why would he ever allow himself to be besieged?
>>33055820If the enemy is behind city walls, then we have control over the towns and cities. We can secure supply and troops after that. Suppose we recruit 2000 troops. We have 8000, great. But let's say 2000 troops escaped behind enemy city walls. Remember we need 3 to 1 force advantage to take cities. Every enemy troop behind city wall is worth 3 on the field. We need to take them out while they are on the field.
>>33055863Because our troops will be veteran by the time we get to his castle, and we'll control all of his outlying settlements.
>>33055828Why does this sound like a raian hint
>>33055832>>33055854Unlike in our times, it will take months for this to even reach the ears of the castle. We're hundreds of miles away from the castle, and remember back when our castle was sieged? It took 3 days for word to even get to us, we can spare 3 days to sure up our numbers.
We need to seize the imitative and continue on to the next force. During these early stages momentum is important, but so is securing your supply line. Leaving Gao Shun to secure our supply train wouldn't be a bad idea so long as he had the chops for it and he didn't feel it was a slight. We certainly could use a logistics guy to help with this shit.Whether we leave anyone behind or not though we need to keep moving.
Okay lets analyze this from the ground up shall we?1. Our opponet still hasn't realize our invasion yet2. We are outnumbered quite significantly3. We are good for 5.5 months top looking at our foodHints from Raian: We cna blitz, but overexterting will tire our soldiersOptions:1. March out ASAPBenefit: element of surpriseRisk: Fatigue, losing local supports, risky supply line2. Steady invasionBenefit: might swell our numbers, secure supply lineRisk: losing element of surprise, counter attack is possible by enemy, faction leader disastified3. Scorched Earth PolicyBenefit: Unlimited supplyRisk: resented by populace4. Encirclement by conquering hinterland firstBenefit: Tremendous siege advantage, might swell troops number, might starve defendersRisk: Counter attack is a real possibility, Lu Bu is pissed we are taking too long
>>33055863That's what Wang thought to do against Sun Ce. Sun Ce kicked his ass because Wang's generals were shit and his troops were shit and they had to flee behind the walls.
>>33055886Because someone read the thread where he outed himself and is deliberately trying to sound like him to ruse us.
>>33055886Because it is a Raian hint. We're being fucking retarded, this is the sort of action Lu Bu would take.
>>33055828You're either Raian telling us not to fuck up.Or some dude pretending to be Raian telling us to fuck up.Either way i think we should bolster our supply lines and maintain public support, like he said this is a year long campaign, its not like hes going to be able to instantly recall all of his troops.Also.Can we try set up ambushes between the main city and outlying villages? That way, when and if they start getting recalled to the 10k troops we can slaughter them before they get entrenched?
>>33055886Because it's the same format as his one before we got ran out of the Imperial city.Doesn't prove anything though.
>>33055895Look, I'm fine with leaving like 500 guys, but let Song Xian do it. Gao Shun leads our fucking cavalry, we need him with our main force.
>>33055892Yes & by the time this does reach their ears we could have marched halfway to the capital or anywhere in between.
>>33055882> controlWhen we dont have popular support and dont leave garrison troops
Leaving Gap Shun to manage the city and the supply lines therein isn't a bad idea, but there is probably a more prosperous or strategic place to do so. If we want to seize control without choking on that 10,000 man garrison, we are going to need a proper fort of our own to operate out of, like a second capital. Our aggressive manouvers will smash his smaller garrisons, and his inferior commanders can be outfought if he wants a pitched battle outside his castle. Fear will bottle him up while we seize the land, and more importantly the loyalty of the peasants.
>>33055931Smashing every force we run into and acting like we own the place leads people to believe we own the place. This isn't 1960's vietnam.
>>33055828Exactly. We need to cover our ass. Surprise will only last for so long even if we go balls to the wall. We should capitalize on it while we can but we need to secure our supply line and keep the towns we conquer from turning on us (assisting the enemy or just letting them take the town back for example).
>>33055960Yes but this is a land war in Asia
>Leaving Gao Shun of the Ambushers to be a garrison officer instead of a scrub Lt.Fucking disgusting
>>33055899Aaaand everybody is ignoring me, I am sad now
>>33055511>Gather volunteer soldiers>Help the people of the village for a while, get some support
>>33055899Look, only 1 and 2 are real options here.3 and 4 are policies that adopted along with 1 or 2.Most of 1 supporters want to blitz then switch to 4 once the survivors make it to the wall.
>>33055511>>33055742 Changing my vote to >Help the people of the village for 2 weeksBlitzkreig only worked because there was a good supply chain. We do not have that advantage, and we can use this village as our beachhead. If we must move out, then have one of the commanders stay behind repairing and recruiting troops for 2 weeks with a contingent of 1000 troops before meeting back up with us around the 3 or 4th city.
>>33056006Yeah you are correct, I am pretty ambivalent here, I seriously think Raian is trapping us at the moment
>>33056012Christ, we're a 7000 man army with supplies on hand. Our supply chain is about a mile long, and we can forage for more. We're not getting constant shipments from our capital.
>>33056028I think everyone is too afraid of making a bad choice, when both seem pretty average choices to be honest.
>>33056028We are trapping ourselves
>>33056012We have food supply for 5.5 months. That's not a ton, but it's not like we'll be running out of food anytime soon.A 2 month campaign should wipe out most of the enemy outside of the walls. We can easily get more supply after that. We have 3.5 month cushion, so we won't be desperate. If Wang decides to challenge us on the field, we'll Sun Ce his ass.
>>33056052Yes, inside a pointless village because >muh benevolence
We should continue the blitz to more outlying villages, leave a small contingent behind, with a Liuetenant, or someone small time who can come back and join up with us later on.
>>33056050The safe option is steady invasion in my opinion, it is also seriously hinted by Raian that in his first postBut high risk = high revenue is always true
You decide to march out, hoping to keep the element of surprise still intact and conquer as much territory as possible before Wang Lang is notified. You quickly gather your troops and send a letter to Yan Jun to send a few scores of men to keep the town occupied.Your men travel quickly, and by a week long, you encounter the local forces that have heard of your recent exploits and met to fight you. They are 2500 strong, led by Fan Neng and Yu Mi. The battlefield is flat grasslands."Rebels and bandits!" Fan Neng calls out to your troops. >>33056118Thank you based anon. Anons, this is Best of 3 situation because we hold the military advantage, don't fucking panic. >Roll 1d100, best of three.
>>33056079>>Challenge the enemy to a duel (Choose)We'll fight.Lingqi likes strong guys and we haven't had a duel since thread 2.
We shouldn't worry too much about recruitment now. It's more mouths to feed too early on to get use out of them. The scum outnumber is in quantity, but never in quality. We can beat them in a straight fight, even outnumbered. We don't even need to storm the castle really, just let them starve. We should work on supplies now, and hope the civil focus earns us fertile recruiting grounds when we need them.
And no, I'm not posting as anonymous. The one doing it is probably the same guy still upset about weeks ago.Again, there is no trap option nor do I make one option entirely screw everything over. If you think I'm deliberately trying to fuck you over, which again, is ridiculously dumb you think I'm running this quest to be a simple sadist, then you're better off not playing. Send me your best man so that I may take his head as a offering to my lord!"Fan Neng is a general, so he absolutely refuses to come out. Remember, Strike > Slash > Sweep > Strike. War and equipment determines damage. You have 100 HP. You order your men to form ranks. You place Yu Mi's helmet at the top of a flag pole to humiliate the enemy. With Zhang Liao commanding the center, Lingqi commanding the left, and Song Xian the right, the army moves forward and crashes in to the enemy. A few hours of fighting, and the enemy begin to retreat. If they appear on the field of battle again, they'll be executed immediately. We don't want unwilling or untrustworthy soldiers with us, it just eats up our grain and is a liability in major battles.
>>33057770Add in that we will also accept surrender by runner if they surrender during the bombardment.Delicious psychological warefare.

>>33057826>We will easily lose several hundred men. And for what? 3 days gain? When we need to rest our troops anyway?Wisdom
>>33057826>And for what? 3 days gain?Where the fuck did you pull that number from? we can easily gain a week from crushing this garrison that we outnumber 6 to 1
Given our earlier conversation with Linqi, we look for an opportunity to have our duel an enemy officer.
You place your siege catapults and ballistas at the front, and begin to fire at the enemy garrison. Lobs of rocks and flamed oiled barrels are launched, while you take the time to get your men some rest. Every so often screams are heard from the enemy garrison as your artillery manages to hit some scores of troops hiding behind the walls. A few days of this continues, and your men begin to hurt insults at the garrison. Enemy morale seems at an all-time low, and you decide to send a letter to demand surrender from the enemy.Roll1d100, best of three.
>>33057849The loss is too big if we dont soften it first
>>33057640>>33057826We outnumber them, we've beaten them in every single engagement thus far, and our name should be very familiar with the people behind the walls.Offering surrender first and waiting a few hours before commencing the assault would be the best course of action.

Those will die.
>>33057900Its not uncommon in that Era
>>33057882Way to save our ass. It's no 'letter such that he shall die', but I bet the enemy regrets accepting that challenge. We've got to have pummeled their morale pretty hard.

A rider is sent out to deliver your letter to the enemy, and he successfully does so. A few hours after, the gates of the garrison are opened up and Fan Neng comes forward to speak with you.Fan Neng asks that he and and his men be spared and allowed to return home, unharassed, with their belongings intact besides their weapons and armor. You easily agree to this, and Fan Neng surrenders the garrison. You ask the man if he wishes to join your ranks, and after a few moments, agrees but on a condition."I will join your force and fight your future battles. But what small remaining honor I have dictates that I cannot fight my own liege lord. I will give you information about these lands, but I will not engage in direct battle against Lord Wang Lang."You also agree to this, and Fan Neng joins your force. Treating him well with some food, you spend a day at the garrison before you bring Fan Neng to you and ask him for his promised information."Hui Ji is still far away, and it must only be now that Wang Lang has been informed of your attack. He is not a good general, and he will likely slowly march out only after he takes some time to prepare. General Zhou Xin has a few thousand men under his command, and he is about a month's travel away. The people of the Southlands have long been accustomed to peace, even more so with Lord Wang Lang who allied himself with the Shanyue so that they would not raid the lands. I think it would be wise to keep them content and happy."You nod at the information. You look at the territory you have conquered so far, which amounts to about 20% of lands captured. What should you do now?>Spend some time conquering more territory (Choose how long)>Return to town and focus on gathering troops/support>March to attack Zhou Xin now
>>33058404Attack Zhou Xin. Cut him down, then gather troops to assault Wang Lang.
Rolled 9>>33058404>Ask Fan Neng"Will Zhou Xin ride out to engage us now or wait for his liege lord?"
>>33058404>>March to attack Zhou Xin nowWe have to make all the pawns fall down/join us before taking on the Wang.
>>33058404>>March to attack Zhou Xin nowWe have enough food to last 5 months, this gives us 1 more offensive. We should crush Zhou Xin and then consolidate our forces and gather food.
>>33058404>March to attack Zhou Xin nowwe can end this now
Rolled 3>>33058404Raian, what is the condition of our troops?
>>33058425My reasoning being that, with all the great lords defeated and Wang Lang alone, it will be easier to demand the surrender of the territories. We've proven their current administration is unable to handle an outside threat, and Wang Lang is left isolated from not only troops but popular support.
>>33058404>March to attack Zhou Xin nowLet Wang Lang's army fragment itself into digestible chunks.
What is the Fatigue stat? if we are not fatigued, we need to strike Zhou Xin
>>33058404>>Return to town and focus on gathering troops/supportWe will need number to take a city.
>>33058404Okay first>March to attack Zhou Xin nowBut I just wanted to add:>The people of the Southlands have long been accustomed to peace, even more so with Lord Wang Lang who allied himself with the Shanyue so that they would not raid the lands. I think it would be wise to keep them content and happy."This is key, we should restrain our troops from most looting unless situations change. Our troops are at high moral, it will be even higher with another victory. We have solidified our command over the army, so that shouldn't be an issue for now. There will also be plenty of loot once we capture the big city, we should focus on maintaining support of the towns while we recruit and restablish our supply line after we take out Zhou Xin.
>>33058456No, Zhou Xin is still only a sideshow compared to the major fight, but knocking him out before he can consolidate his forces is definitely preferable.I think putting some distance between us and the capital is a good idea for another reason though, in that wang lang will march to follow us and engage. A siege where the defenders outnumber us isn't a good thing. Out in the field, however, we have all sorts of chances to break his forces.
>>33058503If we crush his general one by one, he might surrender
Rolled 4>>33058404Can we also issue the call to gather volunteer fighters from the defeated enemy? We can promise employment to them and this will help bolster our numbers.
>>33058500Regardless we should strike at Zhou Xin simply because he is the Lynchpin for an organised resistance
>>33058515No but he is a rallying point to which enemy resistance can rally too, removing him will both demoralise and destabilize the resistance on our campaign.
>>33058404What exactly do we gain from choosing the first option?
>>33058523>>33058523>>33058528If I remember correctly, Zhou Xin was the most competent of Wang Lang's generals. Not a badass or particularly brilliant, but removing him from the equation will hurt Wang Lang a lot.An incompetent leading an army without capable advisors? It's time for Wang Lang to be in our shoes.
>>33058567More territories means more base of operation, foraging source, mustering centres
Rolled 16>>33058578Also a larger area to defend.
>The people of the Southlands have long been accustomed to peace, even more so with Lord Wang Lang who allied himself with the Shanyue so that they would not raid the lands. I think it would be wise to keep them content and happy. This is probably something to keep note of. We should come up with a plan in regards to pacifying the area as suggested. Hell it would be interesting to set Fan Neng to the task of looking after the locals but that has more risks involved than we should probably take. Now may be a good time to hold council with our generals and get their input.
>>33058566Wang Lang still has 10k troops under his command. Zhou Xin is one of his border generals. He is a rallying point, yes, but even after we beat him our hardest fight is still ahead.
>>33058571>It's time for Wang Lang to be in our shoes. You, I like you
>>33058586Yeah, more manpower to maintain too
Rolled 18>>33058571Hes a good administrator though. It'll be in best interest to bring him under our heel.
>>33058593Yes & if Zhou Xin who is a relatively competent general get a hold of them It becomes much difficulty to fight this campaign than if an Incompetent or a Brute was leading them.
>>33058571>It's time for Wang Lang to be in our shoesWe are enlightened when we cast off suffering. Unfortunately for them, we have a target to dump it on.SUCK IT WANG. WELCOME TO THE TEN STAR CLUB.
>>33058593We know that he won't march out with all 10k troops. He won't leave the city ungarrisoned since we could easily take it in his absence. We also know the Wang Lang is incompetent and that we've been taking out his generals one by one, so we'll have superior leadership. It also means that our ploys have a higher chance of working on him, which could help neutralize the number disadvantage. So I agree it will be the hardest fight yet, but the actual siege will be most costly I think.
>>33058404>>March to attack Zhou Xin nowAlso seconding >>33058430
>>33058635Also if we kill Wang Lang now, his granddaughter won't exist so that's a thing.
>>33058698That's only if he dosen't have kids already. If he does then no worries.
So the important question here is - Zhang Liao or Lingqi for dueling with Zhou Xin?
>>33058749One is bromance, othe ris waifu romancesuch is life in Three Kingdoms
Rolled 6I have a big question and flashing red light on the plan.We took one week to travel to the battle with Fan Neng and Yu Mi. Another pursuing them, and half doing the siege.Assuming that the battle against the first city already sent a runner for help and that Wang Lang is now recieving word of the attack, he is 2 and a half weeks travel away by horse.Considering that Zhou Xin is a months travel away, exactly how much further away is Wang Lang's main fortresses?Because that seems abit close for comfort to me.
>>33058749Lingqi since Zhang Liao will be busy organizing our troops for an immediate attack after the duel. I also doubt Zhou Xin will accept the duel, it's more likely one of his subordinates will.
>>33058749Lingqi we owe her a duel
>>33058760>Hui Ji is still far away, and it must only be now that Wang Lang has been informed of your attack. He is not a good general, and he will likely slowly march out only after he takes some time to prepareI think we will be okay. The closer Wang Lang get to our territories, the better. This way we can cut down more of them before they can escape to their walls.
>>33058749Romance aside, Lu Bu will be happier if his daughter gains some glory.
>>33058784That is true, we do said that Linqi will need to gain more fame to him no?
You decide the time is now to strike at Zhou Xin. Though he is still far away and not fully conquering the outlying territories may mean an improper supply line, you still have a sizable supply backup, especially with the time you spent gathering supplies beforehand. You give the order to march, and make your men go at a steady quick pace. You manage to encounter Zhou Xin's army after about a month's travel as Fan Neng informed you of. Zhou Xin has his force aligned on small hills, and it seems he has taken the defensive. He has about 3000 men under his command. They are being cautious, and your duel requests are refused. Fan Neng tells you it is likely that Wang Lang will reach here in about two weeks or so.What do you choose to do?>Form your ranks, attack the enemy in a brisk charge (Choose how many days of attacking)>Attempt a night raid>Attempt a fire attack at their camps>Attempt to taunt the enemy this time for another duel (Choose who goes out, and Zhou Xin will send a champion, not duel himself)Roll 1d100. >>33058800>Attempt to taunt the enemy this time for another duel (Choose who goes out, and Zhou Xin will send a champion, not duel himself)Lingqi. We need to break their morale asap and this seems like the quickest way.
>>33058800> 66 scoreBrisk charge and end his resistance at once sounds good, but if Wang Lang is sallying forth to meet us, we might need to preserve more troops...I am torn in between charging or taunting...night attack is not bad either> Though he is still far away and not fully conquering the outlying territories may mean an improper supply line, you still have a sizable supply backup, especially with the time you spent gathering supplies beforehandwell thats a non-issue then ?
