Previously: Cerulean arrived upon a mysterious island after a mission to rescue shipwrecked personnel had gone awry due to mysterious humanoid monsters.

Meeting the natives, Cerulean found aid in the form of a humanoid monster by the name of Kurojo, a tusked Kahkori of Kakarkiko island.

With his and his uncle's help, she had been reunited with Marine, her friend from training and childhood.

After killing a fierce foe reviled by Kahkori, Cerulean fell ill, and was given a cure by Kurojo. In the village, she learned of a strange ability and found herself able to utilize "Aura."

Journeying with Kurojo, Cerulean and Marine make it to the joint city of races amongst the island chain. It is there in Raguna city that she fights to the death with a rambunctious Smolderan.
Slipping out of her right mind, she executes her foe with absolute certainty, earning her some recognition with a Smolderan leader and the right to engage in a hunting exam at his request.

Cerulran takes a test with another species known as the Araraki, an infallibly polite and timid representative of her people.
Upon completing the hunt, they are put through a naming ceremony and engage in some festivities, taking a somewhat heavier turn as Akabaron, Vi-Smohkan of the Smolderan, goes over his deal with Cerulean.

Charter the construction of a boat with Kurojo's aid...

The ranks on Frost Wave and Icicle Gun are wrong.

FW should be 5 and IG should be 4.5
>>
>>33050068
How did we end up with a half-levelled skill?
>>
>>33050068
Fixed.
>>33050105
Averages.
>>
>>33050105
Combo skills have a rank equal to the average of the skills that make up the combo.

Ice Ball was unlocked through roleplay, so it got 0.5. It's even shittier than the rank 1 version, but we could use it.
>>
>>33050133

My mistake on the rules. Thank you.
>>
>>33050133
would we pay 1 point for level 1 or do we skip that and do 2 points for level 2?
>>
>>33050188
Probably would have to pay 1 for rank 1.
>>
A scream is heard in the dark of the woods, the sunken blade slowly losing its silver power to the embrace of the earth as its edge sinks deeper. Pressing your back to the smooth dirty surface of a boulder you edge around the corner as a silver shadow darts across your vision, triggering a series of reflexive shots from you.

The sound of ice plowing into uncaring wood is all you hear as you blink away darkness to see the twinkling of your icicles amidst a stream of moonlight. Darn it. You hit it before. You know you hit it before. Why can't you hit it again?
Your hair stands on end, as far as it will with your new, slickened coat anyway, heart beating a million miles a minute as you check back around the stone, finding Kurojo slouched against a rock, holding a broken longsword that's lost its shine, clutching at his shoulder piteously, he takes haggard, rasping breathes.

Your pupils dilate stretching to take it all in and you squeeze at your chest with your own inner turmoil. “Jojo's hurt!” You call out in the common tongue, in fact begging that Nala tells you what to do, lest you your body move to action before your mind wills it.
How dearly you want to help him... If he gets attacked again by the beast...

“Cover your eyes!” Nala roars as she leaps upon one of the stones, her green armor baking at the joints with red fire. Her inner heat struggling to escape.
You turn away from her and cover your vision to spare what'll come next, and you can feel the others do the same. Kurojo in his injured struggle, Marine as she grasps for hay at what to do against such a monster.

For a moment, the edges of your vision are painted red and yellow as your commander defaults to the plan B. You uncover an eye, and keep the other pressed shut as you find that all shadows have been terminated, a black monster fleeing through the forest like a streak of oiled lightning.
>>
Your dynamic vision captures the creature's form in detail. It's much like the Nar-Kage.. Only it's bigger, with ghastly white eyes, though it may only be from the flare. Its mouth terminates into a fanged black beak, A set of three blades sprout from powerful, yet lean forearms, it's chest is like a barrel however, supporting the mosnter's malicious killing strokes, it's here that three icicles protude from its breast.
Those must be the shots from when it was using that strange light attack.
Its tail almost appears to be like a flower, less a club and more a piece of decoration at the end of a long flexible serpent. The whole thing however is easily around ten meters long, with at least three to four meters equating to tail.
The creature melds into a spot of blackness, vanishing utterly and completely to elude eyesight.

You begin to take a breath of relief, startled when Nala roars, “It will only last so long! Take the bird and go! We're falling back!”

“But we win!” Marine backtalks in her newfound broken speak.

Nala snarls as she leaps down from the rock, toting her slab of metal, bent, dented, and cracked from the monster's persistent attacks. One more and it may just crumble away to dust in her claws.
“We have an injured, and one missing. We get him to safety while we have this time!”

“Yes ma'am!” You call out and sprint over to where Kurojo is, your new legs carrying you with the speed of the wind, a dip down, and you grab the lost length of blade from the ground as you pass, it's the length of your forearm, a whole third of his blade.
As you close in, you see the extent of the damage his right arm still grips his sword, though the arm won't raise. And his left hand holds shut a wound that goes deep into his shoulder, a crimson tide seeping from the wound in rivulets, dripping upon the ground and watering the earth.

As he holds it together, you can feel the relief in his aura to see you rush to his side.
“Ceru. I-”
>>
You slide in beside him and shush him as you assess the damage. The cut goes deep into his shoulder, any lower and he would've lost and arm and likely a lung. Any higher and he would've lost his head. As it is though, he's bleeding out and his right arm... it's useless. You blink back tears, and give him a tender touch as Nala and Marine take your rear, guarding the flanks, he winces.

“How bad is it?” The Smolder's voice bears a tinge of concern, though nonsofar as you would expect of her kind.

“Deep cut to his shoulder ma'am. He needs treatment, his arm...”

Kurojo swallows and tries to get up, struggling against your hold, “It's fine... I'm fine.”

“It's a clean cut. If we treat it, he won't lose it.” You say and he relaxes, you begin to put pressure on the injury, the blood seeping out around your claws, “But he's losing blood... He's losing a lot.” You say with a whimper, dreading your options.

“The flare will die soon. We need to stop the bleeding and move him.”

Marine raises her hand,”Oh, Ultramarine can move him!”

“That'll leave me and White to watch for the beast...” Nala puts a thoughtful armored claw to the chin of her grin armor, “Though if the best is set on coming for him, we could set a trap instead... “

Kurojo's eyes focus on Nala through the pain and the delirium of blood loss, “We could still.. kill it?”

It's pretty plan that we don't really have what it takes to fight this. We're in over our head.

Not using him directly as bait, but we could at least plan for if it goes after him there.
>>
>>33050310
>[] Freeze Kurojo's wound.
We should be able to wrap this up before the frostbite becomes too much of an issue, and cauterizing it just means it'll be a total pain in the ass to heal when we get back.

>[] (other)

Not liking the idea of using him as bait, and hiding him in the capsite is basically using him as bait since it knows where the campsite is, how it's laid out, and it can probably smell the blood on him. Going back to town is only going to lure the beast there, and also is as not-elite as it gets.

Maybe if we just keep him nearby on full-detect duty (in case it reveals itself for whatever reason, I won't pretend to know why it might), as he is able without killing himself? As long as he's conscious he can still contribute..
>>
>>33050475
Would freezing his wound cause other problems though? Ice in his blood or something like that?

That's really the only thing keeping me from voting for it.
>>
I don't think hiding him in the campsite will work, pretty sure it could sniff him out

Bait might go terribly depending on rolls

Running back to the village is playing it safest for Jojo but we might lose the Narga Kage.
>>
>>33050539
I think at this point we can safely say we're not killing it.
We probably overestimated how well we could fight when taking this mission, though it was predictable because we're trying to get an armor set.
>>
>>33050514
Yes. If an ice crystal gets into his bloodstream, it could result in an aneurysm, fuck up his heart, slice blood vessels, or even cause a stroke if things go really badly.
>>
>>33050514
Hmmm, hey Prof, just how much control do we have over how this ice works out? Like would it just be like freezing the wound solid and hoping for the best, or could we drip our water onto him and freeze it into something like an ice-sheath around the cut to keep it from getting worse but really only putting the chill to the wound itself to prevent ice from being forced into his bloodstream, as is the current worry.
>>
cauterization is probably the way to go.

its main function is to stop blood loss and he'd get a cool scar out of it.
>>
>>33050310
Cauterize and retreat for now.
>>
>>33050310
>>[] Cauterize the wound.
Freezing would do more damage than cautery.
>[] Hurry Kurojo back to the village for safety.
We need to fall back for now. This shit is a bit serious.
>>
>>33050310
>[x](other)

Call out to the araki with our plans, once they're made. If she's still alive, she'll hear.
>>
the beast might single out and follow jojo to the village
>>
>>33050626
Ceru could go with cold to constrict the blood vessels and an ice sheath to poultice the wound.
It's valid and wouldn't leave a scar, though it would weaken him a bit more.

To tell more about his injury, the cut goes right through the bone of his shoulder and under his collarbone. He has barely any faculty left at all with his right arm from this wound. it's treatable due to the nature of metahuman physiology, but it's not getting better in the very near future.

>>33050475
Detect doesn't work on the Narga-Kage.
>>
>>33050745
In which case, it would be following across an ocean and into the base of all the hunters around.
even it couldn't survive that, and probably would sense not to anyways.
>>
>>33050777
>though it would weaken him a bit more.

permanently or just during the period of recuperation?
>>
>>33050310
>>[] Freeze Kurojo's wound.

>>[] Use Kurojo as bait to finish off the monster.

The highest risk, the highest reward.

Or we could try shooting it in the eyes while it's visible.
>>
>>33050806
There's a village on this very island. It's not terribly far from the camp.

>>33050809
For the first aid primarily. Like hiker in the mountains, it'd be cold.
>>
>>33050809
I think he means bring him closer to death.
though cauterizing would probably do similar.

>>33050310
>[] Freeze Kurojo's wound.
>[] Hurry Kurojo back to the village for safety.
I maintain we don't have the strength to beat this thing without unreasonable risk to lives.
kurojo's down, the lizard is gone, and Nala's switchaxe is about to break.
>>
>>33050777
Can we track the scent of burnt fur and feathers?
>>
>>33050777
Well, that's not actually so bad. I didn't expect him to be anything more than dead weight anyways.

I still say we get to the village, but I worry about the araki. We have no method of really finding it.
>>
>>33050777
I like the idea of that for "freezing" it then.

Still, we can't really just use him as bait, and drawing the creature to the village is exactly what they have this camp out here to PREVENT.

>>33050959
What we really need is to get in contact with our missing member though, I mean, as it stands, there are really two-ish possibilities, the one where it was eaten by this thing before it attacked us in the first place, and the one where it's hanging out preparing a brilliant move to give us the time we need of it in one place to put the kill to it.

I'm leaning toward the former unfortunately, since this thing is way more tricky then we expected, but on the off chance it's not, I guess we could try calling out to the darkness for our reptillian friend?
>>
IMO

if bait, cauterize is best option

if village, then freeze
>>
Leading in votes is to cauterize the wound.

>>
>>33051114

Good point, what does JOJO think we should do regarding retreat/hide/bait? It seems kind of rude to just go over his head and decide without even his input.
>>
>>33051138
yeah, I'm less opposed to freezing now. It works way different than I thought.
>>
>>33051114
On a common sense check, retreat works better. We're down over half our team effectively, with the switchaxe pretty much useless now.

>>33051192
Also this.
>>
>>33051195
>>33051114
Yeah, freezing doesn't have the main, lethal, risk that it was thought to have, and if we're taking him for proper treatment, then a short freeze works better.

Cold, then run. We get Kurojo to safety then reorient. It's not worth risking his life, he's our friend, guide and, on an impartial note, translator.
Plus he'll probably be a more diplomatic representative for the metahumans if he reaches the Dome alive.
>>
>>33051114
Bait
>>
>>33051432
It was literally just pointed out that we have significantly more to lose than a party member if things go bad doing that.
And even if we do succeed in baiting the Nar-Kage, he might just die anyways from not getting proper treatment.

just popping in.

Our best bet is for the Araraki to pop in as we retreat, using all of us as bait.

>Retreat, Marine carries Jojo
>Icicles and plant manipulation to slow it down as it comes
>Araraki interrupts
>Nala deals the heavy hit.

This, however, entirely hinges on the Araraki knowing the plan
>>
>>33051753

This, however, entirely hinges on the Araraki not being dead.
>>
>>33051753
We have no idea what Araraki is doing though. It could be planning something that will save us if we work right, or it could be leading the Nar-Kage itself (however implausible that is)

However, planning a running fight works as well anyhow.
>>
You dress Kurojo's wound, applying a nourishing chill that seeps through his feathers and into the separated flesh. He lets out a shivering sigh through his beak as you make your work quick, hushing him, and reassuring him through the process. The blood ceases leaking and you judge him in the clear- for now.

Nala snorts, flame slipping through the nostrils of her helm. The blinding light of her flare is beginning to die and already a predatory shadow begins to press on. You turn to see the black beast's abyssal eyes slip around the great trees, staying cautiously to the shadows before becoming one with them again.

“Too far to spit fire at.” A low rumble in Nala's throat as she growls. A shift in her position as she keeps her slab of metal forward like a shield, a fragile bulwark. “Have you decided?”

“I-” You begin, yet Kurojo puts a hand- his good hand upon your shoulder as he leans up.

“Use me as bait. Kill the thing.” He hisses low, words full of spite, despite the cold feverish chill gripping his body, forcing his feathers damp and clammy.
“We can hit it... when it attacks.” He steadies himself against the stone, leaning back with labored breathing, “It needs to... appear before it strikes.”

It dawns on you then, that's when you hit it. When it was firing off that weird energy. That's when you can attack it!

“I can feel it out there...” Marine whispers to herself in your tongue, her body trembling. “Is Kurojo sure?”

But... You look over Kurojo, feeling how faint he is as compared to normal. That blade cut him deep. It cut through him. If it's like this. “Jojo. Are you sure, you could...”

The birdman nods, “We took this request... If we fail... Others will die.”
>>
“Well said.” Nala stabs the crumbling iron into the ground, the frail thing holds together despite countless cracks and scratches. She takes a look back at the shadows moving among the woods and spits out flame, driving them back, they recoil in watchful terror. It remembers that first hit...
“The thing is scared, cautious like any predator. If we run now it could end up hunting us, flaying us like damned fish.” She squats down before Kurojo, her armored body an ominous presence as she eyes the bird with her warm glowing eyes.

“Je reap chakuen ojur des lan vize des driens. In your tongue it means: I rip each day from life's maw with my own claw.” Nala looks back to Marine and fires a gout of flame to startle the bold shadow as the flare continues to flicker out of existence by the moment.

“If we do this, we do this right.” Nala turns her head up, and roars out into the forest,” Do you hear this you cowardly Araraki!? We mean to bait this beast! Join us or forever be known by Nala as a coward! I know the marks of your mask!”

Your gut sinks, is the Araraki really hiding? Did she really abandon you all? That thought...

Frost over the areas other than the trapped rock.

We can't sense Narga, so we should zone it, predict where it will strike or force it to go to a certain area and start swinging before we know it's there. Our only advantage is that the arm blades can only be swung in one way. If he uses the tail slam, there's a good chance the trap will break, otherwise we get to cut the tail.

Course, tail slam at any time will kill Jojo as he is now...
>>
“We should move Kurojo to the rock with the mine and pretend to leave.” You say aloud, turning to look at Nala only after you've retold your plan. Her eyes burn with a malicious delight as she hefts her blade up from the earth, throwing the piece of scrap over her shoulder, adjusting naturally to the weight.

“Leave the bird the cat says, it'll make the prey come out.” She snickers-you think. Jojo groans in mutual agonies as she slides into a defenseive position, keeping her eyes on the beast lurking at the edge of light. “Ultramarine, put him by the rock.”

“Aye, Ma'am!” Marine responds and picks up Kurojo carefully, his left hand replacing his right upon his blade.

Set forth in perfect view from the trapped standing stone, you look back at Kurojo with a heavy heart as you use him as bait. You aren't sure why, but the words escape you before you realize you've said them,”Goodbye Kurojo.”

He closes his eyes, leaning back against another rock. At first you don't think he's going to respond, but- “I trust you.”
>>
Your lips quiver and you can't help but to frown, the trembling precursor to tears. No time for that though.

You hit surrounding stones with water and frost it over, running away quickly, and hiding just out of sight, Kurojo the only one in any sort of plain sight.

You can feel Marine's concern resonate with yours. If this fails... you could lose him. And you'll be next.

The flare slowly peters out and you close your eyes to give your nightvision a head start. Slowly, the purple flicker amongst your closed eyes turns to a bitch black and once more you open your eyes to the world of night once more.

Jojo's groans are the only sound in the wood now, all the other little life have vacated the battle area, wary of a superior predator's battle.

It's all you can do to hold still, to not look and give the plan away. Jojo's the one that's sitting there. Alone and waiting.

With the darkness of the night return, the shadows seem to move again, with every gust of wind a miniature voice of terror brushes across the folds of your mind.

The biggest issue is reacting in time.
The beast is fast.

Can we get any continued light to help us react faster?

You hold steady, trembling out hushed breath as another gust blows the remains of your once long hair, buffeting it with its ominous presence. You constrict your guns, increase the pressure and ready yourself for a rapid series of shots. Kurojo's life is literally hanging on your performance, the weight of a friend in your claws...
But are you strong enough?

For a time, you hear only silence save for the wind. You take the time to sense Kurojo's aura. When it spikes, you'll know he sees the beast... Or... When it's snuffed out...

Jojo's feelings spike, and you jolt around guns ready right as the trap springs much to the monster's surprise as its maw is open ad alight. You see it burst, insects shooting out and forming a minute perimeter around the monster's feet, sparks crackling the air with their electric power.

Yet, that luminous blast is still set to annihilate Jojo. There's no time, and you're the first to react... What do you do?

Running at full speed, you track your guns upon its head, the luminous spectre of death trained upon your friend. You drive as fast as your feet will and you fire your water at the monster's head, sending jet-black drills through the night, to stab into its face with force. It shifts away slightly, yet its light is still set on Kurojo.
Not enough power- you think as you put yourself in the way of the blast.

“Ceru!” Jojo cries out, struggling up to reach you, yet he seems so slow.

You open your maw as the beast's blast erupts from its own, and you meet it midway with your own winter's roar as it explodes from your jaw, frosting the air and driving forward in a flurry of frozen powders as the jungle's humidity is swept away.

As the explosion of light connects with your breath of frozen dust, the wood explodes into a thousand colors, dazzling everywhere. A flash, for a mere second and you see stars.

You're knocked back, and you don't feel anything for a moment, nor can you see anything.

You hear an explosion, yet it sounds like it's a million miles away. There's fire at the edge of your vision, and a meteor streaks through the air, tackling a black thing caged by lightning.

Pain explodes into your senses like a beast that had been tethered only by paper. Your body aches, and your insides feel wrong, something drips from your nose, and your right arm's been shredded raw and broken, the nature of the blast leaving you with a multiple fracture.

Your left arm, and chest are spared from the damage due to your armor, but you can feel what the concussive force did to you through the membrane of your stomach. Every breath is labored and pained.

Your vision returns and you see darkness and burning light wrestle with each other, a whirling cacphony as the monster tries to rid itself of Nala's molten assault.
>>
The Smolder assaults the beast, slashing at it with burning claws, driving it wildly into a tree as it attempts to smash her off. Marine swings her frozen kanabo at the things head at a pause due to the powerful static laboring its movements and fractures its beak, yet still the thing does not make a sound, not a single peep.

You fall to your knees and catch yourself with your unbroken left, hacking up a spattering of blood, tears filling your eyes. You need to move, you need to help... Yet as much as you will your body to move, you just can't get it to motivate.

Your vision flickers again and you feel a familiar slipping away..

It's proof that you don't bother reading anything people say.
>>
>>33055807
ctrl+s, Professor.
>>
Biting back your tears, you feel let the taste of cold copper drip from your mouth. You push up with your good arm to stand, wobbling to your feet. You feel something move to touch you and you look down to see Kurojo on his stomach, having crawled over to you.

“Ceru... You're hurt... They've got it.”

In your delirious pain, you smile at him, blood leaking from your arm, slowly freezing over. It won't do anything about the bones in your arm, but it'll do.

“It's okay Kurojo...” You wobble upon unsteady feet, your eyelids heavy as you slip away, “Ceru's going to sleep now... The other girl can take care of it...”

“Ceru?” Jojo's voice is so very far away as you close your eyes.

The other girl opens her eyes. She looks down and sees a monster holding her leg, and she trains her remaining gun on it. The target recoils in bewildered terror, its eyes going wide...
>>
>>33055848
>Nar-kage
>Murder
And we did work with him during that fight.
>>
>>33055911
>The other girl opens her eyes. She looks down and sees a monster holding her leg, and she trains her remaining gun on it.
fuck
>>
>>33055911
>The other girl opens her eyes. She looks down and sees a monster holding her leg, and she trains her remaining gun on it. The target recoils in bewildered terror, its eyes going wide...
See, this is why we said it was a bad idea.
>>
>>33055943
No one said that? In fact, no one even thought that.
>>
>>33055911
god damn it guys...
>>
>>33055911
Oh come on, that's our teammate.
You said it was about combat/nocombat.
>>
>>33055964
The idea that we would auto-kill our allies was the main objection.

But people were all "that's retarded, why would you make your soldiers attack their allies when they go berserk"

Obviously we were conditioned to only see other modded humans as allies.
>>
pls snap out of it
>>
>>33055911
Target 1: Nargacuga
TARGET 1: NARGACUGA
FIRST PRIORITY TARGET: NARGACUGA
>>
>>33055911
That's bullshit. We fought alongside him in rocket mode before and didn't auto-target him, the only reason to do it now is pointless drama.

ESPECIALLY since there is a much larger monster to go fight right in front of us.
>>
>>33055923
We had to roll against rocket mode to do that.
>>
>>33055993
Or just use aura or our sense of smell to calculate that he's an ally.
>>
>>33055973
It feels weird to point out, but rocket mode was likely designed with a "humanity fuck yeah!" law to it.

Any "allies" we have outside the dome are just monsters as far as our training is concerned, not actual companions.
>>
>>33055991
See
>>33054974

>>33056007
No we didn't.

I'm calling baby back bullshit.

>>33056010
probably already rolled, and failed.
wonder how we're going to deal with explaining all of this to marine and nala.
>>
>>33056019
Technically, Kurojo is probably MORE human than certain rangers. Like Jamie or Koga.
>>
>The other girl opens her eyes. She looks down and sees a monster holding her leg, and she trains her remaining gun on it. The target recoils in bewildered terror, its eyes going wide..

...Gonna be awhile before I back Rocket mode
>>
>>33055911
D= ! Friendly Fire while near Nala is not good, she'll murder the shit out of us!
>>
>>33056019
Nah. We worked together with Kurojo before too.
>>
>>33056040
Too busy contemplating suicide for that.

>>33056048
Why the fuck did you back it at the first place? Like why the hell did everyone vote for it? Did they not think Nala and ULTRAMarine could finish the job?
>>
>>33056043
We -know- he's a monster though. Like we -know- Jamie and Koga are human.

>>33055911
Burn Tenacity to snap out of it!
>>
>>33056007
No we didn't.

Here's the thread.

Show me where it is because I didn't see it.
>>
>>33056043
>>33055911
This too. It's not like he even looks that different from some rangers. From US even, now that our face has started to go cat.
>>
>>33056076
No we don't. We KNOW he's human. That's what the Indigo Reports taught us. He's human, so is Ni'Ras, Bruise's mom, etc.
>>
God, guys. You're all so easily riled up. Is it not clear what Prof is doing by ending his post like that and waiting several minutes before posting again?

>>33056076
>We -know- he's a monster though. Like we -know- Jamie and Koga are human.
No, actually. Ceru -knows- he's human. She said it and thought it.
>>
>>33055911
Nooo, Drama is happen
>>
Ygg stop milking it.
>>
The internal muscle begins to flex to fire, yet something holds it back. The other girl is confused for a moment, and then she hears distant screaming, one of her ears flicks. The screaming stops. She begins to pull the mechanism again, and it returns...

>It's going to take a lot of your willpower to control this part of you...
>Tenacity burn...

>[2] Erase Kurojo from the other girl's vision.

We obviously don't have the option to do both because we don't have the willpower to control our other self like that.

and risking attacking nala is a horrible idea, because she is actually in fighting condition.
>>
>>33056209
There's a monster grabbing her leg. This is priorities.

>>
>>33056446
But how the fuck is it supposed to get new orders if it can't draw on anything we've learned?

Hell, it can't even use aura or even read body language and shit to sense a threat?

What if Jojo was just a Rocket Ranger we've never met before, one who went all-in on implants? How would we tell the difference?
>>
>>33056152
>[3] Make the other girl go away.

>>33056455
remember that nightmare Ceru had a thread or two ago? Ceru gunned down herself? foreshadowing
>>
>>33056152
>>[3] Make the other girl go away.
Just let marine and nala fight
>>
>>33056395
>Trying to control this.
Are you fucking insane!?!?!?!? You are asking us to kill our friend and allies while we try to get this under "control". We CANT fucking control this. We were never given the mechanisms to do so in the first fucking place. The Rocket execs have that, WE DON'T. Its a fucking miracle that during the fight with Yellow we didn't go berserk and murder EVERYONE in the guildhall, including Jojo. GOd i try and tell ppl that Rocket Mode is a BAD BAD thing, but fucking no, none gods damn ever listens and now we have to sacrifice a friend to it to kill the Nargra Kage. Fuck you idiots. All of you.
>>
>>33056484
>remember that nightmare Ceru had a thread or two ago? Ceru gunned down herself? foreshadowing
We knew that she was afraid of herself.
>>
I forget sometimes that the world this quest takes place in is directly (kinda?) connected to the one from AKUMA quest, then things like this rocket mode are revealed to be as horrible as you'd expect from subconscious alter-elves forged in tortured monster children.
>>
>>33056492
By control it, I was thinking of waiting till we are back at the dome where they have psychics that can tinker with mental wiring.

Attempting it out here would of course be stupid.
>>
>>33056492
No? We're not shooting Jojo, we're just wasting three tenacity.
>>
>>33056152
>[3] Make the other girl go away.
>>
>>33056417
>>33056435
How much clearer do you want this?
Very is not in the pilot seat. The body is currently being driven by a bundle of instincts and murder, and people not from the dome do not qualify for not murder status. The Human species are not all friendly. Rocket training only ignores dome dwellers, as it is directly fucking connected to the domes protection. It is not for saving human lived. It is for killing threats.
>>
so why didn't we have to use 2 tenacity points for each monster in the room when we killed yellow?
>>
>>33056396

A friendly reminder Ygg, we only sperg when we care. It means we care.
>>
>>33056152
>[3] Make the other girl go away.
>>
>>33056530
Someone's typing on a phone.
>>
>>33056530
As was pointed out before, Ceru didn't consider Kurojo a threat in the Nar-kage fight. Not even when he held onto her.
>>
>>33056417
>>33056455
The programmed mind is not ceru's. Therefore things that Ceru's decided and come to know aren't inherently accepted by the other girl.

>>33056484
And yes. Yes this is what was foreshadowed.

It was also done right after yellow's fight.

Something to the tune of
>You look around and see nuth'n but targets.
>>
>>33056530
But how the fuck can it recognize what is or isn't from the Dome, considering how extreme the ranger bodymods can get?

Is the key issue here.

What does it notice dome humans have that other humans don't?
>>
>>33056539
Because we were preoccupied dealing with a threat. Right now -we- are safe from everything except this filthy bird thing clinging to our ankle.
>>
>>33056539
Because Prof wanted to do it now when we had no reason to think there was anything wrong with it.

>>33056559
>>33056551
Why didn't Ceru see Kurojo as a target the first time? Or the people in his village?
>>
>>33056551
She was flipping through the fucking trees an wires and harpoons when she lost an arm and snapped. Kurojo was not holding her.
>>
>>33056152
>[3] Make the other girl go away.
>>
>>33056570
And Nala?
>>
>>33056577
>Why didn't Ceru see Kurojo as a target the first time? Or the people in his village?
Prof probably hadn't decided that he wanted Rocket Mode to be a big plot thing until people had a huge fit over the Yellow incident. I remember that he responded to the QTG discussion with something to the tune of "this has really made me think of some things".
>>
>>33056152
>[3] Make the other girl go away.

Rocket mode confirmed for brainwashing/Manchurian candidate
>>
>>33056577
>Because Prof wanted to do it now when we had no reason to think there was anything wrong with it.
Except he has been trying to hint at it in ways less than the "HERE IS WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF YOU DO THIS" that you seem to expect.

What did you think the dream was for, or >>33056559
>>
>>33056568
Let's be honest.
It was probably programmed either by smell, ranger gear or to exclusively not attack rockets.
>>
>>33056577
We didn't go rocket mode in Jojo's village, if we did we probably would have fucked them up.

Outside of rocket mode, Ceru is a caring reasonable person.

>>33056599
She's next? We'd probably just fire at both the Narga and her, making sure both die in due time. Two monsters fighting.
>>
>>33056559
Prof, you're contradicting yourself then, because even in the bar, Ceru didn't consider Kurojo or the Araraki as a target.
>>
>>33056516
We dont have that luxury out here. Whenever we go into Rocket Mode we have literally no control over our actions. Burning all of this tenacity is going either
A) Kill us dead
or
B) get all of our not-Marine friends killed.

>>33056520
If we burn the tenacity we literally make ourselves useless for the fight.

ALSO TO ALL THE RETARDS PICKING THE "ERASE" OPTIONS, YOU ARE VOTING TO FUCKING KILL THOSE PEOPLE!!!! Think on that.
>>
>>33056608
>What did you think the dream was for
Not the anon you're talking to, but I don't pay much thought or attention to dream things in any quest or in most writing in general because too often it's just the author trying way too hard to be deep or trippy with unimportant bullshit.
>>
>>33056618
But I mean how does it know if someone is a Rocket? We haven't met every Rocket, I'm pretty sure.

Scent would, I'd imagine, vary even more than appearance would, and Marine isn't wearing any ranger gear.
>>
>>33056559
Okay. Let me address the flaws.

The dream after Yellow? Obviously, Ceru was afraid of a side of herself. She was shocked that she killed someone.

She saw the people in the bar as targets?
>>33056640
She did not see Kurojo or the Araraki as targets. She saw them as their selves. So even with this
>The programmed mind is not ceru's. Therefore things that Ceru's decided and come to know aren't inherently accepted by the other girl.
"The other girl" already considered Kurojo an ally.
>>
>>33056642
...And? We couldn't contribute as it was, we're in even worse condition than Jojo.
>>
>>33056642
>ALSO TO ALL THE RETARDS PICKING THE "ERASE" OPTIONS, YOU ARE VOTING TO FUCKING KILL THOSE PEOPLE!!!! Think on that.
No it's not. The option is to make it so she can't see them.
>>
>>33056640
I think she did, but I'm not willing to say so because I'm not 100%, and I don't want to actually check.
>>
>>33056689
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/32147743/
I checked. She didn't.
>>
>>33056642
um, are you reading what I'm writing?
I specifically said that trying to patch it out here was BAD.

I was SAYING to get a friendly psychic to fix it for us, because that's their job.

Also, the Erase option is fairly clearly to have ceru make the Other no longer perceive them, which is still dangerous to allies, but won't make her target them.
>>
>>33056659
Mind control chips and implants that we were never told about AND had erased from our memories, like i fucking told you people. Srsly YOU HAVE A CITY FULL OF ESPERS. You honestly think that they WOULDN'tT use their bullshit power to influence you in some way shape or form?

Fuck the Dome, fuck ever going back to that hell hole.
>>
Ooh, here's a fun bit of food for thought.

Marine probably has a Rocket Mode as well we'll need to deal with sometime.
>>
>>33056715
Why are you bringing espers into it?
>>
>>33056715
You're retarded. Giovanni doesn't trust Sabrina. Sylph doesn't trust Sabrina. Giovanni and Sylph don't trust each other either.

Giovanni doesn't want his toys to be Sabrina's puppets.
>>
>>33056688
>No it's not. The option is to make it so she can't see them.

Umm ok HOW do we make her not "see" them? By forgetting that they exist? Pah please, what that mean is make them NOT THREATS, ie killing/disabling them.
>>
>>33056559
The dream showed that Ceru was afraid of the side of her that came out when she killed Yellow and was unaware of it happening.

Ceru saw the people in the bar as targets, but she saw Kurojo and the Araraki as themselves. They were not targets to her.
>>
>>33056749
We wouldn't burn tenacity if that was the case, since it's ALREADY going to do that.
>>
>>33056724
she hasn't used it once because she's good at her job, unlike some catgirls...
>>
>>33056152
Aw shit.
Rocket!Ceru forgot who the friend was
>>
>>33056729
Because they were involved in the creation of rocket mode.

They can -fix- it too though, and it's not like we can't get Goldie to do that if he's still alive of course

>>33056749
Yes, by forgetting they exist. It's fairly clearly stated that it's ceru taking as much control as she possibly can in this situation.

again, still bad
>>
>>33056703
Read it again. It says

Looking around, you see the faces of countless targets staring back at you, some withdraw, while others tense up as your stare passes over them.

No hostiles making a move....

Before she starts thinking as ceru again.
There was no differentiating for Jojo.
But keep making shit up.
>>
>>33056749
Dude, no. Even Ygg isn't bad enough to put an option for Ceru that's THAT ooc.

I wish he would stop writing choices in ways that lend themselves to misinterpretation. They need to be clear and he's not doing it. Some of the voters seemed to think that making the other girl go away is staying in Rocket Mode and walking off.
>>
>>33056792
You are correct, anon. To erase them from the other girl's vision is to make her unable to see them.
>>
I think we'd have to burn Tenacity every time we go into Rocketmode around non dome allies to "erase them"

We're relying on the nondome races to get us home and help us in battle.Rocket mode is just unfeasible in this environment.
>>
>>33056827
Still just cancel Rocket Mode for now.

And likely until we come back to the dome.

I wish there'd been another option to 'paint him as an ally' or something. Even if it cost more than erasing, I think it woulda been worth it to start training the RM to see Jojo as a friendly.
>>
>>33056875
Except we're going to be working with lots of allies that RM would see as the enemy.

It's a huge Tenacity drain without any major gain.
>>
>>33056729
You dont think Giovanni DOESNT have at least a few espers that are loyal to him as well? Srsly how do you think he resists his organization being fucking dominated by the Saffrons? FFS man think about for a second.
>>33056767
Ok so we burn tenacity to "wound" them. Which considering we are a walking bundle of murder will still produce causalities and fuck over any chance we have to get home, why people still want to back to that shithole when it did THIS to us is beyond me. You people are fucking insane.
>>
>>33056827
I know you like colorful language, but you really need to stop doing this in the choice selects. This has been an issue multiple times in the past, at least once in all of your quests that I've participated in. Try to make it as clear and descriptive as possible and don't let it be open to multiple interpretations.
>>
>>33056875
I'd be more content with RM painting the Nargacuga as top hostile in this situation, then we can make sure to never use the thing again anywhere near another sentient.
>>
>>33056875
I don't think something like that is as "easy" as a Ten burn.
Getting our rocket mode to usable status is going to take us getting home to psychics.

It's not even a guessing game, he has Goldenrod.

Why use something obvious and detectable by espers? Especially when he's aware that sentient espers exist?

>>33056962

>>
>>33057015
You're thinking that it can even be killed in the conventional sense.
It's compartmentalized PTSD and conditioning, it's a part of our head. We pretty much HAVE to get a psychic to take a look at it to alter it in any safe way.
-maybe- a ghost type could help, but that's not exactly a safe alternative.
>>
>>33057042
Why don't we get a mundane Psychologist?
Those exist.
>>
>>33057087
Because somehow I don't think switching to rocket mode in front of a psychologist will lead to anything good.

The other girl winces as the screams return... No. She has to complete the mission. She has to be boss's good girl. She needs to kill the target for boss. She needs to go home. She needs to kill. She needs to go to the dorm.
Back to the dorm.
Back to boss.
Kill the target.
Return.
Kill the target.
Return.

She's a good girl...

But the bad girl fights hard, she's not giving up even though she is weak, soft...

You fall to your knees, breathing hard- panicking. Kurojo withdraws his hand, his eyes locked on you with a mix of fear and concern in his eyes and aura.
“Ceru?” He asks, his voice is distant, your heart pounding in your ears.

“What's wrong with me... “ You brush away tears with the armor upon your left arm. The forest lights up with Nala's roar. One of triumph over pain or agony. As the tears leave your eyes from what was almost a great mistake, you can see the Narga-Kage's thrashing body rapidly weakening as it bleeds and suffers from Nala's ferocious onslaught.

With every breath, you witness Nala's body breath flames through ever crack and joint of her armor, radiating like an oven, yet the steel and scales composing her alloys do not melt, bend, or even glow from her power.

Marine comes up sidelong and whisks her ivory implement into the beasts' face with her tremendous strength, forcing it to buckle and its beak to fracture a second time.

Even with their victory, you only feel a sense of loss, of surrender.

Even though you saved Kurojo, a part of you almost killed him. A part of you that loves boss.

But...

You love Jojo too.

Uh, I don't care. I was telling Prof from the last thread that his bad habits from Akuma Quest are getting worse. He has no real idea how to map out fight choreography to make it exciting; his only real good point is the finishing attacks that end the fights, but he's been messing those up too.

>>33057206
Eh, it was meant to be more of a puzzle fight.

I didn't really see anyone moving ideas around on how to fight it, so I had to hand one of the key components over and then of course the original plan was for it to get caught in the trap that it had unknowingly avoided before.

This wasn't a battle of equals like yellow had been. Further, the removal of player dice makes planning all the more critical for things like this.

It's extremely difficult to make a fight seem balanced when it would've been a TK if Ceru hadn't found out about that sneaky shadow thing, or if they weren't aware that it would come for them and they went out looking for it.

We just need to focus on our long-range power. We've been going to for close attacks too much for someone who is as comparatively fragile as we are.

>>33057415
well, I guess me asking about light sources got missed.
>>
>>33057389
How stupid are you? I've said over and over again that removing the dice was for OUR benefit, because the Nargacuga is SO far beyond us that it would have such a large modifier as to no-sell all attacks.

>>33057386
But we saw it use Shadow Sneak in broad daylight.

If anything, I figured that it NEEDED light to Shadow Sneak. Kind of like how Pride was powerless in darkness.
>>
>>33057310
>I didn't really see anyone moving ideas around on how to fight it
God.

If you have no idea how to do a "puzzle" fight, you should have never bothered trying it at all. Your fights have sucked for a long time now. You always "That DM" really hard and people always overlook it. But when you went looking for advice on how to improve in your one Q&A THEN proceed to ignore all the advice you were given, it just boggles the mind.
>>
>>33057415
I suggested Psybeam several times, but no one wanted to do it.

>>33057439
>How stupid are you? I've said over and over again that removing the dice was for OUR benefit, because the Nargacuga is SO far beyond us that it would have such a large modifier as to no-sell all attacks.
Different anon here. The dice removal is fine for fighting against a tough foe who needs to be beaten through a "puzzle". However, there was no puzzle to begin with. Prof really dropped the ball hard there.

>>33057475
Probably because it's only rank 1 and our rank 4 Water Gun didn't faze a Nar-kage at all.

I'm assuming the only reason we aren't killmurdered by doing the stupid thing, yet again, and tanking a breath weapon as a gunner, is Water made that Flash Cannon normally effective?

We've also got Steel type armour over a good portion of our body, so we've got something between resist and neutral going on.

Ice resistance means nothing since that only relates to when we freeze our armor. Our protection is the blubber and the steel armor.

It's the same reason why implanting stuff from a slow species doesn't matter as long as you don't implant anything that would impede movement.

>>
>>33057762
Eh. That's because Prof doesn't know how to write a fight properly so far. He's been regressing heavily.

The missions were more interesting since they dealt with character interaction more. That's been Prof's forte.
>>
>>33057773

When it's literally only children who can take new implants, when it's assumed from experience that anything non-human is out to kill you, and when the world is dangerous enough to justify it all, then yes.

You're flipping out and trying to jam external reasoning into the setting.

>>33057843
Shadowruns and shenanigans are more fun though. Hunts are either just punchfests, or THIS.
>>
>>33057762
The plus side to hunts is that we don't have to deal with esper shit. It's still as crappy as the missions, though.

The only good thing about the missions and hunts are the times before they happen. Prof has always been shit at fights and he continues to be shitty.

>>33057793
No because this has fully vindicated me against all of the people that said i was an idiot, that there was no brainwashing and that i should shut the fuck up.

>>33057835
Oh we will be using it, we won't have a choice. Every time things go bad Rocket Mode tries to turn on. We need to burn Ten to stop it. If we are out on Ten when it tries to turn on, someone we care about will die. Think on that.

>>33057848
>Oh no someone is raising a point i dont like. Better call him a faggot.

>>33057859
Not the implants. Thats what we volunteered for. I mean the horrific abuse that produced Rocket Mode in our brains. You don't do that kind of stuff to a fucking child. And NO, there is no "greater good" argument here, Giovanni did this to us to secure our utter loyalty when he needs it most. That is utterly unjustifiable.
>>
>>33057863
I don't think its fair to call Prof shitty at fights when we set a shitty trap and then voted to jump in front of an attack immediately.
>>
>>33057940
Dude. It's the result of our intense training we were placed it. We chose to be a Rocket, and what it means to be a Rocket is to survive.
>>
Well, I don't particularly think the fight was shitty. Likely because I couldn't think of a better way to go about the enemy being clearly more powerful.

What did you like about it and what didn't you like about it?

Honestly, i'm just trying to lean more into getting better prose right now. Hellblazer has been enlightening for that.
>>
>>33057942
I still don't really know what the proper tactic was.
>>
>>33057942
No, the fight was shitty since last thread.

What do you mean a 'shitty trap'?

And lots of people have already called Prof out on barely giving anything in this fight for us to think about. Even when he's constantly asked to describe the area, he can't be arsed to give anything that's actually helpful.

He's been advised often to give clues in the way a creature fights, but he fucked up there too.

So yeah. He's real shitty at fights. Not only this one, but in all his other fights since the beginning. The one fight we had with Oliver was better done, even if it wasn't exciting at all.
>>
>>33057983
What was your intention when you set it up initially? What did you want people to think?

This was all addressed back in the Q&A, but all you've done is ignore advice and EXPERIMENT.
>>
>>33057954
>The other girl winces as the screams return... >No. She has to complete the mission. She has to be boss's good girl. She needs to kill the target for boss. She needs to go home. She needs to kill. She needs to go to the dorm.

>Kill the target.
>Return.

>She's a good girl...

>But the bad girl fights hard, she's not giving up even though she is weak, soft...

Dude, that, that right fucking there, ISNT training. It is the result of fucking mindrape. That is horrible to do to ANYONE, but to do it to a child is inexcusable. Utterly, totally and genuinely in-ex-fucking-cusable.
>>
>>33058019
No, it's a result of our already unhealthy sense of duty and seeing Giovanni as our father because we lacked a strong male figure in our life.

We created the monster.
>>
>>33057983
I think if anything the nature of the enemy we just fought is what made it difficult. It's hard to write a good action sequence when the enemy is basically an assassin. That said, I thought it was ok.
>>
>>33057983
I brought it up last thread. You're following the formula for Fairy Tail/Bleach/Naruto fights. That's shit. Don't do that shit.

Give proper clues in fights. If the clue relies on how well one can search for information on Bulbapedia or the MonHun wiki, that's a shitty clue.

Strategies are made from the information you make available. You've been horrible in this department for all your fights.

Don't end fights after A SINGLE STROKE OF LUCK. Kurojo stunning the Nar-kage before and the Narga-kage getting stunned by the trap. Both were bad (although I enjoyed the descriptions of Frost Breath on the Nar-kage in the former).
>>
>>33057983
Honestly?
If it's a puzzle boss, encourage folk who are thinking along the correct course of action with their questions and such.
>>
>>33058046
Well really, it's the fault of the anons for being greedy retards and picking an opponent that so obviously outclassed us without having any kind of plan.

>>33058057

You're bad at giving information and clues. Improve on that.

You're bad at showing progress in a fight. Lots of your fights are like that. Show the monster getting whittled down. I see you tried to make an effort here for this fight, but it was horrible.
>>
>>33058057

It would've been nice to know what I could've done, or could've been doing.
I might just be retarded and creatively bankrupt, but all I was doing for that fight was spectating.

Here's one thing I particularly hated:

I hated how little information I had about things.
>>
>>33058067
We created it from our discussions as players.
remember how before we got washed out here everything was "GLORY TO THE DOME" and Giovanni worship?
I think Prof's taking a lot of subconscious stuff from how we've acted between posts as players.
>>
>>33057983
Well we keep getting either incapacitated or put into mindless murder mode with one hit. It really doesn't make for a fun or fair fight. Ease up on your players who don't have the intimate knowledge of your setting that you have

>>33057983
I see you mention a few posts back that you wanted anons to think up ways for themselves on how to beat the Narga-kage.

It was bad enough that you didn't give any hints in the fight on how to use the territory or deal with the Narga-kage's fighting behavior. But your recent attitude, as of late, has discouraged any sort of creative use on our skills.

Be flexible in your thinking. Frost Breath is for freezing, but it didn't freeze anything at all. Stop thinking about things in terms of rank or typing match-ups.
>>
>>33058154
We're fighting an intelligent ambush predator who has learned the skills of the dead.

Did you fucks think it would be easy?
>>
>>33058131
I like how in D&D you can pause the combat for however long you need, in order to make a plan, test some numbers, look at details, and discuss. Here, planning leads to trollposts, there are no visible numbers, asking about details gets no response, and discussions never get resolved.

>>33058126
I voted to fight the Onix.
>>
>>33058173
Yeah, nah, don't be retarded, anon.

Prof made it pretty clear that it could be defeated. The problem was, well, look at all the posts. It's been pretty heavily elaborated upon on how badly Prof fucked up.
>>
I would have liked nala to be able to spout more fire to act as flares, but I guess that didn't pan out.
>>
>>33057983
If your intent was to make us feel helpless due to not knowing what to do, you succeeded.
>>
>>33057983
You've been heavily advised already on how to do better fights in the past. You've been told all the things you did wrong before. And then you repeated them in this fight. Why don't you think it's "shitty"? Why haven't you ever tried to apply the advice given to you?
>>
>>33058057
I didn't paint bright red flags on the clues until this thread.

Like the fat tht Ceru hit it while it was recovering from making an attack, or the fact that it had to expose itself at the moment of attack. Or the fact that it explicitly refuses to attack during the day.

It's called the terror of death. Nala referred to it as a living shadow.

Should I put the most important clues in greentext?

Like
>You hit the monster while it was firing! It must be vulnerable then!
Or
>Kurojo managed to block an attack! It must be substantial when it strikes.

>>33058112
Fair fight is nonexistent when you're outclassed and that was made very clear.

>>33058114
I do enjoy my shonen. I didn't say it was a good idea.

>>33058130
You received a fair amount. But you were still... IN THE DARK!

>>33058185
Froze the air.

>>33058189
I've actually been coddling a bit, honestly. After Nala opened on the thing, it got scared. It recognized Jojo's species, but Ceru, Nala, and Marine were all unknowns. If it had seen through all of your typing it would've gotten bold and dramatically more lethal in its attack.
>>
>>33058209
Look, if we didn't have plot armor, we'd be dead right now.

You're annoyed that he hasn't dumbed the encounter down for us enough.

Like what clues could we find to mitigate that it's smart, fast, stealthy, and very very dangerous.
>>
>>33058234
>You received a fair amount
Prof. God damn.

Are you always going to act like this?
>>
>>33058110
As a character, taking the players external chatter is a BAD way to build char development due to anon being insane. Seriously discussing shit between player should NEVER affect the character unless it is part of a choice. Or else i have to absolutely watch everything i type for fear of it being used against me. That is bullshit.

>>33058124
Anon that right there isnt a result of responsibility or duty to the Dome. That shit right there is cult of fucking personality WORSHIP, like, we think Giovanni is a GOD apparently, even though i never remember us voting to see him that way. >the fact that it had to expose itself at the moment of attack
Yes, but we had no opportunity to make use of this at all. Your fight choreography is horrible.

>Or the fact that it explicitly refuses to attack during the day.
Obviously. But the fight was going nowhere and we wanted it to end quickly because the fight was already crappy since the last thread. Don't you remember the anons telling you how bad it was? No one wanted to extend this anymore. We wanted out.

>You hit the monster while it was firing! It must be vulnerable then!
>Kurojo managed to block an attack! It must be substantial when it strikes.
If this is what your idea is, then you've really got a lot of work to do on improving.
>>
>>33058234
yes, anons can be very inattentive and miss things.

and maybe consider adding the enemy's current mindset to it

To act all merciful.

No, your clues are not obvious. No, your coddling would not have been needed if you actually gave us anything to work with.

Your casual arrogance in this matter never helps anything, Prof.

We did fucking take the HARDEST, remember this hardest, fight on the Guild board. Anon expect it to be a cakewalk because most QMs give their players victories to avoid pissing them off. Because anon need 2 things in a quest to be happy

A) To win everything ever forever.
and
B) Waifus to waif, and more after the first one gets boring.

No. No one but you keeps saying "anon expected it to be a cakewalk". That's you projecting your resentment onto other people.

Prof gave us shit instead.

>>
So, find the araki.
If it lived, we succeeded this thing beyond all reasonable expectation. We saved kurojo's shit.
>>
>>33058452
It happens to every quest thread eventually. Fuck SQW and the basement scene, which btw killed all pacing in that quest and turned it into Waifs waifing waifs garbage, MGNQ and the scene with the sword or the "GET FUCKED" scene. Gods beyond i could go on but no QM wants to piss off their players, therefore after so many quests players expect things to be a cakewalk for everything forever. And they whine and bitch when they don't get that.
>>
Can we at least end the thread with the Araki showing up to save everybody?

tell me you're still typing that up prof?
>>
>>33058234
Your clues are poorly done. They're all obvious tactics we would have done had the opportunity presented itself in the text. It never did.

People no longer bother planning out moves because you're so quick to shut them down. You've actively discouraged them in recent fights. So people focus on doing one action after another and speculate on how the fight goes and in what situation they'll do what action.

If you're never willing to accept criticism, you'll never improve, Prof.
>>
look people are tense and pissed can we just relax and try to enjoy the quest without blaming the qm i being shit or this anon did that wrong so he's a fag. everyone needs to take a deep breath and stop freaking out over minor details that people blow out of proportions.
>>
>>33058538
That doesn't make what you say any more relevant to the discussion. It's pretty clear that Prof can't write fights well. It was also stated, around the time of the Nar-kage fight, by a new reader that his fights were rather boring.

Yes, you're afraid of QMs going easy. But being "hard" has nothing to do with setting up a fight properly.
>>
>>33058597
But it does make choreographing a fight much harder, since he has to bend over backwards to not have the Nargacuga murder us all in round one.
>>
>>33058580
What minor details?
>>
>>33058611
How so?

How did he "bend over backwards"? Why can't he simply give clues? Provide us information? Why does he need to "bend over backwards" when all he needs to do is provide proper information?

Be specific, anon.
>>
>>33058646
Because it's flat out BETTER than us you dense fuck.

It doesn't have a red glowing weakspot to exploit.
>>
>>33058550
>Your clues are poorly done.
plenty of them, yeah, but you have to accept that there are a lot of circumstances where we dropped the ball.

Not taking the bar scene and the dream as signs that rocket mode would turn out badly in -some- way at least.

Taking the hardest mission on the board and presuming success all the way through (which was done; everyone went into it super-confident)
>>
>>33058597
Its not the QM "going easy". Its the players making a stupid fucking decision and expecting not to have t pay for it in some way, just because they are the players, they are above these things called consequences.
>>
What even is the stupid decision or mistake people are mad about?
We took a risky job that was a threat to people, and stopped it.
The big weirdness is the araki is missing.
>>
>>33058661
Let's forget about the Rocket mode for the moment when judging how good a fight this is.

People have been pointing out how badly Prof was doing this fight since the last thread.

>Taking the hardest mission on the board and presuming success all the way through (which was done; everyone went into it super-confident)
No one presumed it would be easy. People wanted an exciting fight. Prof said that it could be accomplished if it was done properly. People assumed it would be a 'puzzle fight'. And as you've agreed, the clues were horribly done.
>>
>>33058682
It really sounds like people are getting on soap boxes about stuff that really has nothing to do with what happened, is why I ask.
>>
>>33058682
Many in the thread thought the fight was poorly played out, and/or boring.
>>
>>33058666
What are the stupid decisions? Rocket Mode? Taking the job?

All irrelevant. I didn't vote to hunt the Narga-kage. I didn't vote to go Rocket Mode. Neither of these matter for how the fight was done.

They are, however, relevant to your feelings of resentment against other players and your need to side with the QM as some sort of absolute.
>>
>>33058721
>Rocket mode changes how we think and whom our targets are.
>This is irrelevant to the fight.

Ummm im pretty sure that if we are suddenly trying to kill Jojo of all people the fight scene just went out the fucking window.

... Ignoring our failure to catch the very obvious (practially stated) dangers of rocket mode is a huge one.

Going after the biggest target we could see (because we wanted a shiny armor set) was another, though if you -really- wanted, you could argue that's something every quest player does. (not that it disqualifies it, but you could argue it)
>>
>>33058839
How so?

>>33058804
No. It should have tells. Why? Simply because if it had no "tells", it would be a slugfest where strategy is meaningless. It's a creature meant to be hunted and it should be treated that way.
>>
I hope prof is actually writing right now.
>>
>>33058878

>Going after the biggest target we could see (because we wanted a shiny armor set) was another, though if you -really- wanted, you could argue that's something every quest player does. (not that it disqualifies it, but you could argue it)
This isn't even a mistake. People were looking for a hard fight.

People, however, also had misplaced confidence in Prof's ability to write a good fight.
>>

Your logic is retarded. Prof has no obligation to make the enemy stupid if that doesn't make sense. Again, IT FOUGHT HUNTERS BEFORE. Lots of them. And won every time. It was so good at what it did that it acquired an epitaph.

>>33058895
This was the best the fight was going to get, because you picked the worst opponent to fight.

It's a reputation Narga-kage have.

Why is my logic retarded? Explain without resulting to insults and 'reputation'. Use some 'logic' yourself.
>>
I think one thing that would help the fights a lot is if Prof actually described the damage that we deal to the enemy as we attack. He seems to gloss over the actual effects of our attacks on the monster sometimes.
>>
>>33058938
>This was the best the fight was going to get, because you picked the worst opponent to fight.
No. The implications were quite clear that this was meant to be a puzzle fight. It was also clear that Prof thought his clues in the last thread were good and that his clues here were "red flags".

So no. Arguing against there being any "tells" is retarded. Your logic is retarded.
>>
>>33058938

>>
>>33058977

Pacing out and, even if it becomes a bit contrived, showing the effects of players actions -is- something that would help a lot.

It doesn't even -have- to be contrived, something like a more experienced character noticing damage we might not even.

And killing someone, even if it was a secondary character, would not really help.
Jarring players never seems to work, just make them mad.

>>33059058
>And killing someone, even if it was a secondary character, would not really help.

When the complaints are directed at how you do things, this is true. Killing someone would have no relation to the complaints about your problems at writing a proper fight. It just tells them that you don't like being criticized for your mistakes.
>>
>>33059058
>>33059093
No, it's not something I was considering out of spite. I don't write these things out of spite.

You know what would have been a neat way to show off how dangerous the narga kage is?

have an omake from the POV of the Narga kage on the prowl. fucking shit up and voting on which moves to see
>>
The Narga-Kage's terror comes to an end. Your group is injured. Nala suffered several clean cuts through her armor, she's stifled the bleeding with her own flames. Marine is none the worse for wear, a little winded, but she did her best to avoid the blades like she said she would. She even hit it right in the shnoz like she said she would.

You and Jojo sit in the dugout, Nala and Marine dressing your wounds. The big cat's claws being far more tender and dextrous than you'd think they'd be. Hard and strong, yet they can thread a needle. Your arm is set into a pair of splints and then put into a sling. It'll be useless until it heals.

“My insides hurt...” You tell Nala amidst her treatment. The fiery cat looks you in the eye, her helm removed to reveal the tresses of her mane, tied into three braids on one side.

“That attack had a shock to it. Nearly broke my blade, still rendered it useless scrap more than it was in the first place.” She sighs, a battle-weary look within her eyes. She's older than you, you can tell with those eyes. “Your insides are going to be bruised for a while, this is good.”

“Good?”

The cat chuckles,”I said I'd like to wait a few days before going out to sea again, didn't I? The arm will take longer, but you should feel the pain subside after a the rest.” A strong claw pushes you down, and you flop onto the bed next to Kurojo.

After he gets stitched up, Nala makes it clear that she wants the two of you to rest.

Jojo looks over to you for a moment before leaning against the headboard of the great bed, content to sleep sitting up for now.
You bite back on your lip, and close your eyes. You feel Marine sit at your side, petting your head “Ceru, it's okay, you don't need to cry. We did it, and you're gonna get all better, right?”
>>
Fight scenes in quests make me think of Ace Attorney.

You have to find hints that your opponent is showing weakness and then capitalize on it.

But the games are designed so that you know what to do when you see the hints.

Hell, the games are designed so that the hints are actually there in the text or on the faces of the witnesses.
>>
You nod, your face leaking out bits of your sadness that you brush off into the blanket of the bed. Its dirty... Smells like other hunters too. Mostly Kahkori, but a smolder sometimes... The smells aren't much of a comfort, though it does ground some part of you.

In this place, there've been a lot that've hunted before. “Nala.” The Smolder's ear flicks, she turns halfway in acknowledgement. “What happens when hunters die?”

The Smolder can't help but laugh, a slow though brief chortle, “Little cub is curious of death? What, your people haven't told you of Yonoir?”

“What's that?”

“It is said to be a spirit that comes for the departed. It swallows them up and takes them to a great beyond.” She chuckles again, “My sire used to say that naughty cubs went somewhere that they'd never return from. Other adults then told me that all souls go to the same place.”

“And where is that?”

“Giratina.” The Araraki steps into the dugout, her walk a bit heavy, her eyes weary, and her leather dress bloodied.

“Where in the blazes have you been you little grasser?” Nala snarls, leaping up with fire pouring from her jaws, closing in on the Araraki until she stands with only a tongue of flame separating the two of them.

“We...scared... We-” The Araraki's hand clasps around something beneath her skirts defensively. Nala's too focused on the lizard and her rage.
With heat pouring from her claws, Nala wraps her fingers around the Araraki's throat and suspends her, forcing the lizard to choke, struggle, and gag, thrashing everywhich way in a panic. “You are not worth the guild seal if you are cowardly enough to flee at the sight of a monster. Cowardly slagging scales.” The lizard is thrown to the ground, falling flat.
>>
>>33059129
Yes, and this ties in with all the complaints about you not giving clues or information about the fight. What people are saying is that you don't know how to design a fight.
>>
A hacking cough resounds through the silence of the dugout. Not even Marine will rush to her defence. Not against Nala, not for leaving you all to fight against that thing.

Pulling herself together, the lizard says nothing more than, “We sorry.” A whisper of the barest amount of repentance as she leaves the dugout, and Nala to fume.

>>33059200

The fight was set up with all of the clues that the other party members gave having some degree of relevance.

>Araraki's clue told you not to go looking for it, that IT would find you
And based on her behavior, it's likely she wouldn't have mentioned it.

>Kurojo's reminder relayed to Marine kept her from eating blades and he blocked an attack.
More minor than major.

>Marine's setup of stones and the realization walking away that it was scouting as a shadow avoided a TPK scenario in which you'd be attacked in an open field where it could use its supremely sharp blades uncontested.
It was actually using phantom force.

Ceru was able to hit the beast with an icicle during its flash cannon.
Despite the fact that ghost was suspected no one bothered to use crossroad killing.
The light was used with Nala's flare which was meant to be used as an escape resort.
The thing was scared of Nala and wary of her fire, specifically attacking her as a first target...

etc.

So yeah, I'm going to
>Point these things out.
>>
>>33059187
Tell the araki we were worried about it, and that it should say something before running off.
Then go unconscious.
>>
>>33059290
Thank you, sincerely. I admit I didn't pick up on all of those until you pointed them out, so it's nice to have it made clearer.
>>
>>33059290
Remember Dran Anon will bitch about anything. Honestly i thought the fight scene was plenty alright. Honestly the only thing i didnt like was the fact that we had to split ti up and wait a week to finish it. It kind of kills the pacing when that shit happens.
>>
>>33059290
>Araraki's clue told you not to go looking for it, that IT would find you
Uh, we knew that. It was explicitly stated. And it came for us.

>It was actually using phantom force.
Don't rely on Bulbapedia.

>Ceru was able to hit the beast with an icicle during its flash cannon.
Okay? And no other opportunity came up. See below.

>Despite the fact that ghost was suspected no one bothered to use crossroad killing.
No one wanted to get close to it.

If you're talking about its attack on Kurojo, people wanted to freeze its mouth and punch/fire Water Gun.

>The light was used with Nala's flare which was meant to be used as an escape resort.
>The thing was scared of Nala and wary of her fire, specifically attacking her as a first target...
We acted as support all of last thread and let Nala do the fighting. This thread, our only choice was to set Kurojo as bait and you stated that we were the only one who could react first when it was about to hit Jojo with its Flash Cannon.

>Pointing out how useless all of these things are/How obvious they were that we were already going along with them
>>
>>33059290
Remember, Ygg, you'll always have yes-men who'll automatically accept whatever you say without thinking or judging it.
>>
>>33059290
The majority of those 'clues', we were already using. Everything else is useless because no opportunity ever came up to use them.

>Araraki's clue told you not to go looking for it, that IT would find you
What is THIS even for? Of course it was coming for us. No one thought it wouldn't come to attack us. People thought of setting up for it, but everyone wanted to talk instead. And then the set-up for its arrival already happened. So what use is there in mentioning this and acting proud of yourself?
>>
>>33059290
Okay, Prof.

>>33059334
Are you actually able to answer any of the things this anon said?

Multiple anons have been telling you throughout the thread that your clues were already obvious and in use or that they were worthless and unusable. So I don't really see what point there was in you posting all this?
>>
>>33059187
Check on the Araki.

Say that we're sorry for picking such a dangerous opponent, and that we'd be dead if it weren't for Nala, but we still would've had her back in the same situation.

Also mention that we knew a girl back home who was aware.of Giratina.
>>
>>33059355
Anon.
Do you want answers or do you want the next post?

Because i'm tired of answering everything and I'm almost too tired for the next post.

This is all very tiring. I like it better when I just write and don't talk. I'm going to do that again.
>>
>>33059290
We hit the beast once last thread before it fled to the forest. We used Icy Wind to draw it out, which led to the current situation of Kurojo getting hurt and used as bait. So this
>Ceru was able to hit the beast with an icicle during its flash cannon.
Is useless.

>The light was used with Nala's flare which was meant to be used as an escape resort.
>The thing was scared of Nala and wary of her fire, specifically attacking her as a first target...
We used this. We acted as support.

>Despite the fact that ghost was suspected no one bothered to use crossroad killing.
See
>>33059334

All the rest is...why did you bother mentioning them? They're basically the same as
>Ceru was able to hit the beast with an icicle during its flash cannon.
Useless hints because you did not provide any opportunity to use them.
>>
>>33059377
Prof. Shut up. Get to writing.

Look, you can just do another Q&A sometime. Stop replying.

Honestly, I'm on his and all the other people's sides on you really fucking up here, but I'm patient. You never help out when you make replies like this
>>33059290
>Point these things out.
But I can forgive you for your defects. Just get to work, alright?
>>
>>33059405
people do know the constant bitching is no going to make ygg want to continue. criticism is one thing and normally appreciated but the constant bitching is just clogging up the thread and irritating people
>>
>>33059377
>>33059405
Same.

Look. You've screwed up. Just deal with the problem another time because, well, you're not really giving any 'answers' here. You're just repeating the things that people have already told you were done badly. No one asked you to point these things out. They just show us how highly you thought of your own ideas.

There's no need to get your feelings hurt about this. You just need to stop coming up with excuses and accept your mistakes properly.
>>
>>33059469
>>33059405
You guys are still ignoring the part you played in facing an unbeatable opponent. Prof had the NPCs bend over backwards to make victory possible. I agree the hints weren't especially helpful, but that is because we places ourselves in a hopeless situation.

Can you fucks even acknowledge that fighting the Nargacuga was a terrible mistake?
>>
on the positive side, we killed an extremely dangerous creature so the village wouldn't die, and we saved kurojo's life with our frost breath antics. That and we properly called the hints and set up an ambush when it was about to attack.

Also, I guess we found out not to use rocket in team scenarios.
>>
>>33059511
Prof made it clear last thread that if we had a good strategy, we'd be able to defeat it.

This was before we even had a choice in the matter. It was just when the idea was brought up.

So no. What you said is not true. It's just you being completely unable to let Prof go undefended.
>>
>>33059511
>>33059537
>correction
The thread BEFORE the last thread.
>>
>>33059515
I was neutral towards Rocket mode but after this? I don't like the idea of not being in the driver's seat. Not worth it.
>>
>>33059537
How about.

Shut up. We killed it. Even if we really shouldn't have.
>>
>>33059537
And we DID make a good strategy and we DID defeat.it, so I don't know what you're talking about.

Your complaint is that the fight wasn't entertaining enough, but in context the only way it COULD have been what you wanted it to be was if we switched to Nala.
>>
>>33059569
>Even if we really shouldn't have.
Nah. Prof made it clear we could kill it.

No one is mad at the "unfairness" of the fight. That's you trying to shore up any sort of argument to protect Prof.

The problem that people have been arguing about was that it was a bad, uninteresting fight. It was shitty. You can't defend that. You didn't even try. You just keep deflecting everything by saying we shouldn't have won and to be grateful to Prof.
>>
>>33059586
Prof keeps acting like we missed so many opportunities in the fight. But lots of people agree that he didn't offer any opportunity at all and that his 'clues' were either bad or obvious.
>>
>>33059586
>And we DID make a good strategy
Yes. I know that.

Prof didn't act like it from his responses, though.
>>33059608
Like this guy said, he acts like we missed out and didn't do anything.

We worked with what we were given, and he gave us little to work with to begin with.
>>
You lift yourself from the bed, fumbling a bit and slipping back into the softness of the bed with stabs of pain running through your sore body, forcing out pained winces.

“White, what are you-” Nala glares at you, but you ward her off with your good arm,”I'm alright... I'm going to talk to her, okay?”

“Ceru, I'll come to...” Marine gets up, dusting herself off from the floor, and you smile to her, “I could use a hand, keep me from falling, okay?”

“Of course.” Marine offers you a shoulder to prop yourself up on, and you limp your sore and broken body out of the dugout. Ever step of the way is pain, ever breath taken too deeply is a chorus of throbs and aches that remind you of how close you came to experiencing death. If Nala hadn't been there. If the shock trap hadn't gone off...

It was stupid to move in front of Jojo, but your body moved by itself, you just couldn't let him get hurt. But how can you protect when your body's only evolving to kill? What would mom even say about this?
Water's all about being fluid, going with the flow and striking at the right moment... Ice? Ice is bitter and fragile even if it's beautiful. But more than that, when you use it it's deadly... Well. It helped Kurojo's bleeding stop. But is that it?

You look to Marine, a concentrated look on her face as she makes an effort to match your hobbling step, she doesn't look like she has any worries like that... Is there another girl in her too?

Expressions betray you, and you frown to the thought. Some things are just better not thought about.
>>
Wait.a sec, why is there blood on the Araraki's dress if all she did was hide?
>>
Outside, the Araraki's not all thay far away, sitting at the entrance with her back turned in protest.

“What want?” She's a fair bit more direct than usual, likely a result of being choked. It's strange for her to be so defensive though.

“Wanted to make sure you were okay... And you didn't run, did you?”

She doesn't respond to that. “Still want to go home? Glass City?”

“I... Don't know anymore...” Marine looks at you with surprise in her eyes, you return with a painful smile, a disarming giggle.

The Araraki's head inclines a bit,”Better if know. We would like it... If you could be friends...”

“Thought were before?” Marine's Raguna is even worse than the Araraki's.

She doesn't reply, only a tilt of her head, and her tail wrapping around her seated body.

You decide to put this back on topic, “What did you bring back?” You can see the alarm in her body and spirit as you say that. Slowly, but surely, she looks in your general direction.

“Nothing. Go away.” She cuts you off, looking forward again, or rather, away from the two of you.

The Araraki is hiding something... And it's likely that she won't give it up easily.

>>
>>33059646
Alright, I'm back, and can actually post something of length.

>Rocket Mode
I am quite confused. I know the dream foreshadowed Rocket Ceru to be some sort of superpowered evil side, but an entirely different identity? That's a far cry from the guess I made in the Q&A.

>Clues
Everyone dropped the ball here, and to prevent that again, there needs to be some ground rules. First, remember that there was a full week before this thread. A lot of people aren't going to remember things clearly, and some people might not have even been in the previous thread. Greentext all the relevant points and whether or not we resolved them already.

Second, if typing is going to be it's own goddamn mystery game, include those musings in Ceru's mind. I get that you already did that, but for me, I just didn't realize that figuring the typing was that damn important when we don't even have that many points in evil moves.

>canon vs. non-canon
There are a lot of stuff that fits in the wikis, and stuff that comes from you. Currently, we need BOTH to puzzle the boss out, when we're only supposed to need the stuff that comes from you.

What I knew for sure, was that as an assassin type, we just needed 2-3 solid hits to the head to stun Narga and disable/kill it. That's pretty much all I was sure of. I wasn't quite certain of the range of the armblades, if they could be stopped by a couple of boulders. I didn't know if it could still do the tail slam and the spine throw. I didn't know what the hell its breath attack was. However.

the flash bomb and shock trap didn't seem to work the same way as in monhun either, and frankly, we SHOULD know. There was plenty of time to learn. We didn't only have the time upon arriving at the camp to learn each and every trap/ability. I get it if we can only pick who to psych up and what to investigate, but the game plan is something that should have already been discussed beforehand.
>>
>>33060136
>A lot of people aren't going to remember things clearly
Nala was already fighting directly against the monster. Our plan was simply to reinforce her.

Attacking the monster after it does a big attack was useless since the information only came after Jojo was attacked and our only choice in the fight was how to intercept the Flash Cannon.

Nothing matters, it couldn't be used, or it was already being used. That's where all these "clues" fall under.
>>
>>33060176
>Our plan was simply to reinforce her.
That's another thing. When did we agree on that? It was kinda hard for me to plan something when we have to make sure not to conflict with her fire moves.

> how to intercept the Flash Cannon.
I was still holding for sacrificing our tail and letting Jojo tank the rest.

>couldn't be used
That's not strictly Ygg's fault. We could have put points into Aqua Jet or Quick Attack, but we didn't. Even though the whole problem with Narga wasn't how much damage we could do but how often we could actually hit it.
>>
>>33060231
>That's another thing. When did we agree on that? It was kinda hard for me to plan something when we have to make sure not to conflict with her fire moves.
I don't understand how you could actually ask something like this.

>I was still holding for sacrificing our tail and letting Jojo tank the rest.
>letting Jojo tank the rest
That's retarded. Especially because our tail would count as having ice protection with its plate, unlike the blubber or armor. Why would you think this at all? How could you think it'd actually be useful?

>That's not strictly Ygg's fault.
Oh no. It's completely his fault. Aqua Jet and Quick Attack are useless since even our attack with the strongest impact couldn't shake its jaw.
>>
>>33060231
>>33060280
>Oh no. It's completely his fault.
This is separate from the second sentence.

It's his fault because we only "learned" its vulnerable after a big attack (which is such a horrible "clue"; of course it would be vulnerable after a big attack) right after Jojo got hurt and we laid him as bait. Again, Prof has no idea how to lay out a fight. He forgets and discards elements entirely, like Marine's bonus of doing something big when she sees an opportunity.

Of course, an opportunity never came up. Not for her, not for us. It's these kinds of things that really show how horrible Prof is at fights.
