Air forces its way into your lungs. It’s not a good feeling. Also not a good feeling is not having room for air in your lungs because they’re filled with water. Barely aware of anything, you roll onto your side and start hacking up water onto the floor.

Your eyes hurt to open, your nose stings from getting water in it, and it seems every rattling breath you manage to take is cut short by another fit of violent coughing as your body tries to clear its airways. Your chest hurts like somebody’s been punching you in the same spot like, a billion times. In short, life is pain. You're having trouble making sense of what happened. It’s too much to process right now.

Stress: Exhausted.
-2 Sanity: 88/100

Somebody’s hovering over you. “Thank God. Okay, are you okay?” they ask. Water drips off them onto the ground before you.

>No! I’m not fucking okay!
>You should see the other guys.
>I’m a lot better now that I’m not at the bottom of a freaking pool.

Reminder that demons and stuff isn't exactly a massive secret of utmost concern to keep.

Even if we did demonify while drowning, it will likely be written off by the soccer goons as getting punched in the face one too many times.

Hell, the Hallows left a big steaming dead infernus and a gaggle of hellhounds just sitting outside some dudes building on a semi-busy street.

Pallid skin and darkening veins would very easily get attributed to almost drowning, as well. A rational observer would know something wasn't right, but when there's someone who almost drowned right there almost nobody is fully rational.

I did, but I feel it deserves its own thing like this.
>>
>>33018987
So, remind me. Did one of those bitches kick us back into the water as we were struggling to get out? Because if so, that's literally all the leverage we need to not get in trouble for beating the shit out of them. Attempted murder and accessories to attempted murder means we fucking own them.

>Where’s the thing?
>>
>>33019315
They didn't stand on the edge and kick us as we almost climbed out or anything like that, we grabbed the leg of the one who fell in with us as she was climbing out to try to pull ourselves to the edge and she kicked us off of her. She probably thought we were trying to drag her back into the pool, and that is a perfectly rational thing to think in the situation, so it wouldn't really help in all likelihood since we didn't even say that we can't swim or something to indicate that we needed help.
>>
>>33019348
Really? The way I read the last thread was that, as we were clawing at the edge of the pool, they literally kicked us back in.
>>
“Fuck pools,” you say, though speaking causes you to collapse into another fit of coughing. You feel out of whack just laying curled up on the ground. You try to sit up, but it’s just not happening. You’re too shaky and weird to do anything.

Whoever it is that’s with you shifts over so that they’re sitting by you, and helps prop you up. Normally you’d be not okay with anybody touching you, but the person is probably one of your friends and they’re here to help, and you’re too tired to feel anything but horrible.

You remember that you were trying to claw the water to death, so you crack open an eye just enough to get a blurry look at your hands. Okay, they’re not claws - you managed to shut everything down when you were going under. Good. You glance over at your (probably) savior and make out a cameo patterned jacket. Hey, it’s Baron.

You vaguely recollect why it was you were drowning in a pool in the first place. “The thing,” you say to Baron. “Where’s the thing?”

“The what?” he asks
>>
>>33019366
It even said the thing about how she probably thought we were trying to drag her back in because we were grabbing her leg in the update itself.
>>
>>33019376

“The thing!” you say, more insistently this time.

“I’ve got your glasses right here,” he says.

You take a second to vomit up another cup or so’s worth of fluid. “The other thing,” you say, your words coming out choked.

“I guess I don’t know things like you do,” he says. “Look – we need to get you to the nurse. You look really bad, as in, the bad way someone looks when they almost drown. Can you stand?”

>>33019505
Ideally we should have sent for a teacher while going to verbally spar in case they were just going to wreck it outright before we could get there, but people were pretty up on charging at her. The threat about Rowan never going near her if she damaged the book would have worked quite well if it had been the opening gambit, I imagine.

Getting laid would probably help with Sierra's stress problem.

Until the inevitable breakup, which would likely send her on a who-knows-how-long murder spree following her nervous breakdown.

I still really want to know who that dude we murdered following that one stress overload was, the same night we put Rowan in the hospital. The degree to which that has been completely brushed under the rug is incredibly distressing.

Don't worry about it, Anon. I'm sure Languid will have the police come along and arrest Sierra for murder when it's dramatically appropriate.
>>
>>33019624
CPR or not, he was likely trying to force some air into Sierra's lungs and that requires mouth-to-mouth.

“Listen,” you order. “The sketchbook thing. That’s the thing,” you say, trying to force your eyes open. You’re just not seeing anything useful right now.

“Worry about it later,” says Baron. “Are you okay to stand?”

At the suggestion, you realize that yes, you’re okay to stand. You’ve been standing all your life, and you’re damn good at it. “What the hell kind of… question is that?” you ask, squinting over at him.

Baron gives a chuckle that’s more out of relief than humor. “You sound like you’re okay then,” he says. He forks over your glasses and you attempt to put them on your face. It takes a couple tries, but it eventually works out. “Let’s go,” says Baron, rising up beside you. While you get up, you kind of cheat a little bit (a lot) by using him for both balance and support. When you’re on your feet, Baron puts one of your arms around his shoulders, and he gets an arm around your side, and you start going, all without very much input from you.

You look around for a second, and find the gym abandoned. “Where’d they go?” you ask.

“Booked it sometime after I pulled you out,” says Baron, starting to lead you off. “I wasn’t really paying attention. What happened? Some of those girls were messed up. Did you get knocked out?”

“Not by one of them,” you say. “By the pool.” You exit the gym. Between you looking probably like a wet cat and Baron’s shoes sloshing with every step, your passage turns pretty much everybody’s head. “I kind of fell in and I uh… I can’t swim,” you finish lamely. “Your turn.”

“For what?” Baron asks, not following.

“That’s another secret,” you say weakly. “Pay up.”

“Are you really doing this right now?”

Your gaze falls to the ground, and you just kind of watch as the tiles slip by beneath you. “Are you really trying… to get out of it right now?”

“Give me a second, I’ll try to get a good one,” he says. The two of you walk on for a minute. An idea occurs to him. “This should make up for the last one being bad,” Baron says wryly. “I write fan fiction.”

You laugh, which isn’t really within your air budget. You start coughing again. You’ll have to give Baron hell for that later. “’s a good one,” you say. You still have stuff you need to know about what’s up now, though. “Where’d Ro get to?”

“She didn’t want to get in your way,” says Baron. “Thought you’d be pissed. I don’t know what she was thinking – or what you were thinking either. You just can’t fight a million people at the same time,” he says. “You’re not Liam Neeson.”

You scowl. “Well I doing just fine ‘til the pool showed up,” you say. “I’m more like Bruce Willis in Unbreakable, I guess.”
>>
>>33020357

“I suppose that makes sense. Well next time, check for environmental hazards themed to your weakness,” Baron replies, smirking.

--

You’re sitting in the nurse’s office with Baron nearby. The bell rang a while ago, but he’s stayed around chatting with you, which is pretty okay, because that keeps you from dwelling on the fact you almost died.

You’re done with school for the day. Your stuff’s all wet and you are not in the mood for it. Which is why Cassandra’s here to pick you up.

Cass walks into the room with a bag with some of your stuff stuffed into it. That’s good – you could go for some clothes that don’t smell like chlorine.

She drops the bag on the table next to you and leans over to give you a closer look, ignoring Baron’s presence for the time being. “The office called me about what happened,” she says. “Are you okay?”

At the very least what she was doing counts as endangerment, by aggressively provoking someone in a hazardous location. Fights at poolsides are actually pretty srs bznss because slippery, hard pool edge, and drowning.

Oh yes it did. We asked her why the hell she was doing all this and why she took the sketchbook, and she started gibbering about how Rowan was BORN TO PLAY SOCCER with a mad gleam in her eye. She flickered when we pointed out this stunt would drive Ro further away.

She was pressuring Rowan to get her to play again, to no avail. She tried to pressure us to extort Rowan. And then when it still didn't work, she went after our friend to extort us, presumably in the hope that we'd ask Rowan to play and that she'd listen to us despite ignoring Trixie. It's basically a retarded fetch quest of attempted coercion.

“Well I’m not dead, so that’s something there,” you say flatly.

“I take that as a yes,” says Cassandra, shaking her head in a kind of motherly, I know what you mean kind of way.

Baron stands up out of his chair. “Sierra’s pretty much fine now. You should have seen her when I fished her out though,” he says. “She looked like a corpse.”

Cass steps over to Baron and gives him a brief, tight hug. “Thank you,” she says.

While you don’t like hugs yourself, vicarious displays of affection on your behalf are hardly any better. “Quit that,” you say, slightly disturbed.

Baron smiles uncomfortably. “Uh. Yeah, all in a day’s work and all that rubbish,” he says, finagling his way out of Cassandra’s grip.

“Just so you know,” you tell Cassandra, “they deserved it. And like, thanks for coming down and stuff too. I mean, it’s… sorry to make you come down.”

Cass laughs. “I’m just glad you’re fine. Don’t worry about it.”

You remember something that does have you worrying. “Baron, the thing’s still in the gym, right?”
>>
>>33021114

“I told you, it wasn’t there,” says Baron.

“You said you didn’t see it,” you correct him.

He’s quick to elaborate. “I didn’t see it because it wasn’t there,” he replies. “Just go with Ro’s mom and get better, okay? We can track down Beatrice’s buddies and have them all expelled later. We’ll get Moriah’s thing back then if they took it.”

You don’t like leaving it at that, but it looks like you’re going to be leaving it at that. “Well,” you begin.

Baron interrupts you, speaking in a phony robotic voice. “I am going to leave now. Goodbye.”

You begrudgingly allow him to escape.

---

You’re laying back in the side seat of the convertible in a dry change of clothes. The roof’s up, which is fine, because you don’t feel like wind in your hair right now. Using Cassandra's phone, you’ve already texted kind of your situation to Moriah and Rowan. Hopefully the heads up will make it so they’re not floored by it when kids start spreading rumors about it during class.

“Do you think you’re strong enough to go landwell hunting with Borislav today?” Cassandra asks from next to you.

You have been reduced to jelly by your recent experiences, but this seems like something important you should do.

Huh. I remember that these used to be [Mix] before this thread. I remember Harvey also saying how since they're black instead of red, that was an indication of the Belphegoran blood, so I don't really see why they're suddenly re-classed as pure infernus.

First thread. It talks about how our claws are black while Trevon has red claws.

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/31933457/#p31940230

And they were still black when we were talking to Harvey/the Hallows about stuff and at that point, Verwelkan was actually our least had power class.

Our claws have always been black. No other color.
>>
The claws themselves are infernus but our whole color scheme is pale skin, black veins/eyes/claws/hair thanks to verwelkian I assume

Possibly.

I wonder how our appearance would change if were to go Belphegoran?
>>
>>33021677
The black sclera are Verwelken, but the pale skin I think is a mix of Belphegoran and Verwelkan since it does say [Mix] for that. Also Harvey/Isaac did say that us having black claws most likely pointed to Infernus+Belphegoran mix before we knew anything about this stuff.
>>
>>33021703
>I wonder how our appearance would change if were to go Belphegoran?

We have
>Mix: 9
>Inf: 6
>Bel: 3
>Ver: 4

Of the mix powers, the fangs seem to be predominately Belphegoran with some Verwelkan
The Unnatural Countenance seems to be mostly Belphegoran and Verwelkan, but I can't really guess at the mix. I would guess that it's more Belph. if only because pale corpse=vampire and the pure black lines seem to be the Ver. part and the pale is more dominant than the black.
Horns seem to be mostly an Infernus thing, maybe with a bit of Verwelkan, but I'd still call them 80+% Inf.
Blood Taste is going to be mostly Infernus and Belphegoran. We know that Belphs are the 'vampires', but Inferni also do blood stuff so I'll just call this one 50/50. Maybe 60/40 favoring Inf. since they seem to actually have most of the blood-related powers we can get.
Passive Regen seems to be something that all demons have. We saw that Belpegorans have it, so this one is probably a 3-way tie. Could argue that it miiiight be more Infernus since they have the better regen abilities, but I think that the shitty base level is a universal demon thing.

Anyway, the point is that Infernus is our more heavily invested in side, but things are really rather closely balanced once you account for the natures of the mixed powers.
>>
“Well he’s like, coming by after school, right?” you ask.

“Around two,” Cass says.

“I’ll be good to go if just lie down till then,” you say, kind of to yourself. “This is like, top tier crap.” Plus, you can’t help but think it would be pretty awesome to pick up another landwell.

Cassandra accepts your decision with a nod. She’s probably all over the sacrifice personal comfort for communal safety bandwagon.

--

There’s a knock at your door, and you turn in bed. Your lie down for a second must have turned into fall asleep for a few hours deal. You blink blearily and sit up, your hair a mess.

“Borislav’s here,” says Cassandra through the door.

You trip over yourself as you go over and open up for her. “I’ll uh, be down in a second,” you say.

“Don’t forget your sword,” Cass tells you, turning and leaving.

You take a minute to get your contacts in and grab your battle gear, which is mostly Zelathis Lightning Sword in its sheath, though you’re sure to yank your .45 Ruger from your backpack because guns work, no matter how cool doing other stuff is.

You tromp down the stairs in a black, long sleeved shirt, a dark pair of jeans, and your tennis shoes, which you’ll need for running around and stuff if you need to run around and stuff. You wear a light jacket over top to conceal your shoulder holster, because the last thing you want is for Isaac to say ‘I told you so’ when you get arrested for not being careful about flashing weapons at people.

You come out and find Borislav and Cass at the table, with Borya eating some leftovers of last night’s mac and cheese, ground beef and tomatoes concoction.

“Here she is now,” says Cass, looking back at you.

Borya waves in greeting. “Hello!” he says through a mouthful of food. He’s wearing a pair of cargo shorts and a bright yellow adidas runner’s jacket. He looks like he shaved maybe like, a week ago. A rough green duffel bag sits by his side.

“Privyet Borya,” you say, walking over and smiling in spite of yourself.

“You are ready?” he asks.

“Da.”

“Good. Let us go,” he says. “Spasiba za yedu, Cassandra,” he says, standing and flashing her the okay sign. “Very tasty.”

“You’re welcome any time, Borislav. Call me or Isaac if you find anything,” she instructs you.

“Obyazatelno,” Borislav agrees, picking up his bag.

You’ve got one question before you go. “Do I have permission to snag the landwell if we find it?”

“If you can,” says Cass. “But not if it’s dangerous.”

“Got it,” you say.
>>
>>33021937

You and Borya head out to his awaiting truck. You’re pleased to find he’s already moved his huge accordion into the back to accommodate your passage. More surprisingly, though, the old truck looks like it’s been washed recently. And by recently, you mean maybe a week or so ago.

You both pop in and start going places.

“We drive,” says Borislav, “pekah… eh. How is said pekah on English? Or, how do you say pekah?”

This is a good question. “Uh….”

Wait. This was on last week’s vocab test. You know this one. “While?” you say. “Or are you like, Pekah ni or whatever, because that’s like, until, isn’t it?”

“Ah yes,” says Borislav. “We drive until… nahodeim landwell.”

You nod. “Yeah, that’s about what I was thinking,” you say. Whatever, Reeber’ll enjoy the drive, he’s in the back freaking out right now. You guess dogwalker was more of a walker kind of guy rather than a driver kind of guy.

You drive on for a bit. With Borislav’s no holds barred driving style, you definitely feel like you’re living on the edge without a seatbelt. You’re careful to keep your feelers out there for any wonky nature crap, though everything’s pretty normal for a while.

You’re pretty sure you’d be able to pick up the landwell if you got within a block or so of it, if it’s anything like the one in Muir Woods, so you figure you may as well chat up your chauffer. It’s not everyday you get to talk to Borislav bear transformer. Bearformer? No, that’s pushing it.

“So Borya,” you begin, “why are you so… I don’t know. Russian?”

“Because I am from Russia,” he replies.
>>
>>33022764

You give him a hard look, and he laughs heartily at your expense. “Okay, dumb question,” you admit. “But like, why’d you come here? I mean, yeah, big trees and you’re a druid. But don’t they have like, magic trees and stuff where you’re from?”

Boris gives you an uncomprehending look, and you spend a minute or so trying to break down your question into understandable bits. Eventually you get the point across.

“In mother country, many people say, better in America,” says Borislav. “I say is not… eh. Tot zhe. Or. Odinakovui?”

“Not the same?” you ask.

“Yes,” says Borya. “Is not same. I cannot say one is better. Is razni. Different.”

“Well why’d you come, then?”

“Is eh… Isaac’s price,” he explains.

You furrow your brow. What does that mean, exactly?

Isaac saved your life or something and now you owe him a life debt eh Chewbacca?
>>
Also, off-topic but what are we gonna do to pay Baron back for saving our life?

No, this is not a husbando thing, this is paying a debt.

He saved our skinny half-demon ass, now we owe him a debt.

Do we do something specific or just tell him we owe him and let him collect when he needs us?

Though we will of course specify no lewd favours

Maybe produce a nice drawing of him heroically saving us. Or something else, if somebody has a glorious idea. Or treat him to a meal.
But, of course, only use this as a means for the message: 'I owe you'. because, honestly, both would be quite pitiful for him saving our ass, so there's that. But I think it'd be a nice payback of the first rate.

“You’re here to pay him back or something,” you say, making your observation verbal. “Like, to help Isaac fight demons and do Marshal stuff. Right?”

Borislav nods. “I am Deputy Marshal of San Fransisco,” he says. He probably says this line a lot, given how confident he is when he says it.

You’re guessing this is in more of an official capacity than your meager deputation is. “So you’re the big man’s wingman,” you say. “Cool deal.”

Borislav smiles brightly. “Cool deal,” he repeats. Then he laughs. “You are fun girl, okay dyevooshka?”

“Yeah, like, that’s what they all say,” you say, trying not to smile or giggle or whatever. (-2 Stress: 33/100) “So… if you’re paying back Isaac, what’d he do? He like, save your life or like, I don’t know, like. I don’t know?”

“Isaac is cool deal also,” Borislav says. “He is friend of dyedooshka moi.”

“So, Isaac was pals with grandpa Zerevskii, eh?” you say aloud.
>>

“Yes. Grampa is big hero,” Borya says, visually displeased with how his vocabulary is limiting him. “Very big hero,” he says again, trying to make it sound more important. “And when I am child, Isaac… this good friend of hero dyed help family. I see such good friends,” he says intensely. Then Boris shrugs. “Maybe is how I am good person, too? So this is why I am happy to help Isaac, you understand?”

Uh. Do you?

“I think so,” you say. That’s pretty much what you’re doing. Kind of. Like, you didn’t really thinking about being the hero until a real hero showed up and was like, let’s fight the demons, Sierra. “What kind of hero was your dyedooshka, anyway? Like, what did he do?”

Borislav tries to put it to words for a minute, with your assistance in getting certain words down. “He is good soldier,” says Borya. “He fight fascists and defend Russia.”

“That’s way cool,” you say. “Your grampa fought in World War Two?”

“Yes,” says Boris.

Oh no. Ohhh no, you think to yourself. “D-did. Did he um. Oh man,” you say, a smile threatening to tear your face in half. “Did your grampa turn into a bear too?”

“What you say?” asks Borya.

“Your grampa do this?” you ask, pantomiming bear claws.

“Of course!” Borislav exclaims, laughing as if that should have been assumed from the start.

Borislav’s grandpa turned into a communist bear and fought Nazis. (-10 Stress: 23/100)

“But,” says Borislav suddenly, and very seriously, “he is not communist. Understand?”

“Uh,” you say. “Right.” Okay, minus communist. Still. Russian bears fighting Nazis. It is too good and it is too true. “So like, what your druid dyed doing running around with twenty-year old Isaac, anyway? He like, teach Isaac how to fight demons in the 80’s or something?”
>>
>>33024392

Borislav doesn’t seem to understand your question, so you spend some time going through clause by clause. Finally, he gets it, and wags a finger at you. “No no no,” he says clearly. “Isaac fight fascist with dyedooshka, Sierra.”

Your thinker quits thinking. “They fought together?” you ask.

“Da,” Borya confirms.

“But he’d…” he’d have to be at least… “Borislav,” you say guardedly, “do you know how old Isaac is?”

Borislav turns to look at you when he gets the point of your question. “Heh. You do not?” He gives a broad smile at your obvious lack of knowledge. “Ahh you do not. This is funny to me,” he tells you. And then for a while, he laughs at you.

“Okay yeah I get it, how old is Isaac?” you ask again.

He thinks about it for a moment, perhaps doing some mental math as he does. He finally arrives at an answer, however. “Ah yes. Is maybe, hmm, eighty-five,” he answers. “Yes. Maybe eighty-four, maybe eighty-six, something like this, da?”

>>
>>33024519
Shadow tentacles really isn't an available pick because we already bought all the available perks that could improve making shadow tentacles. The only way we can buy more shadow tentacle stuff is if our last purchase unlocked a new thing to buy.

There should be 4 Verwelken skills
>Child of Night (being in shadows gives armor bonus)
>Invisibility (pretty shit but is a prerequisite for not-shit invisibility)
>Talking to shadows thing I forgot the name of (it honestly looks pretty cool. The san cost for using it isn't a big deal if we don't go absolutely bonkers overusing it and it would have been helpful for this mission with the landwell hunt)
>New thing that unlocked for buying Atramentous Dominion

Maybe New Thing will be cool, but I'm hoping for Child of Night and if we can pick a second power, then either Fire Resistance or Blood Curse or maybe Inflict Pain or Fear.
>>
>>33022074
When we're strong enough not to break our wrist shooting it and accurate enough to not piss away one of our three shots on a miss.
>>
>>33024740
We don't necessarily need physical strength to pull it off. Right now we could use shadow control to brace since we can make the things pretty damn strong. We were able to fling a grown man across a room fairly easily and hold back a pack of hellhounds for a little bit using shadows. On top of that, once we get Child of Night the recoil should be absorbed if we coat our arm in shadow while shooting.
>>
I wonder if we'll be able to learn how to summon shadow monsters as part of our landmastery like how we can summon fire bats.
>>
>>33024740
The ballistics of .50 BMG out of a 1 inch barrel would be terrible anyway. Might as well get something like .600 nitro express at that point.
>>
>>33024813
>Get a blunderbuss
>Pack it with ridiculous high explosives
>Use shadow control to hold the damn thing together when you fire it and prevent getting blown up
Probably retarded, but it would be cool if it worked.
>>
>>33025017
Get a short barrel semi auto 20mm rifle instead. More practical than having to carry loose powder and balls on you.

Also more powerful and faster fire rate.

Tentacle quest is strange.
You start off as a small organism in a gas giant. You then impregnate a woman and develop inside her, while fucking with her mind. Then you fuck with her mind more so she stays inside so nobody sees her as pregnant. Then she gives birth to you, a strange futa tentacle monster shark thing. You then rape/mindrape her neighbours, her childhood love and the pizza delivery girl, and then have consensual sex with your mother again (Which is still kinda rape because you've mindraped her into loving you).
Every girl you rape and impregnate gives you additional powerups that aid in the rape and subsequent impregnation. It's fucking crazy.
And then it went on hiatus.

Other smut quests are few and far between if you don't like /u/.
