"Mmmmmmm..."

This pillow's kind of heavy, but the pressure on my arm's kind of nice in its own way. Pulling myself in closer, I drift back to sleep as I rest my head on the fluffy warmth.

A huge bed and warm covers and the best pillow ever... this feels like heaven, I wish I could stay like this forever.

...

......

......... wait a minute. This isn't a pillow, it's-

As my mind starts to finally process what it was that I just did, my eyes snap open.

"...huh?"

There's... nobody else in the bed. But I could have SWORN that I was just using Charlotte's-

NEVER MIND THAT.

I reach over to the nightstand and snatch up my glasses, throwing them on so that I can doublecheck with actual working vision... and nope. It's just me in this massive bed. And I'm still feeling a bit sleepy, so maybe I'll take a quick-

No no no no. Time to get up. Sitting fully upright in the bed, I slap myself on the cheeks a few times to wake myself up before throwing the covers off of myself and hopping down onto the floor. And since I'm a gust here, I should probably show my thanks for Charlotte letting me crash here for the night by making the bed.

Stretch out the sheets...

Tuck this in here...

Aaaand done.

Once I'm satisfied with the job I did, I make my way over to the door and open it... oh, there Charlotte is, talking on the phone with someone.

Before I do -anything-, it would probably be a good idea to see where the giant scary cat monster's hiding. After all, I'd much rather not piss her off and get mauled for my troubles.

Nothing to the left...

...aaaand she's over in the corner gnawing on a huge bone or something. And she just met eyes with me.

hahahahahaha I guess I won't be eavesdropping after all.

Waving at Milla the (potential) man-eating hellbeast, I leave the bedroom and make my way towards the kitchen. If these cupboards are stocked, I guess I can make her breakfast or something.

I guess I can make an omelette, maybe fry up some bacon depending on what she has...

"...oh," I stop dead in my tracks. "Oh wow."

O- on the table. There is SO MUCH FOOD. Pancakes and bacon and toast and sausages and I think that's turkey bacon too and there's a pitcher of the really really high-quality orange juice and there's some Belgian waffles over there...

My mouth is watering just looking at this stuff.

"I didn't know what you like to eat, so I asked room service for a little of everything," Charlotte says from behind me. Fortunately, I'm able to keep from being scared too much by her sudden appearance. "And now that you're awake, let's eat up!"

Before I'm even able to squeak out so much as a "good morning," Charlotte grabs my hand and pulls me along with her to the table.

Once we're there, Charlotte hands me a plate and immediately goes about filling one of her own with food.

"Just take whatever you want," Charlotte says with a wide, beaming smile. "And if there isn't enough of something that you like, I can always call the front desk and have more brought up for you."
"Uh... thanks," I reply, unsure how to deal with the sudden feast that's sitting in front of me.

After taking a bunch of bread for myself (I really like bread) and a huge glass of orange juice, I sit down at the open spot at the table next to Charlotte.

"Umm... so I saw you on the phone earlier," I say.
"Mfghmh?" Charlotte wolfs down a huge piece of toast. "Ah, yes. Just giving a report on the previous day's findings, it's nothing that you need to worry about."
"Report?" I ask. "You mean to that Gauthier guy?"
"Not directly, no," she shakes her head. "But I -am- here on business, and I don't want him to think that I'm abusing the perks of my job so that I can buy expensive meals for my friends instead of working, you know?"
"Yeah, that makes sense."

Great, now I feel guilty.

"But you don't have to worry," Charlotte says, pointing a waffle-covered fork at me. "I didn't call the special forces on you or anything!"
"Eheh... that's a relief," I say with a nervous smile.

In hopes of avoiding any more awkward comments, I try to keep from saying much of anything for the rest of breakfast and instead focus on how good the food is. And even though I'm in super awkward mode right now, Charlotte seems to be really enjoying herself... I dunno why, though. Maybe she just likes having other human-type people around.

Once we've both eaten our fill, Charlotte puts the stuff that she wants to save for later in the fridge before calling Loki over to pick at what he wants.

"I know that this might look kind of strange, but I prefer that he eats with me instead of, bugging other people and eating their garbage like most crows do," Charlotte says with a nervous laugh.
"No, I totally understand," I shrug. "You eat the good stuff so you want your friends to do the same."

And I'm benefiting from this too so I can't really complain.

With breakfast time over, I walk over to the couch and take a seat... and then I realize that I'm still wearing the same frilly nightgown that Charlotte is. And that I kind of need to take a bath.

"Hey, Charlotte?" I call out.
"Hm?" Charlotte replies from across the room. "You wanted seconds?"
"No, that's not it," I shake my head. "But, umm... my clothes..."
"Oh!" she claps her hands together. "I'll call the front desk right now and ask them to send your clothes back up!"
"Thanks."

Charlotte runs over to the hotel phone and calls room service or whoever's in charge of getting my clothes cleaned. And as the conversation continues, I can't help but notice Charlotte's cheerful smile slowly turn into frown...

Uh-oh.

"Of all the luck..." Charlotte sighs as she hands up the phone.
"Uh, did something happen?" I ask.

Please don't say that my clothes got accidentally torched and I'm going to have to walk home in this.

"About your clothes..." Charlotte mumbles. "...Apparently there was some kind of accident downstairs that the hotel was responsible for, and they offered to have -everyone- who was caught up in it's clothing cleaned."
"What, they lost my clothes?" I ask.
"No," she shakes her head, "but they're running way behind schedule and they won't be done with your clothes until the afternoon," she sighs. "I'm so sorry about this..."

dammit dammit dammit dammit

"I know that it's my fault," Charlotte says, taking note of my foul expression, "so umm..."

Why is she fidgeting?

"...I'd be more than happy to loan you one of my dresses until then!"

Well, crap.

If I refuse, that means that I'm stuck here until my clothes finally get back... not to mention that I'd seem REALLY ungrateful. So I guess I don't really have a choice...

"I guess I can do that," I say. "As long as I can get my own clothes back later... I really liked that shirt."
"Of course!" Charlotte replies with a beaming smile. "I'll make sure to return your clothes as soon as I can!"
"Alright," I sigh. "You're not gonna like, load me with bugged clothes, are you?"

While Charlotte hurries off into her bedroom to get something for me to wear, I head for the bathroom. Might as well end my lovely hotel visit with a luxurious bath, right?

"...whoa," I gasp as I actually take a look at the toiletries in here. These body washes and soaps and shampoos are all the super fancy stuff that I'd NEVER shell out for.

No wonder Charlotte smelled so nice las- NOPE NOPE NOT GONNA GO THERE.

After making sure that the temperature's -just- where I like it, I step into the bathtub and enjoy myself a nice long soak.

This right here.

>>
>>33011615

After soaking for a little while, I start to feel myself slipping away...

"Cecile?" Charlotte calls out from the other side of the bathroom door.
"Wh-" Jolted awake, I spaz out a little and end up choking on bathwater. "Yeah?"
"I've put a change of clothes for you on a chair right here outside the bathroom door, okay?"
"Alright, thanks!"
"Just take your time in there, I'll use the shower in the other bathroom!"
"Okay!"

...yeah. I probably should try not to fall asleep in here, that would just be weird. Not to mention a drowning hazard.

But I still intend to enjoy the facilities here for a little while longer, so I take my sweet time to finish my soak. And since there's shampoo just sitting here, I take the opportunity to wash my hair as well.

Now I feel like one of the girls in those hair conditioner commercials.

Having had my fill of DECADENCE for now, I step out of the bathtub and dry off, making sure that my towel is -firmly- fastened before peeking outside to see what kind of clothes that Charlotte left for me.

...oh god, this is just-

and there's matching underwear too, why are these so frilly-

Dammit, I'm never going to live this down. Even if nobody else finds out about this through some unlikely miracle, I'LL still be stuck with this memory of shame.

Snatching up the pile of clothes, I retreat into the bathroom and begin the shameful act of putting on what Charlotte has prepared for me. Never in a million years would I ever wear something like this on my own...

Straps secure.

Socks pulled aaaaaall the way up.

And is this a separate collar? How the hell am I even supposed to-

After a while, my struggle is ended and I find myself fully clad in the kind of frilly lacy dress that Charlotte apparently lives for. With a sigh, I pick up the nightgown that she lent me and exit the bathroom...

"Oh, you're already done?" Charlotte says as she looks over at me from her seat in the liv- "OH MY GOD YOU LOOK EVEN CUTER THAN I'D IMAGINED!!" she squeals in delight as she runs to my side. "It looks even better on you than it did on me..."
"Th... thanks..." I mumble under my breath as I feel my face start to go warm.

Charlotte runs off to her room for a few seconds before returning with a pair of black hair ribbons.

"Let me fasten these right here..." Charlotte says as she leans in close and ties one to the side of my head. "...and right here..."

"Of course!" she says in a stern tone. "There's no point in doing it if you're not going to do it -right-, you know!"
"Uh, I guess."

Once she's satisfied with her handiwork, Charlotte pulls out a mirror and shows me what exactly she did.

"Look at how adorable you are!" Charlotte says as she holds it up to my face.

Ask how common Branches are, ask what her schedule is like for the next couple days, if we don't have her phone number we should get it. Frilly.

Soooooo frilly. I feel ridiculous in this thing, it's SO not my style.

"...but I guess I do look kinda cute in this," I mumble under my breath as I look myself over in the mirror.

And then the shock from Charlotte suddenly hugging me nearly causes me to drop the stupid thing on the floor.

"I just -knew- that you'd like it!" Charlotte says as she pulls me in even closer. "If you want, you can give me your measurements and I'll whip something up for you when I have some free time..."

"I mean like for the next week or whatever," I reply. "Are you gonna be busy searching for the book or will you be staying back here at the hotel, that kind of thing."
"Oh," she nods. "I see."

Today's already been weird enough I hope she's not getting the wrong idea from this.

"Well..." Charlotte says as she starts to pace around, "I generally walk around for a bit twice a day, morning and evening, in order to see if I pick up any Synapses. And while I'm doing this, I have Loki patrolling the city to look for anything out of the ordinary."
"Oh," I nod.
"He also has the other crows around here allegedly helping him out, but I can't exactly rely on them seriously," she sighs. "And when I come in for the night, I have another of my friends run a night patrol until morning."
"Sounds kind of busy."
"It's not as bad as you'd think," she shrugs. "And I make my own hours, so it's totally fine if you wanted me to set aside some time for you."

That's pretty nice of her.

Ya know, at this point I think we've pretty much already made our decision as to what faction we're going with.

Sure, we could turn around and try to get in with Irenes organization (From what Charlotte said, they'll try to coerce us to at some point),
but it would make all this relationship building with Charlotte into a tragically pointless betrayal.

Plus we'd have to deal with that asshole Archibald.

The heart agrees but the mind says it is way too early to be making that kind of decision. We've talked to Irene twice and one of those times was not a happy time.

"I didn't really have anything in mind right now, but thanks," I say a I walk over to the couch and pick up my phone from where I chucked it last night. "An now I should probably call my friend and see how she's doing."
"Speaking of phones..." Charlotte says as she pulls out hers, "it would be a shame if I let you leave here without getting a picture of the two of us in matching dresses."

That smile on her face. It is a smile of mischief.

"This really isn't a big deal or anything," I say. "so you don't have to go out of your way for-"
"I -insist-," Charlotte says as she walks over and wraps her arm around me. "Loki~!"

Almost as if he was expecting this kind of thing to happen, Loki flies over to Charlotte and takes the phone from her hand.

"Does he actually know how to use that thing?" I stare in disbelief as Loki brings the phone to a nearby ledge and starts positioning it with one of his legs while balancing on the other.
"He certainly does!" Charlotte laughs. "Now stand still..."

We can't take her word at face value because that is merely a rumor.

Sure, I'm certain triangle man would have tried if he knew, but Irene certainly wouldn't do that.

Plus I don't think the vigilante faction has a very good life expectancy, these factions rarely ever do.

I don't think this should be a real consideration. We know something big is going to happen that'll likely give everyone a short life expectancy a week after this quest ends.

My eternal shame and embarrassment. It has been forever immortalized by a crow.

I can't be sure of anything anymore.

Once Loki's done taking our picture, Charlotte checks it over on her phone to make sure that it's to her liking.

"It's just as cute as I'd hoped!" Charlotte says, patting the crow on his head. "Cecile do you think your sister would like a copy of this?"
"Huh?"

And then it hits me.

"NO NO ABSOLUTELY NOT" I shout. "S- seriously, she's not interested in pictures of me!"

There is no way in hell that I'm ever going to let her see that picture.

"Aww, that's a shame," Charlotte sighs. "Well I guess I'll just send a copy to you and you can decide what to do with it... oh, you were trying to call your friend!"

With Loki perched on her hand, Charlotte walks to the balcony in order to give me my space.

>>
>>33013637

>>
>>33013329
The problem is; we might not have time to get enough information to make an informed decision.
That's assuming they'd be willing give us that much information without us outright giving them the books beforehand.

Plus the fact that they're both going to be biased. And I seriously doubt they'd be willing to talk about any suspicions of corruption in their organization to an outsider. Especially one they just met a few days ago.

In any case, we have to choose -someone- to give up the books to and get their protection from the other faction soon.
Or else we'll get ripped apart by both of them in the crossfire.

...it's probably not a good idea to mention that over the phone.

"Eh, I'll tell you about it when I get to your house," I say.
"Alright," Theresa replies. "Are you gonna be coming over right now, or were you waiting until later?"
"I'll probably be there within an hour, I guess?"
"Okay, cool. That'll give me enough time to clean up."

And so, my plans for the day are set. After saying my goodbyes to Theresa, I hang up my phone and pick up my other things...

I not saying we shouldn't, but if/once we tell Irene about Charlotte (which we'd have to if we ask about Gauthier, to explain how we know about him),
then the situation will immediately evolve from two factions that want to get the same thing, into two factions -fighting- to get the same thing.

Another thing of note is that Archibald is convinced we know about the book, so he'd try to get us to spill the beans if he shows up if/when we meet with Irene.

Thank god that it's not Cecile's decision. Mina and Theresa can do whatever they want with the books.

>>
>>33014240
But they won't stop searching for them 'till they find them, or have proof they were destroyed.
Since, in their mind, who would be crazy enough to destroy something like that out of hand?
The only reason we're even thinking about doing that is because we know they're after them.

"I see," she nods. "Well, take care..."

She seems kind of sad to see me go, but it's not like I can stay here and hang out with her all day.

Well actually I -could-, but I've already made plans with Theresa.

"Hey Charlotte," I say, turning to her before I walk out the door.
"Yes?" Charlotte relies.
"I just wanted to thank you for the hospitality. Letting me crash here for the night, the food, lending me this... dress..."

dammit why am I blushing

"It was my pleasure!" Charlotte giggles. "And you can feel free to visit whenever you like, all you need to do is give me a call!"

As I walk out of the elevator and go through the main floor of he hotel, I can't help but think that people are staring at me. I mean, this dress -is- really frilly and lacy and stuff, but it's not short or anything! ...thank God it isn't short, I don't want to attract any more attention than I already am. I'm not like Allison, I don't enjoy having guys staring at me.

Speaking of which, she -is- technically in charge of me... I guess I have a responsibility to let her know where I am and that I'm doing fine. Even though I really don't want to.

Pulling out my phone as I exit the hotel, I pull up her number (the first on my contact list) and give her a call...

...and she answers on the first ring.

"Cecile!?" Allison shouts from the other side of the line.
"Yeah," I sigh. "Quit being so loud, okay?"
"Forget about that," her voice starts to go into a creepy tone, "spill it."

"Aww man, I wish I could have gotten a picture of you cuddling with your first girlfriend... don't worry, I'll be sure to give you some pointers on how to et to the next step when you get home!"

Nope. Not dealing with this.

I don't want to make a scene out in the open like this by screaming at her, and I also don't want to accidentally flip out and murder my phone with laser eyes so I put it away and walk the rest of the way to Theresa's house in silence.

Nothing really happens on the way there, aside from a few stares from passers-by since I'm wearing this flashy dress. And thank God I don't get any Synapses-

...there it is. But I'm like a block away from Theresa's house so that probably just means that I'm reacting to her. Speeding up for the rest of the walk there, I walk up her front steps and ring on the doorbell.

And not even ten seconds pass before the door swings open and I'm met with the surprised face of my (formerly estranged) friend.

"Hey, Theresa," I say, waving hello.
"Um..." Theresa mumbles. "...hi, Cecile..."

"I found out what my Branch is!" Theresa says with a happier smile than I've seen on her face in a long while.

"You did?" I stagger back. "How'd you figure that out? Mina had to throw a freaking centipede thing at me before we could figure out what exactly mine is..."
"It was when I ran into you and your girlfriend," Theresa replies. "I got really scared, and then..."

And before I can yell at her that Charlotte isn't my girlfriend, my vision goes all hazy. What the hell?

"What did you just do?" I ask as I take my glasses off to clean them just in case she put something on them. "Theresa?"

I put my glasses on, and... nothing. What the hell?

I look all over the room, but she's gone. What the hell, did she teleport or something?

"Ehehe..." I hear Theresa giggle just as I get another Synapse headache and she's- what the hell!? She's leaning on me from behind and her arms are wrapped around me but I didn't even-
"What did you just do!?" I shout.
"I didn't go aaanywhere!" Theresa giggles as she hugs me. "Cool, isn't it? It's called 'Blind Spot!'"

"You smell really good, you know that?" Theresa says as she leans on me.
"Thanks, I guess," I sigh. "But back to the matter at hand..."
"Oh yeah!" she hops off of me. "My Branch!"
"Yeah," I nod. "You said that it's called 'Blind Spot?'"
"Yup!"

She's REALLY excited about this.

"Basically, I can go invisible!" Theresa says, puffing out her chest in pride.
"You were only invisible?" I ask. "Because you were leaning on me and I didn't even feel it until you popped back into existence..."
"Umm..." Theresa says, scratching her head, "I put it like that, but it's not -real- invisibility, I guess. It's more like I become 'that which does not exist.'"

Huh? That sounds kind of familiar.

"What's that supposed to mean, exactly?" I ask.
"Basically, I can make it so that nobody can notice that I'm around. Like, at all. I was testing it out yesterday, jumping around and leaving my hands in people's faces while yelling at them and nobody noticed at all."
"Wow."
"And then I walked right up to a flock of birds and they just carried on like I didn't even exist! Isn't that awesome!"

Charlotte already knows there's a stealth power around. She would have felt Theresa way before Theresa saw her and then felt her disappear.

I can see why that would spook her bad.
>>
>>33016056
Why don't we just get her to burn the book? She doesn't need it anymore, and it will prevent anyone from going after her to get it.
>>
>>33016068
Because then we'll get assholes showing up going "WHERE'S THE BOOK", and we'll say "Burned it." and they'll say "BULLSHIT. YOU DON'T DESTROY SOMETHING THAT VALUABLE. WHERE'S THE BOOK. IMMA GET SPACE STATION 13 ON YOUR ASS IF YOU DON'T GIVE ME THE BOOK" and it will be bad end.
>>

For all we know that might result in Bad Things. Just randomly burning magic books should only be done after you've consulted an expert to make sure they wont explode or summon Cthulu or something.

And unfortunately, if we ask a question that specific it'll probably be pretty obvious we've got a book.
>>
>>33016082
Take a video of the book burning. Or pictures. Something.

>>33016086
Pastebin is not alphabetized. My OCD!
>>
>>33016095
Mina already indirectly asked Charlotte if it was okay and she didn't say it'd explode in magic cancer. She just said Gauthier wanted the books to research how they're made. Which is a shady as fuck reason.
>>
>>33016086
If Long is a whole block, then I imagine Massive must be a whole friggin' city
>>
>>33016082
There are already 2 groups in town looking for these books. They each seem to only think there's 1 book, which means burning one just makes everyone's expectations end up true. If they had an address or the ability to tell if someone read a book to get abilities, they would have already busted us or our friends.
>>
>>33016095
>And unfortunately, if we ask a question that specific it'll probably be pretty obvious we've got a book.
I think we should ask Charlotte if we can talk to someone higher up who can answer questions, and be prepared to burn the book immediately if we don't like what we hear. They'll know we have the book, sure, but that doesn't matter anymore.
>>
>>33016132
She wants to be a phantom thief.

God damn it, Theresa. No. You cannot be a phantom thief. I don't care that you have a figurine of Kaitou Kid. No.
>>
>>33016127
Burning the book to spite them when they know we have it is great way to get on the whole organizations shit list.
We'd only do that if we're 100% absolutely certain we don't want to join Charlottes side.

Based on what we know of them, I don't think they'd do much to overtly harass us. Maybe he'd use his business connections to deny us job opportunities or something. And that would go away if we let him recruit our VERY STRONG branch.
>>
>>33015975

"Yeah, I guess," I reply, laughing nervously. That's like the perfect power for a stalker.
"I wanted to surprise you with it, like follow you into your house and pop back in all cool-like when you were in your room, but you didn't go home..."
"Yeah, now I'm kind of glad that I didn't go home," I say with a nervous laugh.
"That's no fun," she sighs. "So what's your Branch called?"
"Over Shine," I say. "Apparently, it lets me control light. And I can focus the sun's light to make lasers and stuff."
"Wow," she says, whistling. "That's pretty cool, I kind of wish that my power was something like that."

I don't even want to think about what she'd try to do if she had my Branch. Probably play superhero or something.

"Ehehe..." Theresa giggles. "You can control light and I can turn invisible... it's like a perfect team!"
"Uh, what?" I ask.
"I'm already in the middle of making a costume, you want me to make you one too?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about, Theresa."

Please don't ask me to play superheroes with you.

"I'm gonna be a kaitou!" Theresa says proudly. "And you can be my pretty assistant! How about it, we can already see that you look good in cute dresses!"

I have no idea what the hell a "kite-oh" is.

Do you have a better way to gain information? We're never going to trust them enough to hand a book over at this rate.
>>
>>33016199.
It's Theresa's book, so she can decide what to do with it. But in my opinion I'd hide it somewhere and wait for an opportunity to sell it or something.
>>
>>33016188
I really wish we had asked about who is in charge of keeping powers secret. Knowing that would easily let us quash this dream.
>>
>>33016221
We're going to hang onto the books until they get us in deep shit, aren't we? Hiding them indefinitely is a terrible idea. So is accepting money. How are we supposed to know whether we trust the buyers?
>>
>>33016199
What if the next time we saw Charlotte we told her we saw someone at school with the book, took it from them while they weren't looking, and burned it. If she asks why we burned it, we could say it's due to us not feeling confident enough in our abilities to protect it long enough to bring it to her.

If she's upset that it's destroyed but is otherwise okay with our decision, we can trust her and give her the book. If she flips out and threatens us, we know not to trust her, and still have the books as bargaining chips.
>>
>>33016199
I say we should just take a leap of faith.

Surely Archelon wouldn't be such a dick as to give us a blind choice between good faction and evil faction?
Surely neither one is a terrible choice?

Right?
>>
>>33016239
But Charlotte isn't the problem! We need to know whether Gauthier's research on how the books were created is safe and why he's doing it. That's not information we can get from Charlotte.
>>
>>33016236
The only difference between hiding the book indefinitely and burning it:
In both cases nobody gets the book, but you can't change your mind later if you burn it.
Burning the book will get us into deep shit and then we'll be screwed because of no recovery.

You know what they say about Burning your Bridges, and destroying your future options needlessly?
Don't destroy the books.
Not until you have a REASON to do so, which will BENEFIT someone.
Currently, destroying those books doesn't even benefit your paranoia because people are still after the fucking things.
>>
>>33016249
True, but determining how much they value the book being in their possession as opposed to it not being in the wrong hands would give us something more to work with than just her word.

Since his wife died in a fire caused by someone, I doubt he's trying to make an army. The most we'd need to worry about from him is a god complex where he's attempting to resurrect his dead wife by researching abilities until he finds one with the power to do so, which would likely be an overly powerful ability in it's own right. Then, using the collection of books, he can find a patten with the former users of the power, find similar test subjects, determine what grants the ability, then graft it into himself using genetic modification.

I just scared myself into not trusting Mr. Gauthier.

Can Cecile manipulate parts of the electromagnetic spectrum aside from visible light, that being infrared light, microwaves, and radio waves, as well as ultraviolet light, X-rays, Gamma Rays.

Can Cecile change the color of light? Or more accurately can she change frequency/wavelength of electromagnetic waves?
>>
>>33016422
How long until Charlotte and Irene realize they should stake out the school? They should have realized by now, right?
>>
OK people!

Let me just lay out some stuff I've extrapolated from what we've been told and what people have let slip, minus any debate over who is good/evil:

Irene and Archibalds faction: They're vigilantes with access to lots of resources and are possibly quite an old faction.
Siding them would give us lots of support and maybe access to the complete database of Branches.
But we'd also have the least freedom in how we operate, and the most rules to follow. Almost military, it seems.

Mr. Gauthiers faction: He's a businessman vested interest in making an independent database of branches.
Siding with them would give us less information on Branches and less backup.
But we'd probably have great freedom in what we do and how we handle our work, as long as we get the job done.

Of course, once again, this is mostly extrapolation on my part. So it's probably not 100% accurate.
>>
>>33016486
And why didn't Irene follow us to school on the day we met her? I can't think of a reason for her not to.
>>
>>33016492
Gauthier might be able to provide backup. He only expected Charlotte to Get Shit Done on her own because she's particularly suited to doing so.

That he made her do so for, apparently, a long time is not, imo, a mark in his favor.

>>33016422

>>
>>33016422
Is Mina going to do this fangirl stuff too if she gets powers or has she been shocked out of it?
>>
>>33016433
>Does training your branch make it bigger or does it always stay the same size?
Depends on the Branch. Some strengthen with practice, others unlock new facets of their abilities over time, etc

>Can you have two small branches in place of a singular ordinary one?
There are only two instances where this can happen, and both are extremely rare.

>>33016474
>Can Cecile manipulate parts of the electromagnetic spectrum aside from visible light, that being infrared light, microwaves, and radio waves, as well as ultraviolet light, X-rays, Gamma Rays.
Cecile is limited to visible light and ultraviolet. All the other crazy stuff is out of the scale of her ability.

>>33016486
>How long until Charlotte and Irene realize they should stake out the school? They should have realized by now, right?
Who knows!

>>33016552
>Do all branches have primary and physical effects or are you only putting that in the pastebin to make us curious for answers that don't exist?
The vast majority of Branches have a physical aspect that serves to facilitate the main ability. (Irene's jaws and teeth being strengthened so that she can omnomnom better, Cecile's eyes changing to see all the types of light she can manipulate, etc)
Something like a change in brain makeup would also be classified under this.

>>33016597
>Is Mina going to do this fangirl stuff too if she gets powers or has she been shocked out of it?
Who knows!

And now I sleep.

If she is, in fact, stuck in a bad organization, then anything that -we- can do to help her is probably much less than she can do on her own.

I do feel for her, though.

There's condensing sunlight into a laser, which might be able to be improved by drawing the sunlight into a loop that we maintain for a bit before releasing it, a pulsed laser instead of a constant one. Changing the apparent color of things, this can include coloring it like what is behind it, and hypothetically, with a fuckton of precision, manipulate the light that would enter someone's eyes to directly alter what they see. Bending light around corners or obstacles. Making images that only one person can see as the light is directed right at their eyes, that could be fucking hilarious. Since we can control ultraviolet light, and most people can't see that, we can make invisible lasers, we can give people sunburns, hell we can give people sunburns on their eyes, welder's flash is a bitch, and if we're dedicated cause permanent damage to their retinas. Also, killing bacteria.

We could probably use this to fuck with a lot of components of electronics, fiberoptic cables as well, they rely on signals of light.

If we're able to alter the phase velocity of light in a dielectric medium, either through altering the refraction index for the spectrum of light or some other way, and we get our hands on some Strontium-90 or Tritium or instead make use of cosmic rays that are directed at earth, we may be able to produce Cherenkov Radiation. Cherenkov Radiation is like a sonic boom, but for light, and is produced when a charged particle, such as a beta particle from Strontium-90/Tritium, or some sort of cosmic ray, moving through a medium exceeds the phase velocity of the light in the medium, it releases mostly ultraviolet light, with any visible component being blue.

Whether we can get practical amounts of light out of this, even if it does work, I have no fucking clue, but it might be amusing to try.
>>
>>33017229
I'm not a science guy but I have some ideas.

If a target is wearing any form of heat-conductive equipment, like metal , we can easily superheat it by concentrating the suns rays on that location. We wouldn't have to get up close and personnel, just wait until they boil inside their own suit.

We may be able to redirect light away from eyes, blinding them without causing lasting damage.

If we got glasses/monocle/magnifying glass we could use it as a focus for our lasers.

Do gamma rays count as light? If so, we could give someone cancer with a glance.

Well, I ask for that and for Charlotte to make Cecile and whoever she ends up with matching outfits.

We slept with her last night and are currently wearing her clothes.

If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck...

Operation hajidere must be a success.

It's a goose?
Irene still best route.

A man to my own heart.

Honestly, unless things turn sour with Charlotte, she's pretty much the designated waifu. Theresa and Mina are ex and might not be over each others, and Irene is almost an antagonist at this point.

She may be trying to seduce us for her own purposes.
>>

>Irene is almost an antagonist at this point.
We really, really need to fix that.

>>33018738
>Irene still best route.
I like green hair too.
>>
>>33018898
I don't mind waifuing Charlotte but we should definitely try to mend things with Irene.
>>
>>33018922
Yeah, and Irene might actually be able to eat anything because she's secretly The Thing and is preparing to annihilate humanity. Possible, but highly unlikely.
>>
>>33018956
OH SHIT! WE NEED TO BURN HER!!!
>>
>>33018956

To be fair we haven't slept with Irene... yet.
>>
>>33018973
Wrong century, man. Witch burnings haven't been done for ages.
>>
I wish I'd been around to vote to eavesdrop on Charlotte's report. Puma in the room or not, confirmation that Charlotte is not secretly evil would be appreciated.
>>
>>33019038
NOT A WITCH, SHE IS A THING, ONLY WAY TO BE SURE!!!
>>
>>33019065

But we did vot to eavesdrop. It's only because we were worried about the puma that we didn't go with it completely, which is probably a good thing, because, you know, a fucking puma is watching us.
>>
>>33019031
I would never sleep with Irene for the simple reason that if she's sleeping somewhere, Archibald is nearby.

And if he isn't nearby, that means she isn't keeping an eye on him and he could be doing god knows what.
