Welcome to Academy City. The time is afternoon, the weather is warm, and the date is August 23.

You are Kyril Torikov, ‘Level 2’ Telekinetic Child Error and you were lounging about in a café with your girlfriend and your ‘adopted’ sister. The three of you had been talking about meaningless topics for the most part. It was a strange sight. Earlier this morning you had been gift shopping for Kaoru. Her birthday was coming up. The party was set for the 25th of August, two days away, so it was a bit last minute. She had invited her friends, which included both you and Asuka. Honestly you weren’t sure why. You hadn’t been the best friend for her and as far as you were aware, Asuka had beaten her senseless in a fight once. Still, you never liked passing up the opportunity to attend a party.

That aside you also had other things to worry about. You had to settle Last Order’s identification for one. It didn’t help matters that the little cone of Sparky in question didn’t mind what kind of name you picked out for her. You had shared that burden with Sparky but the two of you didn’t think you could agree on anything except to disagree. Still yours was the last word. You had narrowed it down to two options. All that was left was to call Toulour.

Another was your investigation in to STUDY Corporation. They were the most suspicious clients of your boss who owned a junkyard in the 17th. A lot of people were willing to kill to get in to his position. You just wanted to see who exactly was behind all this. Perhaps it wasn’t that simple but having a potential lead was better than nothing. You recall Asuka knew about them.

Your plan for the afternoon was,

>Finalise Last Order’s paperwork
>Investigate STUDY Corporation

Let's deal with LO first, I don't care what name we use, but at least it's better than dealing with the worst part of the Railgun anime. I mean we could be trolling the shit out of the Angel Fall Arc, just by seeing the Angel's aura and the fact Touma still knows what his parents look like.
>>
I want nothing to do with STUDY. I'm going to pretend that they don't exist.

Sparky and BatSaten can handle it.

Yeah, I don't really see a reason why we should get involved with STUDY. I don't remember crossing paths with them.

They are the folks after our boss. Who is a cool guy who taught us a bunch of cool shit. So they are going down sooner or later.

They're trying to intimidate/kill/steal from our boss, who has been nothing but good to us.

reason enough for me to get involved.

Sparky and them can handle the dumb parts, but they don't get away with messing with our boss whose' done nothing but dare to dream.
>>

Actually all we saw was that they were making suspicious orders, no evidence that they were intimidating our boss.

Using meta they sort of hate espers and are unlikely to have hired that fire esper we fought when we first started working there.

And also, Last Order is more interesting than our boss.

Better get it done now before something else came up you thought. Excusing yourself from the table, you found a public payphone in which to call Toulour with.

“Afternoon Torikov, could I interest you in a trip to Paris?” Toulour had an unusual greeting this time.

“Is this payment for your services?” you asked.

“Well no, not exactly. Oh well maybe some other time, what can I do for? Did you decide on a name yet?”

“Yes actually, I have two.”

“Using both to conceal the other huh?” his tone turned thoughtful, “Not a bad idea given how many people have asked around for her. I’ll need you to pass me the papers to duplicate and the two names to be used in person. Then we’re going to have to distract the Goalkeeper while I alter some records. Tell me where you are and I’ll come find you.”

You did and about fifteen minutes later, Toulour showed up and you handed him the papers. The Goalkeeper, who you were going to distract, was apparently the best hacker in Academy City. She worked for Judgement. More specifically, she worked at Office Branch 177. It was familiar to you, as was the mug shot of her. Uiharu Kazari was the last person you’d think of to be the best IT security specialist the city had to offer. That made it easier and harder at the same time.

“Why am I not surprised?” Asuka added, “This may complicate things.”

It was true. Uiharu was the only person who worked there. The last person you’d want to meet Last Order would be Shirai. Given her ardent affection of her “Onee-sama”, it was just a bad idea in the making.

“Aside from that, now that I’m here is there anything you want to ask me before I go?” Toulour spoke, “Save you some time.”

>>
>>33003712

We need a slightly foolish and silly adventure to distract Uiharu. Maybe asking her (as someone obsessed with ojou-samas) to help us find a gift for Asuka. This would pretty much ensure that Shirai wouldn't come, but that she'd be away from her computer.
>>
How would Uiharu react to a molotov through the window?
>>
>>33003712

Get some info on the paris trip. (Why? When? How? etc.)
>>
“Well if you don’t mind, I think I have a suspect for Number 3’s problem, could you check them out?” you started.

“Sure, I can do that,” Toulour smiled.

“STUDY Corporation.”

“Give me a day and I’ll get back to you on that,” he shifted his glasses, “But off the top of my head, they’ve recently been involved with the Endymion, don't know what though.”

“The space elevator?”

“The very same,” Toulour confirmed.

“Dear are you still attempting to figure out who has been trying to kill your employer?” Asuka asked.

You gave her a nod.

“I assume you came about that name while looking through his records,” you nodded again and she sighed, “And this is why you may never amount to anything dear. It seems illogical of me that a client would murder their supplier for a small chance to take over. Rarely does it work out and the risk is great. Rather than investigate his clients why did you not instead investigate his rivals and contemporaries?”

“It’s not like there’s that many rivals to consider missy,” Toulour argued back.

“Perhaps, but it is worth consideration.”

He shrugged then adjusted his glasses as they slid down his nose from the action.

“My boss aside, what about LO, who’s after her?” you changed topic.

“Who do you think?” Toulour asked back.

“Ex-Level 6 Shift researchers?” you guessed.

“And more, but they all have their own reasons for it,” you gave him a worried look, “Now don’t be like that, we’d give you fair warning if anyone from THIEF wanted her. I can look in to it for you if need me, it’ll cost you a bit extra.”

“I’ll think about then,” you replied, “And that trip to Paris?”

“Oh that?” he pushed his glasses up again, “We got an invitation from Lupin IV, rite of passage sort of stuff. I’d imagine they’d ask you to steal the Mona Lisa again but I honestly don’t know what they want. Up to you if want to go.”

[1/2]
>>
>>33004591
That was all the questions you had for Toulour before he left. As soon as you could get Uiharu away from a computer, the faster he could make those records permanent. He didn’t need your signal as he’d have someone watching on his end. All you needed now was a grand or silly adventure to draw her away.

“I suppose you wish to spirit her away momentarily?” Asuka asked, “You are such a lady killer, leading poor middle school girls about.”

“I’m more worried about Shirai honestly,” you admitted.

“Chances are good that she would be patrolling at this hour of the day,” Asuka answered, “But why take that chance, am I correct?”

“You think we can bribe her?”

“Perhaps but it is not me you should be asking.”

How were you going to distract Uiharu?

As for the other plans, talking to her would require some sort of con anyway, the truth would ask too many questions and she'd probably find out about LO. Asuka could distract her, but she's not exactly the best at making friends. The prank call would take about 5 seconds for her to trace it back to us, and then send Shirai to investigate.

>>33004790
Is probably our best method. She is somewhat obsessed with the Tokiwadi girls, so we could roll with that, maybe seek her knowledge on their interests.

>Something other plan
Alternatively, considering how Saten likes her pranks, maybe we should enlist her help to distract Uiharu.

Now that you think about it, the core of the problem was Uiharu having access to a computer. You recalled she had a laptop wherever she went so calling her out was not an option. That was when the idea struck. After all, this was for Last Order, it would make sense to use the Misaka Network for this, not to mention the original. They were electromasters. Shutting down electronics was child’s play for them. Having them all interfere was probably overkill but you could never be too cautious.

“Hey aniki, what’s up?” she greeted.

“Sparky, you remember what you said about hacking in to the city databases for Last Order?”

“You want me to do it?” she sounded unnaturally eager.

“No no, that’s not the problem,” you answered quickly, “I’m afraid Uiharu might not make it stick.”

“You want me to run interference then?” she was more subdued, “How do you want me to do that?”

“Doesn’t she love to gossip about Your Highness?” you answered, “Work the charm of the Ladies of Tokiwadai on her or something.”

“I guess,” she seemingly shrugged, “I’ll tell you when I have her attention alright?”

“Don’t worry, I’ll have back up.”

“Huh? What’s that supposed to mean?”

You hung up on her.

“Last Order, how many Sisters do you think we can commandeer for a mission?” you turned to the tiny clone.

“There should be four that are nearby now. Says Misaka says Misaka as she informs you.”

That should be enough then you thought. Sparky sent you a text saying that she was taking Uiharu out to a nearby josePH’s for some ice cream. That was suboptimal. Hopefully, the Sisters could jam cell phone and wireless signals. You had asked Last Order to round them up as three of you made your way closer to the target. Asuka had not bothered to interrupt, save to inform you that your hare-brained scheme was amusing.

The four clones, numbers 10032, 10039, 13577, and 19090 had rendezvoused in a nearby alley close to the family restaurant in question. It was actually quite stunning to see such a stoic face on Sparky’s body. The assault rifles packed in instrument cases and some weird kind of goggles added to the effect.

“Misaka is ready for duty Kyril-nii-sama, says Misaka as she reports in for duty.”

The four of them speaking in monotonous unison was also unnerving.

“I did not think you had that kind of fetish dear,” Asuka now interjected.

They turned to her.

“Do not worry Kudou-sama, Misaka will not attempt to pursue a romantic relationship with Kyril-onii-sama, says Misaka #10032 as she reassures Kudou-sama.”

“He has chosen to adopt Last Order, says Misaka #10039 as she explains further.”

“Thus Kyril-onii-sama is our brother, says Misaka #13577 as she concludes.”

“According to the present cultural and societal norms, having a romantic relationship with Kyril-onii-sama would be,” the last one paused for effect, “forbidden, says Misaka #19090 with great embarrassment.”

Asuka’s right eyebrow rose.

“No comment,” you deflected and turned to the Sisters, “Your mission, if you choose to accept it is to jam all communications going in and out of that building until I say so.”

They only nodded at that and got to work, surrounding the block. Even if they were Level 3, as you were informed, they had more than enough power to jam a signal. With the four of them working in concert around the building, no amount of ECCM would stand a chance. The only problem now was Shirai. Why? Because she was making her rather quickly in the direction of the josePH’s not a minute after the Sisters started their jamming. Even if the Sisters were masters at stealth, Shirai was probably going to ask Uiharu why she hadn’t picked up her phone and then the whole thing could unravel.

It wasn’t like there was anyone else to distract her with so you and Asuka had to bump in to her. That was after you had left Last Order in the temporary care #10032. There was a portmanteau of what who you were about to act like. It was ばかっぷる, literally, a stupid couple. Admittedly you didn’t want to be a one trick pony but there was no point in fixing what wasn’t broke. After all, if her focus was on you, then the Sisters could do their thing which meant Toulour could do his. It was all for Last Order’s sake after all.

“Ara, fancy meeting you here Shirai-san,” Asuka started.

Shirai took one look at the both of you and her face soured even more. The game was afoot!

“Kudou,” her gaze left your girlfriend, “Torikov, if you don’t mind I am quite busy.”

“Busy enough to not stop us from getting to trouble I hope,” you added.

“Really?” she was even more suspicious now, “What you do in your own time should really not be my business.”

“I do wonder sometimes,” Asuka ignored her, “at what age is one allowed to legally adopt a child?”

“Now now dear, we don’t have to rob cradles,” you spoke, “We could always just let nature run its course.”

You think that she was turning an amusing shade of red.

“If not for that damnable Age of Consent law I would already have had my way with you dear,” Asuka pointed out.

“But what about close-in-age exemptions?” you asked.

“I hadn’t thought of that,” Asuka admitted.

“No, no, no, I will have no more of this,” Shirai was livid, “That is too much information.”

She teleported out, to where, you had no idea but it wasn’t the end of the world. Toulour had informed you that the deed was done. Thus you dismissed the Sisters, only to see Shirai, Sparky and Uiharu come out of the restaurant, all red-faced. They hadn’t seen you, nor Last Order yet.

You turned to look at Asuka. The both of you knew what the other was thinking. This wasn’t over. #10032 hadn’t had much problems looking after Last Order for a bit so you thought it should be alright if you left her with them longer. It looked like they were going to have their own fun anyway so it should be alright. You gave them your number anyway, just in case. That settled, you felt, somewhat more at peace with what you were doing. Was this what parents felt, you wondered briefly before your mind was set to task. Now that you may have gotten her with words alone you had to up the ante.

Thus Shirai, as well as Sparky and Uiharu were confused to see Asuka feigning distress along their path. Oh the look on their faces when you jumped in to “save” her was worthy of a scrapbook.

“Hold villain,” you had to exaggerate as much as possible.

Asuka’s assailant was only an assistant and they were quickly chased off with your bold declaration of intent.

“Oh my hero,” Asuka played her role as badly as you did.

The kiss was genuine however, sloppy as it may be. You felt yourself teleported from your girlfriend’s arms. Shirai was as ever livid though Sparky seemed amused as Uiharu seemed completely taken by your theatre.

“Oh you are such a spoilsport Shirai,” Kudou pouted.

“Why?” Shirai just seemed tired, “Why me?”

“Turnabout is fair play,” Sparky answered.

“I was honest about the issue of adoption too,” Asuka added, “I am not sure if you would ever find a good man to start a family otherwise.”

“Don’t you dare start Kudou,” she warned.

Sparky did take you aside for a minute as Asuka and Shirai traded more barbs.

“So it’s done? What name did you choose in the end?”

“Well I couldn’t decide so I just used the two best ones.”

“And they are?”

“Well I guess I could tell you one. It’s Mishka Torikov.”

“So she’s your sister now?”

“And yours too,” you added.

>>33009312
“That’s good then, I guess,” she finally said.

Clapping her on the back, you returned to Uiharu, who was still daydreaming, Asuka, who looked smug, and Shirai, who was glaring daggers and dirks as you. She probably didn’t like your arm on Sparky’s shoulder.

“You,” Shirai wasn’t finished apparently, “Get your hands off of onee-sama.”

“Hey now, that’s no way to talk to my aniki,” Sparky protested.

At that, Shirai sank to her knees and slumped down defeated.

“You know, I think I am feeling pity for her at this point,” Asuka commented.

You weren’t sure if you agreed.

The scrapbook can wait until the rapsheet is longer.

We should probably try to avoid being with lots of Misakas at once to keep the clone thing somewhat under wraps

While the idea of a scrapbook held some kind of mystical appeal over you, you realised that leaving Last Order alone for too long was asking for trouble. That and the Sisters were military clones. You didn’t think common sense was high on the priority list when it came to their education. After giving your excuses, you and Asuka parted ways with Sparky and her juniors. The Sisters and Last Order hadn’t gone far. They were discussing something.

“Misaka wants one, Misaka wants one too! Says Misaka, says Misaka as she attempts to leverage her cuteness.”

“Such tactics are wasted on the same gender, it will not work on me, says Misaka #10032 as she gives a thorough explanation.”

You decided to watch it play out, curious as to what brought this on. Asuka seemed to agree as the other three clones watched on. It didn’t take long.

“Hey, #10032 can you bow for me? Says Misaka says Misaka as she ask a favour.”

The little squirt swiped the goggles from the older clone, presumably #10032, did so.

“Haha, you’re open, says Misaka says Misaka as she exclaims in triumph.”

She didn’t get far as you grabbed her by the collar and lifted her up easily.

“She reminds me of someone, doesn’t she dear?” Asuka remarked.

“Kyril-onii-sama, says Misaka as she expresses her surprise and relief,” the four of them spoke to you.

It was a good thing you decided to not leave them alone. Who knows what could happen if you let Last Order on the loose if this was what resulted.

Bored really could turn this into something nice.

>Getting beat by Touma prompts the waves of dumbasses attacking Accel
>Lv0 Albino Girl gets caught up in the stupidity
>Accel sees her getting attacked by group of dumbasses
At this point it can branch off in a few different ways depending on how much SUFFERING Bored wants to slather it in before deep frying. He could have lv0AG die after Accel's initial indifference and it bothers him enough to kickstart the de-shitification process, he could just straight up step in and save her because reasons and justify it as the fight being in the way while he was going to get coffee and he was just preemptively getting rid of the idiots before they accosted him, or maybe some other thing. Maybe she just gets all up in his face and pesters him (or at least she thinks she does) while he walks around soundproofed but eventually something happens. Or something else, because I'm sure it could go more ways than just those.
>>

You could never pull off the “do as I say, not as I do,” routine. That and you’d be a hypocrite. Thus if there was going to be a thing you were going to scold Last Order for, it would be getting caught, and stealing from family. You weren’t sure your disappointed older authority figure face was working though. The recipient of many such stares before but this was the first time you had to be on the other end. Hopefully you didn’t look angry.

“Last Order,” you started, your voice low, “Do you know what you did wrong?”

Her face fell.

“One is that you stole from those close to you, your family,” you looked her in the eye, “And second, you got caught. I’m very disappointed in you right now.”

You thought she was sniffling at this point but you couldn’t give in now.

“Please give #10032’s goggles back to her,” you set her down, “and apologise.”

Your grip was still firm on her back as you gave her a light push towards the goggle-less #10032. If Last Order was attempting to use a sob story on you then it wouldn’t work now.

“Misaka is sorry, says Misaka says Misaka as she apologises to #10032.”

The older clone almost snatched the goggle out of her hand.

“Thank you Kyril-onii-sama, says Misaka #10032 as she thanks you for the help.”

Turning to the little one she spoke again,

“And your apology is accepted, says Misaka #10032 as she grudgingly gives #20001 another chance.”

“But Kyril-onii-sama, isn’t stealing against the law? Says Misaka #13577 as she asks for confirmation.”

Yep, which is why you don't want to get caught doing it. Lots of little moral dilemmas to consider before you decide to steal something, but if you're going to commit to doing it, don't get caught.

“The law is more like a guideline, it’s not always right,” you started, “I’m pretty sure cloning you guys were against some law, somewhere, and if I followed the law all the time well I wouldn’t be your older brother today.”

While the Sisters were stoic, Last Order was probably thinking the same thing as they were. She had lapsed in to a thoughtful look.

“But that’s only if you get caught,” you weren’t done, “There are consequences for stealing so if you’re going to do it, do right and don’t get caught.”

“You could have added, ‘the law offers protection to those who follow it,’ if you wanted to sound wise,” Asuka interjected.

“I guess,” you answered.

“But enough of that boring topic,” she continued, “It is time for dinner and I do wish to try out this new recipe I have obtained from my uncle just this morning.”

“And what about them?” you gestured to the Sisters.

“Ah, Misaka has to return to the hospital for further adjustments, says Misaka as Misaka tearfully declines a chance to have dinner with Kyril-onii-sama.”

You don’t think you’ll ever get used to them talking in synch.

“Then maybe later,” you promised.

“Yes, yes,” Last Order bounced back quickly, “Onii-san’s waffles are the best, says Misaka says Misaka as she praises onii-san’s cooking.”

The comment earns you another raised eyebrow from Asuka. You gave her a grin this time, as if challenging her to do better. Whether Asuka accepted or not, you wouldn’t know. Tonight she made a Thai dish. It was American Fried Rice, or so the translation went. It emerged from the era of the Vietnam War, when the Thais serving GIs on leave got fed up with the soldiers using up bottles of ketchup on rice. They cut the middleman and that was how the recipe was born. Or so Asuka’s uncle had told her. Aside from that, dinner wasn’t particularly noteworthy and before bed you curled up with a copy of,

Double billing. That interlude idea got me thinking. Want more slice of life? When writefag and /tg/ meet, the story begins.
Really want to continue writing but I have to prepare a picnic and QMing with the stove on is asking for trouble. I’ll be here to answer some questions for a bit before I flop on to a bed. Also possible double billing this weekend. Why? Because I’m heading out to Paris for Japan Expo. If you ever wanted to murder me, now’s your chance. I usually hang about the Mahjong booth. That also means I’m not going to run at all next week until I get back.
