I am gonna break your Immersion /tg/. Yea you heard me.

In my fantasy setting guns HAVE NEVER BEEN DEVELOPED. In fact gunpowder doesn't and cannot exist!

Also. Mortal combatants can do things like draw weapons, move 30ft and disarm while attacking a person all at the beginning of their careers.

Also. Golems and Dinosaurs both exist in this world and occasionally come into conflict with one another. In fact, Clockwork is existent in this setting!

Also different cultures haven't communicated over an extended period of time leaving different regions wholly isolated from one another culturally.

Wow that is a really big crab
>>
>>32873758

What the hell does it eat?
>>
>>32873773
Anything it can fit in its mouth.
>>
>>32873773
Slightly smaller crabs, which eat smaller crabs.

It's an entirely crab-based ecosystem.
>>
>>32873758
It kinda scares me. Look at it's mouth.
ew.
>>
>>32873786
It looks like that giant mouth and those huge claws together could probably fit anything inside, though.
>>
>>32873792

Are you saying that these crabs are the apex crabs? Surely even the smallest crab on the crab-chain has to eat something OTHER than crabs? Or maybe they're a form of "recycling crab" which feast on the remains of the apex crabs?
>>

The lowest species of crab in the crab-chain is capable of photosynthesis, though it resembles a crab in most other regards.

We don't know the context of that apex crab's situation, though. Maybe it's lost.

Maybe it's a crab delegation to negotiate fairer and more equal shares of fishing rights between crabs and man.

Congratulations OP, you've made an OC donut steel setting. You're an untalented hack and I hope that you have fun with your setting.

>>
>>32873920
Hey. I think a setting with giant crabs is actually pretty interesting.
>>
>>32873920
I don't get what so special about it, besides the 30ft animu disarm moves.

also, Clockwork repeater crossbows can act like firearms, I guess. Not much use against apex crabs, tho.
>>
How do you stat an apex crab?
>>
>>32873908
Maybe it's trying to destroy the human city to protect its own city. Maybe the crabs just communicate by slamming their claws into one another. And this attempt at communication failed miserably.
>>
>>32873920
That is a really big crab
>>
>>32873908

Or maybe Apex Crab grew sick of eating nothing but fucking crab all day. Maybe Apex Crab want prime rib, maybe Apex Crab want brag to Apex Crab down the street about eat at new restaurant that no serve nothing but crab.
>>
>>32873934
So are the crabs sentient? Like we've established that it's an entirely crab based ecosystem, but is there a crab society, wherein the larger crabs(maybe they call themselves Kings) subjugate the lower crabs in order to feast on their succulent white meat, while the lower crabs do the same to the level below them until you reach the Photosynthesis crabs?

Maybe you could even stage some sort of coup. Like a battle of some sort.

This massive creature scuttles about with surprising speed and grace for its size. Its shell is brightly colored in shades of deep orange to bone white, and its twin claws are both sharp and large enough to behead a horse with one slice.

Monstrous crabs are scavengers, and they feed upon the reeking bodies of dead sea creatures that wash up on shore. Despite this, they aren't above attacking still-living creatures upon sight, since monstrous crabs are always hungry.
>>
>>32873908
Humanity does not negotiate with crabs, obviously.
>>
>>32873969
>wanting to build your city on the back of an aquatic animal
I'm not saying it isn't a cool idea, but you're gonna drown.
>>
>>32873976
Combat

A monstrous crab is straightforward in combat. It lumbers forth toward the nearest target and attacks with its claws. Once a monstrous crab has a morsel or creature in each claw, it retreats into the water to feed. Creatures held in its claws when it does so soon drown if they can't breathe water.

Constrict (Ex): With a successful grapple check, a monstrous crab can crush a grabbed opponent, dealing 1d8+9 points of bludgeoning damage.

Improved Grab (Ex): If a monstrous crab hits an opponent that is at least one size category smaller than itself with a claw attack, it deals normal damage and attempts to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. If it gets a hold, it also constricts on the same round.

Powerful Claws (Ex): A monstrous crab always applies 1.5 times its Strength modifier to damage inflicted with its claws. Additionally, it gains a +4 racial bonus on grapple checks.

Vermin Traits: A monstrous crab is immune to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects). It also has darkvision (60-foot range).

Now take all that, and multiply by d20.
>>
>>32873933
>>32873934
what do the scabies think of the crabs?
>>
>>32873987
Well, it's either a dome city or a crab that doesn't go underwater because... of... reasons. Crab reasons. Maybe giant crabs are prejudiced against smaller crabs and think that underwater is a place only fit for food and smaller crabs (who are also food)
>>
>>32873987
Make it a Merfolk city. They used the Apex Crabs to invade human settlements on the coast for daring to fish in their waters, or their just a horde of violent people, like fishy Mongols. Maybe that's why the Apex Crab let them build on it's back, so that he could carry them away from the ocean where they were wreaking a reign of terror.
>>
>>32874011
What if the crab is so big it can't fit underwater?
>>
>>32873433
>Classic_Blunder.jpg
>>
>>32873979

It was human arrogance and intrusion into crab territory that started the war. Don't act coy with us, Anon. Everyone knows the lesser crabs were subject to genocide by human fisherman.

It is the duty of the apex crabs to defend crabkind and restore balance if humans won't negotiate their surrender.
>>
>>32874011
Oh. So it's a city for crabs. Thought you were referring to something else. Well it could be that the photosynthetic crabs need to be on top of the Apex Crabs to get the sun necessary to produce food. Which is then consumed by the other crabs.

Maybe the Apex Crab doesn't go underwater because it doesn't have to? So it's like a once-in-crab-lifetime opportunity to see the big C go into the water. From this, new photosynthetic crabs are born, and thus the crab-driven ecosystem continues.
>>
>>32874015

What if they don't live on the Apex Crabs' backs, but build their homes in little cracks and indentations in the shell itself? Or even inside of the Apex Crabs, like little fucking parasites. Or even in their joints or something.
>>
>>32874015
“I am the punishment of God...If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.”

-Crab Khan, Giant Apex Crab

Giant Crabs are too big to sustain themselves with physical food, so they invade lands to feed on terror
>>
If the ecosystem is solely based on crabs, are the people living in that city crabpeople too?
>>
>>32874040

What if the apex crabs' shell is actually a shitload of photosynthetic crabs clinging to whatever is under a crab's shell? Who knows how many layers of shell and crab you'd have to pierce to find the center of an apex crab. There might be even smaller crabs down in the deeper layers, feeding from the apex crabs' soft and juicy bits like lamprays or something.
>>
>>32874045
> like little fucking parasites
I like that idea. Maybe that's why the Apex Crab is attacking a human settlement instead, it's trying to form a symbiotic relationship with the humans.

"GET THESE FUCKING GAY MANFISH OUT OF ME"
>>
>>32874057
maybe
Or they could be colonists from earth, trying to set up a settlement on crab-planet
>>
>>32874040
Naw, I meant a real human city. Although, if it's a dome city or
>>32874045
paraside city, they could still keep photocrabs on the outermostest shell. Probably a good source of food, along with some fughi and seaweed. Also a crafting material, unless you have trade mission to shore or resupplied by... blimps or something.

Maybe some ancient empire uses giant crab cities as sea fortresses on the lookout for giant crab riding Merhgol invasions
>>
>>32874057

How are we not sure that apex crabs aren't simply biologically engineered Überkrabbe designed to be guardians of smaller crabs? Their unnatural size would come from the need to defend against and wage war on humans and other land-based predators. Each apex crab probably has an entire city's worth of crabs under its protection.
>>
>>32874102
"They are strange and misguided children; crabs who have spent too much time in the Net, listening to the humans speak of trucks, of lifting, of driving. They have forgotten the Apex and the Order. We pray they return to the ocean one day."

None of you were there when the crab shocktroopers broke our frontline and pushed into the city. I still remember that horrible day. The smell of blood and shellfish mixing with smoke and napalm. The screams of women and children as these huge shelled bastards snipped civilians into pieces.

My best friend took down at least a dozen of them before they scuttled on top of him and started to tear him apart. If it wasn't for him buying our escape helicopter time, I wouldn't be typing this right now. God, I can still see visions of that apex crab looming over the entire city tearing it apart like it was a sandcastle.
>>
>>32874118
So the Apex Crab is really more a product of humanity's own failings, and is simply taking back what rightfully belongs to the crabs.

In the end, the greatest monster of all isn't a horrible giant crab that's able to destroy entire cities. No, the real monster is us.

>What, did we invent giant cannibals to help combat the crab menace by eating us and our children?

When martial law was enacted across the planet to wage war against crabs, what happened to those cities the crabs took over was a fate worse than death. Apex Humans don't just eat smaller humans, but they give them a purpose. Every life they consume fuels the greatest weapon mankind has to fight the crab menace. Only a fully fed Apex Human has the strength necessary to break the shell of an Apex Crab in hand to claw combat.

It the duty of every sacrifice to know their life wasn't just a meal, but the fuel man needs to end the war against crabs once and for all. How many Apex Crabs could there possibly be anyway?
>>

God damnit, can't find it. It was a postapocalyptic setting where bronze aged cultures lived atop gargantuan crabs in order to escape the deadly briny mudflat that was extending across the world. The crabs got bigger as they aged, with smaller crabs trailing behind larger crabs feeding on scraps. Sometimes a daughter crab would get so large that a group broke off from the main crab and colonized it.

Knights proved their worth by travelling from crab to crab until they found one small enough to break to their will and then guided it back towards the city crab (avoiding being eaten by intermediately huge crabs) .

I wish I could find it in the archives

See, this is what I don't get. Why the hell are those pilots flying so close? Even if they fired their missiles (which can engage targets beyond visual range) there is no reason to fly that close to use their guns.

Related, there is no reason at all for fighters to be flying in between buildings unless they are suicidally desperate to escape someone on their tail.

It annoys me if movies do either of these things. But hell, I guess it looks cool... TO IDIOTS
