Characters and Gunpla: http://pastebin.com/LBeWi6qs

You are JACK FOULKE, an amateur Gunpla Fighter with dreams to make your own mark on the Gunpla battle scene!

You actually can't remember the last time you were actually excited to go to school. Maybe it was because of the thought of finally being able to test out your new GN Drive equipped GM Juggler, or as Holly called it, the "GN Juggler".

It wasn't totally perfect, though. Holly decided to put limiters on its performance since she was afraid the GM's frame couldn't handle the stress of Trans-Am. Well, you'd unlock it if you could, but the problem was that you didn't quite know how, at least not without risking damaging your Gunpla.

Homeroom starts just like it always does, incredibly dull. However, your homeroom teacher steps in and coughs to gain your attention.

"Class, we'll be having a new student as of today. Please come in."

And that's when you see Charlotte walk in, confident and with a smile on her face. Immediately the room falls quiet and you can tell she's made an impression, especially among most of the guys and maybe quite a few of the girls. You, meanwhile, were busy trying not to cry out in surprise, managing to restrict it to a choking cough. Lucina and Mac silently glance at you and you just shrug back at them.

"Would you care to introduce yourself, Miss Dumont?" The teacher says.

Dumont?

"Hi everybody!" Charlotte waves cheerfully. "I'm Charlotte Dumont. I hope we can all get along!"

"You're free to take whatever seat you can find." The homeroom teacher drones on.

You don't want to draw too much attention, so you just give a slight wave, which she manages to catch. Charlotte takes a seat near the back, as close as she can get to you, and you quietly and surreptitiously swap desks while the homeroom teacher wasn't looking. It's not as if he would really notice or anything.

"I see you got enrolled." You whisper to Charlotte.

"Yeah, well, when your parents aren't around, it's surprisingly easy to boss the hired help around." Charlotte grins. "It's uh, kinda intimidating being among so many people, though."

"You'll get used to it." You assure her. "What's up with the last name, though? Dumont?"

"My mom's maiden name." Charlotte shrugs. "I sorta thought going in with my actual last name would attract attention I seriously did not want."

"You have a point." You nod.

"So hey, um, what are doing for lunch?" Charlotte asks.

"Ah, we'll probably go to the team room. Get you properly inducted!" You grin.

"So, like uh, how does the whole lunch period thing work?" Charlotte asks.

"You don't know?" You raise an eyebrow.

"Like uh, do you bring your own lunch, or do you buy it? This whole school thing is new to me!"

It was almost too cute.

"Well, the vast majority of us buy our food from the cafeteria. But I mean, if you got the time and/or cooking ability, I guess you can bring your own food."

"Oh, good, because I think my cook made a bit too much."

She has a COOK!?

"What's... with that weird look?" Charlotte blinks.

"N-nothing..." You sigh and shake your head.

The first few class periods pass by in a flash as you try and weather the storm of lectures and note taking. During the morning break, you see Karen passing by as normal However, she looks a bit... flustered? Distressed? She certainly didn't appear to be her normal, refined self.

well that was due to many newbie pilots being in them. by the time of the final battle the ones that survived were good enough to hold their own against Rookie piloted Gelgoogs.

>>
>>32767883
You know, a thought occurs to me: 00 often pronounces the "GN" as either "gin" or "gun" when it's in the name of a suit. And the GM is pronounced as "jim" . Which means that I will be very disappointed with Merc if our debut with the GN Juggler does not involve someone saying "It's a Gun-Jim!"
>>
>>32767912
But ours is a custom and GM's are built to adapt to any environment.

Also I find them pleasing to look at.

I doubt it's as bad as what's seen in AU gundams where grunt suits are nigh-useless. IN contrast GMs won the One Year war.

Ironically, Gundam Thunderbolt shows that the GMs that are assigned to working in the debris fields actually do have Core Fighters. Ones with extra thrusters for better maneuverability.

"I guess you could say that." She sighs. "Kenneth paid a visit to me yesterday."

"What did he do?" You ask warily.

"Nothing, except bring two of his biggest goons and just talk nonchalantly about the weather." Karen sighs.

"So... he was trying to intimidate you."

"Emphasis on the word TRY." Karen rolls her head. "Don't get me wrong. He hasn't shaken me or anything. I'm just more pissed that he'd resort to trying something like that, and thinking such a weak tactic would work on me."

"So what did you do?"

"I just sat there and let him talk." Karen shrugged. "Unfortunately, I forgot how much Kenneth loved to hear himself talk. I was stuck there for at least an hour."

If Kenneth is going to pull something like that on you, at the very least you can have some of us backing you up. Hell, all we need is Lucina and she'd kick their asses with her eyes closed."

"That's true." Karen smiles. "I'll keep that in mind. I trust you'll be stopping by the team room today?"

"Yeah, I'm going to bring Charlotte, too. She just enrolled."

"Really now? Having her on our side would be a great help to us."

The warning bell then rings, letting everybody know that morning break was almost over.

"I'll see you later then, Jack." Karen nods at you before leaving.

"Your... your COOK made you foie gras?!?" Your jaw drops as Charlotte shows you her lunch box, which was more like a lunch carrying case.

"Yep." Charlotte nods, unphased.

"Isn't that like, illegal?" Mac blinks.

"Not if you're rich enough, apparently." She shrugs.

"And it looks like that's enough food for four people." Lucina adds in.

"Yeah... Alton has this really bad habit of making way too much." Charlotte chuckles. "That was why I figured I'd just share it with you all."

"Truly, a goddess among on us!" Mac coos.

"Aw, it's nothing, really!" Charlotte laughs.

"At this rate we'd never go hungry again." You nod. "Heck, we'd probably just save all our lunch money for Gunpla parts."

"I like the way you think, man!" Mac grins and wraps an arm around your shoulder. "Anyways, I've been trying to figure out what to use my prize money on. You got any opinions?

Also, Alton? Is his last name is Brown? This is important.
>>
>>32768922
Question: Is the Liberator a limited-use thing, or does it provide constant benefit? Because there's some work being done with electrical reactive armor that uses electrical arcs instead of explosions to give it much greater endurance. That seems like something that could be modeled in Gunpla Battle fairly easily. And it would mean that he could punch people with lightning. If that's available, I choose Liberator. If not, Eagle Pack.
>>
>>32769032
Liberator armor is the explodey kind, because explosions make it more AMERICAN.

Too bad. I've always wanted a mecha that had that. Well, I suppose that Phase Shift in SEED is kind of like ERA, in that it uses electricity to protect the armor against ballistic weapons. But it doesn't let the suit punch with lightning. Oh well. Eagle Pack it is, then. Agility boost and support fire will be useful for a CQC suit.

So the rest of the teams' upgrades (that we've seen so far, at least) have me thinking : We need a theme. The other members of the team seem to be basing their designs on aesthetics. Mac loves America, Amy is a dark magical girl, Lucina's doubling down on swords...We, on the other hand, have been basing our design on practical considerations. At some point we need to adopt a distinct look to our machine. I feel like it will be essential to our eventual breaking free from canon technology concepts to build our own unique Gunpla. Let's come up with some piece of fluff that justifies us having something that while not stupidly overpowered, is quite different from anything anyone expects to fight.

At this point, you've finally reached the team room. This time, the whole gang is here. Karen is at her desk, filling out paperwork while her Obsidian Overflag stood there propped up next to her. "Hey, Jake, how's the Guntank going along?" You ask.

"Oh, pretty well, I guess." Jake shrugs. "It's more or less completely repaired.

"You know, I've always kind of been wondering." You say, taking a seat next to him. "But why a Guntank? Not exactly the most famous or well rounded of mobile suits."

"To tell the truth, I wasn't that big of a Gundam fan early on." Jake says as he highlights the treads. "I used to be more of a tank geek when I was younger, but when all my friends started getting into gunpla battle, I kinda just went with it."

"So the tank geek chose the tankiest gunpla he could find?"

"Pretty much, yeah." Jake nods. "Honestly, I would've rolled with the Type-61 if I could, but nobody really takes those seriously, and there's only so much you can do with them."

"Yeah, the Type-61 kinda sucked. No offense."

"None taken. I've learned at this point that tanks are pretty much underdogs in any mecha setting." Jake shrugs. "Just gotta make the best of it."

"SO you doing anything new with your TUSKER?"

"Sorta."

THIS. The biggest weakness of the Guntank is that it has no actual turrets. To fire on something, it has to turn to face them. This will help it so much. It'll be able to strafe with the heavy canons now, that's far more useful than the close combat stuff. Also, it will pave the way for it eventually doing a Freedom-style Full Burst attack with all its guns.

Why are we using a GM and not a Jesta? Sentimentality counts more than practicality. The Guntank is fun for him to use. He didn't want something that could turn into a mobile suit. Though the APC option is nice. Something like the Bloodhound Corps the Renado brothers used could be very nice.

Just a quick question: Is a Jesta more powerful than the RX-78? I don't know much about this stuff, but it seems like the latter model, even if it is a mass production type, should be more capable than a prototype.

"Maybe down the line." Jake shrugs. "But there was something about the Guntank when I first saw it. It just seems more like a tank than the Loto, do you get what I mean?"

"Ah, that would work, too."

Yes and no. If it was pure canon, then it definitely would be. It's sixteen years ahead of the RX-78. Much more advanced and capable. But this isn't canon. This is Gunpla Battle, and the RX-78's iconic status means that it has better available Gunpla of it. So it could easily wind up much more powerful if crafted properly.

Suppose this test is successful. What would Lucina and Karen think if the GN Drive equipped Balls could dock on their MS and switch out their GN Drives on the fly, if ever another 3v3 match occurs?

It could contribute to the longevity of their units if the match takes too long.
>>
>>32770422
Well, there are the various permutations of the RX-78 line. The one we see in the show is the RX-78-2. Units 1 and 3 were basically the same with some minor differences in armament. Units 4 and 5 started out that way, but got upgraded with enhanced reactors, boosters and weapons. Unit 6 got remade into the Mudrock Gundam, the Gundam equivalent of the Dom. Unit 7 wasn't finished by the end of the war, but participated in mop up operations after being upgraded into the powerful Full Armor 7th. Which reminds me, there are about a dozen variations on the Full Armor Weapons System that could be applied. I'm not going to mention those, I don't really care enough to. The Alex and it's Newtype use variant, the Netix, are both based on the RX-78. Plenty of good stuff there. The GP series Anaheim built are based on the Alex, so they're in line, too. And of course there's the Gundam Mk.II, which really should have been like, the Gundam Mk.VII, but those side stories were made after Zeta came out, so they're technically retcons.
>>
>>32770575
>GN Drive equipped Balls could dock on their MS and switch out their GN Drives on the fly

I really doubt that's even possible at all.
>>
>>32770575
Why would they need to? Lucina is running True GN, not Tau GN. Those things run forever. And Karen's suit doesn't have a GN Drive at all, unless she upgrades to make it the Obsidian version of the Overflag II.
>>
>>32770528
Something else to keep in mind is how well built an individual Gunpla can have a pretty big effect out how stong it is and then there's how good a fighter you are
This is partly why Charlotte is so great even when she's using her old red Zaku
>>
>>32770600
gotta say by the time of Zeta the MkII was so-so and noted more as a development piece (movable frame that was used in the Hyaku Shiki and Zeta gundam)

I suspect it's this that had the SRW Original version the Huckbein Mk II to be lack luster compared to original and its successor.
>>

"And I actually brought a new Gunpla I just built that I could use in the school without attracting attention." Charlotte grins.

"Oh? What is it?" You ask.

"I'll keep that a surprise." Charlotte grins.

>Who do you battle?
>>
>>32770670
Yeah, the Mk.II was never meant to be anything more than a technology demonstrator. The Titans had already started work on other movable frame mobile suits, so it didn't really matter if it got stolen. It honestly doesn't even make sense to have been built. Logically, it should have been something more like the Barzam Commander. Though it does serve as an effective dramatic device. The Federation forces building a Gundam, only to have it stolen and repainted into more heroic colors, is a pretty easy way to show "These are not the good guys in this story". The Psycho Gundam makes sense for them to have, though. It's a horrible monstrosity, them making it look like a giant evil super-Gundam is appropriate for the villains to do. Desecration of an icon and all that.

that and using the Gundam sign against spacenoids as to Zeon, the gundam was basically a symbol of terror/fear.

And I think that's why the prototype was in a Gundam form, a show of force/icon-ness. (in universe, your reasons are valid in the meta)

There's also the rarely known Gundam Mk III and Mk IV which are mainly sideline mechs. Not sure if the Nu Gundam would count as an entry on the RX-line or not as while it uses vairous new tech, the base in appearance design was the original.

Technically the Nu is based on the Silver Bullet, which is based on the Doven Wolf. Except Neo Zeon made the Doven Wolf by copying the design of the Gundam Mk.V. Which means the Federation copied a copy of their own technology. They really could have skipped a few steps, there.

>>
>>32771142
>Play defensive. Lure her into a killzone.

She is CQC minded. We need to stress our ranged advantage. Lets get to some where conspicuous while our balls wait behind terrain; when she closes in they will open up while we move away or press any advantage we see.
>>
>>32771232
I like her...
>>
>>32771202
I don't know, the Balls have twin autocannons, beam rifles, and three panzerfausts a piece. Our own suit isn't that impressive yet, since we've been focusing on a support role, but it should be good enough for most work. Beam rifles and beam sabers have never let anyone down. We should look into better weapons for the Juggler itself, though.
>>
>>32771232
Lucina's actually high tier for her choice of a FLAG, but I like Amy a little better.
>>
>>32771232
I like her. Just not as a romantic option. She's one of the guys, to Jack's mind. He wouldn't see her that way, at least not without some changes in their relationship dynamic.
>>
>>32771232
She's not a bad character at all, though her VMQ2 self had the misfortune of being on the recieving end of a stalemate break. If she gets in some good moments, she might actually win.

>>32771245
I'm thinking more adjusting the weapons as to take advantage of the new drives, perhaps looking into 00 Gundam-verse weapons.
>>
>>32771227
They're pretty basic. We just happen to have a lot of them.
Having the Balls go on the offensive would cut our firepower significantly, if the GM is left isolated.
>>
>>32771242
>>32771250
At least I'm not the only one at least
>>32771245
Well the ship doesn't hold anything really interesting for our GM.

I do eventually want to get it a heat knife and some panzerfaust do to them being inexpensive and the heat knife could be useful against enemies with anti-beam coating
>>
>>32771232
Meh her whole tough girl schtick is one of the cliches I hate in anime.
>>
>>32771245
>She's one of the guys, to Jack's mind
To you, you mean.

Remember, there's alot of voice yelling in Jacks head right now.
>>
>>32771270
The GN Bazooka on the Seravee could work. Two guns that can either split for rapid firing or combine for massive spheres of pink death. Give one each to the Balls, so they can do combo attack. The Balls will merge and then shoot a ball, it'll be great. And kind of stupid, but in an entertaining way.
>>
>>32771297
True but if we want to keep our Dakka style we could shoot for some Heavyarms style Gatling's or FA Unicorn Ballistics.
>>
>>32771296
Well, yes, it's just my subjective interpretation of how they've interacted with each other. The sleep overs and the banter suggest to me that they're too comfortable as good friends for Jack to consider romance. But hey, that could easily change. I'm open to the possibility, but I just don't see it as something happening yet.
>>
>>32771297
The weapons seen on the Exia and 00 Gundam can do nicely for both range and melee, though not sure if that's cross any mental lines, though I don't htink they'd be too bad as they're just gun/sword hybrids. Plus we'd have the beam sabers for back up.
>>
>>32771314
Good point. Also, I just realized that my idea would entail having a big gun with two Balls at its base. That...that would not be a good image. The dumb jokes would never end.
>>
>>32771142
You decide to stay on the defensive, keeping your Balls close. The thing about space was that it was really damn hard to hide, so you were going to have to be almost completely reliant on quick reflexes and speed to avoid danger.

However, you sensors blare a warning and you see Amy's Deathscythe approaching, her gunscythe in rifle mode and aimed right at you. Your Balls automatically begin to fire at her, but you have to decide what to do.

>Stay still so you can get a clean shot at her.
>Go evasive to throw off her aim.
>Other
>>
>>32771344
Why not have the Balls act as a combiner, instead of forming a gun, why not have them become weapons of their own, Holly used the hollow space to install a beam projector, we could do something similar.

We've got ECM and the Balls are providing suppressive fire. If she can manage to fire off a clear shot under those conditions she's welcome to it.
>>

>>Go evasive to throw off her aim.
Let's test that evasion.

>Have the Balls flank her
>>
I'm conflicted. In one hand, pairing up with one of of the girls (Imouto included) would make for some pretty good scenes to read. On the other hand, I still remember the VMQ2 days...

Terrible. Terrible.

Though I didn't mind Falynn winning. Better her than the trapbait.
>>
>>32771402
You want to charge into melee when she just got a melee upgrade? I don't think she'll be thrown off guard. I think she'll just slice us in half.
>>
>>32771362
>Stay still so you can get a clean shot at her.

She is trying to defend against our superior ranged capabilities by making us dodge instead of fire back. Stay our ground(mostly) and have the Balls harry her while we work on getting a good shot in.

You manage to score a solid hit on the Deathscythe, your beam rifle blasting the Deathscythe's right arm off and sending its scythe spinning off into space.

You can see the Deathscythe momentarily pause, as if debating on whether to keep going to try to recover the scythe. You think you've got her when the Deathscythe suddenly explodes into a cloud of rose pedals.

Immediately, your sensors begin shrieking warnings about being jammed. You scowl. Of course the Deathscythe would have some form of ECM. Your Balls abruptly stop firing, no longer able to pick out a clear target.

You narrow your eyes, trying to pick out Amy's unit visually, but you have no more luck with that than trying to find her on sensors.

Grab the scythe. We should be safe against ambush. We've got ECM, too. Possibly better, since we have three times as many emitters. We're also just as fast, and can watch in multiple directions due to the Balls. Staying in the cloud is arguably the best course for us. And if we can get her scythe we can prevent her from reclaiming it and shooting us some more.

>>32772186
Considering we're having a hard time picking her unit out something that's much bigger than the scythe. I don't see this plan ending well.

You lunge forward with a stabbing attack. However, you misjudge Amy's position and your attack is low, striking just above her right thigh at the hip. She whips her scarf around and it strikes against your shield. It doesn't cut it apart, but it leaves a very deep gouge in it. You certainly didn't want to get hit with something that can do that to chobham armor.

The scarf twirls in the air again. Your undamaged Ball, now having a positive visual on Amy, arms its autocannons.

And, surprisingly enough, none of the panzerfausts seem to hit Amy. All of the projectiles streak harmlessly past the Deathscythe as it closes the distance. The scar whips out again and you raise your shield to block it. Unfortunately, Amy doesn't aim for the shield this time, but the arm holding it. The scarf flutters past the shield, and then snakes around, slicing your Juggler's hand off at the wrist, sending the shield tumbling away.

You were now stuck in with Amy. You wouldn't be able to get away from her, and she was too close for the Ball to fire reliably. It was now or never.

We're testing out all of our conventional weapons and we leaned quite a bit so it's not a loss.

As it is, the Gunpla Club is hamstringing themselves pretty badly by constantly showing off their hand of super-moves. Barring us needing to learn a lesson and overcome our self-imposed limitations to become true Champion Material, there's no way in hell their overused super-modes can match the fury of out plucky underdog suit with a custom system lovingly installing by a family member and Ball enthusiast.

I'm not focused on winning. I'm focused on not using a stupid design feature that shouldn't even be on the GN GM in the first place. We've already established that Trans-Am is a separate piece of equipment from the GN Drive, so why did Holly put it on if it wasn't going to be usable? My guess? People like you ranted about it in the last thread about how useful it would be and Merc put it in to shut you up.
>>
>>32773409
This is a test battle between friends, not an important match, and if it were to be tried out at first it would be here, not in the heat of real battle. That's why sports teams have practice: to test out things in conditions that don't have anything riding on them.

>>32773418

You try to slash at the scarf, but you're just too slow. With one tug, and your Juggler gets cut in half at the waist.

BATTLE OVER

"Jesus, that scarf is pretty terrifying." You wince as the table powers down. "It's not like a beam saber where you can predict where it will be. That damn thing flutters all over the place."

"Yeah, but it's a bit tough to use correctly." Amy says as she scoops up her Deathscythe. "But really, I'm totally surprised it worked out so well!"

"It's a neat weapon, that's for sure." You nod. "It's almost impossible to tell if it's in scarf or blade mode. Really keeps you on your toes when that thing is out."

"Yeah, but those Balls of yours are still a pain to deal with." Amy sighs. "I even had to pop my countermeasures just to get CLOSE to you..."

"All right, we can do after battle reports later." Karen claps her hands loudly to get your attention. "As you can see, lunch break is nearly over."

You glance at your watch and wince. She was right. All of you quickly pack up your things and head off to class.

"Anyways, good game, Amy."

"You too!"

You take one last look at your GN Juggler before stashing it away. If you learned anything from this fight, it was that even with an upgraded Juggler, you still had to be careful how you played. After all, your opponent could do the same thing.

Perhaps someday you'll really push your Juggler to its limits with the GN Drive...

A weapon that we have no idea what we can do at this point. Or how long it will last with our Juggler. Great fucking weapon there.
>>
>>32773491
Exactly! Think of the narrative role of it. It's our super mode locked away for now until it can be properly mastered. We've got half a season of fights before we've upgraded enough to use it reliably. We can't just "test it out in a safe environment". That's so boring. We have to keep foreshadowing it. We'll work on improving it off camera, every so often consider unleashing it on the enemy when we're doing poorly. We'll do so at one point and have our machine backfire on us as a result, leading to a bitter lesson on relying on fundamentals instead of gambling on experimental tech. We'll manage to actually get it to work in one battle, but at great strain and risk. And finally, after we've had our mid-season upgrade to a new suit, we'll be able to use it's power to its fullest and utterly dominate the opponent with it. I mean honestly, it's like you people have never seen a mecha show.
>>
>>32773484
Thanks for the thread Merc. Also will you add the Head Vulcans or the Countermeasure Suite to the equipment list?
>>
>>32773537
Hi welcome to a quest. Fuck your narrative.
>>
>>32773513
So why test it in battle? Wouldn't it make more sense to have the GP Base create an empty arena so we can test it in an isolated scenario first? We can use it in battle after we've worked out ways to make it function more reliably in the first place.
>>
>>32773513
Their will be other practices anon, I think we have learned a fair bit thought with our juggler though.

Though our dice rolls were less then stellar though today
>>
>>32773537
we're thinking in practical term, not bullshit super robot terms and even in the latter I'm sure if they had a chance to actually test it in a way that won't cost them, They would.
>>
>>32773561
did you not see the choice "Test our GM Juggler" earlier in the thread, that's what the point of the battle was.

>>32773566
Assuming we get them and not thrust into actual combat or some other retard tangent anon ends up doing.
>>
>>32773500
It's more that I'm sleep deprived and basing my conjecture on a premise that the genre is soft sci-fi as hell so plot points are more likely to be based on narrative bullets than some kind of rational.

Basically it's an illogical argument because I'm purposefully not employing logic.

>>32773502
Are you implying that Kenneth, who's been characterized up to this point as a win at any cost douchebag is above such measures? Seems like a more valuable use of his time than trying to intimidate an old friend who's already familiar with his methods.
>>
>>32773585
ruthless doesn't always means smart or logical.
>>
>>32773579
Right, but the things we did test on the Juggler were things that were easiest to test out with an opponent. "How much faster can I dodge now?", "Does the ECM jam sensors well?", that sort of thing. But "Does the Trans-Am work at all?" is something that we don't need an opponent to test. It would have been a waste of time, especially if we just wound up exploding.
>>
>>32773579
We might or we might not, I thinking testing the conventional weapons was very interesting.

Testing the trans-am and failing wouldn't have really taught us anything though. right now I feel as a weapon it's not a reliable one and we should focus on our conventional weapons.

If possible I hope we can improve the AI and targeting system of our Balls.
>>
>>32773611
>>32773614
How do we know? we never tested it. You're just using flawed masturabory logic to justify things.

if we tried and we blew up, we'd know for sure not to try it.
>>
>>32773592
Fair. We are talking about highschool students after all.
>>
>>32773631
My point is that whether or not it works is something to test before we take it into battle, even a mock battle. It doesn't require the presence of an opponent to work on. Whereas the conventional systems do. It would not have been an efficient use of our time to experiment with Trans-Am when fighting Amy.
>>
>>32773631
Masturbatory logic? Says you and that one anon circle jerking each other forcing the issue.

We get it your pissed we didn't test it. We'll do it eventually but testing out conventional weapons are the priority though.

and we did and we learned. raging over it now while understandable is moot. We'll try again next practice and if we have a match with some other team we'll not use it and wait till next practice, it's not hard.
>>
>>32773651
then when then? It came up as it was a last ditch thing, implying the defeat (in this case) would be very soon.

That and if there was such a function, why even challenge an ally to a fight? Because testing in non-vaccum conditions, and in the case of the trans-am working, getting used to it.

>>32773668
You assume that we'll get a practice instead of a big match.

I bet you're one of those "Hurr durr no super mode guys" trying to futher your agenda sneakily.
>>
>>32773651
Honestly, with only a 15% chance to trigger the thing by default, we're probably best served only reaching for it when we need an 18 to win the roll-off anyway.

Odds are, when we need it, we'll be able to circumvent the limited and lower the target number.

>/tg/ dice in a merc quest

Boy you must be new here.
>>
>>32773680
and you assume that we'll get a big match before practicing, or not go to the shop to repair our Juggler and improve it conventionally/

What fucking agenda? Now your just putting words in my mouth without cause.

We're just testing, just because we didn['t test the super mode but rather test all of the conventional things the GN drive and our new armament gave us is important.

Focusing on the Trans-am and overlooking what we learned from the practice match with Amy is folly, and we did learn in which we can improve our GM conventionally.
>>
>>32773680
Well, you've got me there. It was a last ditch thing. I must be more tired than I thought, to not remember that. It's past six thirty AM, here. I've been up all night. You're right, we had a chance to test it and didn't take it. I'm still satisfied with the testing we did get in, though. I honestly don't really care about Trans-Am that much. I don't hate it, it's just not a priority for me.
>>
>>32773703
First off, the odds I referred to had nothing to do with dice.

Secondly, yeah, if we only need a 16 to win the test, I'd rather not waste a turn with "Failed to Activate Trans-Am" when we could be meaningfully contributing to the battle with a 17.
>>
>>32773724
your reasoning would have been believable if the option to use it didn't come up at the end.
>>
>>32773748
Why is it not believable now?

We tested the GN Drive during the shooting phase, the barrage phase, shaking someone off, and testing the panzerfaust, our shield, and speed.

The only thing we didn't test was how effective was the GN Drive in close combat. Which we learned now
