"You're a lot more ruthless than you seem, Recette. I like that." You turn away from her, not sure how to take the comment. Instead you focus on the fighters as they gear up. At last, the bets are all in and the signal is given. Immediately, Louie leaps into action, closing the distance and throwing a sharp jab into the Mountain's gut. The man hasn't even managed to bring his arms to the ready yet, but it seems he doesn't need to. Louie's jab is completely ineffectual, and in turn the Mountain swings a meaty arm in a not-so-clumsy blow that looks like it could've decapitated Louie if he hadn't dodged back at the last moment.

Taking two steps forward, the man swings again. Both fast and precise, this man is no hulking behemoth. He's a fighter through and through. The second and third blows barely miss Louie, but the third connects low with Louie's chest and sends him flying into the wooden wall to leave him sprawled on the sand. With a choked cough, he heaves himself back to his feet.
It looked painful but he seems alright.

Another flurry of blows, and Louie is once more sent flying across the ring by the Mountain. Alouette gasps, a look of horror on her face. Apparently this isn't what she was expecting.

Looking closely, you notice Louie's posture is the same as if he were sword fighting. His body offset so he can bring his shield up to guard himself. That's not very helpful to him in this situation, since he doesn't have one and his only real bet is to dodge. You decide to shout advice to him.
"Wear a helmet Louie!"

Your voice cuts through the noise of the crowd, catching his attention. He looks up to find the source of the voice. While distracted, the Mountain lands a solid blow to the side of his temple. As Louie eats dirt once more, you should your encouragement again. "See? Wouldn't have hurt if you were wearing a helmet!"

Louie pushes himself back up, a fire in his eyes now that wasn't there before. "Really, Recette? It's gonna be like that?" He casually ducks under another blow from the Mountain, returns it with a kick to the shin, then rolls around him to shout at you. "I knew you'd hate me, but I didn't think you'd be this petty!"

You take a step back, surprised by his sudden fury. Charme casually waves a hand at him. "Behind you." He steps aside at the last second as the Mountain crashes into the wooden wall. It creaks under his weight, but stays up.

The Mountain growls, pushing himself up off the wall, and turns to face Louie again. He doesn't finish turning before Louie's feet meet his face in a full dropkick. The Mountain hits the dirt hard while Louie barely keeps his feet, stumbling away a little before returning his attack against you. "Yeah, I remember perfectly well! You slaving me out over the pretense that a loaf of bread was worth a day's labor! That keeping me like a pet meant you had every right to send me to my death for your own gain!" He smashes his fist into the Mountain before he can stand up again, but the Mountain manages to flail a leg to bring Louie to the ground.

The suit waves his arms, shouting a signal to break. As per what little rules exist in this game, both fighters break contact, stand up and reset their positions. You can't help but notice the volume of the crowd as dropped somewhat since your little shouting match began, but that hasn't dissuaded Louie.
"And then Alouette, without even a second thought for her own gain, offers me bed, board, a real wage AND gets me a real licence. Unlike some other unmentionables." Alouette shifts uncomfortably at the mention of her name, though also seems riveted to the argument between the two of you.

As the two dive into another hail of blows again, Charme whispers something in your ear that you instantly echo in your angry tone. "Move your feet more, you're not a statue! Gah, I really should've bet against you." Louie roars in anger, taking a quick step back to avoid a blow that would otherwise have connected with his guarding arm like it did the last four blows. As the Mountain overextends through the sudden lack of resistance, Louie lands a swift uppercut to his jaw which sends the man reeling.
"It's good to know saving someone's life isn't even worth a day of work! Why are you even HERE if you don't want to risk your life?"

He snarls back at you, "I'm here of my own free will. Did you know that's something that human beings have!? Alouette has never once had me to do something without asking me nicely first."
The Mountain lunges forwards for a grapple hold, but Louie reacts first. A kick square into his belly slows that man's advance, lightly winds him and gives Louie even more breathing room.

"You never said you didn't like it! And you didn't even have the guts to tell me you were quitting!"

"I told you constantly that I didn't like it! Did you just tone that out because you didn't want to hear it? And no, I didn't tell you I was quitting. You would've made up some lame excuse about thinking about making it better, coerced me into continuing working and nothing would've changed."

Louie goes in for a counter attack, rapid punches to the Mountain's belly doing effectively nothing but put the man on the defensive. "Oh, so you would prefer someone to wait on you hand and foot? Maybe that's why you're punches don't do anything!"

"NO," he shouts back. "I just wanted what any person would call FAIR! A free man should not work like a slave!"

"You say free, and yet you're too scared of being coerced by a little girl to talk to her about it?" Pressing his own attack, Louie steps on and lets loose a right hook that bounces clean off the Mountain's face. "Put more power in it! Jeez, you're punching a man, not stroking a kitten!" A tone of exasperation enters your voice without your intent. "You couldn't even face me after getting your stupid licence?"

Louie's response is still just as harsh. "Scared of a little girl? Damn right I am. Can you really call yourself that anymore? You're more monster than girl. I'm surprised you haven't tried to have me killed yet. We both know you would've done it on the spot if I told you I was leaving."

With one almighty crack, Louie leaps into the air, both feet off the ground, and puts all power behind one last blow. He meets the Mountain head-on, smashing through the man's guard and connecting with his nose. The man falls with a thud, throwing up a cloud of sand and dust. The room goes silent in the aftermath, with Louie staring you down.
The Mountain does not move, blood tricking from his clearly broken nose.

"That's not- I," you stumble a response. Louie turns away without another word, stalking back through the gate towards Alouette. He brushes past both her and the suit trying to offer him his winnings.

The back-and-forth argument about what sort of play to watch goes on all the way to the theater, large enough to sport four separate stages inside! Finally, you're stood before the huge wooden building. There's not much of a queue for any of the plays, and they all start in about a quarter of an hour.

You grab her out of the air and stuff her into your inside pockets. After stifling her complaints, you walk through the doors to the fourth audience area and let her out again. Turns out this play is extremely unpopular, and you have the entire row to yourself. Lucky! Prime sits to your left, Charme to your right while you get center of the isle two rows back from the stage.

Despite your initial skepticism, it's actually a pretty good play. A young girl runs away from her parents in order to track down her sister, long lost to a deadly realm. Meanwhile, a young boy is also fighting his way through this realm in an attempt to piece together what's left of his scattered family. The girl's father spends the entire play trying to track the two down and bring them safely home.

You try not to let yourself get too attached, but their plight is riveting. Especially when it seems like the boy and girl are falling in love, thanks to the boy's dedicated efforts to keep the girl safe without accepting any thanks or sticking around long enough for the girl to repay the favor.
It all ends terribly though. Two young ladies that try to help the girl end up falling out when it turns out the taller one is in love with the shorter one, but the shorter one likes another of their travelling companions. The tear in the party is irrevocable, and they end up turning on each other. The young boy manages to rescue the girl once more before the gang finish murdering each other, before he, too, turns on her and almost kills her. She manages to kill him in return. The father ends up getting killed by the monsters inhabiting the realm right before he can catch up to his daughter, and the little girl finally finds her long-lost sister, only to discover that she's a decade-old corpse. In her grief, she ends her own life as the curtain falls on the play.

Well. That was grim.
You look to the two girls beside you to judge their reactions. Prime is shifting uncomfortably, while tears roll silently down Charme's face. "What kind of monster would write a story like that? Does he hate all lesbians?"
