You are Vance Smith, a bounty hunter mainly, but not afraid to take on any sort of job; your history is a mystery (see what I did there?), and it is up to the fucking QM to get to his damn backstory sometime soon.

Last time we left off, Vance was in the desert, when he met a beautiful, young lad named Ariel Emerald. After a bit of small talk and the execution of a mole rat, you both arrived in Gilmon and met a not so charming merchant and gained a badass hat and a hunting rifle, while Ariel acquired some actual clothes and a proper combat weapon. Both of you went to the bar to see, if you could find a job but no cigar, but it seemed at the end that Ariel has a little crush on you.

> Cuddling in the nuclear apocalypse? IMPOSSIBLE

No one said anything about the post-apocalypse
>>
>>32693041
You wake up in the bed, not as soft as you would like it, but at least it is not as hard as a rock. You feel Ariel’s arms entangled around you, as yours are around her. It was a dreamless sleep you awoke from, but the warmth of her against you was enough to get you up. Her eyes were still closed, but her breathing had a slow rhythm to it as you felt her against you, pretty odd for a person she just met yesterday. You slowly move her arm from atop you and manage to slink out of the spot and into the bathroom. You look into the mirror and see some of your long, brown hair sticking up, even though it is shoulder length you usually put it into a ponytail, but you still need to wash it anyways. Your beard short but neatly groomed from you could tell, which was nice to see. Your eyes make you look like a feral ghoul that has just eaten, half-closed and doesn’t give a shit. You put on your jeans and white T-shirt and go outside barefoot. You look around to spot a river not too far east and to the other side is a mountain range with ski lifts that must’ve been used before the apocalypse for joy, instead of making the mountains look more gloomy than they were.

What do?

but, if the water isn't too radioactive we should bring one bucket back to Ariel
>>
>>32693161
You leave Ariel alone, while you go to the river. Across the dirt and flatland, you encountered nothing but dead trees, as is the usual in a nuclear apocalypse. You take off your clothes and wade into the river, hoping you do not gain too many rads and no one sees you. The mud in the river squishes in between your toes as you get in, and the water seems to run a little warm for the weather at this time. First, you dunk your head into the water and wash it thoroughly, scratching through all of your hair to get the dirt out and rubbing off all of the residue on your skin. After that, you get out of the river as naked as your birthday and gather up your clothes.

These rolls. FUCKING HELL.

You try and sneak into the motel room without getting your clothes too wet, but to your dismay, on the way up the steps an adult sees you naked, but not just any average adult, the fucking salesman. He smiles and waves at you, while you scowl on the way back into your room to see Ariel up.

She turns around to see who is at the door to only find you, a naked man covering his manhood with clothes.

"So much for looking presentable in the morning...Eh... Slept well?" You say, trying to inch your way to the bathroom slowly.

"U-uh, yeah, and it seems I got an unexpected... wake-up call." Her cheeks were hot with red, but she only stayed to look.

"I hope you wouldn't mind NOT looking." You say to her; your pride, if you had any, going down by the numbers.

"Y-yeah, I c-can do that." Instead of turning around though, she jumped onto the bed face down.

You sprint to the bathroom faster than you have ever sprinted from a Bloatfly, or when you had to run from a naked mole rat, since you had no ammo. Luckily enough, there were towels in the motel room which was odd itself. You quickly dress yourself in your clothes after drying the wet river water off of you.

"You can look up now, Ariel." You say, rolling her over. She looks up and sees you fully clothed which brought a smile to her face. You grab your duster off of the dresser and put it on, sliding it over your slightly wet T-shirt and putting your socks and boots on.

"Dress up, young lady." You say, going back outside to get some fresh air. You lean upon the black railing that is chest-height, looking at the city that went from the silent of morning to bustling of the day, after a few minutes, but the sun was heading higher. After taking in the sight for another couple of minutes, Ariel comes out dressed in her regular garb of brown boots, white blouse, jeans, brown leather jacket, and leather boots. You escort her down to the bar building; the music different from before.

'Blue moon,
You saw me standing alone
Without a dream in my heart
With a love of my ooooown.'

The calming brass and strings washing over the bar; you two sit at the polished wooden bar. You order a Nuka-Cola, while she orders the same. The bartender goes over to the fridge that is surprisingly still running and brings both to you.

"Does this bar serve food?" You ask the bartender, leaning on the bar with your elbow.

"Wouldn't be a bar without it, kid." He points at the chalk board above the bar.

You order the Fancy Lads; you've heard they were delicious but have never had any before, and Ariel orders the same. The bartender went to the back to get them, and as soon as he was gone, he was back with two packs of Fancy Lads. You and Ariel opened the box to find that there were four of the little cakes in it. The cakes were brown with bread-like texture and caramel icing on the top with some vanilla icing on top that is made to be a cursive lowercase f and l; the size was relatively moderate and big enough for a breakfast. You both eat it, and the caramel icing on your tongue tastes rich with the vanilla icing dancing on your tongue. After that is done, you...

"I think we have some work, Ariel." You whisper to your companion.

"What do you mean?" She looks at you, "I'm not standing at a corner, am I?"

"No, I'll explain as we pack up." You pay the bartender and quickly tell her what you heard as you get everything together, equipping all of your weapons. You sneak out and leave the key with the woman in the building, while you can still see the two men on the road heading southeast. The cracked pavement keeps you silent for most of your steps, but it doesn't keep all of the noise away. Ariel follows patiently as you keep the lead.

"Stay hidden behind us." You whisper to Ariel. You head up to the men and see one of them looks like an NCR ranger. You approach slowly and walk alongside them, while managing to get weird looks from one, can't tell for the other, since he has a helmet on, but you can only assume it is the same.

"If you are with that damned salesman, we don't want his fucking blunt ass knife." The other man says, his big belly and scarred face meaning to be intimidating.

"I am not here to sell anything, but it seems like you are severely unequipped in the case of guns. Do you even have a close-quarters weapon?"

"I have my fists. That's all I need." He says, obviously irritated.

"Yeah, and when a man pulls out a knife on you, when you do not have any ammo?"

"I guess I do need a weapon, but we're heading to Red Cliff, so I might want to get one there." He says, his face relaxing.

"What are you two going to Red Cliff for?" You ask to both, but the NCR seems to be silent today.

"We have a job there, any chance you would like to make a few caps?" The man narrows his eyes.

"Not sure, if that's a good idea, bud." The NCR Ranger says through his mask; his voice distorted by it giving it a more deep tone.

"He's just a personal friend; he got a little lucky getting the armor." The man boasted.

"It was no problem, you just have to outsnipe the sniper." The man in the NCR uniform jests.

As you walk along, you start to see Red Cliff, a town near the cliff of the huge red rock of a mountain. As you approach, you look to see if Ariel is still following, and she is still a ways behind the group.

You three enter the town; the sun is still up, and you can see the mining caves the two men were talking about. All three of you start to look around, but the town seems very desolate from what you can see. No one is walking around in the streets; it just seems like everyone up and left. You hear a screaming coming from the cave, and all three of you walk up to the huge cave, where it is only darkness where you enter. You turn on the flashlight of your Pip-Boy and turn the brightness up.

You guys wander into the middle row, it is narrow, and the rocks look gray and big, so the cave seems like a dangerous place to linger, if this place is prone to avalanches, but you see no use worrying about that, if you are with these two. As you keep walking, the screaming is starting to give you a headache as you get closer, the ringing in your ears starts to get louder and louder; you can tell the other man are having trouble with it too. Everytime a higher note slips into the screaming, they wince at the pain and look like they're about to faint.

"I don't want to keep going..." The man with the scarred face says, barely being audible.

OUR BASED SAVIOR!

You wait and hear the heavy padding of paws and wait until it is close... Then you activate the fire.

"Fool them once, miss, shame on you." You say as you swing your sword at her knees, bringing her down as she extends out her hands to catch her fall.

"Fool them twice, shame on them." You swing at her hands, cutting them off and letting her land on her bones for her wrists, hearing her in agony.

"Fool them three times? You better bet your ass they'll kill you." You say as you bring your sword down on her head as you hear her screaming come to an abrupt stop, then her dogs came.

Two jumped at once, going for both shoulders, but you let the flame go out into darkness as you extended it forward, letting them gnaw on the blade until you set the blade on fire causing them to wimper and let go, but you hit one in the skull with the blunt end of the blade and then swing like a golfer at the next one, blood splattering all over you as you chopped it off at the neck, but then a Deathclaw showed up.

"Fuck." You say, dodging backwards as it brought both arms into a clawing grab, and you brought the blade down on one of the arms, chopping it off.

"RRRROOOOAAARRRR" You heard it go as it swung wildly with its left arm, but you ducked, letting the blow go overhead and then bringing the tip of the blade into its jaw and to the brain. Blood splattered all over you, you stand there exhausted after the fight.

You approach the dead ranger and look at his helmet, turning it around in your hands.

"Looks salvageable." You say as you undo your pack and put the helmet in there. The man that was under the helmet was actually a girl to your surprise; poor girl should've seen this coming. You take off her armor and set it aside as you take off your hat and your clothing. You put on the armor, putting on the pants and sliding into the armored vest, the warm metal getting wet with the sweat on your back. You put the duster on and then put on the combat boots in your full garb; you feel like a badass. You take her sniper rifle and the bandolier and put it in the pack. You reach into the pockets of the duster to find Blue's contract and a necklace with a blue sapphire inlaid in it.

You put the head in the sack and put it back on your back along with your weapons in their holsters and sheathe. You carry each body out, one at a time. You start digging with a shovel, when you hear steps behind you.

You wait for the right moment to seize him. He is 3 meters away...1...You see him lunging forward with a fist as you go under the hay-maker he was going to hit you with, grab his arm, sweep your leg under his foot, and he goes crashing to the ground.

"What are you doing out here, trying to kill an innocent man?" You say, holding his arm has he tries to struggle with it.

"None of your business, you fucking idiot." He growls at you.

"All bark and no bite it seems." You bring your leg up and force it down into his elbow, bringing his arm back into your direction as he is face down.

"AGHHHH", he yells like a fucking caveman.

"Now, can you answer it now?" You say, grabbing his other arm, "You better answer, or you'll look like the most fucked up spider I've ever seen."

"No, please, no!" He cries, a tear running down his cheek. "Look in my pocket! Don't break another!" You let go of his arm and reach into his pant's pocket and pull out a scrap of paper. You hear him sobbing, as you unfold the note, poorly scrawled reads:

'We have your little girl, meet us in the bar downtown. You killed my wife, so I might kill your little lady. We will have an exchange, a ransom maybe.'

Son of a bitch...

Well, everyone might wanna follow me, sorry if it sounds like I'm a robot for saying it, but it will keep you informed on when I will do my next quest! Plus, user interaction on there with direct messaging!
>>
>>32701356
while we're on the subject, there's a quest runner directory in the /qtg/, and most QM post a link to their quests there
these guys can be dicks, but your quest is enjoyable, so it should be ok

well if you have a laptop and a 3G (or better) cellphone, it's not hard to set up PDAnet and use your phone as a hotspot (even if your ISP would normally make you pay for that) nearly anywhere
