You are Zhu Xing, from the city of Xu Chang. Seeking out your destiny, you joined the infamous Dong Zhuo who took over the Han court and declared himself Prime Minister. You joined Lu Bu's ranks as a foot soldier, quickly impressing the man with your martial prowess. You followed Lu Bu in defeating lord Liu Dai's force. You participated in the defense of Si Shui Pass, where you fought at the vanguard. You managed to fight Zu Mao, an officer of Sun Jian, injuring the man before you had to retreat due to your own injuries. Because you were knocked out, you could not participate in the next few battles where Si Shui Pass was taken and the warlord Cao Cao was defeated by Lu Bu.

Character Profile: http://pastebin.com/UTDjnUuX
Part 1: http://archive.foolz.us/tg/thread/32664983/

>the difficulty of the game will be "medium." Death won't be lurking in every corner, but too many mistakes, stat check failures, and the like will mean the end of the character
>if the character dies, you can then play an heir to the character following him, or a completely new one if you wish. The goal is to get to a unified China regardless whether you "win" or "lose"
>try not to meta the game as much as possible when following through some of the famous events
>this will heavily rely on the novel and history, and little bit on Dynasty Warriors. So no, don't expect to rambo in 1000 soldiers by yourself

You spend a week resting and recovering your injuries at camp. Luckily, the coalition forces are also resting and reorganizing as well as they took numerous losses taking Si Shui Pass. You frown at not having been able to participate in the second day of defense of Si Shui and Lu Bu's ambush of Cao Cao due to your injuries. However, you must also count your blessings at not being dead. You take note that you should be more careful in the future.

By the week's end, your wounds are mostly recovered. Your head still hurts from the mace strike you received, and you feel slightly woozy at times. As you get up to do your duties, orders come in from the capital.

It seems the coalition forces are moving once again. Sun Jian is once again heading the vanguard. Dong Zhuo has elected to abandon the capital of Luo Yang, leaving only a few crack thousand troops to keep the rear. Luo Yang is ordered to be burnt to the ground, and the tombs of the ancestral emperors looted. You hear murmurs that many people opposed this move, and were summarily executed by Dong Zhuo for it.

Lu Bu is personally guarding Dong Zhuo as he moves to Chang An. It seems you are free to choose your actions... What do you plan to do? You are now Captain and command about fifty men.

>Participate in the defense. You are not expected to win, but to simply stall the enemy before retreating.
>Go loot the city. Time to get some valuables.
>Go along with Dong Zhuo's force retreating, acting as a guard. You hear there will be some light cavalry attempting to catch Dong Zhuo's force.

>>Participate in the defense. You are not expected to win, but to simply stall the enemy before retreating.

We may not be expected to win, but imagine how much HONOR and GLORY we will get if we do win.
If we really wanted to impress Lu Bu and make him a bro, we have to show him that we can effectively lead and claim victories on our own, rather than just following him around.

>Participate in the defense. You are not expected to win, but to simply stall the enemy before retreating.

While Dong Zhuo, his ministers, and a number of troops head out the western gate toward Chang An, you and your men head out the westward gate to fight outside Luo Yang. You are joined from the sides of other veteran warriors. Some complain and mutter they ought to leave Dong Zhuo's service. Normally those men would be executed, but there is no real central authority right now.

An hour as you leave, you look behind. Luo Yang is ablaze, and black smokes are rising. You can hear screams, even from this far away. The great ancestors of the Han empire is fading...

Reports come in that the enemy is now close. They are couple ten thousands strong and you know engaging in a frontal assault is suicide. You look at the battlefield. It is rocky terrain, with some dense light forests ahead. You are free to choose how to fight... Though you only personally command about fifty men...

What do you do?

>Take the high ground and put up a line of defense.

You order your men to take position at the hillsides. You know from your studies that the higher positions are always at an advantage. The other soldiers go and make their own lines.

The enemy forces are in sight. They begin to beat their war drums. You see at a distance that Sun Jian is commanding, while other lords are present behind him. He motions a command with his hand, and the coalition forces charge forward.

You command your men to hold steady and their lines and keep their shields up. When the first wave of enemy comes, you order your men to throw a hard tackle with the shields. It is a success, and the first wave of men falter back. Your men draw their swords, and taking a few steps forward, hack at the enemy. Many of the soldiers are killed.

You repeat these tactics a number of times, and the enemy is pushed back again and again. The other lines are holding relatively good as well. A captain of the enemy sees that your line is doing the best, and orders a volley of arrows sent your way. Your men are quick to form a shield wall and block.

The horns are blown, and the enemy retreat for a time. It seems the line has held with relatively few casualties. As you and your men catch your breath, one man comes forward from the enemy lines.

"I am Cheng Pu, valiant warrior under General Sun Jian! I challenge the best of you to single combat! Those who are not fishmongers and stableboys, fight me!"

It seems a duel challenge has been issued. You understand it is a tactic of the enemy to improve their morale and dishearten your own after the first lousy attack. Cheng Pu is known to be a strong and veteran warrior. But... Opportunities are here.

Do you step up to the challenge?

You remember that you are still injured from your previous battle. While you are itching to fight, you think it's best you stay back this time. Besides, your weapons and armors aren't even that good! And if you fall here, it could mean disaster for the rest of the line.

Your decision was probably a wise choice, though Cheng Pu mocks your lines before he returns to his own. The order to attack is called again and the enemy comes in full force.

Once again your own line pushes numerous soldiers back and earn kills. But as the enemy begin to add more supporting fire and begin to change their line of attacks with fresh new troops, the lines are beginning to crumble.

"The east block is slowly being pushed back! We need reinforcements!" calls a soldier from the back.

You look to the sides, it seems one part of the side is faltering. What do you do?

"Stay here and keep the lines. I'm heading off to the other side," you tell one of your men, gripping his shoulder. He nods, and drawing your sword, you dash off.

The line is broken on the other side. Enemy soldiers have managed to get in, and a thorough melee is ensuing. An enemy soldier knocks a private to the ground, and raises his axe to kill him. You dash in, slashing the enemy soldier from the side and killing him.

"Get up!" you yell to the fallen soldier who is bewildered. You raise your sword in the air and shout to the other men. "Fight! If this line falls, the entire army falls! Push them back here, and we will return to Chang An with riches and glowering faces awaiting us!"

Your Cha level is not much high, so your words only encourage the men slightly. Still, it is enough for a number of men to rouse themselves and push the enemy back. You kill several soldiers and manage to keep the formation in check.

However, the other lines are slowly being pushed back as well. There is no way you can be every where at once. A hard melee keeps ensuing for an hour. The enemy retreat once again, but your lines are tired and now have several casualties.

Luckily for you, the horns to retreat are blowing. The soldiers defending quickly begin marching away at the sign, relieved and not willing to fight another battle. The enemy that was just reforming their ranks are unable to pursue.

You yourself head in Luo Yang and head for the western gate so enemy cavalry forces won't mow you down in the streets. Piles of rubble and debris pile the streets and you see many dead civilians. There are still some fires here and there. Tombs have been looted to the ground. You are slightly sickened by the sight... Do you really wish to continue to serve Dong Zhuo?

>Head to Chang An quickly.
As much of a tyrant as Dong Zhuo is, you remember Lu Bu. He has treated you well, and he is a hero that comes once a blue moon. Even if Dong Zhuo might be bad, you still want to serve under that man. Shaking any thoughts of abandoning the force, you quickly head for Chang An.

The travel is a bit long and arduous, and it is night time. You see some slain Dong soldiers and peasants as you pass by. It seems some of the lower people rioted and attack Dong's caravan, though you understand from the dead bodies no one important was killed.

You are joined by several other soldiers retreating. By the time you reach Chang An, it is very early morning. Numerous soldiers greet you and congratulate you for being brave. Some of the peasants that are up look your way with disgust. They do not seem cheerful with yours and the returning soldiers' survival.

You return to the barracks, tired and worn out. You immediately fall asleep, without even taking off your armor. Unfortunately, your beauty sleep is interrupted in but a few hours. A soldier wakes you and informs you to head to the new palace. You grumble slightly, but orders are orders and you head there.

When you reach the palace, you are surprised to find that it is Dong Zhuo who wants to see you. You immediately dust yourself and head to the hallway where he resides. At the end of the hall, Dong Zhuo is eating from a plate of food, healthy and content. The damned fat block.

You bow in front of him. Dong Zhuo happily greets you.

"You! You are Zhu Xing are you not?" Dong Zhuo says pointing his chubby finger at you. "I hear you did well at Luo Yang. You killed numerous soldiers, and held the line even!"

He happily claps his hands.

"I reward good service well. How would you like to be an officer?"

How do you respond?

>>

Because most people don't understand pre-modern societies.

But how would Dong Zhuo know that? Why would he care? We are labeling ourselves cowards in front of our Lord. This is not how we make a name for ourselves.

We should, just to keep up an appearance of being humble. If he insists on the promotion, then we accept. Do you even Confucian values?
>>

There's a difference between pretending to be humble and kneecapping your chances to be promoted.

That write-in takes it past being humble and into a "Why would you fucking admit that?" territory.
>>
>>32685660
Yeah, the right way to be humble is stroking Dong's ego. Tell him that you can't accept any credit, and the victory was due to the soldiers knowing they fought for His Excellency, the true and rightful ruler of everything under heaven.

Phrased however seems best to not be outright treasonous to the Han, but giving Dong Zhuo the impression that if he were to take the throne we'd be 100% behind him
>>

You get on your knees, and kowtow to Dong Zhuo, clasping your hands together.

"This unworthy Zhu Xing humbly accept your lordship's offer. It was not by my strength that the Luo Yang was held, but by the grace and magnanimity of your lordship. Heaven surely watches over us."

Dong Zhuo laughs, and nods in a gleeful manner.

"Yes, yes! Rise my good fellow!" He says walking to you and raising you up. Some chicken grease gets on your uniform... But what does that matter.

"I will make you a very wealthy man if you continue to serve me well! I hereby decree you Commandant of the Guards!"

He places a hand on your back, and frowns for a moment.

"So many fools and rebels in my ranks, Zhu Xing. I am sick of them. I can only trust a very few and it disgusts me to the bone. I know what you will serve me loyally and well."

You nod and bow. Even if he is a tyrant, Dong Zhuo is a man who treats those he likes well. Maybe you can get along with him... Either way, things are looking very good for you.

A month passes. Your wounds have healed, and you have received good salary for your service (+100 gold). You hear news that the coalition lords have broken up and infighting has already begun. You hear rumors that Sun Jian found the Imperial Seal at Luo Yang. Yuan Shao in the north has begun fighting with Gongsun Zan. Cao Cao is gathering strength and talent at the east. Yuan Shu is fighting against Liu Biao, with Sun Jian serving under Yuan Shu.

In Chang An, Dong Zhuo continues his same habits. Hand maidens are taken, taxes are set high, mutineers are killed...

It seems there will be no battles for a while. Dong Zhuo's force is still recovering and there are still enemies all around. The Qiang tribes are stirring in the north, Liu Zhang defies Dong Zhuo to the south , and Cao Cao is to the east.

What do you do for the time being?

>Discuss fighting and other warriors.
As you take a bite of meat and some rice, you shake your head.

"I have fought numerous battles, and have only fought a few that gave me a challenge. It is tough to find worthy opponents. I can of course not compare to you, General. But do you know of any warriors that can give you a challenge, if any?"

Lu Bu nods, and thinks for a while. His face grows slightly annoyed after a few seconds.

"At Si Shui Pass, I fought some brigand. A stupid, lowly bastard, but he put up quite a fight. I was to smote his head in until his brother came in to help. I believe their names were Zhang Fei and Guan Yu. If anything, I wish to fight one of them again... And kill that whiskered fool," Lu Bu says with a little vile. It seems some things happened at the second phase of Si Shui that placed bad memory on Lu Bu.

"I also fought some man named Xiahou Dun when I trumped that Cao Cao. He was not bad. Otherwise, I hear there is some lad called Ma Chao with the Qiang tribes that is particularly strong. Yan Liang and Wen Chou are said to be Yuan Shao's best warriors. I hear there is some capable man serving Gongsun Zan, but I forget his name."

Lu Bu sighs.

"So many warriors to fight, so little time. I have to get my daughters married too so I can pass on more heirs. No sons sadly."

>Ask Lu Bu if he would like to spar
You nod, learning a few things about Lu Bu. You are interested in his daughters, but perhaps it is not the best time to inquire about them. There are plenty of chances in the future when you are more friendly and have earned more renown.

"General, forgive me if this may sound impudent... But how would you like to spar?"

Lu Bu looks at you amusingly.

"A spar? Do you think you have what it takes to fight me?" he says with a grin.

"Surely not, but I would like to see how I fare at the very least."

Lu Bu laughs

"Very well. Let's go out."

You both head out to the courtyard. You see that courtyard is not filled with flowers and vegetables like most noble houses, but training dummies and weapons. Lu Bu is indeed a warrior.

Lu Bu tosses you a spear with a dull blade. He takes his own, spinning it skillfully with the greatest of ease. His composure and body is relaxed.

"Come, show me what you have, Zhu Xing."

Dueling: In a duel, you will have three options to choose from: Strike, Slash, Sweep. Strike beats Sweep, Slash beats Strike, Sweep beats Slash. Same attacks will result in parrying each other.
(Strike > Slash > Sweep > Strike)

Yes, it will be a rock-paper-scissor format with me already having done the rolls on what the enemy will choose. War will great affect how much damage one takes and gives, so it is not all luck. Dueling items will give many different bonuses as well. If the enemy is mounted and you are not, you receive significant penalties.

You and Lu Bu clash your weapons together. Lu Bu is much stronger, and your body falters as you both parry. You go in for an attack to the side, seeing an opening, but Lu Bu manages to quickly dodge. You jump back as Lu Bu makes a hard pierce at you. He is not finished, as before you can barely react, he brings down the whole might of spear downward to you. You manage to parry, but his might is so powerful that you are pushed down to the ground.

You quickly roll away and make a sweeping attack at his feet to throw him off balance. It connects, but Lu Bu barely falters. He makes another lunge at you, and you lunge back. Both your spears connect together, but your own breaks from his might.

Lu Bu laughs, and throws you another spear.

"Not bad, Zhu Xing. Let's go a few more."

Taking a breath, you got for another attack, making a sweeping attack. He does the same, and both of you parry each other. You are however caught off balance from Lu Bu's force, and the man takes the opportunity to make another attack at you.

You barely manage to parry the attack. A part of the spear's shaft does hit you on the side however, and you wince a little. Your quick reflexes saved it from being much more painful.

With another breath, you make a last attack at him. He parried your attack, but with lightning speed, you follow up with a flurry of combos. He is surprised, but manages to dodge and guard well. You both swing at each other a few more before you jump back.

"Hah... Let's stop for today," Lu Bu says.

You are sweating, and short of breath. Lu Bu only drops a bead of sweat, but otherwise, his condition is much better than your own. You did well, but if this had been in a real duel, you would have been too tired to continue and surely killed.

"Well done Zhu Xing. I expect much more from you in the future," he says patting his hand on your back.

You chat for a while before departing his house. It seems you made a good impression on Lu Bu. Unbeknownst to you, someone else was watching and was moderately impressed with how you did against Lu Bu.

>Help the populace out and get some support from the people who already dislike your force

As the weeks pass, you begin to see patterns. Soldiers being abusive, peasants dying, lords growing fat... It's only fear that is keeping these parts from growing in to a full rebellion. At this rate, Dong Zhuo's force might not last forever... You decide to help the people.

You learn that in particular, the farmlands around here are troubled. The soil in the north is of poor quality and peasants have trouble growing food every single day. You decide to head to the farmlands and help out the populace.

You meat a lead farmer, who is surprised and afraid of your visit seeing your insignia. When you state you wish to help him, he grows even more scared and refuses politely. You insist on, and reluctantly, he accepts your help.

How should you help?

>>

>>
>>32687572
>>Help cut the barley around
The other two are recipes for us getting into conflict with other lords or Dong Zhuo himself. That could cause more problems, and not just for us, but also the people we're trying to help.

Showing that we're willing to get our hands dirty doing 'common' work is a much safer activity. It lets the people see that we're not so far above them that we cannot know how they live, it also gives us an ear to the ground so that we can hear how the common folk talk.

Plus, we are not so slothful as to reject a day of hard labor just because it is difficult.
>>
>>32687629
It might also be held against us engaging in peasant work. The opinion of our fellow officers matters more than peasants, and we can earn peasant favour anyway by plotting out farm land while retaining our command position.

>Help cut the barley around
You take a scythe, and quickly head to the fields. Your War stat and strength makes the job extremely easy. The other peasants around wash in astonishment as you slice down rows and rows.

Hours pass, and by the end of the day, you have helped significantly with the farm work. The peasants thank you with great thanks, and an old woman even kisses your head. The lead peasant hands you lacquer kettle, a rare antique from a long time ago that had been in his family for generations. You politely refuse his gift, but he insists and you take it with a nod of thanks.

Item: Lacquer Kettle (Better results if an officer visits your house. May also be given away as a gift)

Normally, you would have grown slightly stronger from this work. But it seems you are too strong to get any benefit from simple peasant work.

The people of Chang An appreciate you, and words of your deeds generally go around.

The Qiang tribes have always been trouble. They usually raid the north when the kingdom is weak, and certainly with the feuding lords today they become more active. You decide to ask Dong Zhuo for some troops to go out. Dong Zhuo is in a bad mood, he gives you a thousand troops but disregards you else wise. So much for all that gratitude a few months back...

You remember that Guo Si, Li Jue, and Zhang Ji got angry with you back at Si Shui. You're not sure if they remember you back when you were a lieutenant... But why take chances? You decide to go meet Fan Chou, whom you remember fought against Yuan Shu and did okay.

You and your men arrive to Fan Chou's camp. Fan Chou greets you personally. He is a strong man, though with a small stomach popping out, and a bushy beard. You are glad to know he's a pretty decent guy.

"Commandant! Greetings, I am glad to finally meet the man who did so well at Luo Yang." Surprise, he even knows of your deeds. "I am heartened that you brought some troops. These Qiang men have been giving us some trouble."

He hands you a map and shows you the enemy positions. You can see arrows pointing out small strike forces raiding villages. Further north of the map you see a square that indicates a Qiang encampment force. More westward, you see two different squares on the map of different colors. You ask Fan Chou what that means and he tells you there are two Qiang tribes feuding. The two tribes are not too hostile as of now, but they are no friends of you either.

I like this plan, maybe break up our forces though.

I see two plans.

First: have the majority be in the raiding party, have them blitz the camp with fire. Then have the rest of the forces protecting the people for the counter attack.

Second: A smaller raiding party and when the Qiang follow, have the raiding party lead them into an ambush.
>>
>>32688062

I prefer building on our strengths. Our political score is low while our war score is high. A successful raid will likely boost our leadership while also helping us befriend a fellow officer.

It's the lowest risk option for us.

>>

We are smart but our cha is low. We will need a good plan for it to work. But we know little to nothing about them.
>>
>Go strike against the enemy Qiang encampment
You combine your forces with Fan Chou to make 3000 men. You declare to Fan Chou that you both should attack the enemy main force... He seems a tad reluctant, but agrees. You initially came to just stop the raiding Qiangs, but why not earn some glory by defeating a part of their main force? You both lead your armies northward, and come face to face against the enemy encampment.

They are about 6000 strong. You are 2-1 outnumbered. What do you plan to do?

>Set up strong defenses, taunt the Qiang to attack.
>Attempt a night raid attack.
>Plan an ambush and lure the Qiang to a trap
>Meet them in a straight up fight with a duel.

You tell Fan Chou that you should both set up an encampment a few li away. He agrees and you both spend some time setting up. The Qiang sees your force, and they begin preparing themselves. You order guards to be strictly on watch and on duty.

Night falls. You grab a few hundred men are gather them behind your camp. Fan Chou is surprised when he sees, and you tell him that you are planning a night raid on the enemy camp. He states he will follow up with you and you gladly accept his help.

You, Fan Chou, and your men dress lightly and quietly march to the enemy camp. You all successfully infiltrate. As the Qiang patrols change their turns at guard duty, you shout and order your men to charge.

The Qiang are caught surprised. Your men kill the guards who put up little fight, then begin torching the camps. Great confusion runs in the camp and the Qiang soldiers begin fleeing in terror.

You lead a strike force against the enemy commander's tent, but guards move to stop you. You and your men kill them, but by that time, the commander has escaped. With a curse to the gods, you and your men quickly retreat back to your own camps before the Qiang can regroup and kill your small scores of me.

When morning comes, you, Fan Chou, and the soldiers celebrate. While it would have been nice to kill the enemy commander, you did score a nice victory. A large part of the Qiang force still remain, but they decide to retreat for now. A direct fight against them may have inflicted more casualties and more glory... But it would have done the same to your side, so you call this a win.

You begin to return to Chang An. Fan Chou thanks you and appreciates you, and fighting together, it seems you two have become friends.

When you come to Chang An, you report the victory to Dong Zhuo. He doesn't seem that impressed with the Qiang forces still intact, but throws you a praise nonetheless. Some people begin to say you are a good general.

And so the intrigue begins
>>
+3 lead, +1 war, +1int.

And done for this night. I have a tight schedule work the next few days, so next game will be at Friday, 20:00 PST. Thanks for playing!
>>
>>32688183

If we get another 30 (likely since fatty is in a bad mood), probably not.

Winning a battle outnumbered 2-1 is a victory in my books. Dong Zhuo can suck it

Fun game, thanks for running. Are you going to set up a twitter for this game?
>>
>>32688224

Thanks for running, OP.

Will you setup a twitter for updates and notifications?
>>
>>32688224
Enemy forces lessened, forces routed, and casualties on our side minimal to none.

I'd mark it as a win too.

Good night, thanks for the thread.
>>
No twitter. I don't feel like there are many important updates or anything that need to be up for that. Unless a crisis happens, schedule will always remain the same. If a crisis does happen. I'll throw a notice at the Quest Thread Generals.
>>
Next time: we visit lu bu sempai again.
and woo his daughter
>>
>>32688258

Thats the thing, I'd rather not step into QTG.

Otherwise, like today, kept refreshing the catalog to see if the thread was up. With twitter, I can see new notifications rather than having to do it manually.

Oh, and I should do this at the end of every session. I'll evaluate how well the players did, and tell what would have happened if you made other choices, unless they will spoil events that will happen in the future.

Choosing to have gone with Dong Zhuo would have either earned you favor with Dong himself, or Diao Chan who was with the caravan. Small chances at injury. Looting the city would have earned you 100 gold, and an additional 200 gold if you would have decided to loot the Imperial tombs

For Luoyang battle, choosing to have been behind as archers would have earned little glory but no chances at injury. High rolls allowed MC not to get injured when making a defense line. The ambush and fire choice would have needed a high roll to succeed because the enemy was capable Sun Jian who would have sent scouts. It was a good decision not to choose that.

Cheng Pu would have been a hard duel. Would have to get good rolls, and done good counters to beat him. The likely outcome was MC having fought a fair battle and retreating back (Impressing some of the enemy lords), or being defeated and retreating back (Super low rolls would mean death)

Decision on Dong Zhuo's offer was good. Other choices would have insulted him and gained you no Cha.

Decisions with Lu Bu were good. Asking about his daughters beforehand would have annoyed him, but not wanting to kill you. Trying to meet one of his daughters needed a decent roll due to low Cha. The duel had really low rolls, but counters made it so MC didn't get squashed.

Other events remain classified.

Eh, I'll think of setting one up then. Don't feel like maintaining an account though.

It sounds like we were fairly competent today.

The twitter account would be fairly low-maintenance.

You would really only log-in to (1) Post the next run-time, (2) Post a reminder few hours before you run, and (3) Post the thread link when you run.
>>
>>32688345
Is there any way to try and create an advantageous situation in these decisions (such that we can roll for best of, not average)?
>>
>>32688345

I look at all that money and i salivate.

Then I remember that looting the imperial tombs would a terrible idea. I assuming that would give us a big moral and influence drop with the coalition leaders, right?

The Qiang tribes business is hidden? Right. Still, this is pretty cool.
>>
>>32688345

Our solid defence of the line must have impressed the warlords abit right? 'That bastard won't die and the line won't break'.
>>
>>32688345
Hey, can we brainstorm up some heirs/relatives real quick?
>>
>>32689110
>led your own gang, picking fights with the other local kids and causing trouble
+
>traveled the country, learning many different things and picking up various talents

I was thinking this could be our sister, but traveling around the country and forming a gang of odd warriors seems especially derivative of a certain anime right now, so our brother maybe?
>>
>>32689110
Hey, if we got killed, would we have to do a Cha Check to see if our heirs would care enough to avenge us?
>>
Did OP ever give a specific schedule on what days/times he'll be running the quest?

I don't know when to look out for part 3..
>>
>>32688384
Advantageous situations come if you make good decisions, or choose decisions that are safe and easy.

A mob of peasants riot and you decide to kill them with cavalry? Advantageous roll and probably don't even need a high roll to succeed.

>>32688426
Sort of. They saw the unit and thought they were pretty badass, but then again, they don't care that much nor have they heard your name to see you stand out. As of now, the populace of Chang An and lords around may have heard of you. Yuan Shao who is way north and concerned with other matters wouldn't care for you at all.

>>32689110
Idea here is that you need to find a wife and sir some son or daughter, as you are relatively young and in need of an heir. Back then marriage was about politics, making connections, and making sure your next in line was secure.

If the guy dies with no child, then you can go as younger brother/sister to go with the legacy. Or just play a completely new character. As of now, younger brother and sister are yours to throw around as marriage tools since you own the clan.

>>32689301
Playing heirs and how they act is up to you. They can be jerks and not give a shit for Zhu Xing, or go on a bloodlust rampage, whatever.

>>32689799
Friday night. 8:00 Pacific Time.
>>
>>32689906

Question on mechanics.

When do you decide on using pol or cha?

Say encouraging troops is obviously cha but how about advising a warlord on taking a different political action? Would that be cha, pol or both?
>>
>>32689955
Depends on the situations, but if it was specifically political, both. Convincing anyone to do something political will use both stats most of the times. How much the person trusts you, your connections, and how well known you are will all raise success chance.
>>
>>32690038

Thanks for the clarification, OP.
>>
>>32689906
On advantageous situations - have there been any decisions so far that would've let to such rolls?
>>
>>32690078
Nope. Defending the villages from Qiang raiding parties would have been advantageous rolls, because they would be small units and untrained.

In situations where I deem there is no real danger, I won't roll and will give a success. In situations where you could possibly see something going wrong and a screw-up, I'll give a roll even if the situation is advantageous (Such as one of the Qiang raiders managing to hit you with a bow if you chose to defend the villages).
>>
For anyone still here, we should consider taking time to go meet with Wang Yun, next thread.

Gotta get the political wheel turning.
