CREW ROSTER: http://pastebin.com/qVD3DM17
TANK ROSTER: http://pastebin.com/UCXDAajg
THE SHOP: http://pastebin.com/ZMy4Q2sq

You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

You and Nancy run around the neighborhood in the wee hours of the morning, ostensibly to shave off the weight you’ve been gaining since at least the past month. Muscles your ass, you want to be FEMININE and LITHE AND PETITE like the other girls. The girls who actually get spouses and the like.

Good god, you sure as hell aren’t going to end up the wife of some bodybuilder. That’s going to be a nightmare in comparison to becoming fat and immobile.

You and Nancy huff, your breaths turning into fine mist in the chilly hours of the morning. The sun is barely coming up as you turn the next corner for the final stretch home. You’re dressed out in sweatpants, t-shirts, and zip up hoodies for the venture, along with wearing the gloves that Kitten gave you.

Nancy hums happily, smiling as she runs alongside you as you desperately work those carbs off. Fuck having fat thighs, there’s a limit to that.

Ah, the song stopped. You pull out your iPod and cycle through some music. You need some to get you home.

What should you listen to?

You huff, slowing to a walk. Nancy slows her pace alongside you. You say, “Jeez, Nancy. You got some endurance in you.”

Nancy giggles. “Oh, it’s a little bit of having to deal with an older brother and having to work a lot in the days!”

“Figures,” you say. You spit on the sidewalk and wipe your mouth. “Tell you what, Nancy. Have we got a date for the Anzio match yet?”

Nancy says, “Well, they called me, said to me in Italian, Thursday they arrive at the earliest. I’ll find us a nice little space, we can settle things after Thanksgiving perhaps.”

You nod. “Right, right.” Oh right, Thanksgiving. Your crews are probably out visiting family, it might be difficult to get them all together for practice today, might have to settle that later though. You say, “Well, Nancy. I look forward to it as all. Get some experience below the belt and all that with an experienced team!”

“As do I!” says Nancy.

You hit the play button. “Let’s go home!”

You and Nancy sing along.

Ain’t no mountain high enough!
Ain’t no valley low enough!
Ain’t no river wide enough!
To keep me from getting to you, babe!”
>>
>>32634928
You continue singing as you run up the driveway to your house. “Ah, Gertrude!” Dad is at the door, dressed in his good business suit. “I’ve got breakfast out for you!”

You nod. “Thanks, Dad. Hopefully it’s not pancakes, I am on a diet now to keep me from gaining more weight!”

Dad looks at you for a second, then laughs. “Ahahaha! A diet on the eve of Thanksgiving!”

You pout, frustrated. “Daaaaad!”

“Gertruuuuude!” says Dad back as he welcomes back in. “Come on. I didn’t raise no girl to waste her food. Besides, it’s your favorite. Pancakes!”

… shit, he’s got you there.

You arrive in the dining room where sure enough, there are pancakes. Plenty in fact. Griselda and Preston are at the table, gobbling it all up. Nancy settles down with a plate, while Dad reads the newspaper.

PANCAKES, YOU EXIST BECAUSE YOU ALLOW IT, AND YOU WILL END BECAUSE YOU DEMAND IT. AAAAAHHH

“Gertrude, slow down,” says Dad simply. “You’re going to choke.”

You groan, or try to groan. It’s muffled by your cheeks expanding quite a bit from all the syrup and pancakes thrown into it. You wish you could cook half as good as your father. You swallow, then sigh deeply. “Jeez. So Dad, how’s work?”

“Ah, the big guy is taking a visit to China in January. I have to brush up on the phrases like, ‘How do I go to the bathroom?’ or ‘I’d like some soup please,” he says.

Griselda nods. “Bfaghmgg-“

“Don’t chew with your mouth full, Griselda,” says Dad.

Griselda swallows. “Be sure to bring us back some souvenirs, Dad!”

Preston blinks. “Oh, yeah, I never asked. What is your line of work, Mister Pool?”

You say, “Dad works for the diplomatic office. It wasn’t always like that though.”

“Nope, nope,” says Dad. “I pray to God you don’t remember the days before I got the job.”

Griselda giggles. “Ah, it’s water under the bridge, Dad. Now look at you!”

“Of course,” says Dad. He checks his watch. “Ah, I better go.” He stands up. “Got some work needs doing.” He bends over and kisses you on the cheek. “Gertrude.” He quickly walks over and kisses Griselda on the cheek. “Griselda.” He pauses a bit. “Griselda, clean that syrup off your cheek.”

Griselda huffs. “You’re not the boss of me.”

“No, but the ants will be,” says Dad. “I’ll be back later tonight. Food’s in the fridge if you want it.” He grabs his hat and exits.

You receive a call.

“Yo, Lisa, what’s up?”

“Not much. Just filing through sponsorships again. I assume practice is cancelled today? Everyone’s been wondering that before they go home to their families.”

“Well, I’d like to see later. Um, what’s up with sponsorships.”

“Well, that all depends. Are you free Saturday?”

“I might be.”

“Well, I got in contact with a certain someone. How would you like to be sponsored by the Washington Nationals?”

“The Nats? What, by Jayson Werth, Denard Span, Rendon, and McLouth?”

“Well, not the players, just the guy who manages the team… and I can’t actually guarantee the Nationals will actually sponsor you, but it’s a good way to get some attention! All you’d have to do is go to Navy Yard, sing the Star Spangled Banner, that’s it, you can leave anytime you’d like. You up for it? It’s a night game too so you got time to work on stuff beforehand.”

“Well, it’d seem like a waste of money if the team you were rooting for were to lose.”

“Of course.”

“Anyway, just another thing. Is practice cancelled for the week? I know the practice matches are on but I don’t think anyone’s going to appreciate having to stay by LGA for the week, considering this is the only week they’ll get to see Family until December at the earliest.”

Do we have the T-34 and the Pershing available? I honestly don't know, it's not listed on any of German's things. If they are, then I'm okay with it.

Actually, there's a list of people who SHOULD come to practice: Juniors, Seniors, Exchange, O's, and Cheerleaders. For everyone else except the trainer it's optional, doubly so for the Sewing Club since they don't have a tank right now.

Of course, we should absolutely go as well. Lead from the front.

“No obligations. Whoever can come, just come. Griselda told me we can hold our practices up at NOVA Armor Museum. Thank god.”

Griselda says, “You’re welcome!”

“Alright. Oh, Ramirez might not make it.”

“Why not?”

“You know, I honestly don’t know. Once we docked at LGA, it’s like she just up and vanished. You saw her yesterday, did you?”

“… I actually don’t remember if I did.”

“Well, maybe she’s up with her family, she’s from New York right?”

“Think so. Anyway, Lisa, hope to see you and whatever crews we can muster there.”

“Right, usual time, right?”

“Usual time.”

You hang up at that. You look over at Griselda. “Shouldn’t you be at school?”

“Thanksgiving Break!” says Griselda happily. “That means I get to work on my models!”

Preston asks, “Mind if I help?”

“Sure!” says Griselda. “Come on!” He and Griselda stand up and head upstairs to her room, leaving you with Nancy.

“Nancy, we need money, money for tanks! Where are we going to get money!?” Nancy holds up a ticket for the Powerball. “Oh come on,” you say.

Nancy shrugs. “Quickest I can work.”

You sigh. “I need to think. Money, money, money… This would probably be easier if I was Lisa.” You and Nancy stand, walking into the TV room where Kitten is watching TV.

“Huh?” you look over. “Kitten, how’d you get into my house?”

“I have a spare key,” she says, holding it up.

“Well good.” You sit down next to her on the couch and force her to lie her head down onto your lap. “I need something to pet while I think.”

“Uh, Trudy-“ You pat her head, ruffling your fingers through her hair like a gentle cat. She purrs a bit. “Ugh… nevermind.”

You scratch your chin. Now that you have your thinking Kitten, where are you going to get money?

… you sure as hell aren’t going to prostitute yourself. Maybe Kitten, she wouldn’t appreciate that.

Nancy says, “Are there any good places to visit in DC?”

“Well…” you scratch your chin harder. Fuck, this money making business is making your brain hurt.

“Griselda, do you anything about Konigsberg?”

Griselda shakes her head. “Nah, not much. All I really know is that they’ve been blazing through matches lately, and on five tanks too!”

Kitten says, “Maybe those five tanks are the only ones they own.”

“Well, the most I know so far of their line up is that they have a King Tiger and four Tiger IIs. And considering that they blazed through unscathed, they’re basically Ace tankers. The King Tiger actually is an Sdkfz. 267 Panzerbefehlswagen with the Star antennae, and the Tiger IIs are well, yeah.”

“Oh, it’s nothing compared to ours! If they take five tanks to our match, we’ll take all of our tanks! They can’t kill ALL OF US!”

Kitten says, “That’s not reassuring.”

“Well, I’ll try to help as best as I can,” says Griselda. “It shouldn’t be too hard to figure out their roster!”

“Of course,” you say.

You arrive at DC. As usual, traffic is a killer. You spend the time chattering idly, about Griselda’s surprisingly below average grades, about Nancy’s brother, and about Kitten being Kitten. At least it’s not summer. DC in the summer traffic is not fun at all.

But, Nancy continues forth, and soon you come up to the National Mall.

The auctioneer, a fat sweaty southerner in a white suit, welcomes you. “Ah, good a 1957 Studebaker Silver Hawk in good condition! That’ll fetch a hefty price. The starting bid for it oughta be in the neighborhood of 20,000 Dollars. The auctioning company gets ten percent of the proceeds as well, hope you understand.”

“I do!” you say.

“Righto!” he says. The car gets driven among the other lots. “Go ahead and look around, see if anything suits your fancy. We’ll be bidding on your car in a bit.”

DC is pretty chilly this time of year, but thankfully you did change into warmer clothes. You managed to secure yourself a big sign and some markers and wrote down: “Buy the 1957 Studebaker Silver Hawk, support LGA!”

You carry it around with Griselda. Kitten and Nancy wait at the car.

You say, “So, Griselda. What’s with your grades, honestly?”

Griselda shrugs. “I’m just not feeling it.”

“Not feeling it?” yeah total bullshit fucking little sisters “Come on, Griselda. You ain’t going to get onto LGA that way. Quite the contrary, you’re going to end up at a land High School, and that’s not going to be fun at all.”

“I suppose,” says Griselda. “I guess I’m just having that fatigue you know? I really want Middle School out of the way and done. I want to move on, I want to get some really good friends like you have with Kitten. Heck, I’d settle for having a girlfriend at this rate.”

“Now, Griselda. Loneliness is not an excuse for heteroflexibility,” you say.

“Why am I taking advice from you?” says Griselda. “You’ve never even masturbated before!”

“Because I am your big sister!” you say. You pat her head, grinning. “And it doesn’t matter what I do behind the door, it matters what I do when I go out the door!”

Griselda blinks. “… wow. That… that’s actually pretty smart.”

“Good, because I came up with it on the spot.”

Griselda laughs, punching you playfully. “Bitch.”

You shove her back in response. “Jerk.”

You look over at all the people coming to buy classic cars. Most are old men, some are women dragged in by these old men. Occasionally you see a rich teenager or two looking for something retro. You blink.

No, can’t be. Is that Fairless over there?

… ah shit it is. She’s checking the price for what looks to be a Dodge ’58 Coronet Lancer.

“Bernadette!” You wave at her.

She freezes in place. She immediately looks at you, then hides the price listing behind her back. “Oh, Gertrude. Who’s your friend?”

You introduce a very fear-filled Griselda to Fairless. “Bernadette Fairless, this is my younger sister. Griselda Pool. You two not meet yet?”

“I uh…” Griselda stutters. “I-I don’t know.”

Fairless nods. “Nice to meet you.”

“Yeah!” Griselda nods violently. “Likewise!”

You ask, “What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be up at Pennsylvania?”

“Well, I was in town for tank practice with the other girls,” she says. “Saw this, figured I visit.”

“Were you planning on buying something?” you say.

“Oh, no!” Fairless waves her hand, laughing forcefully. “… actually, yeah. I was. I mean, I’m not a hardcore car fetishist or whatever, I just want a nice car. That works. And isn’t a tank. Mind you, I like the Chaffee, I do, I just don’t see using it as a way to get to and from work.”

You shrug. “Understandable.” You say, “We’re here selling my Dad’s old car. It’s a ’57 Silver Hawk.”

Fairless’ eyes light up. “A Silver Hawk?!” She shakes her immediately. “I- I mean… wha- what’s a Silver Hawk?”

“Would you like to see it?” you ask.

Fairless shrugs, obviously trying to hide her excitement behind her heavy trenchcoat, her green scarf, her brown sweatervest, that black skirt and her grey blouse. “Oh… I mean, if it’s not too much trouble.”

“Come on!” you say. You grab her arm and lead her on.

“Oh, okay,” says Fairless quickly.

You arrive back at your car, which is next to be auctioned off. Fairless has stars in her eyes as she walks around it, feeling the hood and looking in the interior.

Kitten asks you, “Where’d you find her?”

You shrug. “Just did.” You lean in, whispering. “She really likes cars, apparently.”

Kitten smirks. “Well maybe you’ll get her one for Christmas or something.”

“I might,” you say. “Just to make you jealous!” You tug on Kitten’s cheek.

“I’m not jealous!” she says.

Fairless walks over, surprised. “Gertrude, I’m quite surprised you have a car like that. Is it really only worth 20,000?”

You nod. “Apparently. Price might go up in the bids.”

Fairless looks at the price listing for it, her face turning into one of worry.

The whole problem is that at this point the people who read the quest for character interactions and fun tankery don't really give a shit about squeezing out as much money as possible, while the people who are super into the team management and upgrade/purchases part of the quest do. I'd give away the car in a heartbeat myself, lose out on some cash, eh whatever.

You say, “If you want, I could just sell it to you. I mean, what’s your price range?”

“Oh, I can’t ask you to do that,” says Fairless. “That ain’t fair to people who might want it too. If I lose out on it, I’ll lose out.” She shrugs, sweeping her hands dismissively. “Fair’s fair.”

Nancy smiles. “Well, that’s noble of you, Bernadette!”

“Now, I do kind of want it,” says Fairless. “But I’ll see if I can actually win it in the auction. I should have enough money.”

“I would’ve charged out the ass for it though, Fairless.”

“Really?”

“No!” you say. You laugh a little. “Honestly, Bernadette. I just want to see you be happy. Like, genuinely happy. Not subtle happy stuff. Just, genuinely happy!”

Fairless says, “Well, now you’re making regret not buying it.”

“Hey, next time,” you say. “Heck, if you get a nice car, let me know. Maybe we can take it for a spin.”

Kitten and Griselda giggle in the back. Griselda says, “They’re like a couple!”

Fairless turns back to her. “How would you like for me to turn this car around?”

“Sorry, ma’am!” Griselda shrinks in fright.

Fairless sighs. “Well, sorry for being a stickler then, Gertrude.”

“Not your fault, I should’ve insisted,” you say.

You leave the Nation’s capital and head down to NOVA Armor Museum, just a stone throw’s away from DC. The building itself is less of a building and more of a giant warehouse, similar to Casablanca. Fairless puts the car in park and you all step out.

The crews are here. The Seniors, the Juniors, the Japanese Girls, and the Cheerleaders. “Is this all?” you ask.

“I was expecting more!” says Nezumi. “This holiday of yours is breeding weakness!”

“Yeah!” says Clara. “I can see it in your bones, Nezumi!”

“What did you just say to me, I’ll have you know I commanded the Panzer VIII Maus and I’ll have-“ Clara and Nezumi get into a shouting match, you quickly settle down.

“Guys, guys. I know tensions are high, but let’s just get things through. Today’s practice might be a bit unorthodox because as you can see, NOVA doesn’t have a firing range or, much of a place to practice maneuvers. Who’s instructing?”

Octavia walks out from the back of the crowd. “Me.”

“Great!” you say.

“Griselda, you want to be our sub loader today?”

“WOULD I!?” Griselda runs towards your tank. Octavia laughs at that.

She says, “Youth.”

For now, your Sherman, the T-34/85, the Chaffee, the Cromwell, and the Panther (The Cheerleaders had a last minute vote for it) roll out.

Octavia says, “Alright. For those of you undercrewed, consider where you need to be in a situation. Radio operators are something a Commander can do. Commanders can load too, and they can gun as well. If you need to quickly replace someone, feel free to practice moving around in the tank. First things first, we’ll start with driving around the building for a bit.” She stands on your tank, hanging onto the turret as she speaks into the throat mic. “Follow Gertrude.”

“Yes, yes, yes!” Griselda is giddy as she sits in the loader seat.

The tanks begin rolling ahead, except for the Panther.

“Hold on! Gotta figure out this clutch, AND THEN WE’LL CATCH YOU, GERTRUDE POOL!” yells Clara.

Octavia says, “This ain’t a competition, take your time to familiarize yourself with it.”

The Panther suddenly rolls backwards, right into a fence.

“D’oh!” yells Clara again.

Once that’s sorted though, the crews go a careful 5 miles per hour around the building without managing to crash into anything. Good thing everything valuable is inside.

Griselda bounces in her seat, giddy. “Can we fire a blank shot, Gertrude? Please? Please?”

“Can you do everything?” you ask.

Octavia blinks, then shrugs. “I’ll try.”

Octavia uses the side of Hobbes the King Tiger as a makeshift whiteboard for her markers. “Alright, let’s talk about shell drop. For certain ammunition and for certain guns, there is a decent amount of gravity that will affect it. Ammunition does not deliver to the target in a flat trajectory , especially at long ranges. You need to consider two things: Am I close enough? And Should I fire? Take for example, Konigsberg. They have heavy tanks like the Tiger I. The Tiger’s 88mm is great for flat trajectory, long range slugging and its thick armor means that for smaller caliber guns, they’re going to have to close to stupid ranges to attack.”

She draws an example tank on end of the tank and then another on the other end. “Let’s say this one is you and that one over there is a Tiger I that they have. And this entire stretch is 1,000 meters. Let’s say this tank is an M4 Sherman with the short barrel 75mm.” She draws a line which stretches for a bit, then drops down, way before the Tiger. “That is about the correct trajectory.” She does the same for the Tiger, except the Tiger’s line goes all the way to the Sherman with only a slight curve to trajectory. “And that is for the Tiger. So consider this, if you’re not close enough, get closer. And if you are, you probably should fire. Any questions?”

The Japanese girls are fast asleep, already knowing this. Fairless kicks Nezumi awake, stirring the others.

Octavia says, “Good. Sorry, but unless Gertrude wants something else to do, this is pretty much all we can get done here.”

> Let’s see if we can fire a gun.

You walk up to Griselda as she pats the hull of Cupid the Sherman. “Just cleared it with the museum staff.” Griselda looks at you, curious. “You’re free to fire,” you say happily.

She beams like the sun in the morning. The both of you climb in and settle into positions. You let Griselda handle the gunner’s chair while you load in a blank round for her. You’ve seen Ramirez do it all the time, can’t be too difficult.

“Alright, elevate as high as you can,” you say. Griselda happily works the sights, aiming the gun as high as it can go. “Right,” you say. “Fire when ready.”

Griselda pulls the trigger. The gun shakes as it fires. Smoke fills the cabin as the spent casing flies out of the breech. Good thing you’re both wearing hearing protection. “How was that, Griselda?”

Griselda lies back in the seat, squeaking with delight. Her cheeks are flushed, her thighs are clenched, and her hand is over her chest. “Th-That was amazing! I feel so warm inside!”

Oh boy.

But regardless, you manage to snap Griselda out of it. You stand atop your tank and say, “Right. Tomorrow’s the practice match with Ekins and her school. Clara, you’re not in on it, but you’re free to attend, as are most everyone, to watch the Juniors, Seniors, and the Japanese.”

Clara crosses her arms. “They’ll probably drive their tank into a ditch.”

“Anyway,” you say. “Go ahead, go home. Practice dismissed. Hope to see everyone good and ready.”

“Oh… of all types,” Fairless shrugs lazily. “I mean, this car, my Dad bought me it and I love it to death. Six-speed manual, you should learn to drive a manual stick shift in your life, Gertrude, and it has a 2.5 liter engine. And as for classics, well, I try to find neat classic cars where I can.”

Nancy asks, “You collect cars?”

“…” Fairless looks to the side. “…Maybe. It’s mostly my Dad.” She sighs. “But that’s not important, let’s just get you home.”

You arrive back home safe and sound relatively quickly. Fairless says, “Alright, this is where you get off.”

You smile at her. “Come have dinner with us!”

“Oh, I couldn’t,” says Fairless.

Nancy says, “Yes, you can!”

Fairless sighs. Kitten and Griselda leave the car quietly. She says, “Fine, I’ll have dinner. Hopefully, your parents understand right?”

You shake your head. “Nah, it’s just me, Griselda, and Dad.”

“Ah.” Fairless purses her lips a bit. “Okay.”

You walk into the house and yell, “Dad, we’re back! We sold the car too!”

“Awesome!” says Dad as he walks in. He flinches back immediately. “Jesus-! Oh, you have a visitor, sorry you scared me.”

Fairless looks unamused.

Dad chuckles nervously, offering his hand. “Garnett Pool. I assume you’re Bernadette Fairless, Gertrude and Kitten tell me a lot about you.”

You nod. “Yeah, she was at the classic cars auction today. She meant to buy the Silver Hawk but she got outbid.”

“Oh really?” Dad looks at her. “You like cars?” Fairless nervously nods. “You know, I’ve got a ’59 Silver Challenger in the garage.”

Fairless’ eyes get starry again. “The Limited Edition Silver Challenger?”

“The very one!” says Dad. “I can show you after dinner.”

Fairless is actually smiling. And not even subtly smiling. She’s full on smiling.

Wow, that’s cute.

But regardless, all of you settle down at dinner. Preston and Nancy catch up with each other with stories of their academia. Dad regales Fairless with his modest collection of classic cars that he’s been giving away for a while now.

Fairless nods, lost in his words. “Yeah, yeah. They only built around 350 of them.”

You say, “Dad, not to interrupt you or anything. But is it okay if some friends come over tonight for dinner too? They might be a bit late, sorry.”

“The more, the merrier!” says Dad. There’s a knock at the door.

Preston, apparently eager for an excuse to get away from Fairless, stands up. “I’ll get it!” He quickly walks out, and soon returns with the four Japanese girls.

You say, “Dad, these are Nezumi, Izumi, Assam, and Alisa. They’re exchange students from some of the Japanese schools we faced earlier on.”

Dad smiles, bowing to them. “Konnichiwa! Hajimemashite?”

The Japanese girls gasp in delight. Nezumi yells out in more Japanese, as does Alisa and Izumi.

Dad says, “Yeah, I don’t know that much Japanese, sorry. But come, sit! We’re having lobster!” They all excitedly sit down for dinner, and are amazed at Dad’s cooking.

“Hey, Kitten, you’ve been pretty quiet so far. Anything new with your family?”

Kitten nods. “Yeah, my Dad actually got a higher up position. He’s got as many as fifty people working under him now and his salary just got an increase.”

“That’s great!” says Dad. “Still doesn’t excuse his horrible taste in teams. Alabama my ass. He thinks they’ll take the Iron Bowl this year, I say he’s wrong.”

Kitten giggles a bit. “Well, Mister Pool. Other than that, Mom’s been pretty good at work too. She’s sold off a couple of houses and the like. You know, tomorrow’s our match.”

“Yeah,” says Dad. “I looked up the girl, Jo Ekins? She goes to Annandale High School, Annandale Atoms and all that. Good football team, surprised they even have a Tankery program in the first place.”

Kitten says, “Well, I reckon our teams will beat them senseless, learn them right you know?”

Nezumi nods. “Ha! We will show those atoms who is the boss!”

Alisa says, “That is so non-threatening that I forgot to laugh.”

“Shut up,” says Nezumi.

You’re just about finished with dinner, as is Fairless.

“Come on, girl,” says Dad. “I’ll show you the cars.” Fairless stands up immediately following him out the door.

You decide to take this time to call up Mr. Mishka.

“Gertrude! What can I do for you?”

“Alright, we’ll have it ready soon!”

“Thanks, Mr. Mishka!”

“No, no, thank you!”

You quickly hurry over to the garage where Dad keeps his classic cars. He used to have quite the collection of ten cars from all the eras. It’s more or less dwindled to three now, the Silver Challenger, the DeLorean, and even the Mercedes-Benz Ponton. Kitten follows you, just for kicks.

Fairless and Dad sit in the front seats of the Silver Challenger. Fairless especially is having a time just trying not to touch anything or hurt the poor car as she sits in the driver’s seat. “Oh my goodness,” says Fairless. “I mean… this is so much and I- I can’t take it!” She grins, toothy grin too.

Kitten takes pictures. You laugh as the two of you stand outside the car.

Dad laughs. “You’re quite the petrolhead, ain’t you?”

“Well,” Fairless shrugs. “I wouldn’t call myself- I mean- I love cars and this- I- Oh my god, I’m sorry, I must look stupid.”

“Relax!” says Dad. “Honestly! It’s nothing!”

“I mean-“ Fairless hovers her fingers over the steering wheel, as if it were the Holy Grail itself. “They only built 350 of these things, I might damage or wound it or… something!”

Dad scratches his chin. Oh boy, he’s thinking. He says, “Tell you what, girl. You like this car?” Fairless nods. “How much money were you planning on for the Silver Hawk?”

“Well, my parents gave me an allowance of 28,000 but…” Fairless blinks. She pushes her glasses up and looks at Dad. “No. No. No. You- You can’t be- I- This. No. No!”

You lean in through the window. “How come you never give us cars, Dad?”

Dad shrugs. “Because bad driving appears to be inherent in our family. Plus, you got tanks, that’s like… twenty cars!”

You pout at him.

“Ah, don’t give me that,” says Dad.

You chuckle. “Go ahead, Dad.”

Fairless looks almost as if she’s about to burst into tears. “Oh my god, Mister Pool! I- I- This is so much more than 28k, I can’t take this!”

“Take it,” says Dad. “I’m getting old, I won’t be able to enjoy these cars like I used to. Better to see them on the road, being cars and having people enjoy them, rather than wasting away in a garage.”

Fairless is quiet for a second, then she smiles widely and hugs Dad. “Thank you so much! Thank you! Thank you!”

Kitten and you smile.

Once the deal is settled, Fairless is now the proud owner of the 1959 Limited Edition Dodge Silver Challenger in pristine condition. Dad says, “Well, I’ll leave you alone for now. I’ll have someone pick it up for you in the morning and have it sent to wherever you’d like, alright?”

“Alright,” says Fairless. She simply sits in the driver’s seat, in sheer disbelief. Dad kisses you and Griselda on the cheek.

“Don’t stay up too long,” he says as he walks out.

Kitten nods. “Well, I should head home, Gertrude.”

“You don’t want to stay the night?” you ask.

Kitten looks over at Fairless, then sighs. “Well… I suppose I can stay a bit longer. I’ll be in the TV Room.” She walks out of the garage.

You look at Fairless. She looks at you, then sighs as she looks away.

You sit next to her in the car. “So, like it?”

Fairless grins at you. “Love it.” She sighs, drumming her fingers on the steering wheel. “I’d just love to take it out for a spin one day.” She looks at you, her grin fading a bit. “You’re spoiling me, Gertrude.”

“What are you talking about?”

“All this, I- You know, back in September. I couldn’t have given two shits about who you were, you were just that girl holding onto that faint hope that we could save the school with Tankery of all things.” She throws her hands up. “Now look, you’ve got me quitting smoking, I’ve got a ’59 Silver Challenger, and…” She shakes her head. “Jeez. Gertrude, thank you. Honestly, this is too much for me.”

You shrug. “Hey, I didn’t give you the car. My Dad did.”

“Yeah, I can see where you get it from,” says Fairless. To your surprise, she leans in and kisses you on the cheek.

Fairless blushes a little. “Okay, I’ve ruined the moment. Get out.”

You laugh, exiting the car. “Good night, Bernadette.”

Fairless sighs, sitting in the car.

You walk through the house, seeing Preston and Nancy regale the curious the Japanese students with tales of living in Utah. The girls are huddled together like schoolchildren reading Goodnight Moon or something. Figures. Griselda is probably upstairs playing World of Tanks, and you see Kitten watching a movie.

You lean over Kitten. “What are you watching?”

Kitten nods. “Three movies!”

Three movies.

You say, “Come on.” You pick up Kitten and throw her over her shoulder.

“Hey!” Kitten beats on your back. “Let go! Indy’s about to beat the shit out of the Nazis!”

“That’s the entire movie, Kitten.”

“I know!”

You and Kitten plop yourselves down next to the Japanese girls as Nancy and Preston continue their tale.

Nancy says, “And the most we could really do was basketball!”

“That’s right!” says Preston. “We played basketball from dawn til dusk on the weekends. I bet the old court’s still there too. We played basketball with whoever we could find, each other, some nice black people who passed by, it was basketball all the time!”

Nezumi asks, “How did you live?”

“Well,” Nancy shrugs. “We eventually just sort of separated from our parents. We had our differences, and we’ve accepted that!”

Preston smiles. “Indeed! I got kind of sick of basketball after a while too. Plus, when I told them I was gay, they were pretty livid but overall they did accept that I was gay.” He shrugs. “But of course that I had no place in the family and thus, well, I left. Nancy did too for LGA a year later after that.”

Izumi says, “That’s so sad!”

“Not really,” says Nancy. “It was the best thing ever! Leaving for LGA! I miss my parents sometimes, but I love Preston so much more!”

Preston nods. “And that’s what matters. Family.”

You smile at that.

Family.

Thanks for the excel sheet, we still have a little over 13K left, what should we invest it on?

I think maybe the Stupa, and either the T-34/57 or the Panzer IV

Depending on how much of a discount we get putting the equipment on the Pershing, we can the most expensive thing to use the girl token on is the Jumbo Pershing or the M4A1

Neither actually.

The best thing we can do is use the token to purchase a QF or KwK bundle.

The QF bundle components minus the 17 pounder netted us 22k. We could easily made 30k.

Regarding current purchases, I would just get the S3 for the Stupa and hold off for abit.

We're selling but when I don't know. We could sell it after upgrading the Somua or sell it after upgrading the Hellcat with the 90mm.
