You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

You yawn a bit as you wake today. You slept alone last night, no need to keep Kitten and Fairless awake all night with your snoring.

Not that you snore or anything.

Hm. That’s food for the thought. You need to ask Kitten if you snore.

But regardless, you realize something. It’s Thanksgiving Break this week! There’s no School! You can do whatever you want! Why, you could just goof off all day and not give a shit about anything or anybody! Boy, it’s been so long since you’ve had a genuine day of relaxation, Shore Leave be damned!

Plus, you’re actually within driving distance of your home! It’s been months since you’ve seen your room.

Hmph. That’s more food for the thought.

What should you do for today?

You dial up Kitten. “Yo, Kitten. I have decided to head home, maybe spend the night at the old mansion. You want to come with?”

“Sure!” says Kitten. “It’ll be nice to see your Dad and Griselda again!”

“Great.” You check the time. “Before that though, I think we have some time. I’m going to call up Lisa and Nancy, go and meet me at my dorm, alright?”

“Sure thing.”

With that, you hang up. Alright, now to get a few things out of the way. You need sponsorships.

Lisa says, “Yes, I know. I’m looking. I’ll call you when I have something. I’ll talk to the other crews about them raising funds for their tanks too. I’m actually quite surprised we didn’t think of that earlier. As for our presentation, I’m having the Animation Club work on something for us.”

“Thanks, Lisa.” You hang up on her.

Nancy says, “Another crew. Well, there quite a number of candidates. We have the Sports Teams, the Folk Music Club, the Ani- I mean, no. Not the anime Club. Um. Film Club might be interested.”

“Right, right. I’ll call you later, Nancy.”

“Okay!”

You hang up. Right then. TIME TO DO THE STUFF WITH THE KITTEN.

Kitten opens the door, clad in that sundress and cardigan she had gotten way back in September. “Hey, ready to go?”

You grin, squealing. “Awww! You really do like that outfit-“

“Shut up,” says Kitten. “Now what are we up to?”

What was Ooarai's roster again? We aren't going to outskill them, so at least I'd like to outnumber them.
We should also start training the crews in shooting at fast, irregular pattern/zigzagging targets. That I-Go CANNOT stand.

You snap your fingers. “We’ve got the momentum, Kitten. We got to start recruiting! We’re one away from a full roster!”

Kitten nods. “Great, more people you’re probably going to forget about.”

“Hey,” you say. “I don’t forget about people!... all the time. I happen to know the names of all our crew commanders!”

“Do you remember the name of that one girl from the Sports teams?” asks Kitten.

“Of course not, we only met once!” you say. “Now, that might prove your point, but it proves my point as well. But anyway, it’s time we figure out who to recruit though, we’ve got quite a few candidates.”

“Nope! But I’m sure it’ll come to me later, Kitten. Come on!”

You slide down the railing of the stairs and dismount with an amazing flourish. Kitten simply walks down the stairs. “Oh come on,” you say. “That was awesome!”

“Yeah it was, Trudy,” says Kitten. “Let’s just get this done.”

You say, “Now, Kitten. There’s no need to be upset.” You smile, wagging your finger. “Why, remember when we visited the Film Club back in the day? That was when you used to be your old NEET-o self.”

Kitten shrugs. “I suppose. Aren’t they still based in that old Hollywood building?”

“We have a Hollywood?” you say. Kitten nods, matter of factly. “Holy shit, didn’t realize.”

You say, “Do you think there are other things that I really should remember?”

Kitten says, “You remembered my birthday, didn’t you?”

“I did!”

“What about my three sizes?” she asks.

You pinch her thigh a bit. “Sexy.” You pinch her hip. “Unf.” You poke the side of her breast. “And Hello there!”

Kitten giggles, rolling your eyes. “Typical.”

“Well, it’s not my fault I’m not accustomed to that. All I know is weight and the Basic Medical Index!”

“When was the last time you checked your weight?” she asks.

“…I don’t know.” Oh god, that’s going to kill you.

Kitten laughs a bit, pinching at your thigh in return. “Relax! I’m in favor of the results here!”

“Oh stop it!” you say.

You arrive at the Hollywood Building. It’s imposing, ghostly even. But, you enter inside. You look around. Shit, what was her name? What was her name?

Josefina! That’s it!

“Yo, Josefina! You in here?”

“Yeah! I’m in the back!” she yells. You walk through the dark, haunted halls of the Hollywood building. You open up the backdoor to reveal a huge amount of movies on shelves, and Josefina and her two girls watching a movie. “Hey, need something?”

“Nope!” You point to them. “But we need tankers! Tankers like you!”

“No thanks,” they all say.

… Wow. That was surprising. You say, “Oh. Are you sure?”

Josefina says, “As much as we’d like to help you, we’re kind of in narrow straits at the moment.”

“Yeah,” says one of them. What was her name again? “So buzz off.”

“Rude,” says Kitten. “Maybe we can help you. Is there anything we can do to convince you to join us?”

Josefina says, “Well…” She scratches her chin. “The reason we’re in narrow straits is because the Cheerleader Squad bought all our cameras and now we have nothing to film with. So we’re stuck just watching movies, and that’s about it.”

“They bought all your cameras?” you ask.

“We have a Cheerleader team?” asks Kitten.

“Yes, and yes,” says Josefina. “Uh, go get them for us and we might consider it.”

Kitten asks, “Why did you even sell all the cameras anyway?’

Josefina stands up and walks over to something covered in sheets. She pulls it off to reveal…

An old movie projector. “Cost us a few thousand to buy this thing. You don’t see it a lot anymore.”

“Yeah, for a good reason,” says Kitten.

Josefina huffs. “Well, at least we can watch our movies now in crisp clear high definition provided they’re in the old film reels and nothing goes wrong.”

You say, “That’s a bit counter-intuitive, why not just get a Blu-Ray.”

“That’s like saying why not just get HHDDVVDDBVD,” says Josefina. “It’s not about modernization, it’s about ART! And yeah, we kind of want our cameras back.”

“I’ll see if I can get your cameras,” you say. “Just, don’t go anywhere, alright?”

With that, you leave the Hollywood building. Kitten says, “Jeez, what a bunch of hipsters.”

You arrive at the Gym on campus. You ask the Coach if the Cheerleading Squad is in.

“Yeah, they’re practicing a routine right now.”

You walk in to see a good dozen or so girls in the Lafayette Girls Blue and White cartwheeling, stretching, and going slow through a routine. You ask, “Yo! Who’s the head honcho around here?”

“Well, well, well!” A girl walks over. Blonde, blue eyes, decent sized rack too. Everything you’d expect from a cheerleader. “If it isn’t my good rival, Gertrude Pool!”

You blink. “… Rival?”

“Yeah!” she says, smirking. “You know!”

“…” You shake your head. “No. I don’t. Who are you?’

She blinks, in genuine surprise no doubt. “Me. Your rival. You know, gym class? Hell, the year before too? Don’t tell me you don’t even know me!”

Clara scoffs. “Pfft. No. Why would I want to associate myself with you, Gertrude Pool!?” She jabs your finger in your chest. “A Cheerleader must devote herself to this dangerous and incredibly tiring sport, for the thrill of the audience and the entertainment of the many!”

No half-assing this now after all the help the Film Club gave to Gertrude.

Recruitment still up for grabs in favor of the Cheerleaders though.

“Me, do Tankery?” Clara laughs. “Don’t make me laugh! Why would I want to do something that dangerous?”

“And Cheerleading isn’t?” you say.

“Yeah, but you don’t get run over or get blasted by machine guns in Cheerleading!” Clara raises her chin to you, in one of those noblisse type gestures. “I ain’t doing Tankery and you can’t make me.”

You quirk your brow. “Really? You scared or something?”

Clara’s eyes widen. She blushes a bit. “NO! I- I’m not scared! I just-“

“Well, my biggest rival ever, apparently, won’t even take me on in the sport that I like on my terms,” you say. “What a big baby.”

“Now listen here, Gertrude Pool! I happen to be twice the woman you are!” She whistles. “GIRLS!” A pair of Cheerleaders slide over, then lift Clara up so that she now towers over you. “If you want me-“

“Can we get the cameras too?” asks Kitten. “Just making sure.”

Clara says, “If you want me and the cameras, you’ll have to beat me in something we both have equal share in. AN EATING CONTEST!”

“Let’s do this!” You point in the air. “TO THE BBQ PLACE!”

You plop yourself down in the seats, with the entire Cheerleading Team, Kitten, and even the Coaches in attendance. Some curious patrons watch you all as you order enough ribs to feed the country of Ethiopia.

Clara snaps her fingers. “GIRLS!” The Cheerleaders hand a knife and a fork, place napkin around her neck, and even pour a glass of soda for her.

“KITTEN!” you say. Kitten shrugs, then just drops a plate of ribs in front of you. “Gee, thanks, Kitten,” you say.

“Don’t mention it.”

“Right,” says Clara. “If I lose, I join the Tankery team and give you our cameras. If you lose, you join the Cheerleading team. First one to concede or vomit loses. Fair?”

You nod. “Fair. Let’s get this done.” You crack your knuckles and pop the bones in your neck.

TIME TO EAT.

Kitten starts the timer. “On your mark, get set, go!”

You start furiously eating. Clara as well tosses the knife and fork away in favor of just ripping the meat off the bones with her teeth, getting barbecue sauce all over her face. Same situation with you, really. It’s a fight to see who will win.

The cute girl, or the cheerleader.

You’re about twenty ribs in. You’re about regretting this decision, but Clara doesn’t look like she’s given up. Though, she’s gotten quite pale as she continues to eat up the ribs.

Oh god. You’re going to vomit. Oh god oh god

AGASPLAAGH- You plant your hand over your mouth, just barely catching the chunks before it comes all out. Clara sees this, and immediately starts gagging, reaching for her vomit bucket.

“Trudy, are you okay?” Kitten wraps her arm around you, concerned.

You wave her away, swallowing the chunks whole.

God, you haven’t felt this bad since you tried joining the Delayed Entry Program.

Clara finally vomits, spewing ribs and meat into her bucket. She’s conceded defeat. You throw your bone down and yell, “I win!”

All the Cheerleaders and patrons clap and applaud. The Coaches laugh, patting you on the back and giving some encouraging words.

“Well, what do you think of that, Clara?” you ask.

Clara groans. “… the cameras are yours. And so am I.”

You and Kitten carry the cameras over to the Hollywood building. “Oh god,” you say. “I don’t feel too good, Kitten.”

Guess the Sewing team will have to sit out tomorrow's practice. If its still going on.

Not sure on the donation. We still need the cash and its more than I'm willing to part with. I see that we can likely afford to pass them 10k or so, which we can more than recoup by selling the Chi-Ha, me thinks.

Everything but the Pershings seem to be trainers. Tesla’s strategy apparently involves using the Pershings as unstoppable battering rams against basically anything. The weight of the shells is enough to cripple or destroy most tanks.

But, regardless, your car arrives. “Gertrude! My sister!” She pops out of the car and hugs you. “Great, you’re coming home finally! We’re just about to have dinner for you.”

Likely more.

The upgrading on the S-35 means that a possible conversion on the Pershing this week to com spec is now out of the question and vintage tanks will keep breaking down during practice.

They might not get any tankery time this week.
>>
>>32617822
We can try and see that we can raise some money for the comp.spec.

Also the Panther will be done on wendsday so whoever get it can take the Panther and sewing team can use the Chi0ha for practice and the fight with Anzio
>>
>>32617730
I suggested it in a qtg thread, but I think we should have a 'pool' of CP that we can work with for every battle. Base it off of how many 'quests' we've completed or whatnot, maybe have it modified by team morale, number of tanks being fielded.

Consequently, since we'll always have a 'full load' of points to work with for every fight, you might need to adjust ability costs, or possibly have penalties for losing tanks in combat. Nothing too crippling, but enough to make players sweat for making poor tactical decisions.
>>
Concerning lack of tanks...

Sewing is already Elite. Even if we could throw them in a tank, what good would training do? The same can be said of us. Loan the tanks out to the new teams or something.

Honestly, its not the temporary lack of tanks that worries me, its the upgrade priority.

Right now looking over the list of purchases we'll likely make and the cost of eliting our tanks, we were already short, even before factoring the cost of upgunning the S-35. We don't have enough cash for what we want and I'd like to not pin my hopes on possible future funding.

We've seen Oorai kill Ace's team of Pershings and E8s. What I'm seeing is that unless we can bring a comparable number of Elite tanks, we're going to get into a hell of a time against them.

After comp speccing the Pershing, are we leaving it as the M45?

The 105mm howitzer seems rather anemic for such a vehicle.

The T26E5 was to the T26E3 what the M4A3E2 was to M4A3.

It retains 95% of the M45's turret armor, and increases the hull armor by 50%

While it can't mount the T15E1/2 gun of the T26E4, the 90mm M3 is more than enough unless you're trying to kill a KT from the front at ranges beyond 500m

>(Thinking on replacing the Studying system with something else. Let me if you have any ideas.)

There are a number of ways you could do this, Schteel.

You could have it be a phone conversation with the opposing Ace Commander where you try to lean as much as you can while not giving too much away.

Or you could split the study so that watching matches gets a better chance of seeing tactical maneuvers, and you need to go to the library to study tankery.

We could also have a quest about finding LGA's old ace crews and learning off them.

Just some ideas I thought of then
>>
>>32618055
Worst comes to worst, we can hope to keep Divine Intervention long enough to get to the Oorai match.
>>
>>32618148
Well I'm going to try to advocate finding more money for now.

Let's just do our best with what we have and hopefully companies will take notice of us. and our presentation will be good.

Or even if our crews especially the loyal ones will do some work and raise some money during our break
>>
Now that LGA is back in port, we'll get a real chance for some money raising, won't we?

“Hmph, well that just goes to show, sometimes you find that you have hidden talents locked away somewhere!” you say.

Dad says, “Now Griselda, you’re not getting a Tankette until you get your license. That’s at least until you’re sixteen.”

Kitten says, “What have you been looking at for Tankettes, Griselda?”

“Oh, I was looking at some of the Italian models! A CV-33 for instance. I was also looking at some restomods from the Unlimited scene! A Carden-Loyd for instance!”

“But Dad!” you say. “I really did learn how to cook! Promise! Cross my heart and hope to die!” You break out the big guns, the SAD EYES as you and him stand in the kitchen.

Dad sighs, amused. “Fine. But if something catches fire, that’s your fault.” He points to the knives. “Now, help me chop the carrots.”

“Mkay!” you say. “Oh, Dad. I did say Nancy and her brother were going to be staying over, didn’t I?”

You chop the carrots diligently. Dad looks at you, skeptical. “Amazing, normally something would be aflame by now.”

You peek your head into Griselda’s room. She’s busy reading up on the latest Tankery magazines. “Hey, sis. What’s going on with you?”

Griselda says, “Oh, not much! Come in, come in!” You walk inside, looking around at all of Griselda’s tankery ornaments.

On her walls are posters of tanks, posters of Tank Aces, and the likes. A bookshelf has been adapted into a display case of all of her lovingly detailed models of tanks. On her beds are various plushie Tank shells and even a collectible Tiger Tank plushie. And you can bet that World of Tanks and War Thunder is on her computer too. You even spot her old RC Goliath sticking out of her closet, poor thing hasn’t worked since last year.

You sit down at her desk, smiling. “So, Griselda. Anything new?”

Griselda shrugs. “Not really. I’ve been trying unsuccessfully to have Tankery revived at the Middle School but you know how it is. School sees people getting hurt, parents get buttmad about it, and nobody has fun anymore. It’ll be over soon though when I get onto LGA. I get to do Tankery with you even!”

“Yeah, well,” you shrug. “I ain’t one to brag.”

Griselda sits up, looking at you bluntly. “But, Gertrude! You’ve basically turned a one-horse town of an Academyship into a Tankery powerhouse! All in a matter of months! Even Ooarai couldn’t have done that!”

You smile. “Dad didn’t raise us like that, Griselda. If you want friends, just go get them, no need to be afraid.”

“Yeah, I guess you’re right,” says Griselda. “Oh, and I hear you’ve got a match with Annandale High School later, that right?”

You nod. “This Wednesday. I’m planning on something with Anzio later this week too.”

“Stupendous!” Griselda grins. “I’ll be watching warmly!”

You hear some noises of people arriving. Shouting.

Oh boy, Kitten’s parents are here. You can hear Nancy too apparently, she’s here too.

“Griselda! Gertrude! Time for dinner!”

You and your sister head down the stairs and meet with Caldwell Smith, bear hugging her daughter until she’s purple in the face. “Ah, Carol! It’s good to see you!”

Kitten flaps about. “Yeah… dad let go please.”

Nancy smiles at you. She introduces a rather handsome boy next to her. “My brother!”

“Oh, they are,” says Preston. “I don’t mean to flatter though but Nancy really seems to look up to you.” He smiles. “Still though, I hope to get to know more about you and your family over dinner, especially if I’m staying here a few days.”

Nancy nods. “Oh, they’re nice people, I’m sure, Preston.”

Dad nods. “Right, into the dining room, time to feast.”

All of you settle around the huge dining table. Dad has settled with a nice roast beef, some meatloaf, salad, and generally enough food for quite the gathering. All of you dig in.

“So, Preston,” says Kitten’s Dad. “What’s a man from Utah like you doing all the way in Virginia?”

Preston shrugs, smiling. “Well, I reckon I wanted to study abroad, see the rest of the States. My boyfriend actually attends V Tech with me too, so there’s that as well.”

Dad nods. “V Tech is a good school, studied there myself.”

“Well, it ain’t as good as UVA,” says Kitten’s Dad simply. Dad grunts a bit. “Ah, don’t give me that, Garnett, we all couldn’t go to good schools.”

Kitten’s Dad asks you, “So, what the hell have you done with my daughter, Gertrude?” Everyone laughs.

You shake your head, chuckling. “I just told her to make some friends, take care of herself more. I really forced her through it, Tankery had a hand in it too.”

Kitten’s Mom says, “Well, thank you so much. She’s so different now!”

Kitten blushes a bit. “Mom, please. I’m still the same girl inside.” Kitten’s Mom and Dad look at each other. “Ah, come on.”

You say to Preston, “So, Preston. You know, Nancy is the finest Gunnery I’ve seen in a while. A real Ace with the 76mm.”

Griselda nods violently. “Yeah! She took down an IS-2 in the Pravda match! It was amazing!”

Preston grins. “I saw! Never thought my baby sister could be so vicious, but well, here we are!” He wraps his arm around Nancy. “That’s my baby girl! Soft as cotton on the outside, hard as steel on the inside!”

Nancy giggles. “Ah, Preston. If only you could feel what it’s like to fire the gun! It’s amazing! It’s a rush, a thrill!”

“I’m sure!” says Preston.

Kitten asks, “So, what’s the neighborhood been like, Mister Pool?”

Dad says, “Oh, fine, fine. That asshole down the street though, you know the goddamn Homeowner’s Association right?” All of you nod. “They got their damn kicks out of telling me not to park my own damn cars in the driveway. And have the goddamn gall to tell me not to fly the American flag in own yard!”

“Jeez,” you say. “What did you do?”

Caldwell laughs. “Ah, he does what he always does.”

Dad nods. “That’s right. I went to their meeting of the Homeowner’s Association, and told them politely to go fuck themselves. To hell with their totalitarian policies, this is my goddamn property you know?”

Kitten’s mom says, “Amen to that.”

Dad laughs. “Ah, but that’s nothing. Preston, I want to make you feel welcome here, I don’t mean to talk about us all the time. What about you, what are you studying at V-Tech?”

Preston shrugs. “Math mostly. Haven’t chosen a Major so far, but I’m looking into Business. I’ve actually got an internship over at Lockheed-Martin.”

“Neat!” says Nancy.

“Networking and connecting, that’s the spirit of it,” says Preston.

You look down at your plate. You didn’t even realize you finished it. Boy howdy though was Dad’s cooking good.

“Say, Dad. We happen to have a load of Girl Scouts on LGA.”

“Do you?” says Dad. “Mind you, you know I can’t go near little girls all the time you know.”

Griselda giggles. “Dad, they cleared you from the Sex Offender registry years ago. It’s not like you actually molested us.”

“Hey, uninformed mothers are a very powerful enemy,” says Dad. “What were you saying, Gertrude?”

You say, “Was wondering if you could send them your cookies, teach them how to cook real cookies you know?”

“Ha!” Dad laughs a bit. “I just cook, Gertrude, it’s nothing, really.”

You shrug at that.

Finally though, everyone finishes up dinner. Why?

“The game’s on,” says Kitten’s Dad. “I tell you something, next week is the Iron Bowl. Auburn vs. Alabama!” He yells to Dad in the Kitchen. “And we all know Alabama is going to take it!”

“Up yours, Caldwell!” Dad yells back.

Kitten’s Dad laughs a bit. He leads Preston into the TV room. “Come on, sport, I’ll teach you the basics.”

Preston smiles. “I’d like that!”

Kitten slides in next to you, smiling. “Want to take a bath together, Gertrude?”

You catch Nancy as she walks out of the Kitchen. “Come on, Nancy, let’s take a bath!”

Nancy blinks as you drag her along. “Oh, okay.”

The water is just hot enough for you to relax in. You all sigh blissfully in the huge tub. Kitten rests herself in her lap, lying back against you. You wrap your arms around her and relax as Nancy dutifully washes herself.

You say, “Nancy, this ain’t a shower. You should relax.”

Nancy shakes her head. “Cleanliness is next to godliness, Gertrude.”

Kitten huffs. “You really should relax, Nancy.”

Nancy pouts. She kicks her surprisingly shapely leg up. “Does this look clean to you.”

You say, “No, it actually looks surprisingly strong, Nancy.”

Nancy smiles. “I’ve been jogging on the side!”

“So, Nancy. Am I a good host or am I a great host?”

Nancy smiles. “Yes!”

You say, “That doesn’t answer my question-“

Kitten says, “Don’t bother. It’s a mathematician’s answer.”

Nancy giggles a bit. “Well, it’s nice staying here. Your sister and father are very interesting people. I actually took a peek at Griselda’s room on the way up here, there’s so much Tankery stuff!”

You nod. “She’s a bit of a nerd like that. It’s like a mini-Kitten.” Kitten pouts, to which you pat her head. “Speaking of which, where are the Japanese students staying?”

“My place,” she says. “Rankin’s taking care of them for now, and I trust them not to completely destroy my room while I’m away.”

You scoff. “Good luck with that.”

With that, you decide to finish your baths right then and there. You don towels and start drying yourselves, when you notice the greatest enemy you have ever faced.

The scale.

“Guys.” You pull it out and stand before it. “I’m going for it.” They look at you, concerned.

You step on.

You lie on your bed, groaning in frustration. THAT SHIT ADDS UP YOU NOW.

You sigh, but at least your bedroom hasn’t changed much. Just a simple bed, a bookshelf full of books you’ll never read, a desk for your computer, and a closet full of clothes you never ended up wearing.

Kitten and Nancy sit at the foot of your bed, still in their towels. “Oh, Trudy, don’t be such a baby.”

“I’m not!” you cry into your pillow.

Nancy says, “It’s probably muscle mass!”

“But guys don’t like musclegirls!”

Kitten frowns a bit. “I happen to think a little muscle is sexy.”

Griselda probes the area, clad in her yellow nightgown. “Hey, what’s all the fuss?”

Kitten says, “She weighed herself.”

“Oooohhhh…” Griselda scratches her chin. “Well, cheer up, Gertrude! Maybe one day you’ll be heavy and strong like a Konigstiger!”

You scream, punching and kicking the bed. “AAAAAHHHHH!”

Griselda giggles. “Heehee! Goodnight!”

Nancy says, “Yes, I ought to head to sleep. Thanks for letting me stay her, Gertrude!” She leaves your room, leaving you with Kitten.

You look back at Kitten. “Ain’t you going to go home?”
