You are Carmen May and you didn't know what you got yourself into when you suggested to train with Beatrice. You both got so psyched up in fact, that you both immediately started as soon as possible.

And now you've finally witnessed some of what Beatrice can do, which includes teleporting up to a large distance. However since you haven't exactly learned to do that yet, you're stuck climbing Mount Rainier with nothing but a tent, a backpack, some food, a map, a compass and some blood packets. When you suggested training, you thought it would be fun, like punching large slabs of meat fun, or running up some stairs fun or even balancing yourself on a bamboo pole fun. Climbing a snowy mountain isn't fun, not at all.

The one thing you're looking forward to though, is when you finally get to the cabin. Jessica decided to take a few days off to hang out with you, but she probably didn't expect to get dragged along for a surprise ski trip.

Who knows, but those couple of mountain lions coming towards you don't look too friendly.

I'm glad you understand that training arcs need at least a segment of mountain-survival to have any real credibility at all.

Thinking fast, you remembered the blood empowerment technique Beatrice told you about and get out one of the blood packets she gave you. Squeezing just a little bit out, you watch a couple of drops hit your skin.

Concentrating, you feel the blood absorb and empower you, as if you just drank one of those energy shots mixed with a protein shake with a hint of angel dust.

[Blood empowerment - Use the energy from blood to strengthen yourself overall(speed, defense, strength) lasts an hour. ]

Feeling confident, you feel as if you can run forever, you can probably out run these damn cats. I mean they can't possibly be faster than a Vampire right?

You do just that, running as if you weren't weighed down with a heavy backpack, everything feels lighter, like you can run forever. You're not even sure if the lions are even following you

After a while of running, you turn back and see after images of yourself. Its strange, you also see the lions being confused and possibly scared.

[Image subjection - Can trick opponents with an after image of yourself use 3 times per day]

You smile to yourself. Maybe it isn't so bad to train like this. Not wanting to be mauled is pretty good motivation.

Feeling a vibration in your pocket, you see a message from Beatrice, you wonder how she got a cell phone to work all the way out here.

Beatrice: Having fun yet?

She's probably watching you from somewhere

>What do you do?

>>
Texting her a quick 'yes' you look around and make rude gestures at the forest and your surroundings.

While you were doing that though, the Lions finally caught up to your scent, considering that you smell like blood. You're still feeling pretty good from the blood you absorbed. You feel that you can probably take 'em.

Taking out your compass for a sec, you see that north is pointed to the right, while the cabin is eastward.

Deciding that you do need some exercise before you get to the cabin. You stretch and decide to assert your dominance over the mountain lions. Wanting to see how your increased speed impacts the way you fight, you run around them, jabbing one of them in their soft area.

You hear the cat whine in pain and lie down. The other one is still confused at the after images you leave behind. You watch him continue trying to bite and swat at air. Just like house cats they can't really tell the difference.

The other cat finally catches onto your scent and faces you, growling and slowly walking towards you in pouncing position.

Staying absolutely still, you stare at it, watching every muscle twitch in anticipation of you moving. You look straight into the cat's eyes as he looks into yours. As if some mutual animalistic understanding that one of you will be losing this fight.

Unfortunately, the impatient lion is the one that will lose first, he lunges for a big pounce but you're too quick for it. Grabbing just beyond its outstretched claws you counter its lunge with a judo throw.

In addition to the throw, you pin it to the ground roughly. "Too bad, but I'm not going to be food today."

The lion looks up at you with fear and respect and submits to your might. Becoming queen of the mountain might suit you after all.

Watching the lions scurry off, you take a look at your map and compass. Where was that cabin again? Oh yeah east. Suddenly you feel someone watching you from somewhere, its probably Beatrice

>Take the long way. Maybe you might run into more fauna to fight

>>
Feeling a vibration in your pocket, you see another message from Beatrice.

Beatrice: What are you standing around for? Don't you want to see your not-girlfriend?

Haha very funny you text her back a rude remark and then put away your phone. Being watched like this doesn't sit right with you. Maybe it was absorbing the blood or maybe it was subduing two mountain lions you feel confident enough to try to take on Beatrice. And so you run westward, the direction you felt the eyes coming from.

A couple of minutes of walking around, you wonder how you should try to track a four hundred year old vampire. You think beating her wouldn't be so hard, after all all you've seen her do is sit around the bar and tell you to do things.

>Twigs, speak to me. See if she made the mistake of making tracks
>Use some of your senses, try to catch her scent
>Bait her with something, make her mad.(Writein)

>>Twigs, speak to me. See if she made the mistake of making tracks
>>
>>32591530
Try all of them, in order twigs, scent, pretend to laze about.
>>
Remembering one of the many survival shows you happened to watch while you were incapacitated, you examine the ground for any broken twigs, just general signs of someone being present around this area.

Luckily you do spot some foot prints. You bet that she didn't taken in account that a Vampire would use human tactics, huh? In addition to that, you sniff the air, hoping to catch a familiar scent of her perfume. Mistake number two, you never wear perfume in the middle of the forest! You follow a trail of slightly broken twigs and the smell of roses to a...clearing?

You sniff around, confused. The smell of roses everywhere. Damn, she's smarter than you thought. She probably sprayed the thing everywhere to confuse you.

Wondering what to do, you finally get an idea when you feel the familiar phone vibrations in your pocket. You smile to yourself. "The only winning move is not to play."

And so, you don't play. In fact you start setting up your tent and get everything ready to sleep in. Despite it being mid afternoon, you feel that you'll be able to get a reaction out of her.

After setting up the tent and laying in it, you feel several vibrations from time to time. Blatantly ignoring them in favor of your one magazine that you thought to bring. Finally you see a knife whirl past, hitting the magazine you were reading and pinning it to a tree.

"You really think you can ignore me?!" you see Beatrice from far away. She's out in the open but...

She's completely out in the open, this is your chance, but it doesn't feel right. Never the less you charge head first for a surprise punch.

Weird, your punches don't usually go through someone as if they're made of air. Oh right, this is probably an illusion. You didn't think this attack through so much. Maybe that's something you need to work on.

You immediate feel someone take you into a choke hold. This time she's definitely real, the smell of roses almost overpowers you. "You put on too much perfume."

"Ha, and you still need to learn the difference between an illusion and a person." Beatrice counters and then laughs in your ear. How annoying. "So how are you going to get out of this one kid?"

Its late afternoon, shadows are becoming larger

>Try focusing enough energy to push her away

>>
Focusing on the shadows looming around, you could've sworn you saw them move further.. you continue focusing on them until they reach Beatrice, you close your eyes imagining them grabbing at her shins and tripping her.

Amazingly enough, they do just that. "W-wait what?!" you feel her let go of your grip and you watch her fall backwards into the snow.

[Darkness restraint - Use shadows to restrain one target for 5 minutes.]

Feeling a smug sense of superiority, you turn around and grin at her. "Who is the one that needs to watch their surroundings now?" you laugh. But weirdly you don't see her frown or beg, she just wears a blank expression on her face. "That's it?" Beatrice scoffs.

"You can't even get up, cut the stupid arrogant act." you say flatly. Beatrice starts laughing. "You still need to work on your awareness kiddo."

You look up and see a massive black haired wolf growling at you, you then look back down at Beatrice. "Not fair!"

The wolf pounces at you.

Dodging things that want to hurt you is becoming second nature, so you do so. The wolf misses her attack, causing some of the snow to fly up and making two massive paw prints where she landed.

You see the massive beast gear up for another attack, but you dodge out of the way of her attack again. By that time Beatrice is finally out of the grip of the shadows. You see her climb one of the trees nearby and sit down on the branch. "It's hopeless! Useless! Just give in!" she laughs, clearly having too much fun subjecting you to this.

Naturally, you throw her a rude gesture which in turn you get rewarded by the wolf trying to pounce on you again.

They're underestimating you. Clearly and blatantly underestimating you.

A good plan forms in your head, a nice and easy plan. You take your time dodging Emma's attacks. You know for a fact that she doesn't want to hurt you too badly. And you definitely use this to your advantage. On one particularly big lunge at you, you decide to use her as a stepping stone to elevate you in the air, taking Beatrice by surprise. This time you land a pretty nice punch to the face.

Finally punching her in the face felt good. She's been practically antagonizing you all day. Especially with dropping you off in the middle of a mountain this morning.

She steps back on the massive branch, completely off her guard. You see this as an opportunity.

Its no time to relent now, the best course of action is to keep her off her footing, so you stomp on the branch a few times causing her to stumble. With her distracted by trying to keep herself from falling, you go for a good round house kick to the stomach followed by breaking the branch and then jumping to another tree.

Your actions don't give her a chance to recover at all causing her to fall into a pile of snow. Emma just lies down and yawns, watching the action going on. You were right about her not being as invested as Beatrice. You give her a thumbs up and then smugly sit on the branch. "So who isn't aware of their surroundings now?"

"Geez kid, when did you get vicious..." Beatrice groans while picking herself out of the snow. "I think I need a time out."

Feeling generous today, you allow her a time out period. Not that it would benefit you too or anything. But still, you keep your guard up just in case Beatrice tries to psych you out. "So since you and Emma are out here, where's Jessica?"

Beatrice leans against a tree to rest. "Well, I guess Gail heard from Jessy that we were going to be here today so she met up with us when we got to the cabin. I took that as an opportunity to try to mess with you. When Emma and I left they were going out to ski." Fantastic sharing a room with Gail is the worst experience possible.

It seems like Beatrice read your mind, "You're not going to be sharing a room with Gail." you brighten up "You're going to be sleeping outside after all." you frown again.

"I know we're not here on a vacation but come on, why do I have to sleep outside?" you sigh. Beatrice laughs. "Well being tough on you does work, after all you do feel stronger right?"

Why does she always have to be right? You do feel stronger and you do feel like you can learn more. Its not too dark out yet anyway. "Yeah, I guess I do feel like I learned some things out here...but I think I do need more training." Playing around can wait, and this might work to your advantage since you have to sleep outside.

Beatrice looks briefly surprised, and then gives you a wicked grin. "Time in!" she uses a shadow to grip the branch you're sitting on, making it break and fall down.

Having your guard up seemed to work as you managed to land pretty gracefully, but by the time you look around both Beatrice and Emma are gone and you feel a vibration from your phone.

Beatrice: How about a new game? If you get back to the cabin before me then you can sleep inside tonight.

Dammit, that cheater. You quickly check your compass and your map, north is is pointing down and the cabin from here is still about south east from here.

I do definitely agree on the latter. But to be fair, Jessica isn't any more useful than Gail (they've both gotten rescued once, but Gail also helped with Jessica's rescue rather than the other way around), you just allow it because she's QT waifu material.
>>
"Crap the tent!" you realize before you take off. Quickly pack up your tent, well as quickly as you can without damaging it. Then you try to get a handle on the area you're in. You take a few minutes to try to find a nice big tree to let you gain a visual on your target.

Remembering one of your earlier feats, you feel that you can probably run the whole way there while. And so while you see a reasonably risky and speedy route that will take advantage of your new found ability.

Being no stranger to a little bit of danger, you run full force through the more danger bits of the forest. Not really caring about Mountain lions, coyotes or even bears. Miraculously you didn't run into anything that threatens to kill normal people. Maybe fate had a different plan for you, however disappointing not seeing a bear is.

--
Practically out of breath, you stumble your way to the cabin and touch the door. "F-Finally. I made it." You slump against the door right when Beatrice and Emma in human form make it out of the woods, admittedly slightly disheveled. "I told you it could've waited." Emma smiles smugly. Beatrice laughs "Like I knew she figured out how to run faster than me. I guess you can sleep inside tonight. But tomorrow is a different story." Geez are you going to have to fight your way inside every night?

You feel the door open and you end up falling backward seeing Jessica. "Oh, I guess I lost the bet then." you hear a celebratory shout from the room, probably Gail.

"Well I guess you learned your lesson huh?" she smiles and helps you up you walk into the cozy cabin living room complete with a chair, two couches and a nice looking flat screen. How does Beatrice afford all of this? She goes to sit down on the couch across from Gail.

"So...how was your day?" you ask while sitting down next to her. This time Gail cuts in. "We went skiing and I pretty much shr---" Jessica cuts her off. "She doesn't know how to ski at all and kept falling. And then she tried to snowboard and practically rolled down the mountain. It was kind of embarrassing." Gail pouts for a while and then smiles again. "Oh yeah" she digs into her stuff and brings out a long katana. "Look what Jiro gave me the other day!" she pulls it out of the sheath and points it at you. "Neat huh?" you kind of jump in your seat while Jessica doesn't look surprised.

"How did you...Why did you bring that? Get it away from my face!" You spout out all at once and then attempt to regain your composure "Can you even use that? Is it even real?"

Gail grins smugly and swings it around before sliding it back into the sheath, with almost smooth efficiency, when did she learn that? "Geez I didn't expect you to panic. It is real. Jiro gave it to me after training like a maniac. You know, the week that you were sitting around in bed?"

"Who is Jiro?" you ask dumbly "And don't swing it around like that! You can cut someone!" Gail laughs and then sits back down, resting the katana in her lap. "Well after we both got beat up, as soon as I could walk normally Gilligan dragged me to Jiro, his second in command and he owns a dojo. He used to be some kind of Yak-ooza guy too." you frown. "How in the hell did you manage that while going to class and guard Jessica?" Gail sheepishly laughed. "I skipped, they don't count attendance at this university anyway. Nowadays everything is online so I can catch up anytime I want." that slacker.

Gail continues. "So yeah, you're not the only one that's trying to get better you know. And yes its definitely real." Jessica sighs and whispers to you. "She's also been showing it off to me since she got the thing."

"Keep your overcompensation stick in its sheathe" You saw exactly how shiny that thing is, and you don't need to explain any destroyed furniture to Beatrice and Emma, whenever the hell they get in here anyway. What have they been doing this whole time?

"Well I guess you don't have to sleep in the cold tonight huh?" Jessica pats you on the back and smiles. She knew about that too? You're about to answer her when Beatrice and Emma come through the door with some groceries. "Since you won today you don't have to hunt for your own food! So enjoy it while it lasts."

You stare at Beatrice, is she just making up conditions on the spot?

You all spend the night eating with a little bit of rough housing.

---

Its morning and...its kind of cold in here. Too cold in fact. "W-Why am I outside?" you're in your pajamas. Fate did smile upon you and let you have shoes and a jacket on though.

Beatrice cackles "Round two!" she declares

One thing that nobody ever told you how to do is how to give up. So you don't, instead you grit your teeth and flip her over in a way that adequately has her loosen her grip. You then take the opportunity to use what those kung fu movies have taught you and over come your opponent by elbowing her in the face and standing back up. You take up a defensive stance, watching her movements. Beatrice stands up and smiles at you, she tosses you the bag you had yesterday. "Today we're playing man hunt. Gail and Jessica are playing too. The first one to catch you and bring you back gets bragging rights and to pick dinner for tonight. The time limit is sunset."

You quickly check the contents of your bag, clothes, a knife and one blood packet "What do I get if nobody catches me?" you ask.

"You get to be able to sleep inside again. Oh and I guess you won't have to hunt for dinner." fantastic. "You might want to get moving. Everyone is going to be up soon." Beatrice smiles and waves. While you quickly hoof it.

----

After clumsily getting dressed when you felt you got away far enough you sigh and grumble. "Nobody ever warns me or tells me about anything." You suddenly hear a rustle in the bushes.

>>Get out of there.
Toss a rock near the bush in the opposite direction of where we are running, too. Or maybe try to use our shadow powers to throw our voice.
>>
Having cause to be extra paranoid today, you decide to mostly leave the bush alone. Well except to toss a rock near the bush. Seeing a hand reach out and grab for it, you decide to run as fast as you can away from there. "So all I have to do is wait until sun down and I win." you smile. Feeling confident.

You figure the only one you really need to worry about as far as hiding is Beatrice and Emma too, who can probably find your scent. Who is incredibly unpredictable. You wonder where you should hide for the day.

>Find a cave, you can probably even catch up on some sleep

Remembering some valuable knowledge from the survival channel, you make your way to the closest stream. Unfortunately, you happen upon Gail, who is trying to wake herself up by splashing water on her face. "Beatrice sure is tough on poor Carmen. But....having whatever I want for dinner? That seems too awesome." she continues talking to herself while sitting around the stream bank, she doesn't realize you're there at all.

>>32599998
Or conversely, keep tailing her so that when Emma tracks your scent she may think that you happened to rub off on Gail causing what she thinks is a false positive. And you can assume that they are going to spread away from each other so you will only have to deal with Gail if she finds you.
>>
Seeing her so vulnerable, you can't really resist. So you decide to use some of the shadow to grab her by the ankle and make her fall into the stream. You don't really see the results of dunking Gail into freezing cold water, as you book it to somewhere else.

---

Wandering the forest for a few hours and a few almost misses later, you feel like you've gotten pretty good at toughening it out in the woods (HP: 25/25). Since its the afternoon its probably lunch time, so you don't want to head to the cabin at all now, as they're probably resting there, or in Gail's case, changing her wet clothes. You smile at that, that was all the time she called you a shrimp, that beanstalk.

Maybe since its been peaceful for a while, you could practice...

Meditation
>>
Finding a nice, comfy spot high up on one of the trees, you sit down and attempt to meditate like you use to do back in high school, right before your parents pulled you out of Judo classes because they were interfering with your studies. You may have stopped doing judo, but you never got out of the habit of meditating at least once a day, well at least until the whole vampire thing

Clearing your mind of thoughts from today, you focus on trying to remain clear. Like you used to do. It takes a little longer to do but you succeed.

Strangely enough, the usual thirst for blood that you usually get around this time of day doesn't really appear. Maybe you should meditate more often

[You can now suppress the need for blood for a longer period of time than most vampires.]

Unfortunately though, your mediation is broken by a pebble hitting your head, you look down and see Jessica smiling at you. "What are you doing sitting around like that? Don't you want to sleep inside tonight?"

"So you're just after some fish?" you jump from the current tree you're on to another and she follows you. "If you want to pick dinner you're going to have to catch me with a better plan than that." you brace to take off.

Jessica grins at that. "What if I said I'll let you take me out on a date when we leave tomorrow?" you stop full in your tracks. "A date?"

"And I'll have an honest chance right?"
"What kind of chance do you want?"
"A kiss, wait two kisses?"
"Ok then, a kiss."
"H-holding hands?"
"Sure."

You feel ready to submit. Sleeping in the cold might not be so bad. And there's plenty of deer around here. Who know maybe you can get Jessica to feed you scraps. You shake you head. "I have to pay for everything right?" she smiles "We'll split a check, or we'll just have an intimate movie night in my dorm, I'll even kick out Gail and hide her key" you prepare to use the shadows to make yourself disappear.

Jessica smiles up at you confidently. "If I were working with Beatrice or Gail, they would've been up there by now" that's true, she stalled you and distracted you enough that an attack from either one of them could probably take you down. "That still doesn't tell me you'll uphold your deal." you counter.

She leans against the tree across from the one you're on and sighs. "You're not very good at asking people out huh?" ouch. "You've been flirting with me a lot for as long as we were even introduced." she got you there. "I find you absolutely adorable and you're admittedly aggressive and yet you haven't asked me out." right again.

"So I'm going to take initiative. Two dates, I'm all yours."

"How about this, I'll definitely take your offer on that date. If you do find me adorable, you won't care if I do this." you grin as you disappear into the shadows.

"Jeez Carmen! Not fair." Jessica says while smiling. Before you leave her though you promise. "I'll pick sushi for tonight, but we'll definitely have one date!" You leave before you get an answer using the shadows as a cover as you hop between trees.

You figure that since neither Beatrice nor Gail was with her, Emma must've been on the ground, waiting for you to jump down.

Its nearly time for the sunset and there hasn't been a sign of Beatrice since this morning. You're kind of worried, you kind of expected her to do something obnoxious by now. Sniffing the air you don't even smell her rose perfume

Despite feeling like you're winning, you decide to take the long way around instead. Taking your time and making sure its after dusk that you make it back to the cabin. Figuring that it probably wouldn't be worth looking for Beatrice this late in the game, you think that she probably would've tried to get the drop on you by now if she wanted to.

Still using the trees as you don't feel like trying to out run Emma on foot. This is almost disappointing, you don't run into Gail or Beatrice at all during your tree top trek home.

Arriving to the cabin, after dusk, you find Beatrice sleeping on the porch. She probably got bored waiting for you to show up. You go up to her and wave your hand in front of her face. Yup she's out cold.

Not wanting to be a sore winner, you shake Beatrice until she wakes up. "How do you fall asleep during a man hunt? Stupid." Beatrice smiles and slumps in her seat. "I thought waiting here after lunch would be the perfect strategy, you're usually really straight forward."

Yeah, it seems like you really did learn a lot in the past two days. "Being Straight forward does have its perks though." you sit down in a chair next to her and wait a while. You see Emma and Jessica walk out of the forest first, you thought you heard your name a few times. You smile and wave while Beatrice yawns. "It looks like we're waiting for Gail now, I'm going to order dinner, what do you want?" you look at Jessica. "Sushi, not the cheap stuff either." you say, making Jessica smile. Beatrice and Emma go inside and leave you two alone.

After a while of waiting, and flirting with Jessica, you figure that its now or never.

"Well you're absolutely adorable and you seem like a good person or vampire...so yes, I'll accept your offer." Jessica thinks for a moment. "But this entire thing with Armada and the root and whatever, are you sure you want to do this sort of thing?"

That is a good question, but you nod and look her in the eyes. "All of that doesn't matter, they'll be stopped. I won't have to make sure they can't kidnap or hurt you." she smiles and kisses you right on the lips. "Tell me what you want to do for our date later." she gets up and walks inside, leaving you in a daze.

Suddenly you see Gail walk out of the forest with a torn up jacket, looking disheveled. "I fought a bear with my bare hands! haha get it? Man that thing was tough! Hey what's wrong with you?"

"....You sure know how to ruin a moment." you say flatly.
