Last time we sorta flooded a good part of the forest. What consequences this will have is yet unknown. We ended up losing a group of scouts who only returned a while later with wild tales and trauma. That was when we underwent a sudden surge of mutations and accidentally triggered the creation of Abomination...who was odd. Not insane or uncontrollable. Still with an somewhat intact mind however...twisted it has become.

Later we noticed bandits looking around who quickly withdrew upon noticing the abomination. At the moment we are doing well full of mutations and promise.

Excuse the pic and me being late. Computer finally went brick on me took me some time to find a temporary replacement.

> I'd been having difficulty nailing down exactly what was odd about broods and broodlands. Their strange mix of influence/control of wildlife, actual soldier forces, and...still sometimes having competitors/resistors in their ecosystem. I'd been attributing that all to them just being evolution incarnate.

Comment from last thread that i didn't reply back to.

There are TWO things to keep in mind when it comes to this.

Current brood is indeed the incarnate of evolution...or to be more precise what happens when you take evolution upon yourself. In other words when you get tired of the old school way and start tampering it with yourself.

Old Brood were more old school evolution. Changes occur if its useful it sticks around or not useful will vanish. Other stuff has a bad habit of staying on if it has no immediate harmfulness.

They both operate by serving as a mobile ecosystem that they take with them. One wild and chaotic the other with order and purpose.

Its believed old broods were wiped out either during the Great Grey Goo or wiped out by the new ones. Either way they have seemingly vanished and been replaced. They seem to no longer be able to keep up and were thus wiped out.

Of course the old broods were not known as broods but rather as the MEDA

Mobile
Ecosystem
Destructive
Assimilation

They supposedly no longer exist and Broods seem to have the largest hate boner for em by far interestingly enough.

Broods codename was 0-OMEDA

Commonly simply said as 0 Omega so as to not get them as easily confused especially as the Brood forces began to rapidly and rampantly shift away from MEDA to a surprisingly extreme degree and speed.

0 Being for overtaken codename for the very M.A.M.A that got assimilated known as Project 0 Omega.

...well i take back the being too hard for your MAMA she can do it alright apparently she is an extra special one...

For you see there are a number of MAMA strains both during, before, and after the fall new ones either developed or simply evolved.

Apparently your MAMA is one of the more advanced forms...so much for being basic.

Be aware though its still gonna be quite costly and you'll have to convince her. Heheh.

Brief bit of backstory for her. It was known from very early on for her abilities acquired her powers as a MAMA she had only one friend who didn't treat her differently because of it suffice to say she fell in love with him. They had a child and he was thrown out because of it. Simply put certain traditions were broken, taboos were offended, and good ol fashion emotions saw to it. Apparently they were not amused by him ever since though she has refused to take on another and seems to feel guilt for what happened to him.

Her child despite actually being her only actual offspring was the one by far annoyed the most by her motherly attitude and treatment this of course worried her and made her mot concerned but despite her best efforts her child later ended up leaving.

Ever since Memor and clora, I've always just imagined Brood as (to put it incredibly crudely) "Fleshy Humanoid Tyranids. Less emphases on bugs, more on flesh monsters. Buildings and underground labrynths of fleshy tunnels, fleshy giants and soldiers who literally grow guns which shoot acids and plasma and fire from their bodies, mandatory hivemind, and literally being able to adapt to anything the world could throw at them.

I always felt there was a sort of heirarchy, since Clora and the sleeping "Heart" were both humanoid "Queens" and the flesh giant we found was the "Brood King", where the higherups more powerful people looked more human (or were capable of looking more humanoid) while the lower guys really did look like flesh abominatoins of all sorts.

Only Clora's brood had a more humanoid appearance in that was only the beginning after she got more samples she started breaking off like crazy. Nor did Clora ever really showed her true form she like morphing and prefered a monstrously humanoidish appearance allowing her to enjoy a no small multitude of abilities. She constantly tinkered with that form when not experimenting or enjoying another. Gun growing wasn't all that popular overall they wielded an entire ecoystem made up of...large variety not to mention the special creation of the individual brood mothers. Each have their own preferences so its actually possible to identify which brood forces to each brood mother.

As in each of their own personal theme. Clora's theme was a bit more humanoid and fleshy compared to others. She also was considered rather freaky for being interested in tech usage to such a surprising degree. She modified her forces to allow usage of it easily and freely. Though unlike her sister she only preferred potential usage instead of full blown assimilation. That sister happens to be Rizal's favorite auntie on her mother's side by the way. Despite being seen as the crazy one.

'officer' brood forces appearances vary WILDLY. No real common theme besides the fact they wield influence among the Brood.

I just find it amusing when anons claim there are other faction more suspicious or better at being sneaky when not once have you never ONCE seen an actual Umbra agent.

They seem to get the lack of spotlight confused with being sneaky.

the so called 'psy' corp for instance. Isn't sneaky but actually isolationist. Umbra meanwhile is out and about doing shit despite being one the hardest hit by the Fall.

Free factoid.

There was only ONE Megacorp who didn't survive the Fall. They were Logi Corp who drove themselves into the ground for the sake of others. They despite being one the best set up and one of the most powerful mega corps out there they didn't make it out of the Fall. To this day Corp Council still has a seat reserved for them due to what they did.

If it wasn't for them a few megacorps would of never have made it, the fall would of been a lot worst, lives would of been lost, more stuff would of been intact, and Logi Corp would still be around.

You know General Viczar remembering way back when with logistics despite everything LITERALLY being hellish and falling apart yet by some miracle they were getting supplied?

World was falling apart the apoclypse was nigh?

that was Logi Corp. Despite everyting going on they were out there amongst the storm doing all they can. For you see Logi Corp was the megacorp of logistics. No one was better then them in the private industry when it came to logistics. They used all of that to keep supplies supplies moving, things to wear they needed to go, transportation, and even completely redlined all their infrastructure to the very end.

As time wore on Logi Corp facilities and routes started falling silent one by one. No one ever really noticed as they somehow seemed to be operating just fine.

They were actually being heavily targeted since the very beginning thanks to their capabilities. Despite them falling one by one they somehow kept everything running to the very end.
>>
>>32555576
The Badass Fed-ex of the post apoc, long may they be remembered.

I imagine their facilities and transport networks are still highly contested and in use today, like Roman roads after the fall of rome.
>>
Rolled 99

>>32555576
The end of Logi Corp was realized until AFTER the Fall. Despite being regularly pinged eventually Corperate council got together and decided to investigated. They put together ALL their resources and sent out a team to very last known HQ of Logi Corp.

What they found was pure carnage. The place was utterly wrecked looked as if they were holding out until the very end and for some reason had completely torn apart their own facilities.

At the CEO's office they found a simple message on a single flickering monitor and a button.

the message was a simple one simply stating goodbye.

The button push revealed Logi Corps fate.

Turned out they were targeted since the very beginning. Their HQ alone was hit from day one and was besieged until the very end they somehow held out the entire time.

They redlined all their infrastructure which was legendary in its effectiveness when it came to logistics. One by one their routes were taken down only to be retaken by their forces no matter the bloody cost. They escorted caravans and their routes defended their packages to the very end. They even tore apart their own facilities to keep their stuff working just long enough.

Their stuff was redlined beyond the point of no return to total destruction but they couldn't stop.

One by one thier facilities went dark whether from the constant threats or from them just falling apart no one knows. Yet despite all their difficulties they never once asked for help and simply kept on pushing.

One by one their routes fell, so they hard to divert or retake them no matter the bloody cost or damage.

One by one their facilities fell so those who were left worked that much harder.

They did this till the very last day of the fall where the very HQ of Logi corp wasn't even spared. On the last day of the Fall just it ended so too did Logi corp. Far past the point of them being able to even exist.

Fine, after this we need to get to developing some offensive mutations or improving our offensive psionic abilities though.

We also need to improve the farms (the minder monsters we developed ought to help with that...but we'll need to let Mama work on them more so that they bring monsters for harvesting to us).

Cleaning the base up more and getting the Security Hub, Communications, and info-stacks online would also be very advantageous.
>>
>>32555811
Sounds like a plan. As for offensive mutations, we still have to work on the Psionic-extended sight or Psionic-Scrying at things from a distance/behind cover.
>>
Rolled 37

>>32555837

When I mentioned the psionic-scrying I meant more of a "See people's auras whether or not they're hiding behind something" sort of deal.
>>
>>32555837
Though, apart from knowing where our enemy is form a distance we'd still need some kind of long range weapon to make that effective.
We do have Psi-Lasers at least, but those require clear line of sight.
>>
>>32555852
I thought as much.
>>
Rolled 97

>>32555798
Basically they did what they did best and then some destroying themselves in the process due to the great lengths, pains, and ordeals they went through to keeping it all working to the very end even facing their own destruction they didn't falter.

To this day Logi Corp is a legend even if they didn't make it out of the Fall. Interestingly enough Corps date the end of the Fall to the day Logi Corp fell believing that to be the closest and most proper date to it. As they considered the fact that Logi refused to die before the Fall did so they could do whatever it is.

>>32555646
Most were actually destroyed beyond repair or overtaken. Still though their routes are extremely hotly contested though their facilities are heavily wrecked many still poke around as it was well known the Logi corp was AMAZING at finding shit you need and getting it there even during the very worst of the Fall they pulled it off. Spitting in the face of the exploiters and putting many of them to shame.

They didn't make it out though but everyone remembers them even the most ass backwards of tribals.
>>
Rolled 78

>>32555855

Psionics seems to operate on a System Shock 2 sort of level so sending fireballs and lightning strikes from our hands/foreheads ought to be doable if we train for it. There's also telekinesis.

These things would be limited by the strength of the psy-users but I suspect that we will find something to help with that if we continue to look through the labs (and perhaps look through the other labs that our comms connect to also). After all, if whatever is in there caused us to mutate psy-affinity just by us being nearby it imagine what it'd do if we actively tried to boost our psy using it?
>>
>>32555930
Too bad we don't have any crystals.

I'm wondering about the possibility of developing large tesla coils with generators, and having mutants simply manipulate the lightning to targets far away with their minds. Reduce the strain on them no longer needing to produce the electricity, just guide it.

Have to be done right, else we'll get a lot of mutant-cinders.
>>
Rolled 42

>>32555992
That's a good, creative sort of idea it'd require extensive research to develop the tesla coils but we have super brains and it'd probably be worth it in the end.

On the other hand in the same vein we could just set up piles of pitch-soaked wood around the base that we light whenever we need to defend ourselves and they can direct those flames.

Video shows Logi affiliated PMCs fighting it out against a gigantic tide of zombies jamming the tunnels where behind them stood large traisn on the high speed rails.

Another feed shows a refugee camp being overrun by a tide of hungering literal cancerous wave of mutated creatures. In the fore front and protecting the evacuation stood Logi guards holding them off till they got loaded up and went off. There wasn't enough room for everyone so the guards stayed behind to their doom.

another vid shows a flying ramshackle caravan of Logi craft with even more heavily beaten fighter escort desperately trying to hold off the flying dark swarms of foes seeking to overrun them. Despite being horrendiously outnumbered and gunned they held out until a gigantic titan of a ship phased into exitance. Realizing the danger it held and knowing they couldn't stop it, but seeing so close to their objective(a childrens school of all places full of orphans and being guarded by heavily undersupplied PMCs). The fighters proceeded to perform a kamikaze run on it. Damaging it and providing just enough time for the exhausted PMCs to finish them off.

Another feed showed a Logi facility being cannabalized to keep the logistics running and to create needed supplies. The place was utterly bare bones and barely running but they kept at it anyway. A few images pop up showing what it was like before.

Another image shows some managers of Logi giving speaches before the ragged members who coughed up a rough cheer before going back to work.

Vid shows Logi troops holding off a titanic forces of rampant bots and zombies trying to punch through and get to their facilities. They held them off until abruptly the lights and feed cut out only for a message to display on how there was no longer enough to keep it powered/running.

In other words they held off until there was nothing left for them.

Another feeds shows them moving through a wasteland to a gigantic battleground where stood a dizzying array of standards and uniforms. All soiled and all extremely weary but they continued to do battle even as they slowly ghoulified, mutated, coughed up bits of their lungs ect. Many of the people there were actually former foes and often previously the most hated of enemies.

The supplies they brought was meant to keep the war effort running. The forces in question broke through a barricade where they kept the above forces trapped squatting in mostly crushed urban ruins that provided precious little for them. By this time it looked like the vehicles they used could barely run and the guard forces were all quite haggard. Many of them weren't even proper soldiers.

So almost exactly like rice paddies, but with rows of crops like a normal field.

Sounds perfect for aquaculture, the fish'll feed on the plant roots and their shit will fertilize the soil.

I'd like to note that finding fish that are suitable for our purposes shouldn't be very hard. They just have to like eating plants and/or like eating the fish that like eating the plants.

so yeah digging around in the lakes who indeed find fishies. Plenty of them and a surprisingly large variety at that. So we were able to get the types of fish desired by us successfully despite the lack of equipment we still managed to pull it off.

We COULD try to mutate psionics and create a sort of "Green Thumb" mutant, who is capable of interacting with plantlife. Would be good to get the forest on our side eventually.

Continue improving the farms' yield. It might help to divert/make a stream into the farm from the lake and one out of it into one of the other streams so that waterflow occurs (preventing stagnation) and the sediments+nutrients from the lake are constantly being deposited into our farm to enrich it. Gates/grates or some sort of system so our fish don't escape ought to be developed, of course.

Can we be notified when our farms get good enough that we'll have a food surplus?

After this we should toss the problem at Mama to see if she can improve our crops/fish in any way. After that we should expand the farms, and then we ought to be (at least) at equilibrium and so we can work on mutations/psy more.

I'd vote for starting with the Auravision, and then developing hypodermic claws (or something like that), and then developing poisons for the claws (among which would be a weaponized immune system, because we would only need to get into one skirmish for people to go "Nuh-uh, ain't gonna fuck with those guys" once they learn we have that.)

Yes I was. I love those fuckers dearly. The farm is a great thing to have. I just hope it goes well for us is all.
>>
>>32557240

It'll do well because we're kicking our asses over it. It's the same as the Memor kicked their asses for biofuel or the Bloodsnows kicked their asses for the Wintadooms.

The best part is we're currently improving the farm/crop quality, and so when we expand its size (and build new defenses around it afterwards) it'll be greater yield than having just expanded it mundanely.

Improving the farms has continued in particular with some digging of trenches to create a stream to the lake and back around again thanks to one mutants noting of the problem of stagnation. Here we GO!

Our forces taken some of the mutated smaller animals with the goal to lure out bigger ones. Well simply put it worked well...too well in fact. the critters we brought all got munched and the things they bothered came looking for more.

Plus it just so happened that they were REALLY fuck big. Like goddamn these fuckers were huge and our hunters soon found themselves in trouble. Even using what firearms we have wasn't nearly enough. As in things went quite poorly for us.

Not to mention the smaller stuff the minders caught also came forth as in they were the ones who lured the bigger ones down upon us. They had some keen intelligence all right and picked over the left overs/scraps of our fallen.

Lost 50 troops.

Work has begun on improving the plants we were using to create crops...things went terribly wrong. Even Mama would of been in trouble if it wasn't for the interference of the Abomination. You see...the plants not only were they sorta tainted to such a degree has to be utterly toxic and with little to no nutrition they also grew a taste for flesh as well as the means to take that flesh. Things weren't pretty we lost a few guys as the 'crops' now mutated flesh hungering plants started going after people us included.

So yeah we sorta lost a number of people before they could be dealt with(see retreating outside the farms and our base). they are lurking out there though...somewhere waiting.

Hmm, you know, now that we're playing Psi-People again I'm wondering if we could experiment into the nature of Psi itself. Psi comes frmo within, while Magic comes from without.

I wonder if we could try and attach wires and divert small amounts power into peoples brains to increase psi-power.
>>
Rolled 16

>>32559975

I would rather keep on working on the farms myself, just for a turn or two more, before we work on mutations.

And I would rather it be mutations than psy, because any psy-powers we develop will be heavily dependent upon the users' power level and so only a fraction of our population will be able to use them effectively. Whereas weapon-mutations will apply to our entire population evenly. Also, we'll (eventually) get our lab cleaned up and running again at which point we'll have psy research equipment that'll make any psy research/training vastly easier.
>>

That's true, but a basic weapon mutation and then cleverly using/improving our current mutations (which are all full of possibilities) should be well within our range. Some basic stat-improvement mutations are probably doable also, and would be of great worth.

I just want to make sure that we all have a basic level of competence before we delve into psionics. After all, our psy weak members have naught but their fists to protect themselves with right now.

We should, of course, consult Mama on whether we still have room to play with mutations. I think that we do but she's the expert.

I think we should probably wait until after we do any weaponization on them though, or maybe we shouldn't so that we don't lose any weaponized aspects. Who knows?
>>
>>32560575
Problem is tracking and keeping up and refining with every single mutation and making sure they all work in conjuction and not conflict.

It'd be possible maybe is someone kept a pastebin or something.

In addition, even supposing we do keep everything in one base line mutant, there are risks to that.

I vaguely remember this discussion ages ago about if it'd be a good idea to create the "Ubermemor/Ubermutant" who has the best of the best traits we can give (the strong-arms strength, tectus stealth, octo-psi brain), and the answer was "it leaves you too susceptible to disease, with no chance of a different species developing an immunity". Diversity was found to be more safe/effective against risk.
>>
>>32560663
Ah, here:
>"The reason why there are different mutants?
>So in case someone comes up with a nasty virus to wipe them out. Many strains works against that BIG time. Good ol fashion ethnic diversity but on steriods. Meanwhile rapid mutation insures the unexpected. "

Of course, now we have a super immune system.

Castes have their advantage, but we'll talk about them when we start to bump up against the complexity limit, for the moment I think we still have playroom. Though we are currently waiting on Mama's answer to that.

Anything can be beaten given time, resources and will. It'll be hard though.

Oh, I just had a better idea than turning our immune system into a disease. Since it's adaptive/mutative we should have Mama work so that it'll transmit all the diseases (or just the nastiest) the user has ever had into whoever gets scratched. That'd be some real wasteland mutant tier shit. Maybe it could give them super necrotizing AIDS too, just for a final fuck you.

>>32560828
It's possible that we may need to devote an action so that Mama can assess it. That's usually what it means when Genie won't answer something.

On that note, anyone think we should make the area around our base as filthy and disease ridden as possible? It might be hard to make it worse than it already is considering we're in a wasteland, and it'll definitely be difficult to do that sort of environmental change on any large scale to deter intruders.

Actually, seeing as we're already in a wasteland it might not be worth it. We'd have to make it sooo filthy in order to deter monsters+mutants from coming in that the effort probably isn't worth the reward.

A safe assumption remember your in wasteland aka the homeground of mutants in all their might. Part of the reason why humans hate mutants so much is because they already have 'land' that is theirs and humans can't use it anyway.

What they forget to realize is that just because the wastelands are crawling with mutants doesn't mean a mutant is cut out to survive there or maybe they evolved elsewhere.

Let's give Mama some resources and our most brainiest guys to both:
1. " go over our current mutations and streamline or potentially combine them (in a good way)." and point out specific risks of conflict or danger

as well as

2. Develop clear guidelines to mutations, recommended waiting periods and complexity warnings
3. Create a sort of "Instability Defcon" ranging from 1-10 with 1 being as stable as a human being to 10 being literally made of instability, so we can accurately track how our current mutations and being affected on our population and what risk level we are at.

>A King's Fall

My fall was not glorious nor was my death. I died a tired old man and I really died a long time ago. Sure I survived but that was as a reaver the old me was dead. Reaving is something that bores one but there was little I could do thanks to the power of my replacement. hm to think my fall would be upon the unprecedented. I the youngest Reaver fell before the Youngest Queen.

Somehow the bitch had won over Warlord Slag of all people. They waged a long and bloody war but slag was winning every battle. then somehow he came to her and...next thing i knew they stood united before me. Never saw that coming a small worn out pack and some slagged bandits brought me to my knees.

Where did I go wrong?
>>
Rolled 11

>>32561594
I ended up realizing it on my journeys and i could returned but i couldn't...if I did then Slag wouldn't be able to protect her anymore.

My mistake while letting me become the youngest reaver to ever exist also damned me as the king of their kind.

For you see ravagers are spawned from greed as their purpose I had something else. I had love instead. For that sake I became a ravager as the thing I needed no one else could get and i could never afford. So I decided I needed to take it and take it I did...but too late. By the time i had the precious medicine to cure my baby sister of her ailments it twas too late...my homelands, sacrifice, and effort was all for naught as it all got burned and later slagged.

I sacraficed everything to get the medicine that would cure her while meanwhile only getting stuff that would help but that could only do so much. I sacrificed everything for that and when i finally had it I found it was too late.

Only later would i find out what Slag actually did for me to this day i owe him the greatest debt. I suspect he did it so as to keep my silence about his past. Slag is not an unusual story per a say but we both had an understanding and he did not want it known.

While i was distracted was when they both striked I distracted and distraught my purpose my resolve weakened proved my downfall. I was on me knees before the now queen my troops largely dead or surrendered where she made her proclamation. My homeland was slagged all that i was or will be crushed. Death would of been a merciful fate but she spared me wanting me to soak in it as long as possible. I could of returned for vengeance but that was when Slag approached me.

There he informed me of what i already knew my bloodline would be perished alas my family, people, and lands were already long dead.

Slag however corrected me turned out my sister was thrown out when it was known of her 'dealings' with me while pregnant no less. Her husband died during a trip and resources were scarce. While wandering about to die she stumbled upon some outcasts who took her in.

To this day I owe a debt to the outcasts for their mercy and good hearts.

She however was ill and what treatments I had arranged were lost thanks to what happened. despite that she hung on. When their lands were torched it was not unusual for outcasts to be spared and so they were. When Slag arrived by that time she had died...but not before bearing a daughter. Realizing the danger the girl was in he took her in and upon realizing she had the same sickness of her mother came to me.

Turns out the cure I finally secured would not go to waste after all.

However in order to secure her safety I could never return for as soon as I did so the queen would start looking into matters much more in depth and she will be found. While she was full of herself she wont bother looking too deeply.

So in order to make sure my niece would live i never did return. I wandered the wastes solo kept my distance and watched over her as best I could. Consider my surprise to find out she decided to become a ravager like her uncle and served int the Queen's personnel pack? She even became the youngest Slagger.

Even found some poor younglings thrown out considered the kindness of what Outcasts did so long ago I think I will return the favor. No doubt everyone thinks I am long dead so maybe now I can finally get away with it.

Hopefully I can hang on long enough that they wont get themselves killed and if they do so stupidly I will be dead so as to not witness it.

At a certain secret meeting strode in a certain man chatting to a globe.

"About time you got here Mr. Light of Aduro Corp."

"Well excuse me for evading Umbra agents."

"Ain't no body ever has found one of these so called agents of Umbra. They always worked through proxies."

"Doesn't mean they don't exist."

"Or so you claim."

"Oh shut up already everyone knows why were here yes," interrupted a third person.

"Now then lets get started."

We know that Umbra lost their precious CEO and she has gone to ground. She doesn't seem to bother with them anymore and their defenses are greatly weakened NOW is the time to strike."

"Here in the heart of Ashad stands the Umbra HQ. Here we will find out the truth of Umbra. That is why you are all here Psy corp, Makgo Corp, and others we are all here to strip of the mask.Ali Company is a dead end. Now we will know for sure Umbra never once has ever used one of their own. Even with Corporate Council or their CEO led to nothing now however we shall know the truth."

"As requested this elite crack team will break in and find out about Umbra. Failure is NOT an option their defenses are in disarray. We will never get an opportunity like this ever again."

and so an elite crack team was sent crawling through sewers, evading zombies, bumbling the the darkness, even cracks of light, sneaking past a brood infestation, and finally standing before them utterly draped in shadows stood Umbra HQ in all its sickening glory.

Somehow it stood out amongst the rubble and the city fell apart in such a way as to utterly conceal it in shadows. Even the grounds before it flickered back and forth between light or dark. Shadows however stayed day or night.

The infamous Umbra Main HQ. So they approached activating devices allowing them to avoid the shadows and whatever defenses lurked within. To bypass it all and so they did before they ended it. Deep in the HQ they were now...and not all of their number popped back into existence.

So they continued on...in strangely abandoned quarters. Where shadows played tricks with the eyes almost allowing you to see the shadowy after images that occured there. Bustling with activity..suddenly locked down, panic, slaughter, silence, quiet muttering and whispers abounded. Almost as if showing the order of events...but not.

continuing onwards they found images but this one revealing a young Volk and a certain man argueing while in a nearby room through the pains of cracked dusty glass one could see the flickering shadowy remains of a hospital like room with a little girl resting.

The conversation they heard pieces off.

"How could you do that to your own daughter. Brood based biotech is impossible to control. I know how its all the rage but its tainted irrecoverably."

"How was i suppose to know! Who says biotech isn't accidentally infected with Brood coding? I did what i must I know you can do it Volk."

"To let this happen...ah I wont refuse offspring are not guilty of the sins of their forefathers. Make sure I am not interupted and i will need these things."

"Do you wish to save your daughter? Then don't ask questions."

The images faded away into the shadows as the conversation seemed to have continued.

Continuing onwards they can see the wrecked remains of an operation room with clear signs of battle...before something broke out.

Upon getting closer they could see a shadowy Volk operating on a young girl and...a cage containing something that he inserted needles into before dragging it out...a Arch Brood Queen specimen. A dead Brood Queen, and even a live brood mother. he moved swiftly between them doing unspeakable things as he cackled madly with a terrible light in his eyes.

That was when one could hear the rumbling and gunfire.

Outside the door stood the man with whom the argument had occurred standing firm in a blockade holding off the oncoming onslaught with a few Shadow Sentinels.

Eventually they couldn't hold off. Looking back at the now reappearing image of the operation...showed a sullen Volk at a terrible full of debris, tools, and lifting up an odd device before inserting it into the young girl. Just as the doors exploded inward and the lights cut out before the bangs occured. Some flashes one could see a fleeing Volk...just as something slithered forth and the screams began.

Walking through the corridors one could see the shadowy images of something moving with blinding speed and slaughtering all int its path. Wrecking everything.

Eventually they found a giant hole with utterly everything destroyed but when they walked through the stuff reearranged it. There clearly they could see it all move putting itself back together to show this next part.

I like to think that Dr. Kaharr is off having adventures of his own, but I can't decide what sort of direction he would've gone off on.
Maybe his near-death experience during the pile in to the secret bunker-complex changed him and he decided he'd travel the world and invent things to make him more fighty.
Then again, G-Day is more likely to have had a more profound effect on him. Perhaps he goes around the world travelling as a non-combatant, having distilled what happened on G-Day into a sustained aura so that nothing can hurt him. Just a sombre individual who had experienced the grief of the world and is now searching for something to go on living for, since he'll never have to fight for his life again with the aura of grief.

Later on they moved onwards to find clashes between zombies, brood forces, and defending forces. Climbing upwards this scene seemed to continue endlessly when suddenly near the top the zombies started to turn upon the zombies began to turn on each other and brood who they had previously were working together with.

When they entered the first floor and went into a office they saw the earlier woman who made the announcement staring at a hologram of the girl's father with sad eyes and a strange expression before suddenly cracking a grin. That was when she begun to strode out onto a deck before a collapsing city within the throes of falling. With a united front of zombies and brood...

While striding that way she slowly turned into the earlier young girl upon her getting outside one realized as she strode outwards the sounds of amazement, an almost wave as suddenly the zombies turned upon the brood forces.

At the desk searching around the team soon found what they were looking for and with a flash and whirr before finding themselves descending on a platform downward past flashing lights and underground.

That was when it stopped and opened up to reveal.

Dr. Kaharr is sorta lost and pondering the meaning of Volk's words. He had focused at that for so long he isn't quite sure what to do with himself.

while we're fluffing here's something I wrote for mama but never posted because Genie posted the real story... seems a shame not to contribute though.

Some fluff for Mother Clarissa:
Lab tech clarissa never talked much about her childhood. Being created in a lab like the one you work in leads to some awkward conversations. Whether to believe she escaped using the powers she was built with or was sent to steal a rival lab’s secrets was something her co workers needed to decide for themselves. What was obvious was that she was a brilliant lab technician, with an intuitive knowledge of the biosciences. Many problems were solved because of an offhand comment or absurd question from her.

Sister Clarissa never talked much about her time in the labs. Stories of organ harvesting and gene jigsaw lead to some awkward conversations. Nobody in the cloister knew whether she left with a golden handshake or a price on her head. What nobody doubted was that she was drawn to the church to study compassion - to learn how to contact another mind without being vulnerable to it’s perversions. No wound was too icky nor mind too twisted for her to try to help.

Mother Clarissa doesn’t talk much about her time in the nunnery. None know whether she won’t say where it was because it is a smoking ruin or to protect it from unwelcome attention. What nobody doubts is that she left to spread her cause - to teach others how to touch the mind of another, even if they mean you harm.

A whirring server room containing all the critical data of Umbra Corp.

Upon getting closer they began to go through the files. At least some of them anyway as alarms were sounded so actions had to be taken quickly, some slowed down the destruction of data, others interfered with the defenses, and a few trawled through it all getting all they can.

That was when the one who was trawling through paused in utter shock.

"...it can't be."

"It CAN'T FUCKING BE THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE."

"The others had to drag him away during their escape. Many had already died and the one who saw whatever it was kept muttering to himself. Somehow a few made it out and got onboard a craft and zipped away despite heavy pursuit and defenses.

That was when they all asked what he had found it.

...It doesn't exist.

"What doesn't exit?"

"UMBRA DOESN'T FUCKING EXIST! IT IS A GODDAMN FUCKING SHELL COMPANY IT SHROUDS UP UNSAVORY PRACTICES, CONCEALS THINGS, AND ACTS AS A FUCKING CARTEL FOR THE SO CALLED 'ASSOCIATE' COMPANIES."

...Wut?"

" It never existed. It was nothing but a shadow concealing what was actually going on. The so called CEO?

"Voted by a council of the associated owned companies from their own CEOs to act as a face and go between. All the so called 'employees' were all contractors of their so called affiliates. They were all in it from the very fucking begining."

"Make a shell company to conceal the happenstances, pool resources, use it as a front for a cartel THAT is how it was all so successfull...so simple so brilliant. The reason why no one could ever find shit on Umbra was simply because it exist. People thought it was a shadowy institution utterly failing to realize it was nothing but a facade of shadows nothing more then it actually appeared."

"...can't be."

"its fucking brilliant is what it is. How the hell can anyone do something like that..."

"The reason why no one could find dirty was simply because there was nothing to begin with."

"What if this is what they want you to think?"

"You any idea how many Umbra facilities and associates we hit? What we hunted for? This is the best info we got so far the personnel data archives of Umbra itself in a secret location of its own personnel megacity. We even hit secret archives as well."

Meanwhile in a certain a certain CEO giggled upon realizing it all.

"What is so funny they know the truth now?"

"Hm or so they think its right in their face and they can't seem to see it."

"What? But they-"

"heheh yes amusing isn't it?"

"And that is EXACTLY why they shall fail."

It is awful that your fluff is limited in it's medium to these quests, as others have mentioned before, a book or maybe a wiki would only start to do it justice.

It would not be justice for this setting of yours to live die with these quests alone.

The only riddle I can surmize right now is that trying to look for Umbra is like trying to find a shadow with light.

For every light, as much as darkness is dispelled, a new shadow is made so it would be impossible to truly find shadows with light.

You can't find Umbra by looking for it.

You know, looking at it, you will be amazed at the lengths people will go to to save their dying loved ones. The Old Man becoming the youngest Reaver in existence to find a cure for his little sister, Jenny's father doing unspeakable things to his daughter so that she might live.

Mr. Light too was not untouched by the hand of death one dear. He always close to his secretary, "Cassy" he always called her and she was close to him. He knew her from even before his transformation, when she was just a simple employee of his when he managed the 'Mr. Light' lightbulb store. Even after his fateful transformation, she was perhaps the only one he would tolerate to still call him "Lenny." He always talked to her more than anyone else, she eagerly listening to him tell her about Mentis Industria, the perfect hivemind for everybody of every race could live in harmony, and no need for mutation or psi-potential. How he could see the very energy of the lifeforce of peoples souls as they lived and died, and that he would be able to save them from death with it.

He was absolutely devastated when she was struck by a terminal illness. For all the miracles he could do, sight for the blind through direct radio transmission from camera's to the brain, or legs for the lame through repulsor pads placed on leg stumps, he could not stop the very lifeforce of Cassy draining from her body.

If he was already more detached from humanity before, after Cassy's death he became more stoic and recluse than ever, and could barely be pried away from the Guide Light and sphere he held in his hands. After her funeral that was when he began talking to it. He never hired another secretary again, but it seemed after that day the sphere filled that roll well enough. It always seemed to reminded him of things Cassy normally did for him.

But ever since that day, the Mentis Industria was at the forefront of his life's purpose, and still is to this day.

I was actually toying with something possibly related to Adero but not Adero itself based on the anon's proposed Power Armor Government Remnants.

If you recall, before the fall, Adero was heavily invested in and beloved by the Sci-Fi community for making their wildest fantasies come true.

The jist of it is, what if a group of people were buried in a vault with advanced space colonization technology and conditioned to believe they were colonist from/on another planet?

How would it change then, when rather than mere vault dwellers trying to survive the post apocalypse, these people acted and behaved as though they were on a hostile alien planet and had to adapt as such.

Oh, also we're totally gonna have an actual 'Heroic' Hero as our leader.

Honestly that depends on where they end up, and if Genie would be so lenient as to allow them to be in a place designed to be mostly uninhabited by other humans or zombies.

But more than likely to explain the humans the zombies and the centuries of buried civilization, they were raised and conditioned to believe they were citizens from an entirely different planet with it's own advanced utopian society and culture and language (all of which were conceived by some of the greatest nerds of pre-fall).

They had send out a colonization ship on a long cryo-frozen expedition to find new planets to inhabit, when a freak gravity storm crashed their "ship" onto our "primitive planet", waking the crew from cryostasis long afterward (explaining a bit of decay and potential breech to the "ship" by zombies or what have you in the lower levels)

Even armed with a "universal psychic translator" device, to help with the language barrier, they have absolutely no knowledge the world beyond what their computer could "attempt to download" from their "computer networks" (whatever survives of what the Post-Apoc has for an internet)

So how do you guys think streamlining/combining our mutations will be? Do you think that we'll just get a single mutation with all the benefits we previously had from the 3, a straight transfer and that's it...or do you think Mama will be able to work in a little synergistic extra boost for us?
>>
>>32568305
A major con I can imagine is if she's had to "water down" many of our mutations to make us more stable, which could be another reason to specialize ourselves into different types of mutants.

But if it can be done not only copy for copy but boosted and synergized, the Uber-Guanyin will be serious thing to contend with in time. Let alone the near dozen mutations we already have planned since thread 1.
>>
>>32568362

I would be a bit peeved if it took 3-5 turns to streamline our mutations...and the end result was inferior to what we had before.
>>
>>32568362
Unfortunately, Mummy dearest is not Clora, and cannot (yet) by herself create enough numbers to create even a stable population of new mutants (or maybe just can't create new kinds of mutants at all).

She also isn't so highly motivated on evolving herself personally like Clora either despite the offering of resources, if only we could manipulate a reason for this, as one of Clora's initial one was to beat back Volk after they were locked in that lab for a time.
>>
>>32568380
Indeed, although we did spend an entire thread on improving the farms and after all these nat1's. . .we've had 4 nat1s related to food, 2 for farming and 2 for hunting in the past two threads I think.

Hopefully, if we get a third for either we can invoke the 3 nat1 rule like we did for the Wintadooms.
>>
>>32568398

Mummy dearest is certainly capable of creating a new population of mutants, but it would take a considerable amount of psychological massaging to convince her to do it seeing as she has issues from her first child leaving her in semi-disgust.

That being said, I think he was talking about just applying newly developed mutations to certain portions of our population and not others so that we developed castes.

>>32568422
You know, if we hit the farms with a third nat1 in this thread...and it's the third nat1 we have on an "improve the farms" action then we would get a double bonus and the best goddamn farms in the wastelands.

>>32568483

The Elsh could electrocute entire sections of water, the Vok could fly forever...even when sleeping, and those Bandit-Mutants with their toughness could survive being cut in half like it ain't no thing.

We don't really even have anything like that planned/in the works.

We've found that unless you're mountain-sized it's best to try to just pack as much power into a normal sized frame, because otherwise you just have tons of weakpoints and are slow and such.

I assumed with the speed mutation some wanted to do that would help there. Plus any armor mods we get. But I'm sure we will have to start some where to become mountains. Improve bone and muscles things like that. We got the blood problem dealt with, so that's one down.

Dr. Kaharr.

You found yourself wandering through the facility while you won...it well your not quite sure what to do with yourself anymore. You accomplished your major life goal and now well...should of had more then one big goal.

So you wander through the new facility where the remnants were moved to by Umbra and who provided fresh genetic material. Such quality finally makes sense while it took them awhile and here you thought the high level specifications you made would not have panned out. You were wrong about that.

The infamous Umbra and yet despite your standing they still haven't bothered to send anyone besides affiliates. Bastards how DARE they not give you the respect you deserve? You beat Dr. Volk for fucks sake.

DO they seem to care?

Well of COURSE not how else could they treat you this way?

So you left.

Maybe not your greatest idea in the world but damn it shit just wasn't the same anymore. Your sorta lost so you went for a walk...sorta got more then a little lost though. Like really lost.

Just how you ended up going down a simple hallway to the heart of steamy fucked up jungle you have no fucking idea. Not to mention this jungle after much wanderings and seemingly appearing underground interrupting an odd card game going on between a strange number of fellows, edritch gods, abominations, and a dark being or three. Before ending up in the familiar jungle before a certain amusement peculiar amusement park.

when the hell did you get so bad with directions?

Clearing and draining out the entire wasteland jungle from the urban city to the north to the edge of the deep deep jungle in the south. Turning hostile monster/zombie nest infested jungle marsh into dry grasslands for mutant, human, and ghoul and zombie children to play.

Protected by living thorned vines the size of buildings, with an ecosystem of borg spiders with Queens the size of bememoths and everything down self multiplying.

You know, actually should we look into taking a hunting trip? Food has gone down to poor, it''s so bad our health is at average instead of good.

>Basic 1
Go out hunting. Keep an eye out for any species that could be domesticated for food or to be used in a 'war dog' type capacity while we're out there. You don't have to capture them (it'd be great if you did though), but remember what they look like at least.

It's weird that a lot of us miss that.

You know, if we get beasts of war then we won't need to develop new mutant strains...we would want to really make sure our psy-reinforced friendships are ingrained into their genes before we started beefing them up with combat mutations though.

w-wait a gosh darned cotton picking sassafrasen minuted here

>Just how you ended up going down a simple hallway to the heart of steamy fucked up jungle you have no fucking idea. Not to mention this jungle after much wanderings and seemingly appearing underground interrupting an odd card game going on between a strange number of fellows, edritch gods, abominations, and a dark being or three. Before ending up in the familiar jungle before a certain amusement peculiar amusement park.

Did Kaharr just end up in the MUEKE JUNGLES? In CARLSON WORLD?

I'll fourth/third that.

I believe he did. Genie really likes for people to visit the Mueke Jungles, I think most of the main characters have been there at one point or another.

It's a pretty cool place so long as you can avoid getting caught by the Sa'al, get dragged up a pyramid to have your heart cut out and your head rolled down the steps as your very soul essence is drained to feed the false living Energy Gods.

Some of the rides still work! (at least the Tunnel of Love does, though the Sa'al just use that as a great river of blood).

Hunting trip went reasonably well though we didn't find the potential species we were looking for we did however successfully acquire food.

>>32570989
Having a bit of a writers block anon.
