You are Mason Page, an 18 year old living in New York City. You inherited powers from your Great Grandfather, an infamous supercriminal, Jones Page, or as he was known for decades, The Ink. To honor the memory of your Great Grandfather, you have been training, harnessing your power, to become the next great supercriminal. Using ink as your medium, you have mastered using Pens as Darts, using both finesse and force to make it as lethal of a weapon as any, and more recently, have been learning to control Rats, forcing ink into their muscles and skin and blood.

The sun is shining through your bedroom window on this early Saturday morning, gleaming off of the black screen of the television across from your bed. Your phone remains silent beside you, the only sound coming from the kitchen beyond your door, the sounds of sizzling bacon and eggs, your father must be making the two of you a meal. Laying back into your bed, your mind is overcome with various thoughts, about you, and your future. There are quite a few things on your plate, which will need to be dealt with, or you want to deal with. Twirling a textbook in the air, you go over the issues once more.

>cont.
>>
Your father has made passing mentions of college plans to you, how he wants you to send in applications, try to get into a nice university. With only a couple months of school left, you should probably do that now, if you are going to do that at all.

You also need a new place to train. After weeks and months of heading into alleys deep in the city after classes, you feel as though it might make more sense to acquire somewhere inside, inconspicuous, and otherwise convenient to practice. That way, you could keep rats for weeks or months at a time, instead of just using the ones that you happen across. From there, you'd be able to make plans and projects, developing devices and tools to have at your disposal.

Which leads into another thought. You had met a man only a few days before, in a white coat, gasmask, and military boots, who stole some various electronics and other parts from a thrift store. The two of you talked, and you spoke of how he was going to bomb... somewhere. Using those spare parts, broken electronics, a coathanger, and a microwave. That night, you had seen on the news that a local Bestbuy had been bombed, with an unknown amount of expensive electronics vanishing from the scene. That was, most likely, him. Maybe, if you got in contact with this man, you could form a sort of... sparring team, if you will. Someone with which to practice and plot with. A valuable ally. Possibly a friend.

You come back to the problem of College. Though it might be handy to go, keep up appearances, learn a trade, maybe some sciences and studies in a field that could prove useful to your... cause. But to do that, it would cut back on training, stunting the rapid power growth you've experienced over the past months. It was at this point you decided you must tackle these issues. Which task will you prioritize?

Sitting up from your bed, you decide which task is of the highest priority. To train efficiently, to secure a place to hide stolen goods, and plan crimes, you need a base of operations. It won't be easy, but the sooner it gets done, the better. As you dress yourself, you think of some ways to secure such a place, a place of low to no scrutiny, if possible, hopefully one that can't get traced back to you. That puts a Storage unit out of the question.

Your next thought is that you could find an abandoned building, one that has been mostly forgotten about by the city. One with no other occupants, somewhere that you could get into quietly, without being noticed.

Or possibly, you could pick up an alias, rent or buy a small place in the cheaper parts of town, where there is high criminal activity. Somewhere that nobody would notice or care that you are rarely there. Something like an old meth den. Getting the money would be difficult, but it's possible.

Maybe, you think, you could get a van or other vehicle of some kind. You have a license. It would be mobile, you could bring it wherever you would need it to be, and you could dump it when you no longer needed it.

But which one to pursue?

Deciding a Van would be the most practical, you stop for a moment, considering how to get one. You need some money, which would be the bulk of it, and you can acquire in a variety of ways. Theft is the first option that pops into your head, but it seems a bit too high risk at this moment, so that idea goes to the wayside. You could get a job, save up for it, but that might take an awful long time. You'd need another approach. Possibly, you could steal the car. But using a stolen Van would make it risky to use. No other ideas come to you, so you consider the three, less than ideal, options.

> Find Gas Mask Guy first

Stealing the money is the best way to go, you feel certain. But you have only stolen so much, possibly 50 dollars worth of Pen and Ink, barely enough to make you a criminal. Stealing thousands of dollars is a little too much for you to handle. However, you know someone who has stolen quite a lot. The man in the Gas Mask. If you could find him, make a connection, you might be able to pull this off. Networking.

But finding him might be slightly difficult. You met him once, and followed him through some alleys. That might give you some clue as to where he is, but not enough. You could try and get into the Best Buy, which is currently being 'renovated' since the bombing. It's possible that he left something that could give you an idea on how to find him. Not likely, but possible. With those two options, you sit back down, pondering for a few more moments.

You decide that there is little chance you could find anything at the Bestbuy, and decide its best to search those Alleys, where they lead, and try to see if you can't get some idea as to where he is. You finally step out of your room, to see the kitchen table has various plates of foods. Bacon, Pancakes, Eggs, and a pitcher of Juice. Your father is just beyond the living room, washing various pans. "Oh, son, your up! I made us breakfast!" He says, smiling widely at you. "Thanks, I guess." You mumble in response. Turning off the sink, he steps over to the table.

"You can help yourself. I was hoping after breakfast, maybe we could hang out? Do some Father Son stuff. Maybe talk about possible Colleges." Cringing slightly, you sit down, filling your plate up with some food. "So, son, what do you say?"

Looking down at your plate, you think about how to handle this.

"Sure, dad. We can hang out today. What do you want to do?" You say, forcing a smile, cutting up some food. His face lights up, his grin as wide as possible, it seems he's almost fighting back tears. "Oh, wow, that's great! I have some ideas. We can go to the movies, there is this new Captain Genesis movie if you'd like. Maybe we could go to the park, play some catch? We haven't done that in years. What would you like to do, son?" None of those are particularly appealing to you, but neither is spending the day with your father, really. > Go to the Park

"Let's go to the Park." You say to him, finishing off your plate. "It would be nice to get some sun and exercise for a change." He smiles at you, and grabs the dishes off the table. "I'll take care of these. Go get ready, and then we'll head to the park! Afterwards, we can get some lunch, talk about college stuff." Groaning internally, you go to your room and shut the door. You grab your bag, still with some amount of pens and ink inside, as well as some various schoolwork. You brush your teeth and do the other various personal grooming before you are ready to head out.

Your father, dressed in khaki shorts and a bright red tee, holding a bag quite similar to yours, is standing by the door. "All right, son, let's get going!" Feeling you've made a mistake, you follow him out the door and down the steps of the complex. You walk for some time, no more than an hour, before you reach the grassy fields of the park. The sun is bright and warm, with a light breeze keeping the air at a very nice temperature, the shade from various trees housing small family picnics. There are quite a lot of children here on this early morning, running and playing and shouting. Leading you to an empty spot under an old oak tree, you set your things down, and start passing the ball with your father.

>cont.
>>
You spend a while tossing the ball back and forth, barely listening to your fathers chatter, only really hearing the occasional "Nice catch, son!" and "I wish your mother were here to see this!". The children off in the park move about, playing with their own fathers, and each other. Momentarily, some police sirens rush by, but go off into the far distance.

Not long after that, a loud boom is heard from the air as a figure moves about, before landing off in the streets. A large armored van screeches as it is pushed off onto its side, rolling into the park, and smashing into a tree by the entrance gates. Captain Genesis floats down to it, ripping into its hull, and pulling out five men in skin tight suits and ski masks. One pulls a gun on him, only to be disarmed.

"You don't see this in person every day," your father says, stepping towards the growing crowd.

Thinking to get a closer look, see what the opposition is really like, you throw your bag over your shoulder, and walk with your dad to the crowd. You see this large armored truck, military grade, smashed into the ground and a tree, wheels still spinning. Pushing past the children, you can see it up close. These five men, three of them with assault rifles, are on the ground, the side of the van ripped open. Captain Genesis reaches down to the men, grabbing two of them and holding them in the air. "This is what you get when you mess with Justice!" he shouts, bashing their heads together, forcing them into unconsciousness, a small amount of blood trickling down their faces, before throwing them into the dirt.

One of them, gun in hand, drops his rifle, whips out a pistol, and rushes into the crowd. He reaches around your fathers throat, and puts a pistol up to the side of his temple. "One more move Captain Jackass and this guy gets his brain splattered onto these kids!" He shouts, his voice shaking quite a lot. Your father, paralyzed by fear, does nothing more than look you directly in the eyes. Genesis stands frozen, the other two men scrambling to their feet. "Nick, Chris, get the money out of the Van." He says, gun still against your fathers head. The two men crawl back through the large ripped hull of the van, the entire crowd silent and frozen.

What do you do?

You've had enough of practicing on rats. With a burst of rage, you let out a yell, breaking the silence, ink ripping out from your bag, and gripping onto the robbers arm, shredding his sleeve, gun still in hand. As it burrows into his skin, he drops to his knees, letting out a scream, your father jumping away. The rest of the crowd flees, as Genesis stares, in a state of both awe and confusion. After only a mere second, the mans entire arm is a dark black, writhing as you command. Training the gun on his allies, you force his finger down. Bang. Bang.

The bullets peel through the air, smashing into the arm of one, and the chest of the other, both dropping to the ground in pain, and finally, you pull the gun to his temple. His screams don't let down for even an instant. At this moment, you realize what exactly you have done. Your father, in a state of pure fear, only a few feet away, and Captain Genesis standing over the two men you had gotten shot. The entire crowd dispersed, and it seems as though police cars are on their way, sirens getting ever closer.

You look at the man, directly in the eyes. His screams do not detract from the pleading look in his eyes, water bubbling through the mask. His screams silence for just a moment, as he speaks. "Please don't, just, don't, please." With the Sirens getting louder, you make a quick decision. "Nobody hurts my family." His eyes widen in the splits second before death, as he thunks to the ground, a lifeless husk, blood sprayed across the grass and dew. Looking up to your father, you can see only horror in his eyes, completely still. Without a word, you retract the ink from the dead mans hand, and run off, the police cars coming even closer.

Nobody seems to follow you, not even Captain Genesis. You run for what seems like hours, until you finally come to a place you feel comfortable. Deep in the alleys, where you first met the man in a Gas Mask, you lean against the cold cement walls, taking a deep breath. You don't feel sad or guilty, or even worried. Your mind only contemplates on your next move. Where do you go now? Sitting down, you spend some time to think about things.

You had just killed a man, or rather, forced him to kill himself. You have only twenty dollars on you, some pens and ink, and some physics homework. What are you to do now?

Wow, is this MC stupid. Well, and /tg/ of course. Way to blow our cover even before starting our career as a supervillain, and in such a spectacularly stupid way as well.

In any case: Given that all previous plans are in ruin, now that there are more than a dozen eye-witnesses including Captain Genesis, we need to go fast.

>>32484323
How far away are we from home? If it only takes a few minutes, go there and pack. We need money most, and our father will forgive us if we take what we find. We also need food and perhaps two changes of clothes. Enough to keep us alive for a couple days.

>>32484379
Then we seek out that guy.

Some general ideas I have had:
>Ink sense
Can we feel Ink? I'd guess so, given that we have some fine control even if we cannot see it. I'd be curious to know if we can also sense ink we are not currently manipulating. That could be a pretty useful power for various reasons. One of them would be marking something in a way that is invisible to the eye.
>What can we even manipulate?
We know we can manipulate wet ink, dried ink (printed letters) and ink mixed with other things (eg. rat-blood). We cannot manipulate all other colored liquids, otherwise we could have directly manipulated the blood. I assume we would know if we could manipulate paint. Therefore, I assume that it's some component of industrial ink that we are actually manipulating.
>Applications of ink
Given that we can quickly stain and clean things, we could stain our clothes and our skin with ink before committing any heists. Afterwards we can just remove the stain and walk away clean.
Another idea is to practice making mist. Kind of like a squid, we could create a black mist to hide or run away. Depending on how well we can sense ink, and therefore shapes within the ink, we could still move about and 'see'.
I think that's enough for now.
>>

You spend a small amount of time on each floor, investigating each door and each hall, for clues as to the whereabouts of your soon to be ally. Finding nothing remarkable on most of them, you feel as though you won't find anything. But finally, you come to a door. > Knock

You gently knock on the door, with an eerie silence that follows. As you prepare to knock again, you hear a voice on the other side.

"Who is it? What do you want?" The voice says, sounding frustrated.

"Hey, it's me." You respond. The silence continues for a few more moments, until you hear latches on the door sliding off, and it creaks open. The man is wearing a ratty coat, worn and torn, with heavy rubber gloves. His looks to be in his thirties, with short black hair, insomnia rings of a deep purple. Behind him you see the place is filled with televisions and various video game consoles, not hidden properly at all.

"You? How did you find me?" He nearly shouts, sliding the door closer to shut.

"It was mostly luck, I think." You put your foot in the door, preventing it from closing.

"What do you want?" He grumbles, pulling a Gas Mask over his face.

I need a mask and a new face, somewhere to stay. In return I can give you all of the help I can and the benefit of my power. I wouldn't be asking if I didn't mean it. Honour amongst thieves and all that, right?"

I really wonder whatever happened to my suggestion in the first thread:

To hide the truth of our power at any cost and use it to emulate other abilities.

Oh well though. We can still do that. Heck, we disappear, lay low for a while and never make a rampant display of our Ink puppet ability -ever- again.

We. Never. SHOW. It. Again.

"I was thinking we could help each other out." You say, grinning at his now masked face. He remains still, but finally opens the door all the way, and gestures for you to come in. His house is messy, to say the least. Everything is cluttered, with various bits of wires and household devices strewn about the house, half taken apart half mixed together. In this first room, it is filled more than ninety percent with boxes of LCD and Plasma televisions, varying in sizes. Some have been cracked, others have been taken apart, and most are still in boxes. You can also see at least 40 different PS4s, still in box.

He leads you into another room, with tiled floors and various desks, which is mostly organized. On some of the desks, there are sketches and designs for various things, one labeled very clearly as "Death Ray", and each one with boxes of parts. He points to a chair, and you sit, him sitting across from you.

"So," he says, his voice echoing from the mask, "How can I help you?"

You sigh. "I need a mask, a new face, and someplace to stay. I can't be recognized, I can't be seen. I did something, and it will be on the news, and now people will know what I am."

"And what are you?" He questions.

"I have powers, and I used them."

"I understand. What do I get in return for helping you?" He twiddles his fingers, a grin is underneath that mask, you're sure.

"I can help you. I have powers, and I am good at using it."

"I see." He stands from his chair, and exits the room. For a few moments, you sit quietly, and he returns, tossing you a sleeping bag. His mask is off, as are the gloves and boots.

"You can stay with me, but you must do what I say when I say. We will discuss that more in the morning."

"Alright," you respond, happy you have a place to stay. And possibly a friend.

"You may call me Doctor Apocalypse. How should I address you?"

You don't mind, but it's a little unsettling. Your training with Doctor Apocalypse will start tomorrow. Until then, you can sleep. In my case, the alter ego is what's going to keep us and our father unaffiliated with future crimes.

Now in that second case, we could make it.

The ink shield seems kind of stupid to me as well, given how thanks to the low cohesiveness of ink our control of that tiny bit of ink hit by a bullet would need to be strong enough to withstand the whole force. Carrying a shield made of something solid seems far more reasonable.

But who am I to bring logic to a quest...

>>32486709

Exactly.
>>
>>32486709
Well I feel like the idea of an ink shield wouldn't be to stop the bullets dead, and more to deflect them so that they don't hit us
>>
>Ink Shield

You consider some thoughts you've had before, on how to utilize your power to it's fullest potential. Tattoos and Inked Clothes for Flight, Strength, and Defense, enhancing your abilities to Detect and feel through Ink, and then using your power to use Ink as a shield. If it can pierce a wall, it should hold to that it could stop something just as strong. Maybe. You pool up the Ink, and raise it up into a sheet before you. Concentrating your power, you try to hold it together tight, not letting it shift in the slightest. Starting light, you decide to try and push through. Putting your palm against the ink, it feels solid. With some light pressure, it still stays put. Well, you think to yourself, let's see if it can stand a hit. You pull back your fist.

How is that not logic? If we use ink to carry something solid the strain of a bullet will be spread to all the ink. Therefore the strength of all the ink we use together will be put against the bullet. Please explain how that is not logical.

>>32486802
That would not change the principle at all. We would need be ludicrously strong to have it work against piercing weapons.
>>

>>
>>32486887

>>
Rolled 44

>>32486937
Why? The point I was trying to make was that the shield could just divert the object into a path that wouldn't connect with us.
>>
>Rolled 90

With all of your might, which you note is not much, you swing yourself into the newly created shield, making contact. Your power is mightier than your blow, and your fist crumples, feeling like you had just punched a solid wall. With the sting of pain, a slight trickle of blood drips from your knuckle, the shield falling apart from the lack of focus, splashing against the tiles floors. It takes a moment to shake off the pain, and you raise of the shield again, and continue to practice for hours. Finally, you feel two exhausted to continue, return your arsenal of ink back to the bag, and roll up for some sleep. Tomorrow will be a long day.

---

Hey guys, I'm going to be ending here. Thank you all for playing, and as always, I'll stick around for a bit to answer questions.
>>
>>32486937
Why would we need to spread out the force to all the ink? A bullet sized amount of ink should be enough to block a bullet, we aren't a weak telekinetic.
>>
>>32487034
Aye, for that the pressure it needs to sustain would still be enormous. Bullets are kinda fast. I assume it would be easier to hold a piece of metal in the way.

>>32487062
We would need to be strong enough to rip through metal though. I'm not sure we are that strong, though we will be sooner or later.
>>
>>32487145
We put a pen through 2 feet of concrete. We're that strong.
>>
>>32487145
Aye, when concentrating our power on a small amount of ink and speeding it up along along more than one metre, and using a casing so the ink doesn't simply splash against the wall, then we are strong enough to put it into a wall. The wall was only penetrated after weeks of abuse though, as I recall.

For the shield each individual centimeter would need to be strong enough to withstand that force. It's the difference between swinging a big hammer so that you can dent metal and holding your hand against the metal and instantly apply enough pressure to rend it.
>>
>>32487430

>>
>>32487430
>>32487488
Once again, that's why we're practicing it now. We know we have the strength, we just need to get the skill.

Welp, /tg/ has managed to turn a decent character into an edgy retard.
>>
>>32495161
He was going to be a edgy retard from the start, be glad he isn't gay on top of that
>>
>>32494741
That's one reason some here want to have a different public persona.

>>32487530
Once again: I don't doubt it is eventually possible, but right now it will only work against blunt attacks (if at all) and it would be easier if we had a sort of shield.

Also we *have* the skill to form and hold a shield. We lack the strength to keep each square-inch of it robust enough to withstand metal that is slung fast enough to deform itself. I'd like to train our strength with other stuff and then come back to the shield once we are powerful enough to make it more useful.

>>32495161
I don't see the edgy.
