It is the year 22XX and Humanity has reached the stars. Alas, even though they have attained the lofty goal of interstellar travel, mankind has yet to conquer it’s baser instincts.

Humanity is ruled by ultra-Corporations. Some own continents. Some own multiple worlds. But no matter who you are, everyone is a citizen-employee somewhere. The qualms that beset corporations of the past, copyright infringement, tech theft, still exist. If anything, they are amplified by the scale of the players.

Without government to turn to for legal recourse and separated by millions and billions of miles, corporations have turned to less savory solutions to resolve disputes. You are one of those solutions.

You are an elite mercenary, also known as a High Impact Public Representative, of the StrikeOut Company, a group of mercenaries who accept contracts and missions from the highest bidder. You are launched out of a spaceship in a drop pod filled with bright orange and highly toxic gel. You crash land into the target’s facilities, make a mess, do your job, and then get the hell out.

You are a Fall Guy. You are a Deniable Asset.

Everyone nods in silent assent before filing off of the HOEV and onto the hangar. You look back to see one Martha Sirra. She locks eyes with you and nods minutely in approval. You give her a brief thumbs up before leaving to go into the Cryobay. Clambering into your berth, you wonder how Singh will look once the experts at BiodYne, be they in house or more likely contract workers, get through with him.

You mostly keep to yourself on the walk over to cryo, and climb into your berth without comment. Although you aren’t bothered by what you did to Singh - quite the opposite in fact - thinking about the events of Bitter Prophet always puts you into something of a funk. The berth door slides shut with a hiss of various gasses and your world goes dark.

The sun is bright in the sky, and a cool breeze blows across your face. This would not be so odd if not for the fact that your last memory was of a cryoberth closing. You look around without moving your head.

And that was definitely odd. Your field of view has doubled from the usual 10 degrees. You can see everything around you, although most parts are blurry depending on where you are focused. You look around with this new and alien visual format, trying to adjust your perception. Eventually you are able to assemble a pretty good mental image of the area around you. You are on the ground, apparently alone, in a completely empty square-no hexagon-in a Pear Alium City, given away by the distinct spiralling buildings. You stand up in shock at this unusual arrangement. Well, attempt to stand up anyway. The strangely placed joints of your legs are entire unfamiliar to you, and after successfully rising to your feet, you collapse onto the ground, resting like one of those bowling pin shaped clown things that alternatively frightened and puzzled you in your infancy. After a few minutes of helpless wobbling, you almost feel, more than hear, someone approaching you. It’s the first noise you’ve heard since “waking up”.

More like something, you realize as you focus on the quadrant of your vision that the strange thing is approaching from. A few minutes later and you realize that the figure is the long absent alien and professional pear look alike, Fruity. You wave one of your multitudinous arms in greeting to the familiar… stalk thing that you suppose qualifies as a face. Fruity waddles over to you, his round torso making transforming any movement into an impressive display of jiggling.

Extending two manipulators, he attempts to hold your own and lift you to your feet. Unfortunately, your motor skills aren’t nearly what they could be, and your “hands” lie slack in his own, slipping free of his grasp. Fruity makes a trilling noise you immediately recognize as exasperation and clutches you by your “wrists” instead, hoisting you to your feet. After several seconds of wobbling you manage to adapt your brain enough to this confusing new control scheme to remain upright.

Despite the fact that you are now rocking a Pear Alium chassis your voice is the same as it always is. “Fruity, what’s going on?”

{Assume informative experience IvanFriend: adopt [people] mine form.}

“Yeah well, it’s really disconcerting. Kinda reminds me of this one time I tried Mega-Acid.”

{Hallucinogenics harmful IvanFriend,} announces Fruity in it’s usual trill, somehow managing to show concern despite the utterly alien noise. You suppose the emphatic “hand” gestures help.

“You and my mother.”

{IvanFriend broodsire correct in assessment!}

“Ugh,” you groan, wriggling two of your arms about in irritation. “Let’s change the topic here Fruity.”

“Ya know, Fruity,” you say, taking an unsure step forward, “people normally invite their friends over and let them come of their own accord. Dragging them off and sticking them in some alien body while they’re asleep is something of a faux pas.”

Fruity makes some sort of wiggling motion that you suppose qualifies as shock. {This occurrence common among IvanFriend SpeciesKin?}

“Uh, no,” you respond, “I’m pretty sure this is the first time it has ever happened to a human. But I imagine that if one were to categorize this sort of thing in an etiquette book, it’d be considered a bit improprietous. Hijacking your friend’s brain I mean.”

{Comprehension. However, I considered option superior interaction, promote understanding.}

“Understanding of what?”

{Understanding [People of the Home Planet] perceptions, psychology.}

“So your world view?”

{Affirmations. You resist understanding. Relax mental state.}

You frown to yourself, this is exactly the sort of thing the apparently benevolent alien would say right before it busts out the brain control and asshole probes. You consider Fruity skeptically. Fruity seems to recognize your disbelief.

{IvanFriend, [Mental/Physical Projection] subconsciously displaying incredulity posture. Only blockage your conscious mind from understanding.}

Fruity was wearing some sort of idol uniform and dragged us away from pillow fight heaven before telling us that humanity's tech was getting close to curing death, but that once that happened, the whole thing would open up a brand new problem, possibly involving the extinction of humanity. Then he apologized for cockblocking us and we hugged him in a display of interstellar solidarity before going back to pillow fight heaven and enjoying some time with Elda, Val, Svenja, and Miyuki in a hottub.

Fruity is a Bro.

>Relax your mind and get the full Pear-orrific experience
>>
You decide that you may as well trust Fruity on this one. After all, the guy did facilitate some pretty sweet dream orgy last time you hung out. You take a few mental breaths and relax your conscious mind, releasing a variety of bodily functions such as standing and breathing from the vice-like grip of your conscious mind. After you do so, you attempt to think quiet, placid thoughts, trying to blank your mind.

After a few minutes of this, you start to feel annoyed. This is pointless, all this standing about. Inactivity is the mindkiller, the little nap before eternal rest. All four of your eyes jerk open at once and you look around with a new cognitive paradigm. You’re not nervous, no this is not nervous energy. But it is imperative. What is imperative? You know not, but this is imperative. You focus your full attention to Fruity and wobble up to it, your body practically trembling with barely suppressed energy.

“Quickly. Understanding attained. Purpose exercise?”

{True Understanding attained,} confirms Fruity, sounding surprised at how quickly you took up the immediate thought patterns of the [People of the Home Planet]. {You familiar our thought paradigm?}

“Affirmative,” you respond, the thrum of industry thrumming through your entire being. “Understanding attained.”

{Follow,} says Fruity as it leads you on, away from the deserted hexagon of green space, towards one of the roads. You follow eagerly, the promise of purpose thrilling to you. After a few minutes of walking you eventually turn the corner of the hexagonal spiral of an office building. You look out into the street, utterly shocked.
>>
Dozens, many dozens of [People of the Home Planet] are present. They are not immobile. They are not lying on the ground. They are not dead. That would be less disturbing. No, they move ponderously. Slowly. Without purpose, lethargically as if diseased.

To your mind, they are diseased. Horrifyingly so. Such laxity, such indolence. As though they no longer feelhear thrums of industry. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

“Query,” you ask, alarm evident in the speed of your voice, the pitch, “Perversion extreme. Why deviated so?”

Fruity stares at you for a few seconds. {Easier, superior retention, adopt your SpeciesKin Paradigm.}

You stare at Fruity in shock as it begins to transform, body lengthening, thinning at the waist, two of the arms retracting. Mouth migrating downwards as the sensory stalk grows thinner in the middle, and bloats at the top.

After a few seconds and human being i standing before you. And individual of indescribable age and gender. It takes you a few moments to notice that the energetic background radiation of the [People of the Home Planet]’s mind has dissipated. You look down at your hands and are pleasantly surprised to find them returned to their normal pink state.

{I have an urgent message for you,} declares Fruity, it’s voice ponderous compared to earlier. The relaying of this message will most likely cut our interaction short today. But so long as we are here, there are things I wish to clarify to you. I feel as though some of our earlier interactions were colored by crude mental interfacing.}

Their society degenerated to the point that people don't have any kind of purpose.
They can probably extend their lives indefinitely through nanomachines and virtual reality.

>Any theories on why Ivan is being contacted?
Now we are talking about wild mass guessing.

For all we know, Ivan is an artificial human with fabricated memories created to learn about humanity.
>>
>>32464458
Something happened to the aliens. And my best guess is that it isn't natural.
Some sort of genetic modification that went wrong, or a biological weapon perhaps.

Fruity fears, for some reason or another, that humanity is on the same course.
To this end, Ivan was contacted.

And in all probability Ivan was not the only one contacted. There could be others, but we don't know.

“What happened down there,” you ask, gesturing at the lethargic aliums stumbling around. “Did whatever happen to your kind, is this the final result?”

{Yes.}

“So, this is what, a projection of your home planet or something? This is the situation on the ground?”

{In some ways yes,} replies humanized Fruity, it’s face falling into a look of depression. Unhappy but accepting. {in some no. This is not really my world. My world as it was in this form is buried in time. Our legacy is one of corpses and skeletons. This is not what remains.}

“Then what is all of this?”

{Their… projections. what is left of their minds and wills. They are few and far between now.}

“What happened to them then?”

{They were subsumed. They were without… function, let us say. In a utopian society where industry is no longer required, where anything might be attained with a thought, they were without purpose. Many surrendered self to escape torpor. To find function.}

“Okay,” you reply, your face displaying the confusion you feel right now. “Maybe this form switch thing isn’t quite perfect. Let’s get more concrete. How did this happen to your people?”

Fruity’s androgynous form gives you a mildly startled look {I showed it to you. I showed it to you before granting you access to the mating fantasy.}

“Wait, you mean the operation? On the old pear guy?”

{Yes, that one,} replies Fruity, nodding, the lines of it’s form growing… harder… as it becomes more serious. {Yes, that was the first they ascended. It would not be the last.}
>>
“And is this why?” you ask, “Is this why you contacted me? I’m just a merc, surely there was someone better positioned for this?”

Fruity sighs, sagging as if a great load appeared upon its shoulders. {We can only contact a spare few. Two now. I was afraid that there would not be another. But you came along. And I could reach you.}

“Wait, who was this first person?”

{I know not, only of this person’s existence. The Whole to Which Many Submit reached this person’s mind first. Set this person upon the same path as we walked.}

“So what, some… conglomeration of your species is manipulating human beings?”

{Yes. But it is not so simple as that. Many half lifes ago, we would not be arrayed so against your species. But few minds could retain identity without function. And those that could not submitted to those whose function remained untarnished.}

“So are you yourself a conglomeration?”

{Yes, but I am lesser by orders of magnitude compared to The Whole to Which Many Sumbit. The genesis mind which forms the core of the identity was a great zealot. It’s will, it’s function, exceeded that of mine own. Many more cleaved unto it than unto me.}

You feel, more than hear the noise. A sort of humming… A thrumming… beating through your soul. You look around, and finally up, into the darkening sky. Cracks appear in the firmament, heat and humidity like a thousand bodies all bound together pour through in a pulsing rhythm.

{Time is limited!} announces Fruity, its voice trembling in alarm. {The Whole to Which Many Submit seeks a new agent in the physical. Be wary, IvanFriend! There approaches individuals… not agents of The Whole to Which Many Submit… but hostile regardless. Do not die.}

“Eh? Wait what,” you ask, more alarmed at the sudden shift in tone than anything else, “But wait I have more questions.”

{No time, in this plane of cognizance or your own. Events are converging. Good luck IvanFriend.}
>>
Your eyes explode open as the cryoberth unlocks. You do not feel the usual nausea upon leaving stasis. But you take advantage of the customary time you take to not upchuck to organize your thoughts on what happened. After a few minutes of steadying breaths you pull yourself out of the cryberth. The Pear people advance technology continuously until they could have practically anything with no effort. One of, possibly their last, major upgrade melded minds together. “Hey, anyone else feeling some fruit salad,” you mumble, more to stave off your own personal feelings of awkwardness than anything else. Luckily Maxim and Martian are too busy conversing to notice your weak jest. After a few more seconds of waiting for a response that will probably never come, you begin to prepare your own duffle bag, opening it up to look at your collection of toys inside. The shotgun lies inside, not anywhere close to sparkling new, but it still fills you with the same thrill of excitement looking at it. Just then, unbidden, the words of Fruity come rising back into your forebrain. “There approaches individuals…”

Marlena does hear this one. “Huh? What did you say Ivan? My ears are ringing like a martian habdome in the middle of sand season. I think my helmet’s noise management system might be damaged.”

“Oh, nothing,” you reply, somewhat embarrassed to be caught talking to yourself. “nothing at all. You sure it ain’t schizophrenia?”

Marlena shrugs. “Eh. Maybe.”

Before she can say anything more however, a voice speaks over the cryobay PA system. “Attention, Strike Force Butcher-Whisky. This is SO tactical command. We have a security breach. Please rearm yourselves and prepare for combat. I repeat Strike Force-”

You are already yanking on your armor before tactical command can say security. Marlena and Maxim follow suit shortly, both of them shouting for once. “A security breach,” screams Marlena, “What the fuck are we going to do against people who can subvert StrikeOut’s security system?”

“I am not knowing of this,” snarls Maxim back, his normally placid rumble a feral growl. “But we are needed.”
>>
You pull on your helmet over your head placidly. It’s hard to be scared by a surprise attack that you knew was coming. Although It wouldn’t kill Fruity to be a bit more clear next time. You suppose it’ll have to get more used to adopting a human paradigm before your next meeting. With the helmet back on, you can access the StrikeOut tactical datanet. You open up a channel to tactical. “What’s the situation?”

The Handler appears in your visor, for once flustered rather than aloof and dismissive. “A shuttle, we thought it was full of civilians. They had proper credentials to dock! They’re confined behind one airlock, but not for long, they’re almost through.”

“They circumvented point defense entirely then?”

“Yes!” cries the Handler, clearly a little out of her depth at the moment, “yes they had valid credentials and everything from NeoLogos itself! No one on the station is as close to them as you are, or as prepared to respond. We need you four-”

“Three,” you correct with a perverse smile. “Clayton has returned to the Outback or whatever.”

“Shit! Well then you three, we need you to keep them from running amok until the rest of the garrison gets its collective ass in gear.”

“Alright then. Where are they, and how many?”

The Handler Bites her lip. “Terminal 5. They’ve just broken into the main area. We can’t vent, they’ve got space survival gear.”

You turn around to see a fully armed and armored MAxim and Martian turned and facing you, seeking leadership cues

As baller as a spacewalk would have been-and mostly likely tons of fun to both write and play if real life were somehow an interactive text based game between one Game Master, if you will, and his players conducted on an imageboard-you think it would be more prudent to stick to the interior of the station, where you can enjoy a better understanding of the lay out, as well as more cover. You nod towards Marlena and Maxim, ordering the to fall in behind you as you run for the door leading to Terminal 5.

For once the airlock doesn’t take five minutes scanning you for viruses or whatever. The three of you run forward, armored boots clattering against the terminal floor. As you run, you contact tactical once more. “How many, and how armed?”

The Handler takes a few moments to double check the data she’s getting. “Alright, according to station cams, there are-were- 30 of these hostiles on the shuttle when it docked. Of that group 20 are in Terminal 5. I’m unsure wh- oh god.”

“What. What is it?”

“One of the security staff just sent me the feed from your cruiser. There are 10 hostiles space walking towards god knows where, they just went out of view.”

“Shit,” you mutter. “We’ll hold the 20 of them off at the bottleneck. Once they’re out of the way we can deal with the space walkers. They’re armed with normal fire arms, but I think they also have a great deal of breaching equipment”

The Handler nods and you close the link. It's time to focus. The three of you run around until you are standing behind the door leading to Terminal 5. Even as you stand there behind the armored door, you can hear the faint whine as the hostiles prep some sort of device to cut through the metal and ceramic.

No time to set up booby traps, it seems these guys want to force your hand.

You press yourself against the door and comm into tactical. “Who can we expect as back up?”

The Handler responds immediately. “Not much, they struck when the base was abnormally empty. Simge Atlar, Jason Smith, Ifu Mokwena, and Tin Man are all aboard the station right now. The rest are out on assignment or are visiting Atlas.”

“Well shit,” you snarl, as you prepare to open the door, “Unless someone's got an oil can on hand I don’t think we can expect Tin Man any time soon. Looks like we’ll have to do this the old fashioned way.”

You indicate to Marlena to prep her grenade launcher to fire, and you crack the door open slightly. You toss your last frag grenade through the opening, and Marlena fires two of her own grenades through the gap. “Tactical,” you say, speaking calmly, “do you have any eyes in Terminal 5? What’s the situation in there?”

There is a pause as the Handler checks out relevant screens. “Here, I’m feeding you a security feed now.”

Terminal 5 is a right mess. It seems that while neither your nor Marlena’s grenades were as effective as you might’ve hoped (really, those Terminals are a lot bigger than you initially anticipated) they seem to have disrupted enemy operations well enough. The breaching device, some sort of thermal lance by the looks of it, has been right fucked by one of the explosions, the same for it’s two operators. Unfortunately, however, there are twenty bastards in there, and only about 3 more of them were visibly injured or killed by the grenades. The rest have taken a few respectful steps back from the door, and are running back to take up overwatch positions in case you try and open it back up again.

“Well shit,” you sigh, “I don’t think we’ll be able to pull the grenade hat trick again.”

“Vent?” asks Maxi suddenly. You turn to face him. “Excuse me?”

“Vent the Terminal,” Maxim states dully. “Empty atmosphere out into space.”

“Are you guys equipped for vacuum combat?”

Both Marlena and Maxim nod once. “Alright then. We can try it.”

You open up a channel with tactical and quickly relay your request. After a few seconds the shuttle is detached from the station hangar, and the airlocks are wide open. You watch in detached fascination as five more hostiles fail to secure themselves in time, and are sucked out into deep space. The rest are able to activate magnetic clamps in time and remain stuck to the floor of the Terminal, desperately trying to reorganize themselves and get back into cover.

The door at the other end of the hallway closes behind you. You nod at Marlena and Maxim as all three of you activate magnetic clamps built into your boots. The door to the terminal begins to open.

>>
You take point on the group, raising your shield up to absorb any incoming fire. The door fully opens and you stare into the room, everything oddly silent. Except for your breaths. You raise your OMP into the air and open fire. You can feel the gun tremble in your hand as it belches forth bullets, but you hear nothing. You can see the muzzle flash, but still you hear nothing. The only reason you know Maxim is firing, aside from him telling you he would be in the first place, is the explosion of bodies as bullets tear into them, blood and viscera falling to the ground far faster than you are used to.

You turn slightly and send a few bullets down range towards a retreating hostile. His legs explode, blood falling out of them more than pouring, and he skids across the ground. You feel some small bursts of force against your arm as enemy opposition sends bullets flying into your shield. The bulwark holds resolute against their assault however, and bullets are deflected all over the terminal, shattering screens and tearing apart cushions built into chairs. You see something whizz past your head in your peripheral vision. A few seconds later that something explodes, travelling faster and falling further than one might normally expect, killing a few hostiles that took up position behind a desk of some sort.

You look around the room quickly, trying to take in as much as you can. Of the original twenty, only ten remain, they have fallen back to more defensible positions further away from you three, hiding behind pillars and desks. They continue to send bullets up towards you, some of them plinking off of your shield.

You reaffirm your grasp on your shield and begin to march forward while Maxim attempts to suppress the largest group of hostiles with covering fire. The plan only works somewhat well, as you are nicked by some incoming fire from the side. Gritting your teeth in pain you ignore the flesh wound semi-successfully and continue moving forward towards one of the pockets of enemy resistance. Your presence has the desired effect, and draws fire from all corners, allowing Marlena to begin moving to flank. Unfortunately, your presence has the desired effect and draws fire from all corners, which can hurt like a bitch when your shield isn’t catching all of it. You nearly double over in pain as sequential rounds strike your torso. You’re certain that if you did not have an augmented skeleton there’d be a broken rib or two.

Luckily however, Maxim is drawing fire of his own, although his thick body armor obviates much of the need for a shield. However, despite the cocoon of ceramic and kevlar and non-newtonian fluids encasing him, he still grunts in pain as yet more bullets fly into him. A particularly loud grunt draws your attention, and you turn to see Maxim down on one knee, bleeding profusely from a wound on the back of his leg.
>>
“Shit,” you mutter as you speed up your approach to deal with the largest hostiles. Blitzing forward, you endure shot after shot, shield arm barely withstanding the concussive force. Just as you leap over the barrier to the largest group of hostiles, you see a flash of explosion as Marlena puts and end to the shenanigans of two hostiles. Leaping over the barrier, you bring your tomahawk down onto the head of one of the hostiles, his helmet only providing a brief moment of resistance before it shatters under the force of the seismic discharge. Blood and brains splatter onto the floor long before they can reach you. The remaining two hostiles run out into the open, where an injured Maxim puts them down with a burst of fire.

Stumbling forward, you take a quick head count, only five hostile dead of the original ten. “Shit, where’d the rest go?” You ask, looking around. Marlena walks up to you, and gestures towards a hole behind one of the pillars. It leads down into a maintenance tunnel and off god knows where into the Brick.

“Tactical,” you say, stepping away from the hole. “We’ve got a hole in the ground,five hostiles are in the maintenance tunnels.”

The Handler appears in your visor, looking frazzled. “That’s… That’s a thing Strike Force whatever you are. The ten spacewalkers just touched down. They’ve breached into an area near the HR offices. Tin Man is on his way to your area, but I can redirect him there instead.”

>>32481012
Wait, there's only three guys. just have Marlena throw flashbangs and we charge into melee with the stunned opponents. Throwing the tomahawk at whoever is closest to Svenja would be a nice touch before we close in for T-hawk's performance.

You are Svenja Weiss! And today was going to be a pretty bland and normal day by all indications. But, it was also a Friday so at least you had some delicious deep fried confections awaiting you today! At least, that’s how it appeared to be going before the announcement. A security breach. An actual security breach, hostiles in the Brick. To be completely honest the sound of the warning klaxon going off made you dorp not only your coffee, but also that delicious boston cream donut you were about to consume. You were too busy being put out at the loss of your donut to realize what exactly the warning klaxon was warning you of. Naturally, once you realized what was going on you entered into something of a panicked state, and ended up taking cover underneath the table in the main HR common space. It goes without saying that at some point in the process you managed to bang your head.

And now you are curled up underneath the table, knees tucked underneath your chin as you sit, waiting to hear more news… anything really. You rather hope that these hostiles, whoever or whatever they are, didn’t end up in one of the residential areas. You’d hate to think what would happen to poor little Bärchen if those brutes got to her. You eye the boston cream donut on the floor appraisingly. It’s not like it landed frosting side down after all… Your stomach speaks out in support of this course of action. Just as you’re about to start crawling over to see how clean you can get the donut, you hear a sound. the sound of a door whooshing open.
>>
>>32481276
Uh, holy fuck I did that.
>>
>>32481293
Damnit, meant it for >>32481276
>>
>>32481276
And here I was about to inb4 gritmode! WElp GG all the hostiles WILL be dead.
>>
You suppress your instinctive urge to meep loudly and press a hand over your mouth, looking at three armored sets of legs in fear and horror. The hostiles are in HR! They’re here they’re here they’re here! You start to tremble, a powerful feeling of terror suffuses your very being. You just wanted donuts… not getting shot to death by a bunch of gun toting maniacs. You bite your lip and bury your head into your knees. You might not be a rabbit, you might not think the danger is gone now that you can’t see it, but it does help make things seem less immediate.

Their footsteps sound like gong tolls or something like that, metallic, deep and loud. You tremble and bury yourself further into your lap. You don’t want them to find you. Don’t find you, please don’t find you just walk away and leave and leave you alone don’t pull you out and-

You hear a sound, like a rope or something on a pulley going slack. The men hear it to, their feet point in the direction of the elevator. Then suddenly a banging sound. And another banging sound. A third. The men are completely focused on the banging coming from the elevator shaft. You are too, and you crawl forward a little to get a better view.
>>
Somebody is punching through the elevator doors. You can see points where the metal has buckled from powerful blows. Another indentation, and a small gap appears in between the two doors. Finger slide in between them and with a terrible grunting roar, they push. The elevator doors resist for only a few seconds before they are ripped off of their tracks and slam into the wall. A towering merc stands in an empty elevator shaft, nothing behind him. The men raise their guns and are almost ready to open fire, when the merc blitzes forward. There is a moments silence, before it is shattered by a basso thudding sound as some strange device does something…

One of the men collapses to the floor. His head is no longer there. You scream and cover your ears, eye squeezed shut. Despite your hands covering your ears you can hear the bangs as guns go off. There is an extremely loud bang and you hear another body strike the ground. You cry out. Another few seconds of comparatively silent struggle before you hear a third body hit the ground.

You remain frozen, hands over ears, eyes squeezed shut. That’s when you feel something grab you by the upper arm and pull you out from underneath the desk.

You stare up at the strange armored merc in shock and terror. If you were in a more detached position from the action right now you’d take heart from the fact that he hasn’t turned his own formidable arsenal against you. You stare up at him, eyes filled with fear. The merc armored helmet stares down at you impassively for a few moments before turning its attention to something on the ground. After a few seconds your eyes follow that helmet’s attention to whatever it is on the ground. You stare at the helmet as it turns its attention back to you.

There is a pause, then the helmet pops off of the merc’s head with a hydraulic hiss. You stare up at someone you didn’t expect to see right about now. Ivan smirks down at you, apparently quite satisfied with how events have turned out.

“Svenja, you gotta lay off the donuts. I… shit I had something for th-”

You grab Ivan from behind the head and cut him off, pulling your mouth up onto his. After a few seconds you break away from him. Ivan’s ears are adorably pink.

“Go get ‘em, Tiger,” You murmur, which is met with a ferocious kiss from your savior.

“I’ll be back,” promises Ivan in a fake german accent. You decide not to question it. Probably one of those movies of his…

You are Ivan Kostov once more, and you’ll be offing the enemy mercenaries Next Time on Deniable Assets Quest
