You are Carmen and you are on the wrong side of town, specifically in the Red Corps side of town, in the lakewood area of your hometown of Tacoma Washington. How did you end up here? Well you tried to seduce and feed on a cute teen girl that looked to be around your age of 18 but all you did was end up saving her from a mugging and then when she was too scared you decided to accompany her home. The worst part was that you didn't even get her name or number. The other part was that Beatrice sent you to do some errand, but you forgot about it when you saw the "easy prey".

Despite your appearance of being 5'5", lithe and pale, you're not really worried about the average human accosting you. You're mostly worried about any Red Corp vampires thinking you're spying on their turf. You thought about calling Beatrice, your mentor to pick you up but you don't feel like getting chewed out in case she's in the middle of something which in her case is all the time. Despite that you're kind of concerned because she's usually blowing up your phone about finishing those errands whenever she sends you to do something.

In any case, you fish out the list that she told you to get;

1. 2 Jars of smooth peanutbutter
2. Cold medicine
3. Dog treats

You wonder what a 400 year old vampire is going to do with jars of peanutbutter and why.

>Try to catch a bus
>Walk home, to hell with those Red corps jarheads
>Take care of your shopping list in this area.
>Try your hand at feeding again, this time you're actually going to be successful

Shopping list, we're all business. Maybe.
>>

>>Take care of your shopping list in this area.
>>
>Shopping first.

You're all business this time, and you might as well do the shopping here, after all there is a shopping plaza near by. You are probably being watched, but who cares. You need to buy peanut butter.

A few blocks later and you're at the local target, getting your various items. When you get to the Peanut butter isle you question Beatrice's taste in the stuff, so you opt to get chunky instead. Who eats the smooth stuff anyway?

After you get your shopping sorted out (while adding a couple of things to you wanted to get). Your new number one priority is to go home.

However, a couple of Red Corps Vampires are bumming around a bus stop that you need to be at, namely Gail who points you out she says something, probably something obnoxious, and the group starts laughing at you.

>Just stand over there and ignore them. You don't want to get in a fight on their turf

We're clearly better than Red Corps riff-raff, no need to acknowledge them.

We a hottie

>>32420054
Just smirk smugly. Either they don't see it and nothing happens, or it'll throw them off and we have psychological victory.

Maybe you should have advertised this...somewhere. Ah well, slow start isn't that bad.
>>
>>32420054
>Walk home, you don't need to take the bus
Get some exercise. Vampires need exercise right?
>>
>>32420082
Easy way of doing it.
So, what kinda powers do we have? Unless you're saving that for exposition updates.
>>
>>32420054
>Walk home, you don't need to take the bus
Man, I never look for quests in the catalog any more, that's the third new quest in a week I've almost missed.
>>
>Stand your ground.

You're not going to take this kind of abuse, especially not from Gail of all people. You go right over to that bus stop and stand there like you didn't notice them.

Gail keeps hurling snide remarks and insults to her friends until she realizes that you're plainly ignoring her. You get smug satisfaction from her not getting your attention. Eventually she just walks over to you and flicks your head. "What are you doing, Shrimp? Isn't your turf by the bay?"

You rub your head and sigh, "What does it look like genius?" You raise your bag of "groceries".

She laughs and flicks your head again. "They have stores over there you know." she moves to flick your head again but you grab her wrist. "What the hell? Jeez, I'm just going to walk home."

Gail pulls back and laughs it off, "No need to be a baby, anyway you should be careful, that Armada cult has been skulking around. You don't want to get kidnapped or anything. Well, we're not responsible if you do."

"Yeah I know, Armada has been everywhere lately." Well you've only heard of them everywhere, they seem to be pissing off vampire community and the church simultaneously.

You start your long walk home, you actually like walking sometimes, especially since you have increased stamina since you become a vampire, amongst other things. You don't really have any unique vampire abilities, other than being able to charm your prospective lunch, though you're hesitant to use it.
>>
>>32420595
Eventually you come to an area that looks a bit run down, a group of young looking hooded people gathered around an oil barrel fire. When you get closer one of them walks up to you and addresses you.

"Sorry to bother you miss, but have you heard of the fellowship of Armada?"

Uh oh.

>What are you going to do?
>>
>>32420595
I'm guessing this is a >cont?
Anyway, I'm not entirely sure what counts as regular vampire abilities in this setting, but I'm sure it can get filled out as we go.
>>
>>32420617
>Feign ignorance, priority number one is not to let them guess you're anything but naively relaxed here. Try to see if you can detect anyone relevant, friend or foe, in the immediate area.
>>
>>32420636
Yeah, I'll get to powers eventually, you're a pretty weak vampire right now. You do have good strength, agility and stamina. Minor regen and basically what equates to "Charm person"
>>
>>32420617
Do we know anything about these Armada or whatever? Like, are they abnormally fast or strong, or differ from individual to individual? Or complete mystery?
Either way, brush them off but in a non-suspicious manner. Look like you think they're a regular weirdo cult.
>>
>>32420715
You know they're a weird cult, mixed with people that think they're vampires and some that are vampires.

They have been kidnapping members of the vampire community and humans over the past month or so.
>>
>>32420617
Say "sorry, I'm atheist" and move on. Keep that cool.
Oh, see if any of them are hot chicks too.
>>
>>32420778
I vote this
Also aren't we already a hot chick or did I misunderstand something?
>>
>>32420761
Creepy. Anyway, running isn't a good idea unless they become more hostile then.
>>
>>32420844
Well I don't think we can mack on ourselves unless generic vampires have cooler powers in this setting than I'd assumed. But it was mostly a joke anyway, getting involved with these bozos would be a bad idea no matter how attractive.
>>
You give him a look of ignorance. "Sorry, I'm an atheist. But good luck with your movement?" You sense that he specifically isn't a vampire, but some of the hooded people near the oil barrel are vampires, two of them. The rest are just weirdo humans that are probably getting manipulated by them.

However the hooded guy tries to push some pamphlets into your hands. "Even if you are an Atheist this community benefits all kinds, we believe Vampires are the one true rulers of the world, the dominate species. We humans are just vessels for blood and breeding."

He says that in a weirdly cheerful way. "Thanks but no thanks, maybe, I'll think about it.", you don't throw away the pamphlet immediately, as to not offend him. He smiles and decides to let you go on your way.

A while of walking later, you still can't shake the feeling of eyes on the back of your head, and the lingering sense of another vampire in the area. Yeah, they definitely decided to follow you. However, you sense that this vampire isn't very powerful, a thought pops in your head that you could probably take him or her or it.

Fuck it, don't get an interesting quest without breaking a few eggs (or a jar of peanut butter in this case). Try to trick whoever it is into attacking, maybe go into an alley or something. If they don't take the opportunity, just call them out.

Beatrice is your sire and mentor. She's like an older, arrogant older sister to you.

>>32421087
Yeah, let's ask for advice with a message rather than potentially be a bother to her.
>>
>>32421162
I don't think she'd find it a bother. Maybe a bit worried because she was did robed as an older sister type of person towards you
>>
>>32421262
Well, depends what happens. For all we know, we end up fighting our pursuer, and our relation to Beatrice marks both of us as hostile to the cult, pulling attention to her. Which would be a bother if we can simply go home instead.
>>
Not knowing what to do, you subtly get out your phone and start texting to Beatrice about being followed.

You: Yo I'm being followed, what do I do?

Its almost a minute before she replies

Beatrice: Did you get the groceries?

You sigh heavily and retext your situation

You: I'm being followed by armada, stupid.
You: Yes I did get what you asked.
Beatrice: No need for hostility. Anyway you can probably take care of it yourself. How many?
You: Just one guy.
Beatrice: You're an adult, take care of it yourself. Don't bring trash into my bar

You reply an affirmative. She was always the tough love kind of vampire. She can't babysit you forever.
>>
>>32421329
I also have a feeling she's the tough love kind of vampire that wouldn't like a smashed jar of peanut-butter. So, let's try to avoid having it be a casualty of combat. Find a bench, sit down and see what happens first off!
>>
>>32421329
Enter an alley, carefully place groceries in a place safe from violence AND thieving hobos, tell our stalker to reveal themselves.
>>
>>32421329
You decide to walk to a more populated area to attempt to lose him, which will change soon due to it getting later into the night.

You're careful to weave in and out of the crowd with your bag of peanut butter, careful not to drop it. You suddenly wish that you bought the ones in the plastic jar, not the glass jar.

The vampire behind you however, is pretty damn persistent, they're young and weak, but you figure they're probably old enough to sense the presence of other vampires, like you. Eventually you almost make it home to the bar, however the stalker keeps their distance to an extreme level. They obviously don't want to tangle with the vampires in this area.

You can probably catch them off guard at this point.

>Course of action?

>>32421329
Are we Armed with anything or do we just have our bare hands to rely on?

You take what Beatrice told you to heart, despite probably being a joke on her part, you could never tell.

Your ability to catch him off guard is assured, he probably doesn't know you're an aficionado of Bruce Lee movies and formally an amateur vigilante. You suddenly sprint down an alleyway, which is probably going to surprise him You place the bag on the ground in a safe spot and wait behind a corner for him.

As you planned, you hear panicked footsteps approaching your spot. You

This seems like the perfect opportunity to test out a new move you've been practicing for a few weeks on a humanoid target and so you do.

You jump out and do a pretty sweet flip, with your foot connecting to the top of his head. The payoff is great as his head bounces off of the ground, as if it were a soccer ball. You recover and shout goal at the top of your lungs. Man that was pretty cool.

It wasn't a hard enough hit, but it seems to have effected him as he looks wobbly on his feet. However you still see that there's some fighting spirit with a pinch of regret in his eyes. You think that he probably regrets trying to kidnap you alone, clearly underestimating you and who your mentor is.

Your thoughts are interrupted as he goes for another punch, this time its significantly sluggish.

Curious about him and his cult following you and you assume, trying to kidnap you. You kneel down right next to him, figuring he'll be too weak to try to attack you. You still keep your guard up just in case he gets any ideas.

"So why were you following me? I thought I told you no to your crappy cult"

The man spits out some blood and a tooth at you, narrowly missing. "Fuck you, the fellowship never reveals anything to outsiders and nonbelievers"

New Legion(your faction) heavily prefers on dealing with rogue vampires secretly. So technically there is a vampire police among some trusted members of the faction. Red Corps on the other hand doesn't care what the vampires do to rogues in that area, as long as its out of human sight.

They both want to keep vampire affairs with vampires though and want to do everything in their power to keep the Church out of it.

You get irritated at the fact that he followed you, and that he spit at you. You try to summon the most intimidating aura you could muster and try to threaten him.

"I don't take lightly to being tailed, not at all. In fact its the number one thing I don't like." you lean in closer with a glare on your face. "How about you make my mood a little better and tell me why you were following me." you grab one of his legs. "I'll break this if you don't talk"

He coughs and doubles his glare at you. Not relenting. "You'd better kill me then, kid."

It turns out he won't relent. You're hesitant about actually going through with trying to torture him. Figuring it won't go over well with his friends. You're caught in a dilemma.

"You're lucky that I'm almost as low on the totem pole as you. Hell you're not even worth wasting my time with this!"

The man growls at you, "You human worshippers will never silence the Armada. You will know your place."

You scoff at him and bang his head against the dumpster, knocking him out. You pick up his limp body and toss it in there for good measure. Bet he likes smelling like hot garbage.

You retrieve your groceries, thankful that none of it went missing and head home.

As you enter the bar you come across the top dog of New Legion, the group of vampires you belong to, leaving the bar which looks like an old irish pub. He looks down at you with mild disdain, and calls back to Beatrice. "Looks like the young one is back from where ever you sent her." he pauses, "Don't forget to check with what I told you." you see her nod an affirmative and he takes his leave.

Jeong "Jim" Kwan, the leader of New Legion, he's very traditionalist about the way vampires handle things, which is why he doesn't like the way you were sired and see you with some level of disdain, and at the same time, grudgingly respects Beatrice, who never truly plays by the rules.

You finally relax and make your way over to the bar counter where Beatrice is cleaning some glasses. The place is never really busy, and there's always one customer that sits there drinking whiskey at the end of the bar counter. Nobody ever talks to him.
>>
>>32423713
"So kid, how did you deal with your secret admirer." Haha very funny. You tell her the whole story about how some Armada jerks tried to sell you on their cult. Her expression looks neutral the entire time. Eventually you hear some commotion going on upstairs. "Hey Trixy! Is he gone yet?!". It sounds like Emma, a werewolf shapeshifter who hangs around the bar, and Beatrice almost all the time. Whenever you ask about their relationship, Beatrice hits you so you stopped asking.

"So about those groceries, did you get them?" oh yeah, you put the bag on the counter and Beatrice rummages through it while Emma rushes downstairs and pinches your cheeks from behind. "So what did the cutie get us from the store." Beatrice scowls "The wrong thing, considering I specific smooth on the list and despite the stalker you still took forever to get here". She glares at you.

Beatrice stares at you and Emma giggles "So they picked it out?" she asks. "Well yeah, everyone knows that chunky tastes a lot better. I mean what were you going to do with so much peanut butter?"

Emma at this point bursts out laughing while Beatrice puts her hands in her head. "Anyway, about Armada, the guy was probably trying to kidnap me, like the others." Beatrice waves it off. "So did more people get kidnapped?" you ask, changing the subject. Beatrice polishes more of the glass, looking like she's thinking of a response. "Yes, but not Vampires though. More humans are turning up on the missing person database day by day. Kwan says that the Church is gearing up to intervene.

You put two and two together. "So he wants you to help out?" Beatrice puts the glass down and ruffles your hair. "Hey you're getting smarter by the day. That's why he was here actually. I sent Emma upstairs because he doesn't like Werewolves."

Emma pouts. "Yeah, what's the big deal? Its not like I bite" Beatrice interjects "You do bite. A little too hard sometimes. Anyway a meeting between the factions is probably going to take place here soon."

"Here? In the bar?" you ask. "Bingo. In the bar." Beatrice confirms "I'd say in about a week or two". This is getting pretty serious if the Church is about to get involved. You want to do something to help, just because you're undead doesn't mean you like innocent people getting hurt.

Motherfucking superpowers. Maybe she'll teach us something she learned with Emma, ifyouknowwhatImean.
No but seriously, we need some exposition on powers!

I'll back >>32425037, we're a woman of action!
>>
I have to apologise, but I have to take a break for a little bit. Balancing family stuff and updates is getting a tad too much.

I will be back asap. If the thread ends up dying I'll try to finish friday(Thursday is when every popular quest is going live for some reason this week)
>>
>>32424963
How close are we with the church anyway? I mean, I'd hardly expect buddy-buddy, but do they have ambassadors, have we met any of their agents, etc?
>>
>>32425300
Alright OP, take care! Unless you're back within the hour I'll probably be gone at least. Might want to archive already just in case of misarchivist or, as you mentioned, dropping off the board.
>>
>>32425300
Later.

Since I might be gone when you return, I'll drop some feedback. Overall I think it's been quite good so far, your prose doesn't stand out a lot, but it's pretty solid, and there aren't a lot of editing issues. The characters could use something to make us care about them a bit more perhaps, I'm not sure it was a great idea to drop us basically into exposition-town, as the pacing feels a bit off too.

Dropping us into something people can get more invested in, which knowing /tg/ could be anything from fights/waifus to dressing up, might coax out more voters/discussions, and would also give you a better chance to steer exposition better instead of having us basically come up with random setting/character-related questions without prompting. Also, more character images would be nice but aren't that important.

Overall it's good though, I'm looking forward to more!
>>
>>32424963
I vote for vampire powers.
>>
>>32425300
Might want to start a twitter or something.
>>
>>32425879
Probably a good idea, yeah.
>>
>>32425543
I'll take that to heart. Sometimes I get distracted and post without checking for grammar/spelling/punctuation. But believe me, I cringe when I see them.

I'll try to fix some of the pacing, but I'll introduce more people for our heroine to potentially make friends with(or enemies).

>>32425316
The Church used to be a hostile party for a long time mainly because back in the day Vampires didn't really have a code or factions they belonged to. New Legion and Red Corps cropped up originally as a defense against Church Executors since more vampires that stick together logically makes it easier to survive against attacks. Everyone soon realized that they'll keep losing people if the conflicts between factions continue to happen, so they made a treaty. Red Corps get one area, New Legion gets another area and the Church stays out of Vampire affairs with the promise that any rogue vampires are dealt with swiftly and out of sight of the humans.

As for the latest vote, I see that some people want to train with Beatrice first and some people want to jump in and do foot work on the streets. I'll let people change their votes if they decide they want to go wherever after. So quote this post and your original post if you want to change a vote.
>>
>>32426303
I expect the pacing should be fine once the plot kicks into gear, and/or more characters for anons to latch on to are introduced.
>>
>>32426303
Does Carmen know church-people? I kinda feel like I'm asking stuff that will be addressed in-quest eventually, so feel free to not elaborate.
>>
>>32426303
Training would be good. No need to rush this.

"I know, you can teach me some of your Vampire powers. I know you can probably do some cool stuff right?" you bring yourself to ask. You know how to charm normal humans but that's all you know how to do, you even forgot how to do it when you attempted to be a vampire for once and tried to seduce your dinner. Another thing which Beatrice hasn't showed you how to do yet, as you both subsist on blood packets from the Blood bank.

She actually looks surprised for once, and thinks about your suggestion for a little bit. "Some things you can't really 'learn' but I could teach you a pretty neat combat trick. To protect yourself, since you almost got kidnapped and everything."

Emma pipes up. "So who is going to watch the bar?" you all look around, its just as lacking in customers as ever. Beatrice points at Emma, "You're going to stay, like a good girl." "Aw but I want to come with you guys." they bicker back and forth for a while before Beatrice whispers something inaudible. Emma obviously is the only one that picks it up and blushes. "Ok I'll stay. But seriously?"

Its going onto 1am when you two arrive at the parking lot. "So what do you want to learn from me?"

This sounds badass. We're clearly amazing at charms already, so!

Sounds good.

>>32426936

Stick to what we're good at. Just gotta hope all our future antagonists are attractive women!
>>
>>32426936
> "Well, what do you think would be more useful?"
Let's foist the decision off on her!
>>
>Everyone picks something different.
You can't really make up your mind, so you ask Beatrice about what you're thinking about. "How do you escape people chasing you better? I know someone probably tried to impale you from time to time."

Beatrice crosses her arms, "Ha, very funny. But to explain it...you just blend into the darkness and shadows. You let them do the work and people can't find you."

"Ok, and what about..empowering yourself with contacting blood?" you ask next. Beatrice raises an eyebrow "How did you know I did that?" "A guess" "Well its pretty self explanatory, you use blood that comes in contact with your skin and..whats the word, supplement it to your strength? You're not really drinking it, you're absorbing it in your skin"

"And lastly, charming people, you seem to be able to get a lot of ladies..." you trail off. Beatrice laughs. "Just one lady. Do you need girl advice or something? You're cute enough. Anyway, what you're looking for is Enthralling people, which could work to your advantage though I'm not sure if you're suited for it."

You think about your options a little more. Beatrice yawns and stretches. "Yeah sure, take all night. Its not like we have a bar to run or anything."

Awww yeah.
Also I have to sleep now, thanks for running OP!
>>
>>32427604

Let's go with the safe one for now.

Plus, it'd be funnier to see her hit on girls without the enthralling power.
>>
>>32427604
>>Blood Empowerment
>>
>>32427969
I'm already imagining our MC being convinced she's catching them hook line and sinker, when at best they find her confused attempts at seduction adorable. That could be her seduction power, making people find her failed flirting cute rather than sad/off-putting.
>>
>>32427660
>It sounds useful, what can I say.
It's the most niche of the three. It requires us to have a supply of blood to use, which we're not always going to. Might be nice later, but we should skip it for now.
>>
>>32428082
Well the way I see it, enthrall/blend only work when we get the chance to put them to use, and are powerful enough to overpower. But there's likely to be SOMEONE bleeding whether we're seducing, fighting or fleeing (someone strong enough that we can't escape easily anyway).
>>
>>32428170
I guess it depends on if we can use our own blood for it. That would make it better. Otherwise in a combat situation we'd have to damage our enemy and get their blood on us, which isn't too reliable.
>>
It seems we have a tie between Blood empowerment and Escape in darkness. Now I'm going to rip off a thing I saw recently from another quest thread and do.

1. Blood Empowerment
2. Escape in Darkness

Don't quote this post. Nothing else really affects the post timer besides that.

Voting will end in 5 minutes.
>>
>>32428310
Hmm, I guess. They're all kinda niche though, since there's a lot of stuff we can't seduce/run away from no doubt.

Eh, we can use Escape in Darkness for more than just escaping. Preparing surprise attacks and stuff.

Maybe its because what happened earlier probably affected you more than you realize, or maybe its the recently increased number of kidnappings, but you want to make sure you're able to escape if the situation calls for it. "Well, teach me how to use the darkness to escape."

Beatrice nods and you two get started.

About two hours later, you're getting pretty good at blending into the shadows. Beatrice in addition to that also taught you how to mask your...vampireness? Well that's the word she used. You now know how to blend in properly, and only vampires at a certain level of power can sense your presence. Which will help if you get chased by cultists again.

You two decide to turn in and close the bar at around 3am. The man that sits on at the end of the bar leaves quietly, you learned early on that he probably likes his habit of sitting there for an undetermined amount of hours before it closes. Not even Beatrice knows why. Emma practically drags Beatrice up to her or their room. She pretty much lives here now.

You, on the other hand stay up until morning, practicing your new found abilities.

Thread 1 end.

I figure this is a good stopping point. I'm going to make a twitter account real quick.

>>32428785
Ah, alright. Thanks for running!

Twitter is go.

I will probably run it on friday, between 11am to 1pm at the latest if nothing goes wrong.

If you have any questions or concerns, I'll still be awake to answer them.

Don't really have much to say so far. See you next thread.
