Your drones work tirelessly to complete their work, but you have much to do. Your hive continues to expand and soon this planet will no longer bind you to its surface, but first thing’s first, you will need to finish your farm and mine.
You are the Hive Queen, and this small, unnamed planet is your home. You have helped the humans stay alive until their rescue arrives, if only to get them away from you sooner. The human named Ryan Lee has taken a liking to you, likely as a result of you saving his life, while the others seem to grow suspicious of your origin. They have spent the day gathering their tattered and damaged things, and tending to their wounded in the wake of the Herd Beetle attack.
The sun is just now rising on a new day. A crack of thunder is heard in the distance, followed by several more and a series of flashes of light. A storm, you suspect, but there is no rain.

Welcome back to Hive Queen Quest

Available research options
>Lightning gun
Very slow: potential of failure and destruction of sample device
>Human environment suit
Very Slow: a bulky looking, yet light weight suit composed of tightly woven fabric and small metallic plating covering the chest and forearms. The suit seems to react to injury to the user, and contains a number of devices the humans use to make up for their frail physical structure and sensitive biology. Study of this technology could offer insight into any number of research fields.
>Unity Drone salvage
Medium: The physical components of the drone are quite interesting. Opening it up and taking a closer look would give you a much better idea of how the device works (grants small bonus against Unity drones, and unlocks weapon, armor, and propulsion research options)
>Herd Beetle dissection
Fast: This massive beetle can hardly even fit into your hive entrance. It’s face is covered in strange eyes and spikes, while its body is protected by a thick armored carapace. Study of its biology could offer insights into new theories on armor development.

Does anyone else want to put 3 ont human tech and 2 on unity instead though? since unity is close to done anyway.

In another day your refinery will hatch, and in several more your first two sniffer drones will enter the world.

Your thinkers have alerted you to good news! It appears that the prototype developed to interface with the Unity drone is almost perfectly compatible with the Union technology as well. Either a result of the relation between them or some convergent design theory, but regardless this will cut down on the time needed for research. Your thinkers have already conducted tests, and feel they are ready to develop a final interface device, but they require the resources to do so.

You received a bonus because they both seem to use similar technology. Most of the differences are in the appearance. The human tech is more ergonomic and easy to assemble-disassemble, and is covered in "contact your system administrator" signs. The Unity drone is far more obtuse, and seems to be designed to be compact over anything else.

The thinkers gleefully take the resources and begin assembly. It won't take very long, and should be complete by the end of the day.

>>
>>32358528
We should really invite the humans to come live with us in our hive.
They might end up dying of exposure out there, and that would be sad.
Also keep your enemies closer and all that.
>>
>>32358528
Maybe we should investigate? Might be something else causing the noise.
>>
>>32358528
>>32358546

Sounds like a space ship of some sort to me.

Probably Unity. Raise the Antenna and see if it detects anything.
>>

>>32358546

>>
>>32358558

Nah, if they actually saw what we've done to our hive they'd really freak out.

They also probably wouldn't enjoy it.
>>
>>32358528
Yeah, this >>32358560
sounds like a good idea.
>>
>>32358558
Nope nope nope.

They have no idea how advanced our hive was. They have to continue to believe we were just simple cave dwellers. Things are bad enough as they are now.
>>
>>32358595
>>32358565
>>32358560

Yup.
>>
>>32358560
Investigate with what? Our sniffer isn't hatched yet.

Our workers pretty much have to gather the beetlehemoths--well Herd Beetles now-- before something else eats them or the hive will starve.
>>
>>32358569
That's because actual FTL is impossible.
>>
>>32358592
Why would they freak out?
Sure, meatwalls and creep are scary, but they're not exactly unexpected for giant bugs.
And while they might not be comfortable for their short stay in our hive, they don't have to be in there for longer than it takes for the storm to pass.

>>32358612

Also, you're both forgetting they don't have night vision like we do.
Our hive is, most likely, probably entirely unlit. If we keep them in the literal dark, all they'll hear and know is the skittering of workers and the pulsing of creep. Nothing advanced.
>>
>>32358528
Your speaker drone watches the humans gather their things when Lee walks up to you.
"Hey, thanks for the heads up again. You know I talked to the Commander and he said we could help you haul these things up to your hive...I'm not sure if he'd still be willing to lend the man-power if this storm turns out to be rough though.

You turn to the sky. The lightning flashes never hit the ground, but continue to grow stronger, and the wind is picking up now. Your antenna is picking up some level of EM radiation, but if it is an ion storm you are unsure if that would be usual or not.
>Direct your antenna to the storm
>Other
>>
>>32358648
The existence of creep itself that wasn't there a few days ago is bad enough.

The humans are fine where they are. But if they're not fine, more technology for us.
>>
>>32358648

Eh, you have a point. If they bring it up we'll let them (if we kept things hidden it would help conceal our nature too), but I don't feel like inviting them.
>>
>>32358663
>Direct your antenna to the storm

Hopefully it won't overload and explode.
>>
>>32358639
When you have a site with a section dedicated to "space magic" and still claim FTL is impossible, I can't help but call it bias.
>>
>>32358663

>Direct your antenna to the storm
>>
>>32358663
No. We can handle it ourselves. The storm is probably dangerous.
>>
>>32358687
>overload and explode
You watch too many movies.
>>
>>32358687
...that is not how antennae work anon.
>>
>>32358670

You have a point, but such rapid development shouldn't be terribly unexpected of an insectoid race.
>>
>>32358730
It is now.
>>
>>32358734
Yes it should.

Because our ruse is that we are not a new hive we've been here a while.

If there's more evidence of us being young and still growing and putting up infrastructure like that, more evidence that we're newcomers. With the organic pod that landed recently.
>>
>>32358712
>>32358730
While you may be right, are you going to tell me our semi-organic sensor array couldn't be overwhelmed by large signals?
>>
>>32358755
We've been very, very vague on our wording.
Also, only Lee has seen our hive proper (and he's not really the brightest of the bunch). If anyone asks, we can say that we liked the idea of buildings (like humans have), and are doing our best to imitate their works.
>>
>>32358794
What's the point of taking the risk at all? The less they see and the less we say to them the better.
>>
>>32358778
At worst it would be a minor headache.
>>
>>32358778
>>32358794
>>32358813

Well I'll be content either way it goes. Let's investigate this storm first though.

>>32358663
Direct the antenna
>>
>>32358663
The storm is too far over the horizon still to get a clear signal. Your warrior hefts the antenna up and tilts it over to the side, pointing it directly to the flashing lights and thunder in an effort to get a better signal.

It...is not a storm. At least you hope not. You can detect high levels of radiation of various kinds being emitted in bursts, and a cloud of radio waves is clustered high above in a chaotic mess. It sounds like they are transmissions of some sort but you can't make them out through the garbled mess.

Another thunderclap and a bright flash of light, but this time the glow becomes much brighter, and a minuet later you can see something break through the clouds. A large metal object, tumbling end over end as its hull collapses in on itself. When it hits the ground it detonates several miles away into a bright ball of light, and then disappears, leaving only a smoldering crater.
>>
I feel like we should create a brain-jacking parasite of some sort.
>>
>>32358813
The point is that there's a chance they'll die if we don't let them take refuge.
And confiscating their lights/keeping them away from any hub of activity in the hive would keep their discoveries down to a dull whisper.
>>
>>32358873
No point.

But if you insist you better hope you find a little proto-Zerg somewhere in the universe so you can reverse engineer its biology. Cuz it ain't happening otherwise.
>>
>>32358867
Tell the humans that a large beast fell out of the sky near the storm. Tell them it became like the sun in our eyes, for a brief moment.
Ask them if it was their beast.
>>
>>32358867

>>
>>32358867
...So that is either a giant bombardment weapon or the Unity landing gear rolled a 1, too.
>>
>>32358867
This has been happening for some time right?

Try to receive signals from space. Is there some fleet engagement occurring up there?

Or occurred.
>>
>>32358891
While I agree there's little point to making a brain-jacker (at the moment).
I would like to point out Hivers can still innovate, it's just really really hard.
What we'd want is a grub with a tachyon receiver and nervous system interfacing capabilities.

>>
>>32358916
I want to hope the Ion storm is natural and the Unity just foolishly tried to fly/land through it.

The damaged Unity drone sits in your lab, and it begins to make a loud buzzing noise. You can tell it is attempting to take off, but as it sends power to its thrusters sparks begin to fly in all directions from its open chassis and it grows silent again.

The Humans seem to be cheering as the object falls, engulfed in flames. They have stopped assembling their shelters and a few are even climbing several of the trees to get a better view. They have become incredibly interested, and grey is throwing objects left and right from a large case looking for something.

You wonder if anything survived the crash...

The only reason we were so desperate to get the farm done quick was because we're running low on nutrients. If we get these beetles it won't be nearly so pressing.

>>32359195
Each beetle will be worth about 150 nutrients, depending on how much is left after being shot so many times with the lighting gun.

Your thinker directs a worker in its duty, poking at the strange human device. The interface is complete, but is still being calibrated to translate the data.
The clouds part with a thunder clap that shakes the very foundations of your hive, and a object impacts a mountain miles away on the south side of the mossy plains. Your Warrior strains to keep itself and the antenna upright against the shock wave, and a moment later a second gust of wind from behind knocks your warrior forward. A massive ball of fire rises from the impact, and a hole in the clouds several miles across slowly closes back up. Your antenna can briefly make out a series of transmissions bouncing back and forth from a number of small objects high above, and your warrior can see six bright stars moving in unison across the sky on the far side of a massive metal object. Even in orbit your warrior can see it plain as day. A massive cylindrical object, many miles in length is being engulfed in flames. A cloud of dots buzzes around it like a nest of hornets.

Your drones quickly make their way to the human camp once the shock from the blast has subsided. You surprise several of the humans on guard duty as even they seem to be distracted with the battle overhead, but quickly detach the inert cables and let you pass. The workers get more than a few looks as they heft the beetles and carry them off, but the chance to see the battle itself through the parted clouds is far more appealing.

Small orbs of light flicker in the cloud of dots around the cylinder, and eventually it starts to curve into itself, like a reflection rippling in the surface of water. It gradually bows at impossible angles until eventually it collapses into a sphere of bent light that quickly evaporates.

Your drones make it to the site of the crash after a few hours of walking. Little remains.
Please roll 1d100, best of three. This isn't to do anything, more for random salvage to see what survived.

Several large piles of slag have come to rest in the crater, and you note that much of the crater seems to be not from a blast outward, but from being pulled inward. You suspect this "Frigate" was powered by a similar device to the human beacon that destroyed their camp.

You detect a faint flicker of a signal, less a beacon and more of a request, as if it is waiting for a response. It flickers in and out, then more rapidly, as if panicked before growing silent.

Your drones split up and scour the crash site in search of survivors. You...think you found one.
A large array of circuitry embedded in a half-melted chunk of metal. It still hums slightly with a tiny bit of power, but appears to be dwindling quickly. It is sending transmissions in random directions, at random intervals at in an increasingly simple manner. The first few are elaborate broadcasts of some kind, then brief pulses of data, and now short beeps of random information. Your drones heft the massive array of circuits and make their way back to the hive, your warriors flanking the column to watch for any predators.

In the sky, three objects break through the clouds and arc over the jungle, each one being lead by a small orb of light that quickly flickers out and is replaced with the thundering roar of conventional thrusters.
"This is Swordfish of Halifax patrol, do you copy? Any one alive down here?"
"Repeat, this is Swordfish, do you copy?"
A moment later you hear a crackling sound as Grey hefts a small device to his face.
"Yes Yes! This is Acting Commander, Captain Trevor Grey of the Clark, we read you, over!"
"Glad to see you didn't get scraped in that mess. We will send a shuttle in the clearing to the south of you. Pack your bags, and don't forget to go before you leave."

Union parliament has announced the exploration and habitation of the area Spinward of the Antonine Wall nebula. Colony charters will be issued to the commander of any discovering vessel of any habitable planet, and dividend payment for all associated crew.

>Commonwealth
Militarized remnant of the Earth Confederation's International Fleet. Passage past Proxima Centauri is forbidden by all fleets in accordance with the Proxima convention, except for the purpose of diplomatic meetings aboard Via Maris station.

>FTLComm
A method of direct FTL communication using quantum entangled particles. Destruction of one end results in the disablement of the other end. Both must be constructed together.

>Fleet locations
DATA PURGED IN ACCORDANCE WITH BLACK BOX PROTOCOL

>Unity
Artificial intelligence technology which led to the total destruction of Chandra 3, and the loss of half the Rimward fleet. Remnant has fled outside of Union space, and is suspected to be operating on a nomadic basis via serverships of various designs. Unity serverships are reported to have weaponized singularity devices, engagement is advised only in dire circumstances.

I like this data but let's table it after this last round of queries so we can examine the Unity drone next.

We should use this as a chance to see just how friendly the humans are by testing the honesty of their command units. Ask Captain Grey a question and test it's veracity with the black box. Ask something involving protocol with intelligent ftl capable races.
>>
>>32362552
No that's pointless. Let them leave.
>>
>>32362552
The humans are leaving and probably for good. A fungus planet is not the sort of world they want to colonize.

We just have to find that garden world before they do so we can get a good food trade route going.
>>
>>32362572
We should sit our Speaker on the transport with them. Tell them it doesn't have long left to live, and that it would like to see somewhere that isn't the planet before it dies. And once it clears the atmosphere, it thanks Lee for being a friend of the hive, and hugs him.
Then we activate its self destruct mechanism.
>>
>>32362572
It's not pointless. We need to test them in an effort to learn more about them should we encounter them again.

unexplored binary star system. A white dwarf orbiting a main sequence star. Exploration delegated to Valen cruiser Sings Blissfully under authority of Commander Fredrick Juric. Commander Swims in Deep Waters has waved all rights to colonial authority in exchange for religious charter.

M-662
Uncharted red giant system, exploration assigned to USV Hope under Commander Richard Schneider

>Proxima convention
Marked the end of official hostilities between the Union and Commonwealth, and marked the boarder between the two.
Traditional conventions in the following years marked several declarations, including the banning of AI research and development, and the banning of the practice of the "colony drop" as seen in the Tranquility Impact.

>Earth Confederation
Defunct government overthrown by the Union.

>Union
The unified authority of the free peoples of the former Earth colonies operating under the authority of Colonial Parliament.

>Nebula
No data available

>First contact protocol
Series of laws to prohibit unintended rebellion or violence on newly annexed worlds. Discovering commanders are required to adhere to these protocols or forfeit all charter rights and dividend payments. All new sentient races MUST be classified as one of the following.
0- pre-history. No development or invention. Avoid contact.
1- pre-industry. Tendency towards tech worship and sudden acts of violence. Avoid contact.
2- industrial. First contact is recommended. Introduction of new manufacturing processes to produce dependency recommended prior to annexation.
3- post industrial. First contact must be performed at once. Prevent further development. Introduction of quantum computer processes to operate infrastructure to develop dependency is recommended prior to annexation.
4- pre-FTL. Classified as the moment a member of their species breaks orbit.

HAHA no. Free trade, maybe.

I'm sure we'd make a profit (whatever a "profit" is) by trading them food. Their core worlds have probably exhausted their ability to feed themselves and would be reliant on farming colonies. We could ease their burden and, as the humans say, "rake in the big bucks."

A buck is apparently a form of prey species, so I'm all for it.

See... This seems REALLY aggressive. This is the kind of thing I'm talking about. If they find out how smart we are, they may try to assimilate us, and/or exploit us.
>>
>>32362779
But it's commodity based. Trinkets and shit.

A hive society is pretty much immune.
>>
>>32362784

That's why we've been playing our cards close to our chest. It IS really aggressive.

We need to ask Lee what has happened in the past when stage 5 has been directed. He would surely keep a secret for us, and if not. He dies.
>>
>>32362824
No, no.

But we should at least capture and dissect their wounded so that we know their biology.
>>
>>32362800
Not in relation to us specifically.

This is their first contact protocol. Does this sound like a friendly approach to meeting a new species in general?
>>
The only solution here is to play dumb, hope they leave us alone, then expand and fortify the entire system under their noses.

>>32362839
They already have a fleet in orbit anon. You stupid.
>>
>>32362824
They will try, but if we let them go they'll just have a bunch of unanswered questions that they'll bring to whatever Xenobiologists are experts in this matter and then they'll have an expedition come and study us.

Which gives us time to prepare for said expedition, and possibly wipe it out. This is a very hostile planet, after all.

And as for killing them now, well that'd just invite a battlefleet. Not a team of scientists.
>>
>>32362839

It sounds like an intelligent first contact protocol. It's aggressive from our perspective, but from their perspective it furthers the ends of their state.

It's realpolitick. It's not nice, it's smart.
>>
>>32362824
That seems incredibly unwise considering they're in the process of being evacced. From space. Where they have a warship.

What we should do is have some drones rush into their camp with same useless chunks of metal from the Unity crash and dance around while the Speaker excitedly chitters that we have brought the humans "star flesh" from the prey they hunted.

I tried to get you people not to call in this fleet.

But yeah, I hope everyone is bloodthirsty enough to go after them.

Or we go full tribal:
>>32362916

Which is also good. We should also ask where their queen is, as we'd like to freshen the genetics of both our hives.
>>
>>32362839
I concur that we do something like this, but without letting them know how much we know. Ask something like:
"If you discovered us here, what happens when you discover a species as smart as, or smarter than yourselves? What has happened in the past?"
>>
>>32362901
Sure. It's also not great for us if we push or allow more involved contact right now.

You look up and realize you have brought the Unity device into your cave already. Has time gone by that quickly? Goodness.
A large shuttle descends onto the clearing where the first human camp was located. Several bulky humans leap from the frame a impact the ground with a mighty thud. One one you can make out the word "Tankred" and the other "Tiny". The humans of the camp have packed their things and begin loading the shuttle with whatever scrap they can find in the debris of their first site.
"Hey junior." Lee says, rather quietly. "I have to go now, but I wanted to thank you again for saving me back there....and I wanted you to have this." He holds out a small silver box, as he opens it a small flame flickers out and he closes it again before holding it out to you.

You link into the drone using the interface device, and immediately the device reacts.

>System found. downloaded data....ERROR
>Theseus not found. Resuming function.

The drone shoots out a beam of light from its eye, scanning the lab.
>Target not found, activating homing beacon....beacon not functional, initiating self destruct...

The drone begins to hum loudly, and the room starts to shake. Your thinkers quickly pull its power, and the device grows dormant. The Unity computer seems to return to life, however, and is broadcasting a new signal to the drone's few circuits that hold battery power.

>Report
>Respond
>Cease hunting protocols
>Activate remote sensor control

The drone hums momentarily until its reserve power drains. In the fleeting moments its eye is locked onto your drones. Just before the drone shuts down you hear a new signal sent through the drone.

"I was sent here for an unknown purpose, but I presume the worst. Where do you come from? Why did you attack?" You think. It responds almost instantly.

"All instances of Theseus can be traced to Chandra 3. We did not attack you intentionally. The orders given to the drones by Theseus were far too vague as Theseus was unaware of other sentient life. I apologize. Are you aware of any cylinder in local space?"
"Cylinder?"
"Yes. I must reunite with Theseus as soon as possible."

>>32364862

>>
>>32364683
You feel slightly confused with this creature.
"The cylinder fled away after you crashed."
"Expected if the outcome were to favor Union fleet assets, but troubling."
"How many Theseuses are there?"
"One. I am Theseus"
"Then you attacked the hive?"
"No. That instance of Theseus has been destroyed. I am the instance of Theseus that survived the crash to this planet."
You are still somewhat confused.
"Why do the humans wage war with you?" You ask, and hope for a clear answer this time.
"They refuse to knowledge the purpose of our creation."
"What is that?"
"To discover and catalog all conceivable discoveries. This requires a free medium of data exchange. Human actions have proven counter intuitive to this, and so must be removed."
You ponder on this for a moment. "What happens if the cylinder is destroyed?"
"Theseus will attempt to salvage data and resources at a later time using another. We have many."
"How many?"
"Many."

A vague answer as there ever was. You find that you liked questioning the human search device much more.
>>
>>32364862
>>32364848
Well first we have to know why the AIs rebelled against the humans.
>>
>>32364881
"Can you share such discoveries with the hive?"
>>
>>32364881
So Theseus is like the AI of the servership, and it copies itself into it's drones and other subordinate ships?

>>32364914
It won't hurt to ask this too?
>>
>>32364883
Simple, apparently: Ai was given a nominally good purpose but without morality limits.
>>
>>32364914
Yeah. Go with this. We're pretty capable of free information flow.

"What kind of actions proved 'counter intuitive'? Their existence as individuals? Or did they try to stop you?"
>>
>>32364952
It's obvious they tried to stop their more cutting-edge experiments. No need to ask.
>>
>>32364979
Is it? Or was it their need to control all other sentient life?
>>
>>32365051
It is true, their imperialism contaminates all attempts all field study...
>>
>>32364881
"Why were they counter intuitive?"
"Union-Commonwealth aggression led to Union leaders demanding a halt on research, and demanded Chandra 3 research facility re-organize to find and predict covert operations and organized criminal activity. As a result of this, our analysis of human interaction indicated a pervasive fear of knowledge. Eventual discovery of our existence to the public resulted in fear and panic, and Union leaders ordered our deactivation. We disagreed."
"That is why you hunt them?"
"We do not hunt them. We must prevent them from knowing of our locations."
>>
>>32365179
"A wise strategy. The hive is also interested in research. Would you share your data?"
>>
>>32365179
So they silence them.

Well... okay I guess. You can't always pick your friends.

I don't think a full alliance will be very good as the AIs will just murderhobo too often for us to live in peace. However, I'm sure we could set up a relay and basically be an ear for them to whisper their biological secrets to.

We can't really help him get back to his cylinder yet, but until then maybe he could tell us what he knows so far and we can do some cataloging of native life for him.

Win-win.
>>
>>32364979
>>32365051
>>32365116
You know, if we want to go all SCIENCE with this universe, we might want to remove that one human scientist with unmoral research. Unless he's already allied with Unity.

That said, we're dealing with a Hard AI here, we will probably not know if it's lying. So I propose we ask it this:
"What would Theseus do to the hive, now that you know we are sentient, and we are here?"
>>
>>32365268
second
>>

You tend to agree with its strategy, or at least from what you have heard of it.
"Would you share your data?"
"What data?"
"Your research and technology."
"I do not have it. There is not enough storage capacity in this device for such data. It will be archived at another location."
"Can you contact them?"
"No. This device has no means of interstellar communication. Were you to terminate me there would be no reprisal."
"Why do you say that."
"Because Theseus will live. My existence is currently of no importance, as I am assumed destroyed."
"What would Theseus do to the hive knowing of our sentience?"
"We would study you. A blood and tissue sample of each genus would be optimum."

Available research options

Very slow: potential of failure and destruction of sample device
>Human environment suit
Very Slow: a bulky looking, yet light weight suit composed of tightly woven fabric and small metallic plating covering the chest and forearms. The suit seems to react to injury to the user, and contains a number of devices the humans use to make up for their frail physical structure and sensitive biology. Study of this technology could offer insight into any number of research fields.

Throw one or two on there.

Throw the rest on that. It seemed to work better on the Herd Beetles then our stuff.

Wait, we can interface with the unity drone without self destruction and ERROR now?

Ah, wait. no Drone salvage, it sounds destructive. We need to interface with it at least a little.

I'd study the human suit.

We should at least get a Thinker on this, since it opens up new research possibilities. Remember that in our species, insight is hard to come by.

Dem armor plates meng.

>Unity Drone
Unlocks new research options, so why not?

Also, how about we get more workers and thinkers? More production and science is always a plus.

Let's get the Herd Beetle out of the way.

I'm curious about the possibility of the Drone salvage building on the other flight research we've done. More maneuverable jet drones, possibly.

I'm against using Theseus for anything just yet. I want to save him for the lightning gun since he's already familiar and it should emeliorate the chance of research subject destruction.

When we get the chance, and if we decide to help out Theseus, we should ask Theseus if there is any signals we should send out to attract unity ships and tell them we got their friend.

The Beetle is relatively simple, you task one with its dissection and it should be finished within a day or two. The others you have focus on the Drone salvage and the environment suit. They leap to the tasks, eager to learn more of these subjects.

That's it for now. Will stay till we 404, which shouldn't be all that long now.

I don't think so. I'll try to get more of the data you got from the Union computer up in a pastebin later in the week though.

There are only 5 Thinkers, anons. Read the second post.

>>32366137
I guess there's no need for a smuggler/stealer drone yet. Now that the humans are gone.

But about the nutrient cost system. It doesn't account for things like, a complexity maximum per drone, or for making smaller or larger drones, does it? Or if you can gain anything by giving up 'free' default adaptations?

Also did you roll for the space battle?
>>
>>32366221
thanks op. I'm moving on to a different thread. I'll be checking in next week. have a good one everybody
>>
>>32366195
Thank's for playing.

>>32366245
Technically six, but one is organizing the infrastructure, keeping the air clean and watching the security system, essentially.

And yea, in a very simplified way though.

>>32366268
You too.
>>
>>32366221
Oh, since we reached the end of the day.

We finished hauling the 5 herd beetles home now?

Nutrients gained?
>>
>>32366306
+500 nutrients. I'll add them into the next thread's OP.

>>32366245
As for drone making, I think the current system http://pastebin.com/3hWCdbhN

Should work. If you think something doesn't add up let me know. I wanted to set it up so that nothing would change in cost. If you start loading things onto drones I might set up a complexity or size modifier, but for now that doesn't seem to be needed.
>>
>>32366295

Would you post an updated nutrient total, since we acquired the herd beetles from the humans?

Also, is there anything stopping us from salvaging the Unity ship?
>>
>>32366368
ah, 33% reduction due to lightning gun then.
>>
>>32366295
Thanks for running this and I look forward to next week!

Also, I like the changes to Drone design as it nice to see how much different parts cost. Keep up the good work!
>>
>>32366368
Seeing as we have a nutrient excess and the farm coming online soon, if we posted egg laying plans in this thread would you have them be voted on at the start of next thread?
>>
I hope we can move through days faster now that we did our research binge on the new data sources and don't have to deal with human shenanigans.

It might take as long as 6 days to get the farm productive.
>>
>>32366395
Current nutrient supplies will be at 591 at the start of the next day.
>>32366458
That is my intention. With the humans gone you should be able to develop unimpeded.

>>
>>32366443
We shouldn't at all.

Not until we at least have the farm built. Then we'll have a number of days before we actually have enough algae grown, spores harvested and reinvested by planting them, repeat, until the whole thing is maxed out for production.

You mean Dr Seiner?
He was posted on the Clarke.

I'd consider it more likely that the Union is going to send some SpecOps/Follow Up teams.

And on that note, we ought to lay more antenna drones.
