You are Flight lieutenant Julian Reber of the Royal Air Force. You joined the RAF to fight the BETA, aliens who threaten to exterminate all human life on Earth, and because you're Swiss and fighting for other countries is just what you do, especially when Switzerland is occupied. The European Union is currently planning a massive offensive on a BETA Hive that will either make or break the entire war effort and you've been given one day off to settle your affairs before you deploy.

You decided to start your day off by calling your parents. It's been a while since you've talked to them and it'd be rude to get yourself killed without talking to them first.

You dial your mother's phone number at the Swiss embassy. She picks up before the phone is done ringing even once.

"Hello, mother?"

"Julian!" You hear her voice on the other end of the line. "Good morning! How have you been?"

It's 0600. The only way she could have picked up the phone so fast is if she'd been sitting right next to it, waiting for a call.

"I'm fine, mother," you say. "I just wanted to check in before my next assignment."

"I'm happy to hear you're fine," she says. "You're father's away right now, but I'll let him know you called."

>(cont.)
>>
>>32358165
You can't tell her what your mission is, but you don't need to. There's no way she doesn't know why you're calling. Your father definitely knows about the Hive infiltration as well. He's probably monitoring from some military bunker right now.

It makes things easier, in a way. You weren't sure how you were going to tell your parents you were heading off for a probable suicide mission. This saves you the problem. It's enough that you called to check in.

>"That's all I had to say. Goodbye, mother."
>"I think I'll come visit once the mission is over."
>"I think I'll come visit once the mission is over. I'd like to introduce you to a lady friend of mine."
>>
And as a head's up, for today's thread, you get one XP for each death flag you trigger.

Pick up all the death flags. Oh and at some point we have to talk to Hall.
>>
>>32358173
"I think I'll come visit once the mission is over," you say. "I'd like to introduce you to a lady friend of mine."

"That's wonderful, dear," your mother says. "I was afraid you wouldn't be able to find someone with how busy you were."

"Work's not that hard," you say. "It's mostly several weeks of waiting, followed by a few hours of complete mayhem, depending on what the BETA movements are. We don't have the time and resources to get after every little thing."

"In any case, I'll let your father know you'd like to come by so he can make arrangements. He has enough pull with the RAF to give you a day or two off."

"I should be able to work it out on my own, but thank you. I'll see you later."

"Goodbye, Julian."

With that, you hang up the phone. The government will most likely want to parade you and the rest of the Camelot group around for a bit once you come back from the Hive, so you'll probably end up in London whether you like it or not. It shouldn't be too hard to find time for your parents.

That, however, is for later. The day is still young and you still have plans to make.

As you leave the building, you pass by the base's civic office, which has just opened up. They carry most government forms and facilitate paperwork for personnel with dependents or properties off-base. Last wills and testaments are their primary business, but you're certain they also process marriage licenses. On a day like today, they'll probably be open late into the night.

>Grab a marriage form. You never know when you might need it.
>Keep walking.

>>
>>32358951
>Keep walking.
Whoa, lets not get carried away now.
>>
Hey, how old is Julian Reber anyway?
>>
>>32358951
You enter the civic office and look around. You see a stand containing the most common government and grab a marriage form off the top. Judging by the thickness of the stack, you're not the only one who needed one. It's not that surprising. TSF pilots get decent life insurance packages and you've even heard some of them use them to get a quick lay before deploying. It's not even strange for people to marry friends through mail correspondence just so the money goes somewhere.

You fold the form up and stuff it in your breast pocket. You'll decide what to do with it later.
It's a cool morning outside, but it's not cold and it's bound to warm up later on. With no clouds in the sky, it looks like it's going to be a nice day. You might be able to find time to go to the beach - or rather, for what passes for a beach around here.

Now that you've spoken with your parents, it's time to move on to the next point on your to-do list.

You meet Elaine just outside the officer's mess.

"Morning." You greet her with a casual wave and she waves back. "Think they'll have real food today?"

"Apparently," Elaine says. "I heard they were even going to have proper coffee."

"Coffee? In a British mess? That's both scandalous and delightful."

The mess is indeed serving coffee with real eggs, real muffins and real sausages. The two of you eat hungrily and make plans for the rest of the day.

"I thought you were going to be with Mary this morning," you say.

"We decided to follow your lead today," Elaine says.

"Your pity is much appreciated."

Elaine laughs softly.

"This might come as a surprise, but women have their own needs." She leans in closer and whispers. "And not all of them are the type Vivian and Mary can satisfy. Maybe you'd like to try your hand?"

"Why do I have the feeling you're just teasing me," you ask.

"As I said, we decided to follow your lead today," Elaine says. "It might be our last day together, so we don't want to miss our chance. If you want to spend time with us alone first or wait until the four of us our together tonight, it's your choice."

>"I think I would very much like some private time right now."

"I think I would very much like some private time right now."

"Good!"

Elaine quickly finishes her coffee and practically pulls you out of the mess and into your room. She recklessly rummages through her closet until she finds her swimsuit and a towel. You catch the hint and grab your own beach gear.

"The beaches here aren't much to look at, but there won't be anyone there," she says. "Let's go!"

Before you can respond, she pulls you out again and leads you out of the barracks at a fast walk. Her pace increases until you're both out of sight of the main base, at which point she breaks into a full job. By the time she finds a spot on the beach, you're both covered in sweat and gasping for breath.

You both change into your swimsuits - it's somewhat odd, since you're planning on taking them off soon enough, but there is a process to these things - and Elaine throws you a bottle of lotion.

"Would you rub this on me, please? Front and back, if you don't mind."

Elaine sits with her back facing you so you can rub lotion on her back and shoulders. It doesn't even take a second for her to grab your right hand and slide it down the front of her body. Then she pulls your left hand much lower down. As far as hints go, Elaine's not being subtle. You hungrily kiss the crook of her neck and push her down.

"Elaine, I-"

"You don't need to say it," she says. " I just want to feel it."

An hour later, you're still covered in sweat and you're grasping for breath, but this time, you're laying on a beach towel. Elaine is plopped right on top of you, her eyes practically glazed over.

"We should have done this earlier," she says. "Much, much earlier."

"I think the timing worked out fine, in the end," you say. "Besides, there's always tonight."

"Damn right there's tonight," Elaine says. "And every night after the war's over."

Elaine tries to stand, but her legs are still wobbling and you have to steady her.

"Will you be all right?"

"Don't be too concerned with me," she says. "I'm not the only person you have an appointment with today, nor do I want to be."

The two of you put your uniforms back on and head back to the barracks at a slow pace, mostly because Elaine occasionally needs help walking straight. You're not exactly steady on your feet either. You carefully avoid other personnel on your way back to avoid embarrassing questions.

Vivian is sitting on your bed, apparently waiting for you. Elaine just tosses her things off to the side and starts stripping again. Between this and the semi-transparent fortified suit, you almost wonder why people don't walk around naked.

"I need a shower again," Elaine says. "Vivian, he's all yours."

Elaine enters the bathroom and shuts the door behind her.

"Someone had a very good time." Vivian stands up and sniffs you playfully. "And so did you, apparently."

"Are you jealous?"

"Competitive, more like," Vivian says. "Should we get going?"

The truth, you could really use a shower yourself, but the bathroom's occupied and you doubt Elaine will want to walk in on the two of you once she's done cleaning up. Staying here is a bust, unless you decide to take some time to recover.

"We could have some fun with our fortified suits in the Excalibur's cockpit."

"That is surprisingly conventional around these parts," Vivian says. "I'm all for it."

"Just make sure to come up with a convincing lie when you hit up requisitions for new suits."

"I have absolutely no intention of lying to them."

Yeah, that's going to do wonders for the scuttlebutt.

Fortunately for you, the hangars are extremely busy and nobody notices you sneak into the locker room and then into the Excalibur's cockpit.

You set aside your bag of spare clothes and Vivian immediately latches onto you, wrapping her arms around your neck and firmly locking her legs around your waist. You only just barely manage to keep your balance as she starts kissing you hungrily and fumbling for the release that will melt the suit's membrane.

Half an hour later, you are spent - again - and various fortified suit components, half-dissolved membrane and bodily fluids stain the interior of the Excalibur. It takes the two of you another half hour before your very thorough cleanup is done.

"On second thought, maybe this wasn't such a good idea," Vivian says.

"Every self-respecting pilot has sex in his TSF at least once," you say. "There's even a standard cleanup protocol."

"So that's why you knew to bring detergent."

The two of you are interrupted by the sound of the cockpit opening. Still naked, you stare like deer caught in the headlights as Mary cheerfully smiles and greets you.

"Julian, Vivian, good afternoon," she says. "I was hoping I could catch you. I was just hoping you'd be done getting dressed."

"We'll be done in a moment." Vivian hurriedly puts some clothes on and rushes out of the Excalibur, quickly kissing Mary on her way out. "I'll see you two again tonight."

That leaves you alone with Mary, who is apparently your next date. She checks to make sure the Excalibur's pilot seat is clean before she sits down and watches you finish up.

"It sounds like you've had a tiring day," she says. "Are you sure you're up for more?"

"Absolutely," you say. You pull up your pants and start buttoning your shirt.

"How about the hot tub?"

"You do look and smell like you need a shower." Mary giggles. "Come on."

Once you're finally presentable, Mary escorts you to her hidden hot tub in the research hangar.

You gleefully toss your clothes aside and slip into the bath. At long last, you no longer feel wet and grimy. You lean back, close your eyes and rest your head between Mary's thighs.

"I thought you might need time to recover, but I was feeling a little impatient, so if you could..." She trails off.

You don't need more prompting than that to dive in.

Afterwards, the two of you linger in the bath, Mary sitting in your lap and leaning against you contentedly.

"We need to do this more often," Mary says.

"I've been getting that a lot today," you say.

"I bet you have." Mary stands up and reaches for her towel. "But the day's not over, and we still have some things to take care of, don't we."

"That we do."

You quickly wash your face and scrub yourself clean one more time before drying yourself off. You don your uniform properly this time, so that once you're done, you look like an immaculate RAF pilot. After all, you should look civilized for this next part.

Mary takes your arm and the two of you walk back to your room in the barracks. You're quiet all the way back, partially because you want to enjoy your late afternoon stroll, but mostly because you're busy thinking over your next big speech.

On the plus side, the four of you are already committed to a common relationship, so if you choose to go through with a marriage proposal, you only need to be pragmatic about it.

You return to your room. Elaine's sitting on her bed, chatting with Vivian, who's standing next to her.

At long last, it's time for you to sort out your affairs.

You lean in close to Elaine and kiss her.

"Elaine, I love you," you say. "From the moment I got here, you were the one person I could always count on in a fight, both in and out of a TSF. There's no one else I'd rather entrust my future to."

"Vivian, I love you," you say. "You were a bit of a mess when I got here, but you learned to cope. No matter what happens, I know I can trust you to make the right call."

You set Vivian down next to the bed and kiss her. Elaine leaps up and then drags her down. You turn to Mary.

"Mary, I love you," you say. "You stuck with your work in spite of how hopeless it was, and now, we're going to prove them wrong."

Then you kiss Mary and toss her on to the bed to join Vivian and Elaine.

"Also, I'd like to have children with all three of you," you say. "I'm thinking three or four each."

"That is a lot of children," Elaine says.

"Yes, but you'll need heirs and my parents want a lot of grandchildren," you say.

You kick off your shoes and dive into Elaine's bed.

The four of you enjoy the rest of the night.

And that's it for today. Now, for some housekeeping.

The Quest is moving towards its ending and I want to make sure it ends on a strong note. I looked through the archive votes and they're pretty stable, which is what I was going for. I don't really care about the popularity, but there's no point in running the quest if there aren't any players.

Still, there are a lot of things I'm not personally satisfied with. I wrecked a lot of GMs' plans, so I prefer to write off the cuff, and I think the general quality of the quest as suffered for it, particularly when it comes to R&D and spy threads, which tend to feel more like filler. The episodic format I was going for just doesn't work for a quest like this.

So, the next few threads will focus primarily on battles and I'll quickly tie up what was left of the research and spying side of things. There isn't much left to do, so hopefully, it'll help me pick up the pace and nothing of value will be lost. I think I've got 5 or 6 threads left before everything is wrapped up.

After that, I'll run a more episodic quest, probably something in the style of Leverage, and do some preparation and research for a more long-term quest which will start on July 28th.

So that's it for today. Next thread will be Wednesday at 7PM EST.

'Night folks.

>Still, there are a lot of things I'm not personally satisfied with. I wrecked a lot of GMs' plans, so I prefer to write off the cuff, and I think the general quality of the quest as suffered for it, particularly when it comes to R&D and spy threads, which tend to feel more like filler. The episodic format I was going for just doesn't work for a quest like this.
yeah, those threads tended to feel a little bit like filler and small timeskips but thats kind of the nature of episodic questing, the alternative is spending 4 times as long as you did to get through the same events, and you did a good job on them anyway, I'm still having fun even when I miss most of the threads because timezones a shit

nah anon, have faith in RC, Julian and his girls are gonna make it out of the infiltration and be the bane of all who oppose europe for decades to come

I imagine that once the Lyon Hive is cracked, europe is open to be reclaimed and its a much renewed war effort, which means less work for Julian and the girls, or more work off the front lines, they break this hive and the other countries will be forced to go along and help the EU fight the war they should be fighting

>I looked through the archive votes and they're pretty stable, which is what I was going for. I don't really care about the popularity, but there's no point in running the quest if there aren't any players.
Yo RC, don't look too much into the votes, many players forget they even exist and I rarely upvote quests I like, like this one, mainly because I know your a reliable and awesome writer so I don't need to worry about the health of the quest too much, because you've got that covered.

In large part, the votes on Sup/tg/ are only indicative of the minority that remember to vote, randomly browse the archive and find the threads, or are trolls and bots, so no need to worry, I'm still loving this.

Pretty much. Ignore that shit about votes. Bots can upvote or downvote them. Remember DLN quest?

you will have a lot more players if you make your own quest, be it a parody of popular things or not.

the biggest factor that made more players away was the title of the quest, despite being original people assume you need to read/watch the show.

you may also want to work on making character personalities.

I'm an archive reader and rarely participate in the threads due to scheduling conflicts.

You are doing a fine job and I'll give your next quests a good look as well.
