Welcome to Banished Quest!
You take the role of a young mage, labeled a criminal by his people and cast out into the wider world. In the last thread, you sparked up a conversation with your business partner in Anthus and then I got banned.

Chryssa lazily drapes her arms around your shoulders and nuzzles into your chest. Just before she begins to snore loudly enough to wake the dead. Plus you're pretty sure she just wiped drool on your fancy cloak. You've never seen someone vacillate so rapidly between adorable and off-putting. Fortunately it isn't long after that she begins to wake, rubbing the sleep from her eyes and stretch. Her first course of action upon waking is to sleepily mumble. “Why're you carrying me? What happened with the... the thing, the monster.”

“We retrieved the AI's core and fed it to a fire spirit in exchange for knowledge. You were badly injured during the fighting and it took some doing to heal you.” You explain while setting her down on her own two feet. She ask in a slightly more cognizant tone. “So I'm okay now? How long have I been out?” You shake your head slowly, debating just how you want to phrase this. “You're not really... okay. At all really. In fact you're doomed to die unless we cram you into a thousand year old Rhynian machine that has a very real chance of killing you. You've been asleep for-” Fulvia butts in here. “Roughly seven hours.”

Chryssa nods her head slowly, seeming largely unphased by the news of her impending death. “What is it that makes my death so certain, what is wrong?” Party progress for the moment has halted, as everyone is curious to see how Chryssa is doing. You launch into your explanation of events slowly. “Well, when you were knocked out you must have landed near some of the delirium waste, because your reserves were corrupted. When I woke up you were practically ready to explode, absolutely glowing with vys. Your body was starting to break down and you were running a terrible fever. That in mind I set to reading those documents we'd retrieved from the room above the reactor in the hopes of finding a cure.”

You pause to collect your thoughts for a moment and then continue your explanation.“The reports indicated that symptoms of corruption didn't usually set in until a day or two after initial exposure, and you had pretty severe symptoms after only a few hours. Thus it seems obvious that your case is particularly severe. I found word of a device which cured corruption by draining vys completely, but it killed the first person they tested it on. The second time around they added a kill switch which would prevent the device from killing its occupant, but there is still the chance that it might backfire. The device is on level fifty and that's where we've been headed.”

You nod your head, satisfied that you hit all the major points. Chryssa seems to take all this in for a moment before simply shrugging her shoulders. “Very well, a chance at life is better than certain death. How long should I be awake before succumbing once more to unconsciousness?” You shake your head. “No idea, wish I could tell you.” She nods. “Then we should make the most of our time and keep going. What level are we on?” Fulvia buts in here. “We are currently on level thirty-one. There are nineteen levels to go before we reach the device intended to cure you.”

She folds her arms in front of her chest, leaning her weight on one foot. “Very well. In light of my condition I will allow Profectus to continue leading. My mental faculties may be impaired.” Profectus rolls his eyes. “How very gracious of you. I hadn't realized I needed your permission.” Darzi taps him lightly on the arm, the non-stone one, though it still seems to hurt thanks to that armor she's wearing. “Come on, she's dying. Show a little respect.” Profectus scoffs. “Dying my ass, we've found the cure all we've got to do is get her there. She's got about as much chance of dying as I do.” Fulvia gently points out. “Those are not very good odds, all things considered. It is quite likely that any one of us could die in these tunnels.”

Profectus sighs, reaching up to rub his eyes wearily. “Fuckin'... alright, on that cheery note lets get going.” He turns around on his heels and marches off down the hall, the rest of the party following. Conversation seems to have tapered off and the atmosphere seems all together a bit more somber.

>You should ask Profectus if he's had any opportunity to meditate, maybe give him some pointers for learning fire magic.
>You should scold Chryssa for leaping at the AI like that. It was a stupid move and she should be more careful.

THERE'S MORE OF THIS SHIT?!?

Post pls or something
>>
Chryssa Avci: A strange horned woman you encountered in the village of Khmedi. (Technically) married to a man by the name of Mazhar.

-Elaudian Death Mask (+6 to attack rolls, telescoping vision, magic sight,
-Earth-shattering Mace (Inert until she learns Earth Magic)
-Chryssa's Compound Bow (+4 to ranged attack rolls.)
-Reinforced Technicians Armor (+2 to soak damage, spell amplification, improves health (passive), hazmat functions (active), self-repairing (active)

Special Abilities:
-Impossibly Strong: Capable of incredible feats of strength. The upper limit of what she is capable of is unknown.
-Stoic Demeanor: Chryssa is not easily shaken. It takes something truly catastrophic to make her panic.
-Apprentice Vatis: You've taken Chryssa as your apprentice, and have begun teaching her the ways of magic.

Profectus: A thousand-something year old Rhynian soldier subjected to unknown experiments to enhance his magical abilities. Prone to vice, but all around a reliable friend.

-Optio Armor: (+3 to Soak Damage, Spell Amplification, Improves Health (Passive), Hazmat Functions (Active), Self-Repairing (Active), Boost Attributes (Active), Hidden Effects)
-Amplified Falcata: (+4 to Attack Rolls, Increased Damage, Hidden Effects)

Special Abilities:
-Volcanic Arm: His right arm has been replaced by a stone construction that spews fire with unbelievable force.
-Lost Memories: Certain situations call to mind memories of his time as a Rhynian soldier a millennia ago.
-Apprentice Vatis: You've taken Profectus as your apprentice, and have begun teaching him the ways of magic.

Carrying:
-Archeota: A small device which projects and captures moving and still images. Contains several books stored in the form of pictures.
>>
>>32339091
It wouldn't be a bad way to meditate, though some tweaking would make it more effective. I'd probably give it a +8 or so.
>>
>>32339110

Fulvia: A Rhynian AI in a body she calls an "Administrator Construct". An avid fan of people watching and aspiring world conqueror.

-Upgraded Gladius (Spell-amplifying)
-Layered Armor (+4 to Soak Damage, Concealing)
-Administrator Construct Body

Special Abilities:
-The Core: Fulvia's mind is contained within a reality warping gem known as a Core. It allows her compatibility with any construct body.
-Generator: A large protrusion from Fulvia's back allows her to gather and store ambient vys to power herself. This means in areas saturated with vys her reserves are nearly limitless.
-Revive: Fulvia can release the entirety of her stored vys in one massive burst to restart someone's heart shortly after death. May do this once per day. Only works if the target has been dead for less than 10 minutes.
-Twist Reality: With enough stored Vys Fulvia can drag people and things into her core forcefully. Requires truly unfathomable amounts of vys.

Grandmaster Water Vatis are capable of regenerating cells. Thus healing meditation should probably focus on working towards that.

I like it.
>>
>>32339314
That's what >>32339091 suggested. That is how i interpreted it at least.

I interpreted it as just bleeding ourselves and trying to control the bleeding or staunch it, or just forcefully draining it while keeping our heart beating.
>>
>>32339342
No that was just bleeding and then healing.

This is bleeding and not healing but continuously creating more blood faster than can be lost.

Seems like a good way to strangle someone.

Regenerate enough cells and their throat will close off. It'd be like force-choking someone.

You pick up the pace slightly to catch up with Profectus at the front of your little party of adventurers. You clap him companionably on the back and he flashes you a grin before returning his attention to the path ahead. Seems he takes his job as guide pretty seriously, or at least he's using it as a distraction from the doom and gloom. “What can I do for you, Mik? Got any questions?” You shrug your shoulders. “A few, but mainly I was just wondering how your training has been going. Had any opportunity to meditate lately?”

He nods his head. “I meditated to regain my strength while you were asleep. I have to tell you it did wonders for me, because I was really feeling like crap after that whole... underwater explosion thing. Speaking of, is there anyone in the party who's ass you haven't saved?” You think about it for a moment, and then nod your head. “Fulvia, she's the only one I haven't needed to heal. Then again I wouldn't be able to. I don't know metal magic nor do I know whether or not metal magic would be capable of healing her.” Fulvia interrupts gently with. “It would, I've used it to heal myself on several occasions.”

You try to steer the conversation back towards the original topic. “Any progress with fire magic, or channeling magic to anything besides your arm?” He nods his head, slowly. “Yeah, sort of. I was able to use channeling to enhance my strength earlier, when me and Chryssa were hunting monsters to clear a path for everyone else. Chopped right through some sorta freaky... I don't know, crab-looking thing on level two. I haven't tried channeling to help with any sort of mental task.” You think for a moment, rubbing your chin. “You could try using vys to enhance your memory. You might remember something about your past.”

He stops in his tracks, the party grinding to a halt behind him. Darzi worriedly ask. “What's wrong? Why are we stopping?” but Profectus waves her off. “Nothing's wrong, Mik just gave me a fantastic idea.” He turns his attention back to you. “I'll try meditating on that later, I doubt right now is a good time.” You nod your head. “That sounds wise. You could probably also start working on your fire magic if you wanted to. I know some simple methods that ought to help you with your training.”

You run through the methods you know; drawing on one's self with hot ash, trying to control flames while meditating, setting one's self on fire, meditating on a bed of coals, and controlling how quickly or how slowly a rope burns among other methods. After a while conversation sort of peters out as he focuses more and more on the path ahead, since the tunnels around you seem to be growing more and more treacherous.

You're on level thirty eight when you come to a large carved out chamber, in the center of which is a massive pit sinking down who knows how far, through several levels at least. A simple rope and pulley dangle above the pit, suspending a platform in the air that was likely used to raise ore up and lower miners down. Now it may prove a quick and efficient way to drop a few levels. Innumerable pathways and tunnels seem to branch off of this chamber in every imaginable direction.

Profectus looks around confused for a moment, scratching the back of his head. “Well, shit. We didn't pass through here on our way down the first time. I must've gotten turned around.”

>Well lets try to get back on track even if it will take longer. No sense in risking getting lost.

You peer around the cavernous chamber, holding your lantern out in front of you. Come to think of it, you should probably set another marker. You prop the lantern up against the cavern wall and withdraw another from your cloak, it sparks to life in only a few moments and you set off on a brief tour of the chamber, trying to determine if it's already inhabited. “Well it's a good thing you did get side tracked, because that platform would get us down much faster than walking. Help me look around though. I don't want anything sneaking up on us.”

Your party fans out, slowly scanning the chamber for anything of note. You hear Fulvia call out from across the room. “I found a gold locket.” Followed a while later by Darzi calling out. “This corridor is tunnels is blocked off by spider webs, but I don't see any spiders.” While that bodes ill, at least she didn't get snatched up by some massive eight-legged monster and dragged into its lair. That would lead into a whole other side task that you don't really need right now.

You're about to call your companions together and start heading back towards the levers adjacent the hole in the ground that probably control the pulleys and winches supporting the platform, but you're stopped in your tracks by a truly horrible sight.

Staring right at you from a tunnel not three steps away is a truly massive insect. It towers over you, easily over twelve feet tall, and its mandibles drool some unknown noxious substance. Twelve beady red eyes are focused on you, the mandibles slowly sliding over one another in a manner reminiscent of a greedy merchant rubbing his hands together. You're not sure whether to flee, start throwing spells, or stand as still as you possibly can.

You would use Manipulate Vys to control other living creatures. Vys is essentially life-force or a creature's soul, so manipulating it allows you to control what they do.

Grandmaster Rostam, who's journal you read, used it to force his apprentices into an elaborate song and dance.
>>
>>32340665
Well Nature magic allow free control of plants and the Archmagos was specific in saying that Nature magic is not just plants but Animals too.

You could read their thoughts or intentions, depending on how smart the animal. Calm, confuse, or enrage them. You could basically encourage certain courses of action but not outright control them. You could also detect them and receive their sensory input. Basically see through their eyes, hear through their ears, et cetera.
>>
>>32340746
We use it on the anitmagic contruct which is at least part flesh. And the flesh was not decayed. So that flesh is alive.

Also you are grasping at straws.
>>
>>32340746
and?

No one claimed it did. It has a great balance of Support and Offense. Though they will often times combine with things like terrain manipulation and golems.

It sounds like you're trying for some dumb Fire > Earth shit.
>>
You raise your arm and channel fire magic through your armor. Flames shoot out of your palm, licking at the massive insect. It lets out a hellish screech and ducks the flames, but you maintain the flow of vys and swing your arm back and forth in the general direction of the spider. It recoils as the flames catch on the fine hairs that covers its body and the air is filled with the sickening scent of burning flesh. The screeching however remains constant. Soon you begin to hear it echoing from other tunnels, a chorus of insectile chittering.

It seems you've woken up some sort of nest, and that you don't have long before they all converge on this tunnel. You're going to need to either haul ass out of here or hop on that platform and let it drop a few levels to what is hopefully safety. Maybe this is the reason this stretch of tunnels is so clear, none of the other creatures that wander these halls are brave or capable enough to encroach on the spiders' territory.

>What rounds the corner is a huge beast. Its head nearly scrapes the ceiling, and it drags with it along the floor a massive pincer. Its other hand appears relatively normal, but it has two additional arms growing from its chest which it keeps tucked tightly to its body. Perhaps most worrying is that the monster appears largely hollow. Its chest is split open and resembles some giant maw, from within which golden light glows. A long ridge runs from its head all the way down its back into a stubby tail, and this two is split open down the middle to reveal its glowing innards. Even its eyes and mouth seem to merely be holes bored in its outer shell.

With the immediate threat banished into the tunnel you make a break for the platform. It hangs just a few feet below the edge of the massive hole in the center of the room, meaning you'll need to make a short jump down onto the platform. Normally you'd try to find a way to raise it up to a more reasonable position but, circumstance discourages caution. While you run you call out to your companions. “Everybody to the platform, move your asses!”

Chryssa is the first to arrive, and she leaps smoothly from the ledge to the platform and lands with a heavy, metallic thud. You're next, and manage the leap less gracefully. You hit the ground hard and are forced to roll to prevent injury, nearly sending yourself tumbling off the edge. Fortunately Chryssa grabs you by the collar of your armor and forcefully jerks you away from the edge, standing you up safe and sound. With the two of you standing at the end of the platform to catch anyone who overshoots Profectus and Darzi make it fairly easily. Darzi nearly knocks you off the ledge with her but once more Chryssa steps in and saves both of your asses.

Fulvia has the most difficulty, stopping right on the edge of the pit and staring down at the platform hesitantly. “I am not the most agile in this body.” She states with a clearly worried tone. Profectus shouts up. “We'll catch you, just jump already!” He sounds a bit panicked, and you can't blame him what with the chittering and screeching growing steadily louder the long you wait. It occurs to you that you don't actually know how to operate this platform to begin with, and there don't seem to be any controls on the platform itself...

You sit down, quickly assuming a meditation pose. It probably isn't all that necessary, but you don't want to risk losing focus on what you're doing and stumbling off the edge or something. “Just leap down Fulvia! It's probably perfectly safe!” You call out while a construct of ice erects itself next to the levers you think control the platform. Fulvia hesitates for only a moment longer before taking the leap. She plummets past the edge of the platform, having undershot the jump, but fortunately Darzi was there to catch her as she fell past and haul her up onto the platform.
>Vys Pool: 15/26

Once everyone is on board safe and sound, you focus your attention on the construct. It's odd, seeing through a separate perspective outside of meditation. You're finding it more difficult to focus outside of a trance, but you're managing. You reach out the construct's hand towards one of the levers, the largest one, and slowly easy it back. The further back you pull it the faster the platform drops. You find a good pace that doesn't leave you plummeting dangerously fast but quickly puts you out of sight and, hopefully, out of mind for the horrible giant spiders.

You try loosening the construct's grip on the lever, just as the first few spiders burst into the chamber, but that just causes the lever to swing towards a full stop and you're nowhere near the bottom of this platform. That said with the spiders closing in on your construct it probably won't be long for this world, meaning you'll probably be losing control of this drop soon anyway.

Ehh, a dome works
>>
You quickly condense water in the air into ice, forming a thick dome around your construct and the control levers. Unfortunately the first arachnid monstrosity reaches the dome before the dome is fully formed and jams its spiked arm through the ice with surprising force. It very nearly stabs your construct, though the ice eventually halts its progress.

You channel more vys into the spell, severing the creature's arm by tightening the ice around it until the pressure is enough to crush it. That done you short up the dome enough that the giant spiders are left uselessly stabbing away, chipping the dome away only for you to repair whatever damage they do. It allows your construct to safely keep hold of the lever and ease you down to the bottom.
>Vys Pool: (11/26)

You lose your focus when Profectus shakes you by the shoulders. For a brief moment the platform plunges towards the stone below but you manage to split your attention well enough that you can control the construct and remain mostly cognizant of what's happening around you at the same time. Profectus speaks, it seems like you must have missed something. “Did you hear me? Slow us down! We're approaching the bottom!”

You have the construct push the lever forward and the platform slows to a halt, dangling only a few feet above the jagged stone floor. With the bottom reached you reduce the construct you'd been using to control the levers into vapor and then banish the dome. The spiders are likely just horribly confused, having spent the last minute or so pounding away at the ice only for it to vanish suddenly and reveal nothing.

Everyone carefully hops off the platform, you getting off last. Fulvia speaks up once everyone has collected themselves. “I believe we are on level forty-seven. That lift dropped you nine levels, a pretty sweet shortcut all things considered, even if you did almost get swarmed by giant twelve-foot tall spider monsters.

The chamber you're in has five major exits, and Profectus takes a moment to inspect each of them before speaking. “I don't recognize this chamber, but if we start wandering we should eventually hit familiar territory.”

You drag your nature staff out of your cloak, arranging it so that the dragon head figurine points ahead of you. You channel only a little vys into the staff and it cast a bright green glow in front of you, illuminating the entire cavern dimly. Likely just showing you mold and fungus. You'd certainly like to hope this room isn't coated in tiny monsters waiting for you to pass by so they can attack.

You sweep the glow around the room, looking for anything more significant than a faint glow. You spot a few outcrops of bright green, but they don't appear to be moving so you assume they're just concentrations of plant life and move on. You sweep over your companions, who appear as bright roiling green figures shaped only vaguely similar to how they actually look. Profectus, for instance, is way taller than his figure appears to be and Fulvia is far shorter. You think their vys reserves may have something to do with that. Regardless, it gives you a good idea of what to look for from a living creature.

You keep swinging light around the room, pointing it towards the last two tunnels. Finally you're rewarded with what you'd been looking for, life. You see six vaguely wolf-like figures stalking through the tunnels towards you, three in each. You doubt they know what they're looking for, probably simply attracted to the noise. You're still relieved you found out about them, because now you can make efforts to hide your tracks.

“Well, just pick a tunnel other than those two and lets get going. We'll have company if we wait around here too long. Did either of you mark the tunnels at all to indicate you'd passed through?” Profectus nods his head. “Yeah, Chryssa wrote something in that barbarian language of hers.” Chryssa clears her throat. “Southern Dwoveth is hardly a barbarian language, thank you very much. I wrote 'Chryssa Avci was here' on the walls to indicate that we had passed.” Profectus mumbles something about there being a reason the Rhynians conquered the Dwoveth, but you couldn't really hear him. He promptly sets off down a tunnel, one situated diagonally from the monster infested tunnels, and the party follows. You wash the floor with water behind you to conceal your scents.

It doesn't take long before you come to a 'T' intersection, the hallway you intersect with in slightly better shape than the hallway you're in. Wooden support beams hold up the ceiling and a metal grille covers the floor. Chryssa taps Profectus on the shoulder and indicates a sentence carved into a wall with an arrow pointing to the left next to it. 'Chryssa Avci buradaydi'.

The party sets off left, and you once more hold up the nature staff to make sure the path ahead is clear. You're relieved to see that, apart of your companions and the background of plantlife, the hallway is devoid of anything living. It looks like you should have a peaceful journey down the last three levels.

You drop back to walk next to Chryssa, letting some distance grow between the two of you and the rest of the party before speaking. “How are you feeling?” She responds promptly. “I'm nauseous, my joints ache, my head hurts, and I believe I am running a fever. That said I should be able to make it down three more levels.” You nod your head. It's a good thing you found that shortcut, because if you hadn't she probably wouldn't have made it all the way to level 50 on her own.

You're not really sure how to broach the subject you actually want to talk to her about, but being blunt tends to work with her. “Any thoughts about your possibly impending death? What are your people's burial customs, assuming it's possible to retrieve the body if this goes wrong.” She responds with a shockingly neutral tone, considering the circumstances. “I'm absolutely terrified. Where it not for presence of others I would likely be paralyzed by grief. I am too young to die, and there is too much left to experience. I have not produced any sons, the only legacy I will leave is my named carved onto the walls of ruins, and I will die knowing that I have failed my father.”

She's starting to sound a little distressed towards the end, but after her tirade is finished she takes a deep breath to calm herself. “If I do not make it and you are able to retrieve the body, I would like to be burnt upon a pyre. Above ground, if at all possible. It is the customary funeral for a warrior of my culture.” She hesitates before continuing. “I would also ask... your people are long lived. It would provide me some piece of mind to know that, even hundreds of years after my death, at least one person would remember me.”

Eh, i think right her name down in random places would have been better than a book, since she can't really read and carved grafiti last a while.

That's just dumb, she just said that she wasn't satisfied with her named carved in places.

Ah, but she only said ruins, what i had in mind were large scale levels of grafiti.

Again, that's still dumb.

Just saying "Chrayysa was here" doesn't tell who she is like she wants. She wants to be remembered as who she is, the best way to do that would be a book.
>>
>>32343811
>we carve large scale monuments in her honor

I don't wanna go insane either bro but we already jumped on the crazy train when we chose enchanting

Not really. We already crazy. Doesn't mean we have to get any more crazy. If we master metal.
Fuck if we wanted it. I'm sure we could get more sane if we ran into another spirit in need or some shit like that.

You rest a hand on her shoulder in what you hope is a comforting gesture. Only after the fact do you remember that it's 'improper' for a man to touch a woman without prior permission in her culture. Even platonically. Fortunately she doesn't seem to take issue with it. “I'll remember you, Chryssa. Even when I'm old, decrepit, and mad.” You think you catch Profectus making a gagging gesture out of the corner of your eye. You'll need to slug him for that later. “Even once the senility takes me and I'm put down much like a rabid dog by my colleagues, we'll all be recalled fondly for generations to come. I intend to have our adventures recorded in a novel, or perhaps a series of novels, for the entertainment of the masses.”

She seems to think about that for a moment, cracking a small smile. “I like that idea... but I do not want to be represented as some larger-than-life figure. I do not want to seem perfect. I want to be shown as I am.” She nods her head firmly. It seems your promise has left her quite a bit more at ease. “Thank you, Mik.”

Profectus interrupts the moment at that point. “Well screw that noise, I don't want people to know about my flaws. If you really intend on writing this book make sure you represent me as the awesome, nigh-perfect figure that I actually totally am.” You smirk. “So leave out the whoring, gambling, and drinking then?” He turns his head to look at you as if you were mad. “What? No! That's the stuff that makes me cool! Are you trying to turn me into a good role model for the children or something?”

Conversation turns towards how each of them want to be represented in this book you've promised to write, and what they think you should write about. Darzi, notably, stays silent. You'd guess that she doesn't quite feel it her right to participate in the conversation. She's not really a part of the party after all, simply a tag along. Time passes quickly as Profectus goes on a tirade about how Fulvia should be represented as a twenty story tall robot with ballistae for hands in very clinical terms, Fulvia for her part projecting a very embarrassed image. You're fairly certain it's just his way of lightening the mood.

Finally you reach level 50. Unlike the levels above, the halls are absolutely pristine. They're walled with steel and doors line either side, it's much like the Rhynian Facility you first explored north of Licae, except perhaps slightly more overgrown.

You channel water magic into your armor, and you vision warps. The world is represented in an array of colors, mostly blue and purple. However in one room you see a particularly high concentration of dark yellow, reminiscent in many ways of bile. You can only assume that is your destination.

“I've found it, follow me.” You switch to Samjan, your native language. “Oh, and Darzi. Don't be shy, you can speak up if you'd like.” She clears her throat quietly. “It just seemed to be a very private moment, I did not wish to intrude.” You shrug your shoulders and set off through the halls, party trailing along behind you. “Hardly, we were merely passing the time.” She replies wryly with. “In a language I do not understand.” You curse quietly under your breath. You'd forgotten about the language barrier.

As you approach the glowing yellow ball of light you absentmindedly wonder just how they manipulated the corruption to prevent it from multiplying out of control. Perhaps it is not contaminated vys, but merely one of the filters designed to draw out contamination? That would make the most sense, you think. Then again you have a very limited understanding of how this corruption works.

When you reach what you think is the door you seek, you cut out your magic sight. It is a simple metal door, parted down the middle. Scrawled across it are the words 'Purification Chamber' and below that 'Officer Use Only'. That at least procides you some measure of comfort, a thousand years ago they apparently used this on a somewhat frequent basis. Unfortunately the door is sealed, and you see no control panel of any sort. You're not entirely sure how Officers were expected to get into the damn thing.

>Have Fulvia rip the doors open with metal magic. You want to get a look at this device before doing anything else.
>Look around for some sort of control room, that's probably where you'll need to activate the kill switch anyway.

You glance up and down the hall, looking for any other near-by doors. Unfortunately you see none, but there is an intersection, and it even leads towards what would be the side of this chamber, you think. You don't really have a good way of knowing how large or small the thing is. “Come on, I don't want to just rip this door open. Lets look for a control room of some sort.”

You turn on your heels and march off, turning at the intersection when you come to it. Proceeding down the hall you come to another door, this one labeled simply 'Authorized Personnel Only'. This is probably what you're looking for, and it even has a access panel next to it. You're about to reach down to place your hand on the surface when Fulvia grabs your wrist gently and pushes it away. “It won't open for you.” She states simply, before crouching down next to it and ripping out the bottom of the panel.

”Well how does damaging it get it to open?” Fulvia shakes her head. “Not damaging, simply exploiting a weakness in the security.” She rips out a number of wires, and then touches the torn ends of two of them together. They spark loudly and the door slides open. “See?” You nod, impressed. She'll need to teach you how to do that. You step hesitantly into the darkened control room, only for lights to spring to life as you enter. They shine harshly from overhead, bathing the room in sterile white light.

In front of you is a wide glass window looking into metallic room bathed in golden light. Sitting in the center is a circular pod, glowing faintly blue from some unknown internal source. Dangling above, seemingly suspended in mid air, is a miniature sun. Cracks, appearing in many ways similar to the veins of a bloodshot eye, encroach upon the glowing core of the ball. Extending from the ball to the pod is a slender tendril of energy.

Below the window, inside the control chamber, is an array of various buttons and read outs. Two buttons in particular stand out. They're invitingly big and red, one positioned on either side of the room and both covered with protective glass. They're labeled 'Eject Filter'. Unfortunately you see no control manual or any sort of handy chart indicating when you should eject the filter. It looks like you'll be winging this one.

Fulvia pulls the lever, and a door you hadn't noticed on the side of the chamber opens. You're granted a glimpse into the hallway you'd just been standing in.
>Send Chryssa to enter the pod.
>You're having second thoughts about this.

Profectus has the lowest reserves at 8 max, which is slightly above human baseline. Each use of his arm eats up 2 vys, sometimes more if he rolls poorly.

Fulvia can have either middling reserves or the largest reserves. For instance, that spell to drag you into her own little reality pocket cost 100 vys. Sometimes her maximum is only 10 though. Just depends on the environment.

Chryssa has middling reserves at 12. Above average, but nothing special.

Darzi's reserves are 10, which is Samjan baseline.
