You are Mason Page, 18 year old living in New York City. You have inherited the powers of your Great Grandfather, the infamous Jones Page, or has he was known for decades, the Ink. After witnessing a battle between Captain Genesis and Professor Doomsday, you came to find that their battles are choreographed, presumably for publicity needs, you decided to harness your powers, practice, and honor your grandfathers memory, becoming the next great Super Criminal.

For the past month, you have been neglecting school all together, training in the darker alleys, deep into the city, where criminals fester. Since the fight with the previous thug, you have had very little trouble with others. You haven't seen him around, but you think he might have said some things about you, as most of the other thugs you see try their best to avoid you. With your bag full of pens, you have been pummeling the walls, day in and day out, practicing your aim and finesse, but also, learning to deal some real damage. With full concentration, you can launch your barrage up and through a two foot thick concrete wall. Many of your pens broke and shattered, leaving you with less than half of your original arsenal. Maybe you should find a better medium for your powers.

>cont.
>>
With the mess cleaned from this days practice, you decide to head home. The sun hadn't even set yet, as you want to appear to your father as if you are returning from class. It doesn't take very long before you are back inside the familiarity of your own home, your father nowhere in sight. They must be keeping him late at the autoshop, you figure. On the kitchen counter, you notice a pile of papers, with a small note attached to them.

"Mason," it reads, "here is the missed work from class for the past month. -Jake" You reread the note, almost confused. Jake had stopped talking to you a month ago, when you revealed to him your lineage. You had barely even thought about him since then. Wanting to avoid your father knowing that you've been missing school, you take the papers to your room, and put them beneath your desk. You lie on your bed, in your almost untouched room. For the last month, it was only used for sleeping, and the occasional study. With your dad still at work, you have the burden of free time. You consider how to spend it.

Wait, what? Isn't that a bit extreme? Also suspicious, I guess. As soon as rumours of an ink-based villain spread, people will know it is us. Couldn't find any suggestions not to go to school in last thread either, so I don't know where that comes from. Besides, ignoring compulsory attendance seems like a fast way to become a social outcast and get in trouble with our dad, neither of which seems beneficial to us.

>other mediums
Isn't Ink our medium? Why do we even need pens? I would have assumed the most efficient way to go about this would have been to buy some bottles of ink. Then we could form shapes with ink, for example some spears. Trying to keep them from falling apart when they hit a wall etc.

>Look over missed Schoolwork
>Vow to go back to school soon.

> Look over missed Schoolwork

That pile looks pretty thick. An entire month of missed work is more than you anticipated. You decide it deserves at least a look through. Moving various books off of your desk, you place the first few packets in front of you. History, Math, English, a load of crap. You put your head down, and start flipping through the pages. You're a smart guy, you know most of the answers as is. As you flip from page to page, you're mind starts to lose it's track, and you begin thinking about other, more important things.

Your powers can be used in a variety of ways, you imagine. You've used pens and books before, but you've also thought about using Tattoos, to enhance your strength and agility, and to be used on other, controlling them, or killing them. Another thought you have had is to use printer cartridges, controlling the ink as a weapon on its own.

Realizing you've stopped actually working, you try to focus your thoughts back on the work. It's proving difficult, but you push through. After some time, the entirety of the work is complete. You figure you should go back to school, turn in the work, keep your grades up until the year is finished. There are only a few months left, and until then, you can just keep your practice for after schools and weekends. Keeping up the appearance.

Looking up at the clock, you realize it is now late into the night. The work took quite a while. You never heard your dad come home, either. You can assume he's working extra overtime, but he would usually call you before that.

> Go to Sleep

Deciding it's best to get some shut eye, you lie down in bed. If you're dads not here in the morning, you'll call him then. You close your eyes, and fall asleep.

Morning comes, light leaking into your bedroom, waking you from your sleep. You look at the clock, just past seven, class starts at eight. You have some time, it's not very far. You stand up, get dressed, and get your things together, before going to check if your dad is home. You can hear the television as you approach your door, and come into the living room to see your father passed out on the couch, a half empty beer spilled on the coffee table. His snores are muffled by the news playing quietly beside him. You walk into the kitchen and grab yourself an apple, taking a huge bite out of it and sitting down at the table.

The reporter is beside multiple police officers, with a crowd of people surrounding them. It looks like another early fight between Captain Genesis and Professor Doomsday is going on. She says that they are having an all out brawl on the outskirts of town, and Doomsday brought his 'big guns'. The camera zooms out over the crowd, and way off in the distance, a large mechanical spider is smashing through some empty warehouses, Doomsday riding on top. At this point, you stop paying attention to the reporter, as you notice in the crowd behind them Trent and Jake, cheering on the Captain. You shut off the TV, and walk towards the door.

You look back down at your dad, his body sprawled over the couch, the stench of beer oozing from his lips. You can't just leave him like this. Throwing his limp arm over his shoulder, you grab his legs, and lift. He's quite heavy, but you manage to get him in the air. Moving with him proves much more difficult, as you stumble down the hall. You push through his door, and place him on his tiny single sized mattress, and spend a moment catching your breath, before pulling his blanket up over him. He looks much more comfortable now, as he mumbles, "I love you, son," before his snoring returns.

With that taken care of, what do you do now?

You can miss another day of school, at the least be late. You head out the door, the bright sun burning your vision. You lower you head, and start heading off to where the battle is taking place. It shouldn't be too long until your there, and if you only stop by briefly, you could make it to school before lunch ends. Following the traffic, you finally see the crowd of people up ahead. A line of police cars are keeping them from getting too close to the conflict.

The giant mechanical spider is off in the distance, firing missiles and bullets at Captain Genesis, who is maneuvering around them. From here, it's difficult to see, but it isn't that important to you to begin with. With the crowd so dense, you can't see Trent or Jake, assuming they're still here. What are you planning to do?

You've seen enough. This is fake, and you know it. Trent and Jake don't seem to be here, so there's really no other purpose to be here. The sound of gunfire in the distance fades as you walk away, until you hear the crowd cheer. It fades as you get further and further, until you are far enough away that there is nothing but the silence, broken by the occasional car. You're school isn't far to far, maybe another half an hour by foot. The sun glares down at you, and gleams off the windows of the various shops beside you.

A man bursts out of a small thrift shop, donning a white raggedy coat, gas mask, and thick rubber gloves and military boots. In his arms, he's carrying a microwave, a coathanger, and various electronic parts. He doesn't seem to be paying much attention, as he slams directly into you, his pile of things clattering on the ground, you and him with it. He, without a word, gets on his knees, and starts grabbing up the various parts.

You stand up, seeing this strange man scrambling for his presumably stolen goods. You consider ignoring him, but make the split decision to help this guy out. You throw up your hood, and start picking up various scattered parts. In the brief moment, you recognize wires, paperclips, and a damaged motherboard. The man stands up, and you hand him the various parts. He nods at you in recognition, and you can almost feel a smile from underneath.

The door once again opens as a large man in a button-up and khakis runs out, cellphone up against his ear. "I'm calling the police, you hear me!" He shouts at the man, who darts off past the building, and down through a nearby alley. What do you do?

Hesitantly, you bolt down the same alley, trying your best to catch up with the man. He turns a corner, and you follow suit. Finally, you reach him as he's catching his breath. You aren't the most fit, but still more so than this guy.

Walking up to the man, you gesture towards the pile of various things he has. "Seems like a waste of stuff to steal," you say, getting closer. He seems to have caught his breath.

"Well, yeah, you think that," his voice has an echo like quality from underneath the mask, "But this is all I need to build a remote detonated explosive, and the Police aren't going to come after a guy of stole seven dollars worth of goods."

"That make sense," you respond. "But why do you need a bomb?"

"How is that of any importance to you?" he says, stepping back and turning slightly.

"Just making small talk," you chuckle. He chuckles back, half-heatedly.

"I have to go, but thanks for the help," he mumbles. He fidgets a little, and starts walking off down another alley.

"Okay, See you around. Try not to bomb my school." He looks over at you, almost skeptically, but it's hard to tell underneath that gas mask. You start navigating the alleys yourself, and make your way to school.

As you make your way into the halls, you hear the lunch bell ring, and the halls fill up. You make it before the next class started, lucky you. Moving through the crowds, it only takes a moment for you to get into the natural flow of things. Stop by your locker, get your books, move with the nameless faces until you reach the appropriate door, come in, and sit in the back, silently. Your math teacher, Mr. Anderson, is rather large, balding, but has a heavy beard. He begins pointing at formulas and equations, giving examples and answering questions. Worksheets are passed out, you fill it out, and the monotony sets in.

Quietly, you go about finishing the day, discreetly handing in all the missed work over the past month. All the teachers seem to agree, "I didn't even know you were gone." The final bell has rung, and you move out the large front doors with the ocean of other students. You can see Trent over by the parking lot, a large group of people gathered around, gossiping and laughing. Jake is with them, chattering away.

Doing your best to ignore them, you start walking into town, towards those alleys you met the strange man earlier. You decide it would be good to swipe a printer cartridge on your way out there, practice in controlling the ink in itself. With that, you throw up your hood, and start looking around some shops.

It doesn't take very long, and it isn't very difficult, to get yourself that small amount of ink. A few cartridges rest in various pockets of your backpack, ready for you to draw from them. Navigating your way around the alleys, you get to a point where you know you saw the man from earlier, that is also a bit out of the way. Around you there are some scattered bits of trash, and a drain pipe that leads to the roof of this building, which you believe to be a warehouse. You look around, making sure you are along, and start training.

You sit yourself down, and look around you. You already have strength and finesse in your powers. Now you need to find a way to really utilize it. The Ink didn't keep the entire media in his hand with weapons. He did it in secret for years. You need to be crafty, clever. You need to always be in control.

Rats scuttle among the trash heaps, burying themselves into holes in the wall. You will grab, ensnare one, keep it on a leash. Then maybe see what you can do with it then.

You pull the ink out of the cartridge, forming a small rope out of the shiny black substance. You whip it about for a moment, before focusing our concentration. It splits into five ends, resembling a small hand. You stare down one of the rodents, its fur ragged and torn. You focus on it, the conjured ink grasping at it. It attempts to bolt away, but it is already grasped. You raise it into the air, watching as it attempts to break free.

You smirk down at it, as the ink soaks into its fur and skin, blackening it, looking like ash. Through the ink, you can feel it's tiny heartbeat, racing. You attempt to get the ink deeper, soaking it into the muscles, and the bloodstream. Its color returns slightly, as the substance colors it deep inside it. You feel its heart racing faster and faster as pain rushes through its body.

It still floats, the ink keeping it elevated. You lower it to the ground. It is so small and weak. You are in complete control of it. You move it around, limb and limb, making it walk. It's clumsy, but that's just because you need practice.

Finally, you make your way to the stone steps in front of your complex. You sit down, and force the rat to climb up beside you. Checking both ends of the street, you are sure you are alone. And now, the next phase of the test. It will require extreme precision if you don't want to kill this thing.

With immense concentration, you slowly separate ink from the Rats body, oozing out from in skin, through its fur, and into the air. The process takes a full five minutes of pure mental focus, but you manage to get the last drop of ink out of the rat. It seems frozen in place, like a statue, or merely paralyzed. After a moment, it begins to look around, sniffing at the ground, and then at you, before scuttling off. Proud of yourself, you pull the ink back into it's cartridge, and head up the stairs to your apartment.

You open the doors, expecting to be greeted by your father, only to find the apartment, yet again, empty. He must be working late again tonight. So, you go off to your room, and sit at your desk. Controlling the Rat was easier than you thought. Not easy, mind you, just not superbly difficult. Maybe you could do so on a person. Finding a test subject would be the hardest part, you imagine.

What do you decide to do now?

Turn on the TV. We're a budding supervillan who just made a significant discovery with our powers, and had a run-in with another villain. We're due for some plot.

Next time, Trent, next time. Muahahahahaha.
>[x] Turn on the TV
Bomberman has yet to show.

Do we have internet? If so: search for harmless ink. Ink meant for children to play with might not be poisonous. If we find something like that, plan puppetmaster has my approval.

You think back to the man you met earlier today. The bomber guy. He said he was going to make a bomb using some damaged computer parts, a microwave, and a coathanger, which you helped him steal. Maybe he's already made a move. If he did, their might be something about it on the news. You search for the remote, and turn on the small one at the head of your desk. You flip through channels a bit, until the familiar face of the female reporter you so often see lights up the screen. Waiting for a few minutes, something of interest finally comes up.

"In other news, a bomb went off inside the local Bestbuy, killing seven people, and harming dozens. Not one person saw the assailant, but after the smoke cleared, many things were found missing, including computers, televisions, and game consoles. It is unsure how much of what was stolen, and as of now, police have no suspects. Many are putting blame on Professor Doomsday for this crime, though now evidence for his involvement can be found."

Smiling to yourself, you feel somewhat proud of the guy. You barely know him, but he is already serving as an inspiration to you. Feeling hopeful that you come across him again, you shut off the TV, and consider maybe putting your powers to the test soon.

So, I know it's a little early, but it looks like I'm ending here. I'll stick around for a bit to answer questions, thanks for playing with me today, guys.

Oh, and here's the twitter I'll be using sometimes maybe. I'll run again next week, same day, same time.

Awesome thread today OP.
>>
You gonna archive this, Inky?
>>
>>32335099
In the future would it be possible to run more than once a week or is it simply not possible?
>>
>>32335099
Would have hoped for more experimenting/research, but there is always next week. Thanks for running!
>>
>>32335099
Yeah, it's been real fun.
Hope to see you next week.
>>
>>32335161
Yeah, I'm doing that now

>>32335164
I would love to run more than once a week, but my schedule won't really allow it. I'll let people know if it opens up.

>>32335160
>>32335174
Thanks, I appreciate the kind words.

You better.

I love this Quest.
>>
>>32335198
Ah, ok have a good night

So we need a new Ink related villain name - something refined and not too outlandish. Suggestions? My vote is Blot.
>>
>>32335219
What this guy says.
We will find you if you don't.
And we'll politely ask you to free up a little time until you can't STAND it anymore.
>>
>>32335229

Masi?

I'm taking things from this wiki page.

I fear our link to ink-based powers is too clear. How about we pretend we have a different set of powers? Controlling people and calling ourselves "The Puppeteer" or using controlled animals could go a long way to mask our identity.
>>
>>32335229
I suggested ink blot in the first thread.
Issue it that rorschach's already got that spot.

Speaking of which, any possibility of dc/marvel heroes becoming canon?
>>
>>32335264
Yeah, this was a big thing we'd been discussing.

Get the tattoos and shit, for flight and super strength. Make people think we're a superman type.
>>
>>32335264
What he said, that one guy already knows that we have ink powers, and he sounds popular enough to get some people together and lynch us
>>
>>32335219
>>32335244

I really would, but I work full time, am working on some other projects, and run one IRL game and am playing in another IRL game. But if something drops, I would jump on that wagon.

>>32335269
None. I was hoping to stick this in more of a unique game world. I apologize if you were hoping for that.
>>
>>32335292
Aye, that might be another way. We could even have multiple personae, if we do it right. More experimenting needs to be done.

>>32335338
Background question: Does our character know whether powers can expand with training? For example, could we expand our ability to control modern ink to include more ink-like substances, if it doesn't include them already?
>>
>>32335405
You don't know, but it's entirely possible.
