Character sheet: http://pastebin.com/M4DJrF1v Micheal (please read, new info!)

You resolve to ask Gina about fighting, after you get dressed and washed. You are a prince, after all. You make your way about the castle, and finally find her eating a meal of greasy meat. What is it with warrior women and this stuff? You sit across from her, and she swallows the meat to look across at you.

"Let me guess, you want to learn how to fight your father?" she asks. "Because you've been really distant these past few days... No, this whole week."

You find yourself fidgeting, and she grins wider. Why do you get the feeling she knows the real reason you're so full of nerves? After all...

>I'm worried I'll lose to my father...
>I'm worried I won't be able to, uh, perform for Annelin.
>I'm frightened someone will get hurt while they're overseas.
>The Lord of Lords... he scares me.
>>
All four of those are accurate as hell.

But Michael would really only have reason to confess the First and fourth.

"I'm worried about losing to my father, yes." you admit. "I don't know who would rule in my place, or if..." you find yourself sighing. "Or if I kill him, on accident."

There, you said it. You've had the nightmares, of father dying from a wound you made. Of being left /truly/ alone, even if for a few days or nights, even with Annelin there, no family... You shiver.

"You think..." Gina raises an eyebrow, "That you can actually kill your father in a fight?"

"Not on purpose."

"But you're also scared you'll lose to him."

A nod, and she mutters something in Ogre. "You're still a bit of a fool boy, you know. You've gotten fairly good. Almost as good as your father. But I'm a terrible trainer. I'm as likely to break your bones as your bad habits."

>What bad habits?

"...What bad habits?" you ask, almost indignant.

"You're incatious. You overstep, a lot. You rely far too much on your speed, trying to get it to carry you through the fight rather than finding enemy weakness or opening. You are preoccupied." she says, "With a lot of things."

You huff.
"I still don't see why you can't train me. You're pretty gentle with Ja'al, I'm sure."

Her eyes go wide, and you swear her hair puffs out a little as her face flushes.
"Well, that's... That's different. Very different." she grumbles. "E-entirely different. When I hit someone, they stay hit. Discipline is not my strong suit."

>But you're good at analyzing, it sounds like.

"It's... experience. I've learned a lot from my time at your father's side. Bodyguard work is as much about who you don't engage as it is about who you do - can your charge handle this threat or that one? Can the threat reach them by the time you deal with this other threat? How much time do I have to take care of that? Examination and analysis..." she sighs. "Those have kept your father alive so much longer than any boulder I could toss, any hammer I could use. But in seriousness - we can't spar. If we do, I cannot prevent myself from bringing you harm."

>That's fine.

But with two... With two you'll fail. You'll get hurt. And that'll make the fight harder. Easier to slip, easier to fail, again and again. Protect yourself. Be more defensive, less focused. Widen."

She leans back.
"It's like you think there should be someone there all the time, Micheal. And that might not be the case."

The stiffness slides in as Ja'al arrives.

"...Ah. You've some limited knowledge of him, then..." he says pulling out a book, "I looked up his name. Harumda is actually a legendary figure from the Southland tribes - a powerful, intelligent warlord who united his people through diplomacy, combat, and personal strength. He died..." he leans forward, "At the hands of assassins from a white and gold robed cult. Legends say the poison sapped away his arms and legs, and the cult slaughtered his family before him. That his heart continued to beat until a horse stamped it into the dusty earth, such was his impotent fury."

You're lead to the room, where the summoning circle holds a robed figure.

"Ah, you're here... Then Harumda can - augh... A moment, please..." the robed figure rises, removing the purple garment. Garibaldi is a slim, cartoonishly slender man, with a thin, serious face. His face shifts, warps, and his eye turns a bright yellow, a sphere of gold, the skin around it turning to stone.

"Nnnf. Cramped as fuck in here... You the kid?" the figure asks, pointing. Formal armor that Garibaldi wore shifts, bright red and black.

"Elucidate, sir."

"Elucidate you on matters, a bit." Harumda says. "Things are getting to the wire, and now I've got nothing to risk - but time is of the essence, especially if I'm to tell you how shit's going down. The closer you are, the better I'll be able to explain this - and the more I can help you out."

These are the valid points.
You sussed out enough for a reward! Writing now.
>>
You sit and think for a moment, and Ja'al tells you what he's heard from Annelin.

"...So." you say, "The lord of Lords, my... Great grandfather, I think... is not happy with his position in the Hells." you say, standing up. "He wants back in position here on the material plane, the Prime, the land of the living. In order to reach this goal, he has subverted most of the tribes to this end, and has used some sort of conspiracy with Law to land agents here to do his work. For one reason or another, the dieties, save Raven, will not stop him. For some reason or another, the same deal that prevents him from walking this earth, also restricts her."

Harumda, possessing Garibaldi, leans forward.
"That leaves two questions." Harumda says with a grin. "One." he holds up a finger. "How is the Lord of Lords going to get here without a summoner? The energy to pull him here would be massive. And two." he holds up two fingers, "And here's the big one: What does Law have to gain?"

"...If it's my great grandfather, then... He would unite humanity again. Likely using the same power he had back then."

"And...?"

"...Oh, Law."
He would slaughter all the critters. Armed with a demon army, and all of the sizable population of Central, with its now vast navy, and large armies... "He'd wipe out all the critters. And with them..."

"Go on, boy."

"And with them, all their gods. The demons are the responsibility of Law. But how would he get here?"
Harumda grins wide.
"Well, you need to be summoned. Or you possess a native. But there's no one here close enough to him. In fact, his own lineage prevents his return, since parts of his old soul linger here. But he's building something from hexed limbs." Harumda leans forward. "And then, when your father is dead, in a tragic dueling accident, and you get assassinated... He walks right in, plops his ass on the throne, and takes over the fucking world."

"And I stop this how?"

"You have the info, blueblood. You have the resources."

>>32320114
Are we supposed to figure this out now?

Because I'm not sure about that happening.

Ideally, we could have Law/the Old King overstep his boundaries to the point where the other deities are allowed to intervene, but I think Law's too old and tricky to do such a thing, unless he thinks he's already won.

And tricking him in such a manner is too risky to attempt.

>Ideally, we could have Law/the Old King overstep his boundaries to the point where the other deities are allowed to intervene
problem is we've no idea what those boundaries are and when the others can slap his shit, and finding out what those boundaries are is probably not healthy for us
>>
>>32320484
That's not gonna happen. Maybe early in the quest, if we had gone after him instead of Michael, but no.

What we need to do is make sure our dad doesn't kill himself anytime soon.

But that's only a stopgap measure, we need to somehow dismantle the Lord of Lord's power base.

Karl might help, since he served with the LoL back when he was a man. And is probably pretty jaded about the whole thing.

Well, no, all this shit is going down near and around the duel. This is all planning.

"So we need to prevent the accident at the duel, and my own death." you say to Harumda, "And inform the other gods of this conspiracy, especially Clown."

"Very good." Harumda nods approvingly. "I know for a fact there is one last thing. Your mother didn't die of a mortal curse."

"...What?"

"If she had, she wouldn't have shown up among the Beasts." Harumda says, leaning back. "The cursed are sent among the Lost, to forever wander, until the terms of the curse wears out. Something else killed her. She was... Targeted. Whether it was for her beliefs, or something she knew or told you..." Harumda shrugs. "So it was demonic in nature, not just to kill her, but to send her among the beasts while she still wished for a family. Thus robbing her of the ability to tell you, once she passed - you can't summon her and ask. But I will give you something to help."

He leans forward, reaching into nowhere, and opens the back of the chair - that's the only way to describe what he's doing - reaching into the back deeply. "Come on... This." he tosses out a longsword, which sticks against the barrier he's inside. The blade hums with strange magic.

"This information, this weapon, and this kick in the pants, is all I have for you. Find out what she knew. Find allies among the gods. Consoladate and prepare." Harumda grins.

"And then kill Law for me. He's had it a long time coming."

Harumda vanishes, the sword clattering to the ground.

You have no idea what to do or where to even start.
