No, because we're not rampaging around and don't pose an obvious danger, and countermeasures powerful enough to harm/restrain giant monsters are very expensive and won't be used lightly, in the same way people won't drop a nuke in their own country unless it's absolutely necessary. Not to mention if they're designed for giants, they might not even be able to use them on us, as we're still human sized.

Diving straight down past swiping claws, you slam your open hands wide into either side of the bleeding wound in the creature’s shoulder carried by natural momentum and directed gravity. Pulling wide on either side of the wide pierced gash you let more gore spill around you, cracks begin to form on the surrounding sections of it’s armor plating. Plunging your head forward you gnash your teeth and tear a chunk from it’s flesh. The bloody mess melts against your tongue and gives you a tingle of conductive energy.

This feeling, you can taste the errant bits of it’s bonded colonies and meat slide down your throat, not enough to know it’s powers but enough to give you a quick boost. Your hunger is piqued, and you wouldn’t mind enjoying more of this subject’s “raw materials” either. It isn’t human, just a beast. No moral dilemma. Besides, it was going to try and eat you.

Still is. It’s body shudders and you leap back just in time, laughing and covered in it’s metal heavy blood. It’s mass expands out as it draws a deep and rushing swallow of air before surging forward to try and pin you beneath it’s bulk. Electricity crackles along it’s frame. That’s right, you remember when you witnessed it at sea, swallowing air so it could float despite it’s shell. Who knew it could try to weaponize that ability. Your tendrils snag each colony and draw them down their length into you. They converge upon your core and you learn where you can allocate them. As you make your decisions and your feel the beginnings of changes overtake your body, the first peppering of bullets falls upon the the half submerged shell beyond the succulent meat your extended form is threaded through.

The process of consuming the heavy metal nanites distracting you from noticing they had begun to open fire. Radio chatter crossing your senses, blurry and difficult to hear. It isn’t much of a problem as you hear the cockpit quite clearly. They’re testing the creature to see if it’s moving. They have no confirmation on what happened, no idea how this monster died.

Whoever was on the bridge saw the initial exchange before you made them want to leave and stop paying attention to you. You’ve no idea what the coast guard helicopters were able to see.

You shiver, not from the cold water filling what was once a warm space, it feels good. Integrating these nano machine colonies feels good, it makes you feel more. Your body twists and surges as you’ve drained the beast of the source of it’s power and leave it as rapidly cooling meat, withdrawing your tendrils.

Meat. Muscle. Sinew. Bone. Cartilage. Nails. Teeth. Shell. Blood. Marrow.

Leave it sit much longer and it might start to brine.

Writing

With snap you take another savory taste of you kill, a memento and snack to curb the gnawing sensation of want. If you stay here, you’ll risk exposure, and as much as you’d like to exalt in the attention your flawless form would garner in your tight second skin it would be better not to make anymore of a show. Folding your wings close to your body, you push your way through the flesh and shell and head into the water.

The sea cleanses you of blood, and you swim south for a time before breaking the surface and staying low in quick bursts from cover until you return to the hotel. Waiting a moment for the roof to clear out, you touch down and return to your hidden clothes. The changes running through your systems settle and you feel exceptionally empty.

Compressing back to the height and dimensions you left this roof with earlier you stride down the many flights of stairs. The lobby is rife with activity, and no sooner than you exit the stairwell do you see Kentaro looking calmly pleased with himself.
