You are Michael Hogelin, a twenty-two year old college student and an inexperienced metahuman 'gifted' with electrokinesis. You've finally managed to get some rest, after making some exhausting calls to your family and checking in with work, it's nearly two o'clock and you expect that Argonza is going to be home soon.

A blast of cold air assaults you as you open up the fridge in Kaitlin's apartment and glance around curiously before reaching in and grabbing a couple of slices of cheese and the package of hard salami. You shut the door and make your way back to the counter, dropping your supplies on the marble along with the loaf of wheat bread already there. You briefly consider going back and grabbing the mayo from the fridge before deciding against it, you're really not that big of a fan of condiments in the first place and the only other 'sandwich stuff' she has in there is that which is most unholy...mustard.

With the most important decision of the day made, you slap together your lunch and clean up after yourself, making sure to grab a bottle of water from the fridge when you put the salami back. You haven't drank tap-water since before you heard about the crazy bastard who put some kind of mutagenic poison in the water that was supposed to kill all the metahumans in the city or whatever. You're really not sure what the game-plan for him was, but you realize now just how big of a bullet you dodged there.

You take a bite of your sandwich while wandering back into the living room and are about to sit down when the door to the apartment bursts open, making you jump a little bit and drop the bottle of water in the process. Your initial panic evaporates when you realize that it's just Argonza. "Hey, Kaitlin, how's yo-"

Before you can finish your sentence the heroine has hurried over to you and grabbed your hand in a tight grip, "We've got to get you out of those clothes." She tells you quickly as she effortlessly pulls you towards her bedroom, nearly yanking your arm from it's socket in the process.

You stare at her wide-eyed for a few moments as you stumble along after her, "W-what?"
(1/2)
>>
The heroine doesn't stop for a second as she throws open the door to her bedroom and drags you inside, "Primus is coming to check my apartment, they think I'm hiding you so that you won't have to register." She finally explains as the two of you come to a stop in front of the door leading out onto her balcony. "You either need to get dressed and act like you just got here as I did or you need to get out there and hide so that they can't find you."

Your face pales slightly at the revelation, though before you can say anything else she waves you off, "Look, it's not that big of a deal, I kind of expected it, and as long as you don't get yourself caught right now they'll probably drop it. They're always watching my place anyways, and they don't know for sure who you are or what you look like yet, so they'll probably just assume you're my boyfriend or something." She tells you, before snatching the sandwich from your grip and taking a bite of it, her nose crinkling a bit at the taste. "Ugh, seriously? Where's the mustard?"

"It's in the fridge?" You reply incredulously, "How are you so calm about this? You've got people coming to search your house for me!"

She shrugs in response, her face still displaying her displeasure at your sandwich making skills as she answers, "Like I said, it's a normal thing for me. They usually keep pretty good surveillance on me, or at least they think they do. It doesn't do them much good when I know about it and can just avoid it when I don't want to deal with it. That's why we're in my room right now, unless you've bugged it since I've been gone it's safe for us to talk in. Now, either get rid of those clothes or get outside, Julio."
(2/3 actually.)
>>
You watch her as she turns on her heel and walks out of the room, stopping only to open up the dryer and toss your clean clothes at you, before pulling the door shut and cutting of your view of her. Despite the seriousness of the situation, you feel a little just a little surreal at the moment, largely do to her nonchalant attitude about it. At any rate, it looks like you need to either get moving or get dressed. If you just put your clothes on and get out there then you might be able to just play yourself off as Kaitlin's friend or something, though being face-to-face with Primus agents, or whoever's coming, makes you a bit nervous. Of course you could just get out there on the balcony and hope that they don't bother to search it, after all Argonza seems to be pretty confident that they won't find you out there.

What are you going to do?

It takes you a second to recover from the shock of the situation, but as your gaze travels down to the clothes in your hands you manage to snap yourself out of it and throw them onto the bed as you strip off your borrowed pajamas. As soon as you've pulled your own jeans and shirt back on, as well as the shoes and socks for good measure, you walk out of your host's room, glancing around in an attempt to find her. It doesn't take you long to see her sitting back on the couch, her jacket tossed over the back of the recliner again and her feet propped up on the coffee table as she munches on your sandwich.

As you approach her you notice that, while the TV is on and the news is playing, her attention as actually directed towards your goggles, a somewhat impressed look dominating her face as she turns them over in her free hand, though she does look up at you when you approach her. "Hey, good to see you managed not to take forever. You'd be a pretty poor superhero if it took you half an hour to get dressed." She says, directing a teasing smile at you while you roll your eyes.

"I wouldn't promise that I'd make a good superhero anyways." You reply, simply as you sit down on the couch next to her, "I'm too short, aren't I? I mean five-foot, six guys don't exactly cut a an imposing figure, do we?"

Kaitlin lets out a small laugh at that, shaking her head in the process, "You might be surprised, one of the most intimidating heroes I've ever met just barely came up to my shoulder while I'm in heels. It's more about how you carry yourself than anything, though I will admit that being tall does help." She says with a grin, before waving the goggles at you, "I couldn't help but notice these out here. They're pretty cool, a little bit basic, but still it's more than a lot of people ever get to see. Where'd you get them?"

You're not really sure whether to be proud of the complement or a offended at the idea that she thought you went out and bought them or something. "I made them." You answer pointedly, not missing the surprised looks that flashes across her face.

"You made them?" She asks incredulously, seeming to look at you in a new light as you nod your head.

"Yeah. Well, kind of, anyways. I didn't go and make the actual goggles, obviously, but I added all the tech to them." You explain, before motioning to the ruined battery sitting a few inches away from her feet, "Unfortunately it doesn't look like the battery can handle the...well, you know, but it looks like I can power them myself. Not really sure how it works, to be honest, I just know that it does."

She lets out a small hum of surprise before nodding, looking like she's about to ask you something until a loud knock rings out from the door. An annoyed look washes over her face at the interruption as she lets out a sigh and hands you the goggles, "Hide those somewhere, we don't need them seeing them. I doubt they'll recognize them, but it's better to be safe than sorry." She mutters to you, before walking over to the door while you walk into the kitchen and hide them in the towel drawer.

"Hey guys, how's it going?" You hear her say as she opens up the door casually while you walk back out into the living room, just in time to see a man and a woman in similar suits to hers walk into the apartment.

The man shrugs easily at her while the woman directs her gaze at you, "Not much, really. Sorry about this, Kate, but you know how the brass is about this kind of stuff. I promise that we'll be out of your hair here soon."
(2/3)
>>
Your host just waves him off, rolling her eyes as she takes a bite from the sandwich, "Ah, no big deal. Like I said, you can search the place for the guy. I only took him away from the cops because at the time he wasn't exactly in a great state of mind...he told me that he was gonna register once things had calmed down for him. I'm sure he'll pop up here soon, I mean it hasn't even been a day since his apartment burnt down, we might want to give him a bit of slack or he could get the wrong idea." She replies, before waving them the rest of the way in and closing the door, before motioning to you, "By the way, guys, this is my friend, Julio. He got here just before you guys did, I figured that if this wasn't gonna take long then he could just stick around until you were done."

The male agent just shrugs again, while the woman raises a skeptical eyebrow at the name, much as Argonza did when you 'introduced' yourself. "Julio? You can't be serious..."

You manage to keep yourself calm, for the moment anyways, at the agent's disbelief...honestly you can't believe Kaitlin is serious yourself...in fact she's probably not, though you're not really sure how to react to that without just telling them who you actually are, or at least your name anyways. You guess you could lie and come up with another name entirely, though with them actually being serious here it may not be a good idea to do that unless you're planning on sticking with your story.

You adopt an awkward smile and extend a hand towards her, "Oh, uh...yeah, Julio Gonzales." You say weakly as she accepts your handshake, though her disbelief has only seemed to grow deeper with your confirmation.

"If you say so. My name is Detective Jenning and, and this is my partner, Detective Daniels." She replies coolly, motioning towards the man who was previously talking with your host. Before letting go of your hand as her partner approaches you, seeming a tiny bit less friendly than he was when he first arrived.

"Nice to meet you, Mister Gonzales. If you don't mind me asking, how did you meet Kate? I don't think I remember hearing her talk about you, and normally she can't shut about her friends."

You wince slightly at the question, drawing a sharper gaze from both the detectives as you do so. While you figure it may be best to try and back out of your lie now, you're afraid it might set off more alarms with them if you do so...if that's even possible. But then again, it's clear that they aren't likely to believe a word you say right now anyways, if you keep this up. Over their shoulders you can see Argonza looking at you incredulously, seeming unsure whether or not she should jump into the conversation or not, though if she does then you have absolutely no clue what she might say to try and convince them of your story.

>Come clean about your name, but pass it off as a joke. They probably won't be particularly amused, but at least it would just make you look like an idiot, instead of an incompetent idiot with something to hide.

Daniels looks at you a bit more carefully as you let out a slightly nervous chuckle, "Is something wrong, Julio?"

You shake your head, rubbing the back of your neck in embarrassment as the two of you release each others' hands, "Ah, no not really. Um, my name's actually Mike, by the way. Sorry about that, it's just kind of a stupid joke between the two of us..." You mutter, doing your best to act embarrassed...not that you have to dig particularly deep to do so.

Jennings rolls her eyes at the explanation, but seems to buy it, at least more than the idea that your name is actually Julio, "Figures...you definitely know how to pick them, Argonza." She says sarcastically as she turns her attention back towards the heroine, though your newest 'friend' certainly hasn't dropped the subject yet.

"Really? How'd that start out? I'm sure it's an interesting story." He asks, apparently genuinely interested in the joke, or at least he feigns it pretty well.

Despite the attention being brought back on to you, you manage to shove your nervousness back down enough to force a somewhat convincing smile onto your face, "Well, uh...honestly it's kind of embarrassing, but that's actually what I told her my name was when we first met." You admit, not missing the relieved look on Kaitlin's face as you manage to actually speak up without shooting yourself in the foot, "I'm not exactly what you'd call good at talking to new people, and I kind of freaked out when she decided that she was just going to start talking to me in the bookstore."

Both agents eye you skeptically for a moment before seeming to remember how you reacted to meeting them and apparently buying the story. "Yeah...that sounds like her, actually." Daniels replies, before following his partners lead in turning back to Argonza. "Well, might as well take a quick look around and then we'll get out of your guys' hair."
(1/2 or 3)
>>
It feels almost like a massive weight has lifted off your shoulders as Kaitlin nods and waves for them to follow her, "Alright, well feel free to check around the house. Like I said before, check wherever you want, just make sure to clean up after yourselves if you make a mess." She responds, opening up her arms as if to gesture at the apartment in full, before walking back over to the couch and dropping down onto it.

Jennings raises an eyebrow at her curiously, "You're not going to show us around?"

The heroine shakes her head lazily, "Nah, Zack knows his way around. Don't you Zack?" She says easily, before patting the spot next to her on the couch, "Why don't you just sit down and relax, Mike? They'll be finished here soon and then we can head out, if you want."

You spare a quick glance at the agents as Daniels leads the way into her bedroom before hesitantly taking her advice and sitting down next to her, not quite sure what to do with yourself while you wait. Obviously you can't talk about your powers or anything, and it'd probably be best not to mention the fire at the moment either, though you could try to strike up a conversation with her about something else if you want. You guess you could ask if she wants to watch TV or talk about something herself...of course considering that she ate your lunch you could just say screw it go make yourself another sandwich. Either way, anything is probably be better than sitting there waiting for them to finish ransacking her place at least.

An awkward silence falls over the room like a thick blanket as the two of you sit on the couch, waiting for the two agents to finish their search. Finally it's broken as your eyes land on the small piece of sandwich left in Kaitlin's hand, prompting an embarrassingly loud growl from your stomach.

Argonza blinks in surprise at you, before letting out a small laugh when you let out a huff and push yourself up off the couch. "Well, I guess I'll make myself another sandwich then, since you stole my last one." You grumble at her, unsurprised to see her grin at you and follow your lead after popping the last bite of your stolen lunch into her mouth.

"Go right ahead, you're more than welcome to whatever's in the kitchen." She replies happily, even as she opens up the refrigerator herself and grabs the same supplies you did, with the addition of the mustard, "I figure I'll make another one myself, since I haven't really eaten much today either."

"Okay." You respond with a shrug at the information, not really sure how to respond beyond that, before grabbing a couple more pieces of bread from the loaf, followed closely by her. "So...obviously you've got an...interesting job, right?" You say while watching her squirt a particularly large amount of mustard on top of her salami.

The heroine lets out a faint hum in response before nodding, "Sometimes, sure. I mean obviously I'm kept pretty busy with the way things are, both here in MC and in other parts of the country. "Actually, I just got to go to Canada a couple weeks ago...they needed help with some weird magic snowstorm. To be honest that's not really my deal, I'm not sure why they didn't ask Witchcraft or someone like that to go, but it was a nice trip if you can ignore the zombies and the angry totem spirits and all that."
(1/2)
Taking a quick bathroom break, won't be too long.
>>
You raise an eyebrow at the response, "Magic? You honestly expect me to believe that?" You ask skeptically, though you're surprised to see her just roll her eyes at you rather than admit to making a joke.

"Yeah, I do. It makes about as much sense as anything else in this crazy world, doesn't it? Yeah, we're able to isolate and observe the particular genes that allow certain people be born with super powers but we don't really know how it works beyond that. I mean, can you honestly give me a good explanation as to how somebody with say, I don't know...how about the ability to control lightning, anyways can you really tell me how they don't just electrocute themselves when they go meta?" She asks, looking at you pointedly as she does so, until you given in and shake your head.

"No, not really..." You reply, before looking at her incredulously, "But you're seriously telling me that magic actually exists? How come I haven't heard about it before? We've got plenty of super heroes running around here, surely one of them uses it."

"Well, yeah, there's plenty of them that can control magic. They're just usually pretty quiet about it...really that usually goes for the bad guys too. The thing is that when you actually get into it using magic opens up a pretty big can of worms, mostly just because of how badly things can go wrong if you abuse it, or even if you just make a mistake." She explains while offering you the bottle of mustard, which you wholeheartedly decline, before continuing, "It's not like it's actually a secret or anything, we just don't bother to really announce it's presence to people unless it's absolutely necessary. If you were living in West Side then you probably wouldn't be all that surprised to hear about it...a lot of the magic based heroes hang out around Little China and, as much as I hate to admit it, we've got a bit of a problem with demon summoners trying to start a war with the new purple gang."

How? Are they just sending demons to wiggle their asses at the purple gang?
>>
You start to take a bite from your sandwich as she puts the meat back in the fridge, only to stop at the last part of her explanation, "Woah, wait, demons? Like the whole fire and brimstone and all that crap?"

"Eh, some of them, yeah. I don't deal with them very much, and to be honest I'm really glad that I don't have to. They're dangerous and they're mean...for the most part we let the magic users deal with them. Obviously we have to get involved sometimes too, and we're more than capable, but at the end of the day you want the people with the right tools and the right kind of experience to do the job. Same reason why we don't usually send wizards into burning buildings, gang fights, or war zones without back up."

"Okay...so here's another stupid question then. If these guys can summon demons, then how the hell are they 'trying' to start a war against the purple gang? I mean I know those assholes have a lot of power but..."

Apparently it's her turn to look at you skeptically before shaking her head, "The purple gang is plenty powerful on their own, Mike. I don't know the numbers for sure but they've got a pretty good amount of low-leveled metas within their ranks, and a lot of them are psionics, which give them an even bigger edge on other people with super powers. It doesn't matter what kind of super powers you've got if they take control of your mind. Besides, demons aren't just dangerous to us...they fail to get full control over the demons just as often as they succeed at summoning them. It doesn't usually turn out pretty for them when that happens."

You guess that kind of makes sense, though you still have to question exactly why exactly both groups haven't been forced out of the city by now...you almost have to wonder if it's just because they're based out of West Side instead of being on the 'good' side of the city, though you ultimately decide to drop the question in favor of another one. "So...on a kind of related note, can just anybody use magic?
3/4
>>
She shakes her head, "No, not really. I mean, you might be able to pull off a few tricks here and there, but for the most part it either takes somebody with family ties to some kind of magical being, undergoing a pretty brutal ritual, or sometimes people are just...born with it. I know there's a few other ways, but I don't really know what they are. To be honest, I'm not really that much of a fan of it. Like I said, it's dangerous and if I can avoid dealing with it all then I will." She replies, looking like she's about to say something else only to be interrupted by Daniels and Jenning reappearing from wherever they were looking for stuff before.

"I hope we're not interrupting anything important," Jennings butts in, sounding for all the world as if she couldn't actually care if she were bothering the two of you, "But we're done here."

Kaitlin nods approvingly, "Awesome, I assume everything's alright then? Didn't find anything strange did you?"

Daniels shakes his head slowly, "Aside from your...instruments, no, we didn't find anything out of the ordinary." He responds easily, "I'd recommend putting those away next time you're going to have an inspection, however."

An unbelievably bright blush burns across Argonza's face at his comment, "I'll-ah...I'll keep that in mind, next time." She mutters in embarrassment while shifting uncomfortably, before pushing her way out of the kitchen and leading the two of them to the door. "Right, well I'd invite you guys to stay for dinner or something, but I'm pretty sure that Daniels has just made this uncomfortable enough." She says pointedly while opening the door, directing a disapproving look at suited man while you take a bite out of your sandwich and look on in silence, not really sure whether you should feel amused or awkward at the conversation.
(Good god I can't estimate these worth shit. I'm too long-winded. Anyways 4/5 for sure.)

Thankfully it appears that the detectives are taking the hint, particularly Daniels, and they quickly move to exit, the woman not even bothering to say goodbye before leaving the two of you alone. "Well, that was...interesting." You comment after swallowing another bite of salami and bread, drawing a somewhat annoyed look from your host.

"You won't say a word about this, if you know what's good for you, Sparky." She mutters towards you darkly, before taking a savage bite from her own sandwich and dropping back down onto the couch again.

A grin spreads across your face as you follow her lead and sit back down next to her, "I wouldn't dream of it, Captain." You say simply, drawing a frustrated groan from her at the inclusion of her rank, though she doesn't bother to correct you this time.

There's a few minutes of silence as the two of you eat, though it's a far cry from the awkward one that plagued you earlier, before finally Kaitlin finishes her second sandwich. "Well, I'm probably going to go ahead and take a shower and get dressed to go out on patrol. We've still got plenty of daylight left, so unless you're wanting to put your goggles on and throw on a mask or something to join me, I figure you're going to be on your own for a bit longer until it gets dark." She says while standing up and grabbing her jacket off the back of the chair.

You're pretty sure she was joking, though if you're honest with yourself there's a small part of her that wants to take her up on the offer, not that you're really sure what you'd wear as mask if you did join her. Then again, seeing as how you're going to be going out later tonight to train with her, it'd probably be easier to just sit here and wait until it gets dark, and honestly you still don't know how to use your powers correctly.

Any idea what we should do with our costume? I kind of like home-made stuff myself...I guess it's kind of early to talk too much about it if we're just throwing a temporary mask together, but still.

Pic kind of related

Nah man, sombrero, bandanna to cover our mouth and nose, a poncho, and then we can build something that looks like a revolver to channel our zappy zaps into
>>
After looking around the room a little bit and not really finding much to make up a mask anyways you decide that honestly it would probably be better to hold off on trying to play super hero until you actually know how use your powers, at the very least until you know that you aren't going to accidentally kill anybody by punching them or something. With that in mind you sit back down on the couch and start flipping through the channels on the TV, after grabbing the remote from off the table, before finally settling on Forensics Files after realizing that there's absolutely nothing else on right now.

The episode is about half-way over by the time Kaitlin reemerges from the bathroom, clad in her black and crimson outfit and dragging a comb through her still dripping hair. You can't help but think that there's something different about her, until you realize that this is actually the first time you haven't seen her without her hair being up in a bun. From the look on her face, it seems like she actually half-expected to see you standing there with a mask over your head already. "Aww, you're not going to go with me?" She asks in a disappointed tone, though the smile on her face tells you that she's probably just teasing you.

"Well, I actually was kind of wanting to at first," You admit with a shrug, "but after thinking about it I realized that would actually probably be a really bad idea, at least until I know that I'm not going to kill somebody by sneezing at them. Besides, I couldn't really come up with a good mask, and I'm not sure I want to just rely on the goggles...I mean surely it takes more than that to hide you actually are, right?"

The heroine nods at your assertion of wanting to train first, before shrugging at the mask comment while starting to put her hair back up. "You'd be surprised how often people don't recognize you with just that, especially with the colored lenses. Still, you're probably right, it's better to have a real mask or hood or something if you're worried about people recognizing you. It's the way most of us go, the only reason I don't really bother is just because I'm deep enough into Primus that I've got a pretty good safety net. I'll admit that as annoying as their surveillance is, it does do a good job of catching people that are trying to attack the rest of our families, and I'll never have to worry about a bomb being set up in my apartment, for all the good it'd do them."

"I guess." You mutter noncommittally, "Not really sure I'd like them spying on me all the time though. After all, then you end up having detectives find your 'instruments'" You shoot back to her, a shit-eating grin spreading across your face even as you're forced to dodge a backhanded slap from her that you're pretty sure would have sent you to the floor.

"Oh, you just wait...you're going to regret that when we start your training tonight." She replies, a dangerous glint in her eye as she does so.

Your smile falters just a little at that, "Wait, what?" You ask quickly your concentration on dodging her completely lapsing as you do so, something you learn is a mistake just seconds too late as you feel her fist connect solidly with your chest, sending you sprawling backwards onto the couch as you let out a small groan. "Holy fuck, that hurts..."

The laugh you receive in response almost feels like an insult as you rub the area where her small hand impacted you, "Don't be such a baby, I was just playing with you. Besides, now I won't have to go so hard on you tonight." The heroine says, before grabbing her own goggles off the kitchen counter and heading over to the open window.
(2/3. I'm bad at this.)
>>
>>32317354
we must start training without her so that we won't get utterly rekt
>>
"It still hurt..." You say quietly, before trying to shake it off. "Well, have a good time and all that. I promise not to tell anybody about your stuff if they decide to try and blow up your apartment while I'm inside, and all that stuff."

Kaitlin shakes her head in amazement at your persistence, "Well, I guess you don't give up that easily, I'll give you that." She mutters, "Guess we get to do the fun training after all. Anyways, like I said, I'll be back just a little bit before dark. You don't have to, but if you want you can look around my room for some materials for a mask. I don't have much but I do like yo make my own costumes, so you might be able to put something together if you don't mind 'girly' colors. If not then it's no big deal, the whole point of doing this at night is so that people don't see you."

"I might do that." You reply, before shrugging, "Either way, I appreciate the offer."

"No problem. Right, well, I'll see you in a little while, Mike. Don't get yourself in trouble while I'm gone."

You roll your eyes at that before giving her a wave as she takes off at a relatively slow speed out the window. Sitting back down on the couch you let out another quiet groan and rub at the still tender spot on your chest, while the narrator on the TV finishes the summary of the episode. Well, you've got a few hours at the earliest before you're going to be going anywhere, but you could go ahead and check out what she's got in her room if you want. Of course you could just sit here and watch TV for a bit longer before looking for something that would work as a quick mask and really, like she said, it's not like you have to make one at all right now. You're going out to train, not to actually fight people. Why would you need a mask for that?

Also I need to take a bit of a break guys. Sorry, but I'll be back before too long. It might be a good time to talk about eventual costume designs if you want to deal with it right now. It'll be quite a while before you can do anything truly high-tech, but you made your goggles, and with a bit of work you can make other things too in time.

As amusing as it is, you probably won't have a chance to wear a sombrero for quite a while. Might have it as joke costume later, though.

Back at the house. I'll be back to write soon, right now it's looking like maybe we should just do some general sketches or something, rather than trying to put a real costume together.

Looks like something with a trench coat at the moment? That's doable, certainly cheaper than going to the actual designers to make your costume.
Assuming you could even lie well enough to convince them you were registered.

Also, since the question was asked, our lightning is currently blue.

Back, getting ready to write. I'll just have us poke around her room a bit to find some stuff for a mask before grabbing some paper and pencil and sitting down to sketch something out. Don't have to keep whatever we come up with, obviously, like one of you said, we're still in our origin stage and we may be there for a bit unless something happens.

You remain on the couch for a few minutes after the episode ends, wondering whether or not you actually want to bother with the costume right now, before deciding that that you might as well check out what she has. It's doubtful that she has anything that you'd actually want to wear on a real outing but, for tonight's purposes, you're sure that you can find something at least. As it you make your way back into her room you can't help but think of a few different designs that you could use for a real costume, assuming you bothered to actually make one. After all, even though the thought keeps plaguing you, you can't really think of a particularly good reason as to why you should even consider actually being a super hero. Not having a particularly good answer for the question, other than just because you can, you try to shove it from your mind and are mostly successful, though there is a lingering doubt that remains.

In an effort to get back on task you turn your attention towards the closet, where it appears that Kaitlin keeps a few alternate outfits hanging, and the small dresser that's shoved into it. You approach the dresser and open up the first couple of drawers on the top, somewhat relieved to see that you haven't stumbled over anything like the two detectives apparently did. Taking a few minutes to rifle through the other drawers, and check out the hanging outfits, just in case there's anything interesting on them, you come up with only a couple of things that could actually be worth your time.
(1/2)

Sorry for the wait guys, emergency bathroom break I should have taken care of it before starting to write.
>>
You grab the various pieces of clothing off the dresser and lay them out on her bed so that you can better see what you've got to work with, which admittedly isn't much...well there were a few other options but these are really the only ones you're willing to be seen wearing in public. Lying on the bed in front of you are your goggles, a brown pair of thick leather gloves, one of which curiously has several straps on it and would probably reach up to above your elbow, a black ski-mask, which you would have immediately chosen just for the convenience if it wasn't for the fact that it feels like it's about ninety degrees outside right now, a long black and purple middle-eastern style scarf, and a black hoodie with a red and white stripe on it's right arm and, much to your amusement, a N7 insignia on the left breast.

It would be easy enough to combine any of the pieces of the costume that you wanted, though some of them would be a bit impractical to wear together, such as the mask and the scarf. Of course if you just wanted to use one of the items then clearly that would be perfectly fine too, and really it's not like you have to use any at all.

What do you want to wear? You can choose any combination.

Goggles, hoodie, gloves. Take the scarf to cover or mouth/chin, bandana style.
>>
After looking over your options for a little bit, and arranging them together a couple of different ways you eventually decide that you'll keep everything except the scarf. It'll probably be pretty hot, but it's probably better to be safe than sorry in this case, besides it's not like Argonza was actually serious about kicking your ass in training...right? Having decided on what you're going to wear tonight you grab the scarf with the intention of putting it up again, and are doing just that when you notice something that you somehow missed before; a sketch pad with several different shading and colored pencils in a glass cup next to it.

Thoughts of the various designs that you were considering earlier flash back into your mind, leading you to grab it, the cup of pencils, and your disguise for tonight, before heading back out into the living room. You toss your 'costume' down on the coffee table and set the pencils down along side it sitting back down on the couch, leaning your head back against the cushions as you search your mind for inspiration and try to decide exactly what it is that you want to sketch out right now.

You remember that you had some ideas about a trench coat earlier, though you're not really sure what else you would have along with it aside from the obvious factor of a mask, but then your mind wanders somewhat as your gaze turns back to the clothes you picked out for tonight. Obviously those aren't something you want to wear all the time, but maybe you could think the concept through some more and sketch that up? It's not like you're doing anything more than a rough draft anyways, so ultimately it probably doesn't matter what you choose to do, besides like you told yourself earlier this is more of an exercise in creativity than anything else. It's not like you're just going to go out and make yourself some kind of spangly outfit so that you can go running around shooting gangsters, corrupt corporate executives, and cats with lightning, are you?
>>
What do you want to draw?
>Something to do with a trench coat and mask. Do you have any other ideas to flesh it out?
>A more well thought out version of your current costume, maybe with a few changes to it?
>Something else. You've got plenty of time to brain storm here, you might even be able to get out multiple sketches if you want, though they might be less detailed than if you were just concentrating on one of them.

>>32320863

>>
Trench coat and mask it is, I'll keep taking suggestions for a little bit in case something you guys like pops up, but I'll go ahead and start writing, probably with the metal fibers/harness idea included.

>Writing.
>>
>>32320816

>>
>>32321253

>>
>>32321451

>>
Ultimately you decide that while you may want to draw up a few other ideas later, right now you're just going to work on the trench coat idea. Grabbing one of the pencils from the glass you prop the sketch pad up against your knees so that you're looking up at it and start sketching out the outlines. As soon as the basic body is done you start in on the trench coat, making sure to have it come down just above your achilles tendon, you decide to leave the front open for now, before another idea occurs to you leading you to draw a line connected to a pair of parenthesis with a suggestion to have some kind of metal fiber weaved into the coat.

With the initial outline of the the coat done you move on up to the head, drawing in a small bump for a nose, but largely leaving the facial features blank, for obvious reasons, you make sure that the collar of the mask travels down the neck a bit so that it would connect to any shirt you might want to wear, before turning your attention back to the actually important parts of it. With a quick glance at your goggles you decide to quickly sketch those in as well, drawing it so that the straps are over the mask rather than trying to fit the somewhat bulky goggles under it. You initially start to draw in a headset or something so that you could talk on your phone or a radio if you needed to, before remembering that your goggles already had something for that, all you're missing is a mic still.

When you come down to the torso that isn't covered by the coat you find yourself somewhat stumped...you briefly consider just drawing in a t-shirt, though you're not really sure you want to do that. You chew on the eraser a little bit while you brainstorm, before letting out a low hum and bringing the pencil tip back to the paper.
(1 of however many it takes.)

>>
>>32321759

>>
You have to stop and erase lines several times, but ultimately you finally come up with something that you might be okay with...it looks pretty close to the 'combat shirts' that you've seen a couple of times in your step-brother's pictures of himself in Afghanistan, complete with the tiny diamond pattern on the mesh part of the shirt, though you leave out the camouflage pattern. You're just about to move on from the torso when another idea occurs to you...while you didn't have any problems with your clothes catching fire or melting last time your powers acted up it might be a good idea to make sure that's not a possibility. With that in mind you start sketching out a very rough design for a harness that you might be able to wear under your coat but above your shirt, you imagine it as being made from leather and the buckles and such would pretty much have to be metal. In the front of it, down towards your waist close to where a belt-buckle might sit, you sketch out a conductor that all of the harnesses, both chest and waist, attach to. In a moment of either extreme silliness or divine inspiration you ensure that you add a few medium-sized compartments to the waist straps, effectively turning the harness into a sort of utility belt.

Deciding that that's probably good enough for now, especially since you don't even know if you would need a faraday cage to protect your clothes, you move on down to the figure's hands, drawing up the outlines of gloves on both of them. At first you leave the gloves fingerless and are about to move down to the legs, before another bit of inspiration strikes you, and you instead decide to mark both the ends of the fingers and the knuckles as metal, or some other conductive material, drawing out a full 'tactical' knuckle for them rather than individual studs.
(2/however)
Sorry 'bout dropping the trip, not sure what happened.
>>
>>32321826
B-but we can do poses!
Ok, it was a stupid idea...but I'm still pushing for it.
>>
>>32321879
Oh yeah, we could probably buy some surplus plate carriers and dye them black for some cheap protection.
>>
>>32321985
we can added it later.
>>
Now done with the gloves, you figure that you should finally move on to the legs. At first you're not really sure what you want to do with them either...you figure that you could just go with slacks or jeans or something, though you figure that if you're going to be fighting in them you might want to have a bit more protection than either of those options offer. You stare up at the ceiling for a few minutes, the eraser once again finding it's way to your teeth, before looking back down at the figure...maybe you could follow up on the idea of similar but different that you done with the combat shirt? Hesitantly you start sketching out some pants similar to those that you would see on a soldier, again leaving out the cammo pattern in favor of a solid design, though obviously you could eventually change that. Looking down at the pants you can't help but think that something's missing...you're not entirely sure what it is at first, until you tentatively decide to draw in another belt, somewhat understated so as not to detract from the harness, and a pair of thick knee pads that form to the shape of your legs enough that they shouldn't impede movement. With the thought of the knee pads you turn your attention back up to the coat again momentarily to make a note about possibly adding a pair of elbow pads to it.

With the small amount of armor taken care of you return down to the legs and start sketching out the boots. All things considered it's probably the easiest part of the design to decide on, seeing as how the only other thing you can think of are just regular tennis shoes or dress shoes, and neither of those fit. It only takes you a few minutes to draw the combat boots, with the ends of the pants tucked into the top of them.
(3/4)
>>
>>32322278
Maybe add something conductive to the boots so electro kicks can be done easier too
>>
>>32322347
This
>>
As you finish the last part of the sketch you lean back and look at it, a small smile on your face as you do it, though one last idea occurs to you, and you put the pencil back to paper again to add the same conductive plating to the toe of the boot, as well as writing in a note questioning whether or not you should add it to the bottom as well, though obviously that would make sneaking hard. Overall you kind of like it...you may not actually use it, but it's fun to draw it and there's definitely some good ideas here that you might incorporate into some other ideas later. Looking out the window you notice that you've still probably got at least an hour so until it really gets dark, and as your eyes travel back to the sketch pad you wonder whether you should take some time to color this in, or if you should call it done for now and start working another idea. Of course you've been doing this for a little while, it might not hurt to give it a break and just watch some TV or something.

What do you want to do?
>Color the sketch. What color scheme would you like to see? Is the jacket going to be leather or cloth?

You crack the bottle open and take a couple of drinks before capping it back off and heading back to the couch to grab the pad again. Laying back against the cushions once more you decide that, since you've got the time, you might as well start coloring it.

It takes you a few minutes to figure out what you want to do, but eventually you do figure out what you want to do for a color scheme. You jot down a couple more notes about the coat, most importantly deciding that it should probably be some kind of heavy fabric, preferably something that would be easy to have kevlar woven into, before finally putting the sketching pencil down and reaching for a couple of the darker shades of blue pencils, as well as a single black one. You start, as before, with the coat, shading it heavily with the darkest of the blue pencils you grabbed from the cup, you make sure to trace out a couple of pockets on the outside in black, though make another note that it should have plenty more hidden pockets on the inside. Turning your attention to the buttons you initially think that maybe you should color them in with black, before deciding that instead to grab a silver-colored pencil from the cup to shade them and the plated parts of the gloves and boots.

Moving once again to the mask you easily shade it in with blue as well, though you do shade most of the goggles black leaving only the buckles on them to shade silver. With those done you move down to the shirt and start in on that. Most of the torso is colored blue, though you make a note that your shoulders of the shirt should be an off-white and the straps on the harness are colored black, more due to practicality than anything else, while the metal parts of the harness are colored in as silver.

Only other thing I could think of, as for body Armor. ... We need to wear a cup if we're getting in hand to hand.
>>
The pants and gloves are where you deviate slightly from the pattern, coloring all of the non-metal parts of the gloves black while the pants are largely blue but have a white stripe down the outside of both legs. The straps on the knee pads are also dark blue, though you color in the actual protective caps as black. The boots, unsurprisingly, are colored largely black, though once again you make an exception for the conductive part of it.

Finally you decide that the coloring is done, at least for now anyways. As with everything else on the drawing you might end up changing it eventually, but for now you're happy with it. Just as you set the pad down on the table, you hear a light thump, and turn to see your heroine friend has returned....well, you don't think 'friend' is the right word exactly, though you almost feel as if calling her anything else at this point is doing her a disservice.

Deciding that you'd probably do better to just ignore the thoughts for now, you raise your hand in greeting, "Hey, welcome back. Everything go alright?" You ask with a small smile.

Kaitlin nods, returning your smile with a friendly one of her own, "Yeah, not really much to report thankfully. I stopped a couple of muggings and caught a couple of idiots trying to break into a bank, but other than that it was pretty quiet for once." She replies, before giving you a somewhat strange look. "You seem...happy."

You blink in a small bit of confusion, "I...do? Is that bad?"

She quickly shakes her head while making her way over to you, "No, no obviously not, it's just that I haven't really seen you this relaxed since you've been here, I guess. I mean, it's perfectly understandable, don't get me wrong, I'm just a little surprised that you've managed to bounce back before twenty-four hours, even."

>>
"Oh..." You reply, lamely, looking off to the side for a few seconds before shrugging and shaking your head, "I guess I can understand that. To tell you the truth, I'm probably not really 'completely okay', but it's definitely not the end of the world either. I mean, it's not like I lost somebody in the fire or had my entire...okay well yeah most of my life did completely get reduced to ashes, but it's not like I had that much to begin with. I'm a college student, not a middle-aged banker. Besides, it's not like I don't have anything to work with at all, I still need to put in the claim probably, but I did have insurance on the apartment and if I don't manage to make it back to work I'll be getting a half-way decent severance package for the kind of work I was doing." You explain, before waving your hand in the air, as if trying to clear the topic completely from the conversation. "Anyways, I went ahead and raided your closet like you suggested. I figured you might want to check out what I picked out before I wore them out. You know, make sure it's not something that you really love, just in case I accidentally torch it or something?"

The heroine blinks speechlessly at you as she listens to your point of view, before finally shaking herself out of it as you change the subject. "Oh, uh...sure. I could check them out if you want." She answers with a nod, before following you over to the coffee table. It doesn't take you very long to show her what you picked out and, while she does eye the hoodie somewhat possessively, she doesn't say anything against you wearing any of them, though she does point out that it might be a bit warm for the mask.

"Yeah...I kind of thought so too, but I figured that I might as well try it. If worse comes to worse I can just take it off and put it in my pocket or something." You reply simply as you turn your back on her and start putting the hoodie on, not quite catching her moving to pick up the sketch pad sitting on the table.

"This is pretty good, Mike. You drew this while I was out?" Kaitlin asks, clearly impressed at your work.

You spin around on your heel, surprised to see her scrutinizing your design pretty closely, seeming to drink in every minute detail of it, particularly as she pours over the notes that you wrote. "Oh, um...yeah. Honestly that's what I done with most of my time once you left." You answer somewhat awkwardly while rubbing the back of your neck in embarrassment, "It's uh...it's just a rough draft, you know. Not like it's going to be for sure or anything, honestly it's mostly just kind of a mental exercise."

She lets out a small laugh at your embarrassment, "I'm being serious, Michael, I'm honestly impressed, especially if you're being serious about it just being a rough draft." She assures you, before a somewhat thoughtful look crosses her face, "You know...if you want, I could probably make this happen. It'd probably take a little bit, I wouldn't want to order it all at once or some people might get a little suspicious, but I've got a lot of favors owed to me by the power house's costume designers. You'd have to make this harness thingy yourself, though. I don't think any of them have much experience with that kind of stuff."

You turned away shortly after she started talking, deciding that it'd probably be easier to just let her say whatever she wanted about your drawing while you finished getting dressed, but as she makes the offer you pause in the middle of pulling on the bicep-length glove before turning back to her with an incredulous look. "Seriously? You'd really do that? I don't even know if I'm actually going to do this whole thing!" You say, not really sure whether you believe her or not.

"Yeah, sure, why not? I prefer making my own costumes, and I've got the resources to do it myself, instead of relying on actual designers. To be honest, there's a good chance that I'm just not ever going to use them for myself." She replies genuinely.

You're honestly not really sure how to respond to her offer. You'll admit that it's actually pretty tempting, though you had planned on putting it together yourself, assuming you bothered to make it at all. Obviously something like what you drew up is going to be pretty expensive to make yourself, but on the other hand you're not sure you want to take advantage of her any more than you already are, plus you're not even sure that you want to go with that design!

Either way, it's clear she's expecting an answer, so you'd better not keep her waiting.
>Accept the offer. Realistically there's no way you can put something like that together in any reasonable amount of time, given your resources.
>Decline the offer. You sincerely appreciate it, but you really can't accept this, especially since you might change your mind about what you want later.
>Ask if you can think about it for a bit. Like you said before, it's not like you're about to just go running out and becoming some kind of super hero right now. You've got plenty of time to decide whether or not you need to have a costume made, or even if you want to do it yourself.

[Sorry about how long the first post took guys. We just got hit by a storm, and it was screwing with my connection pretty bad for a while. I'm hoping it doesn't happen again, but I can't promise anything. I was planning on getting to training tonight, but I think it may have to wait until tomorrow/this afternoon's session.]

I think we should shop around for critical materials like the plate carrier and electrically conductive clothe before agreeing. We'd want the best materials for those.

Honestly I think we should do it ourselves. Mainly cause I have a feeling somebody might draw connections.

Alrighty, we'll ask for some time to think about it.

>Writing.
This'll probably be the last story-update for tonight guys.

Looking down at the floor, you give the offer some serious thought. You're almost certain that if you accepted her help you could get the top of the line materials that you had in mind while working on the design or, at the very least, they'd be a much higher quality than anything you'd be able to afford for sure. Unfortunately you're not quite able to throw off the nagging feeling of doubt that you shouldn't do this, not until you're one-hundred percent sure that you want to actually pursue this, at least. After all, from what you saw from her wardrobe your design isn't anything like what she wears on a normal basis, and from the way she's talking it's obvious she never goes to these people for her materials...you're worried that letting her do this for you might end up leading back to both of you.

With that thought in mind you shake your head slowly, "I don't know, Kate...I really appreciate the offer, but I'm not really sure that I want to take advantage of you like that, especially if I end up deciding that I don't actually want to do the whole hero thing." You reply, while looking back up at her, "Do you think I could hold off on giving you an actual answer for a little bit? I mean, if things work out then I might go ahead and do it, but it seems like it would be a good idea to wait for a bit, maybe let things cool down with the whole registration thing, if nothing else."

Argonza shrugs in response, not seeming overly upset about your answer, almost as if she'd expected it from you, "Sure, I'm not in any kind of hurry. Like I said, I'm probably not going to use those things myself, so the offer's open if you ever change your mind." She says easily, dropping the pad back down on the table while you pull the ski-mask over your head, followed quickly by your goggles and the hood.

It's impossible for you to ignore the chuckle she lets out as the two of you start making your way towards the balcony in her room. "What? What's so funny?"

A grin spreads across the crimson-clad hero's face as she closes the door behind you, "Oh, it's nothing." She says innocently, before turning back towards you and grabbing you in a tight grip, making you squirm somewhat uncomfortably, though you don't bother saying anything about it as she lifts off from the balcony. "You just look a little ridiculous with the ski-mask in the middle of May."

"That's it?" You ask, raising a skeptical eyebrow under your mask, not particularly sure whether or not you believe her or not.

Kaitlin shrugs, causing your stomach to flip over a couple of times inside of you as she readjusts how she's holding you in mid-flight, "Well that...and the fact that I've spent all night planning out what I'm going to have you do as recompense for your heinous crimes against me." She explains calmly, despite the exaggeratedly evil tone she's adopted, "I'm going to have fun tonight. You, on the other hand, are probably going to start hating life in about fifteen minutes."

You feel a small amount of panic well up inside you at her explanation as your mind flashes back to the 'playful tap' she gave you earlier. Squirming a little bit in her grip, you glance down at the ground and wonder if a drop from this far up would still kill you...

>End of Issue #3!

Welp, that's it for tonight folks. Sorry I didn't go any longer, but to be honest I'm starting to drag, and I'm not sure how much further I could have made it. Still I really enjoyed the session, and I hope you guys did too. I'll stick around for Q&A for a bit, if anybody's interested in it, but I'm probably going to head to bed pretty soon.

Thanks for the thread #1
ETA on the next?

>>32324511
I expect that I'll have another one up sometime early to mid afternoon today, but I can't promise for sure until it's up.
As a general question from me to the rest of you, what do you think of the costume design? Is it alright or are you interested in re-imagining it? I meant to have more actual white in the color scheme, but I couldn't really figure out where to put it, though I figure that when/if we design an insignia that it'll be white.

Any suggestions for the thread in general, that isn't costume related? Like I said before, I'm just starting out at this, and I'm willing to take advice if you're willing to give it. Can't say I'll follow it, but I'll at least consider it.

Do we generate enough electricity to power a powered exoskeleton?
>>
>>32324706
We probably could, yes, but it would take quite a bit out of us to maintain it for more than an hour or so, and we wouldn't have much left to use for anything else.
>>
>>32324760
How do we upgrade our powers?
>>
It will happen naturally over time. We're still extremely inexperienced with our powers, but as you learn more about them and actually use them it'll get easier for you and you'll have more power. Basically you just have to work out.

In the future you may also come across special circumstances or items that may be able to give you a one-time boost to your powers or give you a new power, kind of like the blast-cores in inFamous 2. I haven't decided yet.
>>
>>32324932
Alright, how much power would it cost to power an air conditioned suit under our costume? I imagine running around in a trenchcoat and plate carrier will be rather hot.
>>
>>32324964
Not really sure. Normally it wouldn't be a big deal as you put some energy into a few appliances around a house to power them and then still be good to go in a few minutes, but that'd be a constant draw on your energy instead of a temporary one.

Either way I wasn't really planning on making you actually account for the heat unless you wanted to. Most I was going to do is make Mike bitch a bit about it being hot and maybe take your coat off if you in the desert or something.
