The year is 1938 BCE. War has broken out between the Imperial Alliance to the East, and the Oceanic Federation to the West. Both are huge conglomerates of various nations, wanting to keep themselves from the other.

This is a new kind of war. The first kind of war to see the mass-use of magically blessed girls known as Witches against each other. Despite new advances like Machine Guns, tanks, and the magical Striker units, the worst thing to ever happen in the war has happened. The lines have stabilized.

The continent has been split in half and at the line between the two hegemonies lays a stretch of land barely five kilometers wide, but over thousands of kilometers in length. Stretching in this line are rows of trenches, mines, barbed wire, and other obstacles for witches and soldiers to overcome if they want to even gain an inch of ground.

Most thought the war would be over in a year at most. You are seeing now how wrong they are. You were recruited by the Imperial Alliance to fight for them, among thousands of other Witches and countless millions of soldiers.

You are a Witch.

To Corporal Rosemary Finken,

We have reviewed your request for a week’s leave away from the frontlines and have decided to summarily reject it. We cannot afford to lose you as a valuable asset towards the Imperial Alliance armed forces for not even a week. Witches provide a tremendous advantage against the enemy. It is your responsibility to fight them when we ask that of you. We greatly apologize for any inconveniences this causes and hopefully if the time is right, perhaps leave will be granted.

Sincerely,
Major Menelaus Bernhardt

You sigh. That’s kind of depressing. But, you weren’t exactly expecting much considering how close the big push was.

A few days had passed under the artillery bombardment of the Federal lines. Much of those days were spent goofing around, sleeping, drilling, working on the Strikers, the likes. The reality of the frontline often is that you’re not thrust into the action for months on end, especially if you’re stuck in reserve. You’d go crazy too if you were stuck in the reserve, comfy as it is.

Now however, you were preparing for the assault. The 178th Assault Witch Platoon consisted of six Lances that ideally should have around ten witches each. Due to your circumstances, the Platoon numbered around twenty-two Witches, not including support personal like Sawyer Hackett. The first Lance was the Command Squad, consisting of the Lieutenant and her bodyguard. The second through fourth were the Battle Witches, consisting of witches using Panzer IV Model D Strikers. The fifth and six Lances were the Assault Witches, you and your comrades using StuG III Model E Strikers, with Sergeants using Model Fs.

The Lieutenant went over the formation carefully with the platoon as you all gathered in the makeshift Striker Depot. It was the standard combined arms formation.

Firstly, two StuG III Model Es from the Artillery platoon were attached to the assault force. Between them were the witches who would combine their shields into a bulletproof barrier allowing infantry to use both the assault guns and you to advance under machine gun fire. Intervals between witches and the StuGs would be five meters. Behind you would be the support personnel which included mechanics and medics, along with the following infantry company.

Thusly, one lance to a company, and each lance would be spread out through an entire regiment. In theory, all the arms of the force are to support each other.

“Alright,” says the Lieutenant. “Any questions?”

All of you sort of shrug and remain silent.

“Alright,” says the Lieutenant. “Then get to your Strikers. We step off in thirty minutes.” Everyone stands up and starts heading down the depot and to their Striker units.

Erika walks next to you, smiling. “Boy, you know I think we caught it easy, darling.”

“How so?” you ask.

“Oh, small target,” says Erika. “Reserve trench, already badly beaten by artillery, Federal militia on it too. It should be a snap.”

Daisy walks up next to Erika, also grinning. “Yeah, we won’t be like D Lance. They’re getting the center of the assault. We’re taking the flank.”

Iris Elster walks up in between all of you. “And of course, the Lieutenant is at the back behind everyone.”

“Now, Iris,” says Daisy. “We had this discussion before. Not all commanders lead from the front! Besides, she cares about us. She wouldn’t throw us into the slaughter just like that! And I respect that!”

You look back to see the Rookie, at her Striker. The mechanic, a very gruff looking male soldier who doesn’t look particularly pleased at having to wait on her, stands by with arms crossed. The Rookie is busy undoing her belt and trying to get her pants off so that her legs can interface with the Unit better.

Good grief.

The rest of your Lance looks back. “Jeez,” says Erika. “I almost feel sorry for the poor thing.”

You sigh. You look at them and say, “She’ll learn.” With that, you leave them in a confused wake and walk over to the Rookie.

The Rookie smiles at the mechanic nervously. “I-I’m sorry, this- I- Nerves you know?” She continues trying to shakily undo her pant fly. The mechanic grunts.

You walk up behind her, surprising her. “Hey, Stark. How you doing?”

The mechanic known as Stark smiles at you. “Finken, good to see you.”

You ask, “Can I borrow your knife for a second?” He nods then quickly pulls out his bootknife, handing it to you. You quickly grab the Rookies pant leg and start slicing at the cloth.

“Wh- What are you doing!?” she yells.

“Helping you,” you say. “If you’re not going to take your pants off, just get rid of the legs, okay?” You slice off one leg of the pants, then the other in short succession. You roll up the cloth, it’ll probably be useful later.

She stands there in her new short-shorts, surprise. “Like it?” you ask, smirking.

“No.”

You shrug then walk over to your own Striker. Steiner, your mechanic, kneels down and lets you climb up on his shoulders for you to mount in. The Striker accepts your bare legs with ease as they disappear into a little magical pocket dimension.

Steiner says, “Hey, you be careful with this one.” He slaps the side of it. “You know how finicky the Quick-Releases are.”

You shrug as he mounts the shoulder armor onto you. “It’s fine,” you say.

“You sure?” he asks.

>> “Yes.”
It may well bite us in the ass, but bitching never solved anything.
>>
> “Yes.”

You nod. “Yes, I’m sure, Steiner. You needn’t worry about me.”

The Quick-Release Steiner referred to was the Emergency Release that helped a Witch escape if her Striker were to be suddenly damaged beyond all repair. Strikers can always be repaired or even replaced, but a Witch cannot be. Thusly, in theory the Quick-Release is to help preserve the Witch in case of trouble.

In actuality, due to how the Striker dissolves the legs into a pocket dimension to help meld Witch to Striker, this often results in a lot of accidents. Sometimes it refuses to work. Sometimes, the Striker quickly explodes as intended, but without the Witch’s legs. Other times, it just explodes and kills the Witch. As well-intentioned as it was, the Quick-Release often kills Witches more than the Federals do.

Thusly, the Quick-Release button is often just taped over.

You sigh, then power up your Striker. The Striker Unit briefly glows blue along the weld lines, then dims. Working as intended. Steiner hefts up your heavy grenade launcher, ideal for busting bunkers. Steiner salutes you and wishes you luck as you stomp out of the depot and onto the frontlines.

The Sergeant walks next to you, shouldering her recoilless rifle. “Alright, Corporal. Your pick. You want the left or the right?”

You say, “I’ll go with the Rookie and Iris. Seems like a weird combination you know?”

Sergeant Wurger says, “Well, you know, Iris is experienced. She was here when you and Lily arrived. She might be a bit of a jerk, but she’s fair.”

You nod. “I’ll agree with that, I suppose.”

“Right,” says Sergeant Wurger. “Let’s get rolling then.”

Your Strikers march up to the frontline trenches, accompanied by K Company of the Infantry Regiment you’re attached to. You forget what they were called.

But regardless, you’re leaning up against the wall of the trench, waiting for the smoke to screen your advance. It’s a few kilometers walk, then the last kilometer will be a short jog and the last stretch will be a sprint. Artillery is likely, along with some token snipers to try their luck against your shields, but certainly nothing you can’t handle.

The Rookie shakes a bit, drumming her fingers along her grenade launcher.

“Hey, Rookie,” says Iris. “Don’t fuck up.”

The Rookie stares at Iris for a few seconds, then says, “That’s helpful advice, thanks.”

You say, “Just stay by me, and remember your training, it’ll save your life.”

The Rookie glances at you, then takes a deep breath in and out. To your left is Sergeant Wurger and to her left is Daisy and Erika. Behind you is the assembled K Company, an infantry unit with bolt-action rifles, rifle grenades, the works. Old men, young boys, a mix of both, they’re just as diverse as you are.

The Captain stands up, checking the time. He’s a tall man, with a bushy moustache, a few scars from some close calls with snipers too. He pulls out a whistle and places it between his lips, waiting. He takes the whistle out and yells, “Men! For your homes! For your lives! Don’t bunch up! Get ready!”

You check your watch. Thirty seconds to three.

The Captain blows his whistle with a loud piercing fweet. You grab the trench wall and go over the top, and into No-Man’s land. The StuG IIIs to your left and right roll over the trenches. With some distance gained, the Infantry company follows up behind you, allowing plenty of space.

You look over at the Rookie, there’s usually a five meter spread between Witches for maximum coverage of the shields. She’s less than two meters away. “Rookie,” you say. “Five meter spread.”

The Rookie nods quickly, strafing sideways.

The mud kicks up and splashes as your Striker stomps its way through. Air Witches fly right over head, dropping smoke grenades a kilometer ahead for you to advance behind.

You look around. To your left is Sergeant Wurger, Erika, and Daisy, advancing along with the StuG III on their flank. To your right is the Rookie, Iris Elster, your StuG III. Behind you are the Infantry and the platoon’s support personnel. This includes Sawyer Hackett, who foregoes a rifle or any sort of weapon in favor of more medical supplies.

The advantages of being a pacifist in a war.

But regardless, it doesn’t seem like anything’s off. Soon, the first kilometer is past. You can hear the whistle of artillery shells flying overhead, and the loud boom as they impact. The infantry duck and hunch over, slowing their march until the Captain says, “Faster! Keep moving!”

Thusly, Sergeant Wurger quickens her pace from a marching walk to a steady jog. All of you Witches do the same as your formation becomes less of a line and more of a wedge. A shell explodes in the air above the infantry’s heads. Shrapnel rains down on them, an unlucky man falling over from a scrap of metal lodging itself in his shoulder. Sawyer runs over to him, immediately tending to his wound.

When you first arrived at the Front, you thought you were invincible. In actuality, the Federals have more or less found out ways to bypass your shields through various ways. Brute force ala a whole lot of .50 Caliber machine guns. Brutal cunning displayed by airburst rounds. Or cunning brutality by mustard gas. It’s sobering somewhat, but terrifying at the same time.

[1/2]
>>
>>32289750
[2/2]

You advance past the smokescreen provided by the Air Witches. Then you hear the low cackle of machine guns. Their rounds zap and spark off your magical shields, stinging you somewhat. Low caliber rounds, probably just .30s thankfully. .50s are a lot more painful. The infantry duck and get low again, advancing closer.

You’re now just about eight hundred meters away from their trench. Ahead of you is a deep crater, filled with water and muck. It’s big enough to slice a hole into the formation but it might give you some cover in case they have AT Rifles.

Do not slow the advance by trying to get into cover. Slowing the advance would just kill more of the infantry that are relying on us for cover, since we'll be leaving a huge gap in the line.
>>
> Go around

You step around the crater. The infantry behind notice this and split off between you and Wurger, accounting for a possible shift in the energy of the shield. Soon, the crater is past and you reform the formation.

Then, the .50s start. Each and every shot against your shields stings like a hornet. Sergeant Wurger screams loud as she can over the intense booming of the .50s. “DOWN!” All of you crouch down, focusing your shields as you crouchwalk further to the trench. The infantry spread out as the artillery and the machine gun fire becomes more and more intense. You can barely hear yourself think now as you stomp along. You look over, the Rookie is gritting her teeth intensely, keeping her head down and her eyes shut.

The StuGs stop. The one on your right fires. The blast sends a ringing through your ears. The shot impacts the trench, silencing a machine gun. Good thing there are no AT guns around it seems.

Sergeant Wurger pulls out a whistle and blows, getting the Lance’s attention. She signals Overwatch. One Witch will stay and keep the machine guns suppressed while the others move up. This is split between the two parts of your Lance.

You look over at Iris and the Rookie.

She nods violently, running as fast as the Strikers can take her. You follow behind as Iris Elster fires her launcher, accurately taking down machine gun positions. The StuGs meanwhile handle the .50 Caliber guns. Wurger covers Erika and Daisy as they move up under fire.

The Infantry meanwhile push up behind your advance, a squad stays behind to help suppress the defenders with rifle and light machine gun fire.

Then, you find yourself within four hundred meters of the trench. Wurger and Iris advance behind your covering fire. Then you can hear a faint whistle at your ears.

Mortars.

“DOWN!” you scream.

You hug the ground as mortar shells start impacting your position, splashing the ground with shrapnel. Everyone else scatters and ducks as the shells start coming in, inaccurately but nobody’s stupid enough to test their luck.

The StuGs advance up around your lance, firing away with their short barrel 75mm guns.

Wurger grabs your shoulder, lifting you up. “Come on!” she screams. “We are not staying here! Move!”

Your lance reforms under fire and starts advancing again at a very brisk jog. The infantry advance behind you quickly, taking casualties from mortars or sniper fire as they close in to the trench.

Wurger halts you, and you all take a knee. You all aim upwards and fire grenades into the trenches. The grenades bounce into the trenches and explode, sending bodies and limbs flying out of the trenches. The defenders scatter as the machine gun fire gets more and more sporadic.

The Captain yells, “Dogs! Charge!” The infantry yell like furies as they rush past you, shovels and knifes drawn as they rush into the trenches.

Oh dear.

All right. The current situation is thus: we have survived the mortars and have reached the enemy trenches. Before our infantry swarmed in for CQC, the witches used grenades to soften up resistance and take out their machine gunners. Our infantry is now in the trenches, and we can either join them, provide covering fire from above as needed, or write in something else. We are not, as of yet, in the trenches, and we have not received specific orders to charge in, as the Captain is in charge of the infantry, not the witches.

> Cover everyone else as they go in

You scream, “Go!” The Lance stands and drops into the trenches, joining in the melee.

All except for the Rookie. She is appears a bit frozen in shock.

You stare at her, then nod to the Trench. “Go!” you scream at her.

She snaps out of it, looking at you for a moment, then quickly rushes into the trenches. You sigh, then quickly reload your grenade launcher. You aim high and start putting grenades into the reserve trenches, ahead of your advancing friendly infantry. The trenches burst and explode with every accurate shot you put at them. The StuGs meanwhile keep your flanks secure as they put more shots into targets further away, mortar positions, sniper posts, .50 Caliber nests.

This attack is going pretty well so far.

The Command of the left StuG turns out and yells at you to come over. You do and climb up, leaning in to hear what he has to say.

“Command reports the attack is going well so far!” he yells. “Enemy is retreating to secondary lines!” He grins, patting you on the back. “Go find your Sergeant, tell her to halt the advance!”

Not to mention one of the biggest factors enforcing the trenchline stalemate in WWI was the fact that field radios were poorly developed, so artillery couldn't adjust on the fly. It wasn't really until WWII that radios became small enough to fully support fire-and-maneuver warfare.
>>

>>32291629
Tanks in WW1 were kinda shoddy you know. If there were limited supplies of tanks and they broke down with high frequency then I'd harbor as many as I could.
>>
>>32291629
Of course it doesn't make sense, we're a lower enlisted in the fringes of the main offensive of a war that we don't quite understand anything about. There's not enough witches to go around (twenty-one witches in a lance that should have sixty), and they've been proven to not be invincible (we visited a terminal witch in the first thread).
>>
>>32291715
Without good radios, even tanks wouldn't be enough to result in the sort of fluid maneuvering characteristic of the Blitzkrieg. You'd spend so long after an assault regrouping your men and laying down telephone wires to re-establish communication with HQ that the enemy could easily perform a lateral movement and block whatever advance had been made.

One of the biggest reasons why the Germans were able to pull off the move through Sedan was that every tank had a radio, so fire or air support could be called in quickly and vulnerabilities quickly taken advantage of. Meanwhile, the French were busy realizing "oh crap this isn't WW I, we can't just pull troops from one sector in a lateral move quickly enough".

Witches here not as powerful.

Rose said that .50 caliber still have a chance to overwhelm their shield, while in SW they are good enough to deflect a laser beam that could slice a ship.

> Left

You head leftwards, crushing bodies and tossed parts with the feet of your Strikers. You crouch downward and keep moving on to the sound of shovels and rifle fire.

Finally, you see the Sergeant, and a squad of infantry using her as a shield to move forward in the narrow trenches. They fire around her as they move on, the Federals attempting to blast her with their ineffectual rifle fire.

“Sergeant!” you yell. The Sergeant turns her head back, then raises her rifle at the Federals and fires. The blast sends the Federals packing in pieces.

The friendly riflemen go around Sergeant Wurger, thanking her for the support. You run up behind her. “Federals are pulling back. They want us to hold up.”

The Sergeant nods. “Alright. Come on.”

With that, you follow the Sergeant around to regroup the lance. Friendly infantry are now pouring into the trenches now, moving supplies in and wounded out. The occasional shell shakes the trenches a bit, but it’s clear the Federals have given up the fight for this particular trench.

Finally, the Lance is together. Erika, Daisy, and Iris look a bit relieved as you all take a knee in a cleared out mortar pit, while the Rookie takes watch.

Sergeant Wurger says, “Alright, good work everyone. No casualties I assume?”

Daisy shakes her head. “Nope! Beyond maybe a few scratches here and there, but nothing serious.”

“Alright,” says Sergeant Wurger. “Iris, where’s the Captain?”

Iris says, “He was hit, not bad though. Lieutenant Deinhardt is in command for now.”

“Okay,” says Sergeant Wurger. “Take five for until we know what’s going on. I’ll go see the Lieutenant.” All of you nod. Wurger nods then walks away.

Daisy laughs a bit. “We did it! Not too bad!”

Erika looks over at the Rookie. “Darling, you made a good showing!” The Rookie looks back, blushing intensely, nearly at the point of tears. Erika frowns. “Something wrong.”

The Rookie mutters something, looking away. You take a quick whiff.

You step over to the Rookie and start taking her aside. The other girls giggle quietly, gossiping about the Rookie.

The Rookie’s tears flow freely as you help her out of your Striker. You step out of your quickly then help her into a nice secluded crater away from them.

“It’s okay, Rookie,” you say. “Everyone gets a case of the gunshits every once in a while. Why, I got them my first day out.”

The Rookie is resigned to having to steal a fresh pair from a corpse. Not something she wanted to do, but where else is she going to find a spare clothes in a formerly enemy trench. “I-… I’m so…”

You pat her shoulder, smiling at her as she squats down near the edge. “It’s okay. Relax. Next time, eat a big lunch. You’re more likely to vomit, that’s less humiliating.” You grab your canteen and hand it to her. “Here, drink.”

She uncaps it and takes a swig of it. She swallows painfully, her shoulders shaking as she quietly cries. Poor girl.

However, after that brief little break, you regroup with the rest of the lance back in your Strikers. Sergeant Wurger says, “Alright. Nothing too out of the ordinary. But I need someone to go with the Infantry on scouting duty, make sure the Feds aren’t itching for a counterattack. Any volunteers?”

You say, “I’ll go, Sarge.”

“You sure,” asks Sergeant Wurger.

You nod. “Yeah. I think everyone else can take a rest.”

“Alright,” says Sergeant Wurger. She points ahead. “Go report to Sergeant Artz. He and his men will be waiting for you.”

With that, you say goodbye to your lance and head on. You meet Sergeant Artz, old man, looks relatively experienced.

“Actually,” a younger man comes to greet you. “I’m Sergeant Artz.” He offers his hand to you, to which you shake it. Okay, that’s a little awkward. “Come on, we’re burning daylight.” With that, he leads his seven-man squad and you out of the trench and onto what’s going to be the next No-man’s land in a few days.

Sergeant Artz and his men, instinctively, use you for cover as you all march along. One of the men hands you a set of binoculars to sight out any enemy positions. You set your Grenade Launcher on your thigh and look through them at enemy positions around a few kilometers away. They’re too busy and a little too far away to be of any threat to you.

“So,” says Artz. “Witch, huh?”

“What gave it away?”

The other members of the squad laugh as the Sergeant grunts, frowning. You continue looking through the binoculars.

You say, “Please focus, Sergeant.” He nods affirmatively.

“Yeah,” he says.

So far, the enemy defenses are being shored up with barbed wire. You can also see little mounds of dirt which indicate mines. Then you see a whole heaping of .50 Caliber Machine gun nests, in concentrations of five for every twenty meters. You can also make out what appear to be short barreled infantry guns.

Huh. Where was all that when you were assaulting?

You relay the information to the Sergeant, who calls forth his radioman. The radioman relays the information to higher command.

“Alright, I think that should do,” he says. “Unless you think you can get closer.”

You’ve always been pretty curious, but there’s no way you can get closer, not with your Striker at least. Those fifties would turn you into a gazebo once you got into range.

You and Sergeant Artz return to the lines. Sergeant Artz says, “You know, I think it’s pretty admirable.”

“What is?” you ask.

“You, being a Witch. Must be amazing, with those powers and all,” says Sergeant Artz.

Another soldiers walks up on the other side of you. He couldn’t be older than 18. “Yeah,” he says. “I mean, you give us a lot of cover in the fight, and you certainly show the Federals what the Alliance can do!” He grins. “Hell, you’re an awesome thing to have in a fight.”

Sergeant Artz nods. “Not to devalue my squad or anything, but I’d certainly go with the Witch over a squad of infantry any day.”

You say, “It’s a tough responsibility.”

Sergeant Artz nods, an admiring expression on his face. “Really?”

“Yeah,” you say. “I mean, I have to take care of the people in my Lance, then there’s you guys, and then I have to take care of myself. I have to return home to my Father you know? In one piece even.”

Sergeant Artz nods again, in thought. “I see.”

“Yeah,” you say. “So, being a Witch isn’t being invincible you know. I mean, take away the Striker, I can definitely still block small arms but what use am I for protecting you all?”

The other soldier says, “Well, they say with great power comes great responsibility. I mean, you’re a Witch. You’re practically heroes back home you know?” He laughs a little. “I mean, I used to read stories about Witches, winning wars and fighting evildoers. And now look, I’m standing next to one, I fought alongside one.”

“Well,” all of you turn around to the older soldier whom you mistook for Sergeant Artz. “Make no mistake. The girl is important, but not as a hero. She’s an asset. She’s a weapon of war. To the higher ups, she’s a very powerful but small tank rather than a person.”

Sergeant Artz frowns. “Oh come on, old man.”

He shrugs, looking away. “That’s my opinion. I don’t have anything against Witches, but I know how the Alliance and the Federation uses them.”

Hm. Just a weapon of war, huh.

You leave Sergeant Artz’s squad and head down the trenches. A new depot has been dug in for the lance’s Strikers, where you dismount yours thanks to the help of Steiner.

Steiner says, “Good work out there.”

“Thanks,” you say. You look around. Resting around Erika’s Striker are Erika, Daisy, and Iris. The Rookie is nearby, washing her shorts in a bucket. The blood hasn’t been washed out yet from the ground you see.

Look for the Medic

You decide a walk out of the depot would do you some good. You sigh, it’s already been six months and you’re now dull to it. Used to be a rush of adrenaline that you couldn’t really control after the fact. Now it’s a matter of just trying to keep yourself out of the madhouse. You’ve seen the faces of some poor riflemen. Some with far off stares, others with permanent frowns, some with permanent grins.

That was one surprise you did not need three months ago, you nearly shat your pants at that.

Sawyer told you the effect. It was something the Doctors called “battle fatigue”. Some soldiers can get through it fine, others don’t suffer from it at all, and some just have complete breakdowns. You’re not keen on breaking down thankfully enough, your Father told you what happens in the madhouses.

You’re not keen on getting lobotomized.

You see Sawyer, checking in on a sitting soldier. The soldier’s arm is bloody and the sleeve is torn to shreds. Probably a blast from a mortar.

Sawyer says, “Well, I’m not going to take the arm. Keep it out of the muck and switch out the bandages every few days.” He ties the bandage off. “Come see me or another medic if something feels wrong.”

The soldier nods, looking down. He must be tired. “Thanks, Doc.”

Sawyer stands up, looking to you. He smiles. “Oh, Rosemary. Nice to see you. You hurt?”

A bit tired, maybe. But then again, who isn't?
Combat medics sure have it hard during wartime, often incapable of giving proper treatment due to shortage of supplies or the conditions of the battlefield, forced to do hack jobs (quite literally for those really unlucky) or at least ease the pain for those too far gone. Not to mention everyone crying for "Doc" at all times.

Sawyer nods. “Sure.”

With that, you two take a short walk around, chatting a bit. You say, “I say you back there, treating guys. It must be scary not having a gun or anything.”

“Oh, it’s a scarier thought raising a hand against my fellow man,” he says. “I’m here because I know how to fix people up and because there are lots of people that need fixing up. I’m not here to kill people.”

You nod. “Fair enough, considering you’re in a war and all.”

Sawyer grunts a bit. “Well, I tell you something, Rosemary. I just honestly can’t find myself picking up a gun to kill someone. I’d sooner die.”

“Well, the Federals haven’t shown themselves being particularly dishonorable. They don’t shoot at medics far as I know,” he says. “Believe me, the minute a medic picks up a gun, it’s over for him.”

You ask if there’s any coffee around.

Sawyer says, “If there was, I or Iris Elster probably would have found it. It’s quite the commodity next to porn magazines, alcohol, and cigarettes.”

You nod. “Well, I understand that I suppose.”

“Well, I’ve only ever seen you with porn. I think you’re a bit young for alcohol and cigs, young lady,” says Sawyer.

You frown at him. “You’re four years north of me, don’t go preaching at me! I can smoke if I want to!”

“Sure, sure,” says Sawyer. He laughs a bit, then tousles your hair a bit. You can’t help but blush a little as he does that. You know he means it platonically but boy, those hands of his. “Anyway, I have work to do, people who might need tending. Why don’t you go find yourself a place to rest, alright? Tomorrow might not be easy as today.”

With that, he pats your cheek and walks off. You rub your cheek a bit. He is right, might as well get some rest. But where? Barracks haven’t been set up yet.

>>

Based on what schteel has said, smaller tanks of lesser crew are also overworked as commanders need to double up.

I'm getting that they'll still be overworked in a tank with a smaller crew requirement since its not a matter of available crew vs crew requirement and more crew numbers vs duties

Not entirely MMQ related (at least after this thread), but I'm interested Schteel, are you ever gonna do actual yuri in your quests? As in, something other than 'har har compromising situation, blush, now let's change topics/vaguely allude to bisexuality with no pay-off/talk about how hot dudes are'.
Fair play if you're not, it's not like you have to, but all the teasing that goes nowhere and is basically just fan-service doesn't please either side to be honest. LGA, many of your one-shots (whether they continue or not), parts of this and MGL, all follow this pattern. With Magic Shop quest having actual romance and all, I'm just tired of the wait-and-see routine over and over again. And I don't mean more pastebin smut or zero-substance one-shots, we're talking actual MC romance.

I'd appreciate it if you'd clear it up so I can either stop having a shitty week, or get it over with already and get on with things.
>>
>>32295525
But their using a cromwell at least with a smaller tank it was designed that way. The larger tanks are designed with a larger crew in mind.

or we can stick them in a casemate. It will be easier at least.

Also I think we can do one more conversion before practice.

The ones I'm thinking of is the

Stug III

Sherman M4A3 to Jackson

or the M4A4 to Firefly,

we can have one ready before practice and for the match.

I prefer the Firefly since its cheaper and we can add improved engine and Shurzen to the other tanks

It's interesting that you'd ask. Personally, I'd like to keep romance out of LGA because it's not particularly the point of GuP which is cute girls and tanks. If there is going to be romance in LGA, it'll be either stuffed into the epilogue or in the background with other characters, or played for laughs.

As for other Quests, that's another thing. I am admittedly a fan of /u/ but I try to keep options open for players who want a straight MC or for players who want to go full yuri. For Mecha Musume Quest, it's possible to go either way. For Magical Girl Liberty, not really because romance there isn't particularly the point either.

What does the R stand for?

Also I think maybe we might want to give the Pershing to the Senior Council. They wanted a American tank but after the first practice something with more Dakka. So the Pershing might be a good idea.
>>
>>32295640

Based off our budget and timeframe, we have more time for upgrades.

We can potentially get the firefly and Jackson up before the match.

Maybe even sneak in time for the Sturmpanzer S3 since its only 2k.

>>32295764

Just things I believe we should purchase. R for recommended.
>>
>>32295686
Will there be a time to have a rematch with Ace or a match with St.Glorianna (Or both) before the quest finishes German
>>
>>32295793
Maybe. Depends on how things are scheduled.
>>
>>32295686
Fuck, well at least you're honest. Considering LGA would be basically my perfect quest if it had actual romance, I'm not gonna pretend that's not dispiriting, but ah well.

As for the latter part, that's a terrible idea and I kind of like you less for actually thinking letting players decide where it's going is a good idea. Do you even pay attention to other quests?
>>
>>32295789
true, but I want them familiar with the new gun and practice is on Thursday.

Also I want to save 12K for the 6 pounder Somua after Prvada.

The rest is for add on of Shurzen and improved engine, also maybe if we have some spare cash we can upgrade with Strumpanzer S3 but that also has a lighter gun so I don't know
>>
>>32295831
He mentioned this several times though.
>>
>>32295842

We'll easily get the 12k for the somua after the match. Come monday we get another 30k and we can send the somua to Perrine for the refitting easily.
>>
>>32295686
Nice to know. For me it's just frustrating because all your quests that are serious will have people saying 'romance doesn't belong here' or vote for straight romance, and while I have no issue with them wanting that, or individual quests going that way, every single one of yours being all tease with zero substance/pay-off yuri-wise, whether serial or one-shot, just starts to grate. Especially when the one time you make a male MC, romance is a-go. I'm super jealous of Magic Shop quest.
>>
>>32295863
He several times mentioned it might have romance towards the end too. He's gone back and forth on it. Assuming you're referring to LGA.
>>
>>32295889
What about the practice match with Anzio? or do we let them use the Chi-Ha for that one?

Well I kind of want to upgun one more tank, preferably the M4A4 before practice

but to just improve the tank itself, I'm leaning on the T-34/57 or the M4A1 Sherman
>>
>>32295831
I do follow quite a few Quests. Personally, I'm very big on player agency. Questing is a 50/50 thing, I would be nothing without players.

Thusly, the players have hold over what the MC does, not necessarily what an NPC may do.

>>32295911
I'm actually incredibly surprised Magic Shop went the way it did, I didn't expect people to waifu Garrison that quickly but here we are.

>>32295929
Admittedly, I have flip-flopped on the issue. LGA is running for at least another fourty or so threads, who knows what could happen. I still personally would leave romance either to the very end or to the epilogue.
>>
>>32295911
Umm, a lot of female focused Mcs often go the Yuri route. i'm actually glad this will not be a focus of it (if you mean LGA). Hero Rena quest, MGNQ and a lot of other MG quest have it.
>>
>>32295976
Please to the epilogue
>>
>>32295976
Just leave any romance to the epilogue. Please.
>>
>>32295654
Excel anon, do you have a custom excel for Pravda?
>>
>>32295999
>Hero Quest
Is that a joke? It doesn't have it anyway.
Currently running quests with yuri are MGNQ, Pokemon Quest, and technically Imported Machines but it's real bad, has zero characterization and no players, so it's a non-factor (sad but true). Considering MGNQ runs very rarely and has fucked-up pacing, that leaves one somewhat regular yuri quest.

Quests with straight female MCs include BPQ, Loli STALKER, the KoF quest, the Sailor Moon quest I believe and Hellborn Quest off the top of my head. Probably Sacred Jewel too, being InuYasha and all. Then there's all the non-romantic ones like (now confirmed) LGA and MGL, AoPH (which will almost certainly go straight if there's romance), Oversized Weapon, etc. Preferring not to have yuri is fine of course, but there seriously aren't many around, people should stop parroting this.
>>
>>32295976
Knight was best girl. You just didn't realize it.
>>
>>32295935

Or they can sit it out, in place of a newbie team, either way works.

In any case, after pravda, our focus should be on getting our news tanks up to spec.

Panther chassis, T-34 chassis and Pershing need upgrading and refitting.

>>32296118

What do you mean?
>>
>>32296165
There are a lot on anonkun as well.

Hero Quest has yuri just not Rena. I think the /u/ board had a couple of cyoa for that as well. So it's not technically wrong
>>
>>32296172
I didn't realize how popular she would be. In fact, my earliest drafts of her as a character were mostly just her being a female Gamagoori.

Which actually kind of explains it.

Regardless however, I'm heading to sleep. If anyone has other questions, I'm in the IRC hugbox tomorrow morning usually.
>>
>>32296179
We can elite them if they don't get kills though so it will be better to field them even with the Chi-ha.
>Panther chassis, T-34 chassis and Pershing need upgrading and refitting.
None of them are needed for Pravda.

I'm hoping to with upgrade the T-34/57 to the 1943 model.

or finally get the M4A3 Sherman for our tank.

Someone posted a excel for Chi-ha-tan of their tanks, penetraion armor and tactics,

I thought it was you

Sure, that sounds great and all, but it's a terrible idea for romance in this way. Did the ball in LGA/all the horror-stories from QTG teach you nothing? There will be bitching and arguing, samefagging and more probably. Please have fucking mercy, I can't take any more bisexual/ambiguously sexual MCs Schteel, I've been in a funk and dropped 3 quests for going the wrong way this week, I don't mind getting just shut down so I can give up and leave instead of having to fight tooth and nail to get things my way, ruining the quest for, if not everyone, then at least those on the other side, in the process. Have fucking mercy.
>>
>>32296246
Garrison = Gamagooti.

Gamagoori was cool as fuck, and yes that would explain a lot.

Oh god, now you have me picturing Galena with a second face on her stomach
>>
>>32296266
Which quest were those?
>>
>>32296261
>None of them are needed for Pravda.

Well I did say after pravda and your previous post mentioned anzio so I thought you meant upgrades post-pravda.

For the T-34/57 or our sherman upgrade, I'd say both can be delayed in favour of other upgrades since they're more marginal improvements.
>>
>>32296266
Hellborn, Halfling (didn't exactly have much hope there when it started even, so of course the thread built it up then pulled the rug) and an off-board one.

>>32296210
/u/ and Akun have 2 put together, one which doesn't run often. HQ doesn't count, side-couple and all. It would count more for straight then, really, since MGS/Ben have had more scenes.
>>
>>32296338
But practice is on thursday and I rather not give them a new gun just before the match, so right now we can only do maybe one upgun.

Also I rather save some cash for a couple of Shurzen and improved engines
>>
>>32296388

Well, which upgrades are you looking at then?
>>
>>32296384
But Rena's asexual and but QOTW and Raindrops are a things now, and people are really pushing for Caffine girl and Snake girl. (I forgot how many Pluses are added to her name)

but akun has a lot of yuri regardless, they even have their own board.
>>
>>32296456
Akun had a lot of yuri, though mostly shitty smut quests. They faded out, same as the maudling high-school romance featuring Anme P. Rotagonist, and the monstergirl stories, and there are basically none now. One regular (Evoker), GE runs one session most weekends, of 3 - 4 updates or so, and there's one on extended hiatus that's had a single update in 3 months. That's the extent of it.

Yeah, there's some secondary yuri in HQ, but it's very peripheral and hardly satisfying. Which is fair, since I agree HQ shouldn't be about romance, but you can't have that cake and eat it too by calling it a yuri quest.
>>
>>32296431
Well their marginal upgrade but the M4A3 and the T-34/57, but if you want one which I think might be a slightly better conversion is the Panzer IV to the H model which was the best Panzer IV model
>>
>>32296515
I'm kind of surprised, I thought Yuri was on the uprise on questing recently.

What about Gate? I thought that one was yuri too?
>>
>>32296580
Well it sure is boring at least. And it has like 5 different protagonists too. Last I checked in on it, the current protag was interested in a boy, and considering even the author's MGNQ write-up pretty heavily featured a male best friend, I doubt it's particularly /u/.

I'm hardly gonna claim it's so hard to like yuri and there's nothing at all around, but there's definitely less of it, both in absolute terms and compared to straight FeMC romance, than I can ever remember there being. The only /u/ quests I actually like at the moment are MGNQ and GE, and considering MGNQ has been going on a flashback for over a month, Decu can't run much and the pacing has always been pretty shit (Decu's main weakness), there's not much payoff there. GE runs once a week for a couple updates, and had no session last week. So yeah, there's basically nothing at the moment for me at least.
>>
>>32296665
To be honest, I'm not a fan of yuri based quests but I kind of see your point but I've seen many on anonkun and a few more popping up here on /tg/ but I think in your case it's a matter of the quality of it I guess.

Also about decu, I think he slightly improved (very slightly) in terms of updates, I think its a manner that it seems so long after the updates due to flashback which will be finished soon.
>>
>>32296747
That's fair. As for quality vs quantity, well that's definitely true, but there are still only 3 other yuri quests, Evoker which I'm somewhat burnt out on, Imported Machines which is bad, and anyway it's basically a mechanics quest, and Pokemon quest which is...meh.

Perhaps more pressing though, all these except Pokemon Quest are really old. The three best ones are all 18+ months running at this point. I just wish there was something new, refreshing. But there are none.
>>
>>32296526

Mmm... Actually with the russian tanks we're facing, perhaps we should spend all our cash on spaced armour upgrades.
>>
>>32296834
I guess that fair but LGA I considered as mostly as a Tank simulator quest, One of my main fears when I started this was that if it headed into romance on either side, will be focused on that with little attention to what matter.

I think their may be a few on /d/? I think?

Again, I think it might be on a decline but will rise again sooner or later like any other subject. However, I do think that mostly female MC players often turn to /u/ though its just a matter of the quality your after.

As for the quality I don't know what to tell you
>>
>>32296871
That will be a very costly venture which I'm not sure I approve maybe buy one or two but I rather have improved engines with one upgunning
>>
>>32296943
We can potentially get up to six. Dropping one will allow two engine upgrades. With the calibre of the russians in mind and the want to not give teams different guns, that seems to be the best option for maximum survivability.
>>
>>32296929
No romance is one thing, but tank simulator quest...can't agree on that point at least. While I enjoy the tournament fights, I vastly prefer the general character interaction in LGA over the rote boredom that most of the tankery stuff (and school for that matter) consists of.
>>
>>32296986
Maybe but let's get the map first of the area (which I think will be wendsday), depending on what it is then I may consider up to 4,

However, I want at least one upgun upgrade for Wednesday before practice.

I'm thinking of either the Jackson or Firefly
>>
>>32297054
Oh (most) character interaction is interesting a few of them I can do without but that was mostly due to mood or the situation.

But I like the micromanage and I like making money for the quest.
>>
>>32297106
Well, all power to you, it's not like it's going away at this point.

Anyway, gotta sleep.
>>
>>32297141
