After explaining the situation with Froakie to your companions, you felt the best course of action was to report the stolen loot to the town guard. In the end, they actually gave you a reward for finding the stolen treasure, as well as the stolen money you had returned earlier in the week.

>Current Funds: 785p

You also saw to it that they arranged a proper burial for Froakie’s previous owner. You also decided to take the picture frame, seeing as how it was the only thing Froakie had left of his previous life. The treasure itself was to be returned to the people. They’d return whatever they could, and the rest would be taken as a tax.

After that, Lisa and Lady Shabboneau decided to return to their shopping, and you all prepared for your departure in the morning.

Was there anything else you'd like to take care of before you leave town?

Seeing as you had already acquired most of the supplies you needed, you packed everything you needed in preparation for your trip.

After the morning arrives, you head downstairs for breakfast. Froakie seems to enjoy the wide selection, although you have to admonish him when he uses his tongue to try to snatch food from across the table. He seems to mostly go after the fish, although he seems to enjoy some of the fruits and berries as well.

Soon enough, your group has gathered at the town gate. Lady Shabboneau insisted on taking a carriage, although you managed to convince her that a more simple wagon would draw less attention from bandits. Squire Richard volunteered to steer, since he knew how to handle Ponyta fairly well. You were lucky that two of them would be sufficient to pull all four of you. The small horses were surprisingly strong for their size.

Soon enough, you begin heading along the road westward, heading toward the village near Dent's mill. The pass was one of the few land routes to the center of the region, though it was nearly impossible to cross during winter.

How would you like to pass the time?

"So Lisa," you start, ""Are you happy you decided to come along, so far?"

Lisa pauses a moment as she fiddles with her new necklace. She seems to be looking for the right words.

"Yeah," she replies, "It's been really exciting, although I wouldn't be opposed to a bit more relaxing."

The two of you chat for a bit more about recent events. After the conversation dies down a bit, your resolve to meditate.

It's difficult to get the normal position you use while in this cart, but you manage it once Riolu hops out of your side bag. You also take Froakie off your head and set him down, since he keeps fidgeting. He tries to hop back on a few times, but eventually gets the hint.

As you focus outward with aura, you can see everything a bit more clearly than you could on the ship. You're not sure if it's the area, or if you're just getting better at this. You notice Froakie is exploring the wagon quite thoroughly, while Riolu seems to be joining you in meditation. You attempt to sense emotions, similarly to how you did with Froakie while he was in that bag, although you only feel anything from your two monsters. Putting that mystery aside for now, you begin looking outwards towards the wilderness. Compared to the ship, it's rather lively, with a cacophony of different auras and colors from all the wildlife. You try to pick out individuals from the scene, but most often you end up focused on a tree. As you continue along, the colors start to fade, and the greenery of the forests gives way to the cold rock of the mountains. You blink your eyes open to observe the scene more normally, and you notice there's still a fair amount of snow in the pass. It wasn't too unusual for this time of year, but it wasn't anything that would slow you down.

As the wagon continues along, you glance upward towards the ledges above the pass, eyes peeled for an ambush. You also look with aura, intent to keep your vigil. Soon you spot something perched above.

It resembles some form of cat, although judging by it's size it's most likely a predator. You also get a distinct feeling of malice emanating from it. It reminds you of the glaive blade you decided against buying in your home town.

"Richard!" you call out, "There's a wild monster above us. Can you get us out of here?"

"I'll do my best," he responds, cracking the rains. The Ponyta break into a dash as you keep your eyes on the beast. It deftly leaps over the ridge, swinging the wicked blade on its head menacingly. Suddenly a rush of air whips past the wagon, carving deep gashes in the snow where you just were. The beast then breaks into a run, intent on catching up to you.

You hear a loud rumbling as well, as you look back towards the area where you were before. It seems to be collapsing in an avalanche, although there's enough dirt to call it a landslide.

If this thing could cause avalanches, you needed a plan.

"Lisa!" you cry out, "Can you get a clear-

Before you can even finish your question, it seems Lisa had already loosed an arrow. Your current pace prevents you from seeing the results, although a splash of red in the distance and a cry of pain eases your worries. Just in case, you glance with aura, it seems the thing is still alive, although it doesn't look like it's moving.

"Nice shot!"

Lisa flashes you a smile as she sits back down. Richard slows down the horses from their breakneck pace, going back to a slow trot. Hopefully you didn't run into any more of those things. That one seemed to have it in for you though.

To avoid any other surprises, you decide to spend your time meditating. It would help you look out for any additional threats.

The pass is surprisingly quiet. It makes it easy to focus, especially since Froakie has also calmed down a bit. You may try seeing if he can use aura at some point, but right now you wanted to avoid another attack.

Fortunately, most of the monsters you spot are rather small, and they all seem to have a similar standoffish aura. Occasionally you have Richard steer around one buried in the snow, but so far it seems you're in the clear. The next hour or so is rather uneventful, though you start getting better at differentiating the wild monsters you see.

You notice a rather large number of auras up ahead. You get a similar impression of malice you did earlier, although this time it's paired with something else. Whatever these things are, they aren't the same as the cat you saw earlier.

You have Richard slow down as you approach so you can get a better look. Whatever they are, they're small, clawed, and seem to be waiting in ambush.

Unfortunately, since this was your only way through the pass, you didn't have much choice on how to handle these things.

You and Richard head forth first, while Lisa and Lady Shabboneau wait behind the wagon. Richard unhitches one of the Ponyta from the wagon, patting its snout before drawing his sword. Lisa takes out her bow, and Lady Shabboneau positions herself between Lisa and her Mawile. Froakie and Riolu are accompanying you, although Froakie is cutting a rather wide flank.

In an instant, Lida lets loose an arrow towards one of the small red feathers poking out from behind the rocks. A cry of pain stirs the creatures into action, and a group of dark furred mammals begin dashing towards your group. You count at least a dozen, although the one Lisa hit doesn't seem to be headed for you. Froakie lets lose a cloud of bubbles before leaping into the fray, as Ponyta rears back before spitting embers at some of the outliers. You, Richard, and Riolu move in to engage the rest as Lisa continues firing arrows. A few break off towards your archer, but a sickening crunch signals that Molly is providing defense.

Soon enough, there are only a half dozen of the beasts left, in rather rough shape as well. Fortunately, they seem to be backing off from their attack. As they turn and flee, you breathe a sigh of relief, hoping they wouldn't return.

As you all pile back in the wagon, you notice something. It seems to have begun to snow. It wasn't too strange for this time of year, although it probably did mean you were in a higher point of the pass. Soon enough, you're on your way once more.

As the day drags on, you begin to get worried. The snow seems to be getting worse rather than letting up. Your group begins breaking out their heavier clothing, insulating themselves to the frigid air. As the snow continues to increase in intensity, the going gets slower and slower. While the Ponyta weren't too troubled by the deeper snow, as it mostly melted around them, the wagon wheels occasionally got stuck.

At the current rate, you might not make it to Dent's Mill before nightfall. You needed to figure out something.

At first you have the Ponyta start spraying embers at the snow. This works for a while, although as the snow gets heavier and the Ponyta wear themselves out, your pace slacks once more.

Lady Shabboneau decides to place Molly in the small pink orb she used when the two of you escaped. It helps out with the weight somewhat, although this storm was getting worse by the minute.

At this point you're considering ditching the carriage itself. While it would mean walking, you might make better time. Before you have the chance to ponder it further, you see something approaching you through the snow from up ahead.

A large figure seems to be trudging through the snow, although it's difficult to tell what it is. You glance with aura, and don't like what you see. You call everyone's attention to the monster trudging towards you.

You ready your glaive in your hands. Whatever this thing was, it seemed to be causing this snowstorm. You all ready the same positions as before, though this time Richard lets both the Ponyta off the harness. You'll need the extra firepower if you want to take this thing down.

The wind seems to whip up as the things bellows, sending bits of ice and snow in your groups direction. You're not sure if that was an attack or a battle cry, but you didn't want to wait to find out.

Froakie leaps in first, rushing into close combat. It leaps up onto the beasts arm, before scrambling up its head. Unfortunately, it's punches don't phase the thing much, and it flings him off to the side.

Lisa let's fly a number of arrows, although the heavy winds seem to be blowing most of them off course. A few seem to stick into the beast's coat, although it doesn't show any sign of injury.

You, Richard, and Riolu then charge in alongside the Ponyta, who blast out with a shower of sparks. The flames lick at the abomination, as it lurches away from the heat. Riolu takes the opportunity to land a few strikes, which seems to do a bit better than Froakie.

As you and Richard move in on opposite sides, the beast bellows once more, a large cloud of icy wind stinging against your skin. Luckily your heavier clothing protected you, although it seems Riolu took a bit of damage

>Riolu HP 16/20

Before you can squeeze in a counter attack, the creature barrels forward towards the two Ponyta, you watch as it wildly swings its arm towards the pair. The first nimbly dodges out of the way, but the second is sent careening backwards. A quick check with aura reveals its still alive, but it doesn't seem to be getting up.

"Riolu!" you shout over the din, "Help Ponyta!"

Riolu barks in response, dashing over to the fallen steed. A faint glow begins to appear as the healing starts.

Riolu HP 15/20

Richard dashes in to get the beasts attention, deflecting the hammering blows with his shield. The other Ponyta takes the opportunity to let loose more bursts of flame.

Seizing the moment, you dash in with your glaive, hoping to deal some damage. You swing low at one of it's legs, hoping for a solid cut. What you didn't expect is your blade cleanly slicing through, almost as though it was passing through air.

The beast bellows out in pain as you glance at it's fresh stump. It's insides resemble a plant more than a beast. Your eyes widen in shock as the wound seems to be sealing itself, albeit slowly. In the meantime, it starts flinging shards of ice haphazardly while unable to move.

At this point, the other Ponyta is standing, though it still seems weak. Froakie has rejoined the fray, although he's mostly splashing water in the things eyes.

You might actually be able to take this thing out.

Your glaive has been working well so far, so you quickly rush in and go for its hand. You grin as you feel the edge of your blade connect with the arm, although your excitement fades as you notice a blue glow emanating from its mouth. You raise your guard as quickly as you can manage, though the ray still feels as though it chilled your very bones.

It looks like this thing wasn't as week as it seemed, despite a missing leg. You attempt to stand, but find your shoulder has been frozen to a nearby rock. As you chip away at the ice, you watch your friends fight on. Both Ponyta are upright now, using their speed to their advantage. Richard is still trying to deflect as many blows as he can, though it seems to be wearing on him.

Lisa had continued landing her shots, although she had since slowed her rate of fire. The creature was starting to resemble a pincushion but seemed no worse for wear.

You noticed Molly off to the side, seemingly debating what to do against the massive beast. You doubt she was used to any sort of fighting other than eating small things whole.

You slip your dagger out of your pocket as you begin chipping your way out of the ice. You look onward as your group tries to make headway, though the blasts of frost are becoming more and more frequent. The Ponyta are spitting out fire less and less frequently. They certainly weren't trained for combat, and they've been doing this for some time. Fortunately that also means the beast is focusing less of its attention on them. Unfortunately, Richard isn't having much luck. Each time he tries to close the distance to strike, the beast hammers against his shield.

You grit your teeth as you approach the beast from behind. It is intently focused on Richard, and it doesn't notice your movement towards it's back.

You level your glaive, moving in and slashing its raised arm, preventing it from slamming it down onto Richard's shield.

As it wheels about to face you, Richard takes the opening to hack at it's other hand. While it doesn't cut clean like your glaive, he manages to get the blade stuck, forcing the beast to divide it's attention between you and it's caught arm.

As you position yourself to avoid any further ice attacks, you continue cutting into the thing, although you don't feel like you're making much progress. It continues trying to twist and flail to strike you, although with a missing leg and one arm, it's not having much luck. Just as you're wondering when this thing will go down, you realize it's stopped moving.

It's eyes seem closed, and it's fur it covered with cuts. In spite of this, it seems to have remained mostly upright. You're not quite sure if it's dead or not, though a quick look with aura seems to suggest that it perished at some point during your onslaught.

Loading up the wagon, you continue on your way through the pass. The snow seems to be dying down, which makes the going a bit easier.

It's nightfall by the time you arrive at Dent's Mill. It was a rather small farming community, without anything too exciting. The town's biggest feature was a large windmill, named after the ancestor of the major landowner of the farms here.

Unfortunately, there weren't any estates or manors in this town, so your group is forced to stay the night at the local inn, which doubles as the town's tavern. Lady Shabboneau covers the bill for the rooms, as well as the fee for stabling your horses. She purchased to rooms, sharing hers with Lisa, and giving the other to you and Richard.

With all that has occurred today, you quickly fall asleep, ignoring how stiff the mattress feels.

Looking around the room, it seems Richard has woken up before you, since he isn't in the room. Froakie also seems to have worked his way out of the smaller bedding you set out for him and into yours.

The three of you head downstairs, finding your friends sitting around waiting on breakfast to be served. It's rather average food, although it is warm, which is all you really need after that blizzard.

After you eat, you discuss the next leg of your journey. You'll be headed along the river in order to reach Lumiose city, the capital. It wasn't nearly as cold in that region, so you were probably safe from any sudden snowstorms.

"So Richard," you begin, "I haven't had a good chance to speak with you. I was wondering who you're the Squire of?"

"Hmm? Oh, that," he replies, "Didn't you meet him? Sir Davis of Harrowfield, I mean. He was there at the mines when those two monsters fought."

"Right."

"You should have seen him in action," Richard continues, "He's one of the best knights in the land. I was really lucky to be able to get him to teach me. I'm still a pretty long ways off though."

"I don't know about that, you did block two dozen blows from a giant tree monster."

"Yeah, but you were the one who killed it after that."

You consider mentioning that your glaive was what helped you do that, although it might not be a good idea to bring up. You decide to shift topics.

"So, anything we can be expecting on the road here?"

"Nothing too bad. Some rather annoying birds from what I recall. That is, unless you mean the rumors."

"Rumors?"

"They say that deep in the woods live a secret coven of witches, and I mean full blown witches. The kind that will suck out your soul and put it into a doll to play with, or cut you up and stick your body parts into jars. I wouldn't worry too much though. They are rumors, after all."

Well, as long as the tales made up to scare little children didn't turn out to be real, you felt as though this trip would be much more relaxing than the first. As you consider what to do with your time, you feel as though giving your monsters some combat practice might be a good idea. You pluck Froakie off your head and take Riolu out of his pouch.

"Alright, you two. I think it'd be a good idea for you both have a sparring match. It'll help me learn what you can do, and give you guys a chance to get some exercise. Just be sure not to hurt each-other badly, and don't stray to far from the wagon.

The two nod before leaping down to the ground, assuming their stances.

Froakie is the first to move, letting lose a stream of bubbles towards Riolu. He dodges backwards, though as he does so Froakie quickly dashes towards him, striking him with his webbed hands.

Riolu takes the hit against his wrists, using the hard surface to protect him. In an instant, he then takes Froakie's momentum and uses it to slam him back down, thoough Froakie quickly recovers.

He tries to lash out with his tongue, although Riolu rushes him before he has a chance to land his attack. At this point Froakie is rather panicked, and begins fleeing while letting loose a cloud of bubbles to cover his retreat. Riolu closes his eyes however, and you can see as he closes the gap. Moving into striking distance, he thrusts his paw forward, and strikes Froakie. The frog then flops over onto the ground , either to hurt or too exhausted to continue.

Riolu carries him back to the wagon, applying his healing ability to his opponent.

You get the distinct feeling that Riolu is much better in a straight fight than Froakie, although whether it's due to their fighting style or experience you can't say.

You give Froakie a chance to rest as you consider how best to teach him about aura. While you could have him simply meditate, he was a bit to impatient for that. Plus, your recent attempt with Lisa proved that most people can't see Auras anyway.

You could, however, transfer general feelings using your healing ability. It only worked with Froakie and Riolu so far, but it could be useful. Perhaps if you channeled the feelings his aura displayed, he could try and focus on that to manipulate his own Aura.

You start by giving Froakie a general explanation of Aura. He seemed rather bored by it, but he was tired enough from his sparring that he was willing to pay attention.

The next step was using your aura vision to look at Froakie's Aura. You make sure to take note of all the little details. It's similar to other water types you've seen, although there's a fair bit of mischief in there as well.

Once you had it, you placed your hand on his head, channeling the emotion into him. Froakie closed his eyes as he tried to use the connection to manipulate his Aura.

Wow, Ciel has an really strong connection to the Aura in general. It's weird, Jirachi's crystal pretty much presented itself in us, and now we just taught a frog how to Aura without much effort.
>>
>>32273985
Personally, I think it might be a Deoxys crystal, but that's just my guess.
>>

"Certainly," she says, "Although I'm not sure how much I can help you with that. As I mentioned earlier, the crystal might relate to a legend about the stars. Specifically a star that appears in the sky only once every thousand years.Supposedly, one of the servants of Arceus resides on that star, and possesses the power to grant ones desires."
From this, it suggests it's Jirachi.

Ah right, knew I was forgetting something when I posted that. 'Course, its still possible since we're dealing with myths and legends and whatnot, but your right, more likely Jirachi with that info.

As you watch using your Aura vision, you see Froakie's aura waver about. It seems like he's successfully manipulating it, although you're not sure to what degree.

After a few moments, you notice something else. A small blue ring of his aura seems to be forming just outside of his mouth. It's looks quite wavy and unstable, almost like it could fall apart at any moment. You briefly consider what that means, focusing on how it's somewhat similar to how he uses his bubbles.

As you focus on the ring more and more, it seems to become more and more stable. It's almost as though your concentration is filtering through Froakie and improving his focus. Soon enough you're left with a bright blue spinning ring.

Gently you angle Froakie's mouth away from the wagon, just to make certain he doesn't damage it. Froakie was certainly maintaining the ring, although now you had hit a problem. You weren't quite sure how to launch aura. Since you'd already made a lot of progress, you decide to let Froakie try and sort it out himself. You give him a feedback for what the ring currently looks like. You watch as he tries intently to make the ring move, although it doesn't seem like he's having much success. After a few more moments, the effort subsides, though he maintains his focus.

You're a bit disappointed that you didn't manage to get him to learn an attack, although this was still major progress. Froakie seems to consider your thoughts, and opens his eyes before suddenly leaping up from his spot. He heads straight for a nearby tree branch, and he launches headfirst into it, crashing the aura ring into the branch. It ripples on impact, snapping the branch apart. Froakie leaps back into your arms, and you pat his head, congratulating him for his efforts.

>Froakie has learned Water Pulse I

You'll need to work on some way to launch it in the future, but that won't really happen until you manage it yourself.

It's around midday when you finish training with Froakie. Your group stops for lunch shortly afterwards, just before you enter a section of forest.

Now seems like a good time to try and figure out how to get more distance using your aura abilities. Although currently the only one you could really try that with was your healing, since you hadn't really learned how to preform any aura attacks, and there was no sense trying to learn two things at once.

You start by focusing on something to heal. Froakie is still somewhat worn out from all his training, so you set him up on the other side of the wagon as you focus.

Currently your healing only functions from direct contact, although you should be able to project it just as well as any other aura ability.

As you focus, you extend your palm, trying to expel the same wave you use for healing. You feel the energy trickling out from your hand, though it seems almost as though it's dissipating once it leaves your body. It's almost as though the energy will only travel well within a body.

Maybe something with the shape of your hand had to do with it? You try flexing your fingers in different patterns. It seems to work slightly better when your fingers are together, but it doesn't seem to be fixing it.

You're not sure quite what to change, although you're getting worn out from using this much aura. As you cease, you slump back in your seat to take a quick nap.
