That's not odd. Mirror Spear let slip that Mirror Shield is planning something so it isn't odd that the methodology differs.

If it wasn't obvious by the looks we're getting, if it's her, she's specifically targetting us. So it's a good thing we aren't running off.

You sigh, Aomi has this under control, maybe, and there isn't anything you can do except wait and possibly look for a place to transform. You notice a thirteenth girl among the crowd, probably to stop you from doing just that. You stand besides Meiya as the both of you finish seeing the match between the punk and her. While it was pretty evenly matched before right now Momoko is destroying him. She has pretty much figured out all his tricks and even his good dodging won't save him as Momoko seems to have got that down too.

"Frankly, I didn't expect for there to be such skillful in this tournament." She smiles as she says this.

"Oh you thought it was going to be easy? Not everything is that easy." You say while keeping your eyes on her sword.

"You seem to have taken a liking for my weapon. It's some of the finest blades around today." She says proudly.

"Really? To a girl like you? You know Katanas are really brittle? If you want to really cut something lots of times you're better off going european steel Like a long sword or a bastard sword, even a proper rapier." You say.

"You are quite knowledgeable, I trained with this word and this is what I prefer. A good hit with this one can sever bone and it isn't as heavy as its european counterparts." She says.

"I prefer more reliable weapons." You say

She looks at you strangely, "I feel like you talk from experience."

She smiles and finishes watching Momoko's fight. It looks like you're going to be fighting her in the finals.

She approaches you two, apparently there is going to be a break before the final. Meiya goes off on her own, probably to go talk to some of the students she came along with. She waves you two goodbye.

It seems to me like this is probably Mirror Shield's doing, but that doesn't mean these girls have any powers aside from standing around and looking creepy. They might be mirror doubles of ordinary people. Or they might be ordinary people under some hoodoo effect.

As much as it's probably our first instinct, now is not the time to start a fight.

You point out the girls and wait patiently, Momoko is really calm considering the situation. "They haven't done anything yet. Maybe they're trying to creep us out?" Or maybe intimidate you all into doing something. While you wait you try to figure out which one is their leader to no avail. They don't move their mouths so maybe they're organizing themselves some other way?

Some of the normal interact with the girls and even so they don't talk but instead do some acrobatics and let their picture be taken. As you look around there always seems to be one that turns her head away as soon as you turn to her. These girls are weird.

Aomi walks up to you looking pale, she doesn't say anything and just hands you her phone. THe messaging app is open with a conversation with Misa.

Momoko is still catching up to you when you see the idiot asshole kid try to charge right past one of the masked girls who simply sidesteps and effortlessly trips him. And with the sound of glass scraping against glass her hand breaks and reforms into a large sword and puts it against his neck.

"Stay." She says to the now terrified boy. And before he can scream she kicks him on his side with what it seems all her strength and sends him flying a good two meters from where he stood. By the sound of it she probably broke a lot of ribs on the kid.

That means that the tournament is canceled for now.

You gulp. They didn't move much faster than a normal person but they're at least as strong as a bodybuilder. You don't even notice the horrified expressions of the people around you, including Momoko's. You can do something about it but it would mean transforming. Beating them in pure strength would require you to fully transform, you can't reach that level of strength magically alone.

In the terrified crowd you see many faces glaring, most of them from the tournament. Among them is Meiya and that orange haired punk. Meiya's hands are on her sword, gripping it until her knckles are white and the punk is tightening his fists in much the same manner.

They're pissed off.
