Characters and Gunpla: http://pastebin.com/tNr0mtYH

You are JACK FOULKE, an amateur Gunpla Fighter with dreams to make your own mark on the Gunpla battle scene!

Currently, you're participating in a local Gunpla tournament, in the 3v3 bracket. However, your sister Holly is also in the same tournament, in the 1v1 bracket. After winning your semifinal match, you decided to go check in how Holly is doing.

However, to your surprise, you find that you might possibly know who your opponent is.

Then again, a lot of people liked using red zakus. Char was a pretty popular character after all.

"Jack? Is something wrong?" Holly asks.

>Warn her that her opponent is probably going to be the toughest opponent she's faced yet.
>Don't worry her unnecessarily. You don't have any proof, anyways.

Just tell her to go out there and have fun. Doesn't matter if she wins or loses here. Really this her first tournament, there's no need to be 'your going lose' or 'your going to have a hard fight.'

Every fight has chance of winning or losing, being tough or easy. It doesn't matter at the end. What matters if Lil'sis had fun or not.

"Red Zaku. That's always trouble. But don't worry. Defeating it... that's about to become a family tradition. Either way, have fun."

Wish her luck. Sure, red Zaku's tend to be fast as hell (though I'd assume there are a few out there that play against type just to trip people up), but so is the Super Ball. Just go in there, battle as best you can, and have fun. It's probably not going to be some unstoppable super unit.

Speaking of unstoppable super units, did anyone catch the stream of Unicorn Episode 7 that was posted on /m/? Jesus, that final power up. I really hope the Unicorn in the school club that we'll someday have to face doesn't have all those psychoframe tricks. I really hope so.

Kinda wish we had a Gouf, just so that we could NO ZAKU.

That said, since everyone has a big hard-on for grunt suits, what about the Gundam Mk. II, I means it's pretty much the Grunt Gundam in Zeta

"You want to be careful around this one." You warn rather vaguely. "Char clones are almost never good news."

"Yeah, yeah, I've seen all the replays of them." Holly rolls her eyes. "It'll be fine."

"Ladies and gentlemen, the match is about the start." The referee announces. "I would like to ask non-participants to please back away from the battle table."

You catch the stinkeye from the referee and quickly comply with his orders, stepping back to put space between yourself and Holly.

BEGINNING PLAVSKY PARTICLE DISPERSAL

FIELD: COLONY

The field materializes, generating one of those large, iconic cylindrical colony structures. Both the Zaku and Holly's Ball are deployed on the exterior, in the vacuum of space. Immediately, Holly's Ball jets off into space away from the colony and starts spitting beam rifle fire at the Zaku. Good call.. The Ball had the advantage in open space.

However, the Zaku pilot, as you suspected, didn't seem to care. It's own boosters flared as it launched into space after the Ball, responding with a torrent of automatic fire from its machine gun. While Holly was doing a good job of dodging the shots, all the extra movement was hurting her accuracy, too. However, she was still doing a decent job of keeping one step ahead of the Zaku, but only barely. It was starting to become clear that the other fighter was way more experienced than Holly, and could accurately predict her moves, responding in a way where it could gain some ground. Every turn and quick change of direction, and the Zaku edged ever closer.

"THE 3v3 FINALS WILL BEGIN IN TEN MINUTES. ALL FINALISTS ARE TO REPORT TO TABLE SIXTEEN." You hear the intercom buzz.

Crap.

>You still got ten minutes. Let's see how this plays out.
>You better get going. You don't want to risk getting disqualified.
>Other
>>
>>32169747
Panzerfausts mean nothing. The Unicorn can tank colony lasers now. And it doesn't even need weapons, it just disintegrates its targets with a wave of its hand. Plus the NT-D has expanded to the point it can control any machine, not just funnels. Straight up shuts down an entire fleet. It's ridiculous. And all Full Frontal gets to take it on with is a bunch of beam cannon arms and an (admittedly totally badass) disruption field that causes E-Caps to detonate.
>>
>>32169789
Why not the Gundam Ground type, we can merge parts of it into the GM, or upgrade it into a GMII since the parts are similar.

Holly will understand. Wish her luck and then be on our way. As for the possibility of Charlotte...well, it's not like we'd have time to catch up with her anyway. We can watch a replay of the match later if we want to analyze her style and compare it to the footage online.

How about we, if we do end up upgrading for a mid-season deal, pick a Gunpla that's meant to symbolize what we and our team stand for in Gunpla Battle? Fun, enjoyment of Gundam and what that entails, and so on.

We go old-school. We go RX-78-2. Maybe Forever Gundam, or Nu Gundam with the funnels stripped off to make it look more like RX-78-2 while still retaining the Psychoframe. Plus, it plays nicely into the destined rivalry schtick.

"Did I miss anything?" You ask.

"Not much. Looks like our fellow opponents haven't quite arrived yet."

"You know, guys, I think we should try using some of this time to plan." Amy points out.

Hm, she was right. Unlike your previous opponents, you knew exactly what Lucina, Mac, and Jake's Gunpla were capable of. But, the problem was they also knew what your Gunpla were capable of as well.

"I was thinking that, too." Karen nods. "You'll have to be doubly careful, then. Your suit isn't equipped to handle close combat as ours are, and if you stray too far from the battle..."

"...I'll make myself a target. Yeah, I know." You nod. "I understand the risks."

You then see your opponents and friends arrive, with drinks and food. Damn, you should have thought of that. Maybe after you win this.

"Hey man, good luck." Mac says.

"I look forward to this battle." Lucina says politely.

"Same." You grin.

"Okay, now that all fighters are present, we will be beginning the 3v3 Finals!" The referee announces. "Fighters, place your GP Bases and gunpla!"

The six of you set down your GP Bases and gunpla on the table, and it hums to life.

BEGINNING PLAVSKY PARTICLE DISPERSAL

FIELD: FOREST

The moment the field materializes, you, Karen, and Amy jet forward, weaving back and forth through the trees. You were pretty lucky to get this field, since the trees would hide your position and make it harder for Jake to spot you. However, that didn't mean you still couldn't be taken out by a lucky shot.

"We should spread out to minimize damage in case they try to shell us." Karen says. "We can't afford to have the entire team taken out by a lucky shell."

Didn't you hear about if any of our units stray off their easy pickings for the Guntank?

Also we're in a forest area so no matter how high the Ball is, it won't work.

Also we have enhanced senors so staying in a loose formation while using the sensor to detect an ambush or attack will be better
>>
>>32170877
It should work in the forest, why wouldn't it thats the reason we have it to pick up threats in a increased range.

Only reason I don't see it working if the Mobile Suits the other team is using is using some sort of Chaff or Polasky Particles to disturb the sensors.
>>
>>32170877
Depends on the kind of sensors and the computer equipment that's modeled on the...model.

Low level ground to ground or ground to air search radar have been notoriously prone to "clutter," from reflected rays bouncing off of..everything.

But this is the ~future~, so I don't know how this applies.

Additionally, could be a broad band of equipment. Thermal wouldn't penetrate that deep, and neither would ultrasound, but infrasonic might.

I don't know how the TUSKER rolls, but I feel pretty confident in saying there's a probably a ton of sub 10-hertz frequencies coming off of it, and those things TRAVEL.

We're talking like several miles worth of distance given sufficient power (which seems reasonable...it's a big boy).

tl;dr: Maybe?
>>
Rolled 15, 16 = 31

>>32170674
"We should spread out." You say. "Seems to be the safer option."

"Agreed." Karen says. "Put some distance between each other, but try and maintain visual contact if at all possible. I don't want us getting separated.

Karen and Amy move forward a bit while you fall behind a little. While the forest was great cover, it also meant you couldn't see very well, either. You try pinging your radar a couple of times, but the ground clutter is just too great. You'd have to get up above the trees to effectively use it, but that was a HUGE risk.

Rockets. Lots of them.

You guess that with no clear target, Jake just took the logical conclusion and decided to just blanket the entire damn area in ordnance.

"ROCKETS INCOMING!" You yell.

"I see them!" Karen says.

"That is a LOT." Amy whimpers.

You quickly go through your options. You can try to boost above the trees to make it easier to dodge or intercept the incoming rockets, but that would be exactly what Jake wanted, to flush you out of cover. On the other hand, rockets were unguided and not very precise. If you hunker down, you might be able to weather it out.

So did we block the shots or did the shots completely miss us by our outline?
>>
You know, I don't get it. I mean, I DO get the grunt love, because come on, a lot of grunt designs in Gundam are sexy, but I don't get the whole grunt dick-riding.

Once we beat the pants off of those Optimized Build Gunpla Club faggots, I'd like to see us expand beyond using Grunt suits. Don't get me wrong, I wanna get as much mileage out of the GM Juggler because it is effectively our Fenice, but we gotta switch things up now and then.
>>
>>32171386
Rockets land all around as explosions and shrapnel cause your entire gunpla to shudder. The rocket barrage couldn't have lasted more than a few seconds, but it felt like hours. Finally, the explosions begin to whittle away until finally, the entire field is silent once again. You have your gunpla stand up and you perform a quick system diagnostic. And... you're completely fine. Sure, your armor was scorched and singed and riddled with countless pits and dents from shrapnel, but it was otherwise cosmetic damage.

"Karen, Amy, you guys all right?" You ask.

"Y-yeah." Amy stammers, still a bit shaken from the artillery barrage. "Just minor hull damage."

"I'm afraid my Overflag didn't fare quite as well." Karen sighs. While her gunpla looked fine, you noticed the movements were slightly erratic and jerky. "I think some of my joints were damaged in that barrage."

That was unfortunate, but there was nothing you could do about it now. However, you did have something to take from this. When you looked up, you managed to see the arc the rockets were taking, so you now had a rough idea of where Jake was. Even if he did reposition, there was little chance he'd be able to move far in a big heavy gunpla like his unless he went into Breacher mode.

>Move to Jake's position. Mac and Lucina will for sure come to engage you.
>Continue to hunt for Mac and Lucina. You might be able to get the drop on them.

I'm good with whatever. But honestly, I really hope that we do a fair bit of kitbashing and stuff. Using base chassis with modifications here and there is probably the surest and safest way to go, but it's not often that we get a chance to experiment with a wide range of model kits. It'd almost be a shame to not stretch the limits of Gunpla and see what wondrous and/or terrible creations that could be wrought.

I agree on gotta switch things up now and then... but IMO grunts suit provide more challenge for us to optimize them. Renato Brothers and Meijin basically use grunt suits and they come quite far.
If we want to use Gundam, i vouch for OYW era gundam or RX-78.

I never said anything about Gundams, genius. But seriously? You don't want to use Gundams because they're mainstream? Because they're "not creative" as an upgrade?

Dude, we're a kid with imagination and creativity out the wazoo. We could take ANY sort of Mobile Suit, Grunt, Limited Production MS, Gundam, or otherwise, and make it ten times as awesome simply by virtue of having poured our heart and soul into building it.

What the Mobile Suit is isn't what matters; it's what we make it INTO, and what we do with it that does.

"Heh, Jake just revealed his position. If we head for him now, we can probably catch him. Best case, we get him alone and unsupported and we can take him out. Worst case, Mac and Lucina are forced to engage us to protect him."

"That's a good plan." Karen says. "But time is a factor, too. That MLRS has an exceedingly long range, and I doubt we can cover that distance quickly on foot."

"We can try boosting there?" Amy suggests.

You try to duck and cover again, and for the most part, it works. However, near the end of the barrage, your shield takes a direct rocket hit, shattering your protective barrier like glass. The shockwave knocks you on your back, though your Balls sort of cushion your fall. You test your hand controls, and fortunately, it still seems to function fine. You toss away the melted remains of your shield.

"Jack, are you okay?" Karen asks.

"Yeah, I just lost my shield." You sigh.

"We must be close, judging from the angle of those rockets." Karen says. "Let's keep moving."

You trudge through the forest for another minute or so and finally your radar seems to be picking something up. Something big and metallic, but with all the ground clutter, you can't accurately judge its exact position. Only that it's close.

"I think I got a location on Jake." You say.

"Well, it looks like it's time to kick the hornet's nest." You say, detaching your Balls. They both hover in the air for a second as you give them instructions. One Ball goes left while the other goes right before breaking the treeline and heading straight for Jake's position, their autocannons and beam rifles firing at will.

Suddenly, there's a flash as Lucina's Exia leaps out of trees and slashes one of your Balls in half.

"There she is!" You say.

Meanwhile, your other Ball continues on towards Jake. You can hear the booming of heavy artillery cannons, but you made sure to instruct to Ball to stay as low to the ground as possible.

>>
>>32172461
You let Karen and Amy go off to tangle with Lucina. They're better suited for that sort of fight, anyways. What really got you worried was that Mac didn't show himself. He could be sitting back in reserve, either to protect Jake or try and ambush Karen or Amy. Well, you weren't going to let that happen.

A quick status check of your Ball shows that it's still active and dodging cannon fire. However, it still can't get a clean fix on Jake's position, but it's narrowing it down.

What you need to do, though, is find Mac.

Jake's too busy fighting our Ball, if he shifts his attention away, His guntank will be riddled with Autocannon and Beam Rifle blasts
>>
>>32172968
He could very well take a moment of time to dispense some indiscriminate justice on our spot. I imagine he could take at least one or two shots before having to go back the smacking that ball around. And I prefer not to eat any of those shells.
>>
>>32172986
He could probably tank the autocannon fire, but the beam rifle(s) are serious business.

Doesn't wanna be getting shot at by those for longer than he has to be.
>>
>>32172986
During that time it will get hit with the beam cannon or autocannon, also he doesn't know where we are. So any indiscriminate bombardment (If he has any missiles left) will be very inaccurate
>>
>>32173015
The 'draw him out' option would be a giant shoot me here sign.
>>
>>32173000
Are the beam rifles really one shot one kill? That much damage from one?
>>
>>32173015
How tough is a guntank thingy any way? Like would a few seconds of autocannon + beam fire be enough to slag it?
>>
>>32173022
Depends on what drawing him out will be, I just hope we can just use our rifle to hit the Guntank to draw him.

also refer to this

>>32173000
It will be even worse if we hit the ammunition storage or something as well.

>>32173035

>>
>>32173035

>>32173043
Well the guntank can probably shrug off the Autocannon blast for a good while but the Beam Cannon can ignore any armor the guntank has and a direct hit will be very bad.
>>
>>32172881
You might as well try to draw Mac out. If he doesn't do anything, his team is basically going to get ripped apart. A quick check on Karen and Amy shows that they're still holding up against Lucina. However, it's clear that the damage Karen's Overflag suffered earlier is impacting her fighting ability, and Amy simply can't match Lucina in a straight up melee fight. Lucina meanwhile has both her GN Blade and beamsaber out in each arm, wildly blocking and parrying the flurry of attacks her two opponents were throwing her way.

Meanwhile, you break the treeline and start shooting beam rifle fire at where you think Jake is.

You see your camera feed shudder and shake from numerous weapon impacts, and your damage warning system shrieks. You raise your left arm in a reflex in an attempt to protect yourself, but all you see is your left arm literally dissolve in front of your eyes, Several bullets impact into your torso, gouging deep rents and holes into it. A stray round literally gouges a chunk of your head off, as well. The force the attack also temporarily knocks your boosters offline and fall back to the ground.

All in exactly twelve shots.

You see Mac's Super Maxter materialize from the trees, its two Colt Single Action Army pistols smoking. With a flick of its wrists, the chambers of both revolvers flip out, belching out the spent shells.

The Super Maxter then holsters one of the revolvers and loads the other one. Yeah, typical Mac.

Your grip on your beam rifle instinctively tightens as both your GM-Juggler and Mac's Super Maxter glare at each other.

After this tournament I come to the conclusion of several upgrades will benefit the GM and Balls from the battles we had.

From what we have in the shop so far here is what I suggest.

Panzerfaust - $50 X 6 (3 for each ball): During our fight with the mobile armor while our beam cannon and autocannon dented the armor, it might have been better to have a more powerful weapon, also since these don't take up a hardpoint they will be useful.

Chobham Shield - $100 (For our GM) Since our fight with the Char's Zaku and now, our shield while defending us well, can only take so much punishment. This upgrade will come in handy during more melee intensive fights.

Rocket Booster - $300 X 3 (For our GM and our Balls) For obvious reasons then the rest.

Time seems to slow down as you raise your rifle. Each second is an agonizing eternity as your rifle sights in on Mac, but you can tell that you were going to get your shot off before Mac, but only barely. You pull the trigger and suddenly the world speeds back up to normal time. Your pink beam lances out and strikes the Maxter in the left shoulder, completely obliterating it and sending the Maxter reeling, throwing off its aim.

Once again, both of you aim your respective weapons and fire. You can almost swear you see both your shots pass by each other in the air. However, whereas Mac's bullet ricochets off your shoulder, your beam gets a clean hit right on his head. There's a brief secondary explosion, and the Maxter topples over.

You sigh in relief. You managed to win that one, barely. You finally check on your status again and frown. the furious melee battle was still going on, but you can see all three suits were clearly showing wear. Amy's Deathscythe was missing an arm, while the Exia had numerous cuts and punctures in its armor, no doubt caused by Karen, who still seemed to be in good shape, but her movements were getting even more sluggish.

Meanwhile you check on your last remaining Ball but get no signal. You don't see any indication that Jake is active, though.

One Roll Engine. A neat little system using D10s. You want a set of matching dice on your roll. The number of dice that match(the width) represents how well you did. The number on those dice (the height) determines issues of luck and placement. So, for example, in combat a 2x10 roll does two points of damage to the head (not inconsiderable, seeing how a normal human only has four wound levels in their head).
>>

You decide to go look for Jake. Checking to make sure you beam rifle is charged, your damaged GM limps into the forest. You try checking your sensors, but they're totally shot. Not like they were doing much good this match, anyways.

It's then that you see trees snapping and falling over a couple hundred meters ahead of you. That could only mean Jake was on the move, and he was headed for the melee. No doubt he was trying to get closer for a better shot. Since you can't see he suit itself, that meant he had to be in Breacher mode, meaning he could seriously turn up the speed if he wanted to.

>>32174880
>>32174881
>>32174887
Your shot is exactly dead on, and it hits home and true. The moment TUSKER appears from the trees, you fire your beam rifle right when Jake fires his dual cannons. You can literally see the two 180mm shells whizz by both sides of your head as they overshoot and land behind you, exploding and showering you with shrapnel, dirt, and wood splinters. However, your shot doesn't miss. It drills straight through the TUSKER and apparently hit something important, as the entire gunpla literally EXPLODES, buffeting your GM with fire and chunks of Gunpla.

BATTLE ENDED

You blink as the battlefield dissolves away, and you see that Lucina had finally gone down to Karen and Amy's combined assault. The Exia certainly went down fighting, having cut off the Overlfag's head while Amy stabbed it from behind, the end of it her scythe jutting out of the Exia's chest.

WINNER: TEAM OBSIDIAN

There's a roar of applause as the gathered crowd cheers at the end of the battle.

"Congratulations!" One of the organizers smiles and shakes your hand. "You're this tournament's 3v3 champions!"

You see another organizer handing Karen a large trophy, as well as several slips of paper. You show your sportsmanship by shaking the hands of your opponents, and then all group for a celebratory picture.

However, you aren't the only event going on today, as the 1v1 bracket is still going strong, and the crowd begins to disperse.

"I gotta hand it to, Mac, that was a pretty ballsy thing to do." You chuckle as you brofist your best friend.

"Yeah, well, I knew you wouldn't be able to resist. Plus I really wanted to see which one of us was faster on the draw." Mac laughs.

"Damnit, Mac, you know I'm always the better shot." You shake your head.

"That you are." Mac nods.

"Hey, Lucina, so how did it feeling having to take Karen and Amy on at once?"

"Very exciting." Lucina smiles. "It's not something that happens often, you know. Karen as always is a formidable fighter."

"What about Amy?"

"Mmmm, I think Amy still needs a bit more practice. Plus I don't get why people like scythes so much. They're very unwieldy weapons."

"HEY! I heard that!" Amy pouts.

"And I guess we gave you a hard time, huh Jake?"

"Yeah, I guess the field kinda screwed us over." Jake shrugs. "Was trying wide area bombardments, but of course, those don't do much against properly disciplined enemies."

"Still, you really scared the shit outta me when you charged like that. If I had shot any later, my Gunpla would probably be paint on the ground. Um, sorry about your Guntank, by the way."

"Ah, it's nothing. I can fix it." Jake shrugs.

"So, Karen, what are our winnings?" You ask.

"Well, we get 10,000 Bandai Points for 1st place, while Lucina's team gets 5,000 for second place."

"Bandai Points?" You raise an eyebrow.

"Well, we're still technically underage, so they can't very well give us actual cash." Karen explains. "Besides, they're redeemable at any store that carries Bandai product, anyways."

"Huh, I guess that makes sense." You shrug.

The six of you then head over to the 1v1 tables, where you little sister sitting on a bench, sullenly drinking from a juicebox. Beside her, you can see her prized Super Ball in a small box beside her, now cut up pretty bad.

"Jesus, Holly, looks like somebody really did a number on your Ball!" Mac whistles.

"Looks like from a heat axe, too." Lucina adds as she leans in for a closer look.

"I'm guessing your battle didn't go too well." you sigh.

>He had the hood up, so you couldn't get a clear look at his face. Kinda sketchy, actually.

We've just been assuming that it's a guy. It's possible that it's just Char under the hood.
>>
>>32176058

I find it more likely she'd use her old not supped up gunpla to battle amateurs for some reason. I mean who would give away their first gunpla, and who would want to battle using somebody else's? That's not what gunpla fighting is about. I honestly just think Merc is using 'he' to make it less obvious, but I guess we'll find out soon.
>>
>>32176071

>>
>>32176102
We are on stalker mode on Char, anon. Since she not coming on promised match several years ago, we got a bit obsessed when we finally found her again.
And if its her Zaku, Jack will care because maybe like others already pointed out it could be:
1) her incognito
2) her siblings/family.

>>32176126
Ah, never followed VMQ. I follows Merc from PJ Witches.

You don't understand, Jake fought his first Gunpla battle with her. That makes it okay to be obsessive about her.
>>
>>32176102
>>32176130

Well for meta some of us are thinking this person is Char. I think Jack might have a small hope it's her. Though I think choosing to pursue this person should be about their poor sportsmanship.
>>
>>32176172
This.
And the fact that she never comes on promised rematch might give Jack a bit obsessive.

Besides, rivals stalking each other is time-honored tradition on Gundam.
>>
>>32176172
That sounds really dumb as hell.
>>
>>32176172
No, it does not. Not even remotely.
>>
>>32176151
>>32176156
It's not true stalker mode. That anon made a poor word choice. We're not really obsessed with this. Just curious about the sense of familiarity we're getting. Haven't you ever run into someone or something you vaguely remember from childhood and gotten a case of nostalgia? It's at that stage for Jack. It might develop into something creepy if we keep pushing it, but for now he just wants to find out if his sense of familiarity is justified. Trying to talk to that person is a perfectly healthy course of action. For now. Like I said, it could get creepy if we push this.
>>
>>32176192
That really sound dumb as hell.

"Well, anyways." You frown and grab her hand, pulling her back up to her feet. "Come with me."

"W-what?" Charlotte blinks. "Don't tell me you're going to-"

"I just want you to go tell my sister you had a good game." You say. "I can't stand it when people don't show proper sportsmanship."

"Oh, so that's it..." Charlotte sighs.

"What? What did you think I was going to say?" You raise an eyebrow.

"NOTHING." Charlotte shakes her head rapidly.

As you lead Charlotte back to where you friends and sister were gathered, she speaks up again.

"Um, Jack..." She mumbles. "Can you do me favor?"

"Yeah?"

"Can you please not tell them who I am? I mean, you can tell them my name, but not that I'm Charlotte Rafale. I don't want things to get awkward..."

"Why, because you're a upcoming world champion?"

"See? Everybody keeps saying that stuff and never leaves me alone about it!" Charlotte sighs. "You know, for once I'd like to go to a tourney where nobody recognizes me..."

I don't think they would mind after they recover from the initial shock. I bet they would want advice more than anything.

All be it, he brings it up in vicious way, Anon has a point.

It's kinda shitty for pro to be in a local comp like this. Something we should address with her as well.

Agree to keep it a secret. Then ask her what she gets out of these tournaments she doesn't in the pro leagues.

Not harder, at least for me. But I keep having mine clear half way through typing it up. So i have to type the captcha in the text box the c/p it over.

Yeah, words a shit but are we seriously not asking for a rematch she owes us
>>

I was thinking the same thing. I've been failing the captchas a lot this thread, I think I've been spoiled by all the easy series of numbers and it went back to shitty looking words that aren't really words.

Not important in the least bit right now.

No. We owe her. We won that battle, if there's going to be a rematch it'll be because she wants to try again now that she's all super skilled. Jack's not in a position to ask a rematch of her. Holly is, though.

"All right, I won't tell them. But they're pretty cool. I don't think they'll make a big deal out of it." You say.

"Maybe..." Charlote sighs. "But thanks."

"Anyways, what the heck are you doing in a local tournament like this? I don't want believe you get your kicks beating up opponents who can't match you."

"Fighting other pros just gets really... intense at times." Charlotte sighs. "But once you get even the least amount of famous, it gets really hard to fight anybody BUT pros. Battling sort of loses its magic eventually, you know?"

"No, but it sounds terrifying."

"Yeah, well, sometimes I just break out the old Zaku and just go find the first local event I can find." Charlotte says. "I don't really play to win, anyways. I always drop out before I get too far in. Doesn't really feel right taking advantage of people like that, you know?"

"And also because if you win first place, you just attracted attention to yourself."

"...that too."

"You know, why don't you try wearing a mask if you want to hide your identity so much?" You crack a grin.

"Oh yeah, that's TOTALLY going to keep my presence under the radar." Charlotte rolls her eyes. "What do you think this is? A cartoon?"

"Sometimes, I wish it was." You laugh.

At this point, you finally reach your group. You don't really specifically introduce Charlotte to them. Charlotte, for her part, apologizes to Holly and shakes her hand, telling her that it was a good game.

"And that's genuine, too. I had a real great time battling her." She says to you.

"Anyways, I think it's time we should be going." Mac points to his watch. "Mason's gotta go back."

"Well, we're done here." You shrug and turn to Charlotte. "How about you?"

"Ah, well, I was just gonna take the bus home." Charlotte shrugs.

"Alone? At this hour?" You blink.

"It's fine."

Agreed. Let's acknowledge her autonomy a bit, huh? If she wants to take the bus let her take the bus. But we should at least offer.
>>
>>32176783
I don't understand the generosity.

She said she pulls out of tournaments before she gets too far in, and yet here we are. Now she won in the singles category.

What the hell?
>>
>>32176802
She didn't win in the singles category. She left several rounds before the final match-up. There were more people who signed up for the singles than the team category, so there were more rounds of elimination to get through.
>>
>>32176834
I'm pretty sure you're having a stroke Anon.

Who did you think Holly was competing against in the final round of the 1v1 bracket?

"No, it's NOT fine." You say. "Why don't you ride with us? We can drop you home."

"Um, well..." Charlotte blinks.

"Well, we do have the space." Karen nods.

"And we can get something to eat, too! I'm fucking STARVING."

"Jack, do you know this girl?" Lucina says, finally asking the obvious question.

"Just a really old acquaintance." You say vaguely. "Everybody, this is Charlotte."

Everybody nods and smiles, giving her their own names.

"You guys are all part of a team?" Charlotte asks.

"Yes. Part of a school club, actually." Karen smiles. "If you ever to go Jager High, you should come see us."

"I'll think about it..."

"Making friends already?" Mason asks when he sees you all bringing along an extra person.

"Yeah, she's with me." You say.

"Ha, such a player you are!" Mason chortles. "All right, everybody get in and let's get going! We'll grab something to eat, drop this little lady home, and then head back to the shop!"

Whether through fate, accident, or some hidden intent, you find yourself sitting next to Charlotte in the back of the van, largely separated from the rest of the crowd. Both of, childhood friends who literally only knew each for a day before being separated for over a decade, look at each other awkwardly as the both of you try to figure out what to say.

I'm worried we were a bit too forceful in this. Remember how we were going to try to keep it from getting pushed to far and becoming creepy? We're walking a thin line, here.
>>
>>32176908
Sorry, line met and past. The /tg/ Anonymous is not a social creature.
>>
>>32176920
That much is clear from every quest thread.
>>
>>32176920
Too true, too true. Maybe we can salvage it, I don't know. I blame it on the time. This quest ran late, we're sleepy and not thinking through the potential consequences of our actions.
>>
>>32176931
C'mon, Anon.

Now you're just making excuses. Search your feelings. This would've happened at 3 PM just like it did at 3 AM.

The problem is Anon's judgment, not Anon's judgment being compromised.

I would like to state that I voted for her to find her own way home.
>>
I fail to see how any of the decisions made were bad.
>>
>>32176948
Not the Anon you're talking to but I voted to ask at least not force it.

>>32176950
The last one we kinda forced on her, put her on the spot by saying it's not alright instead of just offering.
>>
>>32176948
Yeah, you're right. /tg/ sucks at interaction unless we're trying to diplomance. And even then we need GM fiat three quarters of the time. Maybe I'm just projecting, because I know I'm certainly tired enough to not be thinking straight. I did vote for her to get a say in the choice, though, so at least I'm not directly responsible.
>>
>>32176950
Do you also have a hard time making eye contact, reading body language, or talking to strangers?

>>
>>32176966
I don't think they (we?) are very good at that either.

>>32176987
I think it's more that we're just voicing our dissatisfaction. I know I'm not super stoked with how ANY of that conversation went.
>>
>>32176867
Thanks for the thread, Merc

One question, didn't Jack mention Charlotte to the rest of the team already? It seems like there's a disconnect somewhere since at least Mac and Karen heard of her before
