“Short-Fin” The sound of rustling papers. “Ah, Quesufre Sin-Fin, the Arrancar who holds some sort of remembering power, or something related to memory correct?” Mendel asks. “It is unfortunate the village had to die, I truly regret it, but the angel blades needed to be tested. We also suspected that combining the nonfallen with the fallen blade in order to create a new effect might cause some rejection so we had to have it isolated enough not to become too widespread but at the same time large enough to show the general effectiveness of the effect. Honestly I am shocked it worked so well but what is science if not full of surprises.” She says with a small laugh.

“So you’re just offing folks to test your weapon? Seems a bit Megelesque don’t you think?” You ask looking at your nails.

“As I said, it was unfortunate but necessary. We needed to see how a fallen arch angel’s blade interacted with a pure angel blade.” Mendel explains.

You chew your lip in thought for a moment then shake your head. “Okay, so what’s your endgame then? Why the tests?” You ask.

“Why, we intend to save the world of course. Oh, that sounded a bit ostentatious I apologize.” She chuckles. “Imagine, if you will, that instead of wrath and poison we used protection and hope? Or healing and fate? We could not risk capturing the blades we want and then losing them in the event of rejection, and with Amon being the weakest and Sammael still unfamiliar enough with the world to be tricked we felt there was an opportunity there.” She explains.

“So this the part where you tell me to join you lot? How you are the best of the best and only got the world’s interests at heart?” You wonder.

For a moment there is only static, probably taken back by how genre savvy you are. She finally responds with “Are you an idiot?”

“No, I am clever. I talked about this before.” You say a little hurt. No, we agreed you were daft, just the blokes in here that are clever.

“Any organization or group which would take you on as an assistant would likely end very quickly. You would get bored of following orders and create chaos, then eat out projects like you are doing right now. You grumble a little and bite into the tumor and taste the faintest hint of divine stuff in it. “Hold on, why does this taste like god?” You wonder.

“Oh, you noticed that did you? Yes, we have been doing something similar to you. Hopping around taking down gods. Where you just take chunks of them we repurpose them.” Mendel explains making you look confused. “Is that so strange? Humankind made these gods in the first place. Thus, when the need strikes us it is perfectly logical for us to be able to rip them apart when we require it. In fact, they should be flattered they are so useful to their parents.” Mandel continues.

“Well I-“ You pause. “Wait, how did you know I looked confused at that statement?” You wonder.

“Oh, the satellite system we were using to monitor our experiment just linked up with the American laser cannon system. We get some pretty good images with this.” Mendel replies. “Oh, yes, you may want to run.” She advises before hanging up.

“Who was on the mobile?” Risa-Fin asks tilting her head at Shiba who is trying try find something to wear other than sheer silk.

“Mendel.” You answer as her grey dress rustles oddly.

“The pea pod bloke?” Risa-Fin wonders.

Oh, I thought I heard about him from somewhere. “Yeah, looks like. Anyway we should probably go.” You say as the area starts filling with light blue light. “We need to really go.” You say looking up as the cloud layer above starts to burn away in several spots. “Run run run!” You shout sonidoing away towards the town.

You follow your nose as pillars of bright blue light envelop the town, destroying the evidence of what went on here. The angel swords jingle in your pants as you roll out of the way of a spike of blue, cursing as it vaporizes the once sleepy village of mumblemumble. “You don’t know the name, do ya?” You ask as you find your Snazzy Azzy’s trail to her club. No, I don’t remember little places.

You throw open the door as Risa-Fin starts to burn away back to Sin-Fin and Shiba is, well, still a dragon woman actually. You pile in last just as a pillar of blue destruction was about to collide into the club and you.

However once you close the door to the club the outside world stops existing. Smoky red and violet light fills the club and it seems to pulse with the loud music. You see people in here, most of them laying on the ground stuck in a stupor of some sort as the strange lustful energy overrides their minds, leaving them helpless.

You hear a grunt and turn to see Azzy pressing her cane into some man’s groin as she walks over to you. “Hey Risa sauce.” She greets you. “You find my little brother’s sword?”

“Here you go.” You say pulling the sword out of your pants and handing it to Azzy. “Nazi scientists stole it.” It wasn’t Nazis, it was anti-Risa.

“You get your ears boxed in? Get takin in the vapors? Nazi’s are gone mate.” Azzy says in a pretty amusing mockery of your accent while the Amon sword gets covered in small glowing motes of light before blinking out of existence.

"Someone is going around turning angel swords into weapons. May want to tell your family not to fall for the old ‘Oh, can I hold ya sword for just a second? I’ll give it right back, swear on me mum I will.’ Anyway, where is Akira and Kouta?” You ask.

“The quincy boy I gave some tea and cookies in the back room. Poor thing.” She says with a sigh and you momentarily feel like your brain is going to orgasm so hard it is going to melt out of your ears. “Akira I locked in a backroom. My most secure.” She explains fiddling with one of her many piercings.

“Well then, may as well go see why the little tosser wanted to diddle my god rock. Try not to break Kouta too much. Don’t figure his mum will be too keen on that.” You tell her walking towards the back room.

You open the door and step in and immediately you feel something is terribly wrong with it. Your go juice is getting smothered and you can’t seem to smell anything. Really, all of your senses are being pushed into cement and you realize it is a prison Azzy designed. Of course, with her powerful brothers and sisters she needed to make it tough enough to keep them locked in. Your inner grace stops humming as the tiny sparkle gets extinguished for now. You look in the corner of the room and see Akira staring at you with sunken eyes, his third eye stitched shut by some strange coloured thread. You see strange dark stains on the floor of the room which, could you smell as well as normal, would probably hint at the rooms colourful past.

You stand up and slowly back out of the room. Akira doesn’t move but you get the impression of him or something through him is watching your every step with a sort of morbid curiosity. You reach back to the door, feel the nob, and open it keeping your eyes on the prone form of Akira. You step out of the room and close the door, the only light in there now the strange silvery hum of him.

You hear time get torn to pieces as you close the door, the sickening cry of anti-reality gnashing and erasing the very idea of what something was. You fall to the ground and cover your ears, your plot rock old one parts vibrating angrily as reality tries to tell you something but you just don’t want to listen. You keep your eyes shut tight and keep your ears closed as you internally curl up around your old one half.

You are not certain how long you are like that for. It could be hours, or it could be moments. Eventually you are forced to open your eyes as you feel someone shaking you, the strange scent of absinthe and cherries being eaten out of the loved on of your worst enemy right in front of him as he bleeds to death filling your nose and ears. “Risa. Hey! Risa!” Asmodeus says pulling you up.

You look over at her and see your Fallen friend looking you in the eyes, her expression concerned. “What happened? You were laying in the hallway crying and screaming at the top of your lungs.” She explains.

You look down at the floor, tears from you having mixed with the countless unnameable dried fluids on the cement. “It was Akira.” You say shaking your head. “And that sound in the room.” You say and Asmodeus looks concerned.

“Room? What room?” She asks.

You point a thumb at the door behind you and she smiles a little. She opens it up and you see before you a distinct lack of existence, like the world between worlds but more enclosed. “Wicked, eh?
