Stress: 66/100

PP: 12/12

You stand before a closed warehouse style door, one of the ones that rolls up into a big cylinder when open. You are with Rowan and Isaac. Isaac is still in khaki shorts and a white sleeved shirt, but he’s wearing a knee and elbow pads, a swat vest with a billion pockets, gloves, and has a quiver of bolts slung over his shoulder. His primary weapon of choice is his crossbow, but you can see that he’s got a bunch of things that look like grenades clipped to his vest, a holstered handgun, and a Taser.

Rowan looks ridiculous with her scabbard buckled at her side while she glides around on a pair of rollerblades. She wears a vest and pads similar to her dad’s, as well as a couple of alternate weapons, one of which is a collapsible baton. Her face is partially obscured by a riot helmet.

Isaac hands you a pistol. “Claws will only get you so far,” he says.

Though you don’t know too much about guns, you think you recognize this one as a five-seven. You take it, waiting until it’s out of his grasp before you say, “You know I plan on using this thing, right?” You check the magazine to make sure he’s not screwing with you. Nope, plenty of bullets.
>>
“Don’t kill somebody if you don’t have to,” says Rowan, her voice a little muffled coming from behind her faceplate, “but don’t take any chances. Some of these guys know about people like us. Could even be a couple hellborn in there.”

Isaac walks over to the door, sticks a nondescript block on it, and carefully inserts a little piece of wire. “Rowan and I are going to carve straight through the middle,” he says, walking back over. He fishes a plastic detonator from one of his vest pockets. “Sierra, I want you to go around and shadow us on the side. Hopefully anyone with a gun will be too busy shooting at us to notice you. If you do come under fire, find cover. You’re not bulletproof. Now, speed is important – remember, it’s the demon we’re after. Anybody else in there is just an obstacle.”

Rowan nods once in acknowledgement. “Cut off the head of the serpent and the body will die.”

“Is that clear, Sierra?” asks Isaac, giving you an intent look.

“Yeah whatever,” you say, antsy to get moving. “What’s the deal with the demon guy though? Will he like, try to make me sign a contract or something?”

“Stygians are never as they appear,” says Isaac. “They’re masters of illusion and deceit. The only thing I can say for certain is that you shouldn’t underestimate him.”

Well that’s not helpful at all. You almost ask about where your cool tac vest and flak jacket are, but you realize that they probably don’t have extras lying around everywhere. That stuff can’t be cheap. You also don’t want to draw attention to how dangerous it is that you’re tagging along with a couple demon hunters going into a firefight – Isaac could still change his mind, and that’s not an option you will accept.

“Well then are we exploding that door or what, geeze,” you say.

The three of you move off to the side, and Isaac raises the detonator. He holds up three fingers. Then two. Then EXPLOSION SFX SURROUND SOUND EDITION holy heck that was the loudest thing you’ve ever heard.

Shredded bits of material rain down in the parking lot, and the two demonbane rush around and in through the breach, you hot on their heels.

>>
>>32159315

The tear in the door is a lot bigger than you expected from such a small piece of plastic explosive. Maybe you need to look into getting some of that crap. The air glows with an ovenlike heat as you pass through the space that blew up just a couple seconds ago. The crackly taste of ozone and fire sits on your tongue. It’s kind of a neat flavor. (-2 Stress: 64/100)

And then, you’re inside the building. Your eyes take a second to adjust, but you can hear everything immediately. The voices are spacey from echoing around the huge interior, but the words, coming from several different sources, are clear.

“It came from the front door!”

“What the hell?!”

“It’s the cops!”

“It’s not the fucking cops.”

“Pick up your guns start shooting!”
>>
>>32159323

You start to make out the layout of the building. This place kind of has the layout of Costco, but there are a lot more boxes and crates and a lot less food sampling stations. Stacks of crates obstruct line of sight from one end of the building to the other – hopefully the cover will give the Hallows better odds, but you don’t think you’re too worried about them getting shot. Who knew what they were capable of as half-angels.

You notice a guy starting to get up from where he had been knocked down by the explosion. He hadn’t been standing in a good place. He barely gets to his knees when Rowan skates over and strikes him in the hip with her baton – the man keels over in pain, and she blades forward.

Isaac runs after her, straight into the store.

You notice the lighting in the store comes only from a couple floodlights set up near the middle of the floor. The outer walls, where tall empty shelves loom out of darkness, provide an thick cover of darkness. You hear yells and panic from all sides. There must be dozens of guys here.

>Stick to the flank (and the plan.). You’re not bulletproof.

Though you are a little worried that the Hallows will steamroll Trevon before you have a chance to make him experience truly exquisite pain, you are also a little worried about getting shot. Suicidal bravado isn’t among your demonic abilities. You ditch right, making sure to step on the guy Rowan put out of commission as you go – you notice his tattoos brand him as a Crip. That means there’s likely more where that came from. You wind up following the Hallows far off to the side and somewhat behind. You can only see brief flashes of what the hell they’re up to.

A humanoid form of brilliant white light pops out from between crates for a brief second, and then disappears – and then a sound like thunder cracks out, and a punk guy with a pink Mohawk goes flying into a stack of boxes. A dude with a freaking assault rifle pops up and starts unloading an entire magazine’s worth of ammunition, only for a grenade to bounce down by his feet and erupt in a flash of blinding light and deafening sound. He gets body checked to the ground a second later by the blazing figure of light.
>>
>>32159486

The light show casts numerous crazy and bedazzling shadows everywhere in the darkness where you sprint all out. Up ahead, you see a guy with an SMG. He has it up and is taking aim at a glowing white figure, which momentarily resolves into the form of Isaac. The demonbane is down the same aisle reloading his crossbow, but likely hasn’t noticed this guy from all of the other guys he’s been worrying about.

With so much shadow already around you, it’s no sweat to shift it around a bit so that you become a ball of impenetrable darkness. (-1 PP 11/12)

With the handgun secured in the back of your jeans, you sprint at your intended target, your fingers distorting into razor sharp claws as you go.

At the last second, the gunman hears footfalls and looks in your direction. “What the hell?” he says to himself, seeing nothing but impending darkness rolling toward him. He fails to react when you swing with all your strength and rake your claws across his lower face and chest. Your claws cut his skin to the bone and beyond, scything through his chin and throat, and continues on to tear through his pretentious collared polo shirt. He collapses bleeding all over the place – you take an instinctive step backwards to prevent the pooling blood from getting on your new shoes. He convulses helplessly, rapidly soaking in his own blood. No feat of medical technology can save this crab now. (Crab: 2/10 HP)

The sight reminds you of when Benjamin bled out on the floor of Cobra Manor. It seems… fitting. You meant this to happen, and it did. It was easy, even. You feel powerful. (-10 Stress: 54/100)

“When you get to hell,” you say, stooping down to grab his wrist and suck out what power you can (+1 PP 11/11), “tell ‘em Blood sent you – but make sure you mention my name, ‘cause I only get the benefits if they know it was me.” You snicker to yourself ad you pry the Uzi from the dying crab’s fingertips. (-3 Stress 51/100) You wind up cutting up his hand in the process, but you don’t’ think he’ll mind.

You keep running on.

Up ahead, another obstacle. This time there are three of them. Two look like street thugs, but one looks professional – he’s in a suit and you suppose a tie, but you can’t tell at this distance. The pro has a handgun out and a flashlight, and is looking in your direction. This must be a member of the big bad’s personal entourage, and he looks tough. (Pro: 11/11 HP) The two with him look like crabs, though they seem really unsure of themselves.

“Dude man, let’s just split,” says one crab. You have no trouble picking out his words in the midst of the sounds of gunfire.

“Shut up,” says Mr. Professional. “Something took out your boy over there. You, punks, check it out.”

“The name’s Ian,” says one of the punk. Man, you would think Ian would have been smart enough to call it quits after your last encounter.
>>
>>32160016

“Fuck off and check it out,” says the suit. He shoves both of the crabs forward. Ian shakily moves in your direction, handgun raised, while the other seems a lot more cool under the pressure. The suit keeps his flashlight and gun raised, and watches the two Crip’s he’s sent in your dreiction. You remain hidden behind some shelving.

You don’t want to take undue risk in this situation, so you pop out from cover, point your Uzi at everybody, and pull the trigger. The SMG roars and kicks in your hand – these things have a lot of recoil and shoot way faster than you were expecting, but you keep it leveled at your targets.

Both crabs go down, Ian taking a hit in the leg and the other a bullet through the chest. You even hit big man a couple times, but he doesn’t go down – must be wearing a Kevlar or something. (Pro: 6/11 HP, Crab: 0/10, Ian: 4/10) The suit dives to the side and fires back, before taking cover behind an abandoned forklift.

A bullet catches you in the shoulder, and you fall backward. Dammit that’s painful, but you recognize it for what it is – a graze. Despite the pain and the sudden surge of adrenaline, you’re still okay. (-3 HP: 9/12, +5 Stress: 54/100)

I really wish we had the thing that can make shadows physical so that we could shoot a spike of shadows up this guy from below.

Looks like your opponent traded vision for protection. Bad move. You dodge out of cover and sprint toward the forklift, dragging all the darkness with you along the way. When you’re still aways off, the guy bursts out of cover and aims right at you, flashlight shining on you and all. Instinctively, you tighten your shadows against the light, drawing as much power as necessary to keep yourself concealed (-7 PP 5/12).

The suit scowls – he’d obviously been planning on you doing something like this, but had underestimated your sway over darkness. “Verwelkan piece of shit,” he says flatly. He shoots rapidly in your direction, but you manage to weave out of the way. He’s firing blind into a wall of blackness, but you have your work cut out for you.
>>
>>32160502

You close the gap, burst from the darkness, kick the gun out of his hand, and on the return swipe your claws across suit’s face. The strike reduces the man’s head to a bloody pulp. He wildly tries to swing at you, but you dart under the heavy fist and stap upwards with your other hand through the bottom of the guy’s jaw. You quickly withdraw and pull back for more action, but the guy just collapses, blood everywhere. His white dress shirt is a mess of the dark fluid. You don’t have to be a doctor to know he’s dead. (Pro: 0/11)

The smell is disgustingly thick in your nostrils. Blood saturates the air. This is your doing. You smile slightly at the thought. (-2 Stress: 54/100)

It’s a good thing you know what the hell a Verwelkan is, or you’d feel pretty damn stupid right now. Well, more probably you’d think the guy you just killed was pretty damn stupid. Either way he’s dead and you’re not, so by default you’re smarter than he is anyway. You’re pretty sure that’s how it works.

Another explosion from the middle of the floor. As much as you’d like to lift this guy’s wallet or taunt Ian, you need to move. You would never get over it if they managed to kill Trevon before you did. You sprint off.

As you run, you have trouble reconciling what’s happening with reality. Did you actually just kill like, three people? You don’t exactly feel bad about it though. In fact, it’s been kind of a natural high. You’ve never been this willy nilly with your powers before, and you have to admit, it’s exhilarating as fuck.

You start approaching the back of the store, but listening to the shouts of panicked mercs and crips, you don’t get the feeling that who you’re looking for is on the main floor. You see a slightly propped open door that leads into the back offices – as you watch, a weedy little guy in a pricy suit darts over followed by a punk, and barges through the door. He leaves the Crip behind him as a rearguard.
>>
>>32160750
If you were a gangster demon having a secret meeting with your accomplices, you’d have it in the backroom – maybe that’s where you’ll find the bastard responsible for Benjamin’s death. Indecision tears at you though. He could be with the Stygian, and you’re not sure about that mess.

But you do know you have to be the one to kill Trevon. There’s no telling what could happen if you went into that fight with a couple demon hunters at your back, and safety-conscious Isaac and Rowan wouldn’t let you get your satisfaction if it looked dangerous. The thought of them depriving you from a death that rightfully belongs to you makes you mad. (+5 Stress: 59/100)

>4 for a meetup, 5 for going ahead. Going ahead activate.

It’s dangerous to go alone. On the other hand, you’ve proven that you can handle yourself, and you’re just too fucking mad to wait for the Hallows to get their crap together. You couldn’t work with them for this anyway – you need to use your Verwelkan stuff to kick ass, and you don’t want to have to deal with the drama of revealing your shadowy side To Isaac and Rowan at the current moment.

You enhance the darkness about you so that you can easily stealth up behind the lookout. (-1 PP 4/12) You wrap your claws around his throat and squeeze. He doesn’t really get the chance to struggle. You’re quick to take what power you can from him before he dies. (+1 PP 5/12; Punk: 0/10)

And now there’s more blood everywhere. This guy was on cocaine or something, because you can smell it in his bloodstream. You swear people are like blood-filled balloons for how much they bleed when you start cutting. If you threw somebody against a wall hard enough, they’d probably pop.
>>

You head into the back offices. The lights are dim, but functional back here. Nobody’s in sight. You don’t think you see an exit from back here, but that’s when you notice the stairs. Looks like there’s a basement level or something – little tweed probably ran down there to hide. It looks welcomingly dark below, but you can't slow down your heart rate as you contemplate the probable dangers. (+3 Stress: 62/100)

You suppress the urge to head down all Matrix style, with your Five-seven in one hand and the Uzi in the other. It takes all your concentration to aim and fire one gun, let alone two. Instead, you stow the SMG so you can have your claws ready. You step over to the light switch and flick it off. Darkness presses in around you, and you proceed forward and creep down the stairs, trying to keep low and quiet.

The sublevel is pretty bare bones. The floor is concrete, and the only thing in the room are big wood support beams. A couple floodlights are set up in the center of the room over a manhole, though the circle of illumination doesn’t extend very far. It’s hard to gauge how big the space is, as everything seems to fade away into darkness.

The little man in the expensive suit has a crowbar in hand, and is frantically trying to pry open the sewer access hatch. “Damn damn damn,” is all he says as he fails to get sufficient leverage. He really is a little guy. (Tweed: 7/7 HP)

He hasn’t noticed your approach, but you feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Maybe it’s the anticipation for another fight.

>>
>>32161458
I never liked that hand anyway, always talking smack and shit.

Fucking hand.
>>
>>32161383

You hold back for just as second and pay attention to your senses.

The sound of breathing. Yours.

Breathing. Tweed’s.

And… the scent of blood. Blood unlike those you’ve killed so far. Smells like it’s coming from… behind you!

You twist to see the figure lunge at you. You brace for the strike, but still get taken off your feet by the tackle. You wind up on the ground, but you’re ready – you get your feet under your assailant and push him off of you – he falls into the edge of the circle of light.

“You so spicy, Chica,” says Trevon, putting himself between you and the little guy. “How many people you kill just to say hello?” He’s got his claws out just like you. His track pants are torn and slightly singed, and a few blood scraps are all that remains of his shirt. He has a few long gashes in his flesh, probably courtesy of an encounter with Rowan’s bastard sword. The rest of his flesh is covered in huge, jagged scars of all kinds.
>>
>>32161623
Trevon points to his head, the right side of which is horridly scarred over. The thing that sticks out though is that he’s missing an eye. “You owe me an eye, blood,” he says, a steely glint in his remaining eye. “Maybe one of yours will fit, neh?”

The sight of him makes your blood boil. (+10 Stress: 69/100) Still, giving him a look over, you notice despite his injuries, he’s probably still a lot tougher than you. Looking at him now, you begin to see how he could have survived taking so many hits in that firefight. In fact, it looks as if some of his wounds are closing before your very eyes. (+3 HP: 16/33)

You take note that there are only two floodlights keeping this room in the light, and they’re the plug in kind.

Claws+Hellfire=3d2+2d5 damage (min5, max16)
Shooting him a couple times and then moving in to fireclaw his disgusting face would kill him dead.

Or we could Sap Will on him and then empty the guns into him while he's stunned, hopefully it would knock him low enough that we can kill him with regular claws if it doesn't outright kill him.

Either one would be good to go for after we kill the lights.
>>
>>32161798

“You and your fucking eyes,” you say, pulling out your SMG with the trigger depressed. Trevon dodges out of the way, but you weren’t aiming for him. Gunfire strikes everything – tweedy guy flattens himself to the ground to get out of the way of the shots. A bullet strikes one of the floodlights, blowing it out, while another catches the edge of the second and sends it toppling over. It hits the ground and shatters, throwing everything into darkness.

You hear Trevon come at you. You move, and feel him miss an attempted choke hold.

The fallen flood light flickers briefly, giving you a freeze frame image of Trevon with his eyes focused on a spot a few feet to your left, and then darkness resumes. It looked like his wounds were still closing. (+2 HP: 17/33)

Trevon comes at you again, but in the dark he lacks subtlety. You dodge out of the way and back off.

“Quit playin’ around, Chica, I don’t got all day!” he says, unwisely giving away his position.

You start doing the tai chi BS that Isaac showed you an hour back. “Hey Trevon,” you say, “I bet you can’t do this.” Your hands alight with flame, hotter than anything you’ve ever summoned before – and it only gets hotter as you fuel it with your hate. The crimson flames turn a bright blue . Your rolled up sleeves begin to smoulder. In the shadows, you can make out the Crip’s hate-filled expression as he rushes at you.

You whip both of your hands forward and project a solid bolt of brilliant blue hellfire. (-5 PP 0/12)

The fire splashes over Trevon, melting his skin and setting his flesh ablaze. He screams incoherently as he falls backwards on the ground, and rolls in an effort to stop the burning. (-13, +3. Trevon: 7/33)

The sound of his shrieking is music to your ears. (-5 Stress: 64/100)

You can smell him cooking from where you stand. It reminds you of the one time your dad tried to barbeque something – it’s a good and bad smell at the same time. Having skipped lunch yourself, you find yourself getting hungry at the aroma of charred flesh.

You pull your handgun out of the back of your jeans and walk slowly over to Trevon while he burns. You take careful aim at his head - he whips out and tries to seize your ankle, but you pull back out of his reach and then shoot him in his good eye. He keeps screaming and wriggling, so you shoot him again. He twitches, and you pull the trigger until it starts clicking empty. His head is an unrecognizable mess But you can swear you can hear his fucking heart still beating in his chest. That fucker needs to stop now. You toss the gun and start clawing at his sternum.

You’re about to crack through Trevon’s breast bone when you realize it was your own heart you were listening to. Oh uh. How about that.

Tweedy pulls a little LED flashlight out and shines it at you. You must look like a mess, you think to yourself as you raise your claws. In the pale light you can see they’re soaking red with blood. It’s dribbling down the sides, like a fucking melting ice-cream cone. With the smell of freshly charred meat everywhere and the iron scent of blood in the air, it’s hard to think straight. Before you can stop yourself, you shakily raise index-claw to your face. You watch the tantalizing sheen of fresh blood running down the edge for a moment, and then give it a lick. The metallic flavor is not… unfamiliar. You’ve split your lip and sucked on cut fingers before. But this time, you find the flavor compelling, exotic even by comparison. It’s not yours. It’s from your kill, your prey. To the victor goes the spoils. You feel an enlivening electric energy course through your body as you savor the taste of it. (+1 HP 10/12) You stare off into space and chuckle to yourself.

And then you snap out of it. In disgust, you wipe you mouth to get rid of any trace of what you did. You forget, however, that your hands are covered in blood, and wind up smearing more of it all over your face. The shock of what’s happening freaks you out more than anything else that’s happened today. (+15 Stress 79/100)

The disturbing display puts Tweeds on edge. He’s too afraid to move the light away from you. “I should have left, oh god I’m going to die.”
>>
>>32162690

You notice then a horrible stench. It’s like a thousand rotting corpses stacked on top of one another on a summer day. It’s not the smell of a man soiling himself, it’s just the scent of unadulterated decay. You look over at Tweedy. No way. He can’t be five feet tall.

“I bet you were expecting something more dramatic from Trevon,” you say, distancing yourself from the smoking corpse. “That’s what you get when you run with crabs, hombre. Cooked crabs.”

You stand up and loom over the little man, claws at your sides. “So you’re the Stygian, right? I mean, you smell the part, but I’m not impressed.”

“W-well,” he begins.

You cut him off. “I came here to kill this bastard,” you say, jerking a claw in the direction of Trevon’s body. “Mission accomplished. But I hear from a couple of my demonbane buds that you were the one who told him to sack my house. I bet they’ll be itching to ask you a bunch of questions.”

The little guy gives you an intent look, and when he speaks makes a noticeable effort to keep his voice even. “One of my men reported a verwelken was with the Hallows,” he says. “I thought it was ridiculous. But… you? You’re hellborn. And I bet that was you Barry was talking about before you killed him, wasn’t it. But the claws, the blood – that’s highborn infernus. Do you know how many verwelken-infernus hybrids there are? Both here and Halth?”

The lack of your understanding shows on your face, and Tweedy picks up on it. “Oh god. You’ve never heard of Halth, have you,” he says, looking at you in shock.

These two bits of commentary, please.

“Yeah whatever,” you say, disinterested in whatever story he’s concocted to save his skin. “You know who’s probably heard of Halth? The Hallows. Why don’t we go talk to them?”

You grab him and haul him to his feet, turning one set of claws back into regular hand so you don’t cut off his arm or something crazy. It’s not hard – he’s so light! You begin dragging him toward the stairs.

“No no no,” he says, resisting. “Demonbane kill demons, I’m demon, they’ll kill me,” he says. Words come tumbling out his mouth at no end. “I don’t blame them. I don’t belong here. Look, I don’t want to be here! I have a river-side estate in Stygia – Meckor forced me to come with him on his stupid crusade. Even Trevon called the shots more than me – I’m just the middle man. Where else am I going to go? I’m in fucking California. Look, not to threaten you, but,” he says - and then he stops.

As in, you can’t pull him anymore. He’s just rooted in position, like he’s bolted to the floor. His voice takes on a much darker tone. All traces of fear are gone. “I can only get out of here when I’m this size.”
>>
>>32163392

Then his eyes go completely black, and his voice takes on a reverberating quality. “If thou aidest me mine escape, I swear it upon mine name Nabuth’shazzar to aid thee against thy foes.”

He returns to normal then, shrill voice, trembling expression, and featherweight frame, and all. “Or I could kill you. Yes I’d die, but so would you. Help a demon out. Nobody wants to die, Sierra.” The lightness of his tone and the gravity of the words he speaks in all seriousness scare you. (+5 Stress:84/100)

You decide to hide your shock at his inexplicable knowledge of your name under your sudden fear at the Stygian’s unknown power. You look at him and see nothing frightening, but you have no clue what he’s capable of. What if he can handle you even if you freaked out and went all rage mode on him? While his deal seems reasonable, you are also aware that whatever Tweedy is, you shouldn’t trust him.

“Joke’s on you,” you say, managing a smile, “if you try to kill me then I’ll just freak out and kill you first.”

“Okay,” says the little man, affecting a dubious attitude. “Let’s say that’s true. You’re so powerful you kill me right off the bat once I reveal my true form. But what if you’re still going through a blood rage? Who do you attack then? The Hallows could be here any second. Will you do to them what you did to Trevon?”

You grab him, pick him up off the ground by his collar, and shake him. “I can’t fucking trust you!” you yell. “You’re a deceit demon!”

"That's blatant racism. Who tells you this crap? Oh wait, that's right, Demonbane. Good luck with that one, Nabbuth. I would tell you about how I swore on my name so that means I have to hold up my end of the bargain,” he says, grinning sheepishly, “but you wouldn’t be able to trust that either, would you.”

You let go of him and he collapses to the ground. “Fuck you,” you say.

“So,” says Tweed, looking up expectantly at you, fear and determination shining in his eyes in equal measure. “What’ll it be?”

>Try to kill him before he can transform. That’s something you can do, right?

The little man can see the irresolution in your stance. Little does he know, you’re trying to stall him. “Look,” he says, “I know you’re angry at me. Trevon told me about what happened between you two – that’s serious heat. But Meckor’s the guy you want, he’s the one who came up with the idea to take over the streets with the Crips. I had to carry out his orders, he’d tear my head off if I didn’t – I want him dead almost as much as you do. He dies, I can go home. He dragged me out of my house for this crap.”

He glances at his watch, Maybe he does know you’re stalling. “Look kid. I can help you out. You don’t know anything about your heritage. I’m not even going to hold it against you you’re with the demonbane. That’s your business. But we both know we don’t have all that much time. So if you don’t make up your mind within the next five seconds, I’ll just pop off the mutually assured destruction thing and what happens happens. Nice to meet you.”

The Hallows are creepy because they act like the person collector / redeemer kind of mc that you see in quests sometimes.

>>32164848
Harvey is hardly even a human bean. He's built like a brick shithouse and probably got the lion's share of the angel traits.

Plus I'm pretty sure he got used to shit like that when his sister freaked out about stuff. They did say that she acts really similarly to Sierra.
>>
>>32164848
>Neither appears nor acts even slightly awkward

Maybe it's just happened before with either of the kids, being a weird monster mut might elicit a lot of teenage angst.

I felt they were trying to be understanding rather than freaking out, perhaps hiding their nervousness in an attempt to make the MC feel less ashamed?
>>
>>32164654
For one thing we're a pretty useful ally, we have a powerful bloodline and are actually trying to be a vaguely decentish person. The Hallows are competent but our areas of expertise vary, having us working with them gives them extra options and might catch other Demons off guard.

You’ve read enough books and seen enough movies to know you don’t make deals with devils. “I can talk them out of killing you maybe,” you say suddenly, desperately. You are not okay with the present situation.

Tweed looks up at you, beginning to smile. “I took that option off the table.”

You gouge out his eyes with your claws and run like hell. (+5 Stress: 89/100)

“YOU’VE DOOMED US BOTH, HELLBORN!” The sound of the voice is like a chorus of shrieking rats. You don’t look and start powering up the stairs, trying to suppress the fear and the edges of red creeping in at your vision. (+5 Stress: 94/100)

Just as you reach the top of the stairs, something wraps around your ankle and yanks you off your feet. You grab the hand rail and hold o, even as you’re stretched to your limit. Oh fuck just hold on.

You can’t hold on. (+3 Stress: 97/100)

You’re pulled back down the stairs, hitting everything painfully along the way, all toward a dark shape in the shadows that sounds like a swarm of bees and smells like a cadaver smoothie. The assault to your sensations is too much. You panic in fear. (+15 Stress: 112/100)

Your brain shuts down. Fear turns to anger, anger turns to hate, and HATE TURNS TO UNBRIDLED RAGE. EVERYTHING NEEDS TO DIE NOW. AGGHGHHHH!!

What happens after that point is blurry. Very blurry. Fire, shadow, light, and blood. And, as usual, gratuitous violence. It’s a lot to take in.

An indeterminate amount of time later, you come to.

Stress: Exhausted.
HP: 3/12
PP: 4/12

It’s nighttime. Above you are dark clouds. You find everything is sore. You are also lying on your back outside. You sit up. There’s a dead guy beside you. You don’t recognize him, but his throat is ripped open. Hopefully he was a crab. You’re too tired to care. You look around a little bit more. You’re on a roof? And also you are covered in dried blood. Your clothes are pretty much destroyed at this point, burned and torn – you would die if anyone saw you right now. If this keeps up you’re going to need to get a pair of stretchy purple pants or something.

A cool wind passes in from the ocean, and you shiver. You feel incredibly weak. You lie back down, completely drained. You just need a little while to get it together.

Too tired to move, the question still gnaws at you.

What did you do?
