Last time, you tried to escape from the Strangers facility, the bunker under the control of the Japanese extremist Black Ops squad. Though you were ultimately rescued from a salacious fate by Claire, your unwanted but unwaveringly loyal companion, you have reached a new obstacle. Before you stands the commander of the Strangers Unit 02. Though he is an older man, you have no doubt that he has super human powers. Despite this, he has not shown any hostility towards you, not even touching the High Frequency Sword resting at his side. All he has done is blab on and on about the mysterious AIR project and how using you as the biological blueprint for the future. Just one question remains, however. Just why in the hell are they doing all this? Japan isn't really in need of super soldiers, is it?

"You're a fool! These soldiers will allow glorious Japan to retake its place among the warrior cultures of the world!"

Today is just like yesterday, tomorrow will be just like today. Crazy men with crazier ambitions never know when to quit.

"Listen to me! Ever since the United States neutered my homeland, we have been nothing but a global joke! Oh, it's the Japanese! They're so polite! Oh, it's the Japanese! They're so strange! Oh, it's the Japanese! Don't they make those perverted cartoons?" The man's pleasant face turns into a deep scowl, "I'm sick of it! I'm sick of this reputation! We, the Second Strangers Unit, shall claim your biological data and create an army of super soldiers the likes of which have never been seen upon this earth! Nobody will think of us as a nation of leches ever again!"

"But," Claire blinks, then puts a finger to her chin, "What's wrong with being a pervert? Isn't it natural for human beings?"

Now's not the time to point that out, Claire! The Commander's face turns bright red with anger and he reaches for his weapon..

They're not after what's in Captain's body. With the way he fights there's enough biomass to make three of him. Stop getting ideas Claire.

So how the hell are we getting out of this? The Capt is near dead and Claire can't hold off the ninjas forever.
>>

Shit! Now he's mad!

You grab Claire and haul ass the other way, leaving the Japanese Commander in the dust. You hear the scream of the high frequency blade as it is loosed from its sheath behind you and the rush of knives against the air. You tumble forward, letting the blades sink into the reinforced concrete walls of the bunker. Claire, ever agile, lands atop of you, straddling your form as she opens fire with her machine pistol. The red hot casings fall on your face, stinging you as they roll across your unprotected skin. Though you hiss in pain, you don't complain. As you are right now, you're useless. If only you had your strength, if only you had your claws! What's keeping you so weak? You never thought there would be a time when you wanted your powers back, but now you need them more than ever. You'd do almost anything to get them back right now. On the subject of doing almost anything, you'd really like it if Claire would get off you right now.

"Oh, darling? What's that?" Claire's cheeks glow, "I'm sorry. I want to, but right now is not a good time."

No, you need her to get up off of you, not get you off! You roll out from under Claire and pick her up by her collar, throwing her over your shoulder as you turn to run. Claire's endless magazines keeps firing and firing, littering the floor with hundreds of shells. For his part, the Commander seems unconcerned, casually deflecting each shot that comes his way. It isn't as if he is moving fast, but no matter where Claire aims, his sword is already in the way. You feel a sense of dread and bark at Claire. She needs to do something more than spew futile attacks.

"Understood."

The world suddenly goes black.

"Don't be afraid. I've rendered us invisible. I can see through this effect, but with the light bent around you, your eyes naturally won't work. Trust me, Captain, and walk where I tell you to."

>Trust her and keep moving!
>Hide instead!
>>
>>32088346
You fool, don't you understand the power of love? If Sailor Moon can weaponize her affection for her milquetoast easily-mind controlled masked roseman, imagine what Claire can do for her perfect darling.

Seriously though most of these guys aren't on her level, and Captain's no slouch when he's not being a moron.

How will Captain ever reach Intimacy 5 with Claire without trusting her?

Of course I also trust that she'll take the opportunity to whisper all kinds of things to Captain so long as she's the only thing in his world, but that's a small price to pay.

You don't like being led around by the nose, but you've got no choice in a situation like this. You nod and follow Claire's instructions as best as you can with your broken body. Truthfully it hurts a little to keep lugging Claire around, but you put on a brave face and try not to limp too much as you go through the corners of the base. In total darkness, the only thing you can make out is Claire's voice. You idly wonder if this is what hell would be like.

"Yes, you're doing very good, darling. While I have your total attention, there is a topic I would like to question you on, if you will indulge me."

No, you won't.

"Splendid. It is concerning our recent weeks together. You have been avoiding me more than usual, Darling. I very much enjoy your denial play, as the sexual tension we have no doubt been creating shall make the inevitable release that much sweeter, but I feel that your negligence is of a different sort."

If only you knew where Claire's face was, so you could slap it...

"Is there something troubling you? Have I offended you? If so, please let me know. I can be anything you want me to be..."

Something about that statement seems very, very sad. Putting that aside, should you even really answer Claire? You haven't given a clear explanation as to what happened with that mysterious doctor. Would it be a smart idea to tell her?

>>

Maybe it will get Claire to trust us and tell us of our secret past?
>>
You decide to tell Claire about the encounter. While you leave out the exact nature of the dark impulses that consumed you, you try to be overall truthful in your relation of the account. You hear Claire gasp without warning, an odd gesture for the girl hose every motion seems to have been measured and calculated. Tentatively, you ask her if anything's wrong. Were you spotted? Is there an obstacle?

"No. I'm fine. I must have injured myself earlier and am only now feeling the pain...Moreover, that sounds like a harrowing experience, Captain. Especially for one such as yourself, who has not had the mental conditioning to resist the Renegade's pull. However..."

Light suddenly returns to your eyes, and you're momentarily blinded.

"...As I have told you, the Renegade is a part of you now. That man was able to take advantage of you because there was such a stark divide between your mind and your emotions. Denying yourself to this degree is unhealthy."

Your vision clears, and you look around yourself. Soft, plush carpets. An inoffensive, but bland wall paper. A small space with only a single bed and dresser. A bathroom fresh with steam, did someone take a shower recently? The lights are soft and dim. A window with the blinds shuttered and the curtains drawn tight. This isn't a military bunker...it's a cheap hotel!? Your eyes fall on the bed to see Claire, who is laying down beneath the sheets. You look to the side to see her clothes have been discarded, folded neatly on the top of the dresser.

"Now, let yourself go wild," Claire brings the sheets up, covering the lower half of her face as she looks away from you, "Even if it is shameful and painful, I am prepared for it."

That's it. You're out of patience. You bite your lip and your hands shake...

>>
You won't tolerate this nonsense any more! You grab Claire and yank her from the bed. Claire gives a yelp of surprise as you drag her naked form to the bathroom and open the shower stall door. You turn the cold water on full blast and throw Claire into the freezing water and slam the door behind her.

"It's cold, darling. But..." The stall door begins to slide open, "No amount of cold can extinguish my burning love. Rather, this chill water is making me more sensitive."

You hold the door shut. First things first, how in the heck did you wind up here? Where's the bunker? Where are the ninjas?

"Ah," You can see Claire's silhouette tilt her head to the side, "We escaped four minutes and thirty-seven seconds after I cloaked us. After that, I led you to this love hotel. I originally intended to take you while you were unaware of the outside world, but when you opened yourself up to me I practically...you know."
>>
>>32090857

Now's not the time to get shy, you lewd freak! You slide down the shower stall door and sit on the tile floor. Looks like you can finally relax again...hm? What's this? You take a look at yourself. You've completely healed. You can feel your strength just waiting to be used. Just when did your powers decide to return? You hear a knocking on the glass door, and you look behind you. Claire has pushed her face up against the glass to the point where you can almost make out her features through the frosted panel.

"So, now that you're feeling more lively, shall not finally consummate our love? Today's a good day; I'm certain to become pregnant."

You lock the bathroom door from the outside and go sit down on the bed. The telephone sits next to you, along with a list of delivery restaurants. On that subject, you feel incredibly tired and weak. You might hazard a good nap or perhaps even give the UGN a call..

>You're going to die of hunger. Order room service/takeout.

"So--"

Claire sits on the bed with you, nibbling on a cheesesteak sandwich. She's had the decency to put on a robe, but try as you might, she refuses to get fully dressed 'just in case'. As if something like that would ever happen. You've been far too busy eating this room full of various take out foods. You pop a cream cheese rangoon into your mouth as Claire continues. Ugh, it tastes so bland. It's official then, you can't go back to regular food. Damn Claire and her culinary sabotage.

"The Strangers Unit is attempting to gather data on you in order to recreate the results of the AIR project? I'm sorry, but what is the AIR project really? I feel like I've heard the term before now but, strangely, I can't recall." Claire puts a hand to her face and looks down. Despite her stone faced appearance, you've gotten pretty good at reading her. Seems she's really concerned about this. You attempt to relate to her what you heard about the AIR project.

"Applied In-vitrio? That is nonsense."

What?

"To be perfectly clear, Overeds have been naturally birthed since they appeared, even spontaneously occurring from normal parents. Simply introducing the Renegade to a fetus or zygote would not make a difference. Whatever the Japanese believe the AIR project is, it cannot be that."

Then...are they lying to you, or are they just unaware themselves?

"It's possible that...that...I'm sorry," Claire shakes her head, "I've got a splitting headache right now."

Claire must have been more injured than you thought. Maybe you should do something for her.

>There was a tie so I just mashed the two suggestions together and reconfigured the next segment.

You push Claire down on the bed, ignoring her suggestive cry. You explain to her that she must still be hurt from all those attacks she sustained before you got captured, and that she should just relax and take it easy for a while. You're feeling stronger now, so it should be all right. Claire gives you her usual blank stare, but obediently crawls into bed and accepts the glass of water you bring her.

"Darling is very dashing when he's honest too. I never believed myself to play the role of the damsel very well, but I will let you protect me, Captain."

Can't you do something nice for her without her saying some horrendously embarrassing crap? You shake your head and pick up the phone. You've got to tell the UGN that both you and Claire managed to escape. As usual, it takes you about ten tries to get the password correct, but you're finally connected to the Chief's office. The moment the receiver clicks, your ears are bombarded with a cacophony of shouts and insults.

"You incorrigible fool! Where have you been? We all thought you were going to Japan in a body bag after that last attack!"

Sounds like she was worried...

"I was...I was not! I was only concerned that I might have lost Claire, my best agent! Speaking of that, is she okay?"

For the third time today, you try to explain the situation. Chief seems to be a little faster on the uptake than Claire was, however, and she goes silent for a few moments.

"They're finally after AIR, are they? They should know it won't work...Never mind that, you must leave! You need to get to old HQ, it's the only building strong enough to endure their attacks and I doubt you've truly lost them. Be on guard, an attack could come from anywhere!"
>>
>>32092604

You put the phone down and call out to Claire, but your partner doesn't respond. You walk over to her and take a closer look, and then your heart stops in your chest. Her eyes are completely dilated, and drool runs freely from her mouth. Her breathing is labored and shallow, and she's broken out with a fever. What could have...? You look at the food. Of course. Poison.

You've got no time to waste! You throw Claire over your shoulder and leap out of the window. You sail forward, carried by your freshly returned strength, landing on the rooftop of a nearby building. You take a glimpse at your surroundings, trying to figure out exactly what part of town you're in. Hm...by the looks of things, you're in the downtown area. Though it is already night, you can easily make out where you are. It should only take you about ten minutes to get to the old headquarters if you hurry. Especially if you take a shortcut...

You jump across the gaps, crossing from rooftop to rooftop. It might be a little conspicuous, but time is a factor here, and there's no faster way for you to get there than this. Everything is going smoothly except for Claire. You can feel her shivering, but her body is burning up. Sweat and drool drench your shoulder, and her breath catches in her throat. This poison is really doing a number on her.

"As it should!"

A man drops down from the night sky and lands in front of you. Dressed in loose white clothes and wearing a belt full of phials, every step he makes is accompanied by a swoosh and the clinking of glass.

"I am Kodoku, the Poison Master! If you wish to save your friend you must get past--"

You blow him away with a single strike, sending him tumbling to the ground below. Looks like you've been found out...

As you watch Kodoku, the Poison Master fall to the ground below and hit the cement with a satisfying splat, you feel a grin cross your face. Who cares if they want to pick a fight? You've got to get Claire to safety, no matter what. If that means you have to plow through dozens of men, then so be it. As if you invited them, the rank and file of the Strangers unit begins to crawl out of the woodworks, leaping down from nearby buildings, swinging out of windows, bursting through doors, and even breaking through the concrete to get at you. But these guys are small fry. You crush them with one hand, knocking the soldiers into each other, watching them pinball around the rooftops like the expendable nobodies that they are.

Even though they're not much, they seem to be endless. As soon as you've cleared the rooftop, you leap from it and crash into the apartment complex in front of you. Barreling through the flimsy drywall is no problem, your Warding knocking any passersby out as you derive those poor souls of their security deposits. Out of nowhere, you hear the crack of thunder, and a chunk of the building is torn out ahead of you. You recognize that sound.

It's the sniper.

Even through the concrete, brick, and drywall of the apartment complex, he was only a few inches off. And now he's blown a hole clear through them, giving him a clear line of sight. Though you can't see the sniper, you can only imagine he's another member of these Strangers. And then, off in the distance you see it. A flash off the scope. That must be him! You focus your senses and you can hear it. A round being chambered. Breathing coming to a standstill. A finger on the trigger. He's going to shoot! Now's the time!

Even if it's a powerful gun, sniping is the art of precision.

Even though you can hear the shot ring out and feel the bullet tear through your body, you don't stop with your plan. You rip some lead piping from the side of the building and narrow your eyes aiming for the muzzle flash you just saw. With a great heave, you toss the pipe like a javelin. It shoots out through the night and disappears into the distance. You hear a sharp cry and the rifle goes off once more. The shot goes wildly up into the air and you see a gun fall down to the ground below. Seems your own shot in the dark was pretty good after all. You put a hand to your stomach to check on your wound. Though the blood flows freely, you can feel your regeneration kicking into full speed. Your strength is already back, and that's a good thing. Before you can make it three steps onto the next rooftop, you're surrounded by more Strangers soldiers, this time accompanied by a new face. She is covered with armor formed of chitin, and wicked talons grow from her hands and feet.

"I am Hayame, the Black Tortoise. I'm sorry, but today you will fall before me!"

As if. You smash the ground beneath you, causing the rooftop to collapse. The Strangers soldiers fall over themselves as they descend, many of them being crushed by the rubble, but Hayame hits the ground without flinching. Her black armor glistens and she scrapes her talons together in anticipation. With a snarl, she stabs your wounds and holds you up above her head. Claire's body still dangles uselessly behind you. An attack like this normally wouldn't be too bad, but since you have to cover Claire...

Hayame digs into your flesh further, sending her claws straight through your frame and towards Claire!

Guessing this was one of those situations where there are situational objectives to base the decision on, i.e. guarding to protect Claire.

>>
>Strike Successful
>Your Advantage: 2

It's a little dirty for you, but you don't have a choice. You will your hands to become your claws and then plunge them deep into Hayame's eye sockets. The Stranger writhes in pain and loses focus for just a moment, but a moment is all you need. With the utmost speed, you aim for the weak points in her chitin, along her joints and soft underbelly. In a flash, you've severed her arms and spilled her guts across the floor, sending a red haze across the empty room. You'd feel bad for her, if you didn't know she'd be back up in a few minutes, and that's time you don't have. You leave the Stranger to her fate as you enter the home stretch of your getaway.

Claire is getting worse. Her fever has broken, but now she feels deathly cold. Her breathing has become slow and even more shallow, and her heartbeat has grown faint and irregular. Even though she's an Overed, could it be that Claire is...dying? Is it possible to kill an Overed this way? You shake your head. It's not too far now. You won't be stopped here!

"Hold it!"

A black void appears, and out of it drops the same ninja who has opposed you twice now. Looks like she got over that broken neck faster than you thought she would. Her face is pink with embarrassment and she draws her sword.

"How dare you abuse my pure maiden's heart like that! I, Kuroko of the Phantasmal Night, will see you and your pretty wench suffer!"
>>
>>32095310

Without any more pomp and circumstance, she divides herself displaying her multiplication technique once more. Thousands of knives rain down from the clones above you as the copies to the side take up bow and arrow and begin firing. At the back, you can see several cooperating to use her clan's 'secret technique' again, releasing the crushing wave of darkness at you again. Behind them all, you see what can only be the mastermind Kuroko, her arms crossed, standing just one hundred yards from the doors of HQ. Does she know and is trying to keep you from it? Or is it lucky coincidence?

In any event, the wave of attacks is coming towards you, eerily silent in their approach, with Kuroko's watchful gaze pinned upon you.

You know what you have to do. You leap back and toss Claire high up into the air. You hope she'll forgive you for it later, but you're going to need two hands for this. Before Claire can reach the apex of her flight, you slam both of your hands into the concrete, causing the earth to shake. With a grunt, you pull at the surface, ripping it up from the ground and sending a wave of stone and rebar towards the countless Kurokos. They stop in their tracks, instantly cowed by the tidal advance of gravel and steel. They turn to run, but it is too late for them. The wave dashes them across the ground, throwing them down to the streets below. Without a second thought, you catch Claire at the last moment and advance on the final remaining Kuroko. The ninja is visibly shaken, and her legs give out as you advance upon her. She waves her sword out in front of her, all pretense of skill or bravery gone. You didn't think it was that frightening...is this girl just a coward?

"I can't believe it! The Strangers Unit 02...my dignity as a woman...both destroyed by you! Why?"
>>
>>32096014
Even if she asks why...isn't it just because they attacked you and Claire? The ninja chokes back a sob.

"Going this far just because we attacked your girlfriend...The file didn't say you were a romantic! This wasn't the plan!"

You're going to have to take a serious look at those files later, but for now, you satisfy yourself by delivering a sharp blow to the back of her head. You leave the ninja on the street as you head into HQ. The moment you cross the threshold, thick metal shutters drop down over every possible entrance, and the floor begins to sink. You are rushed by dozens of nurses, with Shining Void at the helm. She snatches Claire from you and places her on a table. On her face is a look of serious concern.

"Hey, playboy, how long has she been like this?"

You don't know, fifteen? Twenty minutes? Void grows pale at your answer, and pushes you aside.

"Get back. This is going to take some time..."

You're shoved aside and led down by what you recognize as Chief's Blood Servants. HQ looks different now. Much...frillier. If you were in a different mood, you'd make fun of it for being cute, but with this atmosphere...

You're led into a room and told to wait. You take a seat and let your mind wander. It is then that your exhaustion finally catches up to you. The world gets fuzzy and dark without warning, and you lose consciousness in under a minute. You only hope you don't have a bad dream.

>>32096507
Cap claims he remembers fist grade. His earliest dream has him around four or five.
>>
>>32096524
>fist
First. Obviously. He most certainly not attend a secret monastic school for the martial arts.
>>
>>32096548
>He most certainly not attend a secret monastic school for the martial arts.
Lame
>>
>>32096548
Of course not, that would be silly. Right Kuroko?

Speaking of, Strangers Unit 02. What happened to the first one?
>>
Exactly how long has the Capt gone coffee at this point?
>>
>>32096602
Half a year, or thereabouts.

>>32096592
Not deployed. There are four Strangers Units. Unit 02 was made when a legit ninja clan showed that its members were Overed. Units 1, 3, and 4 are more conventional
>>
>>32096638
So, if the Strangers blew up the house and grabbed Captain, didn't Seven have a perfect chance to escape? Claire went haring off after darling and there's probably not much in the way of defenses left...

Did Chief just shut Seven down or was there no opportunity made?
>>
Is Shining Void romanceable?
>>
>>32096690
Seven's bunker is very deep. Captain lost his house, but it didn't penetrate that far.

>>32096694
She's past her expiration date.
>>
>>32096739
Outside Cap's strike zone, huh? What's his type anyway?

Have we made any progress on the sidequests of non-Claire characters?
>>
>>32096780
>Have we made any progress on the sidequests of non-Claire characters?
Chief has had significant progress. The others...less so. That's something of my fault too, because my ability to fit them into the story did not match my ambitions for the characters.
>>
>>32096829
Put Claire out of commission for an arc. Chief has to assign a new minder to Captain. Problem becomes hilarious as Claire leaves her replacement instructions on how to serve Captain while she's away.
>>
>>32096780
>What's his type anyway?
Captain's old materials were all over the place. If there is one similarity, it's that he likes a variety of costumes.
>>
>>32096899
Well that works out perfectly then. We've got a character who likes to dress up waiting in the wings, and the best thing is she comes with an tag along.
>>
>>32096899
>old materials
What about the new materials? Or are those confiscated by Chief for moral(e) purposes?
>>
>>32096945
His new materials are supplied by Claire and taken by Chief. He looked once, but they were all just pictures of Claire. He doesn't miss them much.
>>
>>32096985
Oh right, we didn't have a "Goddamnit Claire!" for this thread. Phew, almost forgot.
>>
>>32096985
I can guess the answer, but what does Chief do with the pictures?

Seriously question: Is Lunatic High's mentor/pupil relationship typical for UGN Overed? Why was Lunatic, specifically, chosen as Claire's mentor?
>>
>>32097049
Nah, I had one during the love hotel scene.
>>
>>32097058
>I can guess the answer, but what does Chief do with the pictures?
Lectures Claire on being indecent.

>Seriously question: Is Lunatic High's mentor/pupil relationship typical for UGN Overed?
Not originally. Lunatic High pushed specifically for better treatment of the Children's Unit. It's why she supported Chief's appointment.

>Why was Lunatic, specifically, chosen as Claire's mentor?
It was decided that Lunatic, despite her many flaws, is actually very good with kids. She has a natural, big sister sort of aura.
>>
>>32096899
>>32096985
but DXR, a loving wife taking pictures to make her man happy is my fetish
>>
>>32097102
I'm glad I could give you something you enjoy.
>>
>>32097085
>Lectures Claire on being indecent.
Does it work? Rhetorical question, this is Claire after all.

At school, do any of the UGN people have contact with non-Overed individuals? How far do civilian Overed manage to reintegrate with human society in the US/elsewhere notable?
>>
>>32097117
Oh, I can't believe I haven't asked the most important question for this quest to date.

Can Captain waifu the ninja?
>>
>>32097145
No, you broke her heart.

>>32097132
Some can recover quite well, but most feel a palpable distance between themselves and regular humans. It is this distance that usually drives them into the various Overed centered organizations, for good or ill.
>>
>>32097169
Alas.

and you have my thanks
>>
>>32097169
but Captain's lewd assault ruined her maidens heart, we have to make her an honest mistress cause Claire ain't bein' no back up chick
>>
>>32097169
Technically that was Claire. And it was her neck, not her heart.

We've talked about Overed in the military, are there Overed who apply their powers in the civilian sector? To what ends?
>>
>>32097218
>We've talked about Overed in the military, are there Overed who apply their powers in the civilian sector? To what ends?
Those are typically illegals. A doctor who can heal any illness, a fortune teller who will never steer you wrong, a witch at the end of the street. Those are all examples of them. They're usually stopped by one organization or another before long.
>>
>>32096032
Look like he captain is going to need to get into Necrophilla
>>
>>32097245
>Doctors that heal anything
>people who can see into the future and help out peopel
>being stop by an organizatoin

There some Black Jack Overed somewhere in the world not giving a fuck about anything but saving people lives.
