You are ELSA KONIG, a witch and a proud member of the German Airborne, or, more appropriately, the Fallschirmjagers. You were part of a long and proud line of witches and soldiers who served with distinction in the German armed forces. In fact, you believe your very own grandfather, a famed sniper, fought alongside Simo Haya and Vasily Zaitsev during the Martian War. At least that's what he claims.

And now the Fatherland requires your prestigious bloodline to put its life on the line once again. Not too long ago, the USSR declared war on the entirety of Europe, and has pushed literally up to Berlin's doorstep. While the lines have stabilized, the fate of your country is on the knife's edge.

And that's where you come in.

Currently, you and your unit are stationed in Holzdorf Air Base, waiting for an assignment. You know Command has been itching to take the fight to the Russians, and the Fallschirmjager were equipped to do just that.

Haha, it's time to go find Lisa!

You and Lisa had been partners since your Academy days, which was odd since the both of you couldn't be more different. where you were rather loud, brash, and outspoken, Lisa tended to be quiet, timid, and a little shy. However, much to your annoyance, this also extended to your physical appearances as well. You were, well.... "shorter than average", is all that you're willing to say. Lisa, however, was tall for a girl, at least a complete head taller than you were.

She also had really thick frontal armor, too... not that you were complaining.

And there you see Lisa strolling along the tarmac, no doubt to go check up on her strikers.

Ha, when it comes to greeting Lisa, it's not through any halfhearted shit like a simple wave and hello. Nope, your proud German blood tells you to BLITZKRIEG THE SHIT OUTTA THAT GREETING.

"LISSAAAAAA!~" You yell as you lunge forward in a full power tackle. However, due to your size difference, Lisa isn't even pushed back. It also helps that she's got a pair of huge shock absorbers, which you totally didn't mash your face into on purpose.

"E-Elsa!" Lisa sighs. "I see you're energetic as always."

"Yep!" You grin. "Gotta use that energy for SOMETHING! We've just been sitting here on base ever since the Russians rolled in!"

"We just have to be patient, Elsa." Lisa shakes her head. "Anyways, I was going to check on our strikers. You want to come with me?"

"Nah, I was gonna check in with the Captain to see if we actually have a mission yet." You say.

"Ah, well, I guess I can come with you then..." Lisa nods, habitually adjusting her glasses.

"Cool!" You grin before striding off to the Captain's office.

Captain Domel was, well... a pretty gruff man who didn't like to play around. You found that out the hard way when he kicked your ass on a couple of occasions when you didn't take things seriously, despite the fact you were a witch. He certainly was not a believer in "witch privilege", that's for sure. However, despite being a hardass, the Captain really did prioritize looking out for the well being of the men and witches under his command.

"Elsa, remember to behave." Elsa warns.

"I know."

"And straighten up your posture. Don't slouch."

"Yeah yeah."

"And do you have to wear that camo poncho everywhere you go?" Lisa sighs.

"Hey, this is Grandpa's!" You assert, tugging at the green and brown fabric draped around your shoulders. "It kept his ass alive in the Martian War, and he passed it down to me hoping it would do the same in this one!"

"Okay, okay." Lisa sighs.

By this point, you've reached the Captain's office door. THIS TIME, you remember to knock before entering. You don't want to recall the last time you didn't.

"Enter." You hear your CO grunt.

Both you and Lisa step into the office and salute sharply, like you were trained to do.

"Ah, Konig, Ritwell, I was just about to summon you." Captain Domel glances at the both of you. "At ease."

"Sir, I was just wondering if-"

"Yes, I know, Elsa, you want a mission." Captain Domel nods. "Command has been keeping us back as a reserve force in case of a Russian breakthrough, but now that reinforcements from France, England, and the United States have started to arrive, they feel it safe to allow us to conduct finally conduct offensive operations."

You fight the urge to cheer, knowing that it would be unprofessional, and the Captain really hated unprofessional.

"So what are we doing?"

"A raid." Captain Domel drops a folder on the desk in front of you. You and Lisa shuffle through them see a lot of grainy pictures of planes.

"Intelligence reports that the Russians have moved a squadron of Flanker-Cs into Poland. Our job is a deep penetration mission to provide aid to local resistance groups and to destroy the planes."

"Flanker whats?" You raise an eyebrow. You were a tankwitch so you usually weren't concerned with all that flying mumbo jumbo.

"Please phrase that in a proper question." Domel says flatly as he shoots a rubber eraser that hits you square in the forehead with a precision that would make your grandfather proud.

"Gah!" You squeak as you rub your forehead. Lisa just gives you the "should've seen that coming" look.

"Okay," You take a breath, "what I mean is, some details would be nice."

"I would tell you the read the file, but I know you wouldn't bother." Domel sighs. "Flanker-Cs are cutting edge Russian fighters. According to intel, they're not even supposed to EXIST yet, but we're starting to see them deployed in limited numbers. They first showed up in Alaska and gave the American witches a very hard time. Currently, NATO has the upper hand in the air war, if only slightly, but the presence of these new planes might change that."

"Ah, okay. What about the other half of the mission?"

"We'll also be inserting military advisers who will help organize and train the Polish partisans into effective fighters. We also know that Russian air power is also giving them a hard time, so the United States is also donating quite a number of Stinger missile launchers to the cause."

"Ah, cool." You nod. "When do we leave?"

"Tonight." Domel says. "This is a time sensitive mission. We don't know if those Flankers are going to be moved or not, so we need to hit them while we still know they're there."

>>
>>32073784
"We'll be ready, sir." Lisa assures him.

"I know you will, at least." Domel sighs. "Make sure Konig here remembers to check ALL of her equipment. I don't care how good a shot she is, if she keeps forgetting kit she'll regret it."

"I'll be sure to remind her." Lisa chuckles nervously.

Man, what a hardass.

"Okay, time to do an equipment check, then!" Lisa says happily as she tugs out of the office.

"But I don't wanna! It's booooooooring!" You squeal. "Can't you just do it for me like always?"

"Fiiiiiiiiiiiine." You pout. But you weren't going to make it easy. You make Lisa work for every inch she has to drag you.

And of course, being as detail oriented as she is, Lisa makes you check EVERYTHING. Your first aid kit. Your survival kit. Your navigation aids. Rations. All your straps and buttons and pouches. Hell, she even made you count every single individual bullet you were carrying!

Really, the only two things you enjoyed ever inspecting were your gun and your striker. While most sniper witches tended to use piddly 7.62mm sniper rifles, you tended to like larger caliber weapons. You respected those American sniper witches that used the .50 BMG, but you had something that topped even THAT.

Your hands slide over the smooth, cold frame of your XM109 rifle. It was based on the .50 caliber rifles the Americans like to use, but this one in particular was a limited run model that fired 25mm shells, capable of knocking out an armored vehicle from 2 kilometers. It never went into full production because normal soldiers couldn't handle the insane recoil.

Good thing you weren't a normal soldier.

"Ha ha, let's see how you deal with dirty Russians." You giggle softly as you pat your rifle.

"Are you talking to your rifle again?" Lisa sighs.

"Yes, It speaks to me and I to it. She is everything to me and I am everything to her. I am nothing without her and she is nothing without me. I love my rifle and she loves me, and we tell each other this every day." You say in the most serious tone you can manage.

Lisa just looks at you shocked, as if you'd just gone off the deep end of madness. You just stare back at her with a blank expression until you can't hold it in anymore and snort with laughter.

"Ah, I was just fucking with you!" You laugh. "But seriously, you don't treat your own weapon as a comrade in arms?"

"Well, I do care for it greatly and make sure it's always in working order." Lisa cradles her G11 in her arms. You heard those things had the risk of exploding spontaneously, but it never seemed to bother Lisa. "But, I don't really see them as actual living things. Just important tools for our work."

"God you are so goddamn WEIRD, sometimes, Lisa." You roll your eyes and finally cross off the last item on your checklist. "Okay, we are DONE."

"Not yet!" Lisa tuts. "Our strikers!"

"Riiiiiiight."

Unlike most other tankwitches, you didn't use strikers based on actual tanks. Your strikers were based on the little Wiesel, so they stressed being lightweight, portable, and highly maneuverable. Wiesel strikers were basically the bare minimum of components needed to even be considered a striker. It basically had focus for protection and basic propulsion. While the protection wasn't quite as good as your heavier Leopard cousins, you had the full range of movement, and you could be airlifted in a regular helo or airdropped from a plane, which was indispensable for an airborne unit like yours. Lisa sported the same set of Wiesel strikers you did.

>>
>>32074709
"Everything seems in order." Lisa nods as she goes over her striker and checks it against the maintenance reports.

"Same here." You say. "No faults."

"And that's it" Lisa says cheerfully. "Now all we have to do is wait for the order to mount up!"

"Fine, I guess we can sit around and talk about our FEELINGS while we wait." You sigh, sitting down. "How are things doing back home?"

"Well, my family no longer has to live in a refugee camp anymore." Lisa says. "The Matron just wrote back, saying she's arranged living arrangements for them at the castle. Same for all the other witches whose families have been displaced, really."

"Huh, that's might charitable of her." You whistle.

"How about your family?" Lisa asks.

"Ah, well, they're doing fine. My dad's garrisoned in Berlin now, holding the line. Grandpa's still trying to convince the recruiters to let him reenlist."

"Ha, it sounds like they're just as lively as ever." Lisa chuckles. "How about your mother?"

"Still terrorizing entire classes of strike witch cadets." You grin. "Glad I didn't go to flight school."

"All right! We're moving out!" You see one of the unit officers marching through the armory. "Get your gear and get going!"

Both you and Lisa get fitted into your strikers. Due to how light and small they were, you were pretty sure you could slip them on yourself, but protocol dictated that you have a full support team assist you.

The sun it already beginning to set when your and Lisa rumble out onto the tarmac, a trio of CH-53s ready and waiting. You know two of them were dedicated to carrying troops, while the third was carrying supplies meant for your Polish friends.

"Everybody is already loaded up." Captain Domel says. "Which helicopter you take is your choice."

Huh, well, you could always ride with the other men, give something to do, but being a witch, hanging around with a platoon of guys in a cramped helicopter could get... awkward. You knew if you rode in the cargo helo, you could get more privacy.

Eh, it'd just get lonely with only Lisa for company on what was probably going to be a looooooong helo ride. You hop into the the nearest troop helo.

"Yo! Looks like we'll be hitching a ride with you guys!" You say as you take a seat alongside Lisa.

"Elsa! Good to see you coming along with us!" Sergeant Oswin grins. "I suppose you're excited for combat?"

"Yep!" You nod. "How are your guys doing?"

"Excited. Anxious. For many of these men it will be their first time in combat as well." Oswin sighs. "It's been such a long time since the Martian War. Many of the veterans are either dead or no longer fit to serve. They would have been such a great help to the effort."

"On the bright side, the same goes for the Russians." You point out.

"That it does!" Oswin laughs. "Say, Elsa, there have been rumors spreading among the men. Some troubling ones."

"Like...?" You raise an eyebrow.

"Your, erm, exact relationship with Lisa." Oswin sighs. "I mean, most of us know it's just harmless fun, but rumors have a nasty habit of spreading, you know?"

"Can you get to the point here?"

"Well, erm, are you and Lisa really... um... together?"

You just blink while Lisa's face turns crimson when she realizes the implications of what he's saying.

>girl enjoying stuffing her face in another girl's assets not ship teasing

It's like most people in /tg/ still can't see the obvious in character relationships
>>
>>32076130
One we choose to tackle her, and considering the series of both Strike Witches and Strike Witeches 89, this is more or less okay
>>
>>32076153
it rules of being 100% straight as well at least and in the closet at most, same as a guy having an interest in another man's dick.
>>
>>32076173
Considering how hard anon votes for dick whenever the choice of sexuality comes up in quests, I'm pretty sure most people here are closet faggots.
>>
>>32076173
Only the insecure will not have an interest in another man's dick
>>
Through dick, Unity.

"Nope. Straight as an arrow." You say nonchalantly. "I just like messing Lisa, that's all. Like this!"

You then lean back and have your head plop down on Lisa's chest like a makeshift people. Lisa squeaks and blushes, since you're pretty much teasing her in front of an entire platoon of men.

"Hmph. Should've figured." Oswin laughs. "Got a boyfriend then?"

"What, you proposing to me?"

"No, just curious."

"Naw, haven't had time for that shit." You shrug. "Right now, I'm more concerned with shooting Russians."

"Fair enough." Oswin nods.

By now, it was already the middle of the night, and the outside was pitch black. Because you were going into enemy territory, none of the helos has their running lights on, so you can only vaguely make out their silhouettes.

"Mayday, mayday!" You hear a voice crackle over the radio. "This is Falcon 3. We are suffering engine failure and losing altitude!"

"Can you recover?" You hear Domel reply.

"Negative! We're too low! Attempting emergency landing!"

You then hear a loud WHUMP.

"Damnit!" Domel curses. "Konig, Ritwell, get down there and secure the crash site! The rest of us will continue the mission as planned!"

"What do we do about the cargo?"

"If it can be salvaged, get to the rendezvous point. If it can't, destroy it. We can't afford to let the Russians get their hands on those weapons." Domel says.

"Roger." You nod.

It's okay to admit you suck dicks bro, we're all anonymous here
>>
>>32076230
Your helo stops in the air and hovers as close to the ground as it can. You and Lisa give one last salute to Domel and Oswin before leaping out. The drop is a lot longer than you thought it would be, but your strikers absorb most of the shock. The both of you speed off to the crash site, which you can see now because of the fires. That was NOT good.

However, once you reach the crash, you sadly had to write off the pilot and copilot. They were simply too low to land safely, and the helo crashed head on into a tree, crushing the cockpit in. Both crew were dead on impact.

At least it was fast.

The next few minutes are spent pulling the crates of stingers clear of the crash site and away from the fires.

"The Russians are definitely going to notice that." Lisa frowns.

"Assuming that they didn't shoot it down in the first place." You point out.

"Then what do we do?"

You first instinct was to just destroy the launchers and run. However, you were also aware just how badly the Polish resistance needed those launchers. You pull out your map and check your current position. According to intel, there should be a resistance outpost nearby. Maybe you could link up with them...

>Too risky. Just destroy the cargo and rendezvous with the others.
>Take what you can carry and destroy the rest.

I'm sorta curious as to why /tg/ is so opposed to lesbians in quests. I can only think of 2 MCs who actually are, along with some of the side-MCs in HQR.
>>
>>32076251
>>32076327
Anon makes a good point.

>Try to make contact with the Resistance so they can secure the launchers.
>>
>>32076363
Dude, you really need to see the statistics of most quest involving female protags.

That's not involving anonkuns.
>>
>>32076363
I'm not sure, but I think that /tg/ doesn't like /u/boats forcing the relationships.
>>
>>32076363
/u/boats, ugh
>>
>>32076363
Mostly, people from /u/ are insufferable asshats. It doesn't help that most quests are written so people can insert themselves in the shoes of the character (or insert themselves as the person giving the dick to the main character, be they male or female).
>>
>>32076363

I'm sick of the /u/boats personally.
>>
>>32076431
Not everyone who likes lesbians is from /u/.
>>
>>32076251
"Okay... we'll try to make contact with the Resistance." You say. "They can take care of the launchers."

"But how?" Lisa asks.

"There should be a Resistance camp nearby. If we can find it, we can get them to help us." You say.

"Okay!" Lisa nods.

You spend a few minutes gathering up all the stingers and covering them up with brush and camo netting to hide them as best you can. You then set off into the forest.

"Okay, Lisa, stay back. I'll lead."

"I thought it was my turn to lead." Lisa narrows her eyes.

"Is it? I don't recall."

To be honest, you didn't really want to risk Lisa leading. Though she was well trained she just had this quality about her, you couldn't quite explain what, that made you doubt her ability to react quickly in a surprise situation. Plus, you were better armed with your XM109 over her piddly little G11. Then again, as your spotter, she had supernaturally sharp senses. Better than yours.

>>32076504
It's really more the latter. There's a certain amount of wish fulfillment going on in quests (which is why somefolks get buttmad when they don't get what they want)
>>
>>32076525
>>Let Lisa take the lead.
>>32076504
Fair point, but again more often then not quests that have a gender choice choose female, and if we're a female protagonist more often then not they try to hook up with other girls.

It's actually quite rare to have a quest where the main character who isn't a lesbian.

Magical Girl Hunter almost became such a quest
>>
>>32076525
>Let Lisa take the lead.

>>32076407
>>32076431
>>32076463
So some people from /u/ came to /tg/ purely to spam quests to get lesbians? That's honestly a pretty shitty reason.

I can understand something like not wanting Alice, for example, as a lesbian, but for a oneshot like this? Why even drag waifushit into it?
>>
>>32076594
But you understand the reason for that, right? Heterosexual men aren't inclined to roleplay as a heterosexual female unless the male romantic interest is REALLY good.
>>
>>32076604
Honestly, doubt this will be just a one-shot. Also this character will show up in Strike Witches 89 and Parachute Witches.
>>
>>32076594
>Magical Girl Hunter almost became such a quest
>almost

But Alice didn't express any real interest in anyone but Leo, and even ended up with a guy in the epilogue. She was completely straight.
>>
>>32076604
Keep in mind: the most contested vote of this entire thread has been deciding whether or not Elsa was a carpet muncher. You bet your ass people were samefagging on both sides.

Anything regarding sex and relationships makes /tg/'s head spin. You can put obvious hints that a couple actually fucked, and swear to god /tg/ will argue "MAYBE THEY DIDN'T, I'M JUST ASKING QUESTIONS"

I think it's because most people on /tg/ are virgins.
>>
>>32076363
I find it to be silly as well... bi isn't the same as completely gay, though I'd wager it'd be fear of /u/boats running amok, considering how they hate the SWQ family for mixing dicks with witches and not in a futa way.
>>
>>32076625
That is a pretty shitty reason actually since unless we're around the guy constantly, he'll be labeled as a creep or dull or plain

but when a girl that does no more but say hi to us.

"Oh, Girl A has so much more personality then Guy B who has been with us"
>>
>>32076671
That's heterosexuality for you.

Male romantic interests just have to go an extra mile to replicate it.
>>
>>32076645
That was before until the introduction of Egan and her asking us to kiss a magical girl for science, and anons wanting to do so against those that don't
>>
>>32076525
"Fine, you can take the lead." You sigh and drop back a bit.

The next few minutes just consist of you follow Lisa as she carefully picks her way through the trees and brush. There's pretty much no other noise other than the dull hum of your strikers.

"Wait up for a second." Lisa whispers. She kneels down and takes her glasses off, and that's when you knew she was getting serious. Her glasses weren't meant to improve her vision, only control it. Unrestricted, Lisa could literally see just about anything.

"There's... somebody out there." Lisa says. "Pretty close. No more than a hundred meters ahead of us. Definitely armed, and I think he knows something is out here."

"Russian? Local?"

"Sorry, it's too dark for me to tell." Lisa shakes her head. "How should we do this?"

"It's time to GO COMMANDO." You say.

"Oh please no..." Lisa groans.

"Relax, I'm keeping my shorts on this time." You smirk. "I'm just taking off my strikers for a bit."

"O-Oh, yes, of course!" Lisa nods rapidly.

You hit the release switches on each of your legs to disengage your strikers. You then pull out a pair of shoes from your pack. Never hurt to be prepared, you know, and it would suck having to walk barefoot in a forest. You also stow away your rifle. It wouldn't do good in a situation like this. Instead, you switch to your knife and Glock.

Without the strikers, you make hardly any noise as you prowl through the forest. It's here that you realize you're back in your element. Out in the wilderness, with limited resources, with only one goal in mind. To hunt. Your familiar unconsciously pops out as you give in to your hunter instincts. Time seems to slow down, and your sense grow sharper. You can feel the wind blowing, you can smell the the prey's breath in the air. You almost forget about the darkness and the cold night air biting into your bare legs.

To his credit, your prey is clued in to your presence and whips around on his back, rifle pointed at you just as you point your glock at him.

"Russian?!" He asks in accented English.

"Deutschland." You reply simply.

You see his eyes widen.

"German?"

"Ja." You nod. Your English was a bit rusty, but you still knew enough. "Resistance?"

"Yes." The boy nods rapidly.

"Hey! Is everything all right?" Lisa asks.

"Yeah! We just found the Resistance!" You respond. You turn back to the Resistance fighter, holster your glock, and hold your hand out to help him up to his feet. "Hey kid, you got a name?"

"...Alek." He says, taking your hand.

Christ, he couldn't be much older than you were. It always shocked you to see non-witches fighting at such a young age.

"Okay, Alek, we've got a problem." You say. "We've got a helicopter full of weapons that crashed. Weapons meant for your guys. How many people to you have?"

"Here? Four." He says. "Including me."

You wince. That wasn't as many as you hoped for. Alek seems to see your expression and continues.

"We're just scouts. But we have a truck! We can use it to carry."

Well, that would make things easier, but trucks weren't exactly stealthy...

"All right, Alek, go grab your friends and the truck. We'll go secure the site until you get there." You say. "It only about three hundred meters west of here. Can't miss it. Look for the fires."

"Got it." Alek nods. He picks up his old hunting rifle and dashes off into the forest.

"All right Lisa, this is where things get interesting." You grin.

"I... I don't like it when you smile like that..." Lisa sighs.

It takes a few minutes for you shimmy back into your strikers, and both you and Lisa zip back to the crash site. However, you find that you're not the only ones there anymore.

"Crap." You seethe as you and Lisa take cover behind some trees. Illuminated against the fires, you can see several men, no more than a half dozen, milling around the crash site.

"Lisa, can you ID them?" You ask.

"Let's see...." Lisa takes off her glasses and narrows her eyes. "They don't look like regular military... from the armbands I'm thinking they're local militia. Collaborating with the Russians."

"Oh, so we can shoot them, then." You grin as you check your rifle.

"W-wait!" Lisa shakes her head. "Look, they don't seem to have found the launchers. I think we should just let this play out. Maybe they'll leave without causing a fuss."

"That's a big if." You say.

"And we just shoot them up it'll be guaranteed reinforcements would come." Lisa retorts.

>>
>>32078299
There is some actual evidence to indicate that there was a real sniper named Major König, on both the German and Soviet sides of the conflict; though admittedly they are sort of sparse.

There are some sources that claim the popularised König's accomplishments are taken from the exploits of another German sniper by the last name of Thorvald, who *does* have some fairly complete records, but it's kind of up in the air as to whether they're the same person or not.

So it's not CoH/EatG being referenced, but rather the original personae they drew the inspirations for their characters from.
