15 years ago, the world died and was reborn in the fires of the Second Impact. Following the cataclysm, the balance of power was altered forever. It brought starvation and death, war and disease.

But the disaster also brought the seeds of recovery with the alien material Tiberium. This crystalline compound leeched minerals from the soil, making them easy to extract and harvest. The resulting revolution in materials science spurred technological development, growth and prosperity.

But the riches of the Tiberium-fueled economy didn't benefit the entire world. Soon, political tension erupted into all-out war between the UN-sponsored Global Defense Initiative and the secretive Brotherhood of Nod, an ancient secret society ruled by an enigmatic messiah figure known as Kane.

The Tiberium War recently ended, the GDI emerging as decisive victor as the UN-led forces planted the eagle flag on the ruins of the Temple in Sarajevo. But the world is not at peace. Mercenary bands and terrorist organizations battle in the ruins of the old world. Intending to flee the poisoned earth, old power blocs scramble to construct space elevators to settle their population in orbital habitats. In the depths of zones overrun by Tiberium growth, mutated wildlife and humans stir.

You are part of this world, and in the battles to come, you will shape its future. But first: Who are you?

NAME: MICHAEL WALTER
RANK: MAJOR
REPUTATION: ARM SLAVE ACE
LOCATION: ENROUTE TO GDI CAMP GOLF, KINGDOM OF AZADISTAN

Dust settles in the haze on the horizon. The humvee you're in rocks gently as the driver traverses the gravel road "The GDI sent us to war, but it forgot to send us home when we won." The man next to you, Sergeant Kwaszlowski, takes a measured sip from his canteen and turns back to watch the sunset filtering through the window slits. "I don't mean to sound like a whiner, Sir, but I can't see what the hell we're doing here. Those KPSA's aren't even Nod, for Christ's sake. Shouldn't we just leave this to the local army?"

Jetlagged and worn out as you are, your first impulse is to nod in agreement. But then, you hesitate. How would you like to respond?

>Agree. You don't know what you're doing here either, and pissed off about it.
>Disagree. The GDI's mission isn't just to fight Nod, it's to keep the peace worldwide. Take this opportunity to rant and discipline the ignorant sergeant.
>Shrug. We're soldiers, we do what we're ordered. Then try and get some sleep.

You turn to the sergeant. "We're the good guys, Kwaszlowski. Good guys don't get vacations."

He looks back at you, eyes tired and red. "I know that, Sir. I just wish we weren't the only good guys in the damn world. It feels like we need to be everywhere."

You nod. "We do. If Nod comes back, we need to be ready for them." The sergeant fidgets in his seat. "All due respect, Sir, I just wish the rotation periods weren't so long. I've got a wife back in Poland, kids... They're right on the edge of the Tiberium zone. And the longer I sit in this hole, the more I worry about them."

You offer some reassuring words, but you don't know if it's any help to the now quiet soldier. The rest of the trip is spent in silence, punctuated only by the driver's instruction to put on NBC gear as you pass through a Tiberium high-density area. You try to sleep in the heavy gas mask, and tired as you are, you almost succeed.

Emerging through the glowing field that crunches like glass under the humvee's wheels, the final stretch of road leads you to the base.

It's a small encampment centered around a large Tiberium refinery and flanked by guard towers, patrolled by tired soldiers. A sentry scans your ID card, looks you over and waves the car inside. You stretch as you exit the vehicle. Sergeant Kwaszlowski gives you a brief salute as he wanders off to the barracks. The driver (you never did get his name) is gone too. You're left alone with your suitcase and PDA.

Snubbing the relative comfort of the barracks bunk, and the temptation of getting drunk in the canteen, you make your way to the concrete prefab command center to your right. Stepping through the airlock, you find the usual scene: technicians and tac-ops officers hunched around displays and consoles. You are quickly herded into one of the side rooms. A balding black man in a GDI uniform is there, seated behind a desk. In front of the desk stands a woman in glasses and a grey, austere business suit. They both stir as you enter.

You salute the officer. He walks up to you and gives you a stern, inspecting look as he shakes your hand. "Major Walter? Andrew Stryer, base commander." He turns his gaze to the woman, motioning for her to approach. "This is Shirin Bakhtiar, GDI advisor on local affairs and our liaison with the Kingdom of Azadistan."

"Sir. Ma'am." You acknowledge them curtly. "My order to transfer here was high-priority. I take it this means there's something very urgent you need me for?"

"You're correct, Major." The commander presses a few buttons on a remote, and a display comes to life behind him. "10 hours ago, we sent a convoy to evacuate civilians from a village that was being overrun by Tiberium growth. A routine mission. 7 hours and 23 minutes ago, we lost contact with the convoy. We sent a patrol into the zone to locate the missing vehicles and personnel. The patrol also went missing." With a wave of his hand, the grid zooms in on an area inside the tiberium zone. "We have reason to believe the convoy and the patrol mechs were captured or destroyed by KPSA forces, based in this area."

The woman, Shirin, takes the commander's silence as a cue to speak. "We had believed the KPSA to be a minor threat at best. They've been known for using outdated hardware and inexperienced, disorganized soldiers. Their favorite tactic has always been strapping bombs to children. Which is why this new development is very troubling."

"The KPSA base is located deep inside a tiberium field. This makes aerial reconnaissance difficult, and conventional infantry operations impossible. I requested you, Major, because of your exemplary record in AS unit engagements." The commander brings a wireframe of a M6 Bushnell Arm Slave up on the screen. "The mission is as follows: You are to lead a squad of four AS units into the territory indicated here, locate the KPSA base and eliminate all hostiles. GDI personnel may have been taken prisoner and used as hostages. Getting them out safe takes priority over all other objectives." Shirin speaks up. "An AS pilot from The Kingdom of Azadistan Armed Forces will be with you on the mission. In addition to the objectives your commander gave you, he will be tasked with recovering intelligence on the KPSA. We think they could be getting funding and training from an outside source." She looks up at you briefly, then back at the screen. "I don't think any of the villagers are alive, but if they are... I ask you to help them." Exchanging glances with the commander, she sits back down on a chair in front of the desk, facing away from you, looking at her hands.

"Sir, if I may speak freely," you ask, "I can't be the only AS pilot with a good record and experience. Don't you have one on the base?"

"We did, yes." The commander meets your eyes. "I sent her to recover the convoy. Now I'm sending you to recover the convoy, and her. Any more questions, Major?"

>Ask about intel. Why is the KPSA's involvement a foregone conclusion?

"I do, Sir." You look back at the commander. "For starters, why are you so sure the KPSA's behind this?"
"I can answer that question, Major Walter," Shirin says. "Our sources have confirmed that a new leader has joined the KPSA. An expert terrorist, who fought GDI before, in Africa. Clearly, this is the first attack that he's behind." Commander Stryer nods in agreement.

"Another question, Sir, Ma'am. Arm Slaves aren't very good at hostage rescue ops. They're big, loud, and they're armed to tear buildings apart, not clear floors. I'd understand if we were bringing a helo or APC with commandos along, but using AS alone..." Stryer motions for you to wait. "I'll explain.Your AS will be equipped with the prototype ECS cloaking system. It will hide the Arm Slave from RADAR as well as IR and visual detection. You will still be audible, however, so take that into consideration. Chief Engineer Al-Azad at the motorpool can tell you more. Now, Major, I'm afraid I have other business to attend to. This briefing is concluded."

Shirin Bakhtiar stands up, shakes the colonel's hand and walks out. Passing you, she looks up once more, shakes your hand briefly and leaves. You move to follow her, but the commander stops you. "Major, I couldn't mention this in front of the advisor, but there's another reason we called you out here. The convoy's mission wasn't civilian evac. It was actually out in the zone to test a new AS unit that's being developed by the GDI research division. The KPSA stole it. We need you to get it back, or destroy it if you can't."

Another complication. You shake your head. "Sir, what about the Azadistani in my squad? I can't keep him in the dark about this." The commander shrugs. "You're not expected to. We just need to keep this information from the public for as long as possible." He sits back down at his desk, suddenly looking tired and worn out. "You're dismissed, Major. We'll talk later."

(1/2)
>>
You turn at the door. "Sir, what about my squad? Can you tell me anything about who I'm getting on this operation?" The commander doesn't lift his eyes. "They're waiting for you in building A5. Go see them."

>You can now determine who will be in your squad.

Leaving the command center, you make your way to the wooden barracks where your squad is supposed to be waiting. It's already dark, floodlights illuminating your path. As you open the door, you hear voices, but when you enter you're met with silence and a "ten-hut!". Four people stand at attention next to their bunk beds.

"At ease," you say, looking over the pilots. The one nearest to you, a man with a gentle expression on his face, introduces himself. "Russel Bagman, Sir. Good to have you with us." The others approach you. A blonde, blue-eyed woman looks you over with a stern expression. "Major Walter. My name is Natalya Poklonskaya. For all our sake, I hope you will live up to your reputation." Another woman, dark-skinned and silver-haired, meets your eye and shakes your hand without hesitation. "Maria Winnicot. Yes, the very same Maria Winnicot that's known as the Red Cloak. You're not the only one with a reputation around here, Major." Behind her, another silver-haired beau fidgets, speaking quietly. You walk over to a table full of poker chips and cards, that Russel quickly clears away. Lamia brings you a map, and you lean down over it. The pilots gather around the table as you start the briefing.

"Alright, people. I've been called down here to take you into an enemy camp inside a tiberium field and perform recon and hostage rescue with AS units, with untested technology. In addition, the opfor have in their possession a prototype mech unit whose capabilities I'm completely unfamiliar with. We are to recover or destroy this unit." Lamia looks up at the mention of the prototype. "The G1 unit. I was told it had arrived at the base... So it's in the hands of the KPSA?" "Hah! So the GDI got their precious prototype stolen by a bunch of goat herders?" Maria smirks. "The Azadistan Army did right to hire me. I told them there was no point in trusting the GDI to be competent."

You notice Russel and Natalya reacting to the tanned mercenary's provocation, but intervene in the brewing argument. "Settle down. Now, according to command, the KPSA have a new leader, so they may not be the pushovers you're used to fighting. Take this into account." You look around the table. "I'll need to know if you have any specialized training or preferred combat roles."

Russel shrugs. "I'm good with most weapons, Sir, and I'm flexible where doctrine's concerned. You just tell me what to shoot at."

Natalya points to you. "I am a professional sniper, Major Walter. Long range support is where I excel."

Maria smiles. "My AS is customized for front-line action. Place me at the front, I need some more kill marks."

Lamia looks away. "I was intended to pilot the G1 unit. But without it... I suppose I can serve as suppor gunner. Heavy weapons can be mounted on my AS."

You discuss approaches with the team, Russel and Maria offering suggestions concerning the area's geographic features. You end by setting sortie time to 06:00 and telling the squad to get some rest.

Passing the card-playing pilots (Maria expressing loud displeasure at losing), you walk over to Lamia's bunk, where she is seated. Briefly startled by your appearance, she quickly regains her composture and looks down again.

"Yes, Major?" She asks quietly. You sit down on the opposite bunk. "I wanted to ask you about the G1 prototype. You said you were trained to pilot it." "Yes." Lamia nods. "The G1 prototype personal trooper, serial number PTX-001. It was built by a German corporation, so it's designated 'Gespenst', or 'Ghost'." "'Personal Trooper?'" You ask. "Yes. It's not an Arm Slave or mobile suit, but based on a different technology." Lamia looks away. "Or perhaps it's just a way to evade patent legislation. I'm not an engineer." "All right," you say, "so what about this Gespenst? What's it like?" "It's a very formidable humanoid weapon, Major." Lamia states matter-of-factly. "At least for this time." "No," you lean forward, "I mean, what's it like piloting it? How does it feel?" At this, Lamia pauses, looking at her hands. Not wanting to stare at her forehead, you lower your gaze as well.

You rise from the bunk, and Lamia turns away. "Good night, Major." You pause. "By the way... 'Lamia Loveless' is a pretty unusual name. Did you have hippie parents or something?" "Something like that, Major." Lamia replies, quietly. "It's... a long story."

While beating the braggart mercenary at a game she clearly cares about is tempting, and enjoying the fresh desert night air outside an option, you're in no state to argue with the exhaustion in your mind and body, screaming for you to go to sleep. You close the door to the women's quarters behind you and pick a clean bunk, unpack your things and retire for the night.

>Unfortunately, I have to cut the quest a bit short tonight. The prologue to SRW /tg/ will conclude tomorrow, beginning at 19:00 UTC. Hope to see you all there. Thank you for joining me so far!

>I will be around for a short time to answer questions.
>>
>>32048799
There is only one question that matters, will you give us a shot at killing Ali?
>>
>>32048799
I saw SRW and decided to check out the op post, then I saw C&C get mentioned and I had to join. I really like the premise.
>>

>killing Ali

Depending on which route you choose, it can be one of the skill point objectives, yes.

>>32048875
Thanks for the kind words.
>>
>>32049011
Oh will you be using a twitter?
>>
>>32046015
Let's keep it this way
>>
>>32046015
Combine C&C and FMP into one setting, combine EVA and PRim (fuck yeah JAEVA). But what about 00? Are Gundams "air/space force" equivalents when AS's are "ground force" equivalents?
>>
OP, how are you going to integrate 00 into a joint C&C-FMP setting? What about the power blocs, politics and energy issues?
>>
Will we be seeing Helios/Gill soon?
>>
>>32051038

Not OP, but I'd imagine that the 00 power blocs are in a way different factions under a single national name.

You know, kind of like Republicans and Democrats, only on a global scale.

(I have no idea how politics work so I'm giving an approximation here.)
>>
What? No Armored Core? Ravens and their ilk simply don't fit in? But what about NEXTs and the ACs themselves? Perhaps NEXTs run on Tiberium instead of KP?
>>
Fell asleep so I guess you guys are long gone, but I'll answer the questions and keep the thread bumped until the next installment.

>>32049160

At this time I don't want to register for twitter. I feel regular run times and announcements in /qtg/ should suffice. But I may be wrong.

>>32050865
>>32051038
>>32051783

Concerning Gundam 00: The blocs are there, but with the global crisis following the Second Impact and the subsequent Tiberium War, they've been acting mostly through the GDI and Nod. But with the war over, the situation is about to change. The blocs are starting to drift away from each other, prioritizing their own citizens' goals rather than the UN global community. In order to escape the Earth, they are constructing orbital elevators.

Gundam technology is not available at the moment, but mobile suits are currently being developed to rival and surpass Arm Slaves. HRL Tierens are already operating in warzones worldwide.

>>32053695
Sadly, I've not played enough Armored Core to do the setting justice. But I'm open to suggestions on how to make it work.
>>
>>32056013
Armored core stuff would either be too weak, too strong, or too mass produced to fit.
>>
>>32056013
OP, please don't add or remove any series. The current selection is very consistent and resonant.

BTW, will we see Gilliam Yeager soon?
>>
>>32056013
How much OG stuff are you throwing in? Is Lamia really going to be a time travelling cyborg?
>>
>>32056192
>>32056216

Concerning the OG characters and such, the OG universe is its own complicated and elaborate setting, and it wouldn't be a SRW game if I didn't include at least a bit of that. But I'm not going to cram all of it in, at least for now.
>>
>>32056190
Not really, ACs from Armored Core 1-3 are quite capable of taking on Arm Slaves and lower level Real Robots (I.E Knightmare frames and Military-grade Patlabors) while AC5 Cores are essentially Wanzers with greater mobility.

NEXTs on the other hand... Ever heard of the term Glass Cannon? Gundams are way harder to destroy or damage than NEXTs because of E-Carbon/Gundamium (Gundarium?) But NEXTs sport almost as much firepower.

NEXTs on the other hand are made out of Titanium and other composite materials you would find on Fighter Jets, stuff that is nowhere near as tough as what Gundams are made of.

Oh and Primal Armor only stops Bullets, explosives and missiles; Gundam-verse Beam weaponry will fuck a NEXT up good.
>>
>>32056708
Oh, forgot to mention that ACV cores also sport nastier weapons, Ultimate Weapons anyone?
>>
>>32056013

You know who would be a good cameo for the Armored Core verse in SRW TG?

Armored Core Quest.

Seriously, look it up in suptg. That was fun times.
>>
>>32056013
You really owe it to yourself to play through armored core

>QUEST RESUMED

You wake up at dawn, slightly less tired, not remembering any dreams. Russel is already up, splashing water on his face. When you're done with the familiar morning routines of bed-making and shower, he's already outside the barracks, staring at the horizon. You catch up with him, and as you pass, he calls out. "Major! I just... Our people, they're alive, right? And we're going to bring them back."

You stop in your tracks. "What's this about, Lieutenant?"

"Sir, Lieutenant Katina Tarask was the pilot chosen for testing the prototype. We've always sortied together, ever since the academy. I just feel..." He looks at you, face contorted in a hard-faced grimace, "that if I'd gone with her, I could have done something."

"You still can, Lt. Bagman," you offer. "You can go out and bring her home. Now let's suit up and get ready."

"Yes, Sir!" The reply comes quickly. While Russel still seems uneasy, at least you've ensured his mind will be on the task at hand.

You reach the mech hangar, a large building with wide doors and a corrugated iron exterior. Inside you find a bustle of technicians and mechanics working on AS units. A jovial, bearded man in greasy overalls approaches you. "Major Walter! Welcome to Azadistan. I am Tariq al-Azad, chief engineer in this dump. We have the Arm Slaves for you and your squad fueled up, armed and ready to go."

(1/2)
>>
"Mr al-Azad," you say while he energetically shakes your hand and makes a sweeping gesture towards the hangar interior, "they told me you were the person to ask about the stealth systems on these mechs." "Ah yes, the ECS! It's a great piece of engineering! I'm told they ripped it out of the Nod stealth tanks. And it still works!" He ushers you inside. "Walk with me." You follow him as he strolls along the AS frames inert in their support clamps, gesticulating as he talks.

"The ECS system can spoof visual, infrared and RADAR scanning." Al-Azad continues. "If the AS doesn't move, you can remain undetectable to the naked eye at a distance of five meters. If you do move, though, the cloaking is harder to maintain, and the ripples that result from the optic projection systems updating the image are noticeable at up to 15 meters. Besides, your diesel engine will still be audible, unless you're in a place with a lot of noise. But it should help you sneak up on the enemy unawares."

You nod, and offer a comment. "So I take it a system like that would drain a lot of power?" "Right on the money, Major!" Al-Azad smiles in response. "While the ECS is running, the drain on the engine makes it impossible to maintain anything more advanced than movement controls. Targeting will be disabled and comms will be short-range only." You notice the tour of the small facility has ended, concluding in front of the same entrance you came in through. Your squad is there already. Al-Azad waves heartily, greeting the pilots with laughs and rapid-fire compliments to the ladies. "Your Slaves await you, my beauties! Natalya, I have equipped your unit with a spotter drone, like you asked, but you won't be able to cloak and operate it at the same time. And Maria, I have worked my team all night to build you that axe you requested." He turns to you. "I envy you, Major, to be surrounded by such loveliness all day!"

"How's everyone feeling?" You ask. "Fine, Major." Natalya replies confidently. "I feel great!" Maria offers. "Those KSPA thugs won't know what hit them!" "I'm good, Sir," Russel states calmly. "Point me at them." Lamia nods silently. "I'm ready to move out, Major Walter."

"Alright people, check your gear and we move out in 10!" You say. The squad disperses, each one going to their mechs. You walk up to Russel. "Sir, about that thing I mentioned before. I want you to know that it won't affect the mission." "Good to hear," you reply, moving on to Maria's flamboyantly purple AS, making you thankful for the fact that you'll be equipped with camouflage. "Come to inspect the mercenary, Major?" Maria appears behind you, smiling. How'd she sneak up on you like that? "Don't worry. I don't mess around on the job."

You nod and move on, finding Lamia already on her way up into the cockpit of her unit. "Sir, I have a good feeling about the mission! We'll be fine!" She waves at you before disappearing into the bowels of the AS. Lastly, you visit Natalya, inspecting the long rail rifle on her mech with a critical eye. "This one has been used a few times. Already visible warping. No matter, Major. It will do." You pass her and go up to your own AS, black-painted and nondescript. Climbing the ladder to the cockpit, you see the fuel lines being disconnected as you start the boot sequence and the hatch closes behind you. The whirr of computers and the hum of the engine fills your ears. Clamps release from your back. A step forward, then another. As ususal, you feel yourself become one with the machine you're piloting.

You're waved out of the hangar and the rest of the unit forms up on you, Maria taking point, Russel and Lamia flanking your sides and Natalya at the rear.

(1/2)
>>
You march out into the desert, which quickly fills with Tiberium crystals, shining brightly in the morning sun. The otherworldly landscape shimmers in the heat. But you're not concerned with the beauty of the scenery. Rather, your mind is on the way this flat and empty environment offers no concealment or cover.

"Engage ECS." You give the order and the Arm Slaves shudder, then disappear from your view as their exterior armors are "painted over" by the cloaking device. You move on, leaving only faded prints in the sand behind.

Before long, you find the enemy encampment. It's an abandoned factory on the outskirts of a ghost town left behind to be consumed by Tiberium. Rusty skeletal remains of sheds and structures stretch out before you. The factory is the largest building in the area, and even though your advanced sensors aren't powered right now, you're sure you can see sentries on the roof and in three ramshackle towers that line the perimeter.

You hear the voice of some preacher or ideologue resonating from megaphones posted around the encampment. Something about being the holy soldiers of God, victory being assured for the righteous and destroying all who deviate from tradition. You'd expect this kind of speech to be delivered as a screaming rant, but instead, the voice is calm and measured.

>You have control.
>>
>>32065879
Have the unit split up in groups of two and each take a side and a tower then converge on the factory after the sniper picks off the roof targets. The sniper should be of course covering from the flank while the tanker and us should be up front. So staggered formation with us center and closest, and far range in the back of course. This way we can let the sniper get off the first shots and the closer units hit them when they weren't expecting it.
>>
>>32066033
Wait there are only five of us. Two groups of two and the sniper in the rear then.
>>
>Going to wait for more suggestions. I didn't realize Sunday was so slow at this time.
>>
>>32065879
Well, we need to get most of us as close to the compound as possible before engaging. Natalya can find a good sniping point to target the sentries, while the rest of us approach the factory.

I'm assuming the Prototype is in there, though I don't know if the prisoners would be.
>>
>>32066229
Things to go get the entire Browning set. Excellen, Lemon, Haken, Aschen Brodel aka W-07, and hell Einst Alfimi while we are at it. The rest of the W series can go burn in a fire though.
>>
>>32065879
Would our advanced sensors be able to detect lifesign? If so, we need to find a depression or hill or something that one of the mechs can hide behind, disengage ECS and scan the compound. The purpose here would be to find the hostages.

Once they're located, we need to pick an attack vector that brings us to them in minimal time. Let lamia and Natalya find a good position to rain fire down from, then approach with the rest of the squad. Stay more than 15m away from the sentries, then have the long range units begin their barrage against visible targets on a route to the hostages. Charge in behind the fire. Once hostages are secure, sweep the rest of the base.
>>
>>32066717
He said the area was perfectly flat so that would be a little difficult.
>>
>>32066760
Its on the outskirts of an abandoned down. There have to be structures we can hide a single m6 behind, even if the desert is more like a salt plain than an actual desert.
>>
>>32066805
Ok assuming that they didn't tear down anything that would give proper cover to a force that was to invade them and didn't post guards out where obvious hiding sports would be, I still don't know if its a great idea to drop the cloak as there is the possibility of being found out. I stand by the hit hard hit fast then when its over find the hostages. Unless of course we are horribly outnumbered. Then get in and out undetected is a much better plan.
>>
>writing
>>
While the area is fairly flat, you do notice a few hills around the town. "Natalya, think you can find a good firing spot?" "Affirmative, Major," Natalya's voice comes in over the speakers, "I will set up on high ground. Permission to deploy scouting drone?"

>Approach and sweep: SUCCESS

Natalya's small recon UAV rises in the air. Carefully maneuvering it to stay unseen, she flies over the enemy camp.

"15 guards spotted, patrolling the area in groups of 5. They're armed with small arms and shouldn't present a threat. There are three guard towers with snipers in them, at least one on the roof as well, with a recoilless rifle. There is a garage at the north side of the base, it looks to be in better condition than surrounding structures."

"They could keep the hostages in there." Russel remarks. "Or that could be where they store their own MS or AS, or the prototype," Maria interjects.

"Continuing sweep." Natalia's voice is quiet, as if she's the one doing the sneaking inside the base. "Inside the factory, I'm reading IR signatures on the main floor, but I'd need to fly lower to get an accurate reading. Proceeding east..." A pause. "There's a small shed near the perimeter wall. Two sentries posted outside a door. I'd need to go lower to scan the interior."

>Other
>>
>>32068598
>Sweep again, fly lower
Whelp, let's go big.
>>
>>32068598
So we have the floor of the factory, a garage and a suspicious shed.

My guess is that they have Katrina in the shed, the hostages in the factory and the stolen G1 in the garage.

If that were the case I'd probably go for blowing the garage, rushing to the factory with 2 units from a different direction and have someone else check the shack.

But, it's just guesswork. So, get everyone deployed for that plan but go for another drone sweep at lower altitude to confirm the guesses. If the drone gets spotted, immediately execute the plan.
>>
>>32068770
Well, we don't want to blow the garage straight away. I'd say rush the factory and shack and if those contain the hostages we can either blitz to the garage or blow it sky high.

Sadly, we don't really know what their forces are like other than the guards.
>>
>>32068845
That makes sense. The hostages could be in the garage, after all.
>>
You speak into the helmet's microphone. "Natalya, stand by to do another sweep, low enough to get good readings on the factory floor and the shed. Everyone else, we'll split up in groups of two and attack from different directions once the sweep's concluded."

>Close recon sweep: SUCCESS, WITH BENEFITS

Natalia takes her drone lower, hovering close to the roof of the factory. "I'm getting large heat signatures, looks like engines. 5 AS and one smaller vehicle, probably a technical. This looks like their motor pool."

"That means the hostages should be in the other buildings." You say. "Probably, commander. Continuing sweep." Natalia guides the drone towards the garage. The concrete, windowless structure is harder to scan. "Can't get a reading from here..." Natalia flies the drone back towards the shed. "I thought one of the sentries spotted me there, but it looks clear now. Going in lower. Two heat signatures inside. Wait... I think I can get audio." She nudges the UAV towards the shed. "Patching you in."

Immediately after the static that accompanies the channel-switching to the drone's microphone feed, you are met with a female voice, uttering a string of loud expletives that would make a sailor blush. And then...

(1/2)
>>
"YOU GODDAMN SCUMBAG SHIT-SUCKERS! I'LL KILL YOU ALL! I'LL RIP YOUR HEADS OFF AND SHIT DOWN YOUR NECK! YOU WILL REGRET KEEPING ME ALIVE, YOU BASTARD..."

A dull thud. The expletives stop, mid-sentence. Then, another voice comes in on the mic. The same calm, measured voice that is looping outside, instructing his men to die for the cause. "Are you quite done, Miss Tarask?"

Katina spits at the man's feet. "Not done until I stand on your dead body. What the hell did you have your goons drag me here for?" "Simple, Miss Tarask. You are to help me start up and operate this machine of yours."

Silence. Then, Katina starts laughing. She laughs and laughs, louder and louder until another punch from the interrogator interrupts her. She coughs. "I knew you were a psycho, man, but I never figured you for a moron. I'm not going to do a thing for you."

Another pause. "I knew you'd say that." The man looks down on the pilot on the ground in front of him. "I just wanted you to have a chance to consider your options." He switches on a walkie-talkie on his belt. "In 60 seconds, kill one of the hostages. Then, every 5 minutes, kill another one." He turns to Katina. "If you don't want them to die, tell me how to operate the machine."

>You have control.

>Skill Point requirement for this mission: Save all remaining hostages.

Have Lamia blow the fuck out of the factory. Russel breaks off and kills the guards in front of the shack, you and Maria go to the garage, kill any terrorists and secure the hostages.

There was no need to explain the urgency of the situation to the rest of the squad. "Lamia! Breach the main gate and take out the mechs inside the factory, don't give them a chance to launch. Russel, follow her in and secure the garage, get it open and guard the hostages. Maria, engage the guards and clear me a path to the shed. Natalya!" "Yes Major?" "Can you snipe the guy in the shed with Katina?" Russel and Lamia run towards the front gate, depressions in the ground and audible thumps revealing their approach. One of the guards spots the rippling lag on Lamia's camo, and manages to shout a warning. However, at that very moment Lamia decloaks and opens fire on the rusty gate, blasting it open with an AS-sized shotgun. Three of the guards are caught in the blast, while another manages to roll away.

Russel runs inside, decloaking only halfway through the inner yard. The guards outside the garage are caught in the middle of handing out RPGs and Javelin launchers, all but one are blown away by Russel's HMG barrage, the survivor taking shelter inside.

Meanwhile, Lamia gets to work on the factory, her AS unholstering a missile launcher and firing into the concentration of Amf mobile suits inside. A fireball engulfs the mechs, but two of them emerge from the smoke and wreckage and open fire on Lamia's M6. "I'm hit! Minor damage, Sir, no problem."

Maria runs into the fray, dropping the cloak on approach and revving up the engine to maximize speed output. With an AS-sized handgun, she expertly drops the three guards posted on the roof as they level their RPGs on Russel's AS. She runs towards the shed in great, leaping strides.

>please ignore the previous dice rolls. I simply forgot to turn off the dice.

"Maria, watch out! I'm reading a large heat signature on your eight o'clock!" Natalya's warning comes too late as a Tieren in desert camouflage crashes through the factory wall and charges at Maria's AS with carbon blade drawn. You watch, dumbfounded, as the purple mech retrieves a large mech-sized axe and parries the enemy's blow. The two melee fighters have locked blades. "I'll hold him off, Sir! Go!" Maria cries out over the comm. You move in, blasting the small running figures to the sides of your AS. "Natalya, FIRE!" you yell as you shift gears to running speed.

The railgun shot soars past you, nearly clipping your own mech. It smashes into the side of the shed, causing the roof to slide to the left, raising a cloud of dust and debris. A man in a pilot suit, with a red mane of hair and an unkempt goatee, emerges from the wreckage, coughing and disoriented. You take him to ringleader. You level your left hand gatling on the man...

And promptly witness him crashing to the ground as he takes a flying kick from behind from a blonde woman in a red mech pilot uniform with a furious expression. She leans down and gives the man a punch in the face, then looks up at you. "Took you long enough. Do something useful and keep these bastards off me while I find the Gespenst! Then we can show them what a REAL pilot can do!" Having said that, she disappears into the hole in the factory wall.

Shoot the interrogator. With the highest caliber round you have. Repeatedly.

Other than that we have what, 3 enemy mechs operational? 1 guy in the hostage room and probably a handful of survivors elsewhere.

I'd say we should turn around and flank the guy in melee with Maria while Natalya snipes at the two attacking Lamia. Once the melee guy is down, maria and us will hit the remaining AS. Keep Russel at the garage. If he thinks he can break in and take down that last hostile, do it.

There's no time to lose. While your attack has eliminated much of the base's guard force, there are still the two Amfs and the Tieren to consider. In addition, the factory may still have enemies inside, and there is one guard inside the garage. These considerations don't slow you down, however, as you level your weapons on the fallen ringleader's position...

"Major! RPGs on your six!" Natalya shouts her warnings as the shaped charge warheads streak towards you from the guard towers flanking the gate. You turn to face the new threat, and sidestep just in time for the grenades to impact in the dirt beside you. To your left, Maria is still occupied with the sword-wielding Tieren. Russel is prying open the garage door, and Lamia is returning fire on the Amfs that are pushing her away from the factory. You need to eliminate the boss of this terrorist den. You turn the mech again.

In your sights, he stands, dusting off his suit with his hands. For a man about to be pulverized by the awesome power of a mech-mounted minigun, he seems fairly calm. More annoyed than panicking. He looks into the camera of your AS, and smiles. Then he points to the walkie-talkie in his hand.

"Natalya, fire on my target." "I'm still reloading, Sir! 120 seconds!" "Russel, are the hostages secured?" "I've breached the garage doors, but one of the guards has a gun to a hostage's head!" "Take him out." A sigh. "Affirmative."

Rescuing hostages: CRITICAL SUCCESS
Eliminating Ali Al-Sajis: CRITICAL FAILURE

Russel's report rings out in your ear. "Hostages secured, Sir! Repeat, hostages secured!" In any other time, you'd be relieved, laughing and whooping like the Lieutenant is doing, celebrating his successful shot. "I never thought you could do precision sniping with an AS rifle!" In any other situation, you'd reply.

But you don't. Because you can hardly believe your eyes.

You shot the man point blank. But he's still standing. Surrounded by large slabs of metal.

As you stare, the metal rises, supported by a column, and you see that the slabs are actually a hand. The hand of the largest mech unit you've ever seen. It rises from below the shed, pushing away dirt, towering over the factory like some monstrous creature from old B-movies you watched while stoned in high school.

Seriously, you have no idea how that thing can even stand upright, much less move.

"I was hoping I wouldn't have to use my 'gift', dear guests, but you've forced my hand! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" The red-haired man looks up into the sky, filled with smoke and dust, and laughs.

You fire a volley at the red giant, causing the rippling lightshow to appear again. You definitely got its attention, and it lunges forward (how is it standing up? How can it LEAN FORWARD without toppling over?), attempting to grab you with one of the enormous hands. You evade the attempt as the red arm obliterates the remaining perimeter wall to your right.

The Anfs advance on Lamia's unit, pinning it down behind the shell of an overturned tanker truck. A shot from Natalya punches a hole clean through the unit's midsection, puncturing the fuel tanks and causing the unit to explode. Maria swipes at the Tieren, but the enemy pilot deftly sweeps the axe aside and then, in a brief and controlled movement, slices the axe-wielding arm clean off.

It's a mech, painted bright red. And if your eyes can still be trusted, which you're not sure of any more, that mech just shoulder checked a Tieren.

You dodge and weave away from the huge arms. From what you can tell, the red monster either doesn't have other weapons besides fist and that enormous sword-looking thing in the back, or won't use them for some reason. You approach the factory when you suddenly get an idea.

"Natalya!" "Sir!" The reply rings out instantly. "Fire on the factory! I want you to try and collapse it on the enemy!" "Affirmative." The blonde sniper responds with a grin and a pull of the trigger. Was she planning to do this even before you gave the order?

In any case, you don't have time to dawdle. The railgun pierces several support beams of the old building. With a loud groan, metal and concrete give way and the structure topples. The giant pauses in its attacks, shielding its head with its arms and bracing itself for an avalanche of debris. The glowing field activates, repelling the falling remains of the factory, but the giant is half-buried.

Meanwhile, Katina finds time between trading blows with the enemy to yell at her squadmate over the comm. "RUSSEL! There's an APC in the garage next to the one the hostages are in! Secure it and load the hostages inside!" "Roger!" The pilot was quick to answer that. Wait a minute, you think. Why is she ordering him around? YOU're the superior officer on this mission.

The last remaining Anf is dispatched by Lamia's shotgun, while Katina punches the Tieren's blade away. "Plasma stake, set! Let's see if the gearheads took my advice when they built this thing. Gespenst punch: JEEET MAGNUUUUUUM!"

You watch, dumbstruck again, as the red mech literally drives its fist through the head of the Tieren, carving a path like a hot knife through butter. As the enemy mech collapses in a heap of scrap, Katina even finds time to make a victory pose.

"Now to deal with the big one!" She points at the red mech. "Don't get too cocky, Lieutenant! You yell out to her. "We don't know all the tricks it has up its sleeve!"

As if on cue, hatches inside the shoulder pads of the giant enemy unit open up to reveal scores of missiles. The mech launches a barrage, and as your unit dodges the projectiles, the smoke clears to show the mech retreating into the maw of a giant subterranean transport. You've seen this kind before, in the hands of Nod, but this one is the largest one you've ever seen.

"Looks like we drove them off, Major." Natalya states, matter-of-factly.

>425 Z
How much do upgrades cost? For that matter, what kinds of things can we buy with these?
>>
>>32074277

>The upgrade system will be introduced in detail at the start of the next thread. You will be able to purchase new weapons or tune up mech performance. After a while, new mechs will also be available for purchase. For comparison, a Gespenst will cost 1000 Z to acquire.

MEANWHILE, ELSEWHERE:

[??? 1] "They have tipped our hand too soon. The plan may need to be revised."

[??? 2] The plan remains in place. The prophecies support this interpretation as well.

[??? 1] Still, trusting that one with our future, all that we have worked for... It does not sit well with me.

[??? 2] Your assessment of Dr Zoldark is incorrect. He will perform adequately. The Great Work of Instrumentality will be completed in our lifetime.

[??? 1] In the name of Kane.

[??? 2] We have struck the false messiah from our records, and yet you still insist in swearing by him?

[??? 1] My allegiance has not changed. Do not ask me to alter it.

*Kill all aces not on our side

Now that Prince Ali has gotten away, whats the bet he teams up with Gauron?
>>
>>32074537
Sure, why not have two enemies with plot armor thicker than a battleship.
>>
>>32074555
Maybe they cancel eachother out?
>>
>>32074624
No, they multiply each other.

We will never kill Ali or Gauron. Just don't expect it.
