Old thread.

You stare at Harvey. “Don’t tell me your parents went out looking for me.”

His bemusement deepens. “My parents went out looking for you.”

You seize him by his shoulders. You feel the impulse to shake sense into him, and you give into it, shaking him violently. To your dissatisfaction, he doesn’t move very much. “Why are you people being so damn nice?!” you yell in his face. (+5 Stress 19/100)

He shrugs. “I don’t know,” he says. “I’m not them. Why does somebody trying to help you out set you off so bad?”

“Because it does!” you yell.

“You’re just like Rowan,” he says, frowning. “Sometimes people are just nice.”

--

“Nobody’s nice!” you yell. “Everyone wants something back. Don’t feed me that bullshit – your parents want something out of me!” (+10 Stress 29/100)

“Dude. You need to chill,” Harvey says, taking a step back, forcibly removing himself from your grip.

“Don’t fucking tell me to fucking chill,” you say, burning up under the collar. (+10 Stress 39/100) “You know, don’t you – you’ve known all along! Tell me what you and your freak family want – there’s a fucking reason you're dad didn't just kill me – there was nothing nice about him when he was chasing be down with that fucking angel crossbow.”

“Yeah, he can be pretty scary when he wants to,” Harvey allows. “If you’ve seen him burp the alphabet though, it’s hard to take him seriously after that.”

“Shut up!” you order, shoving him in the chest. How can he be so huge – he’s not even in high school. Or is he? “You think I'm just a fucking pet project? You think this is hilarious, don’t you? Fucking demon in a fucking zoo – just some mutt you can keep like a dog!” They must think you’re an animal – just a stray they can take in and make into the family pet. The thought makes you boil with anger. (+10 Stress 49/100)

Harvey furrows his brow at you, as if you’ve committed a faux pox. “You swear a lot.” His failure to match your craze is making you even crazier. (+10 Stress 59/100)
>>
>>32010181

“This isn’t real,” you say, practically screaming. You advance on him, but he merely keeps his distance by back pedaling. “You’re always nice now, it’s all smiles, let’s take you out to eat, let’s have fun, Sierra, we’re going to be tight, we’re different – this time it’s all going to work out, this time it’s all fine, you’ll see! All your problems, zap, they’re gone – everybody’s got the answer, everybody’s the good guy – “

Harvey runs into a wall as he continues moving back, giving him nowhere else to go, though his expression keeps even as he stares you down.

You throw your claws into the wall at his side – you hadn’t realized they’d come out, but you want this kid to do something, to scream or cry or be mad or anything. “And that’s when you lock me out – we’re done, somebody else can handle this – someone else can take you away, you’re not our problem so don’t call. Don’t even fucking write us a letter, it’s always better this way,” you shout, dragging your claw down the wall as you rant. It leaves a huge gash that goes into the drywall. (+10 Stress 69/100)

“Are you still talking about us?” Harvey asks, mildly curious. “Because it sounds like you’re talking about someone else.”

“All the nice people on the planet are dead!” you yell at him, trying to explain. Your vision becomes blurry. “They all died! They’re gone and I’m here, but fuck you, I’m fine!”

Harvey raises an incredulous eyebrow. “If you’re fine, then why are you crying?” he asks, the picture of logic.

You say the next sentence as loud as humanly possible. “I’M NOT FUCKING CRYING!” you say, drilling a fist into the wall on every syllable. The wall winds up having a sizable hole by the end of it. (+15 Stress 84/100) You feel something slide down your cheek and drop off. Fuck. You really are crying. No way you’re fucking crying right now. You bring your claws up to try to rub the tears from your eyes, but claws aren’t good for that kind of thing.

There’s really nowhere else to go, after that. You’ve run out of steam. You deflate a couple sizes, and drop both arms to your sides. No way you’re fucking crying right now. “Why are you being so fucking nice?” you ask, your voice weak.

“Because,” says Harvey, looking at you like you should know better, “it looked like you could use it.” He steps forward and pulls you into a hug. A real hug, not some weak ass side hug or anything, just a full on power hug. He says nothing as try to stop crying.

strength is failing you, and seriously how huge is this kid? And you can’t even see anything, this crying needs to stop now. You focus on that first – you hope everything will fall into place afterward. It’s not a short process, and this damn kid’s not letting go, but it’s not so annoying as it is a reminder that you should really quit crying so you can think through the situation. (-8 Stress 76/100)

Eventually, after some span of time, your sobbing shrinks to sporadic outbursts of pathetic blubbering, and then to some level that you feel that you’re once more the master of your physical faculties. Before you can mount bodily resistance to Harvey’s unrelenting hug, however, he simply lets you go, and sidesteps so as to be well out of your personal space. “So,” he says, glancing at the gaping hole in the wall, “do you want that to be my fault or yours? Because I’ve got enough brownie points to get away with it.”

You feel kind of normal again, if worked up. “Nah, I’ve got it,” you say, your voice still a little bit thick. “What are your parents going to do? Grab the crossbows and come after me?”

Harvey frowns at you. “That crossbow thing really stood out to you, didn’t it.”

“Maybe it did,” you say, acknowledging the claim. “I’ll drop it.” You get your claws to resume regular form, and wipe your face on the sleeve of your jacket. “I’m… just going to go sit in the guest bedroom for a while,” you say.

He nods and lets you go.

You retreat to the guest bedroom. You sit on the bed and focus on doing nothing for a while. Some time passes. Then a long time passes. You can hear some coming and going in the rest of the house, but it’s too faint to make out specifics, even for you. Nobody disturbs your closed door.

>Stay where you are for a while longer.

You try to listen in to anything that's being said about you and your outburst, but you really can't hear anything special. You figure the only way to find out where you stand is by going downstairs and seeing for yourself.

You trudge over to the door and push it open, and then walk down the stairs, quietly as possible. You don't see anyone, but the hole you made in the entryway is pretty gnarly now that you're looking at it. It's not through anything for real, but it's definitely straight through the drywall.

You wander about, checking everywhere, until you come to the family room. The lights are out and their big flat screen is on, and a familiar theme song is playing.

It's Robocop. Not the new one either, but the original good one. Your dad used to watch all these old science fiction movies with you when you were a kid.

Isaac pauses the movie when he sees you in the doorway. Rowan takes a second to look in your direction, but hastily averts her eyes - even before giving you the evil eye or anything.

"Hey Sierra. We were just starting a movie," he says. "Care to join us?"

"Sunday night's movie night," Harvey explains, stuffing a handful of popcorn into his mouth from a huge glass bowl.

These are Lutherans at worst, and Lutherans are super chill.
>>
>>32011068

You're not about to pass up on Robocop. You say nothing, and instead find a space on the floor nearby to sit. The couch only seats two, really, and Mr. and Mrs. Hallow seem to be using it mostly for the purposes of snuggling. Harvey's sitting with his back against the foot of the couch and has a blanket thrown over his legs, and Rowan has her own beanbag chair.

"There's blankets behind you," Harvey tells you.

You look behind you to find that yes, there is a stack of blankets behind you. You take the top one and use it to make yourself more comfortable as Isaac pushes play on the movie.

There's a lot of parts you didn't quite remember when you were a kid. Through all the movie, you see gangsters and street scum get gunned down by the dozen, and the moral of the story seems to be don't do what you do. It gives you a bitter taste in your mouth after the gunfight Friday morning.

By the time the movie's over, you're wondering how your dad ever thought it was okay to watch that kind of movie with you as a child - maybe he was the demon after all. Still, you would say Robocop is awesome and that you would watch it again.

When the credits roll, just glance over at Mr. Hallow. "So uh. The wall. Sorry about that," you say flatly.
>>
>>32011218
I'm not worried about them spending money. They've invited us into their home and we put a hole in their goddamn wall during a demonic tantrum. We can at least apologize.

Cassandra waves it off. "Please. This house has seen worse from my kids," she says.

Isaac gives a knowing chuckle, while Rowan rolls her eyes from over where she’s texting on her phone.

If that's true, you'd like to hear the details later. Still, there's something else on your mind. “Hey Isaac? I need to talk to you about something.”

Isaac takes a deep breath, as if preparing for a gun to fire at a track meet. Cassandra allows him to get up. You get up as well, and lead him out of the room. “I was kind of thinking more in private,” you say, not liking how you’re still in the vicinity of the others.

Isaac nods, and leads you into the back yard. It’s well tended, and has a nice wood chairs and a table fit for outdoor dining, in addition to a hot tub and a neat little garden.

He sits down at one end of the table, and you take a seat at the other. He raises his hands slightly. “Shoot,” he says.

Dude, I don't think they're supposed to be main adversaries.

It's a good question, but it's one that's been asked to fuck, and if they're planning something we can't trust what they say anyways. Just fucking asking gets you nothing.

>>32011357

>>

>>
>>32011495
If i had to speculate- I'd figure they are probably trying to keep us away from some bigshot local demon that would be looking for recruit us.

>>
>>32011815
I mean if we act overtly evil we're going to get targeted, and Sierra is already established as not totally evil. She's young and made a lot of mistakes, that's it.

>>32011847
It seems less like demons are 'evil' and more like 'really bad anger issues and poor impulse control are common, but then throw superpowers on top of that and people tend to get killed'. And growing scary claws and shit probably doesn't help with building healthy relationships and stuff. I mean, Isaac already went and said that they aren't even really based around any religion or anything like that. They're just a thing that is.

“Why are you helping me?” you ask, completely serious.

Isaac rubs his hands together. “Hoo boy, there’s the question,” he says with a whistle. He takes a moment to compose his thoughts. “I take it you’re not going to take pure altruism as an answer.”

You say nothing.

Isaac seems really uncomfortable with the awkwardness of the current situation, but he dives right into it. “Well. You’re Hellborn,” he says.

“Yeah,” you say.

“And you’re good. You know, where it counts,” he continues.

“That’s debatable,” you say.

Isaac mulls over his next words very carefully. “One time,” he says, “I met someone like you.”

“You mean a Hellborn?”

“Someone like you,” he reemphasizes. “Someone trying their best.”

“But you killed them,” you say, completing the thought.

Isaac shakes his head. “In a way, but not the way you’re thinking,” he says. “I did what I thought best. I let them go.” He pauses for a while. “My father was furious. He chewed me out for a month over that. He never trusted me again with anything – it was only when I had Rowan that we wound up fixing our relationship.”

You don’t see how this relates. “So…?”

“So,” he continues, “I… found that person later. Years later. The one I let go,” he says. “He… wasn’t the same anymore. He got tired of trying.”

You think you understand now – he’s not going to kill you until you snap. You grit your teeth at the idea of him patiently waiting to kill you when you’re too dangerous to live.
>>
>>32012006

Isaac notices you tense up. “I’m not done yet. This kid, he was great. Really smart. But he was on his own, see. He fell in with a certain type of… of crowd. No one was there to tell him, it’s worth it to try. No one was there for him to lean on when he got discouraged, or sad. And one day, I guess, he ran out of reasons. He… hurt a lot of people, Sierra,” he says wincing at an unseen memory. “When I finally stopped him, you know what I couldn’t get out of my head?”

You wait for him to finish.
>>
>>32012020

“It wasn’t all the bad things he did,” Isaac says. “It was his face. Just him, saying, thanks for giving me a chance. I thought I knew what kinds of things were out there, but I didn’t know anything back then. The world’s not built to help kids like you. I thought I was doing the right thing, and I was just throwing him to the dogs. I do good things all the time. I save people. But… giving you someplace to be,” he says, “somewhere to belong. It’s the only way I can save you. Letting you go without trying –it’s the same as if I saw someone drowning and refused to get in the water. I don’t want someone to come along later and do what I did to that poor kid, to you. I can’t let that happen – you’re too great, Sierra. You’re worth it. You deserve a chance, and I want the best for you. I don’t know if you can believe that after everything you’ve seen in your life, but that’s the truth.”

After he finishes talking, you find you’re a little choked up. You do a good job at suppressing it, though. There’s only so much emotion you’re capable of in one day.

“Was there something else?” Isaac says, watching you intently.

Despite wanting to believe what he’s saying, it’s a tough pill to swallow. “I’ve seen a lot of crap,” you say. “But I guess… I don’t know. I’ll see where this goes.”

Isaac nods.

“Now… Ever since I met you, I’ve been hearing a bunch of crap that doesn’t make any sense,” you say. “I don’t know the lexicon. What can you actually tell me about what I am? I mean concrete stuff.”

“Okay,” he says. “You’re part demon. But your demon half isn’t all the same kind of demon. Your different… themes of abilities correspond to the different types of demons in your heritage that possess those abilities. That’s what Harvey meant when he guessed you were part Infernus, part Belphegoran.”

“Those. What are those?” you ask.

“Inferni are the red-skinned things that you see in movies. They’re the stereotypical red-skinned, person-esque things. They can stand in fire and not burn. They’re strong, fast, natural hunters, and the more angry they get, the more powerful they become. They’ve got claws, tails, horns, wings. Everything. That part of you is why you have claws. Based on that, I’d say you smell blood better than the average person. Is that right?”
>>
Let me tell yall how this is going to end.

First of all you're going to find your humanity through the help of these people which is actually a curse because of your kind. Then you're going to spend some threads locked in sexual tension. Then you're going to run into some people of your old gang who terrorize the town and try to hunt down your loved one. BUT WAIT in the climatic battle it turns out that they can help out one of the gang members too. The other two become recurring villains until one of them dies and the other becomes less crazy but still kinda crazy. Then in a big sacrifice to save the family you give up your humanity and become evil. Your loved one then falls in love with the reformed gang member and they both try to save/kill you. In the end you get saved and hook back up with the love interest and the break up when you have to take over an evil company in the name of good. Then the qm decides it's gone on long enough and kills off some characters and fades to black as you fight a horde of enemies.

oh and you also spend a thread or two as a puppet
>>
>>32012323

You see no harm in confirming his suspicion. “Yeah, actually. What about the Belphegoran part?”

He searches a little bit to find a suitable explanation for you. “They’re closest to vampires,” he says. “Not their weaknesses, but their powers. They feed off of negative emotions – they corrupt the nature of things. They can make people feel sad, or afraid. Even push them to suicide. I think I saw you do something like that, a couple times. The more powerful ones can do really horrible things, but for you, I think, it’s probably a lesser Belphegoran you have in your family tree, otherwise you’d have more powers along those lines – it’s the strongest demon blood that dominates in hellborn.”

“So how much more crap is going to develop?” you ask.

“I think you’re mostly done, actually,” says Isaac. “It’s comes in when you’re growing up. That’s why I’m so impressed – you’re really well adjusted for having a full set of demonic powers.”

“Uh... I um… actually, I learned how to do some new stuff just yesterday,” you say, a bit sheepishly.

Isaac is slow to respond. “What exactly are you saying? You learned how to use your powers in new ways, you mean?”

“Well. I ‘learned’ how to hear through soundproof windows. Like when Aguilar told you to get out of his sight.”

The man has trouble understanding what you’re saying. “How did you… you really did, didn’t you,” he says, stunned. “And this was new?”

“Well, yeah. And I started being able to suck power out of people by touching them like Rogue from X-Men.”

Isaac doesn’t say anything for a little bit. “This is… a bit different,” he says.

Judging by Isaac’s blatant shock at the fact you’re collecting powers like stamps, you figure it might be better if you hold off on the whole shadow powers tangent. “Is that like, a bad different, or a good different?” you ask.

“Different as in different,” he says, rubbing his chin and looking off into the sky. “This is really different.” He seems to get his act together, though. He shakes his head. “But we can worry about that later, it’s getting a late. Let’s go back inside.”

The two of you abandon your clandestine meeting and go back into the house. It’s a late night, and you have a lot of things to think about before bed.

--End Part 3--

>>32012679

I hope you enjoyed yourselves. This went on a lot longer than planned, but then again, I didn’t think we'd freak out so much at everything. I guess I should have anticipated Sierra having violent reactions to kindness for kindness sake.

I recognize that some people will be turned off by the Hallow family. That’s fine, I suppose. As the quest becomes more defined, I expect certain people to drop off as they find it’s not to their liking. To each their own.

As for character sheets, I will get one up for Sierra. As you could imagine, her power set is only going to become more convoluted with time, and it’ll be nice if we all have something to refer to. There’s also a skill-tree, but I’m trying to figure out how to present it neatly and without revealing some of the cooler powers before their time. Right now it’s a horrific mess of a thought-web in freemind.

Also, this was a very roleplay heavy segment – and very, very angsty. There should be more action in the threads to come, as well as more direction in the ‘who are we fighting’ field.

In the meantime, how was everything? What was good, what could be done better? Besides typos and crossbows, any areas I could write better in?

As for the next thread, I honestly don’t know. I’ll give a tentative date for Monday, a lot later than my usual time. Maybe staring at 4:00 PM Mountain Standard time. I’ll announce on twitter should I have an unexpected availability or time change (i.e. I may run on Sunday).

Thanks.
I'm going to be nitpicking at the charsheet/other pastebins a lot. Don't get offended by it or something, I do it to every quest.
>There’s also a skill-tree, but I’m trying to figure out how to present it neatly and without revealing some of the cooler powers before their time. Right now it’s a horrific mess of a thought-web in freemind.
Look at how Shadow Quest did it. The rts fog of war style blackout over abilities that are hidden (optional next stage where you have blurred out abilities that are un-blacked but need to be hidden because plot, SQ doesn't have this but I like it), then have revealed but unavailable to obtain, and then revealed and able to be obtained.

As for how it's going, I like it a lot. I loved the really long session and the timely updates are nice. It's refreshing to have a QM run a session like this instead of having every single update take an hour or stop after 3 hrs or something. Looking forward to the next thread.
>>
>>32012715

I see a lot of potential story coming out of living with the Hallows for some time, but Sierra's seventeen, and she'll be eighteen in the not-too-distant future. She could easily get emancipated, figure out an income, and live by herself if she put her mind to it.

>>32012732

I didn't expect there to be a group feeling of let's tell him about our powers, but hey, that's the fun of questing, right?

If there seems to be a majority decision that wasn't the intended result, I'll retcon it. Secrets are fun.

>>32012755

I was trying to mimic shadow quest with the fog-of-war map, but my problem is that I have lots of weird powers from all over the place tie in to bigger powers. It doesn't make a neat tree at all. I guess I could clean that up, but I kind of like the style as it is.
>>
>>32012782
is there a reason you hand waved not telling him about the shadow powers? it looks like every serious vote but 1 said tell him about the shadow powers
>>
>>32012782
What level of education does Sierra have?
>>
>>32012760
I guess if she wanted to self sufficient.

I would've argued it might be dangerous to be in a demon hunter's house until the QM confirmed they exist to house and feed us.
>>
>>32012806
I stopped being suspicious as soon as Sierra woke up in the morning.

And became less so when clothes were bought.
>>
>>32012688
Yeah, the general consensus was not to reveal the enhanced senses. It really does not make sense for her to reveal that. There's no way she trusts Issac completely by now, even if she does trust him on some level.

Aside that, I enjoyed it a fair bit. Sierra's angst is well within acceptable limits so far. She's a half demon teenage girl with a shitty past who just had a bunch of her friends killed and nearly died herself, and that was only yesterday. It'd be out of place if she didn't angst some. Plus it was well done enough that I didn't mind it at all. It's good to see a protagonist freaking out in a believable way once in a while. Is something to be careful about though, and she's probably done as much angsting as she can get away with for a while.
>>
>>32012798

I figured half wanted to tell about shadow powers, half wanted to tell about getting new powers. I guess I made a decision between the halves, while not picking both.

>>32012805

She has some high school, but she really hasn't been keeping up in her education for a while. A high school diploma would be useful in the future, though.

>>32012806

I guess the point of this ultra-thread was to learn that yes, you can trust the Hallows. I thought it was an interesting plot for the day.

.>>32012826

I don't revel in angst, but it seemed really natural for the character. After that, though, I don't see anything on that level happening for a long time, so I hope you enjoyed it while it lasted.
>>
>>32012826
I think he told Isaac about the enhanced senses because they really aren't out to get us and the paranoia is getting annoying for him. It's was getting annoying to half the players in here and they didn't even have confirmation about how the Hallows really are. Telling him about the enhanced senses really kicks the paranoia possibilities in the ballsack.
>>
>>32012849
>I don't revel in angst, but it seemed really natural for the character. After that, though, I don't see anything on that level happening for a long time, so I hope you enjoyed it while it lasted.
Pretty much exactly what I was getting at with the above post. I'm not a giant fan of angst either, but there are some times when it's appropriate and this one was one of them.
>>
>>32012882
What? You're thinking backwards. If anything, it increases paranoia since we can not secretly listen on them.
>>
>>32012882
That doesn't make any sense, anon. I was assuming he just didn't see it in time.
>>
>>32012897
It makes it ooc for Sierra to go to the same paranoid extents that some players are. She already trusts Isaac enough to not listen in secretly.
>>
>>32012919
How do you know what's out of character for her?
>>
>>32012882
You really think he did that just because a couple other players were getting annoyed?
>>
>>32012931
Are you really trying to suggest that it's impossible to get a bead on what a character is like when reading about their thoughts and actions?
>>
>>32012961
I got the impression that she wouldn't tell this strange family all of her secrets.
>>
>>32012977
Ah. So you were just trying to say that people who aren't you are incapable of knowing what Sierra is like. Gotchya.
>>
>>32013003
Nice, going for personal attacks now. Really backing up your argument.
>>
>>32013003
What are you even trying to say?
>>
>>32012919
You are wrong. She does not trust them completely. That much is obvious. When she could listen and see that they were not talking and scheming something bad about her, that would calm her down. Just like it did just last night. Now if she suspects them to be talking in secret, and Isaac will be able to keep her from hearing now that he know she can, it will only increase her paranoia.

>>32013003
>>32012961
You sound desperate. Your words can be thrown back at you easily and they would be more fitting.
>>
>>32013020
>I say that X would be ooc
>You ask how it's even possible to know how something is ooc.
>I ask if you seriously just asked that.
>You respond by saying that you thought Y was ooc.
That exchange really does look like you think that you're saying that other people can't know anything about Sierra at all. I'm not seeing another way to interpret someone saying that knowing something about a thing is impossible, and then claiming to know something about that thing.

But now the conversation has gotten pretty derailed from what it was.

How does telling him about the senses make the extreme paranoia ooc? Well, it shows that she trusts him at least enough to throw away the ability to spy on them as easily. A very paranoid person would have not told him about the super senses at all.

>>32013080
I never said it was complete trust, I said she wasn't super paranoid. She obviously doesn't trust them 100%, because she didn't tell him about the shadow powers. At the same time, she's probably not going to be sleeping with the door barricaded or constantly thinking about how to run off and not get found or attempting to listen in on every single conversation that she can to find out info about some secret plotting.
>>
>>32013174
We were arguing she wouldn't have done that. QM said he might retcon if enough people agree.
>>
>>32013174
He just didn't see the votes explicitly not to tell him we have super senses.
>>
>>32013174
>That exchange really does look like you think that you're saying that other people can't know anything about Sierra at all.

No, anon, it just shows you have terrible reading comprehension.

>>32013174
>I'm not seeing another way to interpret someone saying that knowing something about a thing is impossible, and then claiming to know something about that thing.

Where the hell did I post that? Again, reading comprehension, you do not have it.

>>32013174
>Well, it shows that she trusts him at least enough to throw away the ability to spy on them as easily

We were arguing that she shouldn't said that because we voted for it not to happen.

>>32013243
>We were arguing that she shouldn't said that because we voted for it not to happen.

*shouldn't have

It's too late and I'm making grammatical errors. I'm done, hopefully we can vote for the retcon next thread.
>>
>>32013269
nah, what is done is done. Fuck retcons.
>>
>>32013243
>Where the hell did I post that?
Right here >>32012931 you ask how it's possible to know how something is ooc. You didn't ask why I thought that paranoia was ooc, you said >>32012931 "How do you know what's out of character for her?". You asked how it is possible to know whether anything is ooc, which denotes a belief that it is impossible for a player to determine the oocness of an action. That wouldn't really be an objectionable position since QMs really are the final authority on the matter, but then you turned around and did what you claim can't be done by declaring that Sierra telling the Hallows secrets is ooc in >>32012977.
>>32013243
>We were arguing that she shouldn't said that because we voted for it not to happen.

When/if the retcon happens, sure. It will be that way. As of right now, according to the events of the story, it is not that way and Sierra trusts him enough to tell him about the super senses.

Though, you two seem to think that the main point of what I was saying was a declaration about what Sierra's character should be or is permanently. No. I was saying that it was possible that the QM was trying to use this to curb paranoia by making paranoia ooc. If/when a vote to have a retcon happens, that point will be proven wrong.

>>32013372
>I was saying that it was possible that the QM was trying to use this to curb paranoia by making paranoia ooc

Like I said, it's more likely he just didn't see them.
>>
>>32013471
The second he calls for the retcon vote, you'll be proven right. I hope he does; it would mean he's not one of those QMs that tries to 'subtly' manipulate his players and telling Isaac about the shadows instead of the senses was the better option anyway.
>>
>>32012687
I wasn't here for this second thread, but personally I was disappointed (not like it's all your fault since anons vote for stuff) with how it went. Not because I wanted our protagonist to go back to gang life or anything like that, but because it all felt too fast and easy. Between Harvey acting like a saint and everything with Isaac it just fell flat for me, there wasn't even as much as a snide snipe or whatever from Rowan, or a crack in the perfect family image or anything. I dunno, I just had more hopes for Sierra and the family learning about each-other rather than combined therapy/info-dump. The first two threads certainly did that a lot better.
>>
>>32014496
If we stay there, I'm pretty sure the whole stuff with Rowan is going to unfold at some point. Maybe she's out for us, or maybe she's just being a teenager. Besides, we know next to nothing of them yet, except the creepy (for me, anyways) perfect family thing they have going.
>>
>>32014855
Yeah, but that's kinda the problem. For example, at several points Sierra's reactions are colored by her still being a teenage girl despite the gang-banging, demon-heritage stuff that shapes her, and Rowan's issues are also colored through the lens of immaturity, which is reasonable. It provides conflict, room to grow, and more believable character interactions, all good to have for any story.

However, read the first few updates of the thread. How the fuck is Harvey, the ~14 year old kid, more calm and composed than even his dad? Fuck, I'm 26 and pretty outgoing and personable, and I would have been pretty fucking awkward there. It was jarring as fuck to read. Not even a matter of him being too nice or anything, just...that's a fucking inhuman composure. If I thought that was intentionally supposed to be creepy then maybe I'd let it go, but I can't see it that way. I mean, I'm kinda miffed at the parents taking it that well too, but the Harvey stuff was what REALLY put me off this whole thread.
>>
>>32012687
Good stuff, mate. Can't wait for the next sesh.
>>
Really enjoying this quest. I think >>32015058
may have something of a point, but at the moment I'm willing to assume that Harvey just has more angel in him than the others, and he kinda IS supposed to be a little inhuman.

I can't help but see this whole past few threads as kinda like the last Scarlet-Spider ongoing. "Sierra wants to be hardcore, but the Hallows won't let her".
>>
>>32015058
I see him as fairly creepy too. Cassandra too, for that matter.

I can't into happy families.
>>
>>32015058
>>32015849
>>32015984
>OMG so creepy
It sounds like you guys were molested by an ice-cream man.

And I think the entire point is that their personalities and dispositions are more human than we'd expect a half angel's/demon's to be.
>>
>>32015058
>>32015849
>>32015984

I think that's related to their heritage. They seem to be kind in such a way that normal people just interacting with them probably find off-putting. They are supernaturally understanding and patient. People probably notice this on some level, and detect something 'weird' about them. But they're so incredibly earnest that they can just take the weirdness and sweep it under the rug.

MC has a different problem. Sierra has anger issues that made her impossible for who knows how many foster homes to deal with, which stands out because once she was known to be 'troubled' she probably would only have been given over to foster homes with a good reputation for rehabilitation. The fact that those same families, which are already people with a lot of patience, understanding, and kindness all gave up on her (and quickly too, judging by how she had been in several of them) is telling. She isn't just angry, she's abnormally angry in a way that other people find frightening and unsettling. Just like the Hallow families kindness, only without being tempered by that same kindness.

Not sure about Rowan though. Some teenagers are more or less rebellious than others. Maybe Harvey isn't to hung up about being an angel, maybe Rowan is rebelling as hard as she can. It would be funny if getting her hair dyed and going 'ugh' at things is what she thinks of as bad girl behavior. Maybe she just wishes she were a normal human.

Wow, sorry I missed this
