With a smile, Charme agrees to the proposition of joining you and Tear for an afternoon of leisurely shopping.
Ignoring Tear's continued protests, you call the barmaid over and pay for your food. Then you and Charme exit the pub into the afternoon sunlight, Tear fluttering behind in an attempt to keep up.

You've got a good few hours left of the market day, and you're definitely going to make good use of them!

>Stop by the food traders? Buy ALL the sweets.
>Go for the tailor's street? Try on clothes with Charme!
>Be productive? Talk to traders you don't know so well, make some friends.

Unknown tailor, I am sure there are some we have not met yet. Unless there is only one in town, which would be odd.

I wonder if we can find clothes for Tear too.

What would you classify Kaleun's stuff as? lolidark? grimoe? The cuteness from the girls is enough to balance out the grimness and possibility of anyone dieing, and the girls are capable of killing without remorse

"Hey, hey Charme. Let's go clothes shopping!" Her eyes light up at the suggestion.

"Sure. And I think I know just the place~!"

Her sly grin is spoiled by Tear interjecting. "And I think I know exactly what sort of place to which you are referring. She said clothes shopping, Charme." She puts a strange amount of emphasis on the 'clothes'. You tilt your head inquisitively as Charme drops her response.

"So she did, and that's why I was going to take her to Mr. Percival's store. Why, which store were you thinking of?" Tear doesn't reply, though her cheeks tint a gentle pink.

Charme chuckles, linking her arm in yours and leading you off down the main road to the tailors' street. It's a good thing you've just eaten, else you're not sure you'd have been able to stand walking past all these stalls, the mingling scents of fresh food and baked sweets filling your senses. Regardless, you pass them quickly enough and turn onto the street. Both sides of this wide brick road are lined with wide windows filled with manikins dressed in the latest fashions, leading to open-plan stores showing off a huge selection of outfits.
The difference between the two sides of the road is quite stark, however. One side is lined with fabulous and frilly clothing that could show up a princess, and filled with only a bare handful of the wealthiest residents of the town. While the other is much more practical, boasting the sort of clothes you and Charme are wearing right now: the sort of clothes you've always worn, and probably always will.

You look longingly at some of the outrageous get-ups in the fancy stores, before looking back to the stores you belong in.

>Go for the expensive stores?
>Go for the cheaper stores?

>Do you want to just play around and try clothes on or actually acquire some new threads?

You decide to stick to the less flashy side of the road. Charme takes you by the arm once more, "Percival's store is just over here." She leads you a few stores down before turning into one of the nicer-looking entrances and into a very open-plan store lined with outfits. You can't really see any that would suit you, they all seem much more suited to someone with a... figure.

A small bell tinkles above you, and a young gentleman with an eager expression greets you. "Welcome, welcome!" He smiles, nodding a greeting to Charme before bowing low to you. "Welcome to my humble store, my dear. My name is Percival Roberts, owner of this fine establishment. I assure you, we have only the finest fashion in stock. Please, feel free to browse. I shall be here if you need help picking something to match your wonderful figure."

Charme smirks at the young man, before casually waving him down. "No need for the smooth talk, Percival. It's not going to win you extra sales, ya know."

"Cold as ever, my dear Charme. But this is what I adore about you."

>Say something?
>Get straight to trying on clothes?
>>
>>31977429
>Say something?

"Hi, I'm Recette! So do you two know each other or something? Also, do you have some stock that's more, well, my size?"
>>
>>31977429

>>
>>31977429
"Hi, I'm Recette Lemongrass! And this is Tear," you gesture to Tear, who is hovering disinterestedly behind you. "We own the item shop on the hill, Recettear!" Percival nods his acknowledgment and shakes your offered hand. "So do you two know each other or something?" Percival smiles an uncomfortable smile, while Charme grins an amused one.

"Yeah, we go a little way back," Charme explains. "First person I 'met' when I got here."

"And we have shared a unique relationship since," Percival adds.

You shrug. "Okay. And do you have some stock that's more, well, my size?"

"Of course, of course! Please, simply pick an outfit you like the look of and I shall endeavor to find a size that fits."

You start to make your way around the store, but none of the clothes really jump out at you. Tear floats off to the far end of the store where you can just make out a line of clothes matched to her size on a short shelf.

By the time you've finished idly looking through all the clothes on display, there are a few that might look cute but you don't really feel any are amazing. Charme hasn't picked anything for herself either, but a gleam in her eye as she gazes at you tells you she has an idea. You ask her what it is.

"Well, there are a few I think would look good on you, but we can't really tell unless we try them on, can we? Come on, let's pick out a few. I'll help."

>Try them on?
>Let Charme help?
>>
>>31977928
Meh. What's the worst that can happen?

>Yes
>>
>>31977928
yes to both
what could go wrong?
>>
>>31977928
Yeah why not. Some of them might be difficult to get on by yourself after all!
>>
>>31977928
>>Let Charme help?
That's what friends do!
>>
>>31977928
"Yeah, let's do that," you smile your agreement. Charme picks out a few outfits for you, and Percival drops into the back of the store to seek out the clothes in your size.

Together, you slip into one of the changing rooms near the back of the store and Charme sets about helping you into the first of the outfits. She proves to be extremely helpful, her hands hurry to undress you. She spends more time helping to dress you again however, though no less eager. Her hands are quick and deft in their fixing of certain buttons and ribbons, though they also seem to wander a little, succeeding in eliciting a squeak or squeal from you every so often. Each time causing her to let out a quiet giggle.

Once done, she has you step out into the open so her and Percival can both cast a discerning eye over you. Percival keeps making some minor criticisms, while Charme nods and agrees, or fiddles with some detail of your outfit, or turns you around for a better view.
You can feel your face flushing red as they examine you so closely. You're really not used to this sort of experience.

As soon as they're done with their inspection, Charme pulls you back into the changing room and the process begins once more.
>>
>>31978408
Eventually, the two settle on a piece that you really don't think would suit yourself, but they're both so happy with the choice that you just can't find it in yourself to turn them down.

A long-sleeved orange jumper with a pale yellow hood and cuffs goes with a very, very short maroon miniskirt that barely covers your upper thighs. You're not even sure how you're supposed to move about without flashing someone. Your lower legs are at least covered by mid-thigh length stockings and a pair of tough leather boots, but all the important bits are still left open to the world!
Over the jumper, you're also wearing a pair of steel bands on your arms and a steel chest-plate, though Percival assures you that it's just a stylish extra if you were to ever need to act in an adventurous fashion, and that the outfit looks fantastic even without the armored accessories. Around your shoulders is a cute yellow neck scarf, tied off at the front with a red ribbon.

Tear also appears beside you, holding out an outside in her size. "I-if you wouldn't be too troubled, I very much like this piece."

"Ehehe, you want me to buy it for you, Tear?" She nods, blushing while not making eye contact with you. You giggle, taking the outfit from her and taking a proper look at it. It... surprises you, to say the least. It covers a lot less skin than you would've expected of anything Tear would wear. The skirt is a surprise in itself, a short thing split into four leaves that would surely splay out with any movement, showing off an indecent amount of flesh. Even more interesting is the tiny pale-green tube top with huge frills, held on with two threaded straps over the shoulders goes alongside a pair of completely separate poofy green sleeves apparently tied directly to the arms.

You quietly collect the items together and vow to try not to judge Tear on her choice of personal attire, certainly not when you're dressed like... this.

>Bonus picture to anyone who can correctly identify the reference!

Percival leads you over to his till and happily runs up the numbers. A little haggling later, followed by a couple of sly winks from Charme, and the total prices comes out at 7,600 pix: a rather reasonable price, you think, for such good quality. You happily pay the sum from your vast cash reserves and leave the store wearing your new purchase, still arm-in-arm with Charme.

He may be pretty demoralized right now and may have a few bruised ribs and stuff. We even said earlier that we were going to go buy him a bed! We can at least check out the prices and see what we can do.

We might not have to pay Louie a wage, but we need to get him to at least think that we care about him as a person and not just as a warrior we can pay with room & board and sandwiches.

A thought crosses your mind, and you realize you never bought a bed for Louie, despite promising him one days ago. You resolve to fix this problem right now! "Tear, we need to buy a bed for Louie!"

"Eh, what? Oh, yes. I suppose it would be good for him to sleep on a real mattress. Hard ground won't be doing good things to his well-being, and we need our warrior in top form." Together, the three of you head back to the main market street and cross to one of the other stores stocking cheap furniture. Inside, you quickly find a few choices of suitable bed: a full-sized double bed, a comfortable-looking single bed, or a small futon that would easily fit him.

The price for even the simplest futons is in the thousands of pix range!

>Buy the futon? Budget, here! [10,000pix]

You pay the store clerk for the single bed, and have one of the man's apprentices help Tear cart the thing back to your home. Meanwhile, you walk with Charme towards the fountain in the town square, looking for a space to sit together.

Once you're both comfortable, you ask her about getting in touch. "...I mean, yeah we could leave messages at the Adventurer's Guild, but... what about just as friends? Luring you out with unattended drinks seems like a lot of trouble all the time."

Charme chuckles lightly, her face lighting up. "Well, I'm around enough. I'm sure if you're really eager, we'll run into each other. Don't worry about it."

You frown at the lack of an answer. "Well, you live somewhere, right?"

She goes quiet, refusing to answer the question, evading your gaze. The silence stretches on into awkwardness.

In an effort to resume the conversation, you pop a question that's been playing on your mind. "Hey... Charme. Yesterday, when you were talking to Tear," you don't even finish the line before she visibly tenses up.

"Ah, you heard that, huh? Just, uh. I don't know what you heard, but just forget it, alright? If she hasn't told you yet, I'm sure there's a reason. She might be a devious little witch, but she's tryin' to look out for you. I can guarantee that much."

You pull the widest puppy-dog eyes you can, looking up to her as you lean into her, chin resting on her shoulder.
"Heh, cute," she mumbles, gently ruffling you hair, "but don't think that's going to get me to say any more. If you're really that bothered by it, ask Tear herself. Like I said, I'm sure she's got her reasons."

"And what about where you live?"

"Nope, not telling."

"Well fine," you pout. "But at least come by the store more often! I like seeing you, stop making it so hard for me to meet my friends!"

"Heh, alright. I'll stop by the store tomorrow morning, how does that sound?"

"Yayifications! Okay, take care Charme! And I'll see you tomorrow!" You pull her into a hug that she returns, before hopping up and starting to skip back up the road towards your home after Tear. You manage a few steps before you remember what you're currently wearing and stop dead, flushing deeply.
With one hand carefully positioned behind your back to keep your skirt down, you steadily walk the rest of the way home.

And that's all for this week, folks!

Need to call the thread to a close earlier than I wanted, for reasons. The same reasons that also kept my update speed way down tonight.

This thread went somewhat more in the cute girls doing cute things direction than I was planning, but hey. It's all good, right?

From next week onwards, I'm hoping to be looking at more free time to be liberally applied to QM'ing again, meaning I should be able to go back to 12-hour long all-day threads. And hopefully with more content each week, but we'll see.

Now, unless anyone would like me to hang out for some quick Q&A, I feel the burning need to go pass out.

As always, thanks for the great thread, and I hope to see you all next week! Oh, and an extra thanks to any lurkers/archive bingers for also taking the time to read my content!

We CAN buy bike shorts, or something. Although we won't need it if it's for the purposes of looking like an adventurer in the store.

As a character or as a dungeon diver?

Louie is just so accessible and simple to use that it's hard to get a better dungeon diver.
He's also clearly Recette's soulmate. Tielle is adorable, and Charme is a great character.
But I have a soft spot in my heart for Nagi.

I think Charme is the most fun to play as, with the similar playstyle to Louie, but with the extra speed and reduced defense meaning you need to play smarter. The others are just too... specialized for me to really enjoy, other than as token attempts.
