>The Rules:http://pastebin.com/Dj9z4r1t>Previous Thread:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/31683387/>Contact Information:https://twitter.com/WeaselThat>UPDATED Stats Page:http://pastebin.com/v178ZNSj>Introduction & Summary: You are Katja Hartkern, probably the most unorthodox Kyokugenryuu practitioner alive and a participant in "The King of Fighter's: Infinite Match"... Though right now, you're sleeping in your soon-to-be NOT villa at "The Imperial" Hotel, still recovering from the amazing amount of punishment you've put yourself through in the last three days. The bare statistics are pretty interesting to you as you think about them in your dreamless sleep; In three days you've gone through four separate fights and went 3-0-1, the last battle against Mai Shiranui ending in a virtual draw, as while you HAD knocked her down, you backed out for around 3 hours after her Full-Strength (AKA "Powered Up") "Phoenix Dance" Desperation Move had hit you during your " Fuujin to Raijin no Tenshouken".Thankfully, you were no worse for wear and after checking in with your friends Yuri Sakazaki, King and the other members of Mai's "New Gorgeous Team", you headed home (Though not before getting a few anecdotes from Tsuyako Horikawa's mother, Hatsune, on her "Glory Days" of wrestling in Japan and a few of the eccentric training exercises she'd put herself through, going over a few strategies about "The Soul of the Streets Team" You, Yuri & King should be facing in little less than a week and having tensions flare over your supposed drinking "Problem") and fell asleep that night studying videos online of Heavy D!, Lucky Glauber & Duck King for ideas on what to do against them when "The Infinite Match" begins...You took the following day off for the most part, doing some Tai-Chi out near "Meadow's Park" and struggling to contain your libido when you met a curiously androgynous, but attractive young woman at Shermie's "Fantastique La Femme"...
>>31958701>Introduction & Summary Continued: Whether it was stemming from your lack of a social life, her blush when you saw her looking at some of the outrageous swimsuits or your libido taking over when you started imagining what she'd look like IN one of Shermie's retro-80's/90's "Swimwear", but you offered to talk with her and, luckily, she was a fan of your modelling work with Shermie's swimwear catalog. From there, the two of you hit it off and went out to lunch together, finding that Avery (As she called herself) was a master of Aikido and, among other things, seemed to be a mirror image of yourself as far as her backstory and motivation to fight... Which lead to a few training drills out on Sound Beach, as well as her phone number and the promise to meet up with her to possibly spar and/or train together (With Avery out-and-out wanting to have you teach her your near-bootleg'd Kyokugen Karate), though to be honest you don't quite know what to think about all of this, or even why she seemed so friendly towards you... Not to mention that you only ran into her at Shermie's in the first place because oyou had wanted to talk to Shermie and her boyfriend Yashiro Nanakase about a possible "Date" (IE a chance for you to "Relieve some stress", in a way)...>Out of Katja Summary:Before the players had a chance to go on Katja's day off and meet Avery, we got the briefest of glimpses at Fiona Graves getting drive out to South Town International Airport for her flight to Europe, with everything not quite as it seemed...===THat said, let's kick this topic off with a much-belated vote, shall we?>A. Assume the role of Katja Hartkern on 5/27/xx and play through the day.>B. Go on a "Dream Sequence" as Katja, waking up on 5/27.>C. Assume the role of...? ("Write-In" Vote to determine which character in this storyline to gain direct control over)>D. Something Else... ("Write-in/Combine up to 2 Votes" Vote)
>>31959078 >C. Assume the role of...? ("Write-In" Vote to determine which character in this storyline to gain direct control over)Fiona Graves, because you left us hanging when we last saw her OP.
>>31959078 >C. Assume the role of...? ("Write-In" Vote to determine which character in this storyline to gain direct control over)Andrew Draco, because racing cars when you should be fighting is fun IMHO.
>>31959078>B.Lewd as FUCK fantasies ahoy!
>>31959078>>B. Go on a "Dream Sequence" as Katja, waking up on 5/27.Down the rabbithole we go.
>>31959078>>31959406Fuck it, changing my vote to Option B to get this show on the road.
>>31959455>>31959488>>31959594Alright, Option B takes the vote and updates will arrive shortly... Keep in mind that this is probably going to be the LAST one of these for the entire quest; Do those that voted for Option B still want to go through with it?
>>31959620The last dream sequence?By that, do you mean 'do it now or you miss your shot', or will it be an option at a later date, provided we refuse it now?If the former, do it. If the latter, save it for another time.
>>31959704It's the former, as I had intended to hold back on these and maybe eliminate them altogether (Or make them non-interactive for a while, as Katja doesn't go off on "Lucid Dreams" like this every single night)...And I'm awfully sorry for not adding this into the branching paths option for Option B Anons; Doing so would've forced the post to go over the character limit and I was already rushing to get it done and out ASAP, so...
>>31959620>>31959824If that's the case, then let's go for it Weasel. Also, while I appreciate the tineliness isuues getting adressed, I don't think it's cool to let something like that slide and get mentioned AFYER a vote gets decided.
>>31959902Stupid phone acting up on me again...
>>31959902Understood and it won't happen again.>>31959594>>31959488>>31959455>Updates Officially Begin>You now gain control of Katja Hartkerm's PsycheYou can feel a hand rest on your shoulder and hear a soft, almost gentle voice say "C'mon, wake up sleepy head…" as it tries to shake you a little. At first, you can't quite tell who's voice that is and roll over in your bed, pulling the blankets over your head to better muffle the sound of whoever's nagging at you to get ready to face the day. It's only when you hear the voice threaten you by stating "I WILL get a bucket of cold water" that you open your eyes and sat bolt upright, because that almost sounded like..."Dad?" you drowsily ask, not quite believing that he was back after all of these years (Or that he hadn't sounded like he hadn't aged a day since he had left) as you open your eyes to see that, well, it IS Michael Hartkern staring back at you, his blonde beard and thinning hair looking almost like they were highlighting how tan he was from living out in The Outback for so long."No, I'm the ghost from Hamlet" your father teased, then tells you "C'mon, just because it's Saturday and you don't have school is no reason to laze about."You get a sinking feeling in your stomach as something about this wasn't right; Michael was dead! ... Well, OK, maybe not dead, but he HAS been M.I.A for nearly 7 years now and besides that, you're living in South Town as a 30-something, training for "Thing King of Fighter's: Infinite Match" and looking forward to getting a chance to spar with King, or that Avery chick you had met... Weren't you? No, it couldn't have been, that was just a dream. A pretty sad, weird dream for sure... But oddly cool at times. You roll out of bed and pulled out a clean pair of blue jeans and a t-shirt from his dresser while Michael turned to the second bed in the room and attempted to rouse its occupant... All while thinking "Hang, who the bloody hell's THAT?"
>>31960500The other person made no response, only continuing to lay in bed in a vain attempt to reclaim the sleep from which he(/she?) had been so rudely pulled from. After a few more prods, Michael threw up his arms in defeat and exited the room while you stood by the side of the other bed after you had finished dressing...You had contemplated whether or not it might be a good idea to attempt to wake this person as well but decided against it, as something in your gut told you that whoever this was supposed to be was NOT a morning person; In fact, you could sense that he/she was cranky and snappy and just all around unpleasant to be around when woken up to early just by leaning in towards the bed... You shrug at that and exited the bedroom you don't recall sharing with ANYONE and headed into the living room/dinning room/kitchen of the small apartment and was greeted by the pleasant scent of frying bacon, hash browns and eggs. A man that looked a bit like "Slick" Sukihiro sat at the kitchen's foldout table reading that morning's edition of "The Australian", peering out the side of his paper when you entered and pulled out the crossword and started doing Sudoku puzzles. He then set the page down at your normal seat at the table, all just a part of your morning routine...Wait a minute, WAS this part of your routine? You don't recall this guy ever living with you before, not to mention doing the crossword and sudoku in either; Wasn't your normal morning routine to blast on one of Robert Garcia's various training machine's or swim in his gloriously heated pool? You mentally shrugged and decided that you MUST still be half asleep and sat at the table, taking the offered mind-puzzles. You were halfway through the "Across" section of the crossword (That in itself a small miracle) when Michael placed a plate of warm eggs, bacon and potatoes in front of you, smelling better than you ever thought such a "Plain" meal could...
>>31961019It was at that moment that a young woman that looked JUST like you (Though with slightly longer hair and without the scar across your left cheek) chose to grace all of you with her presence, swaggering out of the bedroom still in her PJs and carrying that annoying stuffed Koala that she always toted around...Your blood froze at the sight of her as it almost seemed like the matrix of your dream was going to burst apart at the seams for a second, though everything stabilized when you started to ponder if she didn't take "Mr. Grumbles" with her it into the shower sometimes. "Mornin' all" She yawned, "Ah, sleeping beauty wakes!" Michael jested as he offered her a plate of food, taking a few breaths as she took it and sat down next to you, oddly expecting her to "Flip out" and start beating the ever-loving crap out of you and your "Family"... When you hear Michael ask "Katja? Are you alright hun?">A. Shake your head "No" and tell him that you need to excuse yourself for a moment, then desperately look for a bathroom or something because it feels like you're going to throw up...>B. Keep calm, Nod at your dad's question and eat your breakfast in peace and quiet.>C. FREAK OUT AND PUNCH PEOPLE!>C. Something Else... ("Write-In" Vote)
Did we just get Truman Show'd? Or is this still a dream?>>31961241>B.Keep calm and Kyokugenryuu!
>>31961369Don't worry, this is all still a dream Anon.
>>31961241 >B. Keep calm, Nod at your dad's question and eat your breakfast in peace and quiet.
>>31961241>>B. Keep calm, Nod at your dad's question and eat your breakfast in peace and quiet. This is weird. We are Katja. Our life is weird.Roll with it.Eventually we'll get to the point where it doesn't even faze us.
>>31961535>>31961369>>31961639You quietly nod at your dad's comment, then tell him "Yeah, I'm OK... Just had somethin' in my throat for a second.""Blood 'ell, y'always wolf food down don'tcha?" you hear your supposed "Other-Half" ask as you try to strain yourself from punching her out, memories from some far-off part of your dream creeping up into your mind as your "Family" ate in contented silence, a part of you happy that THIS was your reality and not that awful dream…After breakfast Michael took you and "Katherine" to the park. He sat on the grass under the shade of a tree to watch the two of you play around while "Katie" was busy pestering you to play a one-on-one game of basketball with her... But you refused; Basketball was one of your roomate's thing, not yours. Your hobby was… Wait, what were your hobbies again? Training? Riding motorcycles aimlessly? But why? What reason did you have to train everyday if your dad wasn't gone and you (For all intents and purposes) DIDN'T get sexually assaulted at some bar (As you feel like that you're too young to have had that happen to you)? There seemed to be all kinds of gaping holes in your memory: What had you been doing these past few years with your "Family" that you didn't remember? One thing was for sure: You knew that you weren't going to figure anything out with your "Sister" nagging you to play some stupid game. You gave "Katie" the bush-off and walked over to sit with Michael in the shade of his tree. "You don't wanna play with your sister?" Your father asked, sounding surprised. "I…" you start to explain, but faltered as you pondered how could you explain such a severe amnesia like this to your dad? "I didn't want to be out in the sun today after that whole week out on the farm; You know how I burn easily after somethin' like that..."Michael nodded as you guess that this must have been a common occurrence on outings such as this, you couldn't remember...
>>31962037Though that train of thought got derailed when Michael reached into a picnic basket that you didn't think he had brought and pulled out a small stack of sandwiches, offering one to you. "Since you're not gonna play with your sister, how 'bout some lunch?"You took a look at it and obediently took the offered food. It was a bit bland and tasteless in your mouth, but you took a few more bites before setting it to the side so as not to insult your father's culinary skills. After a prolonged pause, Michael asks "Is something bothering you?""No..." you answered slowly as possible, trying to hide your growing fear and the feeling that this just isn't right. "Not really. It's just that… I think I'm a little confused is all. Never mind."Mickael seemed to accept your answer and didn't push the issue, turning his attention back to watching "Katherine" as she had found some cocky-looking guy to play with. The two of you watched them play about a half-court's length away from the shade of their tree, a slight breeze rustled the leaves of their tree and blowing through your hair. You pulled a stray, extremely long strand of your fly golden hair from your eyes and saw that Michael was unaffected by the breeze."Its nice, isn't it?" your father said without looking at you. "The wind on your face, the life we're livin' out 'ere in Sydney... It feels good, doesn't it?">A. Nod and enjoy the sun and your sister's antics on the court with some "Wally" with your dad by your side.>B. Shake your head "No" and see what your father says.>C. Ignore the other two parts of Michael's question and focus on the wind part, asking him if he can feel it or not (IE Turn the dream lucid)>D. Something Else... ("Write-In" Vote)>E. "Wake Up" (IE End the dream and wake up on 5/27 as Katja Hartkern)>F. Pause the current "Dream Sequence" and Assume the role of...? ("Write-In" Vote to determine which character in this storyline to gain direct control of)
>>31962296 >C. Ignore the other two parts of Michael's question and focus on the wind part, asking him if he can feel it or not(IE Turn the dream lucid)We existentialist now muthafuckah!
>>31962296>>C. Ignore the other two parts of Michael's question and focus on the wind part, asking him if he can feel it or not (IE Turn the dream lucid)Buckle up, gents.
>>31962296>C.Like there's any other choice...
>>31962371>>31962408>>31962477You ignore the other part of your father's query and ask "Can't you feel it?", sounding confused, yet oddly truthful about it.You knew that something was up when instead of answering you directly, your beloved, proud Papa turned to face you and smiled a sad and forlorn looking smile... And further felt that things were going to get psychologically bumpy when the wind stopped, the sounds of the park seemed to fade-out as though you were suddenly going deaf, your vision focused completely on Michael as if you were seeing him through a tunnel. "You can't feel it..." You slowly started to say, thinking your way through it. "Because you're not really here."Michael nodded as the world around you started to fade into a sepia-like shades."Because you're dead" you conclude, a part of you hoping that it weren't the case... Only to get another nod. At that moment there was a whoosh and everything disappeared;"Katherine" vanished as did the muted colors and sounds of the park, the tree under which the two of you were sitting under, everything but Michael Hartkern, your father. After standing out in an empty void for what seemed like an eternity, Michael turned to leave."Oi! Wait!" you yell, your body feeling warm as you feel yourself start to rapidly age, transforming back into your gloriously toned and "Built" body. The specter of your father paused, as it felt like you'd have one last chance to ask him a question before he leaves you and this vision of a life you never had implodes.>A. "What was all of that? Because I never lived in the city with you, or some "Master" or a sister or whatever...">B. "What Am I?">C."Why'd Mum have t'die?">D. Something Else... ("Write-in/Combine up to 2 Votes" Vote)>E. "Wake Up" (IE End the dream and wake up on 5/27 as Katja Hartkern)>F. Pause the current "Dream Sequence" and Assume the role of...? >>31962757 >D. Something Else... ("Write-in/Combine up to 2 Votes" Vote)B, then A to cover our bases... Let me guess, Katja's actually some kind eldrictian horror disguised as a human or some sgit, right Weasel?
>>31962757>>A. "What was all of that? Because I never lived in the city with you, or some "Master" or a sister or whatever..."The ell's goin on?
>>31962949>>31963160Looks like a combination of A & B is going to win this unless more votes arrive shortly...
>>31962757>>31963115>>31963574Changing from A to A+B.3 votes for. Unanimous.
>>31963160>>31962949>>31963677OK Then! A combination of A & B wins the vote, but I have to commute ASAP; Updates are pending...
OK, back from my commute. Fasten your seatbelts Anons, because SHIT IS HAPPENING.>>31963677>>31963160>>31962949You close your eyes and yell "What Am I?", sounding more like some scared little girl rather than the woman you ended up becoming (At least physically)."You... Are something that god wouldn't give me and your wife at first; No matter how hard we prayed, no matter what we did or took or tried, we couldn't conceive a child" you hear your father explain, your heart racing as the background starts to form into an almost-familiar scene: The laboratory from your hot-pants-wearing escapade you had gone on some time ago, specifically that seemingly endless row of human-sized cylinders, each one of them holding virtual replicas of you and "Katherine"..."Science though... Science found a way" He concludes, though not without tinges of regret and disgust in his voice as you start to cry, though more out of anger at how perfectly fucked up this all seems to you."So I'm a monster then!? Some bloody Frankenstein you made for a giggle while doin' whatever the fuck you did fer'a" you started to yell, tears streaming down your eyes though you get cut off by your father screaming at the top of his lungs."God damn it, you ARE human Katja! THAT WAS THE BLOODY POINT! " He thunders, shutting you up almost instantly. "JUST because your DNA was purposefully selected and cultivated instead of being randomly assembled and formed from an infinite combination of genetic hosts DOESN'T mean that you're some kind of freak, or something intrinsically evil or WHATEVER! You're YOU! You exist like everyone on this exists and no one knows the difference, because THERE ISN'T ANY!" "I don't even know who the FUCK you are anymore, Michael" you scream/sob, making a point by using your father's real name. "And I'm fuckin' DONE mate" you add as you turn and start to walk away from him, your father's pleading voice ringing in your ears as you close your eyes...
>>31965793>A. Keep walking; You have nothing left to say to your father right now...>B. Stop and listen to what he has to say; He IS the ghost of your father, after all.>C. Wake up, end the dream on 5/27 as Katja Hartkern and go work off any anger or stress you might feel in the gym.>D. Something Else... ("Write-in/Combine up to 2 Votes" Vote)>E. Pause the current "Dream Sequence" and Assume the role of...? ("Write-In" Vote to determine which character in this storyline to gain direct control of)
>>31965808 >B. Stop and listen to what he has to say; He IS the ghost of your father, after allKeep the crazy train goin'.
>>31965808>>B. Stop and listen to what he has to say; He IS the ghost of your father, after all.What.
>>31966215>>31966294>>31966795Sorry about that back-breakingly long delay Anons; Had some stuff come up that needed to be taken care of... However! Option B wins the vote and updates will arrive shortly!
>>31966215>>31966294>>31966795You feel yourself stop as hear your dad start to explain "Kat, look... I wanted kids, Maiya wanted kids, but I kept shootin' blanks... So I had to go above and beyond the", but cut him off after that."What's there more t'fuckin' say Michael? You lied to me, MADE me and like a hundred others in some damn lab in the far east or somethin' for what? 'Bettering mankind?' A paycheck? The chance to claim one'o'me for yourself and for Kadee?" you ask him, using your pet name for your mother, Maiya (Which, curiously, translates as "Mother" in certain dialects used by certain Australian Aboriginal Tribes). "What about your anthropology degree? Was that some lie then, like that bloody stupid "Golden Years" shit I just played through?" you ask some more, Michael's silence pressing you to keep pushing him into answering... Though a voice from beyond the fringes of the rapidly-distorting laboratory silences you and Michael just as he was about to retort something that would've made you get ALL kinds of angry at him. "For me... Your father is correct; It was all for me Katyin."Your eyes widen as you look around and spot your mother, Maiya Hartkern start to form from out of the edges of the void that now enveloped the whole area (The previous laboratory with all of those god-awful cylinders now gone). She walked towards you with a feline grace and looked like a spitting image of you, though with long, black hair hair and a slightly more "Womanly" (IE not as muscular or as "Built" as you are) build and face."Maiya... What're you doin' out 'ere?" your father asks as he greets her with a few caresses and kisses, looking like he really hadn't seen her in ages."Helping you take care of this mess" she teases, then turns to you and explains "But really, if there's anyone to blame in all of this madness Katyin, it should lay on my shoulders... Because I was the one who pressured your father into going to such lengths to have you & Kaiya."
>>31968524You shake your head at all of this, mouth agape (Partly from how STUNNING your mom looked when she was younger) and staring in disbelief at how your parents. the people you modeled yourself after and strode towards bettering in life somehow, some way... Associated themselves with the fucking NESTS whack-jobs that threatened the entire human race if what Seth, Vanessa & Ramon had told you could be taken at "Face Value"...Though you don't out-and-out say that they worked for NESTS or anything like that, instead asking your father "Y'must've worked for NESTS then?", looking down at the ever-expanding, inky darkness at your feet. After a long pause, Michael simply says "... Yes" with a forlorn sigh. "You wouldn't be alive it weren't for them dangling the carrot of your creation in front of my face, hiring me to begin their "Final Phase" and start creating their 'Perfect Army'..." "But if it makes you feel any better, my DNA and your father's especially live on through you" Maiya chips in."Yeah? Well ain't that somethin" you drolly reply."Yeah... And I AM a fully licensed anthropologist" Michael says, almost cheekily adding "But my main source of income came from screwin' 'round with genetics.""Is that how y'met mum?""Nah, at a party while I was on holiday the year after I left the tribe" Maiya clarifies, then turns to her hubby and asks "Wasn't my Aborigine DNA the key to getting the entire cloning and bodily modification program to work properly at the start of it though?""Yeah... There's somethin' in you and your mum 'ere that altered your DNA helixes to like a Quad instead of a Triple, so y'could say that" your father states, then says "And I never "Made" any others outside of you or Kaiya Kat; Mark my words that the last thing I wanted to see was my breakthroughs get used to ignite bloody World War Three...""What about my 'Sister'?" you ask, wondering what in the hell could've happened that lead you to block her from your memory...
>>31968832The silence and solemn looks on your mother and father's faces tell you more than you'd like to know, though Maiya offers up a quick summary "Well, she DID exist once, but she's gone now I'm afraid; Just like us..." "She was trained at a young age to become a relatively high-ranking officer at NESTS... I don't know what happened to her after that" Michael adds, what Andrew Draco cryptically told you a few nights ago adding up, along with a few gruesome flashes of what you had seen whenever the name "Katherine Hart" reached your ears..."So... I'm superhuman then?" you ask."Potentially... NESTS didn't think so, which is why they took on Kaiya instead of you" Michael says, adding "You'd need to work out a tremendous amount to trigger the growth gene that would get you that kind of strength though..."You hold your tongue at that, not wanting to say anything about you Kyokugenryuu training as Michael & Maiya walk towards you to try and give you one last hug and while a part of you REALLY wants to try and hug them back, something just doesn't feel right still, like it's a calm before an all-too-familiar storm...>A. Keep the dream alive by trying to hug your sadly deceased parents and see what happens.>B. Don't try to do anything physical with them, instead waving and telling them that you WILL start to live your life on your terms and by your own goals here and now...>C. Wake up & end the dream on 5/27 as Katja Hartkern and go work off any lingering fears and/or tension about what you just saw in your mind.>D. Wake up & end the dream on 5/27 as Katja Hartkern and simply lay back in bed a little bit to reflect on how almost everything you've experienced and/or were told in your dreams has (Somehow) been proven to be correct...>E. >>31978232>>31977726>>31977698>>31977898You take a look around this spacious place, noting the lack of other people around as well as the overall creepy vibe you're getting just standing where you are, the sounds of the various other machines seemingly distant, distorted and out of mind as the large screen of the game "Fatal Fight 2: Fight of Fate" flashes before you, a brief introduction featuring characters that look just like yourself, Fiona Grave's "Ultima" persona & Tsuyako Horikawa get shown, almost taunting you to try and see what's up with the game...You sigh, roll your eyes and shrug as you walk up to the front of the machine, noting that it has cup holders as you put in a few coins that you felt in the back pocket of your jeans, leading you to a "Character Select" screen that also features silhouettes of Andrew Draco, Kazunori Kazahaya, Jean-Claude Gabriel, Bizuki Iijima and a few other people you don't recognize (12 characters in total)... And while it was fairly tempting to see what would happen if you chose a different character, in the end you decided to pick "Yourself" (AKA "Katherine Hart"), though curiously enough, a second screen with text that reads "Type in Password!" up in the right-hand corner pops up.A part of you wants to try and type something in, just to see what would happen as you can feel as though you've seen this game before, or even played somewhere in time as people start to magically crowd around you.>A. >>31980342Yes, it is...>>31979802>>31980016Sorry about the delay Anons; had to get some lunch... Regardless, Option A takes this round of voting with updates pending.
>>31980016>>31979802You take a gander at the screen as you type in a certain 8-Digit password (Your old phone number from when you lived in Japan, of all things) and hear a chime to confirm that the code worked, the screen showing off a faded black "Stage Select" of-sorts and showcasing a large building in the center of the vaguely South Town-sized city map, no other options seemingly available to you...===>New Thread Theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYhtb7PlIKM===You feel slightly one-edge as you start to play through the game's (Supposed) "Final Stage", something in the back of your mind telling you that you very well could get transported into the game's world like that one dream from before at almost any moment, a sense of deja vu overwhelming you as you struggle to control your virtual avatar through the on-screen chaos (As you were never really into games like, or videogames as a whole, in fact)...However, you somehow manage to get to a "Checkpoint" as three other rando people join in to help you out, "Ultima" & "Tsunami" joining the fray as well as one of the "Secret" characters you didn't recognize ("Hypeman 2000", a rather odd-looking superhero that's accompanied by a small dog you' feel like you've seen before) as your charcters start to ascend the tower, beginning a time-honoured videogame tradition: "The Boss Rush".The first one (Some Tatooed Japanese guy that looked like a Yakuza-backed Sumo Wrestler called "Big Boss Honda") got beaten pretty easily (As his Odd, almost Kyokugenryuu-Inspired attacks were too slow to really hit any of you), though the next two weren't as easily beaten back: The virtual copy of Bizuki Iijima (Here simply called "Ushijima") was more annoying than legitimately challenging, though the "MIB Battle" between the virtual copies of Draco & Kazunori was MUCH tougher than that: Two of the other players "Rage-Quit" on you halfway through the battle and the guy controlling "Hypeman" got KO'ed by a lack of money...
>>31982338However, in something that seemed almost to be expected, the real-live Fiona Graves & Tsuyako Horikawa (As in THEM, not the characters on-screen) arrived and took over for the "Rage-Quitters", helping you JUST squeak by that last boss battle as the three of you reach the final floor of the building, grabbing any power-ups and health items along the way (With no Fourth Player to help out either, as a fight has broken out around you over who should get that chance to beat the game alongside all of you) you all guide you characters down the long, rather gaudy corridor towards the final boss's office...>A. Go "Beyond the game" and really control your character's "Destiny" (IE Get an "In-Universe" account of the final battle with "Not-Jean Gabriel", playing through the fight from a first-person perspective)>B. Keep playing through this game as you are right now, as this seems pleasant enough... Though you should stay on your toes just in case that fight over the 4th Player slot turns ugly and/or tries to involve you. (Roll 1d100 for Luck that it doesn't)>C. Keep playing through the game, but don't continue when you run out of lives, as the crowd behind you seems to be baying for blood waiting for a chance to play this game.>D. Hand the controls over to someone else and look around the Arcade for something else to play, because that last boss fight's got you ALL kinds of "Salty" right now...>E. Something Else... >>31982939Hey, Katja's luck significantly got better since her near-death experience at Lee's parlor. It's like the prospect of death shocked her karma and realigned it. >>31983317True. But we still keep running into little coincidences that, put together, become somewhat unsettling - it's just that at the moment, they're working in our favour.Yeah, I know, that's protagonist syndrome. But to a savvy person in universe, it looks worrisome. On which note, new half-assed conspiracy theory to explain it; the bullshit we got out of NEST-hood wasn't the electric ki.It was low-grade unconscious probability manipulation. When Katja was full of doubt, identity issues, self-loathing, and all the other psych problems she had, things kept piling up to bite us.But once she actually started feeling good, coming into her own, started to like who she was... like you said. Our luck really improved.Electroki was just a... lucky coincidence.>>31983738Speakin of luck, holyshitthatroll.
>>31983738I think it's more that since there are no more malus rolls to deal with and we're not rolling for every single thing, the game has become much more consistent and accessible, not to mention a little faster. >>31983843Yeah, even that theory is a stretch. Though it is proven true that the better you feel, the better you do. (i was never a fan of "Gimmick"-based powers like that, as Domino would be kind of an example on what Katja could've become if I HAD thought of using something like that.)Though the fact that she finally DOES feel good about herself helps a lot...
>>31984147>>31984307Fair enough.Like I said, it was a ridiculous, half-assed explanation concept. Wouldn't be half as fun to think up if it wasn't a stretch. On another topic... why do I keep forgetting we're part Russian?

Which honestly distracts you quite a bit, ending up costing one "Life" as you hear the crowd start to get a little agitated at you when you decide to keep playing, sticking with "Yourself" (Nee "Katherine Hart") as Tsuyako goes with Hypeman 2000 (The indecipherable scream followed by "VIDEOGAMES SON!" nearly blowing out your eardrums) as a fourth player FINALLY emerges from the winding-down fight and picks "Dr. Simmons" (A rather odd-looking knight in shining armor, a green cape... But then again you DID want to face your fears staring right back at you, those not quite green/yellow eyes starring right back at you as though she were trying to will you into doing something ridiculously perverted again...You close your eyes at that, your earpiece silent on the other end as Bizuki clears her throat after finishing a bite of her Smoked Salmon."Tell me, my dear, why exactly do you think that a woman shouldn't bear arms? ESPECIALLY in a town like this?" she asks, again preying on one your own fears just like she had during that session of... Well, it wasn't exactly love-making to you, but it's something that you'll probably never forget as you can hear your "Eyes in the Sky" start telling you what to say. >>31990947"I really disagree with that though... Not because I feel protecting yourself is wrong, but I feel firearms shouldn't be the first thing thought of when people go "Self Defense". But maybe that's just me, though I'll readily stand behind my opinion" you truthfully tell her after you open your eyes and seemingly stare into hers for a moment, willing yourself to be free from those psychic chains of oppression that "How so?" Bizuki simply asks in-turn, her spare words sounding like a warning that whatever your point should be, you should make it sooner rather than later (As all of those stage and theater classes you took REALLY paid off convincing her that she still had some semblance of control over you)."-W... Well, since I'm speaking from the point of view of someone who has done Aikido for a long time, I would feel safer if someone I cared about knew even blue belt Aikido stuff, rather than carried a gun with them" you start to explain. "Because to me, guns are not a part of you and can be used in fits of rage... Which some people, even normally reasonable people, all can have. AND they can be turned against you, the same with knives..."Bizuki smirks at that explanation, not saying anything as she pecks at her meal like a sparrow- No, wait, not a sparrow... More like a crow as you add "Over time, I found It's a bit harder to turn your own body against you, especially if someone knows, say, a throw that if used a certain way, could literally break the attacker's spine..." You pause after that, letting your words linger like a veiled threat (As you DO know a throw that could break someone's spine) before concluding "But then again, guns terrify me and you can't always have one on you. My body, on the other hand... I always have that on me, and I've learned to use it quite effectively to defend myself."

Though a well-coiffed arm lunges out of the shadows and grab's Bizuki's hand just as she was trying to slap you.You use her confusion at that grab to scoot away from the table as Bizuki starts wrestling with a rather attractive, youthful-looking blonde-haired man in a blue suit, the two of them knocking the table over as they start shouting at each other in a language you don't understand, a part of you wondering why the hell didn't you meet anyone like HIM back when you went through your last "Guys" phase while you walk out of the restaurant."What's the status chief?" you ask in a voice so low no one minds you any harm and or trouble."I think we've been set-up Rookie; Try to look around for Vanessa & Ramon, tell them to get the HELL out there ASAP and meet us back at the safe house" Seth orders before shutting off your contact, not even giving you a chance to reply "Roger that sir" as you look around, a HUGE guy in a suit that's briskly walking past you and heading towards that increasingly violent "Dust-up" you walked away from.>A. "A Code 6 GTFO direct from Father Time" you reply (Trying not crack up at Seth's codename for this mission), then lead them out of the back through the kitchen and past a food server carrying what looks like the desert that Bizuki ordered for you (Strawberry Cheesecake Bars, not that you'd need something like that in you right now or anything)..."What's the deal though? Our communicators got fucked up like half an hour ago" Ramon asks as the three of you casually walk out the back of the building, near a loading dock and look around for the "Taxi" (Short-hand for "Undercover Car") that should take you to the appointed safehouse Seth had mentioned. "Maybe he bugged out and figured that Bizuki was trying to put one over on us?" you speculate, adding"Though I can't see why; She wasn't the same sociopath I dealt with before tonight..."Vanessa nods, holding her tongue at making a witty comment at your expense as you spot a familiar-looking phone number emblazoned on the side of a genuine "Checkered Cab" taxi out in the parking lot nearby, the three of you breathing sighs of relief.
Also forgot to add that I lost my internet connection for a few minutes there Anons; Sorry for the delays.>>32000591You hop into the back seat of the Taxi after knocking on the roof of it and hearing the doors all unlock, wedging yourself in between Vanessa & Ramon as the driver up front nods and pulls out and into traffic... Though for some odd reason, you can feel a cold sweat breaking out across your body, something VERY wrong with you right now as you seemingly start to hallucinate your chest expanding, bursting free of you dress and filling up the backseat of the taxi all by itself (Bizuki's work no doubt, as you always had a complex about trying to cover and hide your undeniably feminine form to keep your uptight "SJW INCARNATE" mother happy)...Though thankfully, Vanessa picks up on your psychic distress and asks "Hey, you alright?", snapping you out of that fevered vision. You lean back in the seat as much as you can and close your eyes, feeling like you have a headache as you tell her "I guess so...", then feel an oddly warm hand on your shoulder."You put yourself through hell to get through tonight, didn't you?" she asks, mindful not to try and bring up all of the kinds of wild rumors going around the offices back at the agency as to what Bizuki Iijima had actually, physically done to you and Security Officer Patty (Who's STILL M.I.A. right now, not that you honestly ever cared for her).>A. Don't say anything and just try to calm down and possibly sleep this whole thing off before you arrive at the safehouse.>B. Be truthful and say "Yes", then hope that she drops the subject.>C. Elaborate on what you felt tonight with Vanessa & Ramon and hope that they don't get squeamish on you when you try to clarify a few of the racier details...>D. Something Else... ("Write-In" Vote)>E. Resume control of Katja Hartkern's psyche and resume her "Dream Sequence" (This vote can be combined with any of the above choices if so desired)
>>32000866 >A. Don't say anything and just try to calm down and possibly sleep this whole thing off before you arrive at the safehouse.&>E. Resume control of Katja Hartkern's psyche and resume her "Dream Sequence" (This vote can be combined with any of the above choices if so desired)
>>32000866>>32001600Go with this
>>32001600>>32001928>>32002221You open your eyes and take a long look at Vanessa, the look on your face hopefully giving her an idea on what you're feeling right now as the car your riding in slows to a crawl, traffic oddly flaring up despite the somewhat late hour.Vanessa's eyes widen as she blushes slightly, her imagination running wild as Ramon says "We're gonna get that bitch for ya', don't worry", sounding more like he's reassuring himself than trying to cheer you up."Thanks" you quietly reply, hopefully dropping the subject as three of you ride the rest of the way to the designated safehouse in an awkward silence, rest your eyes until you arrive there about an hour and a half after the three of you had left the restaurant (Traffic slowing your commute down considerably).=+=+=>You now resume control of Katja Hartkern's psycheYou look out into the void sweeping out in front of you, the inky black vastness curiously reminding you of space as you hear an odd, unfamiliar voice start to talk to you."Welcome, player... Welcome to the end. It's been a long, tough road, hasn't it? Always looking for that next challenge, for the toughest fighter, for that one epic battle to end all battles... I think you'll be happy enough to know that you've finally found it; You've finally found an enemy worthy of your skills. But I'm afraid this is one fight you'll never be able to win... Because it's already over. It was over the moment you let yourself get sucked into our world, into our little scenario featuring Smile Inc's characters and places... Developed by Crapcom Games programmers."You bristle at that for some reason as the as the world around you takes some semblance of a shape and the voice continues to speak. "Fighter's like Kyo Kusanagi, Iori Yagami, Terry Bogard & Ryo Sakazaki... They may belong to the world of South Town. But they're no longer there; They are in a world of Air Cancels, of Combo Chains and Ground Sweeps. They are in OUR world now."
>>32003144You find yourself standing in a large, featureless room, an odd, grid-like pattern in a bright neon color wrapping around the dark walls and floors, disguising how large it really is as that voice rings clearly into your mind. "And they have brought thousands of players from around the world with them, impregnating them with all these features... All these pieces of our world. Our culture. And so, the world keeps... Getting smaller.""But I guess that's not enough, no, not for someone like you. It would be... A bit of an Anti-Climax, yes? So let me offer you one final fight, you Vs. me. And as I can see that you refused to pick out any of your own characters, so allow me to pick... Mine."At that moment, strings of ones and zeroes part through the air, a cheesy-looking "Senai" team of seven people materialized out of the streaming data before everything stabilizes again, each of them looking a bit familiar to you despite of their odd, color-coded get-ups."Good luck...Good luck.. hehe... hehehehe... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"That shrill laugh rings into your ears as you see a ghostly flicker of a face you've seen somewhere before disappear along the "Ludicrous Seven" (As the handy title-screen above them stated) dispersed into vertically-streaming ones and zeros, the layout of the land changing dramatically as you closed you eyes, mentally preparing yourself for the life-or-death struggle ahead of you...However, just as you were about to charge into the fray with the commitment of a Kamikaze Pilot, a gloved hand tapped you on the shoulder and started giving you some words of advice, his voice sounding awfully like Jean-Claude Gabriel's."Ma'am, before you proceed keep in mind that this is a bad situation. In my personal view, this is a "Badder than Bad" situation! I mean, they say it's worse to have had and lost, than never to have had at all, but in the end, it's still bad either way" he quickly says, sounding a bit like he had too much caffeine.
>>32003356"And what the bloody fuck does THAT have to do with anything?" you crossly ask, your eyes still closed as you can feel a cold, almost bitter wind whip across your face, almost as if you were on some high mountain-top or steppe or something."My sincerest of apologies..." "Not-Jean" says, pondering aloud "Um, maybe you could try sending the makers a message? 'Dear SNK-Playmore: Fatal Fight 2 rules. Make us Fatal Fight 2 fans happy. Thank you'?" He pauses for a fraction of a second, then says "It shouldn't be too hard with how technology is these days: Forums, E-Mail, blogs... Talking to people is easier than it has ever been. The only people who are truly out of your reach are the dead, and even that line is starting to get blurry, what with what Shitter and a few other sites are doing now-""ENOUGH!" you yell, your voice now taking a turn to sound like a pissed-off goddess as you added to the point through silence as a dark energy started to be felt around you..."And you know, while hundreds of people walk it, balancing on that tight-rope between both worlds...I guess you could say that my job is to give them a little push in the right direction" "Not-Jean" says as you slowly bring your guard up, expecting something very bad to happen to you indeed as he adds "Yeah, sometimes that's all it takes. One little push...">A. Turn around and Ryuuko Ranbuu this fucking little shithead before he does something stupid (Roll 4d100 for Speed, Evasion, Attack Damage & Luck that you can actually hit him)>B. Keep calm and try to counter whatever the fuck this prick wants to do by chucking him with a Tani-Otoshi (Roll 4d100 for Speed, Attack Damage & Luck that you can actually throw whoever this guy is)>C. >>32003838>>32003845Looks like a TIE... Vote to Break? Or Combine?>Pic Unrelated: Draco with short hair and without his beard.
>>32004317There seems to be a general "keep cool" sentiment while the guy rambles himself to death. Just be on the lookout.
>>32004569>>32003845>>32003838You tense up a little as the guy behind you stops rambling on and on, the wind picking up as you feel uneasy all of a sudden... Which is when you take a breath and oddly tell him "I can push myself off, thank you very much", then turn around and try to hit him with a Ryuuko Ranbuu, though he easily dodges it and punches you in the gut, stopping your advance dead in it's tracks and feeling like the back of your jacket got a fist-sized hole blasted through it."In the name of The Paragon, I cast thee to the depths" he says after flashing you an eerie grin, swiftly socking you in the jaw as you fly over the edge into the ever-growing abyss behind you as "Not-Jean" did a hand gesture that created a a silhouette of a sword across his chest. You scramble to try and find something to hold onto, or break your fall with as you keep the sensation of falling for what feels like an eon or two, eventually righting yourself to fall feet-first in case you land onto something solid... Except you don't; You simply freeze into place and all of your momentum vanishes as your feet touch solid ground. You take a moment to clear your head and regain your senses, then take a look around to see yourself standing in the middle of a deserted street, brick buildings and a few glowing neon signs in some kind of Asian language you don't recognize on some of them (Korean? Cantonese? Either way, you can't read them) as you hear six different people yell:>"The Champion of the Undefeated of the West!">"The Knights of the Armani!">"Tenshin!">"Keiretsu!">"Tenpa KYORAN!">"Look, the heroes have arrived!"As the frankly stupid-looking "Sentai" team from before materialize in front of you (Complete with a ridiculous-sounding humming noise that feels like it belongs from some old radio serial)."Though you are showing supreme courage in challenging us alone, we shall not fall to the likes of yo!!" the guy in Black shouts, pointing a finger at you...
>>32005633You stare them down a little longer, stretching your neck out as you ponder if it's a good idea to take these bastards on one at a time, in groups of three or all at once... Or even somehow try to convince them that you're such a small-fry on the general scale of power that fighting you here and now wouldn't help anyone, or solve anything...You keep stretching a little longer, not saying anything as the Red Guy asks "What's the deal yo'? You fightin' us or what?" as you finish up your "Warm-Up" Stretching Routine.>A. Make your case to fight each member one at a time (Roll 1d100 for the power of Persuasion)>B. Ask them if you wouldn't mind fighting you in groups of three, the "Leader" in Red being saved for last and using some schlokk about "Honor" and "Respect" to convince them to go along with it (Roll 1d100 for the power of Persuasion)>C. Try to activate "Shōmei-ō Katja" and got to TOWN on these fuckheads (Roll 2d100 for a Perception Check & Luck that you can activate it)>D. Sorry for the delay Anons; I got sidetracked getting my /ck/ on.>>32005948>>32007087You eye them all and simply say "Well... Not really; I do't have any real intention in fightin' any of ya", pausing at how odd those words sounding coming from your mouth."Oi Oi, the hell are YOU on? We're here to kick ass and take names, not sit around and drink tea" you hear the Orange-suited woman off to the right ask you, sounding like an odd mixture of Tsuyako & Hatsune Horikawa."Yeah... But be honest: You're all supposed t'be champions of justice, ain'tcha? And it wouldn't really be considered 'Justice' to gang up and destroy a nobody like me, yeah?" you ask, hoping that your logic would sway them a little from attacking you (Or at least not all of them at the same time).Slowly, the other members of the so-called "Knights of Armani" turn to each other and get into an American Football-style huddle as you ponder whether or not this was an actual course of action, as if the universe you were in actually had to pause and think "Oh, right, there CAN be non-violent solutions to problems like this" and had to stop and catch up...You shrug and start to go into your "Advanced" stretching routine, getting about a quarter of the way through it when the "Knights" break from their huddle and face you."You make strong points, no question about that... But you STILL have to pay for the death of Armani Cyan!" the "Knight" in black states, again pointing your finger at you."If I did kill him... Then there's no way I can just say that I'm sorry or somethin', huh?" you reply, continuing your routine as if it were as normal to you as breathing the air around you."Evil or not, prepare to face the wrath of the Knights of Armani in an 8-on-1 SLOBBERKNOCKER!!" The guy in Black yells as the others assume vaguely-familiar combat stances while some cheesy-as-hell-sounding battle musichttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWJeZAL27ho starts to play...
>>32008126You tighten up your gloves and assume your normal stance as well, though a part of you isn't actually expecting to fight any of them... Though you almost cheer when you hear Yuri Sakazaki yell "Who said that she's doing this alone?" You turn around to see her, King, Tsuyako & Hatsune Horikawa, Fiona Graves, Mai Shiranui,... Hell, just about every person you consider a friend standing behind you (Including the likes of Avery, Shermie, Yashiro and Bobby Wilson among others), easily out-numbering the "Knights" as they walk towards and then stand beside you, staring down the "Knights of Armani"."W-What are you doing!? ATTACK!" the guy in Black yells before recklessly charging towards you, though you casually side-step his attack and gleefully watch as he gets DESTROYED by a combination of Fiona's Shoulder-Tackle, Tsuyako's "Overhand Elbow-to-Armbar", King's Trap Shot and Ryo Sakazaki's "Ha'oh Shou Gouken" blasting him back over to the other "Knights", who are visibly shaken at their "Leader" getting thrashed like that."Holy FUCK dude" you hear one of them (In a slightly brown/red color) say as the others on your side chase after them, though you hug Yuri, spin her around and ask "Where you'been Sunshine?!""Out looking for you" she replies, then tells you "And leave this one to us Okay? The guy you're looking for is out near the hills off to the East", looking off into the distance as you can hear a guy that sounds like "Dr. Simmons" yell "I'mma kick this chick 'till she bleeds METAL!" while "Hypeman" 2000 concurs "JAYSUS CHRAHST, SHE'S SO TINY!">A. Nod, give her a hug and make your way out to the hills in the East...>B. Tell her that you will in asecond; Right now, you want to pound some fucker's helmet in! >>32008728>A.I was strongly tempted to have Kayta kiss Yuri, but then I remembered that she doesn't think of her "Like that".
>>32008961>>32009317You nod at that and give Yuri along, curiously tender hug as all kinds of chaos rages all around the two of you, that "Hypeman" guy yelling "OH JAYSUS GAAWD!" as he seemingly flies over the top of both of you, then you give Yuri the slightest of kisses on her forehead and head into the eye of the storm of bodies punching, kicking, defending and firing everything from sci-fi-worthy "Lasers" to the "Usual" Ko'ou ken's and other projectiles. However, you dodge almost all of them as you yell "Oi! Fiona! You got those car-keys on 'ya!?" "Yeah, but you're not gonna get'em!" she replies, then, does her "Game Of Death" SDM to some poor, unsuspecting "Knight" in Green."Ah c'mon mate!? What's the worse that could 'appen?!" you reply, again dodging a few errant punches and kicks as you try to get out of Shen Woo's way as he nearly breaks the helmet of a lavender-wearing "Knight"."Fuck it, take my 'bike!!!" you hear Hatsune yell as she grapples with her near-doppelganger in Orange, losing out after getting a kick to the stomach but getting the upper hand in the end with an intricate-looking submission hold. You slowly make your way through the carnage, throwing out a few Ha'oh Raijinkens and a couple of Hien Shippu Kyakus to keep a few of the Knights off of your back as more than just the first seven start to arrive, a few of them not-quite complete and parts of their uniforms/bodies covered in tightly-sequenced One's & Zeroes as you get the key-ring from Hatsune."Ride her steady for me, 'kay?" she strains to ask, really trying to get her opponent to "Tap-Out" as you nod and quietly make your way out of the ever-expanding battle and look around for that older, sport-bike looking machine you saw her ride that one time... An instead find a "Clean" version of "Blue Mary" Ryan's custom "V-Rod" cruiser parked next to the Humvee Convertible you remember riding in with "Ultima" & "Tsunami Tsuyako"...
>>32010017You hop onto the bike and kick-start it into life, though not with some difficulty or surprise as you can here music coming from a radio installed onto this beast of a machine, the name "Vincent Black Shadow" embossed on the side of the fuel tanks as Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" starts to play for whatever reason (Which is odd, as you were more of a fan of bands like AC/DC) as you motor through the bustling city, weaving in and out of traffic as best as you can on this leviathan of a motorcycle, nearly losing control a couple of times as it definitely feels like it's suspension is set up for a physically heavier rider (Which makes you what Hatsune's true weight could be, as you're certain that she's not as heavy as you are)... Either way, there's something to be said about blasting down some long, endless stretch of highway with the guitar solo from Bohemian Rhapsody blasting up into your face from the radio, though the late evening starts to fade and nightfall descends upon your fairly quickly as you pull over to a rest-stop in the shadow of a hiking trail, what looks like Andrew Draco's Norton F1 parked near where you manage to stop this beast of a bike. You up off and look around, seeing the "Black Death" machine as Norton Rotaries are nicknamed and go over to quickly inspect it under the dim light of an overhead lamppost. After confirming it IS his 'bike, you grab a soda from a nearby vending machine, oddly feeling like your vitality get restored as you look for a hiking trail to follow, eventually finding one that's clearly marked as you start to walk on it, the oddly-bright night of the waning day guiding you along the trail. It steers you up and around a few rolling hills as you feel like the rest-stop was miles behind you despite the fact that it wasn't when you happen upon a large valley below your vantage point, a field of daffodils stretching out over the horizon and an odd-looking castle and a Joshua Tree out into the distance as well,..
>>32010586Though what catches your eye most of all is the sight of what looks like a tall man in a billowing black overcoat standing over someone else as an odd guitar sound starts to play as you walk towards him, your eyes widening and your heart racing as you start to realize just who exactly is down at his feet... You stop about a few steps away from him, the smell of fresh blood and electric ozone in the air as you can see, well, you. Or rather, "Katherine Hart" AKA "Kaiya" lifelessly laying on her back in front of who you assume to be Draco, her body covered in blood and her pupil-less eyes staring back at you.You feel a lump in your throat and your heart feel like it's turning to stone as you take a long, hard look at a woman's who's entire visage is uncannily close to yours, a part of you wanting to cry at the sight of her still-fresh corpse... Yet at the same time, you do't want to just announce yourself to the possible culprit of such a heinous crime.>A. Stay where you are and don't make a sound; You don't want to alert this psychotic to your presence (Roll 1d100 for Stealth)>B. Slowly walk up to him and land a "Sucker-Punch" Fuujin to Raijin no Tenshouken DM as payback for what you're pretty sure he just did (Roll 4d100 for Stealth, Speed, [Possible]Evasion & Attack Damage)>C. Tell whoever this guy is what's on your mind before you fight him. (Write-In Dialogue encouraged with this vote)>D. Something Else... ("Write-In" Vote)>E. End the Dream on 5/27 and "Wake-Up" as Katja Hartkern, taking some time to reflect on your dreams and how eerily close they can seem to be to whatever's going on in your life a the time...
>>32011091>C. Tell whoever this guy is what's on your mind before you fight him."I never knew my sister. I scarcely knew my mother. I didn't know enough about my father. I scarcely knew my mother before disease got her. I didn't know enough about my father... Now I'm not even sure I know myself anymore. Nearly everything I've known feels like it's just either a lie or shrouded in mystery" you take a long pause at that, what feels like storm clouds starting to form overhead as an electricity could be felt in the air."But I know who I am now. I know what I've become... I know what I'm looking at. I know who she is, who she's supposed to be. Who she should've been, to me." Another pause, this time to keep yourself from letting your odd mixture of rage & sorrow overwhelm your voice. "I know that if I knew her better, I'd have loved her like anyone else in my family." You let those last words linger a little, mentally preparing yourself to jump into action after you conclude this monologue. "And I most definitely know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I will destroy the dingo-fucking cocksucker who did this... And I got a sneaking suspicion I know who that is."You hear him chuckle at your threat, then seemingly choke up as you can see specks of blood on his hands now as the clouds overhead start to part, the light of the full moon illuminating everything in a slightly "Dead", but spare light. "Strong words... Honest words. I like that" he says with a nod, not looking at you and with an odd, almost comic timing to them that feels like a mistake made by some cosmic translation team or something. "But you know, as much as I hate to say it, I don't have any regrets about this one; Not after what she did to me... Not after she took my heart and two other's, ripped them out of their rib-cages, skewered them with her high-heeled shoes and LAUGHED about it afterward" he solemnly states.

The sensation of killing... The doom and darkness... The dark streets I worked oh-so hard to rid myself of..."He slowly turns to face, almost agonizingly so considering how fast the clouds seem to be moving in comparison as he yells "They're CALLING me. Though you stall for a second when you ask him "What's your name?", mentally preparing yourself for a real-live "Fight to the death" that you've only heard about until now.The man in front of you pauses, his eyes having a slightly mischievous look to them that's balanced out by the downright malicious grin that's plastered onto his face. However, he seems to recover from it quicker than you can even respond, landing two high-hitting kicks that look suspiciously like the first two hits of Robert Garcia's "Kyokugen Ryuuren Mai Kyaku", stunning you long enough to land a stiff forearm smash to your face. You get knocked back a bit, but recover fairly quickly with a Ukemi and then get confronted by a large, ground-skimming projectile (The "Asura Reppuken") and "Roll" past it, figuring that it would be too large to jump over... Only to get grabbed by Mr. X, cursing yourself for falling into suh a predictable gambit. However, you break free of his throw attempt with a "Blow-Back Attack" that rockets him away from you, creating some breathing room between the two of you (And looking like you REALLY damaged him by it, which is kind of odd when you consider how such an attack normally would only be used as a "Get OFF ME"-kind of technique) as you rush towards him yet again, blind rage and fury behind you attacks (But only as a front to hide your true, inner calm behind your strikes). You quickly catch him out as he gets up with a "Strong" Ha'oh Raijinken, stunning him long enough to rush past him with a "Raijin Lightning Sprint" and punch him in his back with your "Raijin Rush" follow-up attack, knocking him back and away from you yet again... Though he does a "Ukemi" of his own and runs towards you, his shoulder leading him on and his arms curiously crossed near his chest.

>>32019020>>32019154OK, Option C wins the Poll and the updates are on the way.
>>32019020>>32019154You hold up your hands to try and guard Mr. X's strike, though the third breaks through your guard completely with a blast of pure Ki from his open palm. Thankfully, you don't get blast back by it and he seems somewhat winded after that last hit, almost as if it were his "Super Desperation Move" or something as you clobber him with a quick Hien Shippu Kyaku, then follow it up with a "Short" Kohou. Both attacks connect, though yet again he seems to recover faster from getting hit than you can from landing a hit and grabs you in mid-air, throwing you down to the ground HARD. You strain to get up quickly as you could, only to be greeted by another one of those "Asura Reppuken's", blocking the attack cleanly as Mr. X starts to rush you down, using the curiously long reach his kicks seem to have to start putting pressure on you. However, you roll past the second barrage of kicks and chuck him with a Tani-Otoshi throw, then wait for him to respond to it instead of mindlessly running after him... And sure enough, Mr. X gets up and runs towards you again, that mad glint in his eye still shining brightly as you deftly evade Jump-in Kick with another Raijin Sprint, then lock him in a headlock as he tries to turn around, landing a few wild shots to his stomach with your knees before landing an uppercut to his chin.Sorry to say this Anons, but I have to commute quicker than I had expected; The second half of this post (With the branching pathways included!) will arrive ASAP. Please wait warmly until then.
>>32019996You hop back as Mr. X decides to stay on the ground for a moment, probably trying to trick you into recklessly charging in and taking advantage of his "Wake-Up" period... Though You're glad that you stayed back as Mr. X gets up with an odd, almost break-dance-like kick that WOULD'VE hit you had you tried to get some of your "Okizeme"-Game going. As it stands, you throw out another Ha'oh Raijinken, though it doesn't seem to knock him back at all as he stomps the ground, creating a ring of purple/blue flame around you before hitting you with a "One-Inch Punch"-like attack as he knocks you away from him, your stomach starting to ache and feel as though it were burning slightly as you roll along the grassy hill, that Joshua Tree getting farther and farther away from you...=+=+=>Your Health: 77%>Mr. X's Health: ???>Your Ki: MAX, 3 Bars of Ki>Mr. X's Ki: 0% ("Powered Up" & Activated a DM)=+=+=>A. And then see REAL memories of your time at the Kyokugen Dojo and four years worth of fights with Yuri Sakazaki at the Kyokugen Dojo enter and play through your mind in glorious, full color. You mentally cringe a little as you watch yourself get beat up more often than not, Mr. X's voice starting to say something in the far-off distance of your mind... And curiously, you don't really pay any attention to him but keep tabs on his unique energy signature all of the same. It's one hell of a nostalgia trip for you as you can see and chart your growth as a fighter in real-time, then open your eyes and feel a pang of regret as it seems like you surely missed an opportunity to deal some damage and/or finish Mr. X off completely... Though you use the "Raijin Sprint" to dodge his Leaping Spin-Kick, then land a volley of punches onto his back that feel and look like Ryo Sakazaki's "Zansetsuken" rather than the boxing-style punches you usually use for your "Raijin Rush", knocking him back and away from you as you slowly back away from him once again, the shadow of that Joshua Tree looming larger behind you...

You hop back and land a standing hard kick to the back of his head, though he shrugs it off like it were nothing more than a smack to the face as he actually hits you with that "Straight Left Punch/Shin Kick/Forearm Smash/Backhand-Blow" combination, THEN launches into that attack he had been trying to land on you the whole fight: A three hit series of palm thrusts, though instead of stopping there Mr. X grabs and slams you into the soft earth.Whether by dumb luck, swift thinking and/or the fact that the ground was slightly sloping downhill, you manage to use the momentum of getting thrown to avoid his Gloriously -Golden "Raising Storm" follow-up attack (The "Storm" being a "Claw" Type that reaches out in front of him as well, further solidifying just how "Lucky" you are) as you tumble down the hill, your body coming to a rest at the base of it as you land on your back. You look up at the star-lit sky, your body feeling like it's at it's limit as "Shōmei-ō Katja Mode" ends and your heartbeat FINALLY slows down... Oddly enough, your half-baked idea on the nature of Mr. X's power seems to be working; You can feel his energy dissapate ever-faster as you get through your "Warm-Up" stretches and feel a little bit better as you start to focus on all of the little things around you... Like "Why s there a Joshua Tree smack-dab in the middle of a field of flowers like this?", "What's with the castle off in the distance? 'Specially since there's that normal-lookin' rest-stop along the way..." and most importantly of all "What time is it?" as you look up into the starry night sky, the full moon starting to wane a little bit and the usual inky darkness of the night softening ever-so-slightly.You take a few deep breaths before you start to walk up the hill towards where "Katherine" & Mr. X now lay, X coughing up blood as it seems as though he was betting on that last attack to do the job and kill you... Though he seemingly perks up a little as he opens a bloodshot eye (Now back it's former shade of brown) and mumbles "C'mon, kill me like a warrior already...""Sorry mate. The Outback may be a killer, but I'm not" you tell him, feeling surprisingly proud at those words as he recoils upon hearing them, flopping over onto his stomach as he tries to push himself up off the ground, his arms shaking."Y-Y.... You BITCH!" he says with a sneer, obviously trying to get a reaction from you and cementing the idea that he NEEDS negative energy/feelings of hatred/whatever-the-fuck you don't have right now to keep using his current form."Ah C'mon, y'could do better'n'that though, right?" you coldly tease him, not wanting to give Mr. X any kind of ammunition to use to mount a miraculous recovery or something...
>>32032929=+=+=>New Thread Theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TO4ejwSzus=+=+=But, to your relief, he doesn't and lays back down on the ground, blood trickling from his mouth as well as cuts and bruises you hadn't noticed before starting to open up. "You know... It shouldn't ended like this" he coughs out in a low voice. "Pride... Is the worst thing in the world to have though... It makes you do stupid things like this."You don't say anything at that, stewing on the inside at what he could be saying might be a ploy to regain something to keep himself alive a little bit longer... Though what he says next gives you a little bit of food for thought.."In the end, I was... Destined for this. ... My father let pride kill him and drove my uncle to insanity, my father's let it cloud his judgement and he got killed... And now I'm gonna die from letting my pride get the better of me too" Mr. X wheezes as you wonder when this guy's gonna kick the bucket, because"One thing before you go on me mate" you start to say, then squat down in front of him and ask "What exactly did my sister over there DO to you?"Mr. X pauses for a long time, his breathing labored a little bit as you try to not snap him back awake (Again using your theory that "Violence breeds Violence" and that you DON'T want to give Mr. X a second lease on life)... Though when he does finally croak up, it's something you hadn't expected."She... She cheated on me. Twice. Once with... With a woman, which I supported her through as a friend" Mr. X starts to explain, then pauses to go on another coughing fit before concluding "... Then she cheated on me... With another man, after we got back together."You take a long pause, then tell him "Fair'nough... Still ain't righ t'kill her over it" and get an odd feeling of surprise when Mr. X's last words are "I know" before you feel that same "Tingly" sensation you had when your mother passed on, his eyes closing with a contented sigh.
>>32033176You take a long look around you, half-expecting the fabric of your existence to just pop out of whatever this world you're in... But nothing happens; You simply get up, look around and see two dead bodies lying on the ground, not quite far enough away from each other to suggest that they fought it out to the death or something like that, but at the same time the impact of what they represent isn't lost on you... Then wonder what the hell THAT could mean, because you don't even really feel anything, that old self of yours from when you were in denial about all of your glaring issues popping back up... That's when you let out a long sigh, shaking your head before looking around to find a shovel and figure that there was only one "Proper" thing to do right now: Bury the bodies out of respect for the departed lying at your feet. You start with Mr. X's at first, as you honestly don't feel any tug of emotional regret or sorrow at his passing (Which feels odd, as he WAS the young man that you had laid out on a grassy mountainside with on a night like this in a previous dream)... Though the waterworks start to flow when you look down at your "Sister", a brief thought that she might be one of the myriad of clones that NESTS made before you shake that off and bury her under the shade of the Joshua Tree, taking off the Red-Leather Jacket and odd, printed T-Shirt you had on to give your arms and shoulders more room to work with. Thanks to fortunate timing, you were standing around and leaning in your shovel as the night sky started to fade into the predawn, feeling sweaty, tired and sore as all hell after going through that fight and subsequent exercise when you hear a peppy, oddly catchy electronic track start to get piped inhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSICiIAKxIk as you hear Yuri Sakazaki scream 'KATIE!" at the top of her lungs. You break out into a small, genuine smile as you turn around and pick her up into your arms giving her a hug.
>>32033418"Goddamn Oz, you went through the wringer huh?" you hear Fiona Graves ask as you keep hugging Yuri tightly in your arms, the sun slowly starting to rise as your eyes fill with light... And find yourself getting applauded at the arcade, still covered in the blood and dirt your clothes had picked up from the fight and still finding Yuri in your arms, though you open your eyes and see King & "The New Gorgeous Team" in the crowd around you."You wouldn't know mate, ya' just wouldn't know" you tell Fiona with a weary sigh, then break away from Yuri for a second as she gives you the sign that you're smothering her."You wanna talk about it Katyin?" she asks, that name your mom had popping up in your mind and sounding just plain WEIRD hearing Yuri say it.You take a long pause as you look around, a part of you slightly freaked out that the crowd (On second glance) is yet again everyone you've ever considered a friend, including the ones you've met fight club-hopping in South Town for the last three months as well as the arcade machine that sucked you in flashing the first three letters of your name as it's "New High Score!"... Then shake your head and tell her "Naw, maybe another time; Let's just get out o'here Sunshine."Yuri nods as King asks "Buy a round of drinks?" as you and the others follow her out of the arcade, excitedly replying with a "Hell the FUCK YES!" as you blindly follow her through the door leading out to the sidewalk, the light from the sun so bright you could swear that it looked like it was being shined on to you by some outside force...Which is when you FINALLY wake up in your bed at "The Imperial Hotel" in South Town USA, that crazy Italian DJ playing disco music from when you first settled in wrapping up his show as you lay back and ponder "WHY THE FUCK do my dreams go on forever like that?"... Then wonder what you could get for breakfast, or indeed what time it is, as it just doesn't feel like your usual 8 AM alarm to you today.
>>32033596>A. Just lay in bed for a little while longer and reflect on what you saw in your dreams.>B. Get up, do some light stretches and take a shower; You want to prove to yourself that you don't have any dirt, blood or grime all over your body... And maybe go shopping later in the day for a red leather jacket, because it looked decent on you for a change.>C. Get up, do your regular stresses and go work out whatever you're feeling Robert's gym, though you're not quite sure what you should focus on today...>D. Assume the role of...? ("Write-In" Vote to determine which character in this storyline to gain direct control of)>E. Something Else... ("Write-in/Combine up to 2 Votes" Vote) =+=+=>Pause UpdatesOK, it's late where I'm at so I'll make this quick: I don't quite know when updates can continue for Round 29 tomorrow, though I'm hoping for around 12:30 PST / 3:30 EST and will check in at 9 AM PST/Noon to announce when updates will OFFICIALLY resume. That said, the voting's still open, a new thread will get made sometime next week (Check my Twitter Feed & The Quest Thread Generals for announcements) if the current one 404's, Thanks y'all for going so late into the night may good rest be brought to all of y'all on /tg/!
>>32033678A. Some navel gazing should help.
>>32034996>>32037645Apologies for the delay Anons; A few things came up that required my utmost attention this morning. Thankfully, Updates will begin shortly with Option A taking the vote.>Pic Unrelated
>>32037645>>32034996>Days until the start of "The King of Fighters: Infinite Match": 5>Days until your fight with "The Soul of the Streets Team": 5>Date: Friday, May 27th>Updates officially Resume>You now assume direct control of Katja HartkernYou lay in bed for what feels like a long while, shutting off the radio before you do as the music had changed to some snark-filled talk sow about local politics (That you don't have any interest in), reflecting on what you've "Seen" and felt in that last dream. What's most interesting to you aside from all of that exposition about yourself and your past was how REAL it all felt, as if in some alternate universe or timeline or whatever that WAS what you were doing, or did to "Mr. X" (Who you figure was supposed to be Andrew Draco, judging by his voice)...Still, even with thoughts of parallel universes and physics springing up in your head, the most glaring facet of your dream was how, in some twisted way, it all made sense. Your origins and where you came from were fairly secret, though you DID live with your mum'n'dad until Maiya passed on when you were 12 Years old... THAT was "Real" to you. But at the same time, what else was "Real" in your mind? DID you actually experience your life on your own terms and in real-time, or were you just created at the biological age of 19 and put on a path of self-bettering through Martial Arts as a way to make up for "Lost Time"? ... In short: "Was I always meant to be the person I am now? Was it all just widow-dressin' to get me off my arse and fulfill some sorta mission'er'whatever, even when I didn't have one t'complete?"It's all very unsettling to you, especially since you never one for "Too Deep For You" thoughts like this and ESPECIALLY not before your usual "Get-Up'n'Go" hour (Which passes by without any complains, the clock on the radio reading 8:12 AM when you casually glance at it)... Maybe some food, or exercise could snap you out of your current psychic funk?
>>32038476>A. Get up, go through your stretching routine right now and work out whatever you're feeling Robert's gym, though you're not quite sure what you should focus on today. ("Write-In" Suggestions are welcome with this vote)>B. Get up, do some light stretches and take a shower before you decide what you want to do today, because you STILL have a nagging feeling that you're covered in the blood, dust and sweat from your dream...>C. Lay in bed some more and ponder the philosophical ramifications behind your dreams, ESPECIALLY that last doozy of one you had gone through.>D. Get up and get some food in you; All of this psychological thought is probably just a sign that you're hungry...>E. Something Else... ("Write-in" Vote)

>>32038577 >B. Get up, do some light stretches and take a shower before you decide what you want to do today, because you STILL have a nagging feeling that you're covered in the blood, dust and sweat from your dream...Seriously thpugh, you need to chillax a little Weasel.
>>32039589>>32039802>>32040435Sorry about that delay Anons; I got distracted by a few other things around my household that I needed to take care of... (Also, I might have to call this thread early if I can't haggle with somebody to take over the "Late Shift" I might have to work tonight.) Either way, Option B resoundingly takes the vote and updates are on the way...
>>32040435>>32039802>>32039589"Ell with it, I need t'clear me head" you tell yourself, then get out of bed and find yourself dressed only in a bra & panties, which you raise an eyebrow at as you don't recall changing out of your pajamas before you went to bed early last night... But shrug and go through your "Warm-Up" stretches without any protests from your body before taking a nice, long shower.Thankfully, nothing comes off your body as you confirm that this IS reality, you still aren't dreaming and that you're going to miss having hot showers like this in the morning when you eventually have to leave this glorious villa, a faint sense of regret that you didn't really get to use it much aside from the gym, pool and showers...That's when you figure that today might be right to start to re-pack and clean all of your clothes before you load your stuff back up and take your meager amount of belongings with you (Or maybe put your valuables in a safe-deposit box at that one Bank you've got an account at) to San Francisco for the first round of "The Infinite Match"... Though on the other hand, you feel compelled to hit the gym and work your way through all of what had happened in your dream from last night.>A. Skip through the day and start training after Lunch, checking in with King after you finish working out.>B. Play through the day as normal and start packing your stuff, as you probably only have a few days left before you, Yuri & King have to leave for your flight to the west coast. >C. Play through the day as normal, but get through your regular work-out before doing anything else, again focusing on bodyweight exercises and swimming as a "Coll-Down".>D. Get some Breakfast in you before you start anything else; You can hear your stomach starting to make familiar-sounding growls back at you...>E. Something Else... ("Write-in" Vote)>F. Assume the role of...? ("Write-In" Vote to determine which character in this quest to gain direct control of)
>>32041993>A. Skip through the day and start training after Lunch, checking in with King after you finish working out.
>>32041993 >A. Skip through the day and start training after Lunch, checking in with King after you finish working out.Maybe focus on bodyweight exer ises instead of machines, considering we're supposed to be leaving the pad soon?
>>32042143Full-body bodyweight exercises are some of the most efficient exercises out there. They don't require as much time commitment, and they don't require additional equipment (barring a bench or table depending on the exercise). Katja needs to be in top holistic form if she wants to get far in the KoF.By the way, Avery said she wanted to check Katja out today, didn't she?
>>32042250Pretty sure she did, but i'm not 100% on that... Also seconding the bodyweight exercises.>>32041993>A.
>>32042548>>32042143>>32042022You shake off any lingering thoughts about what you had gone through in your mind and take the whole morning to pack and prepare everything you own for transport out of the glamorous villa you're currently residing in, surprised at how much clothing you have to wash despite feeling like you had maybe two, three full outfits to wear out when you had first arrived here...You even get a chance to take a look at your precious stuffed koala bear ("Mr. Grumbles") and wonder if a part of your wild, crazy dream was a mirror of the person you were like when you were just a young girl, because you took that thing around with you EVERYWHERE back in the day... And then feel an odd pang of nostalgia about those days living on the dusty plains of the heart of The Outback, not a soul around for miles and various nasty creatures that most people would be horrified of being as common as dirt to you.You take a quick break for a light breakfast after a little bit, then finish up packing and do some more stretches before heading down to the gym to work out and get your training back on track, again focusing on body exercises and eschewing machines and weights in exchange for putting yourself through some of the strangest exercises you've ever heard of: "Judo Push-up's", "Donkey Kick's", "Single Leg Deadlift's", "Burpees", " Pistol Squat's" and a few other curiously named ones that defy explanation... All of which wipe you out physically, yet make you feel more satisfied than you have in a long while, more nostalgia hitting you as you feel like you were back training in the Kyokugen Dojo as you break for lunch and check your phone for messages.Sure enough, you find two new texts from your "#1 Super-fan" Avery and King about what time you'd want to meet up for some sparring/instruction and when you could meet up for yet another "Pow-Wow" the day before your flight out to San Francisco, Respectively...
>>32043969>A. Call up King and check in with her to when you could meet up for one last toast/strategy session/whatever at "La Illusion".>B. Call up Avery and ask her where she'd want to meet up at, possibly getting some lunch with her again and wondering if it would be sending too-strong of a message towards her (As you don't want her to get the impression that you're romantically interested in her).>C. Get some lunch in you before you call up anybody; You're starting to feel a little light-headed after that workout (Among other things).>D. Something Else... ("Write-in/Combine Votes" Vote)>E. Assume the role of...? ("Write-In" Vote to determine which character in this quest to gain direct control of)
And thus, another quest dies with a whimper... Good riddance, I say.
>>32045791As much as I hate to admit it, it looks to be that way... I might just stick a fork into this quest and run the next round sometime next week.
>>32047351Hell with it, I'm going with this and getting the next update started...
>>32044108>B. Call up Avery and ask her where she'd want to meet up at, possibly getting some lunch with her again and wondering if it would be sending too-strong of a message towards her (As you don't want her to get the impression that you're romantically interested in her).
>>32047351>>32048532After making a note of the fact that King had called you just after 9 AM while you had only just missed Avery by minutes, you call up "A. Mitchell" first and patiently wait for her to answer, putting your phone on "Speaker" while getting changed into some fresh clothes (As you want to get the "Dudette Sweat"-smell off of you before going out anywhere)."Katja? Is that you?" you hear her ask as you struggle to get on a slightly-tighter than you remember T-shirt, then swiftly put that aside and pick up your cellphone."Yeah, just got your message... What's up with you?" "Oh, just doing some rehabilitation with my arm, reading through my Aikido manual... You?" she replies, sounding slightly nervous for some reason."Just packin' up my stuff and gettin' ready to head out for the tournament... I was kinda answering if ya'wanted to go out somewhere or somethin', because this'll probably be my last in South Town before the Tourney ends" you truthfully reply, then try to slip on that T-Shirt again as you wonder why it's so tight around your chest."Oh... Well, we could meet somewhere for lunch ad hit up my gym or something" Avery answers, still sounding a little embarrassed calling you for whatever reason. You pick up on that as you slip into some Blue Jeans and ask "Everythin' alright?""Huh? Oh, yeah... I kind of had a bad night at work" she replies."Oh..." You reply, then inquisitively ask "What do y'do for work Avery? Y'never really answered me when I brought it up before.""W-Well, I work as a systems analyst for a private security agency" Avery tells you, a partial truth as her work at Seth's Agency isn't far from that. "And dude, last night was just...""Earn your money kinda gig?" you ask, Avery letting out a sigh as you can hear the frustration in her voice."Yeah... But maybe getting some lunch with you would be good" she offers, again sounding nervous-enough that you're starting to think she wants to go on a date or something.
>>32048842You take a long pause, not quite sure if Avery has the wrong idea or is coming on a little too strongly for your own liking... Yet at the same time, whether because of the fact that you don't feel like you have enough friends outside of fighting, or even those that are "Casual"-enough to just hang out whenever you fancy.>A. Make it clear to Avery that while you wouldn't mind being friends and going out to lunch AS friends, you aren't ready to go out with her (Or any woman, for the matter) on a date or something like that.>B. Politely decline her invite for lunch, but tell her that you wouldn't mind trying to go out for a night of club-hopping or something later in the evening.>C. Give her a non-committal response, politely hang up and call up King to confirm whatever plans she has for you and Yuri.>D. Don't try to paint any pictures or color the situation at-hand and agree to go out to lunch with Avery; With the way she's sounding on the phone, her job must be a pretty high-stress one and probably just is eager to spend some time away from it...Right?>E. Assume the role of...? ("Write-In" Vote to determine which character in this quest to gain direct control of)>F. Something Else... ("Write-in/Combine Votes" Vote)
>>32049176>D. Don't try to paint any pictures or color the situation at-hand and agree to go out to lunch with Avery; With the way she's sounding on the phone, her job must be a pretty high-stress one and probably just is eager to spend some time away from it...Plus, she can join us to hang out with King if she so chooses.
>>32049320>>32050089"Sure" you finally tell Avery, explaining "Let me just clear a few things up with me mates and I can meet up with ya' wherever.""Great! We can meet up in China Town; I have an appointment with my masseuse and there's this KILLER Chinese place across the street" she says."Yeah, 'The Rising Dragon' right?" you ask, thinking what a small world it must be after realizing she's one of Dr. Lee Pai Long's clients. "Place is great; I'll be sure t'be there awright?""Alright, cool... Well, see ya!" she answers before hanging up. You smirk as you look at the small profile picture her caller ID is set-up on and wonder what life would've been like if she were enrolled in Kyokugenryuu when you were still there... You shake that thought out of your head and try to call back King, only to find that your phone isn't reacting as it normally would.Curious, you fiddle around with the almost-endless options it has before you realize what's wrong (And why Avery might have sounded embarrassed while talking to you): You had somehow activated a "Videophone"-like setting when you called her back, meaning that Avery watched you get dressed the whole time you were talking to her!"Of all the bloody..." you start to curse, but let your voice trail off into a mere mumble as you go back into your phone's settings and "Lock-Out" that particular feature before you call up King, subconsciously putting on a jacket before she answers."Hi Katja... You got my message right?" King asks, overhearing the chatter of "La Illusion" in the background."Yeah... Listen, I forgot that I had made plans to go to lunch with a friend; Y'mind if I don't come in until like 4:30-5 PM?" you ask, looking at a nearby clock and seeing that it's around 12:30 PM right now. "Alright" King replies, though she quickly adds "But try not to be any later than that alright? I still want to get in a sparring match with you before the tournament starts... Plus, Yuri's supposed to be there too."
>>32050968"Yeah yeah, I hear ya" you reply, then ask "Hang on, aren't you right knackered from your fight with Fiona?""No, nothing that a day off couldn't fix" she says, then again asks "So around 4:30 right?""OK, you're the boss o'this team King" you tell her, then add "See you soon 'kay? Buh-bye" and hang up on her. You grab your cellphone, the keys to your treasured Triumph Thruxton that's parked downstairs and your wallet, checking through it and grabbing a small amount (Around $100 or so in a loose collection of denotations) for "Walking Around Money", then slip on your boots and riding gloves and make your way down to the parking garage.Something about today's triggering memories and reflections from within you, as you almost feel a little melancholy at the fact that after today, you aren't going to really have a place to go to or stay at (As that realtor Robert Garcia set you up with isn't expecting you until well into June, maybe at the end of that month at the earliest) and it really hits home that you've got all of your eggs riding in this "Infinite Mach" basket..."Better bloody win it then" you think as you fire up your motorcycle, listening to it idle and again hear Hatsune Horikawa's voice saying "Oh, it sounds like a sewing machine">A. Skip through the day and start the meeting up with King & Yuri, with (Or without) Avery hanging around with you as she IS a supposed member of the Todoh Style of Aikido (Noted rivals of the Sakazakis & Kyokugen Karate).>B. Keep playing through the day as normal and ride down to "The Seeping Dragon Pharmacy" to wait up for Avery, then head across the street with her for some glorious food.>C.
