Notes on Rolls and Voting:

When I request rolls, each set of three rolls counts for one action. For example, a two-step plan would take the first 6 linked rolls. A particularly bad failure can interrupt a string of actions.

When rolling 1d100, I will consider criticals within the first ten linked rolls. Only criticals that occur in the first three rolls will be counted as "supercrits". This is still the case even if you'd have plan long enough to require more than ten rolls.

When rolling 1d20, the rules are the same, but I only consider criticals for the first five rolls, rather than ten. Criticals in the first three are still "supercrits".

When a plot choice results in extensive debate, I'll try to weed out the most popular trains of thought, and then call a vote on them. When voting, please respond with only a link back to the post and the number corresponding to your opinion. Other votes are discounted, including those with dice rolls or extra spaces.

Finally, note that this is not a democracy; it is a benevolent dictatorship.

Recent Events Summary:

Erebus has returned.

The Nemesis retreats from Vigil, barely avoiding a swift destruction by slipping through the skysever.

>Last time...

<Indeed.> You all turn. Hecate is standing next to Adavan. Her aura casts the bridge of the Nemesis in bright orange. <I am glad you have returned safely. We must move swiftly to counter Erebus. I do not know how long the sky engine will sustain the strain of his full might. Perhaps the Staff can be used to reinforce it.>

"How did you get on the ship?" Auriel asks.

"Where my children are," Hecate says, placing a hand on Adavan's shoulder, "so am I, angel."

"...that was Erebus?" you ask. "No." You feel the tears rolling down your cheeks. "What...where's Shadow? What happened to Shadow?!"

<He has been subsumed by Erebus. He has failed.>

"What does that mean?!"

<It means,> she says, <that if we want him back, we will have to proceed very carefully. I sensed his last thoughts as he called out to me for aid, when he knew his defeat was inevitable. We have hope, still.>

"...hope," Hemmelus says. "We have you, my Lady, but with all due respect, you cannot defeat him alone."

<I cannot. But there is one thing Erebus feared.>

"What is that?"

<The might of every elemental lord combined.>

No one says much after Hecate makes that statement. Everyone is lost in thought at the implications. Or thinking how in the world that the elemental lords can be brought to bear.

The Nemesis flies toward Arland.

Every hour, the sky shakes, and darkens, and a pulse of shadow rolls out from the point at which Erebus hammers at the skysever. He's still there, throwing his magic against it like a battering ram.

He hasn't breached the Wind, yet, but with every strike, the Wind weakens. The energy of the skysever is in fact finite. Or at the least, it can only output so much energy in so short a time.

You arrive in Arland. You've radioed ahead that you were coming. Everyone has gathered.

---------
---------

It's the same meeting room you've been using - a long, oval wood table, set below a bright chandelier. Maps of Venia and Arland adorn the stone walls. You sit toward the middle of the table. On one end is Arcturis; on the other is Raphael. The representatives and leaders of every major nation in the land are gathered there.

Hecate stands at the very head of the room, calmly explaining that Erebus has returned and that he means to destroy Venia once and for all. She also lays out her own plan - that of acquiring the might of 7 elemental lords to battle Erebus.

It's quiet for a time.

"Where is Shadow, exactly?" Melody asks.

<He has been consumed by Erebus,> Hecate says.

"Are you saying he's dead?" Donovan asks.

"No," Abigail says. "He's not dead."

"Abigail," Fang says, "you need to accept what has happened."

<He is not dead,> Hecate says. Everyone looks at her. <I cannot well articulate what Erebus has done. The Shadow that we know is subsumed. Reduced to fuel.>

"...I know what you mean," Abigail says. She looks up. "Shadow told me about his powers a few times. They're divided into things he called shards - parts of himself. Each shard governed some aspect of his power. Apparently it was more efficient, that way. So, Shadow is one of those, now. One of Erebus's shards."

"Alive, behind enemy lines, then," Fang says. "We might have a better chance at this than I thought."

"What do you mean?"

"Lady Hecate," Fang says, "allow me to restate your plan. You want us to revive and restore both Geb and Leviathan. You will then combine your powers to stabilize the crack in the barrier whilst opening a gateway to the Nether itself. Inside, we will somehow convince four Greater Elemental lords that have been stewing in chaotic capitivity for 700 years that they need to help destroy Erebus before we are all destroyed ourselves. Is that right?"

"That is correct," Hecate says.

"That," Arcturis mumbles, "is insane."

"We find ourselves at a rare juncture, Lord Flint, because I couldn't agree more," Fang says. "Leviathan and Geb should be revived. In the meantime, we can stabilize the skysever to buy time. With those two elemental lords, and yourself, Lady Hecate, we can turn about and take on Erebus ourselves."

"Erebus won against the elemental lords alone," Auriel says. "What chance will we have?"

>con't
>>
Alright SM, lets see you salvage this one...
>>
"He used so much power to do that it took him 700 years to claw himself back together," Fang says. "None of us have the luxury of time any longer. He has no choice but to meet us in direct conflict. And I have a little something that will give him pause, I think."

"What's that?"

"Nothing you need to worry about," Fang says. "Even without my trump card, we have the advantage."

"What are you getting at?" Auriel asks. "We might be able to hold him off for a little while, fine. But what then?"

"That's all we need to do," Fang says. "If Shadow is dead, well, then he's dead. But he isn't dead. He's right at our enemy's weakest point, right where he won't be looking. Erebus may be powerful, but he seems arrogant. Shadow won't be so easily caged. He never has been. We need only force Erebus to hestitate, harm him just enough - that will provide the opening that Shadow needs to escape."

"I'm glad everyone's concerned for Shadow," Ellendra Kalladar states, "but ultimately, this is about the world itself. How does this further our goal?"

"We can't repair the barrier without either Erebus or Shadow," Fang says. "We need the power of Order to contain Chaos. Erebus's method seems to involve destroying Venia. Shadow may be able to offer an alternative."

"And if not?"

"Then none of this matters anyway," Fang says. "But frankly, your highness, if I found the idea of waiting around for death attractive, I wouldn't have made myself a lich."

---------
---------

Everyone seems uncertain. Fang's plan has merit, and it seems to prioritize Shadow. That's good.

But can you really get by on half-measures? Hecate's idea is riskier, but even Erebus couldn't hold out against all 7 Elemental Lords.

What do you do?

So, there's a few things we can do here.

Either continue to play as Abigail, or, if the party is split to do multiple things at the same time (reigning in Geb, attempt to bring the skysever under control to delay Erebus, calming Leviathan, etc) then we can skip between characters as needed.

Discussion is open. I don't really have much prepared because I've been so freaking sick but I'll do my best on the fly.

Ila, Fang, Flint.
One of those three.

You do have the capability of opening a gate to the Nether. Getting David to help would be challenging.

If you wanted to do something along those lines, 'unleashing' Dave rather than trying to control him would probably be the best solution.

Has Steward figured out how to make dynamo shells?
>>
SM, just wanted to say that, even if there is any more drama, I'm following this story to the end, trainwreck or not.
Also, random question: If Erebus has been living for millennia, I'm assuming one of his 'upgrades' was to his mind, so he could actually store and process the insane amount of data that would be over one million years of life. Or does he just constantly forget things, due to running out of space.?
>>

Fang's plan is best

>Could we have the Elemental lords do what Shadow did on the Noiralev?

Be more specific. I think you're talking about when Shadow used life energy to power the dynamo.
>>
>>31893854
I really don't think David is anyone's toy anymore, not especially after spending centuries in the Nether; David has lost his mind, and has clung onto his fanaticism to Erebus, which doesn't necessarily include being willing to do what he says, especially if he felt his loyalty was betrayed.
>>
SM, how did Erebus react to learning about Abigail, and her resemblance to his sister?
I'm currently guessing he thought it was Chaos trying to tempt him into luring his guard, or something along those lines, but I'm just curious.
>>
>>31894047
You realize that releasing all the Higher Elemental Lords will bring Venia to the brink, right?

Also, with the way SM is fishing for ideas, it seems pretty clear that there's a 'right' answer he's not telling us and yet wants us to figure out.

Because that's worked so well in the past.
>>
>>31893762
Fang's plan for now, and if it comes down to being unable to save Shadow then pull the plug and release the other Chaos Lords, because they at least MIGHT be willing to spare Venia whereas Erebutts would not.

>>
>>31894167

He had somewhat of a reaction earlier. Your assessment is generally correct.

Fundamentally speaking, Abigail's resemblance to El'lora is meant to explain your decision of giving Abigail more than the time of day back at the beginning of the quest.

>>31894220
>I'm talking about when he was empowering the airship through the dynamo.

Yes, along with Shadow, they may be able to do that in conjunction with the barrier. This is something Steward has hinted at earlier.

Of course, the barrier is not just a dynamo. It's a lot more involved.

>>31894240

I probably would have killed someone off in exchange for the others escaping, someone that would have stayed dead permanently. The Nemesis would have been extremely damaged.

Hi SM. So, not gonna lie, around thread 100, during those Unfortunate Incidents, I pretty much threw my hands up and ditched the story. But then a couple of weeks ago, I noticed the story was still going strong, and decided to get caught up, see if things got better. They did, pretty fast, and I'm sorry I missed out.

So, I start an archive binge to get caught up as soon as I could, and I finally got caught up... just in time for that last happy little deal. Ouch.

Still, it's good to be back, and I'll see this madness through to the end.

After time spent debating - and with yourself promoting a strategy that is likely to help Shadow sooner - the gathering decides to go with Fang's plan.

You glance at your uncle. <Do you think this is really going to work?>

<It will,> he says.

You can tell he wants to say more, but he holds his words. You're glad you decided to tell him that Hecate can hear nearby telepathy...

--------
--------

Fang details a multi-stage process.

Geb needs to be freed. According to prophecy, Melody will need to be there to use the Staff of Winds, and Donovan is also necessary - though how, you're not sure. Fang suspects Donovan's newly realized magical powers will help in that regard. In any case, Geb will be a raging god upon being released from the Winds. Steward, Ellendra, and Valeria are confident they can somewhat bind Geb up after his release, or at least distract him while others work to solve the fundamental problem.

Leviathan must be freed. According to Hecate, he's experienced a great pain by being split into two parts. Until you can calm him, it's likely he'll cause a significant stir - not too different from Geb. Hopefully you can talk him down relatively quickly. Hecate will be on hand to provide the major counterweight to his powers.

The skysever must be stabilized. The spell's core still sits on the sky engine at the heart of Xile. A member of the Flint family might be able to seize direct control, but it's not a friendly place to be. Arcturis has volunteered to lead whoever will follow into the depths of the island.

Do you try to deal with them one at a time, or split the alliance up and take everything on at once? Do you have any alterations to suggest?

It's horribly inefficient. 2M per 1BP is awful for a single target attack.

Void Bomb alt1 is 1M per 1.5BP at the lowest setting where it's designed for hitting a single target. At the highest setting it's 2.33333M per 1xBP, where x is the number of targets within a quarter-mile of the impact site. Plus, Void Bomb has this weird thing where it's an instakill unless they resist it, in which case it applies 15BP. Depending on how that's meant, it could be a lot nastier than any other 15BP spells.

Flint is still awesome.

With the plan set in motion, Arcturis and Fang take the Nemesis - piloted by Tyrael - up to Xile, to see what they can make of the skysever.

Meanwhile, the collected alliance heads to the southern wasteland, where the God of the Earth still roams.

Raphael stays behind to continue overseeing the cleanup of the war, and to explain the situation at hand to the Atlantians. You'll be needing their keystone soon.

------------
------------

You are Sir Donovan Flint, and you're getting really tired of all this.

First it was just helping Shadow and Abigail. They're your friends, right? You didn't mind helping them. You would do a lot for them.

And then somehow that turned into helping the save the world from four demon lords, a mad angel, and the destructive servant of Shadow's former self.

Well, these things tend to happen. But the flying. Enough of the flying. As the airship settles down at the edge of the storm, you finally relax your grip on the armrests.

"Are you alright over there?" Auriel asks.

"I'm fine."

"Uh-huh."

"Super! Fantastic! Wonderful!" You snap off your lapbelt and march down the bridge. "Let's get started. I want Shadow back by dinnertime."

Valeria Kavanere smiles as you pass. "With friends like this, even I'm afraid for Erebus."

"Oh, har-har."

"I wasn't joking, Sir Flint."

You glance at her again, and then you're down the gangway of the Vengeance - one of the Black Lady's airships. Or, well, Melody. Suddenly she wants everyone to know her name. You were surprised to find out that it was the same woman that Shadow learned about back on Xile. Apparently she has real history with Yi Fang.

Auriel didn't seem as shocked, though. You bet that's how Shadow got her on board with the whole alliance thing in the first place. Damn so-called friends, conspiring behind your back.

Well, these things tend to happen.

You step out onto the plains.

It's been a long time since you were here, last, miles south of Torellfield, that outpost at the edge of the barren wastes. And barren wastes they are. At some point outside the city, the grass stops being green, just dries up into dust. There are still the dead husks of trees dotting the landscape, ancient fossils that were once part of lush forests. And here and there are ruins, pieces of the old pre-elementomachy society, abandoned and isolated by the thread of a stomping god. You had more than one stint as a treasure hunter in those places, alongside some less-than-reputable types. But it was a way to sharpen your sword. Forget about Megan.

It didn't really work all that well with the latter.

Auriel puts a hand on your shoulder. She points. "Look," she says.

You look, and you see it. In the distance - a massive storm. A tornado a mile wide, tinged green, stretching down from the darkened sky like a column holding up the ceiling of Venia itself. From here, it sounds like a low, angry howl. And there's another sound, lower than that. It feels like its shaking the Earth. Geb's roaring.

This is as close as the airship dares approach. From here, you're on foot.

-----------
-----------

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qp4I3aUhj3s

The tornado is heading away from you, so it takes a while for you to run it down. You gain ground on a high ridge. The winds of the storm whip at your face and hair - you've got cloth bound around your face to shield you from the dust. Your cape is slapping and flapping against your armor. Your allies align themselves on the ridge next to you - Ila, Adavan, Valeria and Queen Kalldar, Duke Vellik, Auriel, Melody, and Steward, along with several of his robots. Apparently the 003 construct can't be summoned once more, but Steward tells you that you don't want direct confrontation with Geb anyway.

You can sense something. You squint your eyes, shielding them with a hand. "...there's something..."

"What?!" Auriel shouts. The wind whips her words hard enough that it's tough to hear. "Speak up!"

"I can feel light!" you shout at them. "A lot of it! It's moving around inside the tornado!"

"No," Steward says. Oddly, his robotic tone is very clear in the wind. Maybe it's his earth magic? "The parasite is inside Geb himself."

"Then how do we get to it?!"

"We go inside Geb," Steward says.

"How the hell are we supposed to do that?!"

The tornado stops, and turns toward you. The dark clouds of dirt and dust at its base roil closer to the base of the ridge.

"Uh..."

"Now might be a good time for the staff!" Valeria shouts.

"Indeed." Melody raises the Staff of Winds.

The storm cracks. It's really like watching the tornado split open, like a rock being smashed against a still larger boulder. Pieces of the wind curl and shoot into the sky. The clouds begin to dissipate. Melody stumbles backwards, reeling. Duke Vellik catches her by an arm. "Are you quite alright?"

"...that...that one was tough." She gains her feet again.

Steward points. "It is Geb."

While you'd normally commend your robotic companion on his mastery of the obvious, you don't have much of a response. Geb is a moving mountain, earth come alive and given a vaguely humanoid form - but barely. You see arms, legs, but they fold over and under one another as he moves, more like a churning chain of avalanches than footsteps. You see two huge arms, though, ending in three-fingered maws. His whole body is overgrown with plants and trees - and as his body churns, they're subsumed, crushed, snapped into his core. Just as quickly, new forests sprout from his back.

It roars. You cover your ears. The sound blasts over you hard enough to stir your cape into the air.

"Does that thing even have an inside?!" you shout.

"Sensors indicate a large somewhat permanent hollow located within the main body."

"Somewhat? What does somewhat mean?"!

"We can enter via my prepared plan. This will be safest, but cost me most of my energy. I suggest that the elves remain here and attempt to restrict Geb's movements now that he is free of the winds."

"Just do what you have to do!" you shout at him.

"Understood. Activating high-capacity heat sinks."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BFSHDJatdQ

Steward's arms fold outward. The metal plates that cover his body expand and clack into a wider, more broad variation of the simple armor that covered him before. Fat sleeve of thin, repetitive steel protrude from his back. They begin to glow with brown Earth, almost to the point of turning black.

"Overclocking."

Green sigils flash to life over his armor. Steward is enveloped in a green orb of light.

And then you are, too. And so is everyone else, except the elves.

You lift off the ground.

"Enough of the flying!" you shout. "No more flying!"

In an instant, you shoot forward. You're flung back against the walls of your protective sphere. A moment later, the magic rattles as a hill-sized arm bats at you like so many flies.

The orbs jerk upward. You slam down, hard. You grunt as the air is forced out of your lungs.

You sweep up and into the giant's gaping mouth. Everything goes black, but you still feel the sensation of movement. Flickers of light from the orbs show you a throat of rock and gleaming gems and metal.

You slow, the drift to a stop a few feet above a rocky floor. The spell cuts out. You flail down and land straight on your stomach. You groan, and roll over, wheezing to get your wind back.

Steward hits the ground on one knee. His plates and armor fold back into themselves. "Cooldown time is 3 hours."

"Phew." Auriel dusts her knees and walks over to you. "The hell is your problem? Come on, get up."

"Well, the ride was a tad harsh," Adavan says. "Some people aren't skilled enough in magic to buffer themselves."

"....when...I...get air...insult...you..."

Ila kneels with a concerned look on her face. "Sir Flint, are you alright?"

"There are two passages," Steward says. "One leads up. One leads down."

"Where's the light parasite?"

"I cannot tell."

You finally get back on your feet, climbing back up using your knees. "Jeeze. Ok. Parasite is up above us. Something else is below, though. Feels like Earth."

"Gee, thanks for the update," Auriel says.

The room shakes slightly. Rocks patter down from the ceiling. A slightly larger one dings your helmet. "What was that?"

"Either the room is shifting, or Geb and the elves are fighting," Steward says. "I too detect the Earth below. It is different."

"How so?" Vellik asks.

"It feels like the chronomancy," Steward says.

"I can feel the parasite," you say. "It's above us."

Steward points his hands to either side of the 'stomach'. "Echolocation indicates that passage leads up. That leads down."

>>
Why don't we try using humanization on the demons?

Erebus was very surprised to learn that the agents of Chaos could be cut off from Chaos's goals like Venia's residents are.

I think it is an idea that has more possibility than killing off all the Elemental Lords in some kind of Order merging plan.

The Chaos entity and the Chaose Energy source are two different things, if you cut off the Entity's influence than the spread of Chaos becomes less of an issue. We'd still have to stop it from spreading but it won't be the apocalyptic event it currently would be if the Entity was not involved. Meaning we'd have actual time to come up with something that isn't "try to get a bunch of assholes who think they're gods to kill themselves for the rest of the world."

<Vigil,> Erebus says. <What are your instructions per failure of the Shard Program?>

Fuck.
>>

>>
>>31896965
I realy don't think it would be so easy.
>>
>>31896937
And the entire reason why he didn't just do the Automatic Resolution thing in the first place was because...he was bored.

Okay. He's still an asshat for risking it, and his going down there invalidates whatever argument there is about the risks of simply blasting Venia.

>>31896965
Humanization probably takes a long time to completely.
>>
>>31896999
Okay, then let me put it this way.

The only reason why Chaos breaking out is bad is because of the Entity inside it. If you cut off the Entity's influence on the Energy, it literally does not matter if the barrier is breached.

We humanize what we can, and then when it breaches, we humanize what comes out.

When we ran this idea by Erebus he actually thought it was a good idea, he just wanted to destroy Venia anyway.
>>
>>31896961
Not if we free Shadow.
>>
"The adventures can wait," you say. "Right now we need to get to the parasite."

"Then we head this way."

Your group troops up one tunnel and around a bend. It's a slight spiral in construction, slowly winding up through Geb's core.

Behind you, the earth shudders, and moves. Everyone looks. The passage seals itself, and then turns, and then opens again.

"Odd," Steward says. "Echolocation shows that the passage back has shifted to other tunnels."

"Can we get back to where we came in?" Vellik asks.

"Yes. It will take a lot longer."

"Nowhere to go but forward, then," Auriel says. "Come on."

Eventually, you come to the opening of another chamber. It's a relatively wide space, though a few piles of rock and oddly gleaming gems dot the floor.

In the center of he chamber is a column of rock, stretching from top to bottom. It glows green and brown with a powerful light magic.

Clinging to the column itself is what appears to be a snake with spider's legs. It has no head, though. One end is slightly bulbous. The other turns into a fat, thick tail. Your party stays tucked at the edge of the tunnel. It doesn't stir.

<Ok,> Auriel sends. <What do we do?>

>strategy
>>
>>31897040
So what you're saying is don't bother to stop the breach, just stop the Entity that will get out?

I think you're correct in that the breach doesn't matter if the Entity is no longer in control of the energy but I'm not sure if your humanization plan could work.

However, focusing on the Entity over the stopping the breach is a better idea than thinking we have to preserve the barrier.

"Steward," you whisper, "try to analyze it. Auriel, is there a way you could make a spell to...I don't know...pry it off that thing? Is is sensitive?"

"Judging from what we know," Vellik says quietly, "it seems that Geb's power is concentrated there. Or it's somehow sealed so that the parasite can access it. Separating them before attacking is probably a good idea."

<I can try to aim a spell at its legs,> Auriel says. <Something to move it, rather than piece it.>

"Ok, that sounds good. Steward, did you learn anything?"

"Affirmative. The parasite has a core contained within its body. Physical and magical attacks on anything but this core may prove ineffective."

<...ok, so I'll target the center. It might react to magic, though.>

"Then what do we do?" you ask. "Try to hit the core?"

"It is located below the front lobe, just before the first legs," Steward says.

"Ok. So, bump it off the pillar, then attack."

<Ready when you are,> Auriel says.

What do you do after Auriel casts her sigil?

>lend your power to hers, just in case
>take the front; distract the parasite so that your allies can focus on magic
>stay back; normal attacks probably won't do any good
>some other strategy

>Shadow simply has no "flaw" in his character he's simply a boring white sheet.
What are you even talking about.

His naievity and recklessnes has fucked him over a bunch.

His inability to understand his allies limits fucked him up because when he was trying to keep them around.

Then, once he realized his mistake, he started developing the exact opposite problem and has trouble relying on other people and tries to do everything himself.

Finally, the hypocrisy you mentioned is also a flaw.

All your post really says is "I hate /tg/ and I like this character that /tg/ doesn't have anything to do with." Your point about flaws and shit is just an empty rationalization for hating your fellow players.

Shadow Quest won't be made into a book for a while, if ever.

I got other stuff I'm working on at the moment.

I like the titles people are throwing around, though.

-------------
-------------

"I'll boost your sigil," you whisper.

Auriel nods.

Light blossoms in front of her in a tangled weave. You haven't seen this spell before.

And then, when it activates, you realize you have seen it before - a long time ago, from the edge of a broken wall. Raziel used it to push Shadow away other people.

You pour your strength into the sigil.

>used 20 mana

A burst of foggy light explodes between the parasite and the column. It's flung back off the column and across the room. It slams into a pile of rock against the wall. Debris goes flying.

When the dust clears, the parasite rises up again - and you get a good look at it. It's at least four or five men long, perhaps two high. It spindles forward on its legs.

The bulbous part of its head peels back. The layers of wrinkled light-flesh fold up and expose a jaw of hundreds of white-flecked teeth.

"Light."

"Where is it?" Vellik asks. "Did you kill it?"

"It's right there." You point. "Coming toward us!"

"I can't see it!"

"Me neither!" Ila shouts.

"Ocular senses cannot assist. Sensors are being jammed."

"Donny," Auriel says, "I think you're the only one that can see this thing."

"Well, it's closing in really fast!" you shout. "Get ready!"

What do you do?

>help Auriel with another spell (suggest something)
>attack the parasite yourself (specify)
>some other strategy

"I'm going to cast a light over it! Get ready!"

You raise your hand. A simple sigil appears there - even more simple than the one needed to cast a beam of light. This one is just a simple dot.

A massive sphere of light bursts into existence about a third of the way inside the parasite. It jerks to a halt. Its body scrabbles and scrapes at the rock, but it's as if it swallowed a huge weight. And your light isn't moving.

This thing reacts to light like a tangible substance.

"Let's see it take this!" Abigail shouts. She raises her left hand - the one shadow replaced. At the same time, Vellik fires a bolt of lightning.

Abigail's twisting rope of shadow strikes first. Your light is subsumed, but so is half the parasite. Vellik's bolt follows up right after. Gold lightning cracks and sparks.

A throbbing bundle of light falls free of the creature. Its body vanishes.

Almost immediately, shining lines begin to redraw themselves from the core.

"I still can't see it!" Abigail shouts. "Did we hit it?"

"Yes, but it's rebuilding itself! Stay ready!"

What do you do?

"Auriel, it reacts to light like it can feel it. So just fill that whole area with light. Make a sigil, I'll give it power!"

"Wait, where?"

You Cast a Light. An white orb appears over the parasite as its body is drawn back into existence. "On the ground, there!"

Auriel makes her sigil. It's relatively simple - a dot with ten lines branching from the center. Half the lines are connected. You throw your mana into it as fast as you can. Auriel's eyes widen. "Whoa!"

>you've used 50 mana

The sigil wavers, and you can -feel- it slip out of her hands. A mighty burst of light explodes over the parasite. It's like a miniature sun, without the heat. Waves and streamers of white neon flick out at the cavern walls.

And then, it vanishes. Nothing is left.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTN87eD3Skc

The ground beneath you begins to tremble.

It shifts. Cracks in the earth begin to open at an alarming rate.

"Uh...not good!"

"Shield yourselves!"

"The chamber is collapsing," Steward says. "Use magic to levitate."

"I don't know that!"

"Hold on, Donny!" Auriel grabs your arm.

A crevice opens below you, and above you. Rock and dust spills from the ceiling in waves. Auriel contains you both in a sphere of light, but you're buried by the avalanche in seconds. You hang onto her for dear life as you're rattled around like a nut in a can.

Eventually, you come to stop.

And then you start moving again. You're picked up, and you feel yourself press down into the bottom of the shield. "What's going on?!"

"I think something is lifting us!"

"Thanks for the update!" you shout at her.

>con't
>>
The rumbling slowly halts once again. And this time, it doesn't restart.

"...ok. I'm going to lower the shield. Stay close."

Auriel waves a hand in front of her face. The opaque white magic vanishes.

You're on the ground. Except, it's not the ground. It's a hand, that sort of looks like the ground. And it's attached to the arm of a massive mountain man who is probably named Geb.

The mouth of the rocky face that looms before you opens. "YOU KILL LIGHT."

You shield yourself from the spray of dust and air that comes out of it. "Uh...uh...sure."

"THANK YOU, L̶̷I̧G̵̴H̨̧̕TL̶I̷̶NG̵͠. ARE YOU HURT?"

"Um...no."

"GOOD. TIME TO BE PUT DOWN, NOW."

You feel your stomach fall into your throat as you plummet toward the ground at high speed. You cling to Auriel for dear life. She's laughing. Oh, elements, you've fallen in love with a madwoman.

There's a rush of dust as the bottom of Geb's hand strikes the ground. You manage to disembark before collapsing onto the actual ground.

Everyone's there - safe and sound. Geb takes a few steps back. The earth rumbles with each of his movements. You struggle to get back on your feet.

"HMM. THE D̸A̴̧R̢̨K̶̢͘ IS STILL GONE. HMM. WHERE ARE W̧̢I͏̀N҉D̕ AND L̸͢͏Į̛͡G̸H̶Ţ͞? HMM. WELL. HMM. I AM NOT SAD THAT THEY ARE GONE. NO. HMM."

He sure rumbles a lot.

"Um...Geb! Hey, Geb!"

Geb's face roars down toward you. A blast of wind follows the motion of his upper body. "HMMM?"

"Uh...hopefully...this...isn't too much trouble, but...uh...we need some help. Things are kinda...well..."

"Sir Flint, why don't I do the talking," Queen Kalladar says. "Lord Geb! I am Queen Ellendra Kalladar, inheritor of the rule of your people. It is my honor and my pleasure to meet you at last!"

Geb plunges a hand into his own stomach. And he withdraws something. It's...rock. But a long, strange rock, lined with smaller rocks. It's...a lot of rock.

It also feels just like that strange chronomancy you sensed earlier.

Geb sets the strange branching rock on the ground. There must be hundreds of boulders all connected to one single center. It almost looks like a tree.

And then strange sensation fades, and the rock collapses to dust, all at once. Things fall out of the debris.

"Those are people!" Abigail says.

And then you see them - they aren't just people. They're short. Too short. And stout. Almost inhuman in proportion.

Or, exactly inhuman in proportion.

"Dwarves," Auriel whispers. "I thought they were all dead. Has he been protecting them all this time?"

"Incredible," Adavan says.

"NOW. WHERE IS THE D̸A̴̧R̢̨K̶̢͘?"

I can't wait to meet the Dwarves with Shadow.

It's just Geb being himself. Don't worry about it.

>>31899427

It's the end, broski. I already pushed it far tonight. Still sick over here.

next time man, I didn't feel like plodding through ten paragraphs of GEB. HMM.

Thanks for the thread, SM!

>>31899353
So how do we convince him to on the one hand fight Erebus but on the other to let Shadow live?
>>
>>31899463
He seems like an Iron Giant kind of cool as well, and that's like, double cool.

>>31899477
Thanks for the thread SM. Get better soon or else.

I assumed so.
But obviously the more chaos there is the more "L̶̷I̧G̵̴H̨̧̕TL̶I̷̶NG̵͠" the speech gets

By explaining how bro shadow has been to Steward and the Treelings, that's how.
>>
>>31899535
We don't even know his stance on Steward.
Also what did Shadow for the elves in particular?
>>
>>31899563
Nothing, but Ellendra and Valeria can vouch for Shadow.
>>
>>31899563
World saving related stuff. Also, Steward2Dwarves/Ven/=Geb.
Goodnight much anon.

Thank you for outing yourself as a retard. Now please fuck off back to QTG.
>>
>>31899707
It was the first thread, we had no idea what kind of character we were so we just went with the "help out the important looking people" plan
>>
>>31899776
and dragons aren't people
so yeah, it was a pretty good bet
>>
>>31899798
elves aren't people either
>>
>>31899707
One of the elves wanted to kill us. The queen promptly stopped him.

I think that's a pretty good reason to help her out.

Oh, not this shit again.

>>31899832
They came to the place for the sole purpose of destroying you.
Don't even deny that /tg/ would have sided with the dragon if it wouldn't have been a female
>>
>>31899822
thems fighting words
>>
>>31899798
that's like siding with the thief who breaks into your house against your watchdog
>>
>>31899867
No, they came to take out Dovak.

>spoiler
Well, when you put it that way...
>>
>>31899899
more like siding with the animal abuser who breaks into other peoples homes to kill their pets
>>
>>31899924
It's a lesson I learned.
Never give /tg/ the option to side with a woman if it isn't what you are expecting them to choose.
Would have been funny if she just killed us.
>>
>>31899899
>>31899939
Not really. More like siding with the brave civilians trying to avenge people mauled by your rabid dog.
>>
>>31900023
It was siding with the vagina. Nothing more.
>>
>>31899353
Oh, so fucking called it.
>>
>>31900023
brave civilians are not queens or royal escorts that come to kill your beloved shadow dragon
dovak > any elf ever
>>
>>31900095
That beloved shadow dragon went out and murdered many of their people in cold blood. We had a responsibility to put him down.
>>
>>31900133
nah he was just hungry
>>
>>31900279
That doesn't change the fact they had every reason to kill him for their people's safety.

And if Dovak was hungry, then it was Melody's responsibility to feed him.
>>
>>31899707
>150+ threads later
>still people butt-hurt that Shadow isn't an evil asshole
>>
>>31900878
You also thought fighting against Temerity was a good idea, right?
>>
>>31901021
Given that Temerity's position boiled down to "let's murder everyone you know and care about because reasons," it would've been absurdly out of character to do anything other than side against Temerity. It was just a question of how hard he was rebuffed.
>>
>>31901113
Ding ding, Temerity, Erebus and any product of their decision to campaign against Venia for lulz makes them shits and shits should not be sided with
>>
Welp, I think I missed the thread. Time to start reading then.

How rainbows could it possibly be
