You desperately force yourself awake, finally managing to wrestle yourself back into consciousness and out of the darkness of sleep.Your entire body hurts... especially the head, so much so that your first thought is that it's a wonder you managed to sleep in the first place. And it's cold. Deathly cold. You're lying on your back, on a marble slab in a half-lit room (though you're not sure what the source of this reddish luminescence is: you can't see any). The walls are rough metal, bolted or welded together. You see and hear pipes and gears and wheels and chains working, although the noise is not particularly loud. You can't even begin to THINK, though. Everything in your head hurts. You try and sit up from your incredibly uncomfortable "bed", and even that takes you... a hour, maybe? Still, you feel like you're going to freeze to death if you don't move.Even trying to remember is painful. A ship. A silver coin. A dagger. Nightmares and death. Two swords are lying next to you on the bed. You dimly remember them as your own. Your clothes, however, feel new. You feel a thin mail of chain under them. You rummage in your pockets. A silver dinar, minted in Coral, and a short-bladed dagger with no scabbard. As your eyes get adjusted to the dim light, you see more of this room: a door, metal like all the rest, leads somewhere else. There are two other marble slabs next to your, like beds, unoccupied. The wall opposite to the door is full of drawers and shelves filled with bottles, vases and boxes. Not much else. This room is smaller than you thought it was.>Call for someone>Call for help>Leave the room>Inspect the drawers and shelves>Wait>(Other)

You (with great effort) stand up from your uncomfortable bed and walk up to the wall, which now reminds you of a gigantic cupboard in fact. You find scissors and scalpels, various liquids and fluids, herbs, powders, potions, ingredients, small animals and organs under formaldehyde (some of which you recognize, some not), metal plates, nails, hammers, saws, axes, nuts and bolts and wrenches, bones, stitching wire, wire used for something else you can't recognize but definitely not stitching, sacrificial knives, enchanted gemstones, alchemical components, talismans, and a plethora of off little components and gizmos that just scream "magitech".You can only presume this is some kind of hospital-"Oh, you're awake."You turn around by instinct, trying to draw your swords and put up a guard, and the quick spin is far more painful, for your head, than you'd have anticipated. You almost lose your balance, blacking out from the sudden, unexpected pain, and fall to your knees whimpering."Come on, you're still like that? I thought Doc had sewn you back together just fine." The woman sighs, walking up to you. She looks graceful and beautiful, clad in a black and white dress and with long, silky pale gold hair hanging around her like a gentle curtain. Her skin is pale and almost porcelain-like, almost making her look like an real-sized doll. Her wine-red eyes, though, are different. They are frightening. She stops by you. You expect her to hold out a hand and offer to help you back to your feet, but instead, she asks first:"...Do you need a hand?">Yes.>No.>(also ask:) Who are you?>(also ask:) Who am I?>(also ask:) Why am I here?>(also ask:) What is this place?>(also:) You'll remember on your own.>(other)

Rolled 10>>31843476From a certain point of view.Certainly, the original response >>31843292didn't.While >>31843325 is indeed name calling, it's as a result of the escalation provided by >>31843308So really by the point the word "cock"is brought out it's already devolved into an ad-hominem clusterfuffle anyway.
Rolled 5>>31843525The first ad hominem was definitely saying the guy had a stick in his ass. It instantly devolved into shitposting. Someone casually used the word 'fucking' in an otherwise polite suggestion to turn on their dice, and the thread immediately lost its fucking mind.

>>31843516Because I can still come with suggestions and affect other anons' voting.
Cut it out.Roll dice if you want to, don't roll them if you don't want to, and don't fill the thread with endless arguments. From now on, if you want to remind people to roll, do so with a minimum of politeness, or shut up and let them figure it out on their own.The alternative is that I remove the dice-rolling mechanic and just do all the rolls myself, if you prefer.
Rolled 1Well that escalated quickly.
Rolled 9>>31843578When you take more than half an hour to update - which is no fault of your own - people are going to become increasingly likely to start a petty argument because they're bored. The actual subject of the argument is completely fucking arbitrary, and nobody in this thread actually gives that much of a fuck about these dice. If you have a problem with petty fucking arguments, you have a problem with the quest format.
Rolled 7>>31843605>Bitching at the QM for reasonably enforcing a modicum of orderWhat. Seriously?
>>31843605We've had plenty of threads where the space between updates was used for discussion, planning, or people explaining exalted to newcomers to the system. Don't try and justify shitposting.
Rolled 6>>31843639Hey, it's true. We've had dozens of petty, bullshit, pointless arguments for exactly the reason I stated. It's not going to stop, it's just going to be a different bullshit reason next time.>>31843648Right - when we have material to talk about instead of getting bored. When there's nothing to plan or discuss, people get bored, shitpost, and start fights. Because we're all terrible, terribly people with tiny attention spans and entitlement complexes.
So what is an abyssal exalted, and can someone give me a refresher on Coral?
Rolled 7>>31843658>Because we're all terrible, terribly people with tiny attention spans and entitlement complexes.Speak for yourself.Do you really think people are just sitting here staring at the thread waiting for the next update?
Rolled 2>>31843665http://whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Abyssal_Exalted>Abyssal Exalted, also called deathknights, are the champions of the Deathlords and their Neverborn masters. The Abyssal Exalted have only recently appeared, and appear to be dark reflections of the returned Solar Exalted, with twisted mockeries of the Solars' caste marks, animas and even Charms. They are a form of Exalted created from the corrupted Sparks of Exaltation of Solar Exalted. Abyssals are arguably as powerful as the Solars, but are constrained by operating largely in a hostile environment (Creation) and by their enslavement to the Deathlords. tl;dr colour pallette-flipped Solars
Rolled 5>>31843665An Abyssal exaltation is a Solar exaltation that was stolen by the Neverborn (undead Primordials trapped in perpetual pain in the Underworld) and warped into a dark inverse. Zenith to Midnight, Dusk to Dawn, and so forth. They're basically Solars, but with powers focused on murder, destruction, darkness, and death. They're goth/emo Solars.
Rolled 4>>31843665They're darker and edgier Solars.Their charms are version of solar ones, except with more murder, death and negative intimacies.
Rolled 2>>31843675The ones who get into bullshit shitposting fights that keep cropping up? Yes. Absolutely. That or their attention spans are even shorter than I thought and they get into shitposting fights despite also having other entertainment sources available to them because they're impatient about the next update.People are all terrible and all of us are pathetic. We will keep getting into fights, because we're awful - except the people who ignore all the fights. They're halfway decent, but silent, so we don't know how many there even are of those.
Rolled 1>>31843701>People are all terrible and all of us are pathetic. We will keep getting into fights, because we're awfulAgain, you seem to be referring to yourself, since you're arguing this so obsessively after the QM ordered a general STFU.
Rolled 6>>31843701Anon, I'm ignoring the shit out of you and now you're just shitposting for no reason, so shut up and stop derailing the thread after the QM asked you to stop being a faggot.
Rolled 3>>31843665>CoralIt's a semi-puritanical Victorian Britain. Money is king there, the person in charge is almost always the richest, they're sexist and repressive as fuck, and half the pirates in the West work for them on Letters of Marque issued to make them 'privateers' for Coral. They're bad people, but profitable to work with, and a great place to set pirate games. They also mint half the coins in the West because, again, rich as fuck. So, us having a Coral Dinar means basically nothing aside from the fact that we're probably in the West.
You struggle back to your feet on your own, refusing the woman's help. Something about her... and this whole place... makes you a bit uncomfortable. The things that worries you the most, though, is that it's not making you as uncomfortable as it should."...Where am I?"A small smirk dances on her lips in response."Still a bit confused, are you? Well, not a big surprise, with the way your head was messed up and all.""...Messed up...?" And you instinctively lift your hands to your face and head. And now you understand a bit better.A large cloth eyepatch covers the right half of your face. So that's why you were feeling disoriented. The eye hurts, but it's a dull, distant pain.Slowly, the idea that you lost an eye sinks in. You touch your brow just above it, and a pang of pain shoots down your spine. You follow the line up, into your head, and find with your fingers the bumpy feeling of a large, skull-splitting blow, skillfully sutured with very close and narrow stitches. The wound goes all the way almost to the back of your head, but you imagine your hair hides what the large eyepatch doesn't.A sword blow to the head, splitting it in two like an open watermelon. Probably from behind.A ship. A crew. Three hundred talents of Coralian silver in the hold. Too much money, in the same place, at the same time, for sanity."...I died." You realize."You nearly did." Rolled 2>>31844037Originally, dudes wore eye patches because they didn't want to have lit flames below deck, because it was dark as balls down there. So, while above deck, you would wear an eyepatch to preserve your night vision, then flip it up when you went below so you could still see. Rolled 6>>31844210>Follow herThe sooner we meet the person that saved my life, the sooner we can get me undead crew.
Rolled 5>>31844268>cruel, sarcastic crackAre we witty enough for this? If so, I like the sound of a pirate with a heart of gold, a tongue of silver, and a personality of gravel.
Rolled 1>>31844210>Follow herwe're so betraying them once we meet Maka
Rolled 4>>31844327I think that EF would have predicted this, and made it so that betrayal will be CAPITAL-D Difficult. Or it might be as easy as getting into Tianna and then blowing resonance all over the place.
Rolled 1>>31844319>witty enoughIf we're not, just say something like, "You look like a tart in that dress, and your stitchwork is criminal." Be a dick for no other reason than that we're a dick, and we're in a scary, unusual place.
Rolled 4>>31844327>we're so betraying them once we meet MakaI hope so, this guy would wreck our army, he's throwing around 11 dice in combat and has a charm that let's him one shot mortals and another that doubles damage for fighting mass combat units when he's alone
Rolled 1>>31844327>we're so betraying them once we meet MakaDeathlords have something called a Monstrance - it's an artifact tied to each Abyssal exaltation. It stores it when the exaltations aren't in use, and can be used to remotely kill the Abyssal it's bonded to at any time with no save. If any of the Abyssals go rogue and join Maka without first destroying or stealing their Monstrance, they're dead. No save, no take backs.Abyssals have a somewhat shorter leash than Solars.
I'm so used to The Maka in the OP that this thing sat here for a couple hours without me noticing>>31844210>Follow her
>>31844366>>31844319Uhm, my opinion is that planning things beforehead is boring. just let things run naturally with the quest.
Rolled 6>>31844387really? I thought there were traitor deathknights. Did they all destroy their Monstrance?
Rolled 6>>31844403They either destroyed their Monstances or their Deathlords don't give enough of a fuck to kill them (this describes about half the Deathlords). Considering how this one feels about betrayal, though, Captain Funnypants is probably fucked if he doesn't blow his up first. I SO want him to steal his monstrance with his crew of ghost pirates, though, giving his deathlord a big middle finger and a shout of, "I'm a fucking pirate!" as he sails off into the night.
>>31844403It kills the Deathknight, which wastes all the resources the Deathlord has put into them. Experienced Deathknights can get away with more than new ones, as their Deathlord patrons are more likely to try to get them back than kill them.
Rolled 6>>31844387>>31844426Oh yea, back in 1E Monstances could be used to remote kill the Abyssal if the Deathlord got fed up with him. Good thing they retconed that in 2E.
Rolled 3>>31844444>Good thing they retconed that in 2E.No, it didn't.
You follow her along the corridors of the complex you're apparently in. Everything is iron and steel, machinery, chains and wheels and clattering mechanisms. It feels more like being inside a machine than inside a castle, tower, or whatever this is supposed to be. As you finally come across a window, you briefly stop to check outside."...What the heck..."The scenery is brutally alien. Hostile and desolate, with a blood-red sea and blood-red sky. It's hard to tell if it's day or night, despite being dark. Nothing seems to make sense."Yes, we're in the Underworld." Feurdelis nods passing by."So we ARE dead?""We're still alive. We need to breathe and eat. Our heart beats and pumps blood. But the Deathknight's blessing means we are at home here, even moreso than Creation.""Delightful."You stare at the barren landscape outside for a few seconds. Utterly devoid of color, life and joy. Soul-crushingly depressing."...still beats Azure.""She's waiting for you." You're distracted by Feurdelis calling to you. She's at the far end of the corridor, standing in front of an enormous steel door covered in spinning gears and machinery.Pipes run along the roof to and from that room, and one has a window for inspections. You really hope that that red fluid you see flowing there is not blood. You walk up to the door and mentally prepare. You have no idea what to expect.>I should act natural.>I should seek approval.>I should be grateful.>I should be suspicious.>(Other)
>>31844380Tia would completely thrash him, though.
>>31844444Oh yeah, in 2E doesn't remote killing a Deathknight cause the Deathlord to lose control of the Exaltation, meaning that they either have to waste resources hunting it down, or risk losing it to a Rival Deathlord (most Deathlords HATE each other)>>31844467>I should be grateful.Let's not piss off one of the most powerful entities in creation the instant we meet her, okay?
>>31844467>I should act natural.

Rolled 2>>31844467>I should act natural.Let's just not do anything fancy the first time around, after all she does know that we're a pirate.
>>31844467>>I should act natural.Au Naturél.
Rolled 1>>31844467>I should be suspicious. We're literally walking into the domain of death itself. Anything but suspicious would be foolish. Do we want to seem like a fool?

>>31844599You lack sufficient shadowruns
Rolled 1>>31844599>considering that we've been brought back to lifeAccording to THEM. We're taking them on their word. Which is stupid after getting sneak attacked by your own men and thrown off your ship. Be suspicious. We're not Maka, we're a career pirate.
Rolled 1>>31844599>considering that we've been brought back to lifeThat's totally a rason to be suspicious>You brought me back to life>why>what do you want
Rolled 9>>31844622See>>31843982The wound we took was 100% lethal, and we know that, don't be a shit
Rolled 7>>31844644My point is, as far as we know, we're a zombie, or a ghost. There are a ton of other explanations - all of them horrible and shitty - that don't involve us actually being alive. Until we know more, it only makes sense to be suspicious.Don't call be a shit, you assmuncher.
Rolled 5>>31844662I phrased that poorly, I meant don't have our character be a shit. We should at least talk to The person who (supposedly) saved us before we start throwing around accusations
Rolled 1>>31844676We're a career criminal in the land of death itself coming off of a recent massive betrayal. We should take NOTHING at face value, and NOBODY at their word. And I apologize for calling you an assmuncher, I misunderstood what you were saying.
You don't have time to properly rehearse lines: As soon as you're there, Feurdelis opens the door and you're ushered in.And there you find yourself in front of the Tyrant of the Doomsday Machine."Come in." She says. Her voice is rough, slightly mechanical, almost artificial. At the same time, it still manages to be beautiful, so much so that it makes you want to hear it again.Everything here is iron and steel, rust and blood. She sits on a throne of horrible machinery, slouched, staring at you with eyes that shine with an unnatural red glow."Is your head alright?" She asks you, with a dry smile. "If you're ready, you'll have to do the journey. I'll show you the way. If there is anything you need to do or know first, say so.">What journey?>Why did you save my life and made me a Deathknight?>I want vengeance on my crew.>What are your aims?>(other)
Rolled 10>>31844687>What are your aims?Suspicious.
Rolled 8>>31844687>What are your aims?>Why did you save my life and made me a Deathknight?
Rolled 10>>31844687>What journey?>Why did you save my life and made me a Deathknight?>I want vengeance on my crew.>What are your aims?>(other)"Why should I believe anything I've been told so far?"Ask everything. Trust nothing. People lie - assume that everything and anything she says might be a lie too.
Rolled 4>>31844687>What journey?>What are your aims?>Why did you save my life and made me a Deathknight?>I want vengeance on my crew. All the questions, in that order of importance in case we get interrupted before we can get through them all
Rolled 1>>31844687>What journey? I've been told that our pact was about my vengeance...>>31844686>career criminal in the land of death>already dead onceand about what we could be suspicious exactly? being backstabbed and thrown to the fishes?
Rolled 1>>31844687>What journey?
Rolled 6>>31844687>What journey?Well. I looks like they are going to launch a full scale invasion of Tianna
Rolled 9>>31844743>and about what we could be suspicious exactly? being backstabbed and thrown to the fishes?Being used to do something we don't actually want to do. Being strung along with promises of power when we're really a zombie. Being kept around only as raw materials and lied to to keep us from running while we have a chance. There are a TON of things that can still go wrong, that they could still be lying about. The fact that YOU can't think of them doesn't mean that this career criminal wouldn't.Suspicion is how people like this stay alive and free - and a lack of it is how this one died and got enslaved.
>>31844747Well, those kids are dead, no escape route.
Rolled 5>>31844687I'll let Kusocolle slip this time...>Why did you save my life and made me a Deathknight?
Rolled 9>>31844686I bit of Paranoia is normal and healthy given our situation, but I'm willing to give these people the benfit of the doubt until they do something to us, given that they haven't Stabbed us in the eye and thrown us off our own ship to drown, and are probably the ones who saved us from that fate
Rolled 1>>31844747>Well. I looks like they are going to launch a full scale invasion of TiannaNo, all Abyssals go on a journey through the Labyrinth to throw their names into the Abyss after exalting. We just don't know that in-character. It's super meta knowledge - same as knowing about invading Tianna.
>>31844776...I actually didn't knew.
Rolled 10>>31844771>give these people the benfit of the doubtThat's not what a career criminal, pirate, or thief does. They nod and smile and PRETEND to give them the benefit of the doubt while ACTUALLY doubting everything they say and planning for contingencies, just in case.
Rolled 9>>31842876I just noticed, this guy is a lot ore powerful than we were when we just exalted, and I don't just mean having artifacts, which is to be expected from Abyssals. His stats, and abilities being a bit higher could be explained away by having a more dangerous lifestyle, but he has literally twice as many charms as we did, which I just don't get
Rolled 9>>31844884maybe he had xp left over from his live as a mortal?
Rolled 2>>31844927Enough to buy 5 charms?
>>31844884I thought abyssal exaltations ate stronger cause they aren't cleaned after death or something?
Rolled 5>>31844884My guess is that we got supercharged by our Deathlord, or at least got a temp boost in powers for the journey ahead.
Rolled 6>>31844957Solar and Abyssal Exaltaions themselves are 100% equal.Abyssal tend to have access to better Backgrounds, giving them armies and artifacts for free that Solars would have to quest for
You clench your teeth, stand your ground, plant your feet, and ask the Deathlord: "...Journey? ...Why should I trust you?"She seems intrigued by your reply. She steeples her fingers and responds in kind: "I like that question. And I have several answers for it."You fight your instinct of just turning and running away."First of all, don't you think that, if I wanted you dead, I would've just let you drown, instead of saving your life?""...How do I know that you really saved me?""Well, you're alive, aren't you? After a lethal wound-" She stops, and turns to Feurdelis. "...Are you sure it didn't make him stupid?"The Abyssal shrugs. "Doc told me he'd be fine."She returns her attention to you. "Why me, then?" You ask her."Because I like you." She replies. "And because I can use you.""That wasn't part of the deal." You protest."It was. Weren't you saying that you would have done ANYTHING? I granted you life and even made you my champion. Now, since last time we talked we were a bit strapped on time, I'll ask again."She stands up. Even not counting the fact that her throne sits on a slightly raised platform, she's very tall - more than two meters, towering above you."I have given you power, the ability to have your vengeance, life - even immortality, in fact. And I will continue doing so. In exchange, I ask you to serve me, and aid me in my quest.""...What quest?""One of vengeance against those who betrayed me. So, what do you answer? Decide now.">I will serve you.>I will not serve you.
Rolled 8>>31844988>I will serve you.
Rolled 1>>31844988>I will serve you.
Rolled 9>>31844988>I will serve you.
Rolled 6>>31844988>I will serve you.let's not piss off the Giant Scary Lady guys.
Rolled 5>>31844988>I will serve you.Well, we gotta do some evil before we start our redemption arc. Not to mention that we are right in front of a deathlord.
Rolled 5>>31845038>redemption arcThis guy is an ass, I want to kill him, not redeem him.
Rolled 1>>31845061>This guy is an assHe hasn't even done anything yet anon
Rolled 9>>31845070His attitude pisses me off
Rolled 6>>31844988>I will not serve you.
"...I will." You reply."We'll see how honest you are about that." She walks up to you. "For now, you have to make a journey.""...What is this Journey you're talking about?""All deathknights must do it." Feurdelis explains. "We travel across the Labyrinth that lies under the Underworld, and bring your name to the Neverborn for them to devour."The way she said it, so casually, sends shivers down your spine."As much as I hate doing it, it is not something that can be avoided." The Deathlord says. "So, what is your name? You should enjoy it while it lasts. Like all good things in life.">(Name?)>I don't remember my name.
Rolled 3>>31845108>I don't remember my name.We got stabbed in the brain, be lucky we remember how to form coherent sentences
Rolled 9>>31845108>I don't remember my name.
Rolled 6>>31845108>I don't remember my name.I barely remember how I died, much less my name
Rolled 8>>31845070It needs to be a cute/Moe girl before /tg/ can even consider redeeming them
Rolled 8>>31845126>be luckBE thankful, it's LUCKY
Rolled 3>>31845108>I don't remember my name.Brain damage.
Rolled 10>>31845141It's a shame, I still like Phoenix enough to hope we can get him to switch sides, this dude too if we can swing it, it's actually the female Abyssal that can suck Tia giant multi-cock
Rolled 5>>31845141I would redeem Feurdelis or the Maybe-A-Lunar-But-Palbably-A-Day-Caste guy whose name I can't remember before this guy, he's basically been a cunt since he woke up
Rolled 4>>31845108>I don't remember my name.We should get our hands on a journal to write in.
Rolled 6>>31845159>this dude too if we can swing itWhy? He's done nothing but be a dick to everyone since he woke up.
Rolled 4>>31845108Wouldn't not remembering our name kind of put a damper on the whole tossing it into the Abyss deal?
Rolled 6>>31845187He's done basically NOTHING since he woke up. What the fuck is your problem, guy?
Rolled 10>>31845187>Why? He's done nothing but be a dick to everyone since he woke up.No he hasn't, he's been fairly neutral if anything
>>31845199>>31845196They're projecting. They are cunts, so the character they're making decisions for is by definition also a cunt.
"I..." Now that's troubling. "...I don't remember my name."The deathlord and the abyssal look at each other, and then back at you."...I don't think he's lying." Feurdelis points out. "That blow to the head must have been harder than we thought.""I guess that means there's no name for Them to devour." Tyrant smiles."Mistress, I think that's a dangerous view to have. He should still do the journey. I don't like the Neverborn any more than you do, but They might punish him, you, or us all if we don't.""And yet, we have no name to offer to their insatiable hunger." She points at you. "Now this is interesting. It must be a first.""Do I get to pick?" You reply, defiantly."Mh. Yes, why not?" She humors you.>I will do the journey.>I will not do the journey.
Rolled 4>>31845248>I will do the journey.Might be cool
Step 1: Give the name we can't remember to the Neverborn.Step 2: Find our Lunar Mate.
Rolled 5>>31845248>I will do the journey.Because we're as ballsy and reckless as we are suspicious. We don't trust anything, and like to push buttons to see what happens.
Rolled 9>>31845248>I will not do the journey.Stay away from the insane, ommicidal elder gods people.
Rolled 6>>31845196>>31845199They saved this guys life, and in return he's been basically trying to figure out a way out of the bargain without even asking what they want from him, and overall acting extremely hostile for no reason>>31845223I realize this is anon's fault, doesn't mean it isn't happening.>>31845248>I will do the journey.
Rolled 2>>31845248>I will not do the journey.I'm more interested in seeing what the Abyssals are up to
Rolled 4>>31845293>They saved this guys life, and in return he's been basically trying to figure out a way out of the bargain without even asking what they want from him, and overall acting extremely hostile for no reasonNo, he's been acting untrustworthy of necromancers with massive leverage over everything. And he acted that way for exacly one post. He hasn't even been awake for half an hour yet.Chill the fuck out.
>>31845248>I will not do the journey.Metal tits seems to think that it would be a good thing if we don't go on the journy, lets go with her as she seems to want good things for us.
Rolled 1>>31845248>>I will do the journey.
Rolled 1>>31845309so you're saying he has prejudices against necromancers? What a dick
Rolled 9>>31845323>prejudices against necromancersSuper justified in Creation. This is not one of those settings where necromancy is ethically neutral and doesn't hurt anybody.
Rolled 1>>31845248>I will not do the journey.>I don't like the Neverborn any more than you doIt's nice to see them being so open about this
>>31845248>I will not do the journey. If they take offense to it, we'll deal with it when we get there. If we regain our memory, do the journey if it comes up. We can't give them anything we don't have, and it's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission.
Rolled 1>>31845330Definitely. I like Deathlords who are nuanced and out for other things (like vengeance) and not just "RAR DESTROY ALL THE CREATED THINGS"
Rolled 7>>31845352Agreed. This is already one of the coolest deathlords.
Rolled 3>>31845323Not just necromancersOur dude recognized the name Deathknight, emissaries of Death, he knows these are THE bad guys of Creation, and they brought him back to life and want something from him
Rolled 6>>31845248>I will not do the journey.Weakly wisecrack "What's the worst that can happen?"
Rolled 8>>31845248>I will do the journey.Only because I want to see what EF does with it. He's already taken a slightly different stance on UCS.And maybe our guy, despite being suspicious, does want to show a little gratitude for not being dead.
Rolled 6>>31845362>THE bad guys of CreationBut anon, that's not how you spell Green Sun Prince
Rolled 8>>31845383>Green Sun PrinceThose guys aren't trying to destroy Creation, they're trying to put the old bosses back in charge. Also, unlike Abyssals, nobody knows that they exist yet in-setting. The Neverborn, Deathlords, and Deathknights are THE badguys of Creation - ESPECIALLY as far as the common man knows. They're the epitome of Anathema.
Rolled 3>>31845383I'm still hoping for a Yandere Infernal with Adorjan charms to show up and fall for Maka.
Rolled 10>>31845404Don't Infernals have and easier time being free of their masters anyway? At least I'm pretty sure Yozis don't have an instant death button for their GSPs
Rolled 4>>31845405>wanting to lose Maka's super amazing bodyBut no that sounds kinda fun
Rolled 3>>31845367Nah. Gratitude goes out the window when it's a exchange. Your life for eternal service. The sane deathknights tend to do everything they can to find some sort of loophole or break the leash in some way.
>>31845248>I will not do the journey.
Rolled 7>>31845447Yeah, that's a fair point. Especially if we want this guy joining Team Maka one day (which I also guess depends on who this Deathlord wants vengeance on).
Rolled 9>>31845420yes, basically every Infernal is expected to desert sooner or later. That's why the yozi gave them VERY short lifespanns
Rolled 8>>31845420>Don't Infernals have and easier time being free of their masters anyway?Yes. A super easy time, in fact, since their only leash is circumvented by acting like a supervillain/superhero.
Rolled 7>>31845486>That's why the yozi gave them VERY short lifespannsWell, very short for a Celestial exalt. Still long for a human, and it gets longer the higher their Essence goes.
>>31844988>I will not do the journey.Anything to keep us out of their grasp.
"Well then, I guess if they really want my name they'll have to come here and get it. I mean..." And you smile, for the first time in a long time it feels, "...what's the worst that can happen?"The two of them stare at you for a few seconds, then Tyrant starts chuckling."...I knew you were a good choice." She says. "Once you'll be back in top shape, then, you'll be part of our next operation.""What kind of operation?" You ask. "What are you taking on? A ship? A fleet?"Well, you assume so. If she wanted you, it means she needed a pirate. Right?"An island." Feurdelis replies. "We're going to take Tianna."That doesn't make any sense. "...Tianna's not a particularly rich nation, and has a strong army and Essence artillery. Seems like a bad choice.""Good, his brain is working fine." The deathlord grins. "And you are right. But we're not after money or land. Did you ever wonder WHERE did Tianna get those weapons?""I just assumed they had stumbled into a cache. There's stories of people finding them all over Creation. Maybe someone there just got lucky." You frown. "You're after the cache.""Not the cache itself, but where it came from." She replies. "But Feurdelis will inform you of the plan later, when she deems it appropriate. She's in charge when I'm not around, is that clear?""It's going to take a bit to get everything ready for the plan, anyway" The abyssal adds. "So you're on some free time until we go.">Then, I want a ship and some men.>I think I'll rest. I need it.>...I want to explore the Underworld a bit, then.>I want to know more about this operation.>Who else serves the Tyrant apart for us two?>I have some questions. (what?)>(other)
Rolled 4>>31845640>Who else serves the Tyrant apart for us two?>Then, I want a ship and some men.
Rolled 3>>31845640>Who else serves the Tyrant apart for us two?>Then, I want a ship and some men. They've mentioned a Doc twice before, I guess they have someone that knows Abyssal MedicinePrepare for fucking NECROTECH
Rolled 9>>31845640>I want to know more about this operation.>Who else serves the Tyrant apart for us two?
Rolled 8>>31845640>The two of them stare at you for a few seconds, then Tyrant starts chuckling.>"...I knew you were a good choice."...I like the Tyrant. And I like our guy too. Alright, I'm on board for this.>"Not the cache itself, but where it came from."Thrilling!>Then, I want a ship and some men. What's a captain without a ship?
Rolled 2>>31845640>Then, I want a ship and some men. Can't be much of a pirate without a crew
>>31845640>I want to know more about this operation.>Who else serves the Tyrant apart for us two?
Rolled 3>>31845640>I want to know more about this operation.>Who else serves the Tyrant apart for us two?I wonder what he's gonna end up being named
Rolled 10Am I the only one that thinks that us playing the antag against the protag and then going back to playing the protag is a bad thing?Because its going to get meta as fuck or we're just going to end up murdering Maka.
>>31845640>Then, I want a ship and some men.>I want to know more about this operation.>Who else serves the Tyrant apart for us two?>I have some questions. (what?)What other assets are being used in this endeavor. How many ships etc.
Rolled 1>>31845804>Because its going to get meta as fuck or we're just going to end up murdering Maka.Por que no los dos?
>>31845804I wouldn't be too worried anon I suspect this is us taking control of a secondary protag. We don't HAVE to commit to murdering Maka with this guy, we can in fact play him as the pirate he was in mortal life.We earn our deathlord's trust and then WHAM. Thank you for the Monstrance we have a zero return policy.
Rolled 10>>31845836I'd much rather he stay a loyal deathnight, it's more interesting to me
Rolled 6>>31845836>We earn our deathlord's trust and then WHAM. Thank you for the Monstrance we have a zero return policy.Which is SUCH a pirate thing to do. Seriously, sailing off into the night with our Monstrance under one arm and the other lofting a middle finger? That's a fantastic letter of resignation.
>>31845843Fair enough, it's too early to tell how we're going to play this fellow anyway so we'll desecrate that bridge with infernal ritual sacrifice when we get to it.Personally i'm hoping for him to go rogue. He doesn't attempt to get in touch with his glorious solar roots and become good or whatever. He just sails off with his own Monstrance and becomes a feared and powerful pirate lord. He by no means has to be a nice guy. But I'd imagine a career pirate would chafe under the direction and control of someone with an essence cannon to the back of their heads and would get out the instant the realistic opportunity presented itself.

>>31844884Deathknights are the servants of the Deathlords, who are the servants of the Neverborn. The Neverborn used to be Primordials. The entities that created all of Creation, the Gods, the Heavens, and everything that isn't the Wyld. The Neverborn are the ones who 'died' in the primordial war. They are reduced in power, but still omnipotent enough to create other omnipotent things. Abyssals have all the powers they would have had as a starting solar (but inverted into death-themed powers instead of Life and Creativity) PLUS a booster shot of never losing the memories and skills of their previous lives, andthe blessings of the entities that inadvertently created the concept of 'permanent death', which was never supposed to exist ever. Abyssals may be hobbled by their ties to the Void and Neverborn and Deathlords, but they generally start out in a much better position than an equivalent Solar, if only because they are guaranteed safety in the Underworld and have a place to retreat to.The Infernals are even more powerful.
Rolled 9>>31846018>The Infernals are even more powerful.Same power level, actually. Solars, Abyssals, and Solars are all the exact same power level. They just differ in amount of infrastructural support they get out the box.
Rolled 6>>31846018The guy has been an Abyssal for less than a day and has 10 charms, we had 5 after our Exaltation stabilized, I'm calling bullshit
Rolled 1>>31846062>The guy has been an Abyssal for less than a day and has 10 charms, we had 5 after our Exaltation stabilized, I'm calling bullshitThe explanation is simple. Exaltedfag is starting us off power powerful with this guy so we don't get too bored and so Maka has a solid rival. It's entirely meta. There's no fluff reason for him to be starting more powerful.
Rolled 3>>31846080>There's no fluff reason for him to be starting more powerful. And that makes me upset
"...Is it just the two of us here?" You ask Feurdelis, as you both walk out of the room. You thought audience with a Deathlord would have shaken you more than this, but maybe... you're getting used to how crazy the world around you has become."Pardon?" She asks."Who else is there, other than the two of us? As far as deathknights go.""Well, there's you, me, Doc, Phoenix, and Speaker. Although Phoneix is off doing recon in Tianna and Speaker is out on her own time. Mistress is still looking for other candidates, but for now, we have a Perfect Circle.""Huh." You're surprised. "I thought we were kept on a much shorter leash.""The leash will be shorter for you, since you're a newcomer." She explains. "But we get a lot of leeway. Anyway, only Doc is in the base right now. He's the one who stitched you together. Apart for them, Mistress has a lot of other servants both mortal and ghostly, and a variety of undead at her command. Though she usually prefer quality over quantity, we always aim for both." Short pause. "Also, we have an armored airship."Whoa. "...And you still didn't take Tianna?""There were... complications." She sighs. "That are getting more and more complicated. A lot of Exalted and other essence-users are starting to swarm around Tianna now. The job's going to be hard.""Why don't you just strike the place from high altitude? If we can fly." You point out."We don't want to damage the city too much, or kill too many people." Is her reply."...Why? I mean, I thought Deathknight were...""Callous and with no regard for human life?" She replies. "Some are, some aren't. There are practical reasons that we don't bomb the island to Malfeas and back, but Mistress ha also explicitly asked me to keep the damage low if possible, and I intend to follow that order. Besides, city's more valuable to us alive than dead.""And when will you let me know why?" You ask."When I'll know I can trust you." She points out.(cont.)

>>31846080>>31846062>>31846049Actually Deathlords, and the Neverborn, have memories of EVERY CHARM EVER CREATED. Ripped from the minds of dead people who knew them in life. It's entirely possible for a Neverborn or Deathlord to teach its minions powers that haven't been seen since the First Age. Even FORCE them to learn it whether they like it or not (IIRC a Neverborn did that to a Solar who challenged it once, forcibly implanted the knowledge of every Abyssal charm ever into his mind and shuffled him off into the labyrinth to go mad.)>>31846049Infernals are vastly more powerful in standard Exalted. Because they don't have skill-based charms. They have conceptual charms drawn from the Yozis themselves. They can apply their powers to any action that fits with their Patron's Modus Operandi. They have almost no limitations.
Rolled 8>>31846165>the setting HE createdHe didn't create the setting, he's just using a premade.>pinnacle of shit storytellingI guess? He's making a character sufficiently-powerful to counteract our character. A man who can single-handedly take on an army of Tiger Warriors? Who does that sound like he's the nemesis to?
Rolled 5>>31846166>Infernals are vastly more powerful in standard Exalted. Because they don't have skill-based charms. They have conceptual charms drawn from the Yozis themselves. They can apply their powers to any action that fits with their Patron's Modus Operandi. They have almost no limitations. Except that's only true for their excellencies. Most of their charms are WAY more narrow than normal Solaroid charms, and in the base system, Solars can usually kick the shit out of them. Fluffwise, they're the same power level.
>>31846202Agree to disagree?

You're still in shock." She nods to herself. You take a deep breath, trying to calm yourself. "...If you want me to fight, I'll need a ship and a crew.""Already planning on getting back at those guys who cracked your skull open?" She smirks.>Yes.>I just want to keep being a pirate. Rolled 7>>31846239>Yes.>I just want to keep being a pirate. It's my life. And I have some free time, you said.I don't see the difference between these two answers
Rolled 7>>31846231No? You're just plain wrong. The Infernal excellencies are broad, but situationally limited and cost a number of charm slots equal to the user's Essence. And their actual charms are very limited and their charmsets lack a lot of important options that Solars have entirely. Mechanically, in the actual system, they're weaker than Solars - that's just a fact.Abyssals suffer from a similar set of problems, because they just have Solar charms narrowed down to being deathy/murderous.Fluffwise, they're the same power level, and that's probably how they're handled in this quest too.If this was subjective, I'd agree to a compromise, but mechanics aren't subjective.

I'm going to need to get used to my new self and my new crew, or I won't be able to do what you brought me to do. Rolled 8>>31846377This is the Underworld, not hell. Those are two different places in this setting.
>>31846377Hell is Malfeas. This is the Underworld.
Rolled 6>>31846427To be fair, hell is also pretty nice if you're rich/powerful enough.
Rolled 1>>31846377the 'christian' version of hell doesn't exist in Exalted. Quick primer on Exalted's Cosmology: We're in the Underworld. A mirror-image-negative of Creation. It exists as a shadowy double of the living world created when several of the Primordials (closest analogue: Greek titans or Hindu Overgods) were slain by Solars and Lunars in the Primordial War. As they were never 'born' and thus cannot 'die', Creation's cycle of reincarnation didn't apply to them, and they broke the whole system by crashing a whole in reality and spiraling down towards Oblivion, absolute Nothingness. They've been teetering on the brink of it for millennia now, plotting to grab hold of the rest of Reality and drag it in with them when they finally go. The surviving Primordials (each a living universe unto themselves) where mutilated and enslaved with chains made out of unbreakable oaths. Their leader, Malfeas, was turned inside out and hollowed out and the others imprisoned inside him for all eternity to rage and rampage amongst themselves with their demons (Demons and gods are the same thing, just serving different masters. Demons serve the Yozis, Gods serve themselves and Gaia). So Malfeas and his brothers built a city and plan (fruitlessly so far) to drag all of creation into their prison so they can get revenge on their creations for betraying them. Only 2 primordials escaped either death or mutilation. Gaia, whose body was used by the other primordials as the building blocks they made Creation out of, and Autocthon who designed most of Creation's more hospitable elements (as well as most life including humans) and happened to be the one who created Exaltation in the first place. He's gone all 'hookers and blackjack', left creation, then slipped into a degenerative coma that's killing him slowly, so he's pretty much a non-issue at this point. His confused sub-gods and mortal nations within his vast self-contained universe? They're a problem.

"Of course I am." You reply. She smiles. "Follow me."You do so, through twisty, angular corridors and bizarre rooms full of pipes and machines, and down several flights of stairs, until you reach what seems to be a harbor. A vast room filled with blood-red water, several ships floating on its surface. There are boxes and barrels of assorted supplies and the cranes and warehouses that every port has, with the difference that all of this is inside a building. The scale boggles your mind. While you're still looking at the ships, of which are of all kinds - triremes, junks, small messenger ships, sailing vessels - you also notice that the workers in this dock seem to be...Well, it takes you a moment, but then you realize: what they are is, it seems, ghosts leading and directing the work of several groups of zombies, who do the heavy lifting. It's all very efficient, and very similar to a "normal" port, but still...One of the ghosts, noticing the two of you, approaches. She is tall and white, evanescent and weightless. She doesn't seem a simple worker or employee, and carries herself with an air of grace and nobility."Welcome back, miss Feurdelis." She looks at you. "And you must be the new Chosen of our Mistress. >>31847693This guy gets it>>31847705shit, all my navy dreams have been crushed
Rolled 4>>31847705Hue. Nice thread, EF.>>31847716No EXP during the timeskip.
Rolled 1>>31847722>No EXP during the timeskip.But... This isn't timeskip.
Rolled 9>>31847705Thanks for the thread as always EF
>>31847516>>Of course you should. I happen to have a few ideas.Belts, and only belts.>Nah, I was just kidding. Gather the crew and let's set sail for vengeance.
Rolled 1>>31847733No EXP for MAKA during the timeskip.Given that the Baron isn't the MC, we can't control his upgrades.
>>31847733This isn't Maka though. I think what we were doing was establishing the basic characterization of someone we're going to meet as Maka pretty soon.
Rolled 1>>31847757>>31847761I was asking about experience and charms for the Baron. Obviously we're not getting any for Maka.
Rolled 1>>31847772He isn't the MC. Therefore, we have no control over what selecting new charms, if any, that he gets.
Rolled 7>>31847780That's a cool assumption. But I was asking EF because I'm not planning on making assumptions about that.
>>31847772That was my point though. I'm thinking we aren't going to actually control this guy often if at all so his charm and attribute growth are not going to be chosen by us.
Rolled 4>>31847705Is this gonna be Baron's only thread?I kinda wanted to see what he thought of Maka when he saw herI really like these threads EF, where were not controlling Maka, since I really like outside POV's, especialy since we usually only see things from one point of view
>>31847719I would have loved to get more done, but the damn argument ate a lot of postcount and made the thread autosage sooner than expected, plus i couldn't post as often as i had hoped.>>31847772Baron's a NPC, yes.>>31847802>Is this gonna be Baron's only thread?Maybe.>>31847802>I really like these threads EF, where were not controlling Maka, since I really like outside POV's, especialy since we usually only see things from one point of viewExactly my point. I've always had good feedback when doing this kind of things on tabletop. So, first thread of the month's gonna be one where you play as someone else.
Rolled 2>>31847802Agreed. This thread actually piqued my interest in abyssals.

Rolled 2>>31847896We probably have to meet one first>implying we haven't already
Rolled 8>>31847853>I would have loved to get more done, but the damn argument ate a lot of postcount and made the thread autosage sooner than expected, plus i couldn't post as often as i had hoped. In the mood for a second thread, then?
Rolled 9>>31847853>So, first thread of the month's gonna be one where you play as someone else.Yay!
>>31847929>In the mood for a second thread, then?Don't think I'll do one, not feeling in the bood and a bit of a headache making it worse. I'll stay around for Q&A until this thread expires, best I can do.I'm also going to be busy both weekend and monday, so next thread will be into next week sometime.
Rolled 3>>31847980>I'm also going to be busy both weekend and monday, so next thread will be into next week sometime. That answer hurts my soul.Anyway, care to comment on why this dude was strong as fuck compared to starting Maka? Is it for any special fluff reasons, or the meta reason of wanting him to be sufficiently badass?
>>31848000>Anyway, care to comment on why this dude was strong as fuck compared to starting Maka? Is it for any special fluff reasons, or the meta reason of wanting him to be sufficiently badass?"Starting Maka" is a nebulous concept. This system is not tabletop Exalted, so it doesn't have a specific, strictly defined "starting point" for Exaltation so that everyone rolling up a character starts off at the same rough level of power and has the same number of toys to play with. Here, there's just one PC, and it's Maka. That's really all that matters, so there's no real concept of "starting character" in the system. That's the meta reason. The ingame reason is "You don't know. If Baron and Maka ever meet and start taking and discussing their powers and they both realize that there was a large gap in power between them when their Exaltation happened, it will become relevant and you might want to discuss it and find the reason.Maybe not all exaltations are identical. Maybe Tyrant has been sleep-training Baron and that's why he was having nightmares and feeling all his body in pain. Maybe Maka's exaltation works differently from all others because of some ancient sorcery or curse of fate. Maybe Baron actually exalted a year ago and hit his head in combat, or trying to reach a jar on a high shelf, and lost his memories, and they're all pretending he's newly exalted because of some manipulative reason. Maybe the sheet i wrote is a complete lie to misdirect you, because after all, did you end up using any of that stuff? Maybe Maka is actually stronger than she is, but a lot of her potential is locked up for some reason, in await of some specific event.Or a billion more reasons.
Rolled 7>>31848132Maybe that's why she's improving so fucking fast. Seriously, her rate of growth has been through the roof, even for an exalt.
Rolled 6>>31848132Hey EF how long has it been since Maka Exalted?
>>31848193Counting the timeskip, and eyeballing it a bit, about five, six weeks.
Rolled 10>>31848132How well known is Maka outside of Tianna, Denzik knew about her through rumors and stuff and she's mentioned how open she's been about being a Solar, so I was wondering how far out she's known
>Perfect Circle of Abyssals>Forming Circle of Solars>Lunars abound>One IslandI bet the Sidereals did this.
Rolled 4>>31848252I bet a portal to Autochthonia is about to open on the island
>>31848242It's hard for Maka to tell, but she has Influence 3, meaning that word of her is going around and is probably widespread throughout the West by now.
Rolled 2>>31848252Either that or someone is gonna flip their shit when they show upWe almost have a perfect circle of Lunars too, I think were just missing one
Rolled 5>>31848292A perfect circle of Lunars has only 3 members, because there's only 3 castes (and casteless)
>>31848313More like a triangle then
Rolled 8>>31848285EF, can we get Maka's new character sheet?
Rolled 9>>31848404>>31848285Oh yeah, last thread we were wondering how you were gonna handle distributing those 4 points, were you gonna do that or were you going to let us decide
Rolled 5>>31848404I know we got Social 4, but have we distributed the background points yet?
Rolled 10>>31848252SOMETHING did this. It's absolutely fucking impossible that all of this came about naturally. We have - at current count - 8 Solaroids, 3 Lunars, a fae court, and at least a dozen Dragonblooded all interested in Tianna. Something is happening here, and it isn't just normal interest. People have been showing up even before someone exalted here - and then a Solar exalted here!Something big is happening in Tianna, and it's not just Maka.
Rolled 3>>31848404Oh, shit yes, this. We need to distribute those background points, if we haven't yet.
Honestly I'm a bit undecided between letting you guys allocate these points, and just waiting a bit and then popping them in based on what happens. What do you people think? In any case those backgrounds will have to get some input to happen... for example with Resources: the money isn't just going to magically materialize, there'll have to be a reason.
>>31848483Either is fine. The most popular vote seemed to be Resources 1, Followers 1, Cult 2, though, collectively represented by a massive religious recruitment and funding operation courtesy of miss Pyre Flame. It ties together pretty nicely, I think.
Rolled 3>>31848483Justifying improved backgrounds is trivial.Allies: Just bump up the dot since it's understatted anyway.Cult: Maka's presence and fame attracting more members to join.Resources: Donations from the citizens of Tianna.
Rolled 3>>31848483> waiting a bit and then popping them in based on what happens.I'm against this for one reason: It implies we need to improve out Social stat to improve our backgrounds, which just doesn't make since using any kind of justification, and will be inconvienent once we hit social 5 (or whatever max social is after we improve our essence) and can't improve it anymore
Rolled 2Archive here:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/31842876
Rolled 1>>31848764I guess that's actually 2 reasons
>>31848483I'd still like to understand what an improved familiar score would mean
>>31848483>Honestly I'm a bit undecided between letting you guys allocate these points, and just waiting a bit and then popping them in based on what happens. What do you people think?Well, just popping them in based on what happens seems to be exactly how things happen without bonus points. Which kinda renders bonus points pointless.
>>31848811I don't think Familiar even counts as a social background for this purpose. It's a mental/mystical one.
Rolled 10>>31848772Whoever archived that messed up the tagsThe thread where we played as Tia set the precedent that when we switch characters, we add their Caste (Dusk) and Exalt type (Abyssal) to the tags
>>31848890Well, then that should be stated. I want a basic explanation of what the options are, and would be the obvious effects of increasing them.
>>31848916You get what you got? Seems simple.
>>31848446>3 lunarsFour. Mikey's mate showed up last thread.
Rolled 1>>31848838Yeah this is what I'm a little worried about, if we would have gotten those points anyway because of something we did then what's the point of them, I don't mind an in-story explanation of course, but I want to be sure we got them because of the bonus points
>>31848976Yeah, it shouldn't require in-game time and effort. They should just sort of fall into our lap naturally as a result of being twice as charming as the most interesting mundane man in the world. Anything else and they're not bonus points at all.
>>31848916When you increase Social you get to increase all backgrounds, not only the social ones.a higher Familiar rating means a more powerful familiar. In this context, it means Silk will grow more powerful either personally or in resources at her disposal (servants, artifacts, gossamer). The full list of backgrounds is: Allies, Artifacts, Cult, Familiar, Followers, Influence, Manse, Mentor, Resources. And, I think I'll let you people allocate those background points. Thread's on page 9 now, so that's something for another thread to decide i guess.
>>31848956What are the mechanical benefits of having a cult in this system: We don't knowWill getting an additional dot of allies give us another exalted or will it be taken up by an existing exalt? No ideaCan we get an improved familiar background, and what would it do? No ideaCan we grab an artifact background? *shrug*
Rolled 8>>31849028How does artifact attunement work with our limited essence?
>>31849035>What are the mechanical benefits of having a cult in this system: We don't knowFaster Essence regeneration and having, you know, a bunch of people worshiping you as a deity. Plus gaining some perks of deity status along the way.>>31849035>Will getting an additional dot of allies give us another exalted or will it be taken up by an existing exalt? No ideaNot much of a difference if your new allies are new people or old people that now will be allies. (f'r ex, Zareen and Swallow don't count as such because they don't trust you completely yet)>>31849035>Can we get an improved familiar background, and what would it do? No ideaYou mean "improving our familiar background"? explained above.>>31849035>Can we grab an artifact background? *shrug*Yes.
>>31849028Actually what does our current Cult rating do, in core 1 dot in cult restores willpower, which isn't a thing here
I'm thinking 2 Artifact and 2 Cult
>>31849028You might want to rebalance the Allies background to take into account that there is only 1 PC. In a normal game you'd start out with 4 other solars before buying a single dot in background.
>>31849088This Quest has no attunement (except for really, really enormous artifacts)
>>31849104>Can we grab an artifact background? *shrug*>Yes.Okay so if we want God-kicking Boots and Smashfist, they would cost us 2 dots of Artifacts, each being 1-dotOther than that I'm thinking bump Cult up to three dots
>>31849104Well, then at least one or two points need to go into Artifact, and I'd like to seal the deal with Zareen. We want to be able to implicitly trust our assassin and we WANT artifact weapons.
>>31849119>Actually what does our current Cult rating do, in core 1 dot in cult restores willpower, which isn't a thing hereSlightly faster essence regen, the fact that some people actually think you're a god, and gods are starting to acknowledge the fact.
>>318490282 in cult, 1 in resources, 1 in followers.
>>31849148>>31849156We could so 2 into Artifact, 1 into Allies, and 1 into CultI'm sure we could raise Cult and Allies up on our own though
>>31849205Nah, we definitely want some Artifact since it's available.
>Baron is setting sail before he gets any real specific orders.Maybe he'll help us against the Lintha before we become enemies.
Rolled 9>>31849212I hope we can raise Artifacts on our own, otherwise we'll never get a Royal Warstrider with 5 dots in AI
>>31849212I'm in favor of Resources or Familiar instead of cult. There's a lot of fun stuff you can do with a powerful fae
>>31849237We do have a Solar Crafter, as soon as we start getting Magical Material she can start building us nice shit
>>31849212Sounds solid, but I'd rather do Resources than Cult. We're pretty cash strapped at the moment, what with manse construction, and have a better skillset for winning cultists than earning money.
>>31849224That is the full list but i don't think it is available until we find some artifacts in story.
Rolled 8Guys GuysCheck the last sentence of >>31849028We're not voting on backgrounds until next thread
>>31849224Getting Artifacts with points is boring. It's like to Ye Olde Magic Shop in D&D, totally less fun than just adapting your strategies to the relics you pull out of draconic hordes.
>>31849251The entire point is that these backgrounds fall into our lap instead of us having to hunt them down and work for them. If we take Artifact, week get them as a free gift from the Twilight or some shit.
>>31849282How the fuck else are we going to get them? Artifacts are rare as balls. At least we can work towards the other backgrounds on our own.
>>31849275Yeah but we can still discuss them>>31849248I do agree we could raise cult on our own, but if were switching out I'd rather pick up Familiar than Resources, we do have some plans to make money, both the land deal with Denzik and raiding Black Atoll, even if the latter doesn't work once the devil ship is down Tianna could do trade much easier, especially with and Eclipse helping us out
>>31849309We're sitting on a First Age cache, bub. Use your thinkparts.
Rolled 1>>31849282Yeah, but think about this quests pacing, this isn't like sitting down at a table where raiding a tomb takes a session or two, we would likely be doing it for several threads if we went tomb raiding here, and not everyone wants that
Rolled 2>>31849331The cache doesn't have any non essence weapons, we learned that from Irene the first time we asked
>>31849318I think I should point out that the way Allies scales means that its ridiculously easy to acquire more, since its the only background that scales linearly.
>>31849331We tried to raid that cache in the second or third thread. They don't have any personal scale weapons left. Just artillery and the stuff Irene and Amata use. We have had ZERO opportunity to lay our hands on some artifacts up to this point. This is our best - and possibly only - chance for the next who-knows-how-many threads.
Rolled 3>>31849318I also like the idea of bumping Familiar. Silk is our dependable source of income and resources, so I'd like to see her be as effective as possible.
>>31849367I'm also sure we could get Zareen and Swallow on our side too, Zareen might be pretty close to trusting us, we just have to work on RS
>>31849358>>31849331>>31849384There's also the fact that this Magitech-themed Deathlord just finished forming a Perfect Circle to go after what lies under the cache.
>>31849367Which, as a side note, means it caps out way too fast.
>>31849407Yeah! Maybe we only have to wait another 30 threads to see them again! Fuck that. If we don't get artifacts now, there's a good chance it'll be as good as never.
I want to dump all 4 in artifact1 for Smashfist1 For god kicking bootsand2 for a set of discreet essence armor modified to look like pic relatedand before people start saying it's too slutty, let me say that it protects our modesty better than our tabbard, as we at least wouldn't be flashing people every time we moved
>>31849468stop pushing for that horrible pic
>>31849468I will forever say no to this armor
Rolled 2>>31849468I prefer this, albeit without the panties.
>>31849487>>31849488>>31849495What is wrong with it? Can you at least tell me that?
>>31849468I don't want armor that requires essence to activate and periodic repair. If essence were as easy to recover in this quest as it is in Exalted, it would be fine, but it's not, so your idea is shit. Discreet Essence Armor can suck a dick compared to spending that essence on our defense charms instead.
Rolled 8>>31849505Does this quest have Perfect Defense charms?
>>31849512No, but our soak charms are a much better use of our extremely limited essence than discreet essence armor.
>>31849468>let me say that it protects our modesty better than our tabbard, as we at least wouldn't be flashing people every time we movedOnly technically, the point of the Tabard isn't how much it actually hides our body, but how much it looks like it hides, when we're standing or walking we flash side boob and a lot of leg, but when were fighting or running or dancing is when we start flashing people, but that's the pointThis armor is just all there all the time, it doesn't suggest anything or pretend it's just, there
>>31849505>>31849516Ir would do the same thing as our defense charms, you can chose not to activate it, and it's automatic activation would protect us from surprise attacksI'm just trying to think of a way for us to keep Maka's impractically sexy wardrobe while still being protected
>>31849512I'm pretty sure we can pick some up once we hit Zenith 5
>>31849556Also, EF said that armor and Soak charms stack the same way weapons and damage boosting charms do
>>31849512yes, no scene long ones though. However normal damage is capped at 3.
>>31849512No, that was made clear from the first thread.
>>31849503It looks terrible>>31849501That would be nice
>>31849556Then just buy more soak charms! There's no need to try to hamfistedly cram stripper jewelry into the quest as really shitty, too-expensive-to-actually-activate armor. It's dumb, and mechanically bad for someone who already has soak charms eating up her EXTREMELY limited essence supply.
>>31849501That doesn't look like armor or something that could be made into maitech, making it useless for protection
>>31849501We can just get gossamer armor that looks like that. No reason to spend artifact dots on it if that's all we want. Gossamer is all about armor that's just a cool outfit.
>>31849635Soak doesn't stack with itself, we need soak and armor if we want maximum protection
Rolled 2>>31849638I thought we wanted armor that didn't require Essence to use.
>>31849669I'm the one who suggested >>31849468, it's not like we ever use our essence for anything anyway, we've run out once in the whole quest
>>31849664Yes, it does, actually. Armor is also just soak, and instant or permanent soak effects stack with scene-long ones. Armor that requires essence to activate, though, is fucking worthless to us, because we barely have enough for our current buffs and attack charms. If you want armor, figure something out that just plain works.
>>31849709We consistently have essence problems in fights, which is the only time when that armor would be used. Between buffs and attack charms, we never seem to have enough during actual action. Peace time stuff is when we never spend our essence.
We could do something like Xena armor, it's not as lewd as I would like, but if it would be our dedicated fighting armor instead of something we always wear, it might work
>>31849722>Yes, it does, actually.I'm not talking about in general, I'm talking about in this questBut you know what? Fuck it, you win, I don't care enough to argue about this anymore, we'll go armorless
Rolled 3>>31849782This isn't bad.
>>31849794I'm taking about this quest too. EF explicitly spelled out that all our soak charms stack if we get multiple soak charms. Also, good, your idea was shit. If we get armor, it should be real armor, or gossamer stuff that looks like clothes, not your overpriced magitech trash.
>>31849782We should get gossamer armor. It wouldn't eat up artifact dots, wouldn't cost essence, would look like a fucking sweet outfit of our choosing, and wouldn't have any more mobility penalty than normal clothes. It's the obvious choice for Maka.
>>31849835Lets just get Breastplate
>>31849835>EF explicitly spelled out that all our soak charms stack if we get multiple soak charms.I don't remember that, and in fact remember the exact opposite of that, but I've already deleted the picture because the only reason I had it was because I thought it would make good armor for Maka.
>>31849871I think this was the original plan before we started talking about armor, we get Smashfist and God-kicking boots for two dots and put the other two elsewhere
>>31849835>>31849871>>31849906If gossamer provides armor, aren't we already protected? Unless it actually needs to be practical, in which case forget it, because I refuse to give up on Maka's mild exhibitionist tendencies
>>31849895Well, you remember super fucking wrong, and I don't give a shit about your whiny, passive-agressive picture deletion. If you want her to have body jewelry like that picture, I'm on board for it - it looks fucking hot. It's the shitty magitech armor idea that's fucking terrible and dumb.
>>31849906Or we could dump all four in Artifact and get Wings of the Raptorhttp://exaltedpast.wikidot.com/artifact:wingsoftheraptorI'm joking of course
>>31849938I wan't trying to be passive-aggressive, I was responding to your active-aggression by saying you don't need worry about me bringing it up again as I no longer have the image
>>31849930No, because we requested clothes instead of armor. If we requested it, we could get a ballgown that protects like chain swathing or a t-shirt that protects like breastplate. The only requirement is that it had to cover the same area as the armor it's emulating - no full plate nipple clamps.
>>31849981I say keep it around to suggest body jewelry later. Just drop the Discreet Essence Armor idea. Like I said, it's hot - as jewelry.
>>31849987>The only requirement is that it had to cover the same area as the armor it's emulating - no full plate nipple clamps. So it's impossible for Maka to have armor that doesn't repress her inner exhibitionist without spending essence.Oh well, to bad I guess.
>>31850211Our Corset/Tabard could be refitted to armor, it's has decent coverageThat's probably why we haven't actually worn it yet
