Catch up here:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Pacific+Rim%2C+Evangelion%2C+CrossoverOur 1d4chan page is here:http://1d4chan.org/wiki/JAEVA_project
We've got a decent amount of fluff written up, along with the basics of a system based on WoD.Now we're trying to flesh out the various NPCs involved in the universe, along with any connection the two organizations have.
>>31812335That only links to the first thread.>>31812225>>31812231This is an idea I can get behind. Perhaps the first generation of the Pons System didn't use the Gel, which made successful Neural Handshakes much harder. Afterwards a mysterious supplier arrives with Relay Gel (LCL), which dramatically improves Drift performance>I feel though that AdEVA, regardless of other flaws, did have a good idea in providing an outline of possible conspiracy points - I feel there should be a list of stuff that's ambiguous enough so that GMs who run the setting can pick and choose what they prefer. This was also something I really liked about AdEva. All of the conspiracy threads, chain of events leading to the end game scenarios.
>>31812420Alright, to catch up use this link:>http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=JAEVA%20ProjectThe links to the first 3 threads are contained within #4's OP, and we'll use the JAEVA Project tag for consistency from now on.Currently working on downloading the previous thread, as the archive didn't catch the last few posts.
Continuing on the conspiracy idea, maybe WILLE acts as a counter to SEELE. Only WILLE is far more poorly funded and pretty much just Misato and a couple of others.WILLE can carry out assassination and sabotage missions that Jaegar/Eva pilots would best not be caught doing.
>>31812572Are you the guy who keeps trying to inject stuff from rebuild 3.0 into this? Please stop
>>31812610No, I'm not suggesting anything BUT the name be similar to Rebuild 3.0.Not everyone at NERV is loyal to SEELE, so some work against them. That's the idea.
>>31812714There are a total of two or three people in NERV that even know SEELE exists at the start of the show.
>>31812533Alright, having never done this sort of thing before, I fucked up saving the images for the page. However, I have the page itself saved, if I can just figure out a way to share it.
>>31812743Hmm, key word there being start. It's not impossible that at some point during the Kaiju War people became aware of SEELE and decided to form a similar group to work against them.
>>31812840There are a few auto-archivers that cover /tg/, they just don't save images. So it isn't a big deal
>>31812869The entire point is to have the conspiracy unfold over the course of the campaign
anyway guys, i'm going to rewatch pacific rim for some rule ideas. if you have any suggestions, even for weapons or gear, give me a reply. i'll watch it and return to the thread later. i suggest seeing evabridged if you guys want a laugh. it's on youtube
Huh, just had the sad realization that even if this gets to be a workable RPG, I have no one to play it with.
>>31813102Which 'tubers are in it?
God damn it moot stop breaking captcha
Bumping with random shit I drew when I should be writing my engineering report.
>>31813141The Purple Eyes guy appears in it a little, otherwise its mostly run by a few Anime Podcasters/Reviewers.
>>31814530Hey its pretty neat in terms of a concept. I dig the head and how it looks Kaiju-esque.
>>31813102watching was a success. currently adding rules to the page. insanity rolls now have actual stats attatched to them, triggers are appropriately called RABITs, characters now have initiative modifiers to appropriately show how fast they are, and the future character sheet (design in the works mentally) will have a section to write down modifiers for the moment. also, readied actions will be a thing now, along with grappling and disarming. any other suggestions for specific actions is appreciated. sometime soon we need a 1-10 insanity table with effects, possibly one for each personality (that's iffy, but it's an idea.). oh, and i've listed 4 new weapon/gear items/descriptors, and several body modifications for both kaiju and bots. more to come
>>31812360We're fleshing out NPCs? Okay.I had a few thought up but I might as well start with a new one. >Gregory Lennon> Minor Kaiju Black Market player/ underground personality.> A vocal conspiracy theorist of the highest degree. He moves between various black markets as a consultant of sort as well as a customer.> Does his own "Research" on Kaiju stuff by way of his home lab. And by lab I mean van.> Suspects there is some connection between antearctic sea rise and K-Day. > Generally his theories are grasping at straws, but there is some truth to them. Unfortunately they get tied in with battier theories.> "The Kaiju attacks have been predicted by the Dead Sea Scrolls. Artefacts left by the ancient Martian Americans after they left Mesopotomotamia.> "I wanna buy sixty gallons of Kaiju urine. Yes. I'll hold. What? No no. Oh wait. Yes its for that."> "Nerv is secretly run by the Kaijullimnati." >Relatively low on Seele's or Nerv's shitlist.Basically /x/ crossed with a bit of pic related.
>>31815868I love it
>>31815908>r group to work against them.>>>> Anonymous 04/29/14(Tue)18:43:44 No.31812875▶>>>31812840>There are a few auto-archivers that cover /tg/, they just don't save images. So it isn't a big deal>>>>>31812869>"Don't worry! I have become fluent in their tongue">Begins to screach and wave his arms around while holding a megaphone during a kaiju attack.
>>31815933Wow I royally fucked up that response.
>>31815868>"Oh NO! Tang is people! TANG is people!">*tastes powdered tang*>"Tangy though." or alternatively,>"Nerv's ultimate goal is Instrumentality.>"Forcing the whole world to play recorders to draw aliens here enmesse.">"No ones gonna force me to be a Bassoon."
Another NPC from the last thread that could use fleshing out? Maybe I could writefag something?>Lita Kyle>Survivor of one of the earlier Kaiju attacks, possible connection to the inciting Antarctica incident perhaps through father or other relative. >Has grown into a role as a Kaiju War Profiteer. >Essentially runs Central American Kaiju Black Market. >Takes a more active role in scavenging for the black market. Getting boats out in the water surronding kaiju battles to pick up whatever flies off in conflict. >Less interested in Kaiju parts as a scam, Selling them as boner pills and super fertilizer basically. Maybe as some form of narcotic? Willing to drop this if it seems too edgy.
>>31816140This gives me some ideas for plot hooks. Towards the end of the last thread the nature of LCL was brought up, with it narrowing down to either a special Pattern Orange found within either the brains of Kaiju or only in the ancient Kaiju, or LCL being purified 'Pattern Blue' Kaiju blood aka Kaiju Blue.If its something that can be harvested from the Kaiju, then it could be an interesting relationship between NERV and Lita Kyle should NERV ever lose the ability to produce their own LCL without a source.
>>31816140>kaiju narcoticspeople in real life smoke household cleaners and fermented shit to get a high. i think this could end with some hilarious results. i vote yes. and what do you mean, bone powder being a scam? this erection has been up for four hours and i'm calling a doctor just to brag
>>31816140Another Black market person. This time in Europe. >Methuselah>The alias of a shockingly old man who has been running a similar Kaiju Black market in the Mediterranean and Europe. >Seems to do most of his business with anonymous Kaiju Cultists. >Runs his operation with an almost monk like or religious bent. >If he is sought out he might have some interesting things to say about "random" Prophesies or archaic knowledge.> He is a marked man by Seele. so he is crazy illusive. Might refuse business to Nerv entirely. That is assuming he is aware.
>>31816240>"Duuuude... Did you try the kaiju vapor dude? >"Dude . Dude. Dude... Its working. I can feel it working... i... I think I can read my own mind."
>>31816217Which might be a possibility if NERV and PPDC are restricted to one location, like Panama, and Nerv has yet to relocate their source of LCL/Purified Kaiju Blue there. this is assuming Lilith is still the main source or something.
Could we make an IRC chat for this? I have a friend that has a Storyteller-based system that would work GREAT for this, but he's kind of a spaz that's afraid to post in threads.
>>31816507We were thinking of this last thread, could make for a fun session>Lilith is still at one of the now decommissioned Geofronts>Under the guise of transporting a damaged EVA to the Panama Geofront for repair/restoration/Spare Parts, SEELE relocacte Lilith>UN forces NERV and the PPDC to defend the convoy>Kaiju attacks the naval convoy before it reaches it destination>Everyone is left wondering what was really going on
>>31816598Rather hilarious image, since the water would probably be deep enough that the Jaegers would be under the ships, while the Evas crouched on top and tried not to fall off.
>>31816598And when that Anon says "Kaiju attack the convoy," we're talking like three kaiju. Not a double event, but a planned ambush.
>>31816564#jaeva on suptgEveryone get in here
>>31816629Oh lord, now I need to dig up an IRC client and remember the last time I used one four years ago.
>>31816615Jaegers float if they don't take on water, as seen in Operation Pitfall in the movie
>>31816658Five years for me
>>31816661They do? That ... hurts my brain slightly less than the whole transport by helicopters thing, but still.
>>31816686Well, think about it. A huge battleship made of steel will float.
>>31816658I've never used one. Any tips?
>>31816686Here you gohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_BPLIF8mxA
>>31816756Actually I might be mistaken, they appear to be touching the bottom there.
>>31816805Yeah they were walking off the damn continental shelf.
>>31816740Which is why its more credible than the airlifts, but I have a hard time imagining that the giant robots can resist taking on enough water to just sink.Plus, how good a swimmer can the giant robot really be?
>>31816629How do I get into this?
>>31816822I don't know. A lot of the battles are on shorelines. furthest i've seen Jaegers submerged when NOT being thrown into the breach was waist height, during the battle with Knifehead. Otherwise they simply maybe crouch to sneak around? Or maybe they have propellers on the base of their feet. >Stingray Dart>Mark IV Jaeger.>Variable frame that allows it to function as a boat in water for high speed long distance interception further away from shore.
>>31817005Type my man. Come up with fluff, NPCs, PCs even, discuss silly theories, start writing stories. And hell maybe help out with the crunch or play testing.
>>31817071I mean how do I get into the IRC channel
>>31817085there's an IRC channel?
>>31817085Get an IRC client.Connect to irc.thisisnotatrueending.com on port 6667. Once connected, type /join #JAEVA
>>31817100Oh, they have an embedded chat client. Glorious, now I don't need to find one at 2 in the morning.
Hey JAEVA guys; I was the guy who made Santo Machismo and Buster Astro and came up with some more solid fluff for them. Feel free to edit as you see fit.Santo Machismo: As stated in a previous thread Santo is piloted by an actual Lucha tag-team (which I cannot think of a good name for). The duo were actually training/wrestling in Japan during the time of the Onibaba attack. Surviving the carnage, they garnered a distaste for NERV, as they believe the EVA unit caused too much collateral damage and harmed many innocents. After a period of rest in Mexico, they made their way to the Lima Shatterdome in Peru in response to the open recruitment drives.Santo itself is a Mark III, it's head stylized (in either paint job or actual design) to resemble the silver mask of Mexico's most famous lucha, El Santo. The Jaeger is known to utilize the duo's wrestling moves and is a national symbol in Mexico.Buster Astro: Astro is piloted by veteran Ranger Terry Hirst and the daughter of his previous partner, Laura Elsen. Laura's father Jay had been friends with Terry since middle school. They joined the military together and immediately signed up for the Jaeger program as soon as they could. Their first Jaeger was a Mark II named Tiger Domino; they had many successful missions together and lasted well into the Mark III era until a disastrous mission against a Category III.The current Jaeger, Buster Astro is one of the earlier Mark IV's and boasts their increased maneuverability and speed. As Jay and Terry were both children of the 80's, Terry and Laura have affectionately called the railgun stored in Astro's left arm the mega buster.Sorry if these are lengthy; names and such can change as I'm pretty terrible at those unless I have a while to think on them. I might actually want to change up Buster Astro with Tiger Domino; I may have come up with Astro months ago, but damn, I like that Tiger name.
Come on you faglords get in the IRC channel
>>31817407Shit's broken captain. Site won't load for me.
>>31817448Get a real client then
>>31817448Yeah, i think we borked suptg a little there. Heh. I'll set mine up in the morning, before work.

>>31817505One Second. Getting IcedChat.
>>31817535I am shit and cannot figure this thing out. Anyone still in here posting or is everyone just in the IRC?
>>31817776Nope, nobody else has joined yet
>>31817776I'm here, and i'm struggling to get a client to work. That's what I get for using Rizon and Mibbit all the time.Whats up?
>>31817776>>31817815What you want to do is using the client connect to:irc.thisisnotatrueending.comThen type /join #JAEVA
>>31817846Works for me.
>>31817776I'm still here. But not sure for how long. Might take a request or two and fufill it when i got the time.Currently>Eva and Jaeger pilots arguing while a kaiju wrecks the city in the background.
>>31817897Any particular city. Because for some reason I think of Reo.Anyway, mind making a Mark 3 Jaeger?
>>31817984what are the usual traits of a Mark 3? Are they basically Gipsy Danger? Or is Gipsy Danger a Mark 4? I'll gladly work off that. There's Emerald Spark or maybe another Jaeger we fluffed out that I can draw. Or just a brand spanking new one?
>>31818070Gypsey is a Mk III. My III are your standard Jaegers, without all the fancy toys like the Mk IV or V.
>>31818070I'm not sure there are any specific traits to each Mark line, every Jaeger is pretty unique
Looks interesting, I'll have to come back with some ideas after work tomorrow.
>>31818094I dunno, its implied there is a certain amount of upgrades on the general design between each line.Mark 1's were slapped together at a moments notice and didn't have pilot long term survivability in mind. Since they figured it might be a temporary problem. So they had leaky radiation shells and were very barebonesy. Mark 2's were probably round when they really nailed down the two person drift systemMark 3's were lighter stronger and started to do the cool integrated weapon tech like plasma cannons.Mark 4's include stuff like Crimson Typhoon. Really wild Diversions. Extra arms extra armor.Mark 5's of which Striker Eureka was the only one, were supposedly the fastest and maybe had the best usage of weapons.
>>31818070I was thinking about asking about Delta Dream, which is a Mark 3. I hadn't really given a thought to what it looked like beyond its paint job (Green with Black and White Checkerboard Pattern) Weapon Systems might play a part in its appearance. His Left Arm has a built in Tesla Cannon, and his right has is a ChainFist that has similar boosters to Gypsy. Beyond that I really haven't got much of an idea really.
Where has everyone gone?
>>31818773We've got a few people in the IRC channel, but things have been slow all day
>"Vigilante">His father piloted a mk. 1 Jaeger in the early days of the war. After he was killed in battle, Vigilante salvaged the Jaeger and now seeks revenge against the Kaiju. He is wanted by both NERV and the PRDC, who cannot explain how he operates and maintains the Jaeger with no outside assistance. He simply responds that fighting Kaiju is "the only thing he knows for real".
>>31818840Mark 1 eh?Gotta love that radiation sickness man
>>31819025Respirator, Iodine tablets, booze. Congrats, you've cut your REM dosage by 90+%.
I want some more fluff like that writefag did. Some about NERV/PPDC Interaction, like that bit about Shrike Victor and Unit 015
>>31818840And if you don't mind me asking, why is he wanted? Well beyond piloting a Scratch Jaeger.
So where do the Rift aliens fit into the whole Instrumentality thing?
>>31819491SEELE sees them as the template for what Humanity should be, an immortal joined intelligence. Their plan is to force humanity into a copy of the Precursor hivemind
>>31819491Mostly there Hivemind stuff going for them. SEELE wants to replicate it on Earth, and start the T->>31819514And someone beat me to the punch.
>>31819514>>31819525>Well that doesn't sound so badYou might say, but the Precursor hivemind evolved naturally. Which allows them to still exist as individuals. Forcing humans into that kind of connection though, wouldn't end so well.
>>31819551TANGING AND BRAIN HEMORRHAGES FOR EVERYONE!!!!!
>>31819372Because the circumstances with his father and the Jaeger all looks a bit too much like how an Eva might be created and there are a lot of people who want to take it apart. But mostly it's an excuse to have Jetstream Sam running around in a giant robot.
>>31819722Um...not to be the bearer of b-GOOD NEWS EVERYONE we already HAVE a Jetstream Sam, in the form of Blade Wolf's Pilot Sam and Jack. And they fight with a big sword with the words "DEFEAT UNDEFINED" Stamped into it.
>>31819767Pic RelatedI will try and find material relating to "Blade Wolf" if you want to run with it go ahead with it, but be warned. Too much MG might be a bad thing.
>>31819797http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/31753617/#p31761859First mentioned after a joke about the new pilots, "Sam" and "Jack".Later seems to of evolved into delta dreams partner.
So......Is my idea of Mechs in ?
>>31819986-About 45 m tall mech-Only one CCW, as a last resort -Light armor- Plasma And Maser Long and Medium Ranged weapons , Maybe Thermic missiles( Cauterize wounds, No KB)- Made by Corporate Bastards - Hired by Absurdingly rich groups, as personal mercenaries ( Please defend my oh so much precious private island in the pacific etc), along with useed as Jaeger and Eva support.- Hated as thugs of the rich by almost everyone.- Single pilot wired to the machine via brain implants , with AI support .- Sync system similar to Drifting, but your co-pilot is an AIPROS- Brain implants makes pilots more accurate on long range weapons than Evas, and Better Reflexes - Only of the three that has chances to take down a Kaiju from afar - Most powerful ranged Weapons.- Fastest of the three, Evas coming to a close second.- Cheapest of the three, mass produced. Fielded in larger numbers than the rest.- If Pilot is Incapacitated, AI can assume direct control .CONS- Weapons experimental. May overheat on overuse and blow up- Brain implants might make the pilots go bonkers on high stressful situations .- Corporate Bastards can self destruct the mech with the press of a button if AI goes rogue, or the pilot sees something that he shouldn't. Calling it an "accident".- AI of each mech slowly becomes self aware, may try to MC the pilot, or refuse actions that seem stupid. Corporate Bastards know, and don't care unless AI goes rogue, in which case see above - Kaiju Manages to reach you = You are dead .Crunch wise, they will be like conventional forces of the adEva, though more powerful.
>>31819986Um.Maser, Lasers, or Railguns Firing HESH Based Rounds. We have one Experimental Railgun Jaeger named 'Grim Driver' He is a small if non-existant minority of Jaegers based around the usage of Ranged Weaponry. And there are many Jaegers that use weapons like mortar cannons and Eureka's Chest Cannon Things as armaments too.EVA's are modular (Usually) and use ranged weapons as well as other weapons. The reason such weapons aren't used as often is the likelihood of Kaiju Blue being spilled goes up dramatically with the usage of ballistic weapons.I apologize if that didn't make any sense or if it was long winded. Im about to go to bed.Short answer: If you want it, sure. Just make sure it works in the setting.
>>31820074II'm willing to create a system fir them, i just need the gree light that they are cannon
>>31820074>>31820087Like on the Last thread I will leave the argument on whether or not to include 'Titans' to people of more sound mind then I.
>>318155901 mood shift: The character's personality shifts by one step on the personality wheel (direction should be decided based on the cause of the insanity test). 2 shell shock: The player loses their next X actions, where X is equal to their current insanity score. 3 RABIT event: Traumatic RABITs begin flowing in both directions on the Drift, potentially revealing secrets, adding penalties to actions, or forcing the player to make an additional insanity test 4 blind rage: The character goes into a berserk rage, and can only take aggressive actions. Allies no onger exist. 5 personality break: see below (specialized to individual personalities)
>>31815590>>318201316 mad world: The character begins experiencing hallucinations, and is unable to tell them apart from reality. 7 shattered mind: see below8 catatonic state: The character falls unconcious. 9 mental relapse: Repeat the effects of a previous failed insanity test, and roll again. Both effects take place simultaneously. 10 madness: Roll again. This effect is now permanent (psychological help can reduce and eventually remove this.) Effects without a specified duration are left to gm discretion, and will usually last the duration of a combat scene. How's that look?
>>31820143>Effects without a specified duration are left to gm discretion, and will usually last the duration of a combat scene. Not supposed to be part of 10. Bad at copypasting
What's been going on in the IRC? I can't get in to join in myself (and I'm a fluff man myself).
>"it's a cybernetic organism: living tissue over a metallic endoskeleton"Vanguard Terminator is a prototype offensive Jaeger, controlled by AI and wrapped in living Kaiju tissue. It is theorized that this will allow it to enter the breach and disrupt operations on the other side. Unlike conventional Jaegers its weapons are designed to maximize collateral damage; in addition to laser batteries, Terminator carries a large number of salted thermonuclear warhead. A set of 'Tory III' nuclear ramjets allows it to fly at up to mach 1.2 at sea level; again, fallout was not a concern. Terminator is cooled using a molten lead-bismuth alloy, however when 'Agent Silver' is activated cobalt is injected into the mixture where it transmutes into a powerful gamma emitter. In this state the machine becomes lethally radioactive and is expected to remain so for at least three years after shutdown.
>>31820131>>31820143very good. the table looks quite passable, i will add it to the wiki in a momentsorry guys for jumping ship last night, but sleep has to happen sometime. and as for the IRC channel, while i like the idea, A) i've never used one, B) it splits up the group. i'd rather have us all in one place. i'd like to hear some ideas from that guy with the storyteller system, but i also want to make it clear that i'm wanting to be the one editing the wiki, sort of acting like a filter for the ideas that come through. good start guys.
>>31820821Update: improbable weaponry added. you can do pic related now, easily.
>>31821587More like Improvised Weaponry, that.Improbable Weaponry is more like laser sharks riding on bear cavalry coming out of your Jaeger's chest.
>>31821813good point. changed. still desperately need a list of descriptors for weapons. literally throw anything you want at me and i'll see what i can do.
>>31822038A super giga lazer chainsaw rocket punch
>>31822038Hey crunchfag, last night in an IRC channel somebody shared some modified WoD combat rules they wanted to donate to the project. You can take a look herehttp://pastebin.com/dWSysgZw
>>31820087Remember that we're currently planning on having all mech use the same system. If you really want to stat them up, hold off till we get the base system a bit more in place. If you want, check out the 1d4chan page and see if you can help crunchfagalpha out with that.
>>31822571Oops, forgot my name
>>31822562checking that out now. >>31822571yes, but PLEASE don't help without talking to me on here. i filter rules through for what works best and i'd be pissed if someone changed all the work i have done over the past few days.
>>31822038Itano Circus, Laser Edition.AKA Laser Light Show.basically a whole array of them somewhere on your Jaeger, slicing and dicing like some kinda fatal light show.Next up, microwave emitters. Cooked Kaiju inside out all the way. Should probably be either a passive, close-range one for Kaiju annoyance during a fight, or one that can be focused. Alternatively, put them in the hands of your Jaeger, and give a hell of an Indian rub on the Kaiju.
>>31822562seeing it now i can see that there are some definite good ideas in there, however implementing them would mean a lot of work changing our current layout. as mentioned before, the system is /inspired/ by WoD, and while it does take many ideas from it, it works on a less lethal scale for a more inematic and less gritty experience. in defense of the damage track, yes it is like HP, but in combat with kaiju you have a damage track for each of the 6 areas of the body (1 for each arm, 1 for each leg, 1 for the torso, and one for the head) and you take penalties for using weapons on that hit location. so in a way, it is visceral, just not as much as something with a lot of detail, but that helps ease narration and gameplay so players and GMs can give more of a description of what they're doing. i suggest we save the other crunchguy's ideas for a separate thread or edition and work with whats established for now.
>>31822880Probably shouldn't be so opposed to changing things so early in the game, I mean what we have so far crunch wise when it comes to combat would amount to less than one page of formatted rules. That said I agree with you on the condition track, but I think the Defense/Advantage thing is perfect for the drawn out fights. Jaegers/EVAs wearing down the defense of a massive Kaiju, either side pressing for advantages as limbs are lost or weapons damaged/destroyed.
>>31822038Think you could give me an example of a stated weapon for this system? If I can see one I would go ahead and stat and fluff out a bunch of weapons
Do we need more NPCs? Because if so, I got a Jaeger and its Ranger-duo thought up.>Mk. III Jaeger "Sushi Avenger"Built in the good ol' US of A, Sushi Avenger is a brutal opponent in close combat. While not particularly faster, stronger, or more resilient than other Mk. IIIs, this Jaeger's offensive weaponary makes it stand out in the form of plasma axes capable of replacing its hands at a moments notice. Seeing it in action, one wouldn't be blamed for confusing the Jaeger with a butcher in the process of making minced meat. End results are quite similar as well. Additionally, it also carries shoulder-mounted microwave emitters to give Kaijus a good cooking while it delivers a beatdown. The use of microwave weaponary to cook the Kaiju's flesh, and plasma-enhanced melee weapons that cauterize wounds as they are made, allow it to deliver maximum choppy-ness with minimum amounts of Kaiju Blue being splattered in the combat area.Rangers coming up next.
>>31823563>Toshio "The Chef" MoritaThe Chef is a forty-nine year old Ranger. Having served in the JDF, Morita continued to keep his body in shape by practicing martial arts in his spare time, finding the dexterity this granted him quite useful in his day-job as a cook. At some point, seeking a change of environment, he moved to America with his family, opening a Japanese restaurant in downtown San Francisco. A few years later, Trespasser would ravage the West Coast. Once the Jaeger program began recruiting, he applied to become a Ranger, and eventually became one of the pilots of Sushi Avenger. Whatever Shatterdome he's stationed at is guaranteed to have proper meals instead of MRE-grade slop.NERV Shitlist Status: Moderate due to continues criticism regarding Japan's use of EVAs. PPDC PR folks have gotten him to shut up from time to time, but something always makes him start again."WHAAAAAAAT?! NO BRUDPRAY?!" - The Chef, upon hearing that Sushi Avenger's weaponary resulted in minimum bleeding.
>>31823594>Charles McPhersonCharlie is a thirty-two year old Ranger, and the second pilot of Sushi Avenger. Originally an Air Force pilot, Charlie had few things to complain about. The arrival of the Kaijus complicated things for Charlie the Chair Force pilot, however, once it was determined that conventional weaponary was worthless against them, and he lost many friends stationed in Japan after the first Kaiju attack on the island-nation. His life changed even more once he was found to be Drift-compatible once a screening of all active military personnel was performed, getting him in line for becoming a Ranger. Charlie gets along well enough with The Chef, even if he finds the old man to be somewhat excentric. Some of his excentricities include (mandatory) cooking courses for Charlie, which have failed to improve his skills in the kitchen. The former-pilot doesn't complain, however, as a RABIT incident revealed to him The Chef's motivation for all this. Morita holds Charlie in a position close to that of his own son, whom he was training to become a cook before he was killed in Trespasser's attack on San Francisco.
>>31823298let's say someone wanted to make Gypsy's plasma cannon, they would first buy the cannon for x requisition points, then buy yhr "built-in" descriptor, meaning that they can't be disarmed of this weapon without destroying the arm, then they would buy the "plasma" descriptor, giving the weapon electrical damage, and a +1 or 2 to the damage bonus of the weapon (haven't decided on the added power to points ratio yet). this would take up one of the weapon slots for the jaeger's arm (max of 3 for built in weapons, 1 for handheld weapons). so in short, it's a "built-in"+ "plasma" x [cannon] the chain sword and elbow rocket are also possibilites ("built-in"x [blade], "built-in"+"rocket" x [fist])make sense?
>>31823281and as for changing things, yes, it is early in the game. so early that we haven't had a chance to test any of the mechanics because it's not finished. however, if we test them and find them ineffective we can attempt a change, at the moment however i'd like to just get it down and try it out.
>>31823636>make sense? No, not at all. I've read through three times but I still can't make heads or tales of this.
>>31823702what's hard to understand about it, so i can understand? cannon is the basic weapon type, explained on the wiki as being able to hit medium range and giving a +2 damage bonusplasma is the type of damage it does, also adding a +2 to the initial +2, giving a total of 4 damage it does in addition to the successes the player rolls (if the attack hits), which (after armor is subtracted) gives a total of the damage the enemy takes to the targeted hit location. (which may be random, explained earlier in the rules)and it's built into the arm so it can't be disarmed. that's all there is to it.
>>31823775Okay, the explanation on the wiki makes a little more sense. Have a plasma caster
>>31824368nice, it seems like a good premade weapon (i have a range step already, but a damage step for range isn't a bad idea either. as a premade weapon it works. more of these would work well (cherno's piston fists: "heavy"+"piston" x [fist]). i'll change the wiki's version of it so that's accurate. not sure about the ammo cap, though the idea makes a lot of sense it seems like a little too much to track. also, i'll drop the accuracy because that depends on the user.
>>31822790Itano Circus would be a good Jaeger Name itself. Possibly for japan if they didn't kick them out outright. Maybe Korea?
>>31822038Rocket javelins. Imaple the Kaiju, then anchor inside the body, then spray adhesive foam over the entry and exit wounds. The javelins are of course hollow and can deliver a wide range of liquid payloads.
>>31824810that would be "Rocket"+"Syringe" + (chemical) x [spear] for future reference, to avoid confusion, "x" is the descriptor, and [x] is the base weapon for the unique weapon being made.
>>31824878chemical is currently unknown, fyi. so far all i have is acid.
>>31824632Well I'm thinking a damage drop-off for this weapon specifically because the plasma loses cohesion as it flies. The ammo cap is right out of the movie, Gipsy Danger only got six shots per cannon.>>31824878>>31824963I think this dial-a-weapon thing isn't the best idea, it will make EVA/Jaeger creation a pain and would be a nightmare to try and balance. Instead we should come up with some categories and damage types, then make a good arsenal of weapons from there.>Weapon CategoriesBasic Melee - Fists, ClawsSmall Melee - Progressive knives, saws, swords, clubsLarge Melee - Spears, axes, hammersBeam - Laser and Maser weaponsCannons - Plasma casters, HESH railguns, Positron rifleLaunchers - Anti-Kaiju missile launcher, Acid sprayers, flamethrowers>Damage TypesChemical - Poison and acidSlashing - Blades, clawsBallistic - HESH railgun, EVA firearmsBlunt - Fists, clubsHeat - Flamethrowers, plasma cannons, lasersCold - MasersExplosive - Anti-kaiju missilesAdd more as needed, if I missed something. Jaegers would have more places to mount weapons; like their arms, chest, back, shoulders. While EVAs pretty much only have their shoulder Pylons, and mostly carry weapons in their hands.
>>31817372I imagine that since no one's said anything is must not be very good. You guys are free to polish the ideas up or scrap them if you wish, I wrote that at maybe 2am
>>31817372Just because no one commented on them doesn't make them bad. Actually, you Jaegers are already on the 1d4 Page for JaEVA. Though they don't have much info on either of them there.
>>31825375Well, expect for Tiger Domino anyway. We really don't have many Mark 1 or 2's Fluffed actually.
>>31825375>>31825416Oh, I didn't even see we had a 1d4 Chan page, cool. I can come up with more stuff on Tiger when I'm not typing on my phone
>>31825252well, yeah, i want to have a premade weapon list for ease of character creation, but also have a weapon creation tool which allows people to make the weapons they want, simple as that. the current creation system is here to help us make that list up. i like the weapon categories, it makes remembering what does what much simpler, though i think the beam thing should be limited to the descriptors, this allows someone to make a regular cannon or a laser/maser cannon without needing to make a new weapon type. i will add launchers to the list of basics though.i'm glad to see a list of damage types here as well, i'll add those options in soon. >also i've never heard of a maser till now
>>31825714just a idea more than makeing weapons you sould define weapon tipes aand damage types so players can make the weapons instead of looking them up masers are pretty much the same of a laser but using microwaves or so Wikipedia says
>>31825416Well I must go but before I go a little something about the Mark 4 Grim Driver.*We are Grim Driver, We only have one mission, its to drive you; STRAIGHT INTO SUBMISSION!, to send you home an utter disgrace, To WIPE THAT SHIT EATEN' GRIM OFF YOUR FACE."
>>31825714I'm not sure if they are a real thing, or if how they are portrayed in the toho movies is how they really are, but in a lot of toho's movies Maser cannons are basically lasers that make shit cold.>TFW there are zero decent godzilla clips on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPyI8mHSCg0
>>31825714Dawg put plasma under heat, electrical would be things like Cherno's tesla fists.
>>31826396Oh yeah, kept forgetting to mention that. Plasma is superheated materials, not an electric attack. The electric buildup around Gypsy's plasma cannons was probably just the material being changed from a solid to a plasma state.
>>31827638>>31826396it's been a while since i've bothered to learn that stuff, i'll fix the plasma entry soon.
>>31827682Looks like somebody else already did
>>31825893This is actually a thing, believe it or not. http://www.wired.com/2009/09/lasercooling/
>>31828113Neet, now I want to run a Jaeger around shoulder mounted heavy maser cannons and pneumatic fists
I'm putting these two up as weapon options:Schwerer Gustav + Dora>800mm railway cannons >can fire high-explosive or armor piercing ammo>shells weighed over 10,000 pounds>range of 30 miles Karl-Gerät family of self propelled super mortars>600mm mortar>6 were built: "Adam" (later "Baldur"), "Eva" (later "Wotan"), "Thor", "Odin", "Loki", and "Ziu">shells weighed over 4,000 pounds >over two and a half mile range http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schwerer_Gustavhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl-Ger%C3%A4t
>>31828689Both would be awful weapons, they would get Kaiju Blue everywhere. The only ballistics that can be used have to use HESH rounds
>>31828689>>31828853Engineers sought to overcome the problems of contamination by replacing the explosive filler with solid rocket fuel, ignited by an impact fuse in the nose. A set of vents are cut into the shell body to allow the high temperature exhaust gases to escape, creating a sustained fireball to cauterize the wound. The 80cm Gatling cannon thus forms the primary armament of the close support unit Havoc Enforcer.
>>31829122CoolWith the sheer size of the shells it allows us to cram all sorts of crazy stuff up there. Crazy ass specialty rounds would further enhance the cannon's capabilities. Pic is one of the railway cannon's shells.
>>31828853What are HESH rounds. Also, Striker Eureka had a fucking rocket launcher. Are you gonna tell me that motherfucker didn't get Kaiju Blue all over the place?
>>31831547>What are HESH rounds.High-explosive squash head, they are plastic shells designed to squash on impact and then explode. Which sends a shockwave into the target fucking up the inside. >Also, Striker Eureka had a fucking rocket launcher. Are you gonna tell me that motherfucker didn't get Kaiju Blue all over the place? They are called K-stunner missiles, they burrow deep into the center of a target Kaiju and explode what I'm assuming is a plasma warhead. Which would burn up the innards of whatever it hit, leaving the outside relatively undamaged.
>>31832039>they burrow deep into the center of a target Kaiju and explodeThat really sounds like it would get nasty shit everywhere.
>>31832286Not when you consider how huge a Kaiju is, and how strong its hide is. The missiles get in, burrow through into a critical organ, and pop. Six relativly little booms in just the right spots could completely cripple a Kaiju
>>31832342So let me get this straight...If we want our Evas to safely and effectively battle Kaiju from range, we have to give them bolters?I'm OK with this.
>>31832435I was thinking of refluffing all of the EVA guns to be either plasma weapons or have them fire HESH rounds, but bolters could be fun too
>>31818840I hope you die and all your cursed brood with you.Not really, but seriously do consider being less of an unfunny faggot next time.
>>31823563>>31823594>>31823626So, no comments regarding these?
>>31834568Holy fuck son.Dat's dumb.
>>31834568Personally? I see it as slightly too silly for the setting. Not a terrible idea if someone plans to run a campaign in the glory days where Rangers could be a bit sillier.
>>31834824Figured as much. Oh well.
Did we ever decide why EVA pilots have to be teenagers? I remember we were throwing around ideas that they would have had to been exposed to a Kaiju derived substance as a child, or that they need to be with their EVA during puberty to properly bond with it.
>>31835031The puberty thing is the best one I can think of if we want to keep the back story as it is. Almost any other option requires having somekind of even years before K-Day to justify anyone other than Rei being a pilot. Rei gets a pass since she'll be part Kaiju.
>>31835076Whelp to actually drift you have to have similar minds and experience right, and we are having Eva's piloted basically by drifting. What about after like the age of 16 or so the higher thinking human brake is to different from the more animalitic sue-do kiagu Eva to drift properly?Sounds pretty plausible.
>>31835076Is there any way that we can keep Shinji-esque pilots? The "yo kid, did you know you can drive this mecha? Well, you can, and now you need to hop right on in there and fight some nightmarish monsters. Good luck!" type guys. AdEva calls them Prodigies.
>>31835311Human brain is to different
>>31835323Sure just make them kids who's brains waves and mental state is perfect for drifting with kiagu, that means they'd probably be super murderist psychos but that what eva's all about right?
>>31835031I dunno. I like the "Exposure to Kaiju Substances" angle. I figure the reason they have to be teenagers is that, by this time, thats what they are. Pilots are needed and they are needed now who cares how old they are. The first exposure could've come from Seele's first Breach experiment. I dunno.
>>31835323Technically, it shouldn't be invalidated so long as they're still caught in an earlyish age. Like say 14 or so?>>31835311That might be a distinct possibility.>>31835421Alright, give me a few minutes and I'll try to write up something plausible to allow them to be about 14 by K-Day.
>>31835311>>31835311I like that explanation, actually. Seems to fit.
i'm starting the character creation with simple things like prices for each thing. pricing so far (only for characters) is 15 character points per attribute dot, 5 per skill dot, 8 per extra health dot, 8 per point of armor, 8 points per dot of willpower, 2 per +1 initiative mod.you can get some extra character points by having triggers (an extra 5 per trigger, maximum 3 triggers to start, also giving you an automatic 1 insanity point each, but these can be therapy'd away eventually) and (if you want to) lowering your initiative mod (extra 2 character points per -1 modifier you take).choosing between size 1-3 is free because it's a zero sum game with each having their own advantages (1 being child sized, 2 being normal, and 3 being freakin' built). personality is free. for those of you who know what i'm talking about from reading the wiki, what number of character points would be a decent start, and what amount would be a decent number to give for each level up?
>>3183545414 or earlier basically. the kaiju war spans like 10 years or so. Right? Meaning kids that are 14 around the time are the first pilots that get enlisted (maybe some Rei/Lilith Kaiju hybrids) But more kids that were like 5 at the time get discovered or enlisted later in the timeline. Kids that get hired at the Height of the war along side early pilots. Et Cetera.
>>31835624So the younger someone was at around K Day the more exposure they'll be able to accumulate as the years go on... Perhaps?
>>31835454Looking at the timeline, we have 2014 as the first Kaiju attack, 2013 as when Unit-00 goes through the Antarctic rift for a Precursor, 2015 is Unit-00's first public appearance, and the early 2000's is when SEELE first goes to Antarctica. Considering all this, we could have a Second Impact like event in 2001 or so, where the Expedition ends up briefly activating the dormant Rift, not enough to give the Precursors notice, but enough to cause Antarctica to buckle and break a bit. During this, some of the preserved Kaiju are caught in an explosion of sort diluting their Kaiju blue into the water and atmosphere. The slight amount isn't enough to cause the Tanging effect direct exposure does, it still causes slight mutations within those born after the event. To most of the world, it was simply an experiment gone wrong, with public attention being on relocating displaced animals, since SEELE knows that nothing distracts humanity like cute and lost animals.
I think the pilots just needing to sync before they finish puberty is fine itself, anything else is overcomplicating it
>>31835700>the melting ice caps was all SEELE's work
>>31824690Oh anon, Korea can't missile. You're silly.
>>31835367Seems simple enough. Just bookmark the kids that pull the wings off flies, tie firecrackers to cats, and don't use coasters.
>>31836073>and don't use coasters.Woah man. That's too fucking far, even for NERV.
basic character creation is up on the page, jaeger/eva creation coming tomorrow (hopefully) and character sheets coming tomorrow (hopefully) as well. if you have any ideas for fonts on the sheets, give a shout and let me know. hopefully i'll see it before the thread 404s
>>31836373I did employ the use of a font called AR Destine in a mock up logo. Could maybe be used as headers for blocks of information. "Physical Stats" "Mental Stats" "Inventory" "Eva Skills" kind of things. Also did several mock ups of the logo. With black and white and gray scale versions. Might need something extra besides the font. Just wondering what i should add extra. A half Jaeger Half Eva head? The PPDC and NERV logo Amalgam?
>>31836736Hmm, half Gypsy Danger and half Unit-01 would probably work for a recognizable logo. Personally I like the white an red one the best.
>>31836826Alright I'll get cracking on that. Otherwise enjoy some more variations on the the Red and White version. I might also fiddle with one of the Grayscale versions for the sake of the character sheet. To Ziptone? or not to Ziptone?
>>31836736out of these I like the one second from the bottom.>>31837021out of these the second one.
>>31836826A slight slant on the vertical cut to show more Eva horn and Jaeger turbine, maybe.
>>31837021Ooh yeah the second one there, with the borders is rather nice.
>>31836373I'm starting my Digging for fonts and found this. I'm trying to figure out its name, I might be running with "Shingo" basically Japan's Helvetica. Fits nicely with some sciencey theme. Clinical, and boxy where it counts. I might also dig around for whatever font they use for the Rebuild movie logos. I know its done with chinese marker for 2.0 but they use a smoother version for 3.0. Can't remember what they used for 1.0.
>>31837179So solid black outline the way to go? what thickness? Should corners be rounded or no? Sorry If I'm flooding the thread with concept logo crap.
>>31837476I'd say solid black or dark blue, with it being rather thin, so it accents the letters rather than override them.
>>31837595Alright. Tried out a couple of blues here with the first three versions from A group. I think I might dig the dark blue idea mostly cause it might give me a few design options on whatever theoretical rulebook cover. man this thread is at risk of turning into /gd/ at this rate. In other news, what would you guys think if a version number tailing off the top of the "A" or hanging below it in the style of the Rebuild Movie posters?
>>31837927Tempted to maybe use vintage evangelion logo font for version Number. Or title indents.
>>31837960Why not combine the Jaeger from the logo with the eva from the eva logo?
>>31837927Top left corner looks pretty good, a nice amount of accenting, without being jet black
>>31838064When I find the font or a similar slab serif type I might try that. But looking at it there it feels a little off. The decorative type of "Ja" is clashing with "EVA" maybe if the second part was taller and had similar width to "Ja" it might look better. But graphic design instincts warn me against mixing fonts like that. Otherwise I'll try something like that out. sometime.Otherwise here is a few crappy mock ups for the visual portion of the logo. I might turn it into a 2 color high contrast thing a la Nerv's logo.
>>31838623I like the first two, although if you do the slant one I'd try the other way. The horn is distinctive for Unit-01, but the open mouth helps show the differences between the two.
>>31832435Don't forget about the hotshots.
>>31837927Thanks. Yeah the dark blue definitely gives it a little more visual vibration actually. Gives it energy. speaking of energy. A quick digital render of a "Rebuild" style version number attached to the logo. I haven't found a good font for it yet.
>>31838958Fuck meant to reply to >>31838061
>>31838699Does this work? Like I said this is just a mock up. Want to get something good working before I start whipping out vector tools.
>>31839092Yeah, I think that's a nice contrast. When you have the time to put into it I'm sure it'll come out awesome.
>>31839142Definitely. I fucking love unit one's head design but it does make it a little awkward to splice together. Tempted to try out versions where the jaw is dropped entirely. Or maybe include Gipsy's cowl thing as it appears in this image. for visual balance.
>>31839225Yeah, I'd say either include the neck protection or move its head up a bit compared to unit one's.
>>31839258Okay. Last mock up i'll post tonight using the new image.
>>31839496You know... Maybe you should use a differen't jaeger head? I mean I know Gipsy is the posterboy for Pacific Rim and while Cherno is best, its head has bizzare proportions too. Maybe Striker eureka if there is a good front shot.Or hell Cross Crimson Typhoon with Unit Zero since they have the one eyed thing going on.
>>31839551huh, there's an interesting mental picture. Maybe if you >>31839496 find the time you can try a couple of them out. Maybe Unit 2 and Striker Eureka for the whole, best of the best relationship.
>>31839627I'll say this they definitely line up better. Hell they even share Crazy shoulder fins.
>>31839759though i will say i prefer the forehead thingy on the rebuild version of unit 2.
>>31839759Gotta Love them Fins.
>>31839496I like the topleft one the most, maybe just raise GD's head slightly so that the eyes line up better.
>>31839807Forehead thing yes, actual face is creepy.
>>31839833Yeah it kinda looks like it has the "side fins" that unit one has in >>31839496 makes it look a bit more samurai. Hm... Man this is getting to some crazy collage stuff. Also turns out im not the first one to make the Unit 00 Crimson typhoon comparison
>>31839820Okay I'll try that out too. It just looks a little weird. Mostly because while Unit 1 has this nice black line/shadow under its brow that syncs well with the bridge of Gipsy's wraparound shades-looking eyes. Its just the weird... Light Dark contrast that throws me off. Maybe I'll try that out by hand rather than digitally.
>>31819986Honestly you can maybe just give that thing some fists and make it a straight up Jaeger. No need to put Annihilators or Titans (Not familiar with 40k) in the setting as their own type of mech. Just make a Titan a proppa Jaeger.
>>31840113You could just make something like that Grim Driver JaegerA Waffenjaeger or somethin'
Is this guy going to show up in any of this?
Rolled 9>>31840183>We want more crossoversno this is what ruins crossovers
>>31840183You know what tempted to fluff up a Jaeger that has similar Pistontastic Fists. Just wondering where it would belong. New York? Germany? They love their tall art deco buildings like what out of Metropolis and Der letzte Mann?
>>31840183Pneumatic Punching Action? Make him a Mark One and set him loose.
>>31840282I can understand your hesitation. I'm honestly more interested in the way its piston fists work and just refluffing them to fit a Jaeger. >>31840292 . >Fritz Metro>Mark 1 Jaeger>Piston Fists, Chest missiles.>Hergestellt in Deutschland>or>The New York Giant
>>31839092>>31839496Reminds me of the Dexter's Laboratory where they have to stop the meteor.
>>31840387Well, I need to consult the map, but I was sure that Germany is NERV controlled, so your best bet is New York. Or maybe the U.K. dunno.
>>31840475Ach. Sie haben Recht. That goes to show me the use of that German Film course.
>>31840475Yep, NERV is Germany. Doesn't mean they can't have a jaeger though. On loan or something.
>>31840522I thought they made Jaeger parts, but only óerate EVA. Unless the pilot is on loan from Germany like Stacker was on loan from the UK piloting a Japanese Jaeger.
>>31840522Also US is still purple. Thought they abandoned Evas after Nevada. Is this a map of Usage? or Parts manufacture?
>>31840561I think Usage, America still has some EVA's I think, but not many.
>>31840580I thought after unit 4 going nuclear in NERV Nevada, they abandoned usage of Evas and donated their current stuff to other countries. Like Egypt (explaining why its red).
>>31840561Usage I think, remember someone saying Germany still manufactures Jaeger parts.
>>31840387>>31840292>>31840288>>31840282>>31840183It's really a short jump to include big o- I found pic related fairly quickly. It even has a name already: "Mega Deus"Only one pilot of course, unless you count the semi-AI that interacts with Roger on some occasions....Wait...What if Big O is a sequel to PR? After humanity wins a Pyrrhic victory that leaves all but one city destroyed?
>>31840608Hmmm, maybe. Really I thought they would still have some, maybe Mothballed for emergencies. Though I think the Egypt was right.
>>31840611Well it might need to update US to blue due to them abandoning the Eva project. >>31840641>Mega DeusI dunno might wanna try harder than that. But again, want to avoid "ALL THE CROSS OVERS" and maybe pull in some referential stuff to it.>Duce Omega
>>31840641We actually talked about this in another thread. An Ultra Bad Ending, where the Breaches either A. Got Closed but SEELE deployed there Instrumentality Device and gave nearly everyone TANG or Brain Death. Or B. the Breaches didn't closed, and Kaiju Parade all day everyday.
>>31840580America should have absolute antipathy for NERV. There could be American made Eva and American pilots, but they'd be based in other countries.
>>31840183Honestly if you chop Big O's head off you got Cherno alpha from the neck down.
>>31840681Probably still Recruit in the USA too, just not so brazenly as before.Kinda a part of the Delta Dream backstory for Kyle.
>>31840708'psst? You want to fight Kaiju now and not wait? then NERV is for you!'
>>31840721More like secretly collect dying mother's soul, then offer the pilot a chance to save the world.
>>31840721Pretty much. And then you pilot a Euro/Russo/Chinese EVA with a Chain Bayonet and a Jaeger Arm fighting a giant octo-shark thing.
>>31840721>Do you feel sad?>Directionless?>Lonely? >Mommy and/or Daddy Issues?>Feel like you have no control of your life?>Join Nerv!
>>31840746>octo-shark thingI think you may find that the proper term is Sharktopus.
>>31840755>Here at NERV, we care about our pilots. >We really are willing to go the extra mile for you. >We scripted and planned your life since before you were born, explicitly to turn you into an emotionally scarred, barely functional wreck. >Why? So that you can more easily connect with the alien god machine we keep in our basement!>Because we care. >Come in for a free e-synch reading today! We already got you fired from your part time job and expelled from your school so you'd have time. Your foster mother is already waiting to take you there (she's worked for us since before you were conceived). >NERV. You can't escape us!
>>31840900I can't imagine the PPDC's commercial being much cheerier.I mean if you think about it the PPDC wants you to bring your Loved one to the battle field as well. Not only risking your own life but the life of your brother or lover or father.Plus it must be awkward having someone in your head. They'll know all your secrets like how you burnt down the garrage and blamed it on them, or that one time you fapped unceremoniously to a picture of santa claus with a strap on antler. I always figured Herc from team Striker was secretly like wasn't uber proud of his son all the time which sort of led to that kind of tension.... But thats weird fan canon.
I had a brain fart, so have another flavor piece!--“Breach activity, sir! Something's coming through!” The Command Center's klaxons blared, the rapid clatter of keyboards pulsing underneath the brazen alarm. Stacker's brow furrowed. “Which breach?” A flurry of technicians answered in near-instant succession. “Pacific, sir! Sensors buoys are pulling data right now—”“Big one, Category 3 at least—”“Course plotted, sir! Looks like Seattle's gonna get hit again—”“Evacuation orders have been sent out—”“EAS is overriding local broadcast stations in three, two—”“National Guard units are being mobilized—”“Alright people, settle down, settle down!” Senior LOCCENT Officer Dalton Tolliver chose this moment to step through the Command Center's doors. “This ain't our first rodeo, after all. Choi's out in sickbay while he's lickin' his wounds from a barfight—man never could choose a woman who wasn't already taken—which means I'm your Huckleberry. Malin, what do we have?”“At approximately 3:17 A.M. Pacific Standard Time our sensor buoys picked up the Pacific Breach exhibiting anomalous activity. One entity came through, initial size estimates put it as a Category three Kaiju.” Malin took another sip of coffee, following with a drag on an e-cigarette. “Course plotting indicates its target is Seattle, ETA seven hours.”
>>31840561Its capacity to run both. If the US wished to it could easily start building more EVAs, perhaps they still make "parts" to sell to smaller powers.
>>31841129Dalton whistled. “Nice job staying on top of things, Miss Salander.” “Who is currently on standby?” Stacker's form loomed over the two officers, hands clasped behind his back.“That I can answer you, sir,” Dalton quipped. “Current Jaegers on standby include Gipsy Danger, stationed at Shatterdome Anchorage; and Coyote Tango, stationed at Shatterdome Los Angeles. Mark Five, Block Two Jaegers Crystal Jester and Havoc Prophet are still being repaired after the incident with you-know-who from two months ago, and are at seventy-five and seventy-three percent operational capacity, respectively.”“Get Gipsy and Coyote warmed up and on the ground soon as possible.” Stacker straightened his posture, still keeping his hands behind his back, steeled eyes scanning the Jaeger bays from beyond the LOCCENT Command Center's glass observation panels. “I suppose there's no better time for our newest two rookies to get their feet wet.”–“COYOTE TANGO, REPORT TO BAY 0-7, LEVEL 15. KAIJU, CODENAME: BEAKIE, CATEGORY THREE—”“I'm up, I'm up!” Luisa del Rios grumbled, tossing her sheets off. She sat up in bed, short brunette curls dancing as she shook her head awake. “Fuckin' alarms.” She swung her feet over the bed and stood up, sluggishly walking toward the small cabin's fridge for some milk. As she popped open the carton and began to pour herself a glass, the cabin's bathroom door slid open. “Rosalin,” she said, regarding her partner by looking her up and down.
>>31841021Apparently PPDC psychologies say "embarrassment based on sexual memory" is the number one road block to forming a drift pair
>>31841176“Luisa!” The short-statured girl smiled, her steps bouncing as she moved toward her dresser. “We're finally getting our chance!”“Yeah, I heard.” The taller girl offered up her own smile as she downed her glass of milk. “Ready to get this motherfucker what's comin' to him?”Rosalin licked her lips. “You know it.”“My kind of woman.” Luisa grinned.Three rapid, heavy knocks sounded on the thick steel bulkhead that served as the door. “Up and at 'em, ladies! Let's get a move-on!”“We're coming, just keep your panties on, Bryce!” Luisa shouted her reply as she tossed the cup into the kitchenette's sink and walked to her own dresser. She was halfway toward tossing on a loose white tee when she decided to fill in the dead air in the cabin. “So.”“So?” Rosalin replied while cinching her belt..“I had that dream again last night.”“The fish dream?” “The fish dream.” Luisa pulled on her boots and began to tie them. “Ah.” Rosalin quipped. “I think I had that dream, too.”“Always had that dream before good things happened when I was growin' up.”“Must be a good sign for the both of us, then.” Rosalin let out a wild grin. "First kill, maybe?"Luisa stepped toward the door, shooting her partner a look of assured confidence as she placed her hand on the doorhandle. “Just might.”--And done for now because I haven't written combat scenes in forever, let alone stompy robot action fighting scenes.
>>31841249That's awesome. Please do something where PPDC Rangers talk about EVAs and NERV.

Alright gonna go get some shut eye, but before I go I'm just gonna post one or two more mock ups.Rule Book cover. Using 2.22 graphics and the Hexes from the Pacific Rim Hex map as visual inspiration... Comes in White...
>>31841900And black. Just a quick mock up of the general idea. Still trying to sort out the hex part. Maybe tempted to make it look similar to the 3.0 poster. Maybe sync the "Caution tape" angles to the 30 degree angles the hexes have? Any advice? May also put in the two sided head as part of the logo as well. Great Big Stamp right beneath it. But this is all hypothesis and hyperbole.
>>31841900>>31841927I honestly think the white background looks better. The color helps make the purple and orange on the sides pop--moreso than the black background. That, and the black background looks kinda...high schooley--I dunno how to describe it, but it just looks kinda silly.
>>31841927>>31841900let's get a mockup for each and see how it looks. the hexaons DEFINITELY work well, as i have them planned to replace simple circles on the character sheet, but i would (personally) like to see them in a holographic orange (because when i think of eva or pacific rim's controls, i think of holograms. also, they would go well with the orange and red already being incorporated. Another option would be to have the RGBY overlay hologram look you see in all the control rooms of pacific rim. vote me down on this if you disagree, i may be a crunch guy on this project, but i have done numerous things with design stuff in the past (cough, unreleased/nearly finished fighting game RPG still sitting on my drive, cough)
>>31839496if we were putting any of these on he cover, i would do the right one, in the bottom one and left one feel like gypsy's eclipsing 01, while the right feels like a perfect balance.>>31839877however, because this one looks like it would work so much better, i would suggest this more.
>>31844150No you're absolutely right. I think I may go back into it after I finish some final projects this week. How would you feel if the cover page hexes were all the same size rather than all willy vanilly? Will implement orange/cymk red to provide balence. The rgby didplay look also sounds like a thing to do too.
>>31845305the multiple sizes look good in my opinion. i just want to unify the colors more.in the meantime, here is a prototype of the character sheet (just characters not jaegers, that will come later). i'm adamant about keeping everything on a single page because of the ease of keeping a single page for your character, a single page for your bot, and that's it. it's harder to lose that way.
So is anyone gonna run this anytime soon?
>>31845668Don't know how soon it'll be ready, but we'll certainly need to playtest this thing for balance. As for those asking about Purple America, America's purple because at some point in the timeline it fielded both Jaegers and Evas. Even those it no longer does after the Unit-4 incident, it's hard to make a map that's up-to-date since the latest point on the timeline has no one but Panama fielding any giant robots.
>>31845757The intention behind the map was capacity to make/support either program. Like over the course of a campaign you might try and convince a country to build a new Jaeger/EVA. Blue countries can build Jaegers, Red countries can grow EVAs, purple countries can feasibly do both
>>31845668i'll be running it asap with my local group. just need a jaeger/eva character sheet, prices on the weapons/gear for a more complete bot creation system, a more complete list of weapon descriptors, a list of gear to attach to the jaegers, a number for a decent amount of starting character/req. points and that would be it. i'm guessing only a few days more and this will be ready to roll on it's first testing. i'll work on it more when i can today, but i'm swamped for the most part till tomorrow.
Not to mean to shit on your parade, but Jaegers simply inferior to EVAs - second ones have the AT-field, which is insta-win fuck-the-physics rule. Only nuclear weapons or thier equivalents are able to do ANY damage to one protected by it, and you are going to need much of them.
>>31845951And if you are going to add S2 engine, then it's over. Unit-01 with it was related to as God.
>>31845951I assure you we've already taken that into consideration. The AT-fields are going to be far less powerful in this universe and S2 organs probably won't even exist. The current plan is that Kaiju fields will either be weak enough that Jaegers can punch right through them, or focused on giving a Kaiju some odd ability like Leatherback's EMP.For the Evas, the field will mostly help compensate their lower armor compared to the Jaegers, probably just a minor effect unless the pilot focuses on making it stronger.
What is the naming scheme behind Kaiju? Trespasser, okay. That makes sense, but what the fuck is a Mutavore or a Ceramander?
>>31847378I honestly don't know if there is a naming scheme behind it all.Or maybe there is, though its a bit more obvious then it seams. Like Knifehead being called as such for its Goblin Shark appearance.
>>31847526And Karloff here
>>31847584Motherfuckin Tree Person
>>31845565That looks pretty nifty crunchfag. What program did you use to make it? As well as the fonts. Might try incorperating them into the Cover or general typographic design. Also how many different types of character sheets do you think we'll need? 2 or 3 types I'm thinking. If Evas and Jaegers can work off the same kind of sheet you could treat their mech type in much the same way fantasy rpgs treat race>Jaeger >+2 Strength>-2 Dexterity>Defining Characteristic: 2 Pilot Drift>Eva>-2 Stregth>+Dexterity>Defining Characteristic: Beserk ModePlus if we can figure out a way to do mech races we could A) not need to make separate character sheets for Evas and Jaegers and B) make it possible to fluff your own kind of mechs to make this system usable as a Generic Giant Robo rpg in the long run.
>>31847584I'll be honest. It looks crazy Eva-like. with that crazy chin and sort of side bits and dem boxy teeth. Its like a wooden unit 2.
>>31845565>>31847769Also, should we have a simplified version of the "Pilot" character sheet for usage in NPC's? More of a DM side of the matter thing but since jaegers do the two pilot drift I figure the usage of this same level of depth on a companion character might make generation a little tedious.
>>31847769i used sketchbook pro to make it, the hexes are from MS paint (as you can probably tell really up close) the font was Agency FB (the same one used for the pacific rim logo, except their version was stretched out a bit. as for character sheets, i think we only need 2 types: pilot and robot. bezerk mode is an option that already exists in the sanity rules, and a sanity break that leads to one is always possible. the thing that'll make evas what they are will simply be the personality stat, which jaeger users will just put a "N/A" on. we'll have basic templates in bot creation soon for players to work off of, and since bots have a cap of 10 on physical attributes (compared to a character's cap of 5 on all attributes) our template bots can start with a simple size value (which gives them bonuses when damaging things smaller than them, and hitting things bigger than them) and not need much else as a start. >>31847831i completely agree that a simple NPC sheet may be needed. perhaps have it like WoD does with their NPCs, being able to fit all the info on an index card. which can probably be done by having it say their name, basic info, attributes, relevant skills (only writing the ones they have), damage track, armor, equipment, and lastly personality. i think that would work fine.
>>31848485Never tried out or heard of Sketchbook pro. Have you tried out InDesign before? Basically its a cross between Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Word. Great for creating layouts in a magazine style or character sheet thing. Also lets you mess with type like no one's business, stretching it kerning space between lines the works. Here have a look at the workspace, as well as another concept for the cover. Just a quick thing whipped up.
>>31848612not bad. i've never heard of the program before, but i'll look into it. i use sketchbook pro due to the ease it allows while using my tablet (surface pro. feel free to add some background stuff to the character sheet if you like, i think it would improve it a lot. (at the very least upload a cover without the text so i can add it myself) i would suggest upping the visibility, or at least the saturation of the orange to give it a little more of a hologram look to the orange while still making it look transparent enough. as is i think it's a little too transparent with that white bg. nice work though for sure. orange is definitely the way to go.
>>31848721>I'll attempt either giving the decorative Geometry some inner glows or something or a recurring inner radiating pattern similar to the AT Field.Another suggestion was going with a RGBY look that makes em look Orange ish while overlaying Red Green Blue and Yellow versions of the thing on top of eachother to give it the Holography look. I dunno I'll give it a shot when I have time. Thanks for the feed back. By the way do you prefer the hexagon arrangement in this one? >>31848612 or this one >>31841900
>>31848933Perhaps something like this might work? Variable transparancies? Wish I could've gotten a larger picture.
>>31848933hexagon arrangement in the newest one is best. more spaced, less chaotic. it's as if they're starting small and growing larger.if we go with something like >>31849015 's background, perhaps we could use the design of >>31848612 with the bg of the character sheet instead.
>>31848721So when you say without text do you mean without the logo in there? or was the little "Operations Handbook" In the white underline? Either way. the Final Logo is somewhere in this thread so here it is tweaked slightly with no logo. Brighter Orange this time.
>>31849097the orange here looks great. this is exactly what i wanted. and i really liked the touch with "operations handbook" in the logo. it was cool.
>>31849122is there any way to make the white completely transparent? if we could do that i could overlay it on the character sheet with no problems whatsoever
>>31849122Thanks. Was trying to imitate the Evangelion typeface which shows up in the old indents between the "acts" of episodes, which as it turns out is a modified version of Times New Roman (Extra Bold). Would've liked to go with the slab serif they used on the actual logo. >>31837960 Fuck me if that "G" doesn't have the Sexiest little trigger bit. >>31849122Anything else you want me to upload? Like the vanilla logo now that we've hammered it down? That way you dont have to crop it out of whatever large meandering thumbnail document.
>>31849353as far as i can tell this is good, thanks. i'm goind to try to shop the sheet onto this really quick
>>31848612I like the idea of having some kind of text in the underline, though I'm not sure about it being the Operations Handbook. I feel like we'd want any text there to be part of the overall logo. Definitely like the new orange style though.
>>31849460Yeah the Operations Handbook thing was me thinking "They call it the Player's Handbook or Dungeon Mastersguide" and giving it a thematic name. Maybe a tagline or general overview of the sjubject... or hell, edition/version number if we get that far.>Giant Robot RPG>Crossover RPG>Version 2.22Otherwise how do you feel about said Modified Times New Roman style text? Or would the pacific rim text used in the character sheet work better?
>>31849537giant robot rpg for sure
it took for-fucking-ever, but i figured it out (sketchbook wasn't liking the lack of a background, so i used gimp). behold the character sheet.
>>31849616>>31849460So how's this look? I'll post the Vanilla version as well. In case you wanna try out your own typefaces in the white underline. Might embark on my quest for a "Rebuild" movie font or styled version of the logo or something. (Maybe for page breaks between chapters.)>>31849708That looks pretty nifty Crunchy. Might suggest doing a grayscale test to double check visibility. some really light colors can turn ultra dark when printed in black and white and its a good test for visibility as a whole. There's also o's and e's that have white spaces in them but still this looks pretty damn good interacting with the character sheet. >>31849788Double thanks my man. I'll try out making an InDesign version of the character sheet for sweet vectorized action when I get the proper free time (Sometime around next week).
>>31849880Und finally, Vanilla like Magilla
>>31849880i used the fuzzy select to get the text, so there will be those spaces, but i don't think they look too bad. i make pdfs by importing the image into openoffice, sizing it then hitting the pdf button, so any further ones can be done like that.
>>31850157I think I know whats going up on the OP of the next thread.
>>31850157>/tg/ gets shit doneAfter a long Haitus of NOT getting shit done, I'm glad we're actually GETTING shit done again.
>>31850199let me give you the slgihtly altered version that looks better
>>31850203granted at the moment its postively extraneous visual design and deeply necessary character creation stuff. I have to say its really nice getting stuff done.I do hope we can reel in a couple other drawfags. I know I'm one but unfortunately I happen to be a student so quickie logo design and layouts are as much as I can do at the moment whilst also working dilligently on 2 essays and 4 HugeAss Art Projects.
>>31850250it fits in there. Though this image does also make me realize that perhaps the original logo is a tad small. There's nothing wrong with starting Large and scaling down, you dont lose detail that way. But starting small and scaling up is where business gets risky from a graphical standpoint.
>>31850272your participation is appreciated. >>31850312that's mostly the fault of the font. Agency fb is tall and can't be squished effectively. use any wide font you want though.
>>31840674>Duce>tfw heathens can't pronounce Deus
Would a country that doesn't go in for NERV still supply EVA pilots? Like if someone with the capability to pilot an EVA popped up in Australia, would 'Straya throw the pilot to NERV like "here ya go, cunts!"?
getting back to the rules: it currently takes 1294 character points to become god. by god i mean having 5 dots in every skill and attribute, full health and full willlpower. now obviously no campaign should last long enough that every character gets to this point, but what if we gave players a baseline start of 225 character points, and 25 points every level they grow? so, they'll start out with meager stats, and get better as time goes along, upgrading a couple dots each level (you need double the exp of your last level to reach the next level, i.e. lvl 2 is 5exp, lvl3 is 10exp, lvl4 is 20 exp, and so on) i think that gives decent progression considering the rate the system lets you grow (1 level every 2-3 sessions, depending on how active they are) thoughts?
Would somebody put this up on suptg? I'd do it myself, but I'd inevitably fuck up with the tags.
>>31850982good idea. i have no idea how to do that myself.
>>31850982>>31851021I'll handle it real quick.
Alright, thread is archived!>>31849788Very nice. >>31849537Yeah, something like Giant Robot RPG is good for the in-logo subtitle. I do think we should come up with something to call the rule book, since Opeation's Manual is AdEva's book.>>31850820I figure NERV is shifty enough to not care what the country thinks, and the UN might put stipulations that the country itself can't stop them from recruiting, other than talking to the prospective pilot themselves.
>>31851204Also, for those wondering why the numbering is off, the anon who created the second thread called it crossover thread #1 since that was its purpose. But the archive counts the original thread as thread 1.
>>31850820I figure any 'natural' EVA pilot would probably get handed to NERV, even if only to save themself of having to handle a nutcase of that calibre. But on the whole the Children, at least in the original canon, are intentionally manufactured.
>>31839092I think this would be better expressed using a 3-color palette instead of a vectored version... of that.
