You are Joshua Thirteen, UNAAF Special Forces Division Seven. A soldier of the highest degree, and have been fighting the war against the demons for the past eighty years. You were winning the battles, but losing the war. Even in the horrors of war, you built a life for yourself with a woman, Lauren, whom you had saved. But humanity was betrayed, you were betrayed. When you recovered, you found yourself in an unprecedented world, a backwards world living in fear of the demons you very nearly triumphed against.

But the strange world you’ve found yourself in is not without allies. The Dragon slumbers nearby. Your lesser demons seem to be scattered around the capitol city of Lyr, though they are resisting your contracts with them. You were just reunited with your younger sister Alice, another child of Special Forces Division Six, and she’s as energetic as always. And if anyone could survive the betrayal that incapacitated you, it would be your brother Matthew, he is surely somewhere in this country, waiting for you to find him.

You had just taken your power back from your magpie when you encountered your strongest demon aside from the Dragon, Victoria. You hastily ripped the power from GRD, giving you enough of a surprise to catch her off guard, and eventually incapacitate her at the cost of a punctured lung and severed bicep. Now the two of you are alone, and she’s bleeding out, but has yet to answer your questions.

“I need you to tell me about…”

>Matt. Where is he and what is he doing?
>Why you won’t give your power back to me

“What happened to Lauren? Where is she?” you ask as you cross your legs and sit next to her. Victoria sighs, the wound in her chest making it difficult, and closes her eyes.

When she opens her eyes again, you can tell she has an honest forlornness about it, and you can already tell what she’s about to say. “She died during the attack on HQ. You couldn’t save her, and you paid the price for it. Not even the dragon can bring her back now. I’m sorry Josh.”

You tighten your lips and steeple your fingers, working them back and forth as you think. “Can’t, or won’t?” you ask, a knot of burning bile forming in your gut.

“He said he already dispersed her soul,” Victoria answers. You slam your fist into the ground, smashing the foundation and shattering your wrist. You growl and shake your hand, the tissue regenerating in mere moments. “I’m sorry, but that’s all I know for certain.”

“What the fuck happened back then?” you roar. Victoria flinches back from you, and something tells you that you were too rough, but you can hardly care about that right now.

“I don’t know! You sent me away before the attack, and the next time I saw Matt it looked like he had nearly been killed too, and wouldn’t say where you were, just that you’d be gone for a while. I thought he meant you were hunting down your betrayer, but if you were regenerating than I really don’t know what happened at all.”

So, are we just going to let her bleed out as we ask her questions?

That would be hilarious, but it seems a little counterproductive.

GRD, mundane treatment seems to have no upsides.
>>

I already did, I'm not about to samefag, however.

The point of my comment was to either make people realize what we're doing and see if they still choose to vote the way they do, and if they don't care, hopefully they'd say so and I'd get a chance to convince them otherwise.

>>31808671
Can I get a reminder of what you said last time if we wanted to use GRD to heal her?
>>
>>31808736
We just found out someone we care about is gone for good. Someone else we care about is bleeding out in front of us, and we've been an asshole to her for a while now. Seems like a situation where we reevaluate our priorities.
>>
>>31808736
Alright, lets make her a deal. "I'll heal you...after you give me what I'm owed. Or you can run off, heal the old fashioned way, wait for me to beat the shit out of you and ruin your political position, and then I'll ask you again. Or we can take advantage of a nice, soft mattress and I'll ask you in the morning."
>>
>>31808736
>Make a good argument and I'll tip the vote for you.

We can ask her where Matt is AFTER she's healed and not about to die, and if she refuses to answer, she'll still be recuperating and we could always bust her up again if we really need to.

My understanding is this "You don't fail now, but I make you fail latter" that is not worth it because we will win at something smaller then what we'll fail at later on, because the quest will have progressed and the stakes will be higher.

So not only do we negate the loss, it goes to jail, thinks about what we did to it, works out, gets buff and gets released wanting revenge.
>>
“You’re going to have to help me track down Matt after this,” you state as you gently pick up her hand.

Victoria’s eyes go wide as you help her to a sitting position, but her face is so pale she must be struggling to stay conscious. “What are you planning to do?”

“I have to heal you, and this is the easiest way to do that,” you explain, picking her up and putting her in your lap so she can drape her arm around you.

“No, the easiest way to do that would be an ambrosia packet, not drinking your blood. GRD’s in there,” she responds, her lips curling back in disgust.

You shake your head and put your hand on the blade in her chest. “You just told me that my wife is dead. Alice told me that almost all of my family is dead. You are almost the last thing I have left in this world. You can’t expect me to not do everything I can to protect you, whether you’re trying to kill me or not. And my blood basically is ambrosia anyways.”

“I’m not going to drink it.”

“You’re full of yourself. The wound is too much. Back in the day you might have been able to be treated properly, but that’s not really an option any more. Now, I’m going to pull this knife out, and you’re going to drink. Okay, Tory?” you state.

“Don’t call me that,” she says, but she nods slightly, and you yank the steel from her chest. Blood squirts across both of you as she sinks her fangs into the side of your neck. You can feel yourself immediately get light headed, but her bleeding stops.

Then your resolve starts to fail. You hang your head and wrap your arms around her. “I,” you start to say, tears stuttering your words. “I really want to believe you’re just lying to me, but I know you’re not.”

Victoria pulls her lips away from you, and lets your body seal up. “I’m sorry you never had your chance to live in peace with her, however short it would have been,” she says as she rests her head on your shoulder.

"So then, she really was incompatible with the transdifferentiation organ?"

"There was nothing you could have done."

"There's always been something I could have done."

>Two things are important when it comes to the difference between Vampire and Human. The Transdifferentiation Organ, and their poison. Their saliva contains a very peculiar macro-protein structure that science hasn't had the luxury of studying the mechanics of. When they bite you, they will often drain you of enough blood to make you woozy, although this isn't to feed them, they can eat just like a normal person if need be. They drain your blood to make you light headed, and thin your blood to let their poison flow up to the brain easily. There, it will usually deposit along the ocular nerve.

>This then allows the vampire to impress their will on the victim, order them to do various tasks, but nothing obscene such as suicide or murder of a friend.

>After enough times feeding on a single victim however, enough poison will accumulate in them to render them into a ghoul, a person incapable of freeing themselves of the vampire's will.

>On top of this, they are faster, stronger, and have reflexes simply unimaginable by human standards.

>True to the old stories however, men of faith have been reported to repel them with their holy symbols, but according to the Dragon, that is merely due to their own force of will bolstered by their false beliefs, nothing inherent in their creeds.

>They don't have a particular weakness to sunlight, but it breaks the poison down rapidly.

In all seriousness, however, I really do need this to happen canonically so that I can understand the actual circumstances. Alot can change about the scene if it's angry, her comforting him, him comforting her, them both comforting eachother, the actual anatomy...I'm not even sure if either of them have scars, a fact that's quite important when describing a nude body.
>>
>>31809845
Now that I think about it, I know Josh is scarless aside from the spot on the back of his head, and another one that hasn't come up yet, but thats only because GRD prevents scar tissue.

Victoria doesn't have that, I'll have to figure that out.
>>
>>31809897
Well, give me a scene and some circumstances, and I'll see what I can do. Their opinions of eachother are a rather large factor in how a scene develops.
>>
“Come on, I’ll take you back to where Alice and I are staying for the time being, we both need some rest,” you say as you dry your tears and gently reset her broken arm. You know that must have hurt her, but you know there’s enough energy in your blood that she may as well be high on endorphins.

“I can’t exactly say no to you in this state. Where to?” she asks as you scoop your arm under her legs and stand up. You lose your balance for a moment, stumbling to the side, but catch your footing. “Are you alright?”

“You’re the one who drained me, maybe I should just drain you back real quick, and then we can be even more of a bloody mess together,” you say, chuckling as you start carrying her back out of the warehouse. The magpie follows behind, crawling on the ground rather than flying. Victoria laughs a bit as well, but rests her head back against your shoulder.

You carry her in silence until you’re almost halfway back to the brewery. You notice distinctly fewer hoodlums in the alleys of the slums, as if they’re in hiding for something. So you ask her, “So where the hell is my brother?”

“Coming here actually. He’s been playing Napoleon or whatever, trying to take over the world. He’s Naaf’s greatest military leader, and he’ll be here tomorrow on a show of force. I wanted to get my strength back before then, but I don’t think that’ll be happening.”

“I guess he actually went through with it then. At least he finally got promoted, more or less.”

“If he does actually come here, Josh. I’ll need a favor from you. You nearly killed me or I’d do it myself,” she says as you round the last corner to the brewery.

“Why. Why did I think you were going to say something else. Lauren was the only one who could get you to make snap decisions,” Victoria said, shaking her head.

“Death finds the hasty first. What of it? What do you want me to do?” you ask as you slow your pace, giving the two of you more time to speak.

“The Queen is going to need a bodyguard, someone who can stand up to Matt when he shows up. She’s a gentle girl, she doesn’t know how to stand up to someone like him. All you’d really need to do is catch him and do what you were going to do anyways, but you have to make sure that he doesn’t meet with her without you.”

“Sounds like my brother has gotten quite a bit ruder since I last saw him.”

“Politics will do that to you. He’s gotten lazy as well, just glamor’s people half the time. I think most of Naaf is ran by his ghouls actually. His or Faye’s,” Victoria explains. Then her eyes cut over to yours as your mind fondly recalls Faye and you smrik. “And no sleeping with Faye.”

“I’ll be there with you. It will be fine. Thank you Josh,” Victoria says as you push into the Gremlin Brewery. Candles are lighting the main area and you can smell fresh liquor. A higher quality bottle than the last one Cyn had. She’s behind her counter, sipping it and reading a book by the candlelight. You only catch a quick glimpse of the title, something about a maid, before she shoves it under the counter and jumps to her feet.

“What happened?” she asks as she runs over to you.

“Oh, you know me. Always showing up with bloody women in my arms. You’d think it was…”

You can’t bring yourself to finish the joke, so Victoria speaks up for you, “We got in a bit of a disagreement but everything’s fine now. You have a bed for me, right?”

“You better not be bringing more trouble down on me. And the only bed I have is the one I gave you the day before yesterday,” Cyn explains as she starts leading you over to your room.

“It’ll do,” you say, following behind her. Then you notice Alice and Lucian. She’s quietly snoring, sitting against an empty vat, and he’s sprawled out on the ground next to her and they both reek of sweat and booze.

“Looks like the kids had some fun,” you comment as you walk past the two of them.

“What possessed you to leave her in charge of a child?” Victoria asks as you step into the small bedroom.

“What are you talking about? Lucian was clearly the one in charge and responsible. He’s a whole like, eight years old or something. If he weren’t unconscious I’m sure he’d happily tell you he’s nearly a man grown,” you respond.

“Whatever, I’m not responsible for the little slut. Never have been, never will be.”

“Speaking of which, why was she more or less homeless this whole time?” you ask as Cyn steps out of the room.

“I offered, but she could only stand being cooped up in the palace for so long. Last I heard she was with that fatass Cubierre. What happened there?”

“She got fed up with him for being creepy, apparently,” you answer as you set her down on the bed.

“I will never be able to fathom that girl.”

“Rest easy Tory,” you say as you push yourself back to your feet and wander back to the main area of the brewery.

Cyn quickly speaks up whens he sees you. “So do I get to ask what the hell happened after you ran off on me?”

“It’d be very hard to explain. By the way, the demon is outside, and should probably be let in before someone sees him,” you say as you wander over to Alice. You crouch down to check on her, but she seems fine. Her breath is saturated with grain alcohol, enough that you can still see a bit of flush in her face.

“So you got in a fight with your girlfriend or something?” Cyn asks as she gets a tankard out and pours it full for you.

You groan and wander over to the front door to let your magpie in. “Ex actually. My fights with ex’s are a bit more literal than most people. I envy most people,” you state as the bird wanders into the brewery on all fours, waddling like a badger. You can see Cyn stiffen at the sight of it. “Relax, he can barely chew a fish right now. He won’t cause you any trouble.”

“So, are you going to tell me what’s going on? Or are you just going to drift out of my life?” she asks as you sit down and pick up the drink she offered you.

You glance at her before dropping your gaze back to the booze on the counter. You pick up your tankard for a moment, before putting it back down and snatching up the bottle. She tries to grab it from you but you upend it and start chugging ti down in gulps. The alcohol is flavorless and strong, enough to make your eyes water. At first Cyn tries to stop you, but you wave her off. Halfway through the bottle and she just starts watching in disbelief. Then you finish the bottle and drop it on the ground before dropping your face on to the counter.

“You’re not alright at all, are you?”

“My body is functionally immune to nearly ever poison known to man, with only one exception I know of. Alcohol is not that exception, but I’m pretty woozy from blood loss, so I might get a bit drunk off that,” you explain to her without lifting your head.

“Because you’re an elf? I’ve never heard of anything like that,” she responds as you grope around for your tankard.

“My wife died.”

“Oh, you were married?” Cyn asks, and then as an afterthought, “I’m so sorry.”

“She died, and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I swore to protect her, and I failed. And now I’m going to drink,” you declare. “I’m going to drink as much as I can to try to get wasted for the first time since I was like sixteen. Because being drunk is the correct response to this according to all the normal people I’ve met, so I’m going to try it. And then tomorrow, I’m going to track down my brother, and get to the bottom of this mess.”

“Drinking isn’t a very healthy response to grief you know. You’re supposed,” Cyn says, but you shatter the tankard in your hand, sending the splinters flying in every direction.

“I’ll be drinking now,” you state as you push up to your feet and wander over to a rack of bottles for sale.

“So it was a director?” Matt asked as he wiped the sweat from his brow. It had been a long day, even for the two of you. Punched out in a drop pod before the sun was up, and the marauder war band spent all day playing cat and mouse with them, quibbling between their honor of the fight, and retreating. When one of the marauders beneath Matt’s feet shifted, just a slight move to grab his weapon again, Matt plugged his skull with lead. The thing would have wanted to die with a weapon in its hand, but that was unnecessary risk.

“Yeah, director. Not sure why it didn’t come from higher. We should probably open up Lyrra and find out what actually happened,” you respond, tossing another corpse on the pile. The half of the body was missing most of its guts, so it was a light toss, but you had to make sure not to step in his entrails. The only support you were going to get for the mission was a blaze team to destroy the corpses before they attracted an alpha, but they weren’t coming until after the sun went down.

“A good idea regardless. I want to do some snooping around. The casualty rate for div seven has gotten way too high recently. If Christie and Kate decide to come back and don’t just elope on us, there’ll only be thirteen of us remaining,” Matt explained as he stepped into the shade of the bloody mound. The sun would set soon, dropping the temperature down to reasonable levels for the hike back to the Ohio River. There wasn’t even enough wind to keep the flies away, not even the big bone eater ones.
>>
“You know, I get sleeping with your squadmates and we’ve both done as much, but they might have taken things a bit far,” you said, sitting down on a small boulder to fan yourself with the war chief’s head dress. It was made mostly from Roc feathers, although about half of them had broken during the fight, and what appeared to be finger bones.

“You heard the rumor didn’t you? Christie’s sixth demon was Kate. And I’m pretty sure they were in each other’s pants even before then. Remember when you dragged Lauren back that first time? Sargeant Babyface couldn’t give less of a shit, know why? They broke the entire bunkhouse together,” Matt said as he picked up the war chief’s head to look at the curled horns. “Think this would make a good mug? I haven’t had a good drinking horn in years,” he asked, snapping one of the horns off, but cracking it.

“It’s not particularly impressive. This guy was only leading like ten dozen marauders.”

Matt shrugged and tossed it aside. “I was hoping for more of a fight. The intel must have been shoddy. We were way overkill for this, and there’s no nearby strategic value that I know of. Do we still have nuclear silos?”

“Alpha-in-a-Can? Don’t think so. Once upon a time they may have been hording them for after the Demon War, but not any more.”

“Then I think they’re trying to kill us,” Matt said as he sat down on a dead jotnar, the giant’s thigh making a suitable seat after being severed from torso.
>>
“A few dozen marauders aren’t much of a threat for us, so they’re doing a pretty bad job of it. If they really wanted to kill us, wouldn’t they just poison our ambrosia packets?”

“They did, I swapped all of our packets with the terminal ward just before we left. I was listening to the net chatter on the way out and like twelve of ‘em rotted to bones,” Matt said, holding his hand out for the headdress fan.

“Isn’t that a semi-normal reaction to ambrosia overdose?” you asked, tossing it over to him. “The shit’s a bit volatile for normal humans.”

“Nah, they fixed that like twenty years ago or so. I thought you heard about that? It was about the time they figured they could put a transdifferentiation organ in a normal human. Shit, if I remember right, they were one and the same discovery.”

“I don’t buy it. Even poisoned ambrosia isn’t enough for some marauders to kill us. And what would they gain by killing us anyways?” you asked as you leaned back and opened your eyes to the power of the Dragon. You and Matt both shone like the great bonfires, but between your glows you could see the twisted souls of the marauders rising up through the air, swirling about each other. The Dragon illuminated half the world from his seat beneath the Annihilation Wall, hundreds of kilos away and his pull on the souls was visible already.
>>
“You can do anything with a bayonet except sit on it. We could conquer the entire city with our power, and do it handily. They’re scared of us. So they’re being preemptive. The brass aren’t exactly tactical geniuses,” Matt said as he leaned against the corpse pile and fanned himself.

“Okay, I can understand them being afraid of you because you might get bored one day and do that.”

“But why would they try to kill you? You ask?” Matt responded as he tossed the fan back over. “Maybe they’re not. Poisoned ambrosia and a few marauders wouldn’t kill you, but there might be more. It’d take two alphas at the same time to maybe kill you. But if they are trying to kill us, we have to do something, right? That’s the law of war.”

You snatched the fan and shrugged. The temperature was disgustingly hot. “I suppose, if they’re making an enemy of us. Suffer not an enemy to draw a single breath and all that.”

“Then when we get back, we’re cracking into Lyrra and taking the offensive. Remember, it’s not just to protect us, they’ll also be going after our siblings, and Lauren,” Matt said as you turned around. The smell of sulfur had reached your nose. Five kilometers away, a new sun was rising. Thousands of souls were chained to the body, burning endlessly. The pile had attracted an alpha.
>>
“Alpha is coming, fire type,” you said, discarding the fan and picking up your sword again. Fire types were a pain to fight. If you took too long cutting them down, your blade would lose its edge and you’d stop cutting so much as bashing. Not to mention they would usually set you on fire as well.

“Our little assassin is right on time then. He should be a minotaur type, about ten meters tall, on fire all the time,” Matt said as he grabbed his own sword and walked over to you. The sparse forest was already ablaze and smoking into the dusk. “I think HQ forgot that I used to track the Alphas myself. Probably because we’ve had it automated since they enlisted as boot sloggers.”

“Modest as ever bro. But, this is actually perfect for me. For the soul of an alpha, the Dragon’ll fix whatever’s wrong with Lauren, so I’m going to rip this thing apart,” you said. “And I’ll need your help.”
>>
I’ve got your back if you’ve got mine,” your brother said, holding up his fist to you.

“Forever and always man,” you responded, bumping his fist with your own.

“Those bastards really have no respect for us, no trust. Eighty years of service and no extended leaves of absence, no failed missions. It’s like we haven’t seen every battlefield possible twice over already. Let’s start a new war Josh.” Matt said as the Alpha demon climbed atop a distant hill. Twelve meters of fire and muscle, swinging around a club made from half smelted cars. “The demons are boring.”

Oh come on now, there's discussion to be had here
>>
so why didn't we push Victoria to return or power?
We should do that next time ASAP l. Doubt she would resist much anyway.
>>
>>31812485
Matt seems unlikely to me, though he may have been the one to bash us on the head for some reason. As he knew we'd be 'out' for awhile. He may have done this as the person who betrayed us was someone we knew and would never turn against like our wife.

Lauren made Lyrra and is also a director so she could be the one hiding her results from everyone. It could be because the demon's organ corrupted her. During Matt and Josh's rebellion she opened the gates to let demons into the annihilation wall. Then when we found out that Lauren was corrupted Matt knocked us out and killed Lauren, something he knew was for the best and that if we were conscious we'd never let happen
>>
So, the UNAAF was losing the war on the purpose to get more founds to develop a toxin strong enough to kill us, and possibility a new batch of more controllable soldiers.

Why Lauren was still in the HQ at the time of our rebellion? we sent everybody we cared on some useless missions, we surely would triple checked that our wife was 200% safe.

>>31812485
Matt would never betray us, but he would stop us from doing something extremely stupid.
>>
>>31819867
>the demon's organ corrupted her.
Transdifferentiation organ is just flesh, the corruption comes from the soul. Not to mention she didn't get the transplant.

>she opened the gates
There are no gates. The Annihilation Wall is a field of anti-soul essentially. Anything alive that passes close to it dies, except the Dragon. You get in and out by flying really fucking high in the air.
>>
>>31822276
...so demons have souls?

Iiiiiiinteresting....
>>
>>31822314
...Yes?

It's how you take their power, and what defines them as demons. They're the souls of people that were never meant to reincarnate, and were stuck in a roiling hell until the world killed itself and the Dragon shat himself trying to put it all back together before everything was dead forever. Now they're mad.

Also, Victoria was pretty evil/sociopathic before you contracted with her, though not as much as say, Akab. The bond goes both ways after all.

Well, the ones that can fly that high can get shot to death "fairly" easily, and the wall should extend far enough down that they can't go under it without burring through bedrock, which no demon has shown the ability to do. Although bedrock is kind of a loose term for drained aquifer.

Trumpets and horns blare over the beat of drums as great, demonic beasts lumber forwards. Naaf is declaring to the entire city that they have arrived, just moments after the sun has risen. Your head pounds with every sickening beat. You groan and wrap your arms around your head to muffle the noise. You roll over and break through the crumbling vat you fell asleep in as Alice runs over to you.

You drank the brewery dry last night, and that’s about all you remember after your first drink. The stuff was strong, and Cyn had a lot of it. Due to your regenerating, it hit you hard, and now you reek of it. You probably look worse than a fresh recruit on his first leave of absence.

“Matt’s here!” Alice declares as she jumps into the vat with you, splashing dirty booze across you. You groan again, so she grabs your elbow and pulls you to your feet. “Come on, we should go see him. Maybe we can go sort everything out.”

You scowl. “I have more than you know to sort out with him.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” she asks as she pulls you out of the still wreckage.

“You’ll just have to see,” you answer as you scratch at your face. You feel like a dirty bum. Then you glance at your hands, the knuckles are covered in faint scars, but they look like they’re supposed to again. A quick check at your nose and ears confirms why your face was itchy, you sliced off the excess cartilage while drunk.

You try to wipe the crud from your face and stumble over to the bedroom Victoria is in. Lucian is still fast asleep, and Cyn is nowhere to be seen. You must have scared her off during the night. When you throw the door open, sunlight finally reaches the room and you see Victoria wince away from it. “Morning Sunshine.”

“By the Dragon, that name’s back,” she grumbles, using her arm to protect her eyes.

“I had a lot of names for you, didn’t I, Sunshine?”

“And I believe I had a few for you, Sisterfucker,” she responds, sitting up and examining the bloody hole in her sweater.

“Morning Victoria!” Alice says as she bounces into the room behind you.

“Speak of her and she shall appear. Good to see Alice. That racket outside is our brother then?” Victoria asks.

“Seems like it. Mild psychological terror methods I suppose. He’ll be meeting with the Queen soon,” you respond.

“No he won’t. That would give her too much importance. He’ll bugger around with his generals, visit his political pawns, have tea, and then see her. Can’t let them do anything on their schedule afterall,” she explains, wiping the sleep from her eyes. Then she looks up at you. “What the hell happened to your face?”

“Things got a little frisky when we made out last night,” you answer.

Alice spins around on you and stares. “What did I miss while I was asleep?”

“What did we miss? I leave to work a job, incidentally finding these two, and come back to you drunk ish and sleeping next to Lucian?” you ask, pointing back to the main room.

Her face flushes. “That isn’t, I wouldn’t ever do something like that! He’s just a kid! Why would you think that?”

“Why do you think I would think that?”

“That’s rude!” she shouts at you. “I wouldn’t do something like that,” she declares, stomping past you.

She slams the door shut behind her, breaking the frame, and continues on. “She totally slept with him,” Victoria says.

“Yeah probably. Doesn’t really matter though, do you have a plan for today?”

Victoria takes a deep breath and brushes her hair back behind her ears before answering. “The two of us will have to look presentable, so a trip to the baths and the tailor. I can get us into the palace to do that though. Little Lyanna will gladly have us by her side but I don’t know what I’m going to say you are. I don’t want the two of you going off on each other until after he meets with her though. No matter how it turns out, I’m sure he’ll be busy for the rest of the day and we can figure it out from there.”

“I’ll need my power back you know. If he was responsible for Lauren’s death, I have to know.”

She responds slowly. “We’ll talk as the day goes on. I don’t want you getting in a fight in front of her, and withholding my power is just about the only thing I can do to stop you.”

“You say it will keep me out of fights, I say it will weaken me and get me killed if he starts it instead,” you respond.

“Then you’ll have to make sure he doesn’t try to kill you. He is your brother you know. Shouldn’t the two of you be on the same side?” Victoria asks.

“You’d think that, but I’m not so certain. Either way, let’s get going to the palace,” you say, offering her a hand up. She ignores it and gets up on her own. When she stands though, she tucks her right arm, the break must not have healed completely yet.

“Then let’s get going Snake,” she says as she walks out ahead of you. Lucian mumbles something about Cynthia as you walk past him. The front door is open, so Alice must have already left. As the two of you leave, you wonder for a moment how the demi-human kid will react to the magpie sleeping the in same room as him.

Out in the streets you can see and hear hundreds of people migrating from their homes to the main streets, where Naaf is marching in. Part of you wants to confront him immediately, but you know you aren’t prepared, instead you follow Victoria back to the palace. She introduces you to the guards as her brother from the south.

After speaking with a servant for a moment, she quickly leads you to a small building behind the residential area, and somewhat near the temple. Inside is a luxurious bath for the royal family. Interlocking pools of steaming water, excess water pouring down stones to other pools. As the two of you start stripping, she explains that the royal tailor will be around shortly. You nod and the two of you take opposite sides of the bath to clean yourselves up.

But as soon as the hot water hits your back, you can feel scars you didn’t know you had. The hot water burning a winged serpent across your shoulders. And you can feel the presence in the temple once again, but you’re certain that it’s not one of your demons.

We were literally told that she is no longer a sociopathic monster specifically because she was contracted to us, and our less-sociopathic tendencies rubbed off on her through the contract bond.

>Also, Victoria was pretty evil/sociopathic before you contracted with her, though not as much as say, Akab. The bond goes both ways after all.

You splash water on your face to get rid of the last bit of blood, and stand up from the bath. You can feel the seal on your back, strange as it is, but you can’t quite recall what it was for. It was something the Dragon gave you before you were nearly killed, but the memories stay just out of reach, just barely inaccessible.

“You know, you lost a lot of weight from that regeneration. I suppose I should just be impressed that you survived at all, but still. Um, where are you going?” Victoria asks as you stride back out of the bath.

“There’s something of mine in that temple. I think I should go get it back,” you answer. “And you should give me my power back.”

“Absolutely not. You’re not going out there naked are you?” she responds. You snatch a linen towel as you walk out and wrap it around your waist. As you get closer to the temple, you can hear the people inside, some sort of early prayer. But you can also feel the power inside, demonic power. You don’t have the Dragon’s strength in you at the moment, so the form of it is indistinct, but raw.

You march in, to the great surprise of the priestesses present. “Joshua?” one of them asks as you march up to the podium. You glance over at her, she’s the priestess from the village you first arrived at, Isabella as you recall. “What are you doing here?”

“What is that?” you ask, pointing at the gnarled tree growing through the ground of the temple. You’re certain that it’s containing the soul, which would explain how it has survived despite its conditions. The seal on your back is lighting up as you approach it.

“This is the tree of life, it bestows the Dragon’s miracles on true believers,” she explains as she steps between you and it.

69 isn't good enough?
>>
>>31828035
no

if a 69 is considered low enough to warrant that, you may as well just kill us.
>>
>>31828034
I know the guy I replied to votes, and what he's voted for. If you aren't the guy I replied to why are you pretending to be?
>>
>>31828035
yes
>>
>>31828035
The dice gods command it to happen, Gabriel.
>>
>>31828072
I was just commenting on how awful the logic in some of these arguments before was. That's like my first post here.

>>31828035
Why the hell not?
>>
>>31828035
come on, isn't that a special roll?
>>
>>31828035
Sure. In fact let's just assume we take the QB deal if it is ever offered.
>>
>>31828035
>why does no one ever roll above 50
>posts QB on a roll of 70
>>
>>31828188
Since when were you under the impression this was high roll?
>>
>>31828035
Aw, QB, due to your portrayal in MGNQ I just can't hate you.
>>
>>31828202
Since it only gets rolled 31% of the time.
>>
>>31828202
since when were you so annoying

>>31828202

Wow.

This is no time to be fucking with your players, Fronk!

Since he decided to make this less a quest and more a storytime.

“Then you’re about to see it’s last miracle,” you say as you push past her.

“Sir, what do you think you are doing? This is a holy place of worship. A place of miracles and salvation, built by Lady Lyrra herself to house the blessings of the Dragon. Would you defile such a place with your acts?” the old head priestess asks as you jump up on the stage in front of the tree.

“Stay back mother! This man is dangerous! A heathen!” Isabella shouts and the old woman wilts away from you as you march past.

Then you place your hands on the trunk of the tree, and can feel the burning power within, warm and familiar. The power of an alpha demon, neutered and preserved. Light bonds hold it to the wood, but the bonds it has to you are stronger, and you tear it free.

Thousands of burning souls flood out of the withered husk, swirling through the room before being sucked back into you, and filling you with power, fresh power, nearly as much as the Dragon bestowed upon you.

And then your memories come with it. Fragments and snippets, reflections of knowledge held elsewhere. Carrying Lauren’s body out of the smoke and poison, out of the den of war you made in UNAAF’s headquarters. Crying and cursing Matt’s name.

“What are you doing Joshua?” Victoria shouts as she runs into the temple.

“It was his fault. I can remember it now. All these years he’s gotten away with it, it was all him. Matt betrayed everyone, killed everyone and left only me, sealing me away for as long as he could.”
>>
I'm calling the thread, again, here.
>>
>>31812220
>For the soul of an alpha, the Dragon’ll fix whatever’s wrong with Lauren.

>>31828381
when she was alive at least..
>>
>>31828340
hahahah knew it was either him or a 3rd party.
>>
>>31828340
Fuck you, Matt. Why would you do that.

...
Why would he leave Josh alive though? He knows we would come back if not properly disposed of.
>>
>>31828340
woops~
so, how much extra power did we earn?
>>
>>31828455
He may have like fallen into a lake or something. Something that made it seem in the chaos that he was gone. Then he regenerated. Kind of hard to know if you killed a guy if the war is going on at the time. Especially considering it took a hundred years to wake up.
>>
>>31828481
Not enough.

It's never enough.
>>
>>31828481

35% and more
>>
>>31828340
>sealing me away for as long as he could.
so we can return, hungry for vengeance.

all of this beacuse he was bored ?

yeah no, this memory is clearly a faked one, crafted by the Dragon.
>>
>>31828525
He didn't want us spoiling his fun, of course.
>>
>>31828523
This reminds me we really should go to the Dragon and kick him in the face till he wakes up.

>>31828525
>Fake memory

Possible. I don't think it's likely though.
>>
>>31828547
We can also bring along a big bunch of people and ritually sacrifice them if kicking doesn't work.
>>
So the question is, do we go all murderhobo on Matt next thread or do we wait out for some reason?

If the second, I think we will have to call off our favour for Victoria because I doubt we will be able to control ourself if we meet Matt face to face.

Next thread we will probably start of demanding power back from Victoria.... and destroying half of the palace with a single slam on the ground due to a fit of rage.

>>31828525
Yeah, I think it is too convenient too. We need to recover all of our demon powers to gain all of the lost memories.
>>
>>31828525
He didn't do it because he was bored, he did it because UNAAF was trying to kill Div Seven. He responded with full force.

Lauren was killed in the attack indirectly. You went to kill him because of it, he beat you. And then he did everything else, perhaps out of boredom.
>>
>>31828574
Nah, next session we rape victoria and rip the power out of her too. Then we go and fight matt.
>>
>>31828594
finally smutfag will have a scene to write smut for.
>>
>>31828585
Gab, the quest has lost its hook. The moral fags popped in at the worst moment...you really shouldn't have posted that as is. Should have written up a memory for it, but I can understand why you didn't want to.

Come to the IRC, I have an idea for an alternative plot that might be plenty fun, and slightly less predictable.
>>
>>31828568
Nah. Don't think the dragon gives a shit.

>>31828585
> And then he did everything else, perhaps out of boredom.

I know if I was bored I would do something similar in that case. Though the biggest danger here is he has a crew of people just as high tech as we where in the past. Shouldn't be too hard to keep 20 guys with guns around.
>>
>>31828626
>A scene

So that was true and not made up shit?
What about the poisonous attack? Did Matt do that too?

If I wanted to be writing a grand mystery scheme I'd go back to EDEN. This was always supposed to be a revenge story. You people are honestly making me wonder if you even read what I post. It's not a complicated story, at all. You're acting like I'm revealing things right now but I'm really really not.

I'm taking a break from this for a while because I'm honestly having a hard time caring any more. Also, I'm still banned from IRC. Why do you think I haven't been in there for like two weeks?
>>
>>31828753
Oh, hell. I don't think Ash even knows about that.
>>
>>31828753
Take as long as you want. I'm enjoying it so far anyway.
>>
>>31828753
>I'm honestly having a hard time caring any more.
Just when it started to get interesting, oh well.
>>
>>31828753

As always, you have way to high opinion of your players.

>I'm taking a break from this for a while because I'm honestly having a hard time caring any more
Why? This was going well enough I think, moralfags notwithstanding.
>>
>>31828955
Thanks for implying it hasn't been intersesting until now.
>>
>>31828969
People haven't been reading the quest for the past 12 threads out of a keen desire to be bored to sleep, stop acting like a child.
>>
>>31829021
Note this guy doesn't speak for everyone.

You write excellent bedtime stories.
>>
>>31828969
that's not what the archive says..
i guess that a good part of your readers isn't active in the quest
>>
>>31829053
The archive was botted
>>
>>31829081
not by you I hope
>>
>>31829105
No, that'd be suicidally pathetic. It's just pretty fucking obvious when it goes from 5 to 22 by one an hour every single time.
>>
>>31829119
it still means you have at least one very dedicated fan
>>
>>31829119
Don't worry buddy. I've been here since Code geass so you have at least me <3
>>
I guess Matt didn't want to kill us off forever not because he was bored or something but because he still loved us as a brother and never wanted Lauren to die. Probably left us for a century to cool of or something.
Besides, it is not like Matt was acting alone. If I understood correctly, we agreed with his plan and attacked the HQ with him.
Not sure why a lot of our brother and sisters died anyway or why he let the humanity degrade so far.

So maybe revenge is not the only way to go with this, maybe acceptance and moving on would work too?
>>
>>31829311
Or maybe he just couldn't kill us outright because he wasn't strong enough, and you're an animu faggot.
>>
>>31829331
He could just cremate our body and be over with it. He already defeated us, finishing us of at that point would have been a piece of cake.

and what does animu faggotry have to do with anything
>>
>>31829393
He's very insecure about being a weeaboo and projecting.
>>
>>31829311
It's honestly pretty likely he didn't want her to die at least. On the other hand he fucking killed joshua which means he is going to be pissed.

>>31829331
>Animu

If it was animu we would rip the guy limb from limb while yelling "This..this is unforgivable."
>>
>>31829331
I think he let us live beacuse we gave him the fight of his life, and he wanted to do it again.
>>
>>31829436
I can almost guarantee this is wrong.
>>
>>31829311
totally agree with the first part

>Not sure why a lot of our brother and sisters died anyway or why he let the humanity degrade so far.
well, the whole division didn't really receive a normal human education, power can do crazy things to educated people, so to ex child soldiers...

>So maybe revenge is not the only way to go with this, maybe acceptance and moving on would work too?
yeah, no
>>
>>31829434
>On the other hand he fucking killed joshua which means he is going to be pissed.

I think it was kill or be killed situation. Joshua was probably berserking at that point.

>>31829434
>>31829436
>>31829456

We really need to recover as much of our memories before making harsh decisions. There are two sources immediately available for us us. Victoria (obviously) and Beelzebub (who is in the city right now). Akab was in the city recently, so he cannot be far of. Dragon is too far away and should be left for last.
This only leaves Skath, who would probably be the hardest to find of them all.
>>
>>31829542
>>So maybe revenge is not the only way to go with this, maybe acceptance and moving on would work too?
>yeah, no

Hey, it's just a suggestion. If it played out as I think it did then Joshua is half to blame for this shit too.
>>
>>31829555
Just depends. Either way though he is going to be pissed.
>>
>>31829555
I still see Joshua kicking the dragon in the face and telling him to wake the hell up.
